    What a mess this game was. I'm graciously giving it a 2/10 due to the fact that the graphics were pretty good and it had good sound design and music. However, it breaks my heart to say I'm absolutely disappointed with everything else in the game. There were so many inconsistencies with characters and their developments, and the game is littered with plot holes. The story was, simply put, aWhat a mess this game was. There was also tons of bugs (invisible walls, weird clipping, things not lining up properly, other invisible things like ladders), and it made the game almost unplayable at certain times. I don't recommend buying it. Just avoid it. Watch YouTubers/Twitch streamers play it. It's not worth buying. Don't give Naughty Dog any money for waiting for this poor excuse of a sequel for 7 years.… Expand

    I'll be brutally honest. This is a good game though not a great one(like the first). It has amazing level desing,good world building and an amazingly bleak atmosphere. The gameplay is like the first with few minor improvements. The main issue is is in the story. Three parts of the story in specific.     Love the game, love the story. Glad to see women who aren't overtly sexualized for the benefit of male gaze. The people brigading this with low scores are afraid that if all women are perfect subordinate objects their delusional power fantasies about that one girl who was nice to them at the library might never play out.

    This game truly is the game of this generation. Honestly, so many feelings and thoughts and experiences bound into one game. Naughty dog are true and proper story tells. They make you feel how the character feels in the good moments and definitely the deep and gritty moments of the game. 10/10

    The ending was awful and the zombies are now walking dead zombies instead of TLoU zombies. Id give it a higher rating for the graphics, but any game can have good graphics. A game with bad graphics could easily be a 10, but the game mechanics need to be there, which aren't with this game.

    It is too linear and overly scripted. Save yourself the trouble and money and watch it off YouTube if you want the story. But the story, my goodness the story is cringy at every moment...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing graphics with immense detail and lush environments with wonderful sound design to give a eerie feeling when playing the game. Apart from the good two factions of the game trying to kill you and each other the story lacks in comparison to the first game. They killed the main protagonists of the 1st game in the first 2 hours of the game for shock value, very cheap move. It undermines Joel’s arc and personality; Joel is paranoid and doesn’t trust people and knows every trap by a human in the first game. He knows when he is outnumbered and doesn’t go to places where he can be easily overrun unless absolutely necessary. In this game he wonder into a home with 10-20 stranger with his also equally paranoid brother - Tommy. He does save Abby from the infected and his only option is the cabin, he still should have been careful and paranoid of them.

    The whole point of the game is to have revenge for the killing of Joel by killing anyone associated with Abby and Abby. I’ve only played 11-12 hours of the game but I know the ending and leaks. The meaning and story revolves around vengeance it isn’t subtle and is badly done. The story is flawed by exaggerated moments and somehow pure luck of the character. The characters make stupid decisions that don’t make sense to a rational mind and overall most characters are bland. The story doesn’t hold gravity as it did with the Joel and Ellie/Father and Daughter bond. You play as Joel’s killer - Abby - for a large portion of the game and are meant to sympathise for her and her struggle and her past. This does not happen, you can’t sympathise with a person who killed your favourite character and are supposed to hate and play as her. We all knew Joel would die but it should have been better. Like a Heroic death or he gets bitten and doesn’t regret saving Ellie from the Fireflies. He could have gone out in a better way that a cheap shock value moment.

    At the end of the game, you find a weakened Abby and attack and try to killer until Ellie gets a flashback to Joel and stops trying to kill her to let her go. This undermines the plot of the story and the arc of vengeance when she has killed everyone associated with Abby and countless others. Neil and the other writers try to make a message that “Vengeance is bad and it’ll take away everything from you”. The message falls short and just doesn’t make the story any less good. They also have this sub-plot about a supposed trans scars member and that falls short and doesn’t hold any emotional impact to the player. Some of the trans community and LGBTQ+ have also tweeted and stated this games creates a bad cliche character that is for the sake of diversity.

    I could go on but I would exceed the character limit. The last of us two deserves either a 4-6 overall, I’ll put it as a 5 to be generous. The combat of the game is gritty and amazing to say the least. The story not so good, the story is not for the fans and it’s the writers ego (Neil) to think this storyline is bold when it’s just downright mediocre, horrid and flawed. The games visuals and animations are some of the best in the industry and really set the bar high for other single player games. However the story has suffered some stupid choses from the killing of characters in strange situation and one of the most craziest endings I have ever seen. Если игра способна вызвать такие бурные эмоции своими поворотам, значит, что все было сделано правильно.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yesterday was completely over - I didn't care about this Abby, I just wanted to kill her and that's all. But no, well, I guess I'll watch the flashbacks and get me back for a moment in the theater for Ellie, and there's a crash. Man, I didn't want to play for Abby so much that 5 jumped her off the roof. Ellie is also "well done" at the very end, she could just get a weapon and kill Abby with Leo, no, she is not so interested. Where's the logic here? And I would still like the player to be given a choice (kill/spare). There is still some illogical - in the theater, if there were no Leo, then Abby would most likely kill Ellie and Dina (which she almost did), here, again, there is no logic, she will, in fact, then become like Joel, depriving all humanity of even a hypothetical chance to heal.

    If you take the relationship between Abby and Leo, then it turns out that these are the same Ellie and Joel from the first part, only at the minimals. I think the author wanted to tie the player to Abby in such a way that the player changed his mind about killing her. No, it didn't work. I wanted to kill her anyway.

    According to sensations, the game raised the question of why. I didn't feel anything during the game, I knew about Joel before the game was released, so his death was not a surprise. I thought when I finished the game - eh, there is not enough for Abby some local John Marston, if you draw analogies with Rdr 2. There were no much-remembered characters (about Abby's friends - generally silent). Although no, it was interesting what was going on with Tommy.

    But technically, the game is done perfectly. My PlayStation 4 Slim gives out enough FPS, thanks to Naughty Dog for the excellent optimization. The game did not seem difficult (played at the middle level), only dogs and stalkers were nervous.

    Now, I think to pass the game for the sake of achievements, but I will miss the videos. Sorry for my English.    … Expand

They force us to play a trans/ really manly disgusting girl character, they let Joel be killed in the first 2 hours, in a way that‘s just disgusting. The political agendas forced into it really dragged you away from the story. I don't even think you can call THAT a story because of how garbage it is. Had high hopes when the first teaser was released and due to the place I live in not forcing these politically correct ideas down your throat, I welcomed the lesbian relationship of Ellie while being confused on why people didn't like it. But now this is just too much and it's just outright a circus of weirdos which stumbled into a "story."… Expand

Overall, this is not a game for the casual gamer, or I should say "Gamer". I really regret that I ignore the spoiler during April and let my friend bought this game as the birthday present for me.     The gameplay and graphics are very good, unfortunately that doesn't really matter because the story and the way the characters behave just doesn't make any sence and it pretty much ruins the overall experience. Saw the leaks, decided to buy the game anyway hoping it wouldn't be as bad as everyone said and ended up regretting wasting my money. Dissapointed but not surprised.

I want a little logic, even though the game developers do not value the abby character (we can understand this by not showing abby in the game trailers by not showing the abby character on the game covers) , how can we think that the players love to be connected to the abby character. Instead of separating the characters for 3 and 3 days in the game, we should have played the ellie character in almost the whole game, it is really disappointing on the player side. Even if the game is a legend with its gameplay dynamics and many features, it deserved to get negative points with its story.… Expand

This is a very high-quality game, which costs all the money, but it is not a masterpiece. As for me due to the approach to the plot, the game is too long. You can't enjoy the characters of the second half of the game, you don't want to follow them, because you already have your favorite characters in this game. Compared to Ellie, mirrored in some scenes, Abby, she's just boring, like the characters next to her. FOR ME, htey are not like an independent part of the conflict, but as specially prescribed for emotions and for bringing the game message and blah blah . Ally and Joel’s interaction is simple and charming, father and child, it works just on a subconscious level. Ally and her girlfriend are also good, but the rest of the characters (Owen, Mel ...), who have no less time on the screen are no so good. The game draws emotions out of you in the same way, so in the end, you don't care about the death of the characters. I don't think J death is a problem of the game, it just causes other emotions, not like the death of the characters of the first part, it has a different way , but the second half just can't make full way, to work to the end.     Honestly most dissapointing game of the generation for me. I saw the leaks but still wanted to go in open minded and enjoy the game for what it has to offer. While the gameplay is ok and the grafics are good everything about the story turned out to be even worse than exspected. First time being dissapointed with ND. I really don't get how all those reviewers brought this game up to a 95.

This game is actually an 8/10 for me but I'm afraid I have to give it a 10/10 to offset the butthurt fans who review bombed the game as soon as it came out, even though at that point it would've been impossible to have completed the entire game at that time.

    This game really works and goes in directions that most video games or movies will never do, and for that unique experience Naughty Dog has to be commended. The story is beautiful and harrowing and dark and not only lucidly conveys the theme of 'violence begets violence' and 'the vicious cycle of vengeance', but also what reality is like in this horrific post-apocalyptic world.

    A few hours into the game, Joel is brutally murdered and this is one of the main reasons people are hating this game, because the death was so shocking and displeasing...but that was the whole point. The palpable heartbreak we feel at watching Joel die reflects how Ellie's heart is broken too, and initially that allows us to justify her mission of vengeance. The argument that Joel 'deserved' a better death is extremely childish--in a bleak reality as this, death is commonplace, it is a terrible way to live. Joel dying in some predictable and rosy fashion (e.g. like Iron Man in Endgame) would have been far more disrespectful to the game. But also it's more than that. As the story progresses, Ellie's vengeance gets more brutal and more bloody and by the end of Day 3 in Seattle, we are left not in an agreeable position with her. However, the opposite occurs with Abby's three days in Seattle, as it's shown how she is a foil to Ellie and in many ways they are the same, and though initially it is jarring to play as the previously perceived 'antagonist' of the game, by the end of Abby's three days in Seattle, you end up seeing her more as a protagonist, whereas at the end of Ellie's three days, you see her more as the antagonist. Therefore, when you have to fight against Ellie, playing as Abby, when you return to present day, it works in the narrative.

    The story moments don't always hit, but Naughty Dog illustrate how violence will only ever lead to more violence and how vengeance will corrupt even the best of people (Ellie). The final fight on the beach, Abby doesn't want to fight anymore, as she has made peace with her vengeance, but she is coerced to fight as Ellie threatens Levi's life. Showing once again how Ellie has now become the antagonist and corrupted with hate. Abby is now the protagonist, a reversal you never expect when Abby kills Joel. When Ellie spares Abby is finally when the vicious cycle of vengeance that started with Joel killing Abby's father is finally broken.

    The narrative isn't as good as the first game, however, it is worth experiencing none the less. People should be more open to mature content, and instead of expecting Joel to have some predictable send off similar to Iron Man's death in Avengers Endgame, realise that being subjected to darker and bleaker emotions can be a richer experience.    … Expand

Had this since launch day, genuinely the way they handled Joel's death to the way they handled the complicated relationship between Ellie and Dina is genuinely amazing, i have found my new favorite game since last of us part 1. They stepped up the graphics, stepped up gameplay,stepped up the story telling,and genuinely made me cry around 6 times now. Terrible ending with no choice (this insane Ellie, which is driven by random flashbacks in her head). Zero meaning (casual - revenge is bad? seriously?), horribly story line, default trash gameplay, half of the game as Abby, which we don't give a **** about. Pointless and boring background characters. 0/10. The tech quality of the game is ok (graphics/animation - nice, but the same mega boring gameplay (WALKING, usual stealth and horrible fights), but it is overwhelmed by other things.

    It also seems like loads of people are hating on the game. If someone's review is 19th of June, then they obviously didn't play through the entire game or even close to it.I would like to state it does feel a bit weird at first to see Ellie so (understandably) angry and sad.. but the second half of the game tells a tale too.. one where you think about your actions in the first half with more weight. It's a very unique story and brave. I loved it.. but I think you need to be older than 18 to appreciate it.. which is probably where of these reviewers are going wrong.

    Furthermore, LGBTQ is represented in this game, however it feels natural and not slapped in your face repeatedly. No one should care that Ellie is gay (TLOU DLC showed this). If you do its surely your own fragile masculinity causing the issue here.

    Personally I think anyone with a discriminatory review should be banned and deleted.

    Either way, this game is a must play for the ps4.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely fantastic! Sure there are certain aspects to the narrative that people may find hard to swallow, such as Joel's Death. Which kinda makes me remember the feeling when Joel's daughter died in the original title.
    I honestly cannot see where all the hate is coming from for this game. Do yourself a favour and play this game, you will not be disappointed. The graphics and game play are amazing, the story line is fantastic. Just because I don't like one aspect of that story line, I'm not going to hate the whole story.
    Obviously a lot of review bombing has gone on here. My advise is just ignore that and play it.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
