Subverting expectations is a cheap and lazy way of storytelling. To kill off Joel so unceremoniously within the first 2 hours was a middle finger to fans of the original and with such a terrible, incoherent story all about pandering to a vocal minority, this will be the last naughty dog game I buy as long as Druckmann is in a position of power there.… Expand

    Bad character development, totally ignored how the characters where last game, literally biggest disappointment of 2020 and all my trips and festivals canceled so take that in consideration. It’s not worth buying or even watching on YouTube. Just keep the memory of the first one.

    Story - a true disrespect to the players of the game, makes everything the studio did meaningless and destroys the work everyone has done.

    Half the game you will be like "yeah it's sad but I don't care", characters will be sharing stories that you don't connect to and you will just want it to end to play as Ellie. They tried really hard to make people to like this random new character by shoving so many side stories but well nobody cares. Honestly I prayed that the leaks were fake.I said “there’s no way something this absurd sounding would make its way into one of the most anticipated video game releases of 2020” ,and yet the leaks were true blow for blow form Joel’s head being caved in to the disturbing sex scene. I am amazed that a studio like naughty dog could make such a god awful story .I think the original Jeff the killer creepy pasta had better writing and characters.if you plan on buying this game wait three months when this game is inevitably slammed into the pre owned bin at game stop for 5 bucks… Expand

    The worst game I have ever seen in my life, and I will not **** buy any more games from Naughty Dog.

    Hope all gamers will say No to this **** plot which ruins the first story. This kind of games have no help in real equal rights, it is only another kind of discrimination and unfairness.

    I'm rating this after just playing 2 hours, graphics and combat great. What a disaster of a story, shouldn't have done that. First game was great, they destroyed that story in this.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are many things this game made terrible wrong, and most of them just ignored character development of the first game and tried to create a new narrative that made all fans hate this game.

    1) The way Joel dies before solving all issue with Ellie is the start point of this campaign. The relationship between these 2 is broken because the Lie in the end of the first game. And the game ends without a satisfactory conclusion on that regard.

    2) The game introduces a new playable characters, Abbie, and tries hard to make us like her, but in the beginning she is the one that kills Joel in front of Ellie and many others dear to Ellie along the game, which makes her the object of vengeance that Ellie is hunting the entire game.

    3) After everything that she lost and every trouble to find Abbie, Ellie ends in a nonsense fight with her which ends up with Ellie letting her go because she remembered Joel... The guy that singled handled killed everyone just for her sake...

    And that is it, you play a long game with many unsatisfactory developments, only to end up unsatisfied to the very end.

    The graphics are great, animations are awesome, and the music don't lose to the first game, but the story is so unsatisfactory that everything else don't matter.    … Expand

The creators do not care about the fan base and ruined a legendary could be franchise. The storyline is terrible and lazy, unlike the first game. You will be disappointed. Nothing in this game is good but the graphics.

    To start off they kill the main character in the most nonsensical way imaginable. Then they make you play as the antagonist trying to appeal to her reasoning, which we’ll never understand. And to top it all off, Ellie goes on a rampage to kill everyone to kill said antagonist, just to let her go free.
    Wish Naughty Dog had more respect for their fan base but this game proves they couldn’t care less.

    A technically impressive game, if boring as sin, the beautiful combination of Story and Gameplay that the original put out, gets stuffed by political agendas and a silly "Revenge" story - violence is bad you guys - in the Last of Us Part II. My disappointment is immeasurable. Thank you Naughy Dog, for killing another of the franchises I love.
    I got my refund, you should do the same.

    How on earth can you kill a character you made us spend a whole game to bond with, then do that. This game was built from the relationship of Ellie and Joel created. What's worse is then to rub salt in the wound make you make us play as the person who did it for a large portion of the game!!!!     So the game went like this:
    - hmm you thought joel was a great character huh, well imma have him die a slow and painful death to start things off.
    - oh and you thought the relationship between joel and ellie that the entirety of the first game was building is amazing and special, well guess what not anymore. its riddled with conflicts now.
    - will they resolve them conflicts? wait till the end to see.
    - oh so now you hate abby huh, well lemme try to change your mind with a 15 hour gameplay with abby.
    - oh so you haven't changed your mind and still want her dead, well boo hoo hoo she ain't gonna die b**ch
    - well at least did ellie and joel resolve their conflicts, before he died? well yeah, but actually no.

    A new game from Naughty Dog done well, but plot it as flat and uninteresting, I waited 7 years the same game I fell in love, I fell in love with old heroes Joel and Ellie, and their stories about relationships, and in this new game, the story made for 10 years of "idiots" to me, it is as cheap and uninteresting, do not advise anyone to play this game, the failure of the year

The "story" is a complete joke, not saying the first was any better but the sequel makes any development that happened in that game pointless to fit in a blatant political pandering which is obvious for all to see. That way you won't have buyers remorse and you can feel better about yourself knowing there are a lot of people who bought it and delude themselves into thinking it's good to justify their purchase.     This games story is terrible, It just makes one feel disappointed and depressed that this is all they could come up with in 7 years of waiting. I think all of the writers of the first game quit and we were left with Neil Druckmann and his three yes men writing this game.

    After playing through this game in it's entirety. I can safely say I would've been better off spending my 60 dollars elsewhere and using my time on something enjoyable, unlike this game. The only good thing this game has going for it are the graphics and sound design. Everything else, including the story and game play is downright awful.

    Imagine if Master Chief gets killed by the Arbiter in Halo 2 a few minutes in, and then you play as Arbiter for the rest of the game, as well as Halo 3, 4, 5 and Halo Infinite.

    Thats what this game basically is.

    Lets hope Master Chief is not a white male underneath that helmet.

    A maior decepção da minha vida...passei a geração toda jogando fifa no ps4 e esperando esse jogo,não tenho muito dinheiro então passo meses juntando grana para poder comprar um único jogo no playstation,e para o tlou2 estava guardando desde o início do ano e comprar no lançamento. E as coisas que o diretor da Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, escolheu colocar no jogo foram completamente erradas, e destruiu a experiencia de quem jogou o primeiro e se tornou fã.     When the paid shills fawn over the game giving it 10 out 10 then you know its awful. The creator's actions (dcma take downs) shows they are not worthy of being treated fairly.
    The story is below par. It comes across as a entitled parent story on reddit. 2 minutes in and you feel full from all the BS they have fed you.
    Save your money or go buy the new Skyrim because this turd stinks and needs to be flushed. The fact that you still have websites and paid shills trying in vain to convince actual gamers that this is worthy of playing show everything that is wrong with the industry. Shills are nothing more than political activists masquerading as objective gamers, gaming companies desperately trying to virtue signal to the far left activists that they are "woke".     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
