A story focused game with extremely poor storytelling. It doesn't matter how pretty you make your game, if the gameplay is average, the story is bad and the characters unrelatable.

The last of us didn't need a sequel and this game adds nothing to do the universe.

The first LoU was a compelling story of love and redemption. It was a story of two broken people healing each other. This...this was a story from a profondly sick and disturbed mind. It is only perfect insofar as it's a representation of our unhealthy and toxic times. This game is hateful. It hates me, it hates you, it hates everyone but toxic politics which it champions in the most loud, obnoxious and crass manner possible. If anything, it's pointless. It just wants to tear down the accomplishments of the first and replace it with Satanism. The Last of Us 2 is just awful. It's a bad trip and not worth time or money. Hate to rate it a more than a 0, it is a 0...otherwise Metacritic wouldn't post my review. Paid for shill media is evil. Expand

That being said, Last of us part 2 is a lot of hits and misses, but the missed are so impact-full that it ruins the game. I pre-ordered it, because I had a lot of trust in the company, but that went out of the window. I enjoyed the game for some time, and even some controversial choices were fine by me, but then it all wend down hill and the disappointment overshadowed the enjoyment.
Here is the sum up of my thoughts of the game:
    1) Graphics - 5. The character models are good and the world is quite nice, but it becomes obvious that PS4 is no longer a decent hardware. After being able to play games on 60fps or more, the drop back to 30fps is really noticeable and worsens the experience.
    2) Sound - 9. Really good. Liked it a lot.
    3) Gameplay - 7. Its better than the first game, though (I know it's done to balance the game mechanics) some choices remain stupid. Like, you can carry 8 shells, not single more, but then you also can carry a brick. Also, the enemies spray you with bullets, but drop nothing. That being said, if you can ignore it, it's enjoyable. Really liked the weapon crafting, though, again, there were some irritating flaws that I can't reveal without spoilers. And the most annoying bit for me is the lack of mouse and keyboard (but it might be just me - it doesn't reflect the score).
    4) Story and characters - 3. I managed to get through to release without seeing a single spoiler and experienced the game as it was meant to, and I went away dissatisfied. It was not just because the events that took place, but also the character development, their choices, which seemed stupid, missing dialogs that I was waiting on and the list goes on. There were some gems, but even they were executed poorly. This game dwarfs against it's predecessor. The actors did their part really well, but it couldn't save the mess the writer made.
OVERALL: 5 (it's not a mathematical result, but an overall score), Can't recommend.

If I'd met myself few days earlier I would suggest skipping this game and keep on waiting for Cyberpunk 2077. Too bad I spent my hard earned cash on this game.

    - Too many characters, old and new.
    - Story is lame and unsatisfying.
    - Storytelling format is janky and annoying.
    - Old characters seem like totally different people.

I'll give it a 5/10. The story is what really ruined it for me. They tried too hard to do too many things at once, and utterly failed. There's a few good nuggets, but they are few and very far between. For a 30 hour game, that's just not good enough.

Every. Single. Time. This is entirely different from the Last of Us. The game seems like it's trying to tell me that cruelty and wanton murder is bad, yet it's forcing me into wanton murder and cruelty.

I already don't like it. As well-made as it is, as beautiful as it is, and as much a step up in terms of gameplay as it is, the game itself is not (so far) a worthy successor to The Last of Us. I shouldn't be made to feel bad for my actions in a game when I have zero choices as to how to act.

Shame on Naughty Dog. They can do better than this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really really wanted to like this game and reserved my judgment until the end of the game. That said, I am pretty disappointed. There were times where the game really shined but those did not outweigh the lunky storytelling. It felt like a kid wrote most of the lines in this game. They just weren’t believable. I will say the level design, environments, voice acting were all superb. I applaud their thinking in creating a fame with a diverse social cast, but as a LGBT person I think they could have done better. I thought the transgender story line was fine but they could have made the character much deeper. This game had so much promise and I am heartbroken over it not delivering. The Last Of Us part 1 is unequivocally my favorite game of all time. Neil Druckmann’s ego is too huge and he needs stop attacking his fans for expressing their opinions on the game. Really sad to see his handling of the criticism. The official reviews for this game are really suspect because I just feel they aren’t accurate. The only accurate reviews appear to be neutral or not scored. I think this highlights an issue With the professional reviewers because it appears as if they were bought. Expand

The story, main pillar of the tlou 1 and the reason why you are playing these types of games is: GARBAGE, TERRIBLE BAD GARBAGE. Yeah sorry for caps but its really that bad. Its not a story witten by pros its a twitter fanfiction, someones nasty fantasy, its political statement and its terrible cliché.
So the plot is: revenge is bad, klling is bad (but it only does metter in cutscenes not in gameplay). Thats it. Characters are shallow and ridiculous and ending is so bad you will cringe for the next ten days. Game tries so hard to be grimdark and edgy but it all comes down as a joke. This is how soy drinking woke devs imagine post apo world. And its one big LoL.
Characters satisfied needed quotas of political correctness hence the 95/100 from so called pros. Sony created needed atmosphere in which you cant criticize the game, without being labeled as troll, bigot, hater etc by far left ideologists. And obviously journos only cares about keeping it good with sony to get another game in advance.
This could keep going and going. NDs zero respect for the fan fav characters and cheap "shocking" moments that are only sign of bad writting. Zero respect for the players and tlou 1, etc etc.
Do not buy this game and if you have to buy it second hand.
Word of advice? Wait for ghost of tsushima, or if you need zombie game play days gone or wait for dying light. If you want good story about killing is bad play death stranding. Or use those money and buy something useful... just not this game. You will support everything thats bad with modern day entertainment industry.

Overall Score 0/10, combined with the misleading marketing and the trolling nature of ND and Neil Druckmann and the games journalists shilling out I have gone the other extreme and given this a score of 0. One more important reason beyond a bad story for this score is the agenda that ND is SHOVING DOWN OUR THROATS while playing the game during its story. Joel and Ellie share one unique story amongst billions within a pandemic, post-apocalyptic world. As much as we grew to love them both and shared their experiences, we could have just as easily shared Abby's story on TLoU Part 1. If that were the case, knowing what most of us know now, we would have hated Joel without having known his story, along with a different opinion of his character. Love and hate must co-exist and sometimes it comes at a cost. That is the natural order in which we live. Joel knew that he effed up, which is why he couldn't bring himself to tell Ellie the truth. He was blinded by love, anguished still by the death of his daughter and Tess. Joel was not about to lose anyone else that he cared about and he would prevent it by any means necessary. At the end of Part 1, Joel became the biggest monster of them all. We, as the player, couldn't really comprehend this because we were so involved with what he saw, to the point where we were forced to chose what he had already chosen to do; completely immersed in his hatred to the point where he had forced us into being the bad guy. This is who Abby saw, and we were never there to witness her agony. TLoU Part 2 is the aftermath of bad decisions and their repercussions. It's gut wrenching and it will break you down. But if you're gonna rate it, don't base it on the characters human retributions. The game-play is solid, with new features and the new workbench weapon upgrade system is the best that I've seen. My 8 rating isn't for just how much I love it for all the new in-game features and abilities, but for how much I l LOVE to **** hate it. It's a story that I feel will stick with you, long after it's over. If you can't handle a dose of dark principles, go play some Mario Kart. I will rate again after I've finished the game. Expand

But the story on the other hand did the opposite of impressing me.
I won't get into spoilers but I will say that the themes this game try's to go over such as the cycle of violence has been done to death before hand and has been done better in other forms of media.
The dialogue in the game as well as the character writing as well is godawful.

Unreasonable: In reality, yes people can sometimes die randomly for the most absurd reasons, but for storytelling, the journeys of main characters, especially the endings, should help the development of the story and characters in a progressive and meaningful way. At the very least, the way how they kill or die should align with their mindsets to make it reasonable. Characters in this game, nonetheless, contradict themselves in many ways. One example that fewer people have discussed is that one will only kill one person from an opposing group, sparing the rest of the group (whom were already captured) for later vengeance, under the Apocalyptic scenario. The lazy-written and ridiculous plot ruins both the old and new characters and makes them hardly authentic or likable.

Inconsistent: A story should have a main theme to convey and should convey it consistently via the natural and progressive buildup by the plot. However, at the end of this game it uses 5 minutes to go abruptly against its theme throughout the previous 20-hour gameplay, making all these journeys and characters meaningless and even laughable, and the ideology the story trying to deliver hypocritical.

Verdict: There're other issues like pacing and unnecessarily excessive violence (for nothing), but the flawed story/storytelling is the root of my dissatisfaction. It's a real shame that devs work overtime for such a beautifully crafted world just for the corrupted plot.

Entering an abandoned house, and finding traces of the people who lived there is very cool, whether in documents left behind or in objects, it is absurdly immersive and expands to the universe of the game. Those infected are even more brutal than before. Human enemies bring an even greater degree of difficulty. And we do wonder what can be worse than people in this post-apocalyptic world.

    I explain the assessment.
I don’t care about the LGBT agenda.
The problem is in a game that parasitizes on the glory of the first part.
    Let's analyze the points:
    1. Attention to detail
In the settlement, the NPCs do not even talk to each other, the developers did not think of registering dialogs with the extras. In the first part this was not. Yes, even in Halva the second census was livelier. I can bring a lot of such examples.
    2. Gameplay
Added one feature, Ellie now knows how to crawl, otherwise it copies the breakthrough gameplay of the first part. There is no innovation, well, at least not worse.
    3. Graphics
Landscapes look worse than in RDR 2 last year, but this is why it can not be called a breakthrough. It is at least worse than one game (or even more, because there is still God of War 4). Facial expression is no better than in the first part or Uncharted 4. A breakthrough in 7 years has not occurred.
    4. Characters
Not a single character evokes sympathy, not even the matured Ellie. Drackman has scenario impotence. Only Joel pleases, but his screen time is very short, and the character is attractive only thanks to the disclosure in the first part.
    5. The plot
Banalism, with very rotten scenario twists, one scene with giraffes in the first part, puts this whole game on its knees. But in the first part there was Joel’s injury, the establishment of relationships between the two main characters, a meeting with cannibals, a meeting with black brothers, etc. etc. And what is the ending there, just a brain explosion, here it causes only bewilderment.

This game is a miserable experience from start to finish (and some will try to argue that is its selling point). -The shooting mechanics in Last Of Us 1 felt more arcade-y while in The Last Of Us 2 the shooting mechanics are more realistic. The weapon customization is simple but not intrusive, and give you a greater advantage over enemies.
    - Heavily improved animations in game-play sections compared to The Last Of Us 1. They feel more fluid and due to the technology that Naughty Dog have used, there is minimal input latency (one of the cons I had with Red Dead Redemption 2)
-The game is much more gory and grotesque, as it should be in an apocalyptic setting like this.
-Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson once again give a superb performance. Laura Bailey also portrays the newcomer Abby very well too.
-The audio design is probably my favourite of this generation, from the echoes of the clickers through the hallways of abandoned courtrooms to the gargling noises made by enemies after Ellie hits them with a stealth kill. It's brutal.
-The Last Of Us has upgraded visuals over its predecessor, but it is able to keep the same visuals as its predecessor when it comes to character design. The environment detail is unrivalled and the reflections in the water are beautiful.
-The story is very cinematic and the set-pieces throughout are brilliant. There were moments throughout the story that were shocking and boosted the story, and in my opinion it works. If I could split this into three acts (Jackson, Seattle, Santa Barbara), the third act shines and leaves some interesting tidbits for a potential sequel.

    Cons:
-The game-play is brilliant, but however can become repetitive due to the structure of the encounters being relatively the same. Some of the exploration puzzles are sometimes repeated but not too often to become annoying.
-I would've liked to see more customization options in the game, specifically pertaining to characters. For both character upgrades and weapon upgrades, I wish that New Game Plus wasn't a necessity in order to unlock all upgrades. I want to be able to upgrade all of Ellie's skills and weapons in the first play-through in order to use them in New Game Plus from the beginning.
-I played the difficulty on Hard and it was a very challenging and rewarding experience, however I believe the difficulty specifications should be adjusted. Playing New Game Plus on Moderate+ is vastly easier than Hard+, and Survivor+ could be infuriating frustrating for the wrong reasons. Props to Naughty Dog for allowing a custom difficulty where you can tweak certain aspects, however.
-The content of the story is brilliant and I bear no problems with any happenings to the main characters. However I believe the structure of the narrative is off and certain moments could come in different order.

    Improvements?
-Similar to the Batman Arkham Series, it would be great to feature some bonus Challenge Levels for Encounters.
    - I want to be able to replay a chapter and grab the collectibles I missed without resorting to deleting all game progress beyond that point in the story.

It's obvious that Naughty Dog have clearly tried to make something for the sole purpose of creating something "artsy" more so than being an enjoyable experience in any regard. As a result, The Last of Us Part II feels like what might just be the perfect definition of a "sequel that didn't need to exist".

Starting with the games positives, if there is one thing I can give Naughty Dog, it is definitely the game's graphics. The game is a technological marvel, and is perhaps the best video game I've seen from a graphical perspective in my life. However, this is where my praise for the game ends. Not only is the gameplay significantly stripped down from its predecessor (most notably, the removal of TLoU's fantastic multiplayer mode), but the main selling point of the first game, the story, has been turned into completely jumbled mess that is filled with plot twists with zero purpose, plot holes upon plot holes, and absolutely nonsensical logic. Characters are introduced and forced upon the player for no reason and players are expected to like them for no reason. Similarly, characters are killed and ripped away from the player with very little reasoning behind their deaths. The story stops and takes breaks for completely nonsensical moments, characters now act in ways that would make absolutely no sense in a post-apocalyptic world, and Ellie, now the main character of the story, has justifications that are completely contradictory to her existence in the original game.

As someone who loved the first game, I just can't help but feel let down by The Last of Us Part II. It feels like Naughty Dog tried so hard to create an "artistic masterpiece" that they forgot what they were actually making. A video game. As a result, the game feels undeniably devoid of the passion that makes up Naughty Dog's previous products, including the original TLoU, and it suffers greatly for it.

If Neil Druckmann's goal was to create a sequel that achieves little aside from spitting on the first game's grave, then he did an absolutely fantastic job. I wouldn't recommend this game if you haven't played the first game, and I ESPECIALLY would not recommend this game if you have.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, before some fool thinks my dislike of this game has anything to do with LBGQT, I loved the first game and thought Bill's homosexuality was done well and the Left Behind DLC was great and makes perfect sense in the context of this world that Ellie would be attracted to women instead of men.

I was really enjoying this game even though the story is mediocre but then they made me play as Abby for a second time after what she did to start the game. I have absolutely no interest in playing that character and could care less about her story after what she's done. If the devs would have put her story before the incident it would've made it much less infuriating that I have to play for an extended period of time as her even though all the marketing was designed to mislead gamers into thinking we'd be playing as Ellie and interacting with Joel often. Despite that, I was ready to give the game an 8 or 9 because I was enjoying the gameplay, but considering how difficult it's going to be to finish the game because I can't stand Abby I just can't. The gameplay is much improved from the first game. The story isn't nearly as good but the voice acting is amazing and the graphics are beautiful. I really wish they hadn't decided to put Abby's story near the end because it completely ruined the climax that had been building with Ellie's journey. Abby getting the upper hand was very cliche, the typical bad guy gets the jump on the good guy off camera scenario we really should've been able to fight Abby and have a choice on dealing with her. I don't need a 25-hour lecture on how bad revenge is, everyone knows revenge is bad and it's not a concept that leads to a lot of motivation for an entire game. This game is really Abby's journey not Ellie's as you play longer as Abby than you do as Ellie but Abby was NEVER going to be a sympathetic character after brutally beating and coldly murdering Joel. I know Manny is NOT Druckman but the resemblance cannot be denied which adds a lot of symbolism to that character spitting on Joel's corpse.
One of the most upsetting aspects of the story in this game is characters not acting like themselves. Joel was one of the most careful characters you could imagine in the first game yet surrounded by strangers he gives out his name, give me a break. The idea that 5 years in Jackson while going on patrols would make him that careless doesn't make sense. Joel didn't even fully trust Ellie until they got to Jackson in the first game and even that took Ellie running away for him to finally give in to his feelings for her.

If the marketing for this game wasn't so misleading and they had treated Joel with more respect I seriously doubt there would be this much hate for the game. It appears Druckman had the idea of Revenge as a central story and clumsily altered the characters to fit that narrative rather than allowing the characters to tell the story which is part of what made the first game's story so amazing.

One last frustrating major plot hole is that Ellie kills over a hundred WLF and Scars but in the end changes her mind and that choice is taken out of the player's hands??? In the end, they couldn't even give the player the satisfaction of eliminating the character that disrespected such a beloved protagonist.

Yes I know that was the point that Joel didn't deserve a heroes ending but at the very least he deserved to go out in character. One of the things I loved about the original was that despite living in a world that was dark and horrible there was a beauty in Joel and Ellie's relationship which was a ray of light in the darkness. This game does away with any message other than revenge destroys everyone involved and everything sux. It's easy to simply leave the characters in darkness in a world like this but took something extra in the first game to leave the player with a question after it ended, was that a good /positive ending?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Game as an overall is not terrible like 0s,1s, or 2s. I agree with the opinions of many people that the graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay are top-notch as always from Naughty Dog.

What’s let’s everyone down is the story which is obvious. That most of the people here who are the fans of the original story dislike it with passion just as much as I do. But beware down below are the spoilers for the story. Those who do not want the story to be spoiled please do not read it !!!!!

Five main things that ruined the story so much

    - Killing of Joel in the first two hours of the game IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE WITH FUKING GOLF CLUB !!!!
    - Playing as Abby the person who killed Joel who NO ONE CARES ABOUT !!!!
    - New characters like Dina and Jesse are useless, unlike Joel they don’t have good chemistry with Ellie at ALL!!!
    - Ellie lets go of her vengeance by not killing Abby because Joel’s vision SERIOUSLY !!!!
    - The most miserable ending ever DINA LEAVES ELLIE WITH HER CHILD, ELLIE CAN’T EVEN PLAY HER GUITAR ANYMORE because Abby bites two of her finger off from her final fight and THE GUITAR WAS PLAYED IN MEMORY OF JOEL THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON TO HER LIFE !!!!

Seriously WTF WAS NEIL THINKING WHEN HE WROTE THIS SORRY EXCUSE OF AN ENDING TO THIS GAME. The only reason I gave 6 like most people giving 0s, 1s, or 2s was that the atmosphere, gameplay, and graphics were just FREAKIN amazing for a PS4 game that it could pass off as a PS5 GAME !!!!

First things first there are plenty of things about this game to pick fault with but the culture war stuff feels entirely unnecessary. Thing is though it'd be the same if the characters weren't "SJW" they'd still be naff characters so try to look past that and take the game on its own merits.

Anyway my first 5 hours with the game had me ready to write this off as an exercise in frustration. Right off the bat if you're not into stealth games you're probably gonna have a bad time. It can be very unforgiving and some of the combat encounters can feel a bit laborious. Once you get further in though it all feels like it clicks into place and you get a real feel for what you're doing. For me the story was a harrowing experience but very well delivered subjectively of course.

In retrospect I've dropped the score down to an 8 as the more I've thought about it the more niggles have cropped up. The tendancy to lavishly animate literally everything wears thin and ironically lends an air of uncanny valley when you're doing something quintessentially videogamey like crafting or upgrading. What you're doing isn't especially realistic within the time frame so it's odd to see it played out with hyper realistic animations. I'd rather they saved the fancy animations for the meat and potatoes of the combat, exploration and social interactions. Would save the players time and likely cut down on unnecessary Dev crunch.

Also the game could stand to lose a few hours and would probably be better for it. Plus some of Ellie's behaviour and decisions later in the game I just couldn't quite suspend my disbelief on which took me out of it a bit.

If you're in the market for a decent stealth game with oodles of exploration and insane visuals with a good story to boot then you're in for a treat. Just be aware that it's extremely heavy going emotionally and is very stealth focused.

Their is little to no character agency and you are pretty much forced to play out the story prescribed even though there is opportunity for temporary deviations. The story has to be my biggest bugbear. It's clearly agenda driven, wokerati, virtue-signalling nonsense throughout. The moralisation is heavy handed and forced throughout. Suffice to say that if you are just a normal gamer this may be very off-putting. Also, the incredible brutality and violence throughout seems to serve no purpose. There's no glory, no funny moments, it's just downbeat and depressing. I can't understand how this can be so different from the first game which was heart warming and fun to play. What a terrible waste of 6-7 years of development. I wish they would leave their politics at the door with these games. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why would you do this to us. This is what happens when you make the characters fit the plot and not vice-versa, you know, when it works. Joel turns into an absolutely idiotic character irecognizable from the last game; he helps a damsel in distress, he & Tommy say their names in front of a stranger twice, which, Joel, knowing what he did, would never do, and then Tommy & him tell them where they currently reside and the former thinks it's a good idea to let them re-stock their supplies. May I remind you that these two are badass survivors who know their fair share of knowledge of the world around them & the people that live in it. Joel completely called a bluff on the ambush that he & Ellie were being a victim of with only a few visual cues. I think this encapsulates all of the Last of Us Pt. 2's plot devices, which fall victim on the same kind of mistakes.

For a game so well designed in other departments (level design is amazing, specially the underwater-sniper-Abby vs. Tommy scene; graphically, the game is stunning, even if we're getting into uncanny valley real fast), the game has some serious plot holes and a story that leaves you a really bad taste, not for the death of your favorite characters, but because it's poorly structured. Clearly, the Abby section should've been first, in order to empathize with her & her reasons.

I don't wanna extend myself so much, but something I haven't heard so much hate about is the gameplay, which deserves it's criticisms. When you don't improve onto an overall gameplay mechanic which was stablished in 2013, there's something wrong with your game. You know what games happened between then & 2020? Metal Gear Solid V, Dishonored 2, etc. And yes, I'm focusing mainly on examples made by stealth games because TLOU2 is, primarely, a stealth game. These games, too, know how to spice things up with clever level design, which I think TLOU2 has, and clever and revolutionary game mechanics, which this game lacks, and it shows in the repetitive gameplay.

The last thing to point out by my part is that the game punishes you and makes you feel like "The Bad Guy" playing as Ellie, at least, while giving you no alternative option for murder. Joel's death is shown almost on it's entirety, with all it's gore & graphic detail involved, while, when Ellie catches Nora, it's not shown at all how she massacres her, when it would've been satisfactory for the main audience. When your game portrays a message of "REVENGE = BAD" you should stick to it and give the player some valid options to make the least killing possible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ultimately I wanted to give this a 10 on two principles, most importantly I think this will be looked back on as one of the most important games to be released and may even mark the start of a new trend in story telling in games and maybe even other media and secondly because the people giving this 0 need to go play superman N64.

That being said there a couple of things that bugged me so 9/ 9.5

Getting a few things out of the way first, visually its probably just dethroned GOW and HZD for prettiest game this console cycle, right up till the beach scene at the end where they must have taken their foot of the peddle because them textures and depth of field fall off a literal cliff.

You wont find a game with better writing or understanding of how to set a scene, its cinematic quality in both standards and that speaks to how far games have come as a medium, you could take the gameplay out and this would have been a top notch movie.

Problems, why yes I have some minor gripes. Jumping is bizzare, I get its meant to be realistic but Lev monkeys his way around so why cant I jump more then half a foot without looking like I havent got off the couch for a while. The UI is still isnt very intuitive, often when things arent going your way you need to react quickly and navigating that menu just doesnt feel natural, if its designed to stress me out further then well done. That being said I didnt look into the control settings so maybe there is something in there.
The medical supply quest also felt a little unrewarding, I understand why it needs to be there but blah it probably could have been something else.

Finally the elephant in the room, I am going to ignore the small minded people who are hung up on the LGBT issue and move right on to the two pronged story, this is the first game I can think of that removes the notion of Good vs Evil and puts emotional weight into everything that has happened to that point and even more on whats happens for remainder of the game. The "enemy" suddenly become fully fleshed out characters with their own lives and purpose and you dont get a choice, personally I love it. The world isnt black and white so why should all games be.

I understand if you dont like that in your games but its not exactly like Naughty Dog hides any of this, the opening minutes of the very first game has someone making the exact same decision so when your response to "Not liking a story" is to give a game 0. It blows my mind, its so childish that it doesn't surprise me the story doesn't appeal to you but honestly its just disappointing.

    Great game, 9.5/10

Although I am not rating this game high I still believe it is one of the best games created for the current generations. Game play wise we do not see anything new, just tweaks, adjustments and additional already existing mechanics from games we know but they still give this new feeling especially considering the first game. Graphics, Animations and music are beautifully implemented and you can once again immerse into the world after the fungus apocalypse. Now it is time to review the story, which is the main reason for poor user reviews for the game. I have to say that although I liked it, I was still missing the main reason most of us loved the first part, which is the relation between main characters. This game is almost twice as long comparing to the first part but still it feels like it took to little to make us feel connection between our main protagonist Ellie and the rest of the characters. I especially feel that second half of the game is focusing too much on something we as a players do not really care about. This part of the story should be much shorter and time and money spent on it could dig deeper into secondary characters included in the story that will resolve in more effective way of connecting us to Ellie's feeling during the play through. Main driver of the story is vengeance, plot point known for ages and used multiple times that we already know that it has two sides. I think that this is the main reason this game does not fulfill our expectations as the moral of the story is known since ages and we are treated like it is some kind of new discovery. In my opinion if the story had more time to focus on old and new characters for most part of the game and do the vengeance part towards the end this game would be 10/10 for sure. Unfortunately this did not happen and we are left with a great game but with flat story that comparing to the first one does not leave you thinking about it during the credits. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros: Art, graphics, feel
Cons: story, plot, characters (pretty much the core of the game)

Overall, I take issue with almost the entirety of TLOU2 apart from general graphics. TLOU1 is essentially heavy on the story and character development side whereas TLOU2, I felt no connection and as for the story I still don't know what is going on. You jump around way too much due to a ridiculous amount of plot holes.

They, naughty dog, decided to kill off Joel within 2 hours of initial game play and replaced the iconic and legendary character with another male. Woman? I honestly have no idea what Abby is. I sincerely don't and that is a huge problem. It's gender should not be subjective. It needs to be clearly defined because gamers are following THEIR story. I will assume Abby is a dude since his muscles are double the size of mine.

Apart from Ellie and Abby, how do you follow the characters? There are so many.

The sex scene between Abby and Owen, which I get is for a curb ball, should not be in a game. It was incredibly and horrifically cringe beyond contestation. I don't enjoy watching two gay men go at it. I don't. There should have been a warning - in fact a trigger warning - about the inevitable gay cut scene. My god I am going to jolt awake in my nightmares because of that scene. I wish I could unsee it.

That's as far as I have gotten and I haven't turned the game on since. A little over 2 hours in. I am done. My refund is underway. How the F did naughty dog stray so far away from greatness? I mean it sincerely. TLOU1 exceeded all of my expectation and I had high expectations. TLOU2 is a disgusting joke to say the least. I am actually furious that I wasted my time.

It's sad to realize that the public in general is not prepared for something more mature and realistic. LIFE IS RANDOM AND NOT EVERYBODY GETS WHAT THEY DESERVE.
