    Beautifully tragic. An emotion grappling story about morally ambiguous survivors, doing what they believe needs to be done to overcome grief, trauma and loss. Plenty of darkness with glimmers of hope and light. This sequel stayed painfully true to it’s characters and most importantly, the world created in the first game.

    A garbage game for a garbage console, I fiddled into it for exactly six hours, when I had to play as a woman-man, I turned off the game and permanently deleted it from my account, graphics of 2012, 15 fps in scenes with more than 3 enemies, plot the retarded, mentally ill Dryckmana, in general, this game should be in the trash, like the console itself.

    The last of us is the apex of virtual story telling. It consinuoisly makes you uncomfortable with decisions you have to take and you become ambivalent about your own feelings. It is like a very good tv show but then better because it is more immersive and characters are so well made.     I am sure that many simply did not understand this game. I really liked The Last of Us 2. Largely because of the plot. He's definitely not bad. The game has a lot of unique mechanics, there is a unique physics of shooting, a unique presentation of the plot.

I wanted to experience more of these characters. Now that I got that wish, I wish I hadn't.

    The characters just don't feel right, the gameplay doesn't feel as satisfying as the first, the story did not need to be told, in fact, I struggle to see what story they were even trying to tell. Obviously it's a tale about revenge, but there are so many questionable and down right dumb or boring events that happened that it made me scoff at my screen a few times saying REALLY?

    The graphics are the only thing that truly felt "Naughy Dog Quality." It truly is the most beautiful looking game I've ever played, but that just doesn't carry it. It drags on waaaaaay past it's welcome in terms on length as well with me just wanting it to end after 15 hours or so.

    All in all, I hope they never end up making a third game. I can't believe I feel that way after how obsessed I was with the first. There just isn't much they could do to make me care about this franchise after this one.

    Maybe I'm being harsh because of how much I loved the first game, but I'm being honest. The taste has been soured for me.    … Expand

    absolutely brilliant game. perfect. exciting. sometimes fear and sometimes tears. absolutely worth your time taking a break from the real world for hours. an outstanding and wonderfully conducted history, phenomenal in every way. For me, the top 5 of everything I've played in my life.

    The most woke and overated game of all time. Never trust critics. They are all partisan hacks. Too cringy to finish. Incredibly implausible and assinine plot. Only decent thing about this "game" is its visuals.

    Just finished playing it. What an intelligent and intriguing ending... What a feat of writing such complex and authentic characters and what a staging. I've never experienced anything like that. And what a great idea to convey both sides of the story so intensely and to create this fascinating dichotomy in me. An absolute masterpiece for me.

    While I feel the Abby story was forced upon you, it added the depth needed to truly appreciate the overall story and the cycle of violence. Excellent story, excellent graphics.

    Great job from the developers, the game looks great, is well polished. The gameplay is improved but it doesn't feel that intense as the last one, where it felt more like a survival (you cared for every shill and bullet you find.
    Usually this makes a game at least 6 but for me it can't even be a 5.
    It was hard to fail with the story because so many interesting things was already prepared from the first part, but somehow they didn't care for that and they preferred to force new characters. Characters that never had enough story to care about and Aby, who had a lot of story, had a very bad written one.
    If her killing Joel at the start was moved close to the end I think it made some things better.
    If the marketing didn't try so much to hide what they already knew people would hate, maybe it would be better revived but I'm sure the game would've sell a lot less.
    The game is very focused on the story so even if it's okay on the other parts the story brings it down.
    Some people may like it, but a lot of people would watch anything and be okay with it. A small number care for real quality.
    It's nothing bad with that. Sometimes you just like something that it's not "wow", smart or mind blowing.
    This game somehow managed to divide people so much and I think this is because of the arrogance that Naughty Dog shows when it comes to this game. They always tell people how good the game is, that they should try it first then ask questions. If a game is good, you don't need "the cook" to tell you how and why the "food is a delicious masterpiece".
    I can make my own opinion, I don't need you to tell me how to fell about your game.
    Joel.
    Is killed without any dialog between him and Aby (his killer). His relationship with Ellie didn't evolve as much and it felt like after all of that he still wasn't able to open up more, to be more friendly (like he was with Sarah).
    His small number of past memories with Ellie shown during the game don't feel as important as if he was still alive.
    If he died after we saw him forming a deeper connection with Ellie, some more bounding, then I would care more and it would make me care more when I see him being killed.
    Ellie.
    She is different, more bitter, more like every other NPC in the game. She is not interested in jokes. Now she wants to get high and make sex. All good and everything but she didn't have any objective until she wanted revenge. She wants revenge and fails but then leaves all she had left behind just to try again?
    What about the virus and stuff like that? I guess she doesn't care about that anymore. She's just a stubborn and stupid little girl that doesn't evolve in any way during the game. She was even more interesting and competent in the first game.
    In the end she clearly doesn't want revenge anymore, it clearly doesn't matter. If she didn't do anything it was objective complete because Aby would've died a slow and painful death. She instead goes to all the trouble to help her, to force her to fight and after she lost some fingers and had even more reasons to take revenge, in just a few seconds she says no.
    That's it. The ending has nothing. I don't care if she survives. She left her last friends/lover for revenge, she doesn't try to find if a cure is possible anymore.
    In the first game's ending I was interested: what will they do, they will remain friends, will she still want to be killed to make a vaccine if she has the chance and knows the truth, is there no more cities unaffected by the virus, will Joel try to be more open with Ellie...
    I had so many questions when part 1 ended but now in part II I don't care, I have nobody to care for, there's no objective, no questions, no future.

    Some people hate her way to much. It's just a very bad written character. She is close to impossible to like.
    They show her torturing Joel until she kills him. She doesn't talk with him, ask him why, ask him if he's sorry, tell him what she thinks about what happened.
    After that I should care for Aby? She tortured slowly someone, without asking or telling why/who/what/when/what now.
    Then she plays with a dog and does a few good things and that somehow makes me forget about how much she insisted on torturing somebody? Kill Joel, but at least Joel did it because they didn't want to let Ellie leave. Ellie was never asked if she was ready to die, she would've never know that it was the end.
    Part II didn't try to build on what Part I did. Make you care for new people, understand what will happen and why, understand what the characters want. They just take out one important character at the start (the main one) then they try to force the others.
    Just showing some good interactions doesn't make good character development.
    How many will buy Part III knowing the story now? Knowing that Naughty Dog doesn't want to make fun games, they want to force a story where we're forced what to think or care about.    … Expand

    This game doesn't deserve to be GAME OF THE YEAR. An over saturation of LGBTQ agendas and strong independent women. And almost all men in this game are nobody. I went through this sh*t with difficulty, but if there was an opportunity to return the money for this product, I would return it.

    All i can say is that this game is a masterpiece and changed the way i look at games now. The game is just dripping with atmosphere one of the most atmospheric game i have ever played purely outstanding. The combat is so fun, satisfying and intense and it has the best stealth combat i have seen in a video game and the atmosphere makes it that way. Aaaand the wolrd...is just too beautiful...with tons and tons, and i mean it, of details is just amazing. I really think that this game is a masterpiece and is so sad that some people rated this with a 0...this game just don't deserve this...ok i get it you dont like the story but how the hell you rate 0/10 a game whith a quality like this really now..Recommend this game at any time 10/10!… Expand

    да когда я поняла что мне нужно играть 15 часов за эбби было принято решение поставить единицу, но сейчас спустя 6 месяцев, непрерывных раздумий, стало очевидно, что это достойное продолжение (эбби конечно можно было и меньше сделать....... например раза в три) и сравниваяя с к*берп*нком это реальный шедеврда когда я поняла что мне нужно играть 15 часов за эбби было принято решение поставить единицу, но сейчас спустя 6 месяцев, непрерывных раздумий, стало очевидно, что это достойное продолжение (эбби конечно можно было и меньше сделать....... например раза в три) и сравниваяя с к*берп*нком это реальный шедевр

For me this game was my favourite game but than you must play with abby. I hated abby but the levels were good.I missed ellie when I played as abby.Ellie is a perfect character and but they give her just 12 hours gameplay that is dum. All in alll i like the gameplay and playing as ellie was fantastic. I still hate abby but that is just my opinion the story telling was very good.… Expand

    Aside from a rich story, this game contains the best graphics on the PlayStation 4, I've played this on the PlayStation 5 and the game is just fantastic. It has won a lot of awards and Game of The Year from multiple critics. Rightly so, this is a masterpiece.

    Do not look into the negative reviews, only you to judge for this game, give it a chance, complete it from start to finish and pay close attention to every detail.    … Expand

A 10/10 is for the quality and closeness to perfection. Intense realistic gameplay accompanied with one of the best if not the best graphics and animations i have ever seen in a game, story can be.....debatable but its dark and depressing for the most part along with a pacing that doesn't suit everyone but for the people whom it suits (like me) it makes this game feel as good as the first part (if not better).… Expand

    Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog are the bravest creators I've seen in the last couple of decades. They were the people who used to create commercial AAA projects to sell to sony fans. And they used all their credit collected through the years and all of their resources to create a masterpiece, to show their fans what is the real art of game design, script writing and visual style.

    I can understand that for somebody it may be a masterpiece and others not, but there is no such thing as this game has 5.7 by users, a game that deserves a rating between 9.5 and 10.
    Maybe, MAYBE, the only "negative point" is longevity, for somebody the story may seem a bit elongated, but not for everyone.

Sure in the beginning I hated it too as she killed Joel. Then you play as her for almost half the game and towards the end I cared so much for the Abby that I prayed Ellie didn't kill Abby. For a game to make me like the villain and sympathize with her was great and a different thing naughty dog did. Yes Joel dying sucked and I was heartbroken about it and then you can see why Abby did it as she loved her dad and wanted retribution and overall she was a good person. This game was special because you played as the main guy and the villain and for me I wanted them both to survive which created moral dilemmas which was very difficult but in a good way. The game for is a masterpiece.… Expand

    Superb in every way. The story was as gripping and emotive as the first. The gameplay was superior. Anyone giving this game less than 6 obviously isn't being sincere. The gameplay and graphics are worth 6/10 even if you don't like the story or characters.

    The game was beautiful, sometimes scary, had a rich story, fun mechanics and unbelievable graphics, and it gave me depression. You know, If you're gonna have us spend 30 hours playing a game, at least pump some joy into it, perhaps make a happy ending... Don't make people feel bad about keeping the characters alive, but hey, that's just me.

    I just finished "The Last of Us Part II", right after I finished the original "The Last of Us". I have never played on consoles before, and I bought the new PS5 with the express purpose of playing these 2 games (which are PS exclusives). I had two factors playing against the games: (a) I have zero ability playing with controllers, especially in shooting games and (b) I hate horror, survival horror included. Both factors mean I should be doubly challenged in playing both games, let alone play them to completion. And still, for me both of them but more specifically "The Last of Us Part II" was an absolute masterpiece. I am still reeling from the effects of the experience. I understand why people might be upset with it. We are creatures that need to identify the us vs them, and when that line gets mixed up, we don't like it. And this game had so many mix-ups, on so many levels, it frustrated people who prefer a clean cut security on their feelings and attachments. I felt it as so human, so deep, and so full of interloped, layered messages and meanings, at the end I was left crying for *all* characters (and I never cry with games). Games like TLoU2 are truly rare accomplishments on any medium, not just videogaming. If I had to buy PS5 and not be allowed to play any other games on it other than TLoU & TLoU2, it would still be a bargain.    … Expand

    A stunning game that is a masterpiece in suspense, thought provoking characters and visuals. The game mechanics are vastly improved from the original game and the immersion is intense. It follows a different path to the first game which is perfect, reflecting how the real world may work in such a desperate setting.

It was only after I had finished playing through it and understood the true meanings and messages. This is a perfect sequel to the first title, but it will only seem so if you think of the events in TLOU2 as genuine and realistic outcomes following the events of the first game. What you really have to understand is that the world of TLOU isn’t solely based around Joel and Ellie. At the end of the day, everyone is trying to survive. Joel chose to put humanity at risk for the sake of saving Ellie, and, thus, is forced to face consequences in this game.… Expand

Ellie makes her decisions with a blinded view, but unlike you’d expect from most mainstream entertainment media, she does make it cool to be wrong, she is just keeps make mistake after another and that made me feel static or stagnant. Apart from that, the gameplays feel really good, haven’t found but only one bug in the hole game. Graphics look incredible. Sounds and scenery are believable. The only down side is that you spend a big amount of time playing as Abby and only at the end of the game you are able to understand why that was made like that, but during the gameplay it can get boring.… Expand

Therefore, the game challenges your emotions and feeling as a player, because what makes something bad in your sense, may be good for someone else, and to understand that, TLOU will put you in the shoes of both ends, and in both scenarios you have nothing to do but face the world and expect the unexpected. This game is thus all about frustration, but unlike a dark souls or doom frustration due to a difficult boss that you can eventually beat, TLOU frustrates you because of how little you can do in this world, because of how small you are compared to everything else, to how little control you have over the main character's way of thinking, because yes, the character will think in a survival way and would not listen to you as a player sitting on a comfy couch behind a 4k screen, as I said, what makes sense to them might not make sense to you, and this caused a lot of people to hate on the game because the characters didn't make similar decisions as the player. This game is a story that vehicles hard emotions and strong opinions, it's a game that you just need to sit down and let it guide you into the uncharted territories of the post-apocalyptic world of the last of us part2, and some plot twist might seem complete non sense at first, it eventually makes sense, if you keep an open mind on the story, and not hate characters just because they did things that hurt you personally, because everyone in TLOU has a name and a story. This is the best game that Naughty spent THE LAST seven years working on. Even though many people hated Abby killing Joel, this is what created the plot to the game and even though I did not agree with Ellie's actions it will still be the greatest game by Naughty Dog. To those people that review-bombed this negatively, go get a life because Naughty Dog worked so hard these last seven years to create this game. Many you are upset and confused for playing as Abby for the second part of the game, the death of Joel, and the lengths that Ellie's goes to get her revenge.
