    Graphics? absolutely amazing, didn't expect anything else from Naughty Dog but yeah, this game looks amazing animations, voice acting, everything else too, just amazing.
    Gameplay? Debateable. I found it to be lacking, not really much development since Last Of Us 1, but it was still fun to play.
    Story? Absolutely atrocious. It completely **** over everything from the first game,    Graphics? absolutely amazing, didn't expect anything else from Naughty Dog but yeah, this game looks amazing animations, voice acting, everything else too, just amazing.
    Gameplay? Debateable. I found it to be lacking, not really much development since Last Of Us 1, but it was still fun to play.
    Story? Absolutely atrocious. It completely **** over everything from the first game, unlikeable new characters, it just makes you want to stop playing the game entirely. I don't have a problem with crazy plot twists and subverted expectations, but this is just an insult to everyone who played the first game, just lots of drama and violence don't make a good story. However i did like how the game represented LGBT characters, not being on the nose about "look how progressive we are", that was done really well.

    So if everything is great except the story, why only a 3/10?
    Because the story is the most important part of this game, by a long shot. It's the reason everbody loved the first one and it's the reason this game is selling like hot cakes, but it's just a **** slap in the face.

    I hope this game is just a mishap, because i still love Naughty Dog and hope their next game will be a good one again.    … Expand

    Graphically it is gorgeous and I believe pushes the PS4 as far as it can probably go. The performance was also decent throughout the game, with very few barely noticeable dips in FPS. There are some bugs in the game, but nothing game-breaking.

    I enjoyed the selection of weapons and modifications that come with said weapons. AI is somewhat better than TLOU but nothing impressive tbh. I suppose we will have to wait another 10-20 years for AI improvements that might make games feel challenging without relying on "do more damage to player"

    The biggest failure for this game is the story itself. It is confusing and extremely painful to watch/play. I am not even referring to the excessive and unnecessary violence that takes place throughout the game without any reason whatsoever.

    I am referring to the fact that you commit all of these violent acts in order to get revenge... And after having murdered enough people to equal the population of a small village, you let the person you went to kill and get "revenge" on... Go.

    Rendering the killing of all those NPC lives meaningless. It makes Tarantino and Michael B movies look amazing in comparison.
    The one thing this game does right is angering the viewer/player by making them watch one of their favorites and arguably one of the most beloved/favored characters in decades, and then follows it by FORCING!

    The player to play as the one who murdered Joel in order to redeem her and or give us some background and understanding why she did it.
    However, at that point, the majority of people are thinking about only one thing. I want to strangle this character. Which they never get to do because she is this amazing new character that we are supposed to feel for and have some sex scenes with. Why the unnecessary and completely pointless sex scene? I don't know...

    Final thoughts. A lot of naive and brainwashed individuals will tell you that angry trolls and fake accounts/bots are the only ones reviewing it. I say to you, read the reviews of TLOU. They were very likely written by the very same people who are now referred too as "Toxic" by the corrupt "critics".

    All the 10/10 reviews were written out of fear of being blacklisted by Sony and or Naughty Dog. You see, review copies and everything else that comes with being a Sony Shill, are all they care about. Not you the customer.

    ND played on our/your emotions, they used Joel on the trailer in a cleverly edited way, which in the game turned out to be Jesse... Covering Ellie's mouth from behind. Except we saw Joel on the trailer. They used that to bait people in and it worked. They, later on, forced all reviewers to never mention Abby or what happens to Joel, because if people knew, they would cancel their preorders.

    This game receives a 3/10 for dishonest marketing during its initial trailer, a terribly written story that tries too hard to be all "revenge bad". Oh, and by the way... I just finished killing 20.000 people to make my point this game was trying to make.    … Expand

Graphically its amazing, gameplay wise its an upgrade over the previous game and in many ways a much more enjoyable experience. So now it comes to the story. The story was not as good, plain and simple. But here is the deal, while it isn't as good the execution of it is superb. The acting and writing are cinemaI'm going to give my honest opinion here. TLOU 2 I a very well made game. Graphically its amazing, gameplay wise its an upgrade over the previous game and in many ways a much more enjoyable experience. So now it comes to the story. He was a beloved character from the first game, if you want to kill him off, fine, but give him a real end. Have him die like a hero sacrificing himself to protect Ellie at the very end of the game or something, not like an idiot at the start of the game. It ruins the entire story the first game built, and TLOU is a game whose strong point was the story. Why, just why, ND?… Expand

    It is a decent game that has its merits, but it is not a worthy successor of such an amazing game as the TLoU is. TLoU2 is a technical marvel with lackluster and annoying plot that does not improve on the original gameplay mehcanics. Huge dissapointment, but still a great game to play. I'm doing my second playthrough now, to get the platinum trophy and I'd say that I'm having more fun now,It is a decent game that has its merits, but it is not a worthy successor of such an amazing game as the TLoU is.     They take this to an extremely stupid place, with Joel dying and Ellie murdering all of Abby's(child of an NPC in first game that golf clubs Joel) crew, only to suddenly realized revenge isnt worth it after Tommy is shot, she loses everything to include 2 fingers and already killed people far more innocent then Abby to just let her live. It then ends on a weird note that Joel is evil and it's better to let someone who murdered essentially you father live because revenge is bad even though you already killed like a 100 people for that revenge.    … Expand

    While the graphics are fantastic, the audio is polished, and “technically” this is extremely well done, this is unfortunately a case of shoe-horned political propaganda into a video game, which totally alienates players from the experience. Character’s are freakishly unrelatable for any normal person & the story is cringe levels of awful. Most importantly though, the gameplay loop feelsWhile the graphics are fantastic, the audio is polished, and “technically” this is extremely well done, this is unfortunately a case of shoe-horned political propaganda into a video game, which totally alienates players from the experience.     The games media critic scores are simply championing the political stance the game takes. The fact that this game is rated higher than classics like God of War, Doom Eternal, or Bloodborne frankly only serves to undermine games journalism down to simply a meme.

    A story driven game with a horrible story. Everything is executed in the wrong order and your generic trading in good writing for shock factor. Joel is an idiot, Ellie is a depressed angry lesbian and there is no satisfying closure. This game just makes you annoyed and spits in your face in a way you can tell they were trying to make it an "artsy thing", but with the lazy 8th grade writingA story driven game with a horrible story.     A major letdown for the fans who fell in love with Joel and Ellie in the original game. Both characters and fans deserved better than this for the sequel. Gaming in general deserves better. Bummer...

    I don’t understand why this game is getting this much hate, but throughout this generation of consoles this game is probably the best game, fluid game mechanics and pretty good story. The story is different from the pervious game, A more mature story with a darker theme and complicated relationships.     People here are just complaining cuz the didnt get their fairytale ending? That's what it looks like. Why do they say the story and characters are badly written? Sure, the first game is superior, but by no means TLUS2 is a bad game, kinda dated in the gameplay side of things, but still a solid game.
    I'll be the first one to complain about SJW agenda on hollywood and mainstream media, and yet it didnt seemed forced as many people are saying. It had been established since the first game what Ellie's sexual preferences were and tbh it didnt matter.
    Storytelling is pretty good, they make us care, you want ellie to get revenge, I dont mind Joel being dead, it gives tha player motives and it follows up from the TLU and Joel's decisions to not let Ellie die to save humanity. Cause and effect (no fairytale BS like many man childs here seem to want).
    it perfectly sets the scene for this game, revenge, either by Abby and by Ellie. Along the way both of them lose friends on each others quest for revenge.
    Another complain is having to play as Abby, while i Admit her playthrough is kinda dull, is good to know both sides of the story in an effort to understand every character's motivation and goals.
    And finally the last complain "why go through all of that if you are going te let her live?"
    I am, by no means a genius, but cmon you guys need to pay more attention to the story. When fighting Abby she has a final flashback about Joel that causes her to spare Abby. And from that we learned that Ellie confronted Joel about saving her from the fireflies a day before his death, basically telling him that she would never forgive him and pausing and finally saying that she will like to try it, explicitly saying she was on a path of forgiveness. Joel at least died knowing that.
    Killing Abby would've continued that path of revenge and wouldve made Ellie make the same mistakes he resented Joel for.
    In the end she loses Dina and her child, all for revenge.
    But narrow minded people only seem to care about Joel dying, SJW propaganda and not even try to understand the whole picture is IDIOTIC.    … Expand

    I got this game because of all the hype and the awards it won. I was disappointed. The gameplay was very linear. You just follow the story in a straight line...no real challenge. Very few puzzles. Very little variety in the game. I'd rather play a game, not just act out a movie. The story wasn't original at all. It's just TWD + Resident Evil + 28 days later. They go out of their way toI got this game because of all the hype and the awards it won. I was disappointed. The gameplay was very linear. The identity politics was just off-putting and irrelevant for the story and many aspects were not "beautiful" as the pretentious writers think...it's a major eye roll. On the positives, the scenery and general world building was great. But that's about it. Really annoyed by this game and disappointed. Sorry, Resident Evil is still WAAYYYYYY better. Contar una historia LGTBI esta bien, ha día de hoy nadie tiene problemas con ese tipo de cosas, pero aquí no pega, quizás en una historia desde 0 si, pero aquí ya con la parte 1, no tiene sentido.     Great graphics; good ost and animations; a non innovative gameplay, which overstays it's welcome and ends up making the last third of the game boring, and a story that harms it's self for the sake of delivering a message, one that could have been delivered without harming the structure nor the pacing nor the characters.

Naughty Dog ruined the franchise and the characters everyone loved and made us play as the villain for hours for no reason, basically a walking movie. How would you enjoy that? Not to mention the totally random and raw deaths that feel robotic. The first part of TLOU was so much better and well done, this game is not and is not worth the name of a sequel.… Expand

    And it kind of sucks to be honest.

    Why did they retconned the ending of Part1? Why did they completely swapped out the two most important characters to replace them with morons? I don't get it. It looks and sounds awesome for sure, yet I can't appreciate the final product at all. Why? Because TLoU was never about looks, sound or even gameplay. Admit it, the gameplay always was mediocre at best. It was the narrative that made it a masterpiece. There was this overreaching major storyarc of saving humanity and there was the evolving relationship between a girl that never learned what true love is and a father who thought that true love died with his daughter years ago...and yet both found what they never expected: True love for each other. And at the end this true love was more important to Joel than humanity itself.

    And TLoU2 **** on all of it! It's just a mere revenge story with no giant storyarc that pushes everything forward. Just bitterness back and forth with stupid character writing that really boggled my mind while playing it. Thanks Naughty Dog for destroying a franchise. I'm really glad the first one will always be a perfect interactive movie that didn't need a sequel anyway. It got a sequel...but I'll erase it out of my memory for sure.

    My score is for the technical standards alone. The Story/Writing gets a bold 1/10 from me.    … Expand

    Sound, not bad I can hear everything pretty well but nothing pop out at me.

    Gameplay, This is where the game falls apart, besides the story. Biggest issue was the camera, it let you move it but shot you back to what the game wanted you to see. Example, I was trying to look at the sky at one point but the game decide to say, "Hey look at this wall you passed six times" and no there was no enemies on the other side. This becomes worse in combat when you dodge sometimes the camera swings to look at your face but now you cant see the opponent you're fighting.
    Besides that the play style is the same except for the shives they took that out so now Ellie can sneak attack all she wants. That is until you play as Abby(the new character) then new enemies show up that require a shive.

    Story, OK so, the leak is correct. Short Summary- Joel dies, new character joins(Abby), revenge, revenge, revenge. That's pretty mush it .
    but lets flush some of it out. Joel dies yes which kicks off the whole adventure of revenge. that's right about 20mins in and he's dead. Ellie sets off to get revenge on 6 people with her girlfriend, yes Ellie is a lesbian, no her girlfriend is not Abby. and about this time Abby shows up but now you can play her turns out Abby is apart of the crew that killed Joel, so you play as the protagonist and the antagonist. Ellie gets her revenge on all but one, Abby. Until the end then you start the game over but from Abby's point of view but she has flashbacks, every damn time you finish a part its a flashback or flash forward depending on how stupid they want it to be and its all about Abby getting revenge for her dead friends. Once Abby's side is over you finally get to see the ending but you have to fight Ellie as Abby, then Abby says **** it I'm giving you your life bye". So that's the end? Nope now Ellie goes hunting again after some time has past but this time you fight Abby as Ellie. All this just to have both Ellie and Abby give up on revenge and go their separate ways.
    Ellie loses her girlfriend because she couldn't stop sooner and Abby is now on the run from her group.

    Overall, the Graphics aren't much to hold up since they are PS3 graphics still. Sound was present but I could have put on any music and it would have been the same. Gameplay was a mess with the camera going everywhere except where I want it to go right now and at times the Controls felt too different, one button jumps, one button crouches, one button snaps the camera back forward and if you're like me hitting to many buttons to quickly you find your self thrown into a wall 10 ft away and you need to figure out where you are now while getting shot at or mauled by 2 clickers and 4 stalkers. Story everyone already knows I just don't know why had to add on 5 more hours of filler and then 3 hours of conclusion for the conclusion.
    4/10 wait for a big sale like 90% sale.    … Expand

It was falsely marketed to hide the fact the story is not about Joel and Ellie, but a horrible torture porn revenge plot. Our old beloved characters are made into villans and brutally discarded along the way.

    The main theme of the game is "revenge is bad" but Abby gets her revenge and lives happily ever after?

    For all the bad user reviews, the game still is one of the best made on the PS4. The plot was fitting, as well as every bit as good (and excruciating) as TLOU1. The gameplay was immersive and downright fun. If you have problems with people who are different from you, then that's really your own problem (not one with the game).

    They are simply phenomenal. The animations are not one finished set simply played back, they are made up from all the things your character is currently doing or is close to in this world in a way I have not seen before. E.g. she (your character) wants to jump an obstacle and her left foot would be the dominant one judging from the state of her walking animation, she uses her left foot which ties her into the surroundings so fluently. And the amount of sound feedback you get, when just walking through a plastic curtain adds to that. They even thought of the dust on the floor. Crawl through the dust, it gets wiped away.

    Sometimes this animation-combo may look wonky though, there are some occasional graphic-glitches and in certain areas the walking speed doesn’t match the animations, but nothing too serious. 10/10

    Gameplay

    It is a consistent improvement of the first part. You feel the same, but everything is better. You have the additional crawling state to be even more stealthy, different heights of grass to dive into and more corners to cut, like cracks in a wall, or crawling under vehicles. Players may also consider this state for your accuracy: Crawling = highest accuracy. Plus all the “arenas” you are in when engaging enemies are now much bigger (as is the world in general). And some of the fights and enemies are special and need different approaches. You really get to engage situations in a lot of different ways.

    Physics play a bigger role in the riddles (Cue the rope physics examples) and the distinction between stealth- and walking-phases are broken up. Expect enemies at all times, even when using a workbench. And don’t expect them to be just one faction, keep your guard up at all times.

    Paired with what I said about the animation, I got the sensation I had years ago when first playing a game with fire damage. Just. So. Cool.

    Having said that, the gameplay is sadly also the weakest part of the game. There is definitely missed potential here or some much too obvious flaws and it does feel repetitive at times.

    The riddles are scarce, short and simple. Even getting into the stash rooms or getting safe combinations is not really something that gives you a rewarding feeling in the end, compared to God Of War for example, because it wasn’t that hard.

    Enemies get instanced in chunks to steer your experience, taking away your agency. There is one level where you go down a destroyed building and my sniper rifle and hearing could really have given me an advantage here, taking stalkers out from above, but no, they only appeared once I reached the level they are in. In these moments you realize the designers are being in control over your game in a way that is just too obvious.

    And one really annoying detail: Sometimes you have to hastily move around a specific item you want to pick up for your character to get just the right angle to finally do it. Bummer.

    Overall: Very cool experience, some nasty flaws. 7/10

    Story

    As with all Naughty Dog Games by far the best part of it.

    I don’t want to say too much here, because spoiling this story will take away everything that is so good about it. But I will say this: It is a long and challenging tale that feels epic and meaningful. It is a slow burner, with lots of ups and downs, that really make you feel. You feel upset, you feel happy, you feel relieved, you feel heartbroken and so on. No twist is arbitrary, everything makes sense. Especially the biggest twist in the beginning.

    It starts out as a revenge story though. And if you're not on board with everything your character does, you feel forced by the designers to do something you don’t want to do - e.g. probably sooner than your character, you as the player want her to grow and “be the good guy/girl”. You don’t even get the option of “not acting”, sometimes forcing you to do unspeakable things. That may be crossing a line for some, especially paired with what I already said about feeling steered by the designers. But it’s also not something spoiling the story itself.

    Lastly, the storytelling via exploration… it’s perfection. You can spend hours over hours looking at a decayed apartment, reading its inhabitants last notes and imagining what might have happened there. Perfection is all I can say.

    Altogether easy 10/10. Would give more if possible.

    So overall 9/10, gameplay being the biggest flaw. It’s definitely worth the money. Play it, judge for yourself.

    Also: I wouldn’t mind playing a sequel or spinoff with a certain bulky someone at its center.    … Expand

There's a difference between art and propaganda, if I can gauge the entirety of the author's worldview by their work it is not a well developed piece, especially if the narrative falls within the archetypal sensibilities of an ideologue. I've gained nothing from this story, I could go to tumblr and read better fan fictions. It's just iconoclasm of the most vengeful sort, to kill a beloved character with indignity and no resolution to that, while having the villain escape scot free due to characteristics considered protected by the author.     Both Abby and Ellie do not mature or get character development and they essentially remain the same towards end of the game. Player's spend hours seeing their character get revenge by killing key characters and innocent NPC's only to spare the main target at the very last second? It felt like we wasted our time and we were left with dread and disappointment. It doesn't make sense for the main character to just walk away from their objective at the last second despite the fact said character gave up the pursuit sometime earlier in the story.

    There are some characters in the game that do not supplement character development or show qualities that make us feel sympathetic towards them. Take for instance Jesse and Manny who are only there to provide some drama to the narrative without providing memorable personal traits.

    The flashbacks were also poorly executed. Those flashbacks should have been the first playable parts of the game and then switch over to the main plot. It would have made the game's ending even more impressionable instead of making us feel like all our efforts were basically for nothing. I honestly think Naughty Dog should have created two campaign modes for the game, one focused completely from Ellie's perspective and another on Abby's story. Upon completion of Ellie's story we will have the option to complete Abby's campaign instead of having us switch between these characters.

    Overall, I don't think this game is worth $59+ and I am disappointed with it. I think Naughty Dog should remake this game or at least learn their mistakes by the time they release Last of Us III.    … Expand

    Yep, graphic and setting of world is good 8/10. But the game is gaddy. They have been droved everything in a narrative part. Naughty Dog wanted to show the story from different angles, but got a very chaotic and unrealistic scenario, that has little to do with realistic behavior.

Однако после сливов и первой волны говна от анти-сжв стало интересно как можно засрать любимую франшизу или наоборот сделать лучше. В итоге получилось ни одно, ни второе. Про очевидные плюсы писать не буду.
    Сюжет является самой спорной частью игры. Спойлеров не будет. Заранее скажу, он НЕ является нелогичной хренью с непонятной мотивацией персонажей, логическими ошибками и плевком в первую часть, но и выдающимся его назвать сложно.
    Если The last of us была, с сюжетной точки зрения, прямолинейной понятной большинству игрой, то в сиквеле всё намного сложнее. Вырывая игрока из зоны комфорта и погружая в ультра-насилие, автор хочет донести мысль о том как на самом деле работает мир пандемии, где нет ни героев, ни злодеев. Это не является жестокостью ради жестокости. В дальнейшем это развивается в идею "Не важно насколько низко ты пал. Будучи человеком, ты всё ещё можешь, осознавая свои грехи, стань лучше в этом сумасшедшем мире". Самым главным для меня минусом оказалось, что сюжет НЕ фокусируется на одном герое. Ты не проживаешь эту серо-моральную историю вместе с персонажами, а, в большинстве случаев, наблюдаешь со стороны. В фильме, где несколько сторон конфликта, это работает хорошо, в игре, где очень важна эмоциональная связь протагониста и игрока, это приводит к диссонансу и вызывает спектр противоречивых эмоций. Была ли это изначальная задумка? Скорее всего - да. Оправдан ли этот риск? Пусть Дракман решает. Возможно не стоило такую непростую историю выпускать на широченную аудиторию.
    Кратос говорил "всегда занижай ожидания и никогда не будешь разочарован", Аршавин говорил "ваши ожидания - ваши проблемы" и это чистая правда. Я эти цитаты принял на вооружение, большинство - нет. Поэтому у народа бомбануло и теперь они на каждом ресурсе какуют на игру, обвиняя в несоответствии со своими фантазиями. Хотя после сливов другого ожидать не стоило.
    Итог: 8из10
    The last of us part 2 в большей степени мне понравилась, не смотря на то, что лично я её не хотел и не просил. Особенно доставили отсылка на "Принцесса Моноке" и социальный комментарий про трайбализм. Игра никогда не войдёт в мой топ, но и мне от этого не обидно. Мир.    … Expand

My rating is for the work put in by devs, the narrative was sawft. why the main characters behaved so out of their personalities with regard to the first game is beyond me.

Whiny manchildren are upset when the story didn't go their way, the story definitely tried to alot with the character developments, while it's hard to watch, it is in no way bad, just one that is emotionally gut wrenching and maybe could be improve if the second character was more developed. It was never going to be better than the first game, it would've been impossible.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this game, man, I really did. The first Last of Us was one of my favorite games of all time. I went into this optimistic that the haters would be proven wrong and this would be one of the best games of 2020, and for the first few hours, it was! The game looked great, we got some great bonding between Joel and Ellie, and the gameplay was interesting and fun. But then Joel got killed off. I'm not upset that Joel got killed off, he did some horrible things, but killing him off within the first two hours of the sequel to a game which got me completely invested in him emotionally is just not the right way to do it. They should've introduced the character that kills him off first, given us her backstory, and THEN killed Joel off. Instead, they did it in reverse. You end up playing as the killer for about 7 hours, and most of it feels like filler. The constant flashbacks during this arc ruin the pacing and make for a confusing and needlessly long arc with little to no big reveals save 1 or 2 that I won't spoil. Then we get to the ending where Ellie and the new character's arcs converge. Ellie fights with the new character, gets her fingers bit off, but ends up letting her go, even after she killed Joel and some other characters dear to Ellie. This makes absolutely no sense considering the remainder of Ellie's arc after Joel's death is focused around killing innocent people because Joel's death made Ellie lose her sanity so she just starts killing everyone around her. And then she lets the person who made her lose her sanity go? I'm sorry, but regardless of the message you're trying to tell, that's just bad writing. The worst part about this is that there are some good parts in here, it's not all bad. The plot just comes across as a misery simulator (as some people have been saying) with absolutely no payoff, leading to an unsatisfying ending with the antagonist getting what they wanted with absolutely nothing for Ellie in return. The game ends with Ellie at home, alone and depressed because she has no one left. There's so much more I could talk about, but the story is just a mess. Avoid this game. 4/10… Expand

    The game has non-innovative gameplay from the previous game. The story after around the first half of the game gets boring. There are too many useless and non-interesting characters. The enemy AI in the game is stupid and make the game look clunky. The strongest part of the first game (the strong characters and story) are gone. It has nice graphics and awesome attention to detail.

Otherwise the controls are absolutely horrible, and the whole game is stuck in a track with no freedom whatsoever. You're just watching someone read a book. And the book is horrible.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It breaks my heart to write this but their is so much wrong with this game. 1. Repetitive gameplay - it’s just the same as the first, and it just ties in with the next point.

    2. The game drags on way too long - the gameplay is just fine, but the game is many hours too long and it feels like unnecessary padding, which really tests your patience.

    3. Makes experienced survivalists act dumb - Joel and Tommy have vast experience, know all the dangers, and even know Joel could be wanted because of what he did in TLOU1. Yet they give their names, relation, where they live, invite them over for tea and cupcakes, all to complete strangers who are all armed and outnumber them, in a closed off space.

    4. Joel is a beloved character and deserved better - Much like say Geralt, or Master Chief, or Lara Croft etc. They would deserve a good send off right? Yet the absolute butchering of Joel is a disservice of what he was to fans. He literally gets spat on by a **** lookalike after being golf clubbed to death until he’s mush. If you treat any beloved character this way, it’s a huge FU to any fan.

    5. They make you play as Joel’s killer for half or more of the game - Abby just isn’t likeable to me, her first moments are being saved by Joel, to then brutally annihilating him with a golf club in front of his surrogate daughter Ellie. Then later you play as her and they try and make you feel for her, implying she’s empathetic and so on. Yet she goes on this huge journey to find Joel, with the game trying to tell you she’s empathetic and nice. Yet when she reaches Joel, he saves her, but she wasn’t understanding there. And then she does what she does to him in front of Ellie despite not emphasising with why Joel did what he did, or how it will make Ellie feel. Therefore invalidating everything the game tried to tell us about nice she is, and why we should like her. You can’t say she’s nice and empathetic and then have her destroy someone with a golf club while making that person’s daughter watch. She was gonna kill pregnant Dina too, but Lev stopped her. Even if she was likeable, I don’t wanna play as the killer of a beloved character, and for half or more of the game at that.

    6. The plot is unoriginal and boring - Revenge plots have been done so many times, and done better. It’s not hard to realise violence leads to more violence. It’s you kill me, I kill you, the game. No more on Ellie’s immunity, zombies, or anything interesting.

    7. The ending - Ellie kills lots of people to reach Abby, who has killed Joel, Jesse and some others, but let’s her live. She found Abby tied up, so she cuts her down and let’s her walk to a boat, simply to attempt to kill her then. Why not just do it when she was tied up? Ridiculous. Then there’s the flashback of Joel that makes her spare Abby. Which had no words or sage advice, simply an image of Joel playing a guitar. To me, I’d think that would reignite Ellie’s anger and make her follow through with killing Abby, but no. Then she goes back to her home to find Dina gone and is alone. She lost Dina and the baby, Joel, her friends, her revenge, and her fingers. Tommy is injured and I think has lost his wife.

    8. What are zombies? - There’s barely any in the game. Clickers seem a joke, as Abby can handle 3 at once. And human characters can whistle and make noise no problem.

    9. Abby’s sex scene - it’s just tasteless and dry. Funnily it’s praised and allowed, but anime girls in bikinis, and other less risqué scenes are criticised and censored. This one is more just a hit at Sony than it is about the game itself.    … Expand

The story and characters are awful. Joel is killed after 2 hrs of gameplay. Most of the fans can live if it's done in a respectful way. But noooo, they let him be slaughtered by some character named Abby in the most disrespectful way and then they want us to play 70% of the games as her ? People care about Joel and Ellie. Nobody cares about Abby. NOBODY ! One of the strongest points of the first game was the storytelling and the relationship between Joel and Ellie. We cared about them. And after 7 years of waiting they give us this ? Shame on you, Naughty Dog...… Expand

    The overall story was amazing, I didnt read any spoilers so did not know what to expect. But it really didnt disappoint and I was very satisfied how it ended. Though it did drag abit, I honestly thought the game was about to end 50% of the way through.    This game is a masterpiece. Playing on the PS5 the graphics and gameplay are top notch, a marked improvement over the previous game.

    The new enemy type SCARS were a challenge every time you encountered them in a good way. Enemy would actively spread out and try to flank you. You need to be really strategic to take down a group of them, or be very good at nailing your headshots.

    I think the infected are probably the worst bit of this game. Clickers can seem to get alerted to your presence even if you are stationary which I found frustrating at times. An they introduced a few boss infected along the journey too, which were basically just bullet sponges that you just throw everything you have at them then run away. Repeat until boss dead.

    In summary, better game play & graphics than the 1st game. I think the story is better overall in part 2, but the story was told better in part 1.    … Expand

And you probably missed it because the well was already poisoned and you were trying to make it fit into one of those unoriginal revenge stories. It's unoriginal, yet people are mad cause it didn't end the way "it should have." Give me a break. Don't want to spoil this game anymore than it already has been, but definitely worth a play. Gameplay is very similar to the first - linear. But there are some more open areas. The first game's story is also better, but this game does something no other game has done, and young gamers didn't know how to feel about it. Just play it!… Expand

    The story is not for everybody but it clicked for me after a while. Graphics, sound and gameplay is top notch. For me the ending was a bit disappointing i wished for a bit more conclusion where the characters ended up.

    But it is not really transmitting that emotion or anguish to me that the first one. Despite the fact that I am watching gameplays in both games: The first if I even liked what happened and the end if I And the end if it made me cry
    This is exciting because of how they paint the game but it does not transmit more nor does it make you have empathy

Played the whole play-through, 25 hours and the whole time I just wanted to forget about this and go back to LOU1 which is my favorite game of all time. Because of the first game, the story is everything to me. Yes, the graphics are awesome, the scenery is beautiful, the voice acting & acting is perfect. BUT, a huge BUT,I'm really saddened about the story Naughty Dog decided to go with.     plot the entire game on revenge after revenge and in the end force our character to do exactly what most players dont want.Plus there is so many plotholes through it all,and most character's are like "Hey it's me this is my story"(and one in particular just exists to justify a pregnency, then dies like a **** dog) and then we never see them again.

    One thing, that i did like story-wise was the relationship of Ellie and Dina. It felt natural and believable.I enjoyed that.But it all falls apart on this mess of a story

    Gameplay is awesome, but the story ruins it all.(After all it's a narrative story) Also, Sony false advertised JOEL in the trailers. JOEL appeared on many parts of the trailers pointing that there would be an adventure with the duo, but they fking replaced it with Jessee.Also the flashbacks of TLOU were altered to comply with this story.

    A mess of a game. How low did naughty dog fell.

    Worse that this **** game is the "critics". How dare they all give 100's on this mess?
    I wouldn't accept the rumor that sony pays for reviews, but in this case...it's more than evident.

    Just finished it (yes yes it's april 2021 but I had no PS4, and buyed PS5 only now) And I think this is the best game ever. TLOU2 is brilliant in every single moment and part. Gameplay balance is great - stealth parts, story telling parts and shooting is mixed perfectly. Visual part is great - this is the my favorite "realism" + breathtaking art desing. Story is a real dramatic masterpieceJust finished it (yes yes it's april 2021 but I had no PS4, and buyed PS5 only now) And I think this is the best game ever. TLOU2 is brilliant in every single moment and part. Gameplay balance is great - stealth parts, story telling parts and shooting is mixed perfectly. Visual part is great - this is the my favorite "realism" + breathtaking art desing. Story is a real dramatic masterpiece + this is example of detailing depth that is really impressive and no game comes to my mind that can be compared to TLOU2 story. I can recommend to try this game to everyone who can forget about bias that came from negative reviews based on the opinion that the game is supposedly about the agenda. If they wanted to deconstruct the story and/or genre there were plenty of better ways to do it. But what did you expect ?     Why this game has a high score i don't know. It's not that great it's ok at best the story sucks. The game is so boring and just slow. People are not like this in real life. People learn and grow not in this game that wants to be real. Don't buy this game save your money. it didn't turn out in my opinion

If someone wants story about super heroes then there is a lot of such content already written. If someone prefers to see how real life can look in a post apocalyptic world, then he or she should play this game. Emotions that this game creates will last for long after the game is finished. This is the story about love, about attachment, about hate about (lack of) forgiveness but especially about revenge, No one is a winner in this game (even a player). This is a masterpiece, I love it and I support creators for such innovative approach. Keep up the good work!… Expand

    This was just simply awful from start to end. I couldn't stand the terrible writing and the betrayal of the characters' story arch through the writer's heavy-handed agenda-driven ideology behind every line being shoved down my throat as a player.

    A story game with a terrible story..the writing here is just..it's like the PC babies from South Park wrote it. I'm all for a little social justice in the game, like mass effect..but when you build a post apocalyptic game around social justice..it just comes out silly/petty and ruins immersion..

    Props for the lgbtq representation. Graphics and game play are great. But this story is throw-away garbage. Super pretentious thinking we needed to be taught that revenge is a fool's errand. And Ellie ended up a terrible, toxic, selfish person after being so loveable in the first game. It's heartbreaking to see what happened to a character. It didn't have to be this way.

    The ending ruins the whole game. The gameplay is amazing. The story is really good, but the last 5 minutes of the game ruin the whole story. In short it is the Game of Thrones of video games but with an even worst ending.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
