    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What this game does well, it does very well. The graphics are phenomenal and the environments are beautiful. The gameplay itself is quintessentially Naughty Dog and it always feels like it’s struggling between a shooter, an adventure game and an RPG. The addition of a dodge button feels a little forced (I’ve never come across a game using L1 to dodge) and, at times, it can lead to very annoying game overs.

    Where the game really falls down is the plot -- for me it wasn’t so much the content that annoyed me but the order. Naughty Dog shot themselves in the foot by making gamers believe that this was a game about Joel and Ellie, and that they’d be spending all their time with the pair on an adventure like the first game. It’s ironic that Naughty Dog wanted to hide Abby as a playable character before release when, really, that part of the story should have come first, instead of painting Abby as the antagonist and then expecting the player to hold any empathy towards her.

    Instead, imagine playing as Abby in Seattle for the first half of the game, only to discover that Ellie was behind killing her friends. Then flashback to Jackson and the event that started Ellie’s quest for revenge. That would have made me want to care about Abby more and maybe feel slightly better about Ellie’s actions, instead of turning the whole thing into some ‘dig two graves’ revenge story.

    There are also things in the story that either should have been fleshed out a lot more or completely discarded. The Seraphites were made to be a much bigger deal than they turned out to be and, ultimately we didn’t learn a lot about them. And the third act? (I honestly don’t know if it can even be called that) I felt like it was only half there, like someone forgot to put the rest of Abby and Lev’s story into the game.

    I enjoyed the game, I don’t understand why it was being sold as ‘not fun’ when, ultimately, it is what it is; a game. It’s not high art. And that’s the point that no one seems to want to admit. And I think the notion that it was trying to push some agenda is, frankly, laughable. The only agenda I saw in this game is that people can be petty and pretty terrible to each other (ironically, the backlash against this game has kind of proved Naughty Dog right on that one).

    It’s hard not to feel misled about what the game was supposed to be, but does that make it a bad game? No. Does that make it a bad sequel? Maybe. Yes, the plot had holes in it and it had lots of elements that fans of the original didn’t like but does it deserve to be called the worst game ever? No. Should you play it if you’re a hardcore fan of the original? That’s up to you.

    The Last of Us Part 2 is a new game, it’s a different game. If you want more of the same as the first game then you might be disappointed. I liked the first game, and I enjoyed this one despite its flaws. I didn’t go into this expecting perfection just like I don’t replay the first game and experience perfection (let’s be honest, seven years on, the first game is janky and annoying to play, even if the story is amazing).

    All in all, it’s not a bad game, people just need to get over it and Naughty Dog need to get over themselves. Neil Druckmann need to take a seat next to David Cage, Peter Molyneux and Sean Murrey, and try to understand that games are divisive and the way that this game was handled caused most of this drama.    … Expand

    The attention to detail is unbelievable. The game is very immersive. The melee combat as well as the shooting is brutal. The game is on another level.

As for some reason you play as the baddie for half the game and even assault the main charecter. It feel like your playing a game as a pedophile chaseing children at times, it makes you just feel dirty. One hope naughty dogs dosnt make a ww2 game I don't want to really play as Hitler or press x to gas the jews… Expand

I don't think it's as good as critics say but also not as terrible as most people who played it say. First of all the game design, graphics, controls and customization is amazing. The attention to detail is unlike anything we've ever seen in a ps exclusive. Ellie's arc was great overall, with deep development and a good ending. The only problem i have with the ending is that i think it's unrealistic how Ellie's decides that she should give up on avenging Joel when she drowns Abby instead of when she cut her open and heard her scream. Abby's is pretty bad tho. The reason why she killed Joel is bc he killed her father. That is understandable, she went through a lot of pain for him but the big problem is that Abby's dad was the real bad guy. He only died bc he took Ellie away. Ellie was like Joel's daughter and after losing Sarah, it's only understandable why he would react that way. By that, she made Ellie feel the same way as she did, thus creating a cycle of hatred and yet, Abby wonders why Ellie comes after her to kill her. Abby would even kill Dina and Ellie's friends even tho they didn't do anything. Abby's friends were responsible for Joel's death so unlike Abby, Ellie definitely had a reason to kill them. In short, Ellie's development was great, Abby's was terrible bc it feels like avenging bad people for 10 hours.… Expand

    Story is garbage,gameplay medicore,graphics are amazing and dialogue is great. Ending is completly garbage and the main protagonist is a **** hit or miss. Whole game feels like druckman's attempt at creating a "masterpeace" but turned out to be a garbage fanfic.

    It's good. It's not perfect and certainly not a 10. But it's good. Absolutely worth buying on day 1, full-price and will be a great bargain next year. I do know why some people aren't digging it and I do know that some people don't like some hidden agendas that may or may not actually be there. But is this worth playing? Absolutely. Don't listen to the hate, don't eat up the hype, play itIt's good. It's not perfect and certainly not a 10. But it's good.     The game has a very disappointing story. As someone who absolutely loved the first game this sequel does not do justice. The writing is very poor, much like Star Wars 8 and 9, where it is ok if you have no context of what’s going on but for the fans it is completely ruined. I am not going to consider this canon.

    Los personajes están mal ubicados, sin trama, secuencias imposibles, como las batallas que tiene Abby con Ellie, muertes de personajes importantes a lo tonto.

    Un tercer bando renegado solo para torturar a la antagonista, sin explicación, sin motivo, un extra chocante. Un final que nadie debe ver, nada qué ver con el final épico que le da la mirada de Joel y Ellie junto con la estupenda música de Santaolalla. NO gasten su dinero, no vale la pena, recuerden con cariño el primer juego y no compren esta basura política.

    Además, quién quisiera jugar con un personaje que mató, a la columna vertebral de la historia, te ponen la historia de Abby para sentir empatía con ella, no tiene justificación, Joel no torturó al doc, aunque estés muy enojada, no se compara, odié jugar con ella.    … Expand

I'm gonna tell you one thing....the game is awesome...forget the haters....just experience the game from beginning to end...every main character has good intentions....nobody is evil...the set pieces and the graphics is next level...best naughty dog game in my opinion...and better than part 1....it is a huge game...a lot bigger than part 1...i understand the hate game is getting but the game is about a **** world...just play the game...most of you are hating because of joel death in the game...but it is justified properly in my opinion...with the character development of new people...the only problem in my opinion is AI is bit slugglish...cause because of the underpowered cpu of ps4....crafting and weapon upgrading are vastly improved...and the graphics ohh my goddd!!!!!!!!!nobody can reach naughty dog animations in gaming...it has everything for everyone like ign said....please dont go into prejudice and hate this game...it is a really damn good game...i know it is not a popular opinion but story is on par with the first part and issue i had with the story is non linear screenplay...it made me confuse while playing continuously which timeline I'm in....i give story 9.5 out of 10 and gameplay 9.5 out of 10....it is really worth your 60$… Expand

Взаимодействие врагов друг с другом, качественная расчлёнка, импакт от выстрелов и ударов, взаимодействие мили боёвки с окружением. Локации стали больше и вертикальней. Битвы – сплошное удовольствие. Играл я на высоком уровне сложности. Так    Игроки начали охоту на ведьм.
    Плюсы:
    + Геймплей.
    Вторая часть не совершила революций по сравнению с первой, но разработчики доработали механику. Взаимодействие врагов друг с другом, качественная расчлёнка, импакт от выстрелов и ударов, взаимодействие мили боёвки с окружением. Локации стали больше и вертикальней. Битвы – сплошное удовольствие. Играл я на высоком уровне сложности. Так же радует разнообразие ситуаций.
    + Визуал
    Графика, разнообразие окружения, анимация, освещение. Тут всё на высшем уровне.
    + Внимание к деталям
    Их просто море. Окружение – это отдельный рассказчик, с каждой новой игрой разработчики прыгают выше головы.
    + Режиссура.
    Тут дело не в ВАУ моментах, в игре их мало. А постановке кадра, музыки, звукового дизайна, монтажа и общей кинематографичности геймплея и кат-сцен.
    + Сюжет.
    Для меня, он слабее 1-ой части. Но структурно сюжет стал сложнее и неоднозначнее. Он хороший, поставлен прекрасно. Насчёт SJW-повестки. Она проскальзывала в первый 10 минутах игры. 2 минутная кат-сцена. Он лишняя, мне она не понравилась. 2 минуты из 24 часовой игры.
    + Музыка
    Её можно отнести к режиссуре, но музыка в игре играет всегда в тему, она подчёркивает настроение игры в нужные моменты.
    Минусы:
    - Даунгрейд анимации
    Помню я был в шоке от первого показа геймплея. Графика, вроде на том же уровне. Но разница в анимации между тем роликом и релизом видна не вооруженным взглядом.

    Вот смотрю я на инфополе вокруг обычных игроков и поражаюсь глупости, ненависти и дезинформации. Это троллинг, постирония или искренняя ненависть? Мне всё равно. Когда Даниэля Вавру с его Kingdome Come обвиняли в расизме радикальные бойцы за соц. справедливость, я был на его стороне, когда Days Gone ругали за наличие «типичного белого персонажа», я был на стороне разработчиков, когда Ubisoft и EA пихают SJW – мусор только ради пиара. Где представители меньшинств были просто так. Они были болванками без какой-либо проработки. Но тут мы получили дорогую, качественную, ЛИНЕЙНУЮ AAA –игру, которая не боится расссказать серьёзную, жесткую и интересно структурированную историю. Её закидывают гнилыми помидорами незаслуженно. В игре нет микротранзацкий, багов, гринда. Люди, вы в своём уме? Вы сейчас ни чем не лучше SJW – скама. Если для вас так важна ориентация, то не слушайте музыку Элтона Джона и не смотрите фильмы с участием
    Иэна Маккеллена. ведь они геи. Ведь на проработку и качество исполнения персонажей вам плевать. Я могу понять тех, кому игра не понравилась по разным вещам. Это нормально. Мне не нравится Mass Effect, God of War 3, Shadow of the Colossus, но мне хватает ума не лить необоснованный поток помоев в сторону игры.     Not a story that everyone can like, but a gameplay that anyone can enjoy. A technical masterpiece and no matter what they say on net, it's one of the most important PS exclusives ever made in terms of technical quality and passion.

    1/ Abby est l'un des personnages les mieux construit de l'histoire des AAA durant cette génération de console, je développe en dessous.

    Abby est une sorte de madame muscles, de musclor, mais elle cache une nature douce et possède un background très soigné. C'est l'alter ego d'Ellie, et agit comme une remplaçante de Joël. TLOU2 arrive magnifiquement bien à rendre ce personnage attachant,    1/ Abby est l'un des personnages les mieux construit de l'histoire des AAA durant cette génération de console, je développe en dessous.

    Abby est une sorte de madame muscles, de musclor, mais elle cache une nature douce et possède un background très soigné. C'est l'alter ego d'Ellie, et agit comme une remplaçante de Joël. TLOU2 arrive magnifiquement bien à rendre ce personnage attachant, et ce final, où le joueur est forcé de prendre partie est vraiment émouvant et éprouvant psychologiquement.

    2/ TLOU2 est l'un des plus beaux jeu de la génération, et rivalise, voir surpasse RDR2 par endroits, notamment grâce à son rendu de la lumière faisant presque office de Ray tracing avant l'heure.

    3/ N'en déplaise beaucoup de monde, le scénario est très bon, mais il y a certaines facilités scenartiques. Pourquoi Tommy et Ellie sont pardonnée ? On ne sait pas. Mais au fur et à mesure que l'on avance on se rend compte de toutes les thématiques et nuances que le jeu nous transmet.

    4/ TLOU2 aborde beaucoup de thématique. Que ça soit la vengeance, le pardon, les conséquences, la violence, la cruauté, la rédemption, c'est un jeu qui va vous prendre au tripes émotionnellement.

    5/ Comme attendu, l'immersion est totale dans cet univers post-apocalyptique très convainquant.

    Bref malheureusement il n'y a pas assez de place pour dire tout mon ressenti, mais le jeu possède très peu de points négatifs. Quand au soi-disant progressisme.... Il n'en est rien. Bon jeu à tous !    … Expand

    GOTY, o melhor jogo de 2020, mais um trabalho incrível da Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann se afirmando como um dos maiores da indústria. Tudo nesse jogo beira a perfeição, gráficos, jogabilidade, narrativa e tudo mais.

    Drakman wanted to push his agenda into the game, well, he did it.

    o jogo de longe é um dos mais belos da geração com uma gameplay refinada. Pecou em trazer uma história inferior ao primeiro e personagens pouco memoráveis. A trilha segue sendo linda desde o primeiro. Mesmo com atualizações vi bugs e delay de render e audio Alguns temas tragos no game não gostei da maneira que foi abordada (isso não influenciou na minha nota, foi apenas um adendo)

    For starters: The start of the game: Absolutely brilliant as twists and turns.
    The characters are rather interesting except a few.
    The scenario I prefer not to talk about it because it is lower than that of the 1st.

    In the end it is a good game but it lacks this thing that the 1st had.

The attempt to make you sympathise with Abby, (i understood her perspective) doesn't work all that well. It leaves players having to slug through her section of the story when it has a lot to offer in terms of its gameplay and story elements. I also dislike the back and fourths the game provides with Ellie constantly changing her mind between revenge and moving on. I feel the story could of worked much better had they re-sequenced the events that occur. The ending was also somewhat disappointing, I wouldn't call it a bad ending but it just wasn't what I'd of done. We see Ellie learn that no matter what she does she can't bring Joel back and will instead leave Lev in a similar position to her own (without her mentor/parental figure).

    On the bright side, I really enjoyed some of the new gameplay mechanics and thought they added a good variety to the game. However I felt there were to many resources making the game quite easy (I played on Hard). I looked at the implementation of safes in which you had to find the code in a creative way.

    Terrible game, totally ruins the legacy of the first in a failed attempt to include lots os unnecessary gay and lesbian characters, making it really similar to those new netflix series. Showing another bad aspect of the game, that is it’s overuse of cutscenes making it seems to be more like a movie than a game itself.

    The story is about revenge, with some absolutelty BRUTAL scenes, the mutilation of Joel by Abby with a golf clubpart of which is done infront of Ellie, Abby then also beats down on pregnant Dina before threatening to slit her throat... and after all this Ellie seeks revenge on Abby for all her brutality but ultimately... lets her go... completely dissatisfying.

    The game FORCES you to do various things when playing as each character.
    Ellie: you are forced to kill dogs, murder screaming, wailing people, and even kill a pregnant woman. Abby: you are FORCED to play with dogs, defend yourself against transphobic people, and save kids... this is all easy manipulation by naughty dog to encourage the player to show understanding and become sympathetic towards Abby and in turn start to dislike Ellie, but we're more intelligent than that, as when Ellie had to do questionable things she actually showed regret and remorse, but Abby on the other hand took immense pleasure in dishing out pain. This is NOT a likable character. Not to mention the sheer cheek of Naughty Dog forcing the player to play as Joel's murderer for a good portion of the game. As I stated before the Last of US Part II is a massively story driven game and this story... is a bad story. I will not give it a 0/10 as the graphics are stunning and the gameplay is much like the first installment, which I hold dear to my heart, but other than that this game was a major disappointment.     The first game was amazing, but now they have actually destroyed the story line, the narrative choice was made only focusing in one aspect just to please a political aspect, basically they forgot about the characters, gaming, game fans and everything just for politics, which is really disappointing.     The biggest beef I have with this game is that it is boring in places to play , I didn’t mind playing as Abby as u get a different perspective on the world but man the parts where u simply walk around chatting and looking at things in a room just are time fillers for the sake of being that and add nothing to the game

    I spent time after the first murderous blunder up to the end waiting for the story to self correct, just like Cortana becoming evil, to come full circle only to be extremely disappointed. The creation of a new character is like Locke in the same very game I can’t believe is so relatable. Those who embolden this game as the next best thing since sliced bread are just as feeble minded as those who thought Halo 5(the campaign) was fantastic.

    The drawn out lackluster ending after playing both sides up to the end was aggravating and slow. Here you can tell the writers just threw whatever they could at the wall on top of their horrible story itself. The game play is simple enough and relatively smooth however I noticed many frame drops on my pro, that affected my personal experience of the game play. This occurred early on in the game riding the horse to switching and during cutscenes. The only open world part of the game is the very beginning when you arrive to Seattle and after that it is all linear story telling. That alone diminished my perspective on a game that touted an open world system, though they did not say how much.

    I don’t care for or against the political statement regarding same sex couples at the end that seems to fuel anger among others. That part of the story is not my issue. I feel like I spent too much time watching a movie that lacked the needed, let alone the expected, story to follow up the first games masterpiece of writing.

    Overall I would grade this on 3 levels as follows:

    Gameplay: 6
    Graphics : 8
    Story: 2

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thoroughly loved my time with this game. It wasn't until the very end of the game that I understood how ambitious this game truly was. And to me personally, I felt that it landed it perfectly with the ending we got.

    The gameplay is fantastic. It is much better than the first game in every regard and it gives the player a ton of things to work with, given all the different scenarios.
    The story started out very strongly, and it was very shocking to see what happened to Joel. But at the same time, I knew there would be a reason for it, and there was.

    There were points in the story where I was conflicted while playing as Abby because at this point in the game you are taught to hate her, but as I got to engage with her and her personal drama I really started to enjoy playing as her as well. (also she has many of the best encounters in the game, hands down).

    I feel that they were able to make gameplay that properly challenges you mechanically but also support the story by showing how tough this world is. The graphics are also easily at the top of this industry. If not the very top, very close to it. Even though a few dynamic lights etc, were missing in the final game, I would still say that overall it pretty much reached the quality bar we saw from the pre-release demonstrations.

    The story supports the gameplay and the gameplay supports the story. Other elements such as audio and graphics are also crucial in making both story and gameplay what they are.

    This game is massive, and I don't think you can truly understand what it is about unless you play it from beginning to end on the hardest difficulty available (Survivor) to truly understand the hardships these characters go through.

    I am only giving it a 10 because it is a truly unique game that deserves recognition for what it has done. Again, this is my personal opinion.    … Expand

    Muito bom o jogo, a gameplay foi aprimorada em relação ao primeiro.
    Os gráficos são incríveis, ficam entre os melhores da geração, cenários, texturas, expressões faciais quase perfeitos.
    Já a história tomou um rumo bem diferente do esperado, mas está longe de ser ruim, apesar de não agradar a todos.
