Making the fans play with a vilain that killed the character that people bought the game in the first place to see (using fake clips in the trailers to f**k with fans) all of this in attempt to see things from her perspective. Just so we can realize that she is indeed a **** person a cheat a psychopath who tortured the man for no reason. if she new why he had to kill her father. Shooting him in the head would've been enough and believable.. And on top of that making the segments played with her more thrilling and fan to play just so we like her. Honestly throughout the whole game I couldn't understand why the writer made a game it's whole point is to make ppl like a piece of **** psychopath. And what I found even more astonishing stupid people who actually did.

    Graphics, music and technology is fine, but disappointing story. Please don't use politics and social justice in video games. The last of us 1 was a masterpiece, but this game makes you forget the whole saga.

You all could have made the ending where Ellie and Dina would be back together again and that would make the game so much more positive feedback. But the overall story is pretty decent for the hours and design you guys make into the game. Just make sure to add better endings instead of making it disappointing.     Excellent visuals, gameplay is good, nothing changed much from part 1. False advertisement in trailers (games are not movies people, please). The most important part of the last of us, which is the story, is very poor this time. Empty characters, their decisions make no sense. Plot holes everywhere.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm very sad to write this review, but this was probably the biggest disappointment in my entire gaming life (beside Watch Dogs). I want to say something very clear: the animations and the settings are absolutely fantastic, it looks like a movie. I've never seen something like this and I really loved it. The huge and terrible problem is the story and don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with LGBT or things like these (I'm a LGBT supporter). The first 10 hours are actually good, but then there is an awful twist of events that completely broke the atmosphere and took me out of the game: you literally start playing as someone else. Not only, but as the woman that killed Joel and was the biggest enemy in the first half. It's ridiculous. I couldn't empathize with her, I couldn't care less about her issues or her friends and I couldn't play without thinking "what the hell is this? When is it coming to an end?". If I have an experience like this while watching a movie or playing a game, it's over. At least for me, I couldn't force myself to enjoy it. It's terrible. The whole second half is basically a useless filler that has no purpose except forcing you to like a character and a situation. It's boring, it's repetitive (you get into trouble constantly just to get to 25 hours of longevity) and it's completely out of context. Then, when you get to the ending there is another slap in your face (that's also absolutely predicable actually. After killing dozens (including dogs and a pregnant woman), Ellie just chooses to spare Abby's life because "revenge is wrong". You read it right. The game is based on a revenge story, but Neil Druckmann pulls the Uno Reverse Card to feed you trivial rhetoric after 25 hours of waiting. I'm sorry but to me this is unacceptable. This game really has a fantastic gameplay and superb graphics and animations, but that's it. It's a shame.… Expand

    Decent gameplay mechanics, but the story sucked so much that i was really disinterested for long parts of the game hoping it would somehow improve, which i doesn't. Really disappointed that i gave the game a shot despite the negative reviews.

    I gave it a 3 simply for the graphics and some different gameplay that I liked compared to the original. What kills this game is the story. If you have never played the first one, maybe you will like it. If you have, you will most likely hate it.     I have played this game and I was so disappointed, I played the first one too and I can say that the gameplay was indeed improved from the first one; but the writers just basically shat all over TLOU story by you know what happened on it, so it's the worst videogame ever and doesn't deserve a GOTY at all.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 drags Ellie and Joel through the dirt. It spends its opening killing off Joel like he is nothing in exchange for revenge story fuel with the revenge story that follows making Ellie into an irrational hateable killer. I'm fine with naughty dog turning her into the bad guy but her character development is such a mess and is way too big of a leap as she irrationally and brutally kills around hundred without any sympathy and even namecalling as they die and all this is meant to be fueled by a broken relationship with a man who she knows is this irredeemable monster. besides all this, ellies side of the story isn't particularly interesting as she simply jumps from location to location looking for someone to lead her to Abby. The second half of the game following Abby was a lot more enjoyable as we see her perspective and shows how she is dealing with the guilt of killing Joel as she searches for redemption by helping Lev and Yara. It did get a little sloppy near the end when she killed some of her wolf friends which felt a bit unjustifiably evil even if it was in self-defense but overall Abby's story was pretty good. It all leads to an ending that feels pretty underwhelming and pointless with Abby and Ellie just parting ways which wouldn't be as bad as it was if Ellie didn't literally kill 100 people to get to Abby.

    In terms of gameplay, the combat is pretty great. It's brutal and tense as you play naughty dog perfected cat and mouse gameplay with the enemy, however, there is only really a few hours of combat with most of the game consisting of story and a terrible looting and exploration system which consists of just going into rooms and mashing triangle.

    Besides gameplay and story, the game looks and sounds great with beautifully detailed environments and great music to match.

    Lastly, the companions in this game are pretty uninteresting, Manny and Jesse practically do nothing and die, Diana is too similar to Ellie and is basically a yes man to her horrific actions. The only good ones are Lev and Yara who provide an interesting and engaging story on abbys side.    … Expand

    Playing half the game as Abby, the person hunting Joel/Ellie, makes absolutely zero sense. We all paid $60 to play as Joel/Ellie and find a conclusion to their epic journey. I couldn’t have been more disappointed when we kept playing more and more and more with Abby. A terrible plot, horribly story, and overall giant disappointment. I give the first game a 9/10. Pinkie promise I’m not jumping on the bandwagon to be one of those people hating on the game even though they didn’t play it. I preordered this game December of last year, and I had the highest hopes for it. I loved the first game, with a deep, immovable passion, and like many others, I waited with hope for the sequel for seven long years. I had every faith in Naughty dog, that this would be the best game of the year. Through all the delays, and the controversy, my faith never wavered I didn’t look at the leaks, so I went into the game without any bias. And at first, I loved it. Joel’s death was shocking and horrible, but not unexpected. I cried about it, sure. But I thought there had to be a reason why they axed off one of the most beloved characters in any game ever. I loved playing as Ellie and running around Seattle with Dina. The little open world segment was fun, and the puzzles, while not overly complex or satisfying to solve, were at least different and had a little variety, improving on the first game. And the graphics, oh my god, They are brilliant. The combat was fun, very similar to the first game, You can go in guns blazing, or stick with stealth and try and slip on by I was really loving the game at this point, having fun, and looking to avenge Joel. But at the midpoint of the game, for some terrible reason, I’m forced to play Abby, the girl that murdered Joel. They kick you back to day one, as Abby. I have no idea what Naughty dog was thinking. I hated Abby for the most obvious reasons in the world. But I had to play as her for ten hours. Made even worse by her having no actual goals, and already knowing what is going to happen. They force you to play flashbacks within flashbacks to try and make you like her, but it was an impossible task. Abby’s section was boring and pointless, considering the women you spend half of Abby’s time trying to save just dies anyway. The only fun part was going in for bear hugs with clickers, running into fires, and leaping off cliffs. Even worse, the game forces you to beat the piss out of Ellie just to progress. I nearly set the controller down and walked away forever. I did not care about Abby. The game could never make me care for her, after seeing her kill Joel horribly and brutally. Please be aware that naughty dog lied in the marketing repeatedly, which was just a slimy, nasty thing to do to it’s consumers. But aside from the lies they told to sell copies, the game really talked down to the player. “Revenge is bad, murder is bad, how dare you kill that dog?” I enjoyed the first half, but it very quickly became a pretentious, depressing slog of a game that does not warrant more than one play through. It thinks it’s far more clever and deep than it is. So that’s my opinion on the game. It looked beautiful. The combat was fun at first, but quickly became repetitive. And the story was complete and utter trash. I really wish it had not been this way. the game looks absolutely amazing.… Expand

This game had so much potential, the VA are amazing, the world was already good and most old characters are likeable, and wow... the music is amazing, but the story is a let down, a story about a revenge path and in the last second you forgive then wants to kill the person and then forgive again... is honestly bad writing, mostly because of the ending than the actually start point and middle point and playing as the antagonist is a amazing idea, but she is not likeable enough for that, only the kid saves her side of the story. Looking to the other side of the coin, one old character twists himself in a way that doesn't look natural, it looks so sudden how he is protective in the end and then later on wants Ellie to have revenge as well. Tommy and Ellie lacks what would make them more realistic in the end, a sudden change with almost no explanation, going to "I forgive you" to "I don't forgive you" too many times.… Expand

    Characters are trash and unlikeable over all. Joe would never reveal him name to strangers get that what’s happened in part two and that’s what got him killed and the games tries to make Ellie the antagonist and tries to make Abby the protagonist and it shows, ran into game breaking bugs that have been here since launch that never got fixed

It does have good graphics though so I guess that’s a redeeming part of the cutscene with some gameplay sprinkled in whatever you want to call this medium. It’s certainly no game that’s for sure. Yet I feel like I’ve been slapped in the face, they brutalized Joel, (a beloved character) by this hulk psychopath (female?) character, who they then force you to control all the while trying to develop this connection, when in fact you just hate it everything about “Abby” screams die in a fire yet, they make you keep on truckin’. Then the SJW crap my god.... it’s sooooo woke. WAKE up people, it’s set approximately 30 years after the zombie apocalypse, 13 year old kids ( who by the way grows up in an antiquated tribe like environment), will not have the “decadent luxury” of deciding they’re going to choose their gender... they’ll be a little preoccupied with, you know not dying... oh and they also won’t have the fantastic media we have today to push narratives on troubled or mentally ill youth. All that being said the gameplay and most of the other factors of the actual VIDEO GAME work great, play it on mute and for gods sake skip the cutscenes. Shame first game way almost completely story driven this one just makes me angry.… Expand
