    Great looking game. Gameplay is the same as the first. Conversations are interesting in some areas. However, the game is a cinematic experience, and the plot is uninteresting. Original characters, but 1 dimensional at the best of times. Over arching plot is filled with revenge tropes and obnoxious preaching.     It's a good game but unluckily it is overshadowed by some unnecesary scenes that bring nothing good in to the game and are only a lame try to show support to nowadays waves making it a bad marketing tool that took away the impact of some actions and parts of the game, bringing nothing to the legacy of the franchise and making the last of us part 2 memorable for the wrong reasons

    This game has good graphics, new and innovative game play, but it doesn't feel like a game set in the universe of TLOU. The tonality of the first game and it's underlying message seem to have been abandoned. Character development is circular and self flagellating to no point. This game suffers massively from violating Chekov's gun fated exposition of continuity.     The whole game is very depressing, as a player of TLOU, I can not accept the strange changes in in-game roles' character. Joel, Ellie, and Tommy as if they are completely different from TLOU. The worst part is having to play Abby for half of this game, which makes me want to throw up eventually.

    first night of the game i already second thought myself, it this really for me (gamer) ? or this is for someone from naughty dog who has his/her political or LGBT community to tell us their feeling?
    our main character of this game Ellie is a lesbian, fine to me, i dont really give a big deal of it.
    our beloved character got torture to dead by the girl he saved in the first hour of the game. (WTF??!! but ok, maybe there is more into the story, we see)
    Ellie was mad on his father because his father saved her from killing her to make a vaccine?? (WTF, all the father in the world will do the same!!! by the father of two)
    Ending, Ellie let Abby go free because revenge is wrong?!?!?! are you fuking kidding me? after all your best friends, your father, your father's best friend all got killed; after u long way on the road, u just killed like 100 people to get to abby you think revenge is wrong and let her go? am i crazy here or whoever create this crap is insane!

    The writing and directing was abysmal, to the point where you simply do not want to play the game anymore. Graphics, music, sound design and animations were absolutely amazing, but none of that matters when the story is trash. Gameplay is meh but that's always been the case even with the previous game.

    I wanted to like this so much as i loved the first game. Unfortantly its terrible. And not for any of the reason that the anti lgbtq folks are bothered about. The gameplay is so repetitive I had a really hard time getting past that. Also it feels exactly like the first game but with better graphics. There are so many failed attempts and ideas here.

You play as Ellie until they kill off Joel. Then they get you to spend the next 10 hours playing as a very manly female character that killed Joel. Those 10 hours I just wanted this character to die the whole time and I grew 0 connection to her. Finally at the end of the story Ellie is going to get her revenge....and she wusses out and let's her go for some reason. The story was horrible. Everything else was good, but the story is supposed to be the best part about naughty dog games.… Expand

The gameplay improve a lot that is great, HOWEVER almost everyfan loved this game for the history and characters, we didn't play the first part to save the freaking planet, we did it in order to see the history between Ellie and Joel, when we saw and felt how Joel retake a lost special feeling when travel with Ellie and know that he doesn't want to lose his new family. If I have to be honest I was afraid because I couldn't find the way to explain a new plot in order to justify a second part for this game. Now I know this was the worst way to do it, we literally have to play with the damn killer, and you try .. no, you make the player take some kind of empathy to this character and it doesn't work. At the end Ellie lost everything, the last chapter when Ellie went to California in order to find Abby was the worst idea I ever see; Ellie didn't reach her goal (well, she does, but at that point anything didn't have a sense. That fight was bland for me), and she end's alone (WTF).....
    I think they did this part after see they screw up at beginning. Literally 60% of history are flashbacks that are not flash (bad joke I know)....
    They show us characters without relevance and poor development that as you know if you played they died in bland way....
    SUMMARY, is a great game if you really don't care the plot, sadly this game for the most of us is not just the graphics.    … Expand

    What made Last of Us part 1 a masterpiece was the journey taken by Joel and Ellie. The game feels complete with their journey ending after the Joel says “ I swear”.

    Here, the journey is worthless. Ellie goes on a killing spree trying to get to the person who did wrong to her. At the end of this killing spree, she did find her(Abby) and let her go…. What in the actual **** is that ???

    Is Ellie feeling remorse and finding redemption? **** no, that’s NOT the Ellie we loved in part 1.
    This nullifies the journey.
    I am going to forget that Part 2 existed in Last of Us world.

    For me, after part 1, Joel and Ellie happily lived and died in the Jackson, possibly by a clicker :) , even that would have made better emotional story.    … Expand

    They completely ruined the story to the point of spitting on it all in the name of political agendas. I own uncharted 1-4, lost legecy, tlou on PS3 the remaster on my PS4 and I will never purchase this utter garbage trash filth. Get back to making great game experiences and stories !!!!

    The game has a very weak narrative. If you need one hundred flash backs to explain the story with unlikable characters doesn't make the game a pleasant experience. Instead of focusing possibly finding new way for a cure or vaccine they went the good old revenge plot that other movies or shows have executed this them better. They completely forgot that Joel is smart and unlikely to trust strangers. (If you played the first game you know this) Shoving him into a situation where he is helpless and giving him a pathetic death, he should've died to protect Ellie or something not this... I'm not mad that he died I'm mad at how he died and then they tried to make us sympathize with Abby. That did not work at all and I hated her all the way until the end and playing as her was boring. She deserved a death worse than Joel's but Ellie just walked away for no reason after everything she's been through to get to her and the hundreds of people she's killed. That would've redeemed the game if she at least got her revenge. This game was a disappointment and a waste of money. They ruined this franchise. I hope the writer for this game gets treated how they treated Joel.… Expand

    Lesbian here who owns the collector's edition. I was extremely excited for this game and had pre-ordered on the first day. The only true last of us is in my favorite games of all time. When I played the game and saw how they made Joel/Tommy go against their characters, by telling these people where they live and their names when they do not know these people at all. The way Abby just kills Joel when at this point the player has no idea who Abby makes her insufferable. All the work they do to try and make her sympathetic does nothing. At the end of the game, I agree with Ellies's decision to still go after Abby cause 'it can't all be for nothing'. It does not make sense that she would almost just let Abby go, she had just killed a man to get information on where Abby is. The ending is inconsistent with Ellie's character, as the entire game she has been killing people to try and get to Abby, and it is stupid she did not just shoot her in the head. Ellie's ending is bad and she does not even get revenge if she had just killed her straight away all that would be different is she would still have 10 fingers. A waste of £160. Collapse… Expand

    I’m convinced the writers of the first game have mysteriously disappeared. I refuse to believe The Last of Us 2 is made from the same people that made the original. That’s how bad this is. The story (which was the best thing about the original) makes the game unplayable in the sequel. Couldn’t be more unsatisfied.

    The game looks good and the mechanics are good but the only reason I liked TLOU was the dynamic between Ellie and Joel. I stopped playing after Joel died. The story meant nothing to me after that point. I could care less about the "wokeness" it was Joel and Ellie that I played the game for.
