If sony wants to show true lgbt support they should change their saudie arabie twitter account to a pride logo but they are to scared.     Terrible game. This game technically speaking is amazing, but it has no soul, it lacks everything a game should aspire to be. The game is truly horrific speaking on the context of character development, a true failure for gaming. This will be remembered as an orchestrated story of radical leftist writers pushing postmodernism. Truly abysmal, biggest AAA game sequel disappointment for anTerrible game.     The gameplay is good, but not as awesome as it was promised. The environment and surroundings are marvelous, though it becomes repetitive quite often. You vague too much through the map, it takes long time to have a bit of action. Although there are some intense moments, most of the game is boring.

The message and reason of the game is totally lost and messed up. How can you deliver a message od forgiveness when all characters kill without hesitation other people? Scars do not hesitate, Fireflies kill without even asking. As soon as anyone see you, you are shot or stabed. Then it becomes stupid to try to show you the point of view od someone else in order to emphatize. It is an apocaliptic world, you will do whatever you have to in order to survive and save your beloved ones.

    Another thing that concerns me is to see the quantity of people and how easy they move to another place to visit someone or go to a base. It makes you believe that there is almost no danger regarding to infected ones. Human beings are the ones to be afraid of.

    I can say without doubt that this game is awfully written, not tested to verify errors, and showed things that did not accomplish.    … Expand

Likeable charakters are killed off one by one, then get replaced by new ones which are pretty much all horribly written and have no background story. It's the worst revenge-plot out of any game I've ever seen.

    I've worked in games for almost 20 years and these guys should be ashamed. If you have a political or social message. The proper mechanic is to let the player make moral choices and preset ramifications if you want to make a point..     This game has problems in pretty much every aspect of it. The gameplay has not evolved in any significant way since the first game, having additions that are pointless and/or are ripped off from other ND games. In regards to this, the only welcome addition is the hability to "go prone" and being able to use guns when doing so, which creates interesting gameplay situations. The graphics are really good but that was obviously going to be the case since this a triple A title made a developer with plenty of resources, and yet I cannot give any credit for this aspect of the game because of the rather scarce but still present glitches that take you out of the immersion of the game just as fast as the scenery is able to pull you in, which is unacceptable in a game that spent more than 6 years in development and was delayed several times. Audio is also annoying at times, because the audio of characters gets cut off if you position youself in a slightly different way and step away from them. And the pacing also has severe problems, because there are plenty of sections where you have nothing to do, and you're just going from point A to point B, making the game extremely boring at times, which makes you just want to close the game. Others where you have to kill infected that all have their backs turned in your direction with some of them patrolling the area in obvious routes, making the stealth aspect a joke. If you want to have fun you have to go in guns blazing and even then it's more infuriating that anything else because of the lack of control provided by a controller. And except for these two scenarios you can out of a sudden have parts where the pacing of the game cranks up to 11, when you are either chasing someone or having to defend yourself from atackers. However, this being a Playstation title, in which both gameplay and graphics are rarely the focus (because of inherent hardware limitations), the game should have excelled with the story and characters, just like the first game did, and just like with the first game this could have easily not only saved the game, but turn it into an extremely more pleasurable experience, to be remembered for years and years to come. The problem is that these two aspects are the *worst* of the game. The characters from the first game behave nothing like they used to and those kinds of "out of character" situations are actively and fundamentally used to push the narrative forward, making the whole premise of the story utterly ridiculous and detached from the game's "reality". None of the characters have any kind of growth which makes for a pointless experience with predicatble occurrences at times. One of the best parts of the first game was precisely this, going along in the adventure, feeling yourself change, but watching the characters (especially but not only Joel and Ellie) changing as well alongside the player. This is a petty little revenge story (that could have been written by pretty much anyone), with a nihilistic and depressing tone that contrasts wildly with the first game, almost destroying any kind of positive message that it carried. My issue with this game is not that it is a grim experience, or the events that transpired, but the *way* it is portrayed and *how* everything happens. The grim nature of it raises *no* philosophical questions that make you think and that inspire dialogue (much unlike the fisrt game!!). The only thing it succeeds to portray is an overwhelming sense of meaninglessness making you feel empty and never truly fulfilled. The order by which the portions of the game happen feels out of place, with certain things happening way earlier, and others happening so late that you are no longer attached to what's happening, making for a boring experience. The first game is still today my favourite game of all time and now ND, in sevens years has completely butchered the love that I had for this IP. Never again will I go anywhere near a The Last of Us game, except of course for THE Last of Us.… Expand

Naughty Dog is comprised of sadistic human beings that hold no moral values. In the first game we are tasked with ensuring the safety and survival of a young 14 year old MINOR girl. We play as both Ellie and Joel, who meets Ellie after losing his daughter who was roughly the same age. The original game is designed to make you feel like you are a PARENT to Ellie and the story and script truly make you care for these characters. As we watch Joel and Ellie struggle to survive the world and eachother the story brings the two characters closer together until they become inseperable. Flash forward to the sequel which was released 7 years after the original. Ellie is now 19 and despises Joel for saving her life. Regardless of how much they have gone through together and how strong their relationship was at one point they now seem distant. Near the beginning of the sequel we find out that our daughter that we worked so hard to raise and keep safe in the first game is now a lesbian. Which I have absolutely no problem with and I'm happy for her. What I do have a problem with is having to watch a lewd intimate scene that involves a young girl whom WAS 14 YEARS OLD THE LAST TIME WE SAW HER. Shortly after they decide to kill Joel in the story whom was one of the most respected video game characters ever created. They then decide to rub it in your face by having Ellie go to his house directly after which is filled with memories of their time together. After this the game and story become very linear and shallow. The issue is that all of this happens at the beginning of the game and really leaves no where for the story to go, no room for characters to grow etc. It feels like way more of a grind than an adventure very unlike the first game. All I really have to say is that Joel was a good man and a hero. He did not deserve to go out like that. Naughty Dog didn't just kill Joel though, they killed the entire franchise.     Avoided leaks. Loved the first game. Went in unbiased. Quit two hours in. Came back and had to quit again, too many plot holes, bad writing. Who is the target audience for this game? It certainly wasn't the majority of people like me who enjoyed the first go 7 years ago. I won't be trading this to gamestop, this is going in the trash.

I cant compare the death of Joel to the death of Lee(walking dead) becuse Lee had a good death and everybody was sad but they understood it.     im so disappointed, the game is not as good as what i expected. in addition to the bad story and the cringe dialog the game have bugs. one of the things that annoyed me that you can easily miss an area that you can discover because you thought that you may be able to get back to it (because it was implied in the dialog).

    Horrible game horrible. I really liked the first one. But not so much for the game play. It's one of those games where you really liked the characters and the story. So in the second one they messed up the characters, made the story trash, and kept the same sub par gameplay. I just thought the game was ok at best

    Enjoyed the mediocre gameplay as much as you can, but the story is just terrible and irrevelant. The new characters just are not interesting, nor they work on them and instead try to get sympathy by cheap methods (pregnancy, being cute), but they are still just generic npcs with almost not known backstory. Then you also have all the incoherences and nonsense.

    Outdated gameplay, mediocre at best. The story is just so inconsistent, illogical, and badly told--POOR. Regretting playing this game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The excitement I had for this game was off the charts. I remember the original Last of us and it soon became my favorite game of all time. From the music to the character development of Joel and Ellie. To just the atmosphere of the game. Everything about it was truly a masterpiece. That's what makes The last of us 2 such a let down of a game. From the trailers that were released it made it seem as though Joel would have a pretty large role throughout the game which we come to find out is a complete and utter lie. The way he was killed off within the first hour or so in the game makes it feels as though they didn't care at all about what made the first game so special. It isn't the fact he died because life isn't certain in a post apocalyptic story. It's the way in which he died. Joel a man so skeptical that it took Ellie almost being raped and murdered before he started to open up that guy willingly goes with Abby and tells not only her but the rest of her people his name and his brothers name. Which doesn't even make logical sense if you know his character from the first game. He is then murdered by Abby after you've had to play as her which is also a slap in the face to alot of fans. But it gets worst. You then go on this revenge trip with Dina to try and find the people who murdered Joel only to let the killer go at the end because of some moral thing after you spent the entire game killing countless people to find her. The only reason I can think as to why the characters were done this way is to push some sort of Anti man SJW agenda. Which is sad to say but it's the only explanation as to why they destroy most of the male characters in the game. Another aspect is the heavy LGBT stuff throughout the game which I don't care about but it's definitely very noticeable. It's just sad that this game was more of a political statement instead of a proper part 2 to the greatness that was The Last Of Us. For the people saying doesn't listen to the haters please stop. You can't tell people how they should feel about a game they spent 7 years waiting for completely trashed the fans. It's perfectly exceptable to feel upset especially for them trying to force a political agenda on to customers. It isn't fair to try and silence someone's opinion just because you don't. agree. Also to Naughty Dog and Neil Drunkmann you should feel utterly ashamed of yourself for this game I'm truly disappointed as a fan and I will personally never purchase another one of your games ever again in my life.     The way Joel was killed was just lame, trash and fast made. I can understand the way you guys wanted to tell the story about Abby, Her dad and Joel with the Fireflys but it could have been done very differently. The way we merge into Abby her story on how her 3 days went in Seattle shouldnt have happend mid way of the game and that when we meet Ellie as Abbie in the theater we should have had the control back of Ellie and not Abbie. Also making it seem like Tommy also was dead after he was shot shouldnt also have happend. You guys really wanted ''if you could do it'' kill of every character in the game from Joel and Ellie their side to make Abbie seem like the new main hero of the game. After finding out where Abbie and Lev are told by Tommy and later finding and fighting Abbie Ellie shouldve killed her instead of letting her go. She deserved to be killed and be dead after all the things she had done. And then the lamest of all. After returning without killing Abbie Dina also left without saying a word. The house was empty and everything was gone except Ellie her room. Where was a note from Dina telling where she went with the baby?! We were just left with Ellie playing the guitar missing her two fingers not being able to play the notes. Dina and the baby missing and their house being empty. The ending was just absolute trash. I get the message of having revenge is not always the answer but to leave Ellie with nothing behind is just pure pepega. You guys already slaughtered her and her side the whole **** game but to give her an ending with literally nothing and also not even the things and people she loves is just pure trash. We waited 7 years for this?! Remake the game like we wanted. Not like this absolute garbage.    … Expand

Yes, I understand that Joel had to have consequences for the action he did for the first game by saving Ellie but what type of consequence is killing him in the first 2 hours by the most pathetic way to die as if they hurried to kill the most liked character in the game.     Me and my friend just beat the game and it's just bad the game play and graphics as great but this game is marketed and sold purely on is narrative witch sucks it's nothing more then a badly done revenge story. It's amazing the first God of War trilogy did the revenge story so well while The last of us 2 does it so poorly considering there both Sony games.

    Abby was a completely **** character that had zero personality and no appeal. Joel was killed off and received zero screen time unless it was a flashback. ND wrote the story of this game like it was their first one they ever did. They **** SUCK.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to enjoy this game given I was a huge fan of the first one however, after 7 years it seems naughtydog has lost their touch.

    While Joel’s death was necessary it wasn’t what anyone who played part 1 would consider reasonable however I am willing to accept that as it’s a great driving force for Ellie and Tommy.

    My issues come when you are first forced to switch to play as Abby, a character who we instantly hate and actively root against. Her backstory while tragic isn’t close to enough to make up for what she’s done as I find it hard to feel pity for someone who’s dad was killed while cutting open a child’s head without telling the child (Ellie) or her by then surrogate father Joel who brought her across the country. So when she finds him dead I don’t feel much pity.

    I found myself rushing through abbys sections as I just wasn’t invested in her and found the children she helped to be a ham-fisted attempt to give her some depth as it was so out of character that it completely threw me off.

    I found that most sections became highly repetitive outside of the flashbacks, it seemed like a copy paste and re-skin most levels.

    Finally to the ending, to see Ellie not only cut Abby down but also nearly kill her only to change her mind because of an image of Joel she sees as she drowns Abby was highly unfulfilling, there was no real reason Ellie would’ve stopped it’s not like Joel would’ve stopped if it was Ellie who’d been killed and Ellie showed no signs of having mercy until that last 5 minute section.

    Overall I found the gameplay to be alright but not improved enough on the first game to be worth the 7 year wait, the story made little sense and seemed most contrived and the level design seemed lazy after a couple hours gameplay as it was just more of the same and ended with so many unfulfilled opportunities and a cliffhanger which suggests Ellie either goes to Jackson and live a good life with Dina or the more likely she is now a depressed loner wandering the wasteland.

    This is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own I hope you guys enjoyed the game!    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
