    Two aspects of this game are worth noting:
    1- Technical: It is obvious that the developers did a lot of work under the hood to create incredible visuals, audio and controls. I can't find fault with the technical aspect of this game.
    2- Story, and this is where the audience goes for this series, is absolutely atrocious. I've never seen such a blatant middle finger given to customers, and    Two aspects of this game are worth noting:

    Naughty Dog took a risk in creating a game that did not follow the generic post apocalyptic game. Everyone expected a happy ending or a game with the same basis of the first with their theme. Instead, Naughty Dog gave us a realistic game where not everything can go the way you want. Love was the theme for the first and hate was the theme for the second. Boy did we feel hate. The gameNaughty Dog took a risk in creating a game that did not follow the generic post apocalyptic game. Everyone expected a happy ending or a game with the same basis of the first with their theme. Instead, Naughty Dog gave us a realistic game where not everything can go the way you want. Love was the theme for the first and hate was the theme for the second. Boy did we feel hate. The game caused us to feel emotion whether it was uncomfortable or not. If the 2nd game was modeled after the 1st exactly, there would still be mixed reviews for not being unique. Un gameplay completamente disfrutable que a pesar de que no cambia mucho el sneaking del juego pasado sí abre nuevas posibilidades en la narrativa misma. Characterization was nowhere to be found. they abandoned the linearity that was so essential to making the first game a success in exchange for a nightmarish timeline that has zero pattern or consistency. I cannot imagine why they concluded this was necessary. ItCould have been 10/10, but the pacing was a nightmare. Tried to hard to be profound and ended up being very cliche and robotic. I'm glad I got that satisfaction of Ellie learning the truth, but apart from that, story wise I ultimately was left feeling pretty much nothing. Sad that it took them all this time and they **** up something that shouldn't have been that hard to do well. The worst part is I feel like they will always think they are right and gamers' criticisms are illegitimate. This mentality is part of the problem leading to this dismal game. Oh well. I will not be running to buy the next Naughty Dog game on opening day, that's for sure.… Expand

    Well I played it and I was the biggest fan of this Franchise. I really was. I even wanted to know how to play guitar to play that song in the first trailer. But this game broke everything. The gameplay is really good but that don’t matter if the story is bad. Anyways I won’t ever buy a game of naughty dog and I want my 70 bucks back. Please don’t buy it if you still don’t know.

    Gameplay and controls weren’t much more innovative from the first game and in some cases the first game has better things going for it like for example the dodge mechanic is very abusable bringing down the strategic value the first game had. This game still feels fun to play but the same can be said for games over a decade old so I don’t think that’s a big achievement. Various bugs that ruin the immersion which is basically the only thing this game has got going for it really. The graphics are good, it’s not super advanced graphics from older games on the system but more of a super polish and detail that makes the graphics stand out so much and give great immersions to it. The world is still super linear which is a bummer and a huge miss on ND’s part. The setup was there to search these outposts for information in an any order in an open world type of way which would have boosted the immersion of the this games world and just world exploration in general but instead the game keeps to being linear for story reason I guess? The story is pointless at best and a hot mess at worst. A personal revenge story is that last thing a fan would want for this game especially the way from the way it’s gone about the way it did. I believe what fans wanted to see the most was how the arguable bad decision Joel made at the end of the first game impacted the world in a plot that took a grander scale than what was shown in the game fans got and how the characters would try to fix this dangerous bloodthirsty world without a cure. As for the story we got I won’t go to into my points too in depth but on a rundown I can say most of the side characters were boring and had too much screen time, the main characters were out of character or were just also too boring to get attached to. The small talk when roaming is stupid. It’s like it’s trying to be uncharted but in that game it makes sense or even in the first TLOU it makes due to the way the characters aren’t absolutely at some of their worst times in their life it made sense for them for through out some casual words here and there. This game tries to be all brooding but then you get some causal dialogue from those brooding characters and it’s like a complete disconnect form the actual story. At last but not least the pacing and direction is all over the place. This could have easily been fixed if the game was like the first two hours all throughout the whole game where you hop back and forth between characters within reasonable time. Two problems fixed with one solution. I would rate this game lower if I took the marketing into consideration with the model swapping lie, the lighting changes and I think graphical changes(not sure about the graphics), and more realistic gameplay and enemy AI lies but there could have been limitation reasons for the latter two points(but not the deceiving model swapping) so I’ll subside my feelings to that. Over all this game is boring, dragged on, and had much lost potential. 3/10… Expand

    I loved the Last of us with all my heart. Part 2 methodically stomped on that love until I just couldn't bring myself to continue playing. I gave up about half an hour before the end and just watched what remained of it on YouTube - just to be done with it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. They totally lost the plot with this game, a severe disappointment. You spend more time playing as Abby (the enemy) than playing as Ellie. Seems they had no story ideas so they had you play the story from to sides. They might have thought that was clever but nobody cares about Abby & the Scars. It was supposed to at least be Eliie's adventure, but they failed on that. The story (if you can find one) is full of plot holes & useless cutscenes. The fact that they spent years writing this steaming pile is just mind boggling. The ending is lame & I'd be surprised if they make a followup to this as they screwed the story up so badly that there is hardly any way to rectify it.… Expand

While I can understand what they were trying to accomplish in terms of trying to get different perspectives across, they wound up making Ellie a very unlikeable character bu the end of the story. They also didn’t make any of the new characters stand out enough to be enjoyed. Even if they’d given us more time with them, because of the way they were introduced to us I already had a disdain for them. Had they brought the story to us differently, and let us get to know them and their motivations better before the terrible act, then maybe I’d have been more open to empathize with them. Because the story tends to make you want to walk away from it for awhile at points, I can’t justify the roughly 25 hour run time. The game is held up by fun, solid gameplay, and the voice acting, despite the writing doing it’s best to want to make you think about things, it results in unlikeable, or dull characters that I don’t care to spend another 25 hours with. All in all it’s a solid game, but not one I care to play through again.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay and design is stellar, with some of the most detailed mechanics and concepts I have seen for a game. There are so many small but extremely detailed systems running in this game that will blow you away once you realize they are there. However, the actual core mechanics of combat, exploration, and resource management do not remain fun for the entire course of the game and start going stale by the end.

    The game has some serious pacing issues, by the 2/3rds mark or so you are going to be pretty bored and sick of the game. The gameplay does not stay fresh and the story fails to keep you interested due to poor layout.

    I strongly disagree with all of the people that are jumping to one extreme or the other over this game. Everyone seems to want to call it a 10 or a 0. When it hardly deserves either of those scores. Issues with characters derive not from them being out of character, but the game not showing the time and actions that drove characters to think or act the way they do, alienating the player. The way characters act IS logical, but it is not conveyed correctly to the player.

    The game also does a terrible job making you CARE about characters that it wants you to. It takes too long to build on some, and stops bothering to build up others. Characters you are just starting to care about will suddenly be dropped from the story for 10+ hours, show back up at the end and suddenly you are supposed to still care about them in all of this. Meanwhile, people you have barely seen at all will suddenly be in a position or situation you are MEANT to empathize with when at best you MIGHT be able to sympathize.

    To conclude, the story was a GREAT idea with terrible execution that alienates people in a series that relied heavily on its story, and the gameplay grows too stale to keep people entertained over this long and overplayed plot. Also, the devs lied about several things certain people had concerns over like dog killing. Which doesn't matter to me, but the fact that they lied to the people really pisses me off.    … Expand

    The last of us 2, a game that is like cheap wine but will never age well. Many waited 7 years for the same game mechanics and terrible story. Naughty Dog take a page from Horizion zero dawn. And start over!

    I played the original. Brilliant game, pretty bad combat. This new installation improved on the combat, but left the story and pacing of the original behind. Extremely disappointing

    First off, I can't understand why so many Critics gave The Last of Us: Part II a 100 Rating... Nothing about the game could be improved, noting at all? its just so perfect? I find that hard to believe. Same goes with all of the 0 ratings from the User Reviews. Nothing could be worse?

    Graphics 10/10
    I think it was absolutely great, there was several times where I stopped just to take in the scenery. Its not often I find myself to just stop and enjoy something visual in a game.

    Mechanics 8/10
    I enjoyed being able to upgrade your weapons, traits, and then crafting useful tools to assist you with the enemies. Breaking glass to get into a room that is locked. Crawling on the ground to get to different places even to hide sometimes. What i didn't like was, every encounter was like TAP SQUARE to get out of a situation. About 1/3 into the game I found my self hitting square before it was even promoted to do so. I wished it was switched up with other buttons or actions. The AI, I feel could have been a bit better.

    Story 6/10
    So much to say.

    I never seen any of the leaks, and still haven't, but I had a feeling the story would revolve around Ellie getting revenge for the death of Joel. The reveal trailer had Joel coming from a white light type background and then when it was confirmed by Neil Druckmann that Ellie was the "only playable character." So it didn't surprise me that Joel was killed. The way Joel is murdered, it felt like Ellie deserves to get revenge. All though she had been resenting to Joel for two years before. That is when she learns what really happened at the end of the first game.

    The slap to the face came after knowing what has happened your forced to play as Abby, the one that kills Joel. At that point I wanted to stop playing because I simply did not care about her story or her background. After a while I did understand why she wanted killed Joel, but not enough for me to care or overlook it. I found dying as Abby to be satisfying, especially when as Abby you have to fight Ellie. The first several "attempts" I walked out in the open just to let Ellie kill Abby.
    From a story telling perspective your player base shouldn't want to die playing as one of the main characters. It was such a disconnect for me from the game. I think it would have been better to tell most of the story (other than the ending) in a different order, such as building Abby's character before she kills Joel.

    The ending was mostly a waste in my opinion. After Abby lets Ellie live for a second time only because a supporting character that you save as Abby is there. She goes off to live on the farm with Dina (which you find out is pregnant early on in your search for Abby) and her baby. At least ten months have passed since the last encounter with Abby, and it seems like Ellie has moved on. Or at least one would think until Tommy shows up with information on Abby's whereabouts. Ellie then decides again that she must get revenge for Joel at the cost of her and Dina's relationship. Ellie saves Abby from torture and possibly death so she could fight Abby one on one. During the fight Abby bites off two of Ellie's fingers at which point Ellie goes to drown Abby to ultimately let her go free, out of nowhere. in ten plus hours of playing as Ellie there is no hint that Ellie would let Abby live. It comes out of the blue, out of left field. In the end Ellie's quest for revenge left her with nothing. Dina and he child is gone, not to mention one of her friends killed at the end of her quest to find Abby. As well a missing two fingers hindering her abilities to play the guitar (that Joel gave her) and leaves it behind in the empty house. I guess its supposed to be her finally moving on and having closure.

    I sorta get that Ellie is supposed to "end the cycle of revenge." However who is not to say the hundreds if not thousands of people that Ellie kills on her way to get to Abby, that their loved ones wouldn't want to seek out Ellie and kill her. That is quite literally what happened to Joel.

    I feel like the whole game rely on you believing what Joel does at the end of the first game was horribly wrong. So that you can get past Joel's death and accept Abby's actions. It make me think that Naughty Dog wants to expand the Last of Us series beyond Ellie and Joel to tell other stories. However the game was marketed heavily on Ellie and Joel and kept Abby a secret, I think just to sell the game.

    This is a story driven game and I believe it falls to deliver what they was trying to accomplish. For me that is half the score. The game is just okay, nothing to write home about.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't pay attention to what most people are saying. The Last of us Part 2, is far from a bad game, much less a game with 3/4 notes.

    I understand people's indignation about this game, but that's no reason to say the game is bad, because it's not. People confuse quality with personal taste and that's a big mistake.

    In general, the thing that most revolted the fans was 3 aspects: The death of Joel; The character "Abby" and the fact that we have to play with it, and the end of the game. All of them understandable, but not justifiable from so much hate. The purpose of a game is to have fun with it, right? Generally speaking, yes, because what's the point of me doing something that doesn't bring me any benefit? But this game is different. This game brings a narrative that no other game has ever brought, it's a cold and depressing story, where it shows us that "Revenge is a game for fools".

    Joel's death is something very shocking, yes, capable of being one of the saddest moments in the history of games, but we have to take into consideration that it's not the protagonism that will save a character's skin. If we didn't want Joel to die? Of course we would. But the last of us already has a whole narrative prepared and we can't change that unfortunately.

    About the character Abby, many said they had no empathy with her during the whole game, even after they knew it was Joel who killed her father. And that's completely normal, and I realise it can be frustrating to play with her, but the game doesn't make you like the character. You don't have to just agree to understand. You can say that the fact that her father was one of the surgeons who operated on Ellie is cliché and a weak point in the game script. I completely disagree, "Abby" is important to show the 2 sides of the coin, 2 different points of view, 2 different lives. Abby is not the villain of the game and never will be, as well as Ellie, only each one has their motivations and their reasons to practice such acts during the game.

    Finally the final, which I personally didn't think was brilliant or perfect either, but it's not bad either. The ending shows us that nothing Ellie did was worth it, Dina left her, she's now alone, far from home and completely aimless in life. She lost 2 fingers, which makes her lose Joel's only legacy which was playing guitar and also makes her not be able to draw anymore (something she was very good at and liked to do). It's a tragic and very sad ending but it gives us a moral lesson that is, never too much to say that we love a person, sometimes a simple hug would make all the difference. Instead we prefer to keep our feelings to ourselves and be proud. The fact that Ellie didn't kill Abby was because she wouldn't be happy about it, Abby's death wouldn't fill that void and stop her from having that trauma, which is done, is done. At least Ellie saw a little hope in Abby with Lev in the end, which she couldn't have with Joel, unfortunately, and that she didn't want to take from Abby.

    In conclusion, I'm not saying this game is perfect in terms of history because it's not. The first game is still a thousand times superior. What's really perfect about this game is the gameplay itself and the innovations they've given since the first game. And just for that, the game already deserved more than 3 or 4 marks.    … Expand

    Very poor effort by Sony and Naughty Dog. You had one thing to do: make the sequel just like the first game, but you failed completely. Where are the good characters and story? None in this game.

    Gameplay is the same thing also, I got totally bored around half of the game.

    The game has 10/10 graphics and almost close to that in gameplay and environment. But the story is appalling, their execution and pacing is just straight-up bad.
    The choices they made in what happened and when it happened, is just something that deserves a 0/10. But the gameplay and the rest is good, but the game is not worth playing in my opinion.

I do believe this game is wrongly reviewed a 5.0. The score has been going up quick due to people actually playing this game for themselves. None of the leaks or opinions of the negative reviews made sense to me while playing. I never once seen any problems with political pushes, LGBTQ+ representation, and I also haven't seen a problem with religion. BUT the only reason I do not give this a 10/10 is due to some part of the story. I won't spoil anything in this review Because I've had it spoiled for me and it effected the fun I had slightly. Some parts of the story just seem out of order sometimes. Nothing that really bothers me or effects the game or story, but it just had some weird choices on certain events and when they happen. But overall this game is an amazing experience everyone should try before reviewing. If your someone who is debating on this game, I would say if you played and enjoyed the first game, play this one. Like seriously this game is hugely underrated. You'll kick yourself in the ass for agreeing with review bombers. And most people are forgetting. There's is a multiplayer coming out in the future.     Technically not a bad game. That's the best I can say about it: awful story, repetitive game play that only improves a little bit what we saw in the original The Last Of Us, which by the way was as boring as part II, in my opinion. It took me 30 endless hours to beat, I wish it had taken me 10-12 hours, it would be a better game for sure.

    The only redeeming quality from this game is the environments are truly beautiful. The flash back scene of Ellie and Joel in the dinosaur museum was great. Unfortunately we dont see many great scene like that to play through. Definitely not worth full price... or even half price currently.

    Graphics are a 10, just like God of War, It's one of the most visually spectacular games out there, also details for days, those 60-70 hour workweek crunches really shows.
    Gameplay is a 8, It's more of the same, but since it's painstakingly detailed, You can really feel every hit.
    Story is a 2 for me though, I'm not gonna spoil anything. It's only my personal opinion.

The narrative is plenty easy to follow, it's not riddled with plotholes, and it's both incredibly thought provoking and moving. If you're complaining that the flashbacks are too much to keep up with, maybe stick to third grade reading level media. Everybody wanted a happy go lucky fan service filler episode, but that's not what this series does, and nothing we've seen before should make us think that. The characters deal with the consequences of their actions. The parallels between our two main characters are impressively executed, and I love the story they told. The ending undoubtedly left me feeling sad, but that's because it's a sad story. They succeeded in telling the story they set out to tell. This doesn't mean that I don't wish there was more of the game to play, even after 25 hours.… Expand

Donde para incluirlo y darle un origen con sentido tengan que incluso cambiar la pigmentación del cirujano que aparece en el primer juego rompiendo la continuidad para darle un minimo de coherencia y engañar a aquellos que no recuerdan esos detalles.     Now to be fair the much talked about pacing issues with the game are accurate... confusion can arise from jumping to and from flashbacks, and the game drags in a few areas. The gameplay also hasnt quite evolved over the original to the degree in which i had hoped. Not insignificant quibbles but also not significant enough to detract from my overall experience. Its tough to hold those things against the developer when the rest of the game exhibits such an embarrassingly high level artistry in graphics, animation, sound design and especially the borderline oscar worthy voice acting. This game reeks of love.

    I suspect that TLOU2 is a game that will be talked about for a long time and I’d bet that many people that are currently critical of it will someday warm to it. It may not be the best story ever told in this medium, but imo it is by far the most courageous. Kudos Naughty Dog.    … Expand

This part of the game could have been a DLC in my opinion. The ending wasn't that great, I think if there was an option to choose either to kill Abby or let her life would improve the ending 10 times more, I think the only thing that this game is missing on is the value and the attachment to the story and characters of the game, An idea would be if Tommy was killed in front of Joel and Ellie, so Ellie had to track Joel down and help him to his destiny but then choose if Abby would die and take care of the kid or let Abby live and let the kid remember this moment. WE would also like more if we could have seen more of whats Ellies life is all about, The flashbacks were you played as Ellie with Tommy and Joel were so good that if the game had a lot of those and combine together to one story it would have been the greatest story game of 2020.
    It isn't easy to make a game and I hate ppl hating on it bc of example pewdiepie didn't like it (Famous Youtuber), This game has a lot of good reviews, but it's overlooked by all the hate from Youtube that some famous Youtubers had made for this game, This game is one of the best-built game in mechanics, graphics, looks, solving puzzles, and well-made games out there, but the story is the part where it really hits this game bad.

I was very upset when Abby killed Joel, it felt bad and even worse because I was controlling the killer. I hated Abby from the beginning, but as the story continued, I came to understand the motives for Abby, and man, she grew on my, what an amazing character, the ability to see the two sides for the story was something I really didn't expect, and when it all tied up in the theater confrontation, at that point, I realized I was playing a real masterpiece. The people that hate the game because Joel died, I mean, I think I get it, but come on, real life sucks too, if you want a happy ending, maybe this game is not for you, this is a deep story about revenge and love, I couldn't expect less from ND. I love this game and I hope we can see more of Abby in the future.… Expand

It challenges you to empathize with someone you hate by putting you in their shoes. It is a challenge that could only be taken in interactive media. What Naughty Dog has done here is bold and challenging, which is why it has been so polarizing. But if you give it time, and just try to turn on that part in your smoothed over gamer brain that empathizes with people unlike yourself, it is extremely rewarding and thought provoking. A 10/10 simply because it pushes the medium of story telling in games forward.

    Masterpiece! The complexity, the visceral violence, the philosophical discussions, the mature and emotionally challenging themes. It's no wonder this game flew over so many people's heads. When creating something this intellectually stimulating, you're going to woosh a great number of people. I hope they eventually come to understand, but my hopes aren't high.

It is a shame that such a good game is ruined by spoilers as many people had already made up their mind before playing it themselves.     This game is one of the best games I've ever played. The story is very faithful to the spirit of the original and the characters are all very solid with believable motivations. The story, characters, graphics, and gameplay are all top-notch. I sincerely recommend this game to any gamer.

Le doy 9 por algunas cosas que pudieron pulir mejor para hacer el juego mas redondo en mi opinion, como por ejemplo hacer mas corto el gameplay con Abby que lo sentí algo pesado y que pudo durar unas 2 hrs menos sin problema. Pero bueno el juego ya adelantaba que era oscuro y que te sentirias miserable al jugarlo y efectivamente así fue, ya han pasado varios dias y aun me estoy recuperando. :)… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 has been a roller coaster of emotions and reviews for fans and gamers alike. Some people have praised the game, giving it a 10/10 while on the other hand, people have been giving it a 5/10 or lower. They say it is SJW propaganda and “go woke go broke.” Here is my official review of the game and what I thought of it. Off the bat, I will say it is an 8.6/10. Though that may be subject to change once I play the game again. I do believe that this is more about losing things/loss and some revenge too.
    Let’s address the elephant in the room here. The story. Tons and tons of people say that the story sucks. I have to disagree with that. While at some points in the story it can be a little sucky (as when you first play Abby or near the end when Tommy is just very very crazy). Or the pacing may suck. The switching of day 3 from Ellie to Abby was kinda hard. It would probably be better if it was day 1 then day 1. This game also has its high moments. One of these moments is when Ellie is visiting Joel’s grave. You can feel all of Ellies’ sadness swelling within her. You could tell she is just filled with sadness at that very moment. The painstakingly slow walking away from the grave and Dina being with you there doesn’t help. Or once you’re being shot at and you have so many places to run your heart is just beating fast once Ellie is running. Or when she’s hiding trying to heal herself once you’re “safe.” You have to take chances in spilt moments. Or lastly once Abby sees the “Rat King”. The fear that fills you is terrifying. Just hearing that thing on you as you try to kill it.
    The scenery and world-building is just fantastic. You get so engrossed by it. You sometimes feel like you’re in that moment. When you’re riding Shimmer with Dina going through downtown Seattle or grungy boat moments with Ellie getting ever so closer to Owen. The pouring rain and harshness fills you with regret and somewhat of fear? But the sunny and carefree time of horse riding lifts your spirits. So much detail just went into the world-building. The crunching of snow and rustle of tall grass once you go prone is so nice.
    The gameplay is definitely better than the first game. The dodge button makes you feel like you’re actually dodging in real life. Sometimes I would find myself dodging along with Ellie. The crafting system is definitely way better. It just fits more with this game. Working at the workbench and seeing all the guns and upgrades is very nice. Though there so have been more attacking at the workbenches. It feels great just to upgrade your guns. Having more supplements and skills trees was something that felt strange but so refreshing. Having to go out of your way to find the skill trees and supplements just felt so nice once you finally got it. Climbing up ropes was fun but it didn’t happen too often.
    Second, to last I want to talk about the characters. While they did make some likable characters like Jesse, Own, and Abby. They did make some characters dislikeable like Dina and Ellie at the beginning. They made Ellie way too edgy at the start. I just didn’t really like Dina to be honest. At the end, they messed up Tommy. I understand that Joel was his brother but they made him way too crazy at the end. The characters kinda improved as there was more but also in some ways didn’t improve.
    Lastly, the end. The ending is something that will grow on others (like me), be an instant hit, or just not like it at all. Let’s get this out of the way, the game is about loss and some of revenge. You start to realize that even if you kill all these people Ellie won’t get Joel back. She has PTSD and is “stuck” with it. She wants to get revenge but in the end, she lost fingers, Joel, and Dina. That flashback was to show Ellie that Joel is just Joel. Joel was just him at that moment. Ellie most likely could see Joel and her relationship on Abby and Lev. She knew that killing Abby wouldn’t solve anything. She would just keep the cycle of violence that happens so so much in The Last of Us universe. You may feel anger first at for not killing Abby but you may grow to like it. Abby also can’t get back her father or her friends back. And even her first love. But yet she has Lev and maybe they could rebuild something there. Ellie playing the guitar that Joel gave her represents her trying to move on. She doesn’t want to be stuck in the past. Ellie feels regret for killing Mel and beating Nora. Ellie hates herself for not forgiving Joel until it was too late. Letting Abby live shows that Ellie can forgive herself. Abby feels regret for killing Joel as well. She thought she could feel better by killing Joel. She hates what she did because she ripped away what Ellie had with Joel just like how Joel ripped away what Abby had with her father.
    My final thoughts are that this game is a masterpiece but there are some things that could change. (Rushed limit here)    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
