    Felizmente, finalmente, temos em mãos 'The last of us PART II'.

    É simplesmente uma obra feita pra ser admirada em cada detalhe visual e de sua gameplay.

    Existem MUITAS partes frenéticas onde o jogador vai se encontrar com inúmeras maneiras de passar por aquele lugar, seja em stealth, rambo, assassino, forrest gump...

    O gameplay, nada a reclamar, inteligencia artificial muito superior a do primeiro jogo (existem bugs ou inteligencia mal programada sim, mas são raros momentos), movimentação fluida, em pé, abaixado, deitado ou no cavalo. Minha única reclamação vai pra todos os jogos da naughty dog... POR QUE É TÃO LIXO EMPURRAR LATAS DE LIXO OU CAIXAS NESSES JOGOS?????

    Voltando... Em questão de história, senti sim ela se arrastar em alguns momentos, porém é algo que acontece entrelinhas, como as jovens Ellie e Dina fumando logo no inicio do jogo, algo natural de alguém fazer, porém poderia ser facilmente substituido por algo mais interessante, que fizesse parte da história.

    Peguei muita empatia com a Dina, uma personagem que mesmo deixada no começo da gameplay, ela acaba sendo muito importante durante os 3 dias em seattle.

    !!!SPOILER!!! Na parte em que a Abby encontra a Ellie e quase mata a Dina, porém Lev a impede, admito que quase chorei. pois Dina é uma personagem realmente amável.

    O jogo deixa explicito a politica e a religião inteira envolvendo o enredo, o que pode deixar algumas pessoas com raiva e não gostarem da história por isso, porém não me afetou em absolutamente nada, indiferente pra mim.

    A partir do meio do jogo, eles tentam empurrar a Abby como uma pessoa humana também, como qualquer outro, tentam fazer a gente ter empatia por ela, porém é algo forçado que quase da certo, mas na luta final, a única coisa que eu queria era que ela afogasse a desgraçada.

    A morte do Joel pode acabar desagradando MUITA gente, porém era algo que eu já esperava, não tão cedo. Isso da ao jogador e a Ellie a sede por vingança. Funcionou tanto pra mim quanto pra ela.

    Graficamente violento, incrivel.

    Minha nota só não fica em 10 por conta desses momentos arrastados no enredo. Mas é lógicamente uma obra prima igualmente ao primeiro.

    Se me dão licença, vou jogar no Sobrevivente+ agora.

    Los pro's del juego en si es lo mismo que caracterizó a la primera entrega, limpiamente en tanto gameplay como en gráficos, sublime en esos sentidos.. A parte que por partes te sientes en un mundo abierto al momento de explorar.

    Aqui va lo malo de ésta entrega (spoilers advertidos desde este punto), y es que es muy pobre en cuanto a la historia, desde un comienzo te quitan a un personaje realmente importante, con el cual simpatizabas en gran medida.. Te meten personajes sin un desarrollo como Dina y Jessy, que lo unico que hacen es frenar el rumbo de Ellie de comienzo a fin. Luego van los flashbacks, el punto a favor que tiene es el flashback del cumpleaños de ellie con joel, pero todo se va al abismo por la sobre actuación de la personaje principal al saber la realidad de las luciérnagas, sin entender el propósito que hubo tras Joel, a eso súmenle que te intentan meter de manera obligada a la antagonista, para que "simpatices" con sus propósitos, simplemente obligado, gratis, horrendo según mi punto de vista.

    a Tommy que fue una voz de la razón y el personaje carismático de la entrega, en momentos finales te lo venden como un viejo loco, eso más Dina que abandona a ellie sin entender el punto de venganza y rencor que tiene contra Abby (la antagonista de la entrega), todo esto termina metiéndose a la psique de la protagonista al momento de su venganza, sin poder concretar la muerte de Abby y por ende, dejándola viva.. El único personaje con el cual podías simpatizar termina cayendo al abismo, junto Tommy, jessy y Dina, simplemente despreciable el uso final de Ellie y sus flashbacks de sobre reacción hacia Joel, todo lo que hicieron bien en The las of Us 1 lo han terminando matar de manera pobre en una segunda entrega, que pasaron 7 años puliendo para finalmente entregarnos lo peor .. Algo que simplemente nos hace enterrar los personajes con los cuales simpatizaste en el uno, y deja para el olvido los "complementos" de personajes que nos dieron en esta entrega. Fin.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 예상이 빚나간 이야기, 하지만 플레이하면 할수록 엘리와 애비의 감정과 심리적 갈등이 잘 표현되어 빠져들게 된다. 엘리를 플레이 할때 들었던 의문점이 애비를 플레이 할때 해소된다. 전투면에서도 긴장감과 몰입감 액션감을 충분히 느낄수 있다. 엘리의 감정을 최대한 이끌어 내는 엔딩은 나에겐 너무 슬프게 느껴졌다. 단순한 광기에 빠져 복수하는 복수극이 아니라 1편 사건이후 어색한 관계를 풀어 나가려는 조엘과 엘리 하지만 말하지못한 진실, 서투른 표현과 갈등때문에 좀처럼 풀어나가지 못해 끝내 가슴 아픈 이별은 하게되어 더 복수에 집착하게되는 엘리, 스토리가 절정에 달할수록 뒤늦게나마 조엘과의 관계를 완성해 나가려는 후회가 가슴아프게 다가왔다. 역시 너티독 임을 보여주는 명작!!… Expand

    I enjoyed this game. There were a few parts where it seemed to drag, mostly the sections where you're going from A to B, zigging and zagging through derelict buildings. But other than that, it was a great ride and a cried more than once. Don't believe the trolls. Build your own opinion.

    Please ignore the review bombers and experience this game for yourself. It's a beautifully told story about revenge, and morality. I don't want to say too much to avoid giving anything away, so if anybody is reading this, invest your time into this story. It's worth it.

    hermoso juego ,me parece un falta completamente de respeto lo de ponerle un 0 ,los que se quejan no son fans ,no sabían que Ellie yo lo era incluso antes del primer juego ,lo tratan de forzado y haber mi pregunta es como pretendes que representes un laso afectivo con una persona por la cual Ellie se encuentra atraída ,sin ser esta de su gusto ,no se si me explico ,en pocas palabras sonhermoso juego ,me parece un falta completamente de respeto lo de ponerle un 0 ,los que se quejan no son fans ,no sabían que Ellie yo lo era incluso antes del primer juego ,lo tratan de forzado y haber mi pregunta es como pretendes que representes un laso afectivo con una persona por la cual Ellie se encuentra atraída ,sin ser esta de su gusto ,no se si me explico ,en pocas palabras son unos homófobos si hubiera sido un hombre no existiría tanta cantidad de quejas.     From start to finish this game had me on the fence.
    On one hand it is one of the most visually stunning games of our generation with excellent voice acting and some of the best MOCAP I have ever seen with some truly heartfelt moments.
    On the other hand you have a pretty scrappy revenge plot and some pretty thrown together story elements, a lot of time filler and little to no character    From start to finish this game had me on the fence.
    On one hand it is one of the most visually stunning games of our generation with excellent voice acting and some of the best MOCAP I have ever seen with some truly heartfelt moments.
    On the other hand you have a pretty scrappy revenge plot and some pretty thrown together story elements, a lot of time filler and little to no character dev outside the two main characters.
    With the heritage this game had and the ND at the helm it should have been nothing short of a masterpiece - but unfortunately these few bumps knocked it off course.

The dodge melee mechanics were a great add, but altogether scavenging over and over again gets boring. I played on hard mode and found the game to be too easy, and too flush with resources. Minha expectativa para o jogo era algo sobre uma vingança de um ato horrendo, que já esperava ser a morte de Joel, o motivador máximo para uma vingança tão violenta para Ellie seria esse. Mas ter tido a perspectiva do outro lado, da assassina de Joel, Abby, me fez enxergar e entender porque ela cometeu esses atos. Tanto me agradou refletir sobre essa abordagem, quanto me fez ser uma sensação estranha ao jogar com ela. Vale ressaltar que me fez entender, mas não justificar porque ela fez isso. Abby tem muitos atos questionáveis além do assassinato de Joel, como também tem atos humanos de boas ações. Ter uma antagonista explorada desse jeito foi algo inédito, é uma aula magnifica de empatia, ainda mais sendo o extremo dela, ter empatia por alguém que eu totalmente desprezo por matar um personagem que eu tanto amo.

    A Naughty Dog nos mostra todo o lado humano e realista da moral de um mundo pós apocalíptico. Não é algo preto e branco, atos tem suas consequências e no mundo de The Last of Us, são mais severas ainda. Joel ter matado a maioria dos Vagalumes, ter salvo a vida de Ellie e tirado o valor da vida dela, no ponto de vista de Ellie, de dar uma cura para a humanidade, trouxe a sua consequência iminente que foi sua morte por aqueles que buscam vingança. O ciclo da violência é algo difícil de ser quebrado, vemos no jogo ataques e contra-ataques de atos violentos o tempo todo. O surgimento da WLF contra FEDRA, a traição da proposta de paz entre Serafitas e WLF, a perseguição de pessoas com valores diferentes que os seus (foi incrível ver a jornada de uma criança trans e a naturalidade como isso nos foi proposto). O mundo de The Last of Us é condenado pelo ciclo da violência que a pandemia do jogo trouxe para esse universo proposto. Mesmo tendo respiros de felicidade, a vida nesse mundo é triste e sozinha quando você se deixa consumir pelo o que esse mundo trás de maior, que é a violência. Apreender a lidar com seus demônios, o sentimento de raiva e vingança é muito difícil, não ter a vingança concluída é tão frustrante quanto o ato de concluí-la também, não há final feliz, não há a volta daqueles que se foram. Fiquei totalmente abalado com todo o jogo e como ele se conclui, é um final com gosto amargo, mas perfeitamente executado.

    Você é herói da sua própria história, mas na história de outros, você pode ser o vilão. Ter que lutar com a Ellie foi doloroso, mas foi uma experiência única. Ver ela tomar atitudes que a partir de certos pontos do jogo eu passo a não concordar, porque tenho os diversos pontos de vista em meu pleno acesso, foi algo muito angustiante, mas também sensacional de presenciar. Um bom exemplo foi matar a Whitney, a garota do PS Vita, e depois ter um diálogo opcional com ela na trajetória de Abby, e ver como humanizaram uma personagem que teve que morrer, uma das diversas mortes que acontecem na trajetória de Ellie, fez eu ter uma sensação de angústia por ter participado junto de Ellie nesse ato.

    Esse jogo foi algo único que jamais estava esperando. Entendo a frustração de muitos fãs com a escolha narrativa que foi escolhida, não é algo fácil de se absorver, mas essa é a ideia do jogo. Esses sentimentos na vida real são assim, não são fáceis. Mortes acontecem do nada, vinganças não trazem finais felizes. Mas se algo que fico feliz é de ter tido essa experiência no jogo, refletir sobre esses temas em uma maneira tão imersiva que é jogar videogame, para mim foi algo realmente que ficará marcado na história dos games.

    PS.: Totalmente ridículo críticas que se baseiam em pura rixa de console e "quem lacra, não lucra". Repito, entendo frustrações com o rumo da história, mas notas 0.0 não fazem sentido para esse jogo, anular todo trabalho primoroso de gameplay e contextualização que ele traz tem nenhum sentido.    … Expand

I felt like there was too much time where I played as Abby, that was when I started to tire of the game. But that doesn't make it bad. The ending is going to to be controversial but I think the point was to show how pointless the act of revenge is, and how it will end up hurting the people around you. As for the claim of pandering and "SJW trash." those criticisms are made from bigotry and ignorance, those elements of the story do not negate the quality of this game.… Expand

    The game is so amazing. The graphics down to the gameplay mechanics is spot on and amazing. The story is a 9/10 I understand every characters motives and back story on what they had to do. The game overall is a solid 10. Very fun a emotional roller coaster.

    Last of us part 2 is a dissapointing game that does not mean that it is a bad game. The first 8 hours and the last 3 hours are really good. The part in between not so much. I do think naughty dog falsely advertised the plot of the game in the trailers and i think that that is unacceptable. Whether they did this to prevent spoilers , i still think they should have been more upfront aboutLast of us part 2 is a dissapointing game that does not mean that it is a bad game. The first 8 hours and the last 3 hours are really good. The part in between not so much.     A huge improvement over the original. This game took everything I loved about the original and amped it up. It took clever sneak and kill tactics to the extreme. Beautiful graphics. Useful AI companions. Search and solve puzzles. Hidden rewards for exploring areas thoroughly. Naughty Dog definitely paid attention to what people liked in the first game and kept it. This is one of the fewA huge improvement over the original. This game took everything I loved about the original and amped it up. It took clever sneak and kill tactics to the extreme.     I thought this was a great game! I appreciated the depth in themes and the emotional/ cinematic ride that it provided me. It being close to a movie makes me want to compare it to a slow burner. The idea is not to build up a blockbuster ending, but to explore the little of humanity that’s left in a world like the one the game presents.

    Respecto a la jugabilidad, es como la del primer juego pero muy mejorada. La inteligencia artificial de los enemigos aumenta, pues te rastrean, te flanquean y no fallan los disparos. En cuanto saquen el modo realista, me lo volveré a pasar ( o lo intentaré jajaja). En    Técnicamente es de lo mejor que existe actualmente. Hubiera sido fácil caer en el fan service y deleitar a todo el mundo, pero Naughty Dog nos trae un juego único, un verdadero drama que consigue causar diferentes emociones en el jugador. Me he sentido incómodo, hay partes en las que no quería pelear, partes difíciles de ver, partes que nunca había visto en otro juego. Al final todo se explica y es coherente con la historia del juego, el mundo en el que se desarrolla y con el primer juego. Deja un sabor agridulce difícil de olvidar.

    Super intense sections. Genuinely beautiful moments alongside heartbreaking ones. The story was very different than what I thought it would be, but that made the adventure more intriguing. It is in a different vein "story wise" than the first but still amazing. I feel bad for the butthurt babies giving it a 0.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. HOLY **** INCREDIBLE. first of all, most of these negative reviews sound like **** nazi white nationalist bigots, butt-hurt over the "lgbtq" agenda. Besides that, the rest must have the emotional range of a **** doorknob.
    The game is incredible. INCREDIBLE. heres why.
    Story:
    Watching joel get his face smashed in hurt. that gutted me pretty hard. One of my favorite relationships in a game, shattered in an instant. all of that while introducing us to new characters, and maintaining old ones. I see so many complaints about plot holes, but not one example and i cant think of a single plot hole. The story is a rollercoaster emotions, masterfully done. by the end, i found a smaller part of myself hoping for a brutal death for abby. I would have still prefered a choice at the end, to kill her or not to kill her, but i was still very satisfied. i thought the story really gave me everything i wanted. i was about to be pissed when i thought the game ended in the theatre. thankfully that didnt happen. all the idiots complaining about a lack of backstory for "abby" are just that, idiots. shes not a character that needs a backstory. you immediatly know and understand her motivations, its obvious from the start. but getting the chance to play her and watch her/grow and change is what was really special. its something ive never experienced in a game, and i loved every second i hated. and in the theatre with ellie, i wont lie, i let Ellie kill me a **** ton. but i made it through, and it made the ending that much more meaningful. so many idiots complain about tearing down the first story? how the **** are people this shortsighted. litterally half these idiots arguments boil down too "joel dead game bad" or "lgbtq agenda bad" or "me not likey abby, *random mindless complaint*".

    Game-play: thankfully i dont see too many complaints about bad game-play. the dumbest ones are those that say its old and boring... like holy **** these people, or the morons saying its a complete "copy paste". get a **** brain please. There are severe and dramatic improvements over the first. the core gameplay of a third person shooter is there. which was the first one, but now, they added a rewarding, although basic, skill tree system, and a bit deeper weapon upgrade system. but, thats only the icing on the cake. having finished the first game only a couple days prior(3rd playthrough), i was very happy with the improved AI and severely upgraded stealth mechanics. what used to be, sneak behind and stabby(not complaining) is now, so much more. i can stab that runner down, pull out a **** sniper, dome the clicker, sprint away, through some wall cracks, and as the runners/clickers fly by, shoot the runner with a silencer, and watch as the clicker hits the mine. **** orgasmic. felt even better with the human ai. And the scare factor in this game was roughly on par for me. the introduction of stalkers(invisible to the 'listen' mechanic) really made for some creepy moments. there AI was truly distrubing for me. watching them follow me, keeping me at a distance until i was distracted, or i rushed them. made those times that i managed to catch them off guard humping a wall, that much more satisfying. the "rope" mechanics were pretty meh, few and far between. but that really wasnt a concern. there were fewer puzzles, they seemed to be replaced by safe/code combo's. which were pretty interesting, and usually less tedious. if anything they made me read and enjoy more of the notes/letters in teh world. as for the open world, the areas were very open, it took me a bit to really get used to taking advantage of some of the larger areas. adding to this the prone mechanic is my favorite addition, next to the silencers.

    Graphics: really? if your a graphics whore, we have nothing in common. that said, these are some of the best i've seen on a console.

    overall Pros. Story is a rollercoaster of emotions and has some of the most visceral, gut wrenching scenes ive ever witnessed. Gameplay has made great improvements in all the right places. and graphics are top **** less tedious exploration overall. awesome stealth mechanics, and a huge improvement to the blood/gore and gun sounds.

    cons. the open world was really hit or miss. you start in Seattle in this large area on a horse, that lasts all of 1hour, at which point say goodbye to that. probably for the better though, it felt empty. let me murder abby please.    … Expand

Owszem może śmierć Joela nie była ukazana w jakiś piękny sposób tak skłaniała graczy do podjęcia zemsty. Ostatecznie Elie rozumie, że zemsta nie jest dobrym rozwiązaniem. I może miałbym trochę do zarzucenia jeśli chodzi o sam przebieg akcji wokół śmierci głównego bohatera, bo na samym początku gry byłem mocno zszokowany i mogliby to zrobić inaczej. Brakowało mi takiego uhonorowania postaci z którą zżyłem się w pierwszej części. Co do reszty czyli wątków pobocznych, to nie rozumiem skąd ten cały hejt ale nie będę drążył, bo to zależy od odbiorców czyli to jaki inni postrzegają pewne rzeczy choćby jak lgbt, które dla mnie osobiście były dobrze wplecione w grę. Jeśli chodzie o mechanikę to był podobny jak w 1 tlou tylko trochę bardziej rozbudowany co oczywiście na plus.
    Jeśli mowa o mzuyce to delikatna i w pewnych momentach dobrze budowała atmosferę. Ostatecznie doceniam co twórcy mieli mieli do przekazania w swojej grze i ode mnie ocena jak widać.    … Expand

I got spoiled by some jerks on reddit, well not spoiled but told that someone could wait to kill Joel and Ellie. I kinda forgot about it till the moment when we switched to Abby and I spent that hole part as Abby dreading getting back to the theater and having to kill Ellie. Even with that I have to say it was super interesting to see the other side. I can’t remember a game that has ever had me play as what was essentially the big bad of a game. I did bawl through the entire fight as abbey with ellie. I am currently playing again and I am enjoying taking it slow this time. This game is undeniably a masterpiece and I can’t wait till I can talk to all my friends about it as they play through it.… Expand

    Most sequels to classics are love letters to fans because the artists want to reciprocate our love and appreciation for them. RDR2, God of War, etc. these games are love letters to their fan bases, they have so much fan service. This game is not that. Однако на сюжет в целом негативно не влияет. Перекачанная Эбби? Да, выглядит не очень сексуально, но как это влияет на твоё восприятие истории? Именно - никак. Через 10-15 минут ты уже привыкнешь и будешь воспринимать героя по другому. Тот же Джоел получил то, что заслуживал. В чем претензии? В нормальной мотивации для игрока? Сценарно игра построена отлично. В какой то момент игры за Эбби я понял, что не хочу за неё играть. До момента попадания в плен. Где герой преображается и показывает другую сторону личности. И в момент первой стычки с Элли я бросил геймпад на стол. Эта игра имеет минусы. Она слегка затянута, встречаются баги. История Лева с его непринятием себя как мальчика, как по мне, лишнее. Однако Дракманн сделал эмоциональные американские горки. В одной сцене ты пускаешь трогательную слезу, а в другой уже с криком: «Да когда же ты уже сдохнешь!», бьешься против Серафитов. Потом у тебя отваливается челюсть от того, как ты серпом вырезаешь пол щеки врагу. И так на протяжении всей игры. Если погружаться в историю, внимательно следить за персонажами, пытаться понять их мотивацию, то начинаешь сопереживать и тем, кого ненавидишь по началу. Эта игра не заслуживает 0 или 3 балла. Кому то она взорвет сидалище. (Это касается только тех кто поиграл в неё). Но это крепкое художественное произведение. Да, не как первая часть. Да, со своими проблемами и рудиментами. When I saw all the negativity following Last Of Us II I thought something actually went wrong but apparently the reality of the situation was people hated the reality of the situation. Realistically this was never going to have a happy outcome. It didn’t even have a happy beginning and you could only be so lucky to have the story cut off before you could get taken on the rest of the journey. When Last Of Us Part II was announced in my heart I already knew what the deal was and a lot of people wanted to think they also knew what the deal was as well. Actions, no matter how insignificant they may seem to you, will have consequences. This is a world where our heroes can very easily be another person’s villain and vice versa. However, not everyone is going to get to go out like a hero no matter how much in your heart you feel as if they should. It’s why a lot of people talk down on the movie Glass. People couldn’t handle the reality of that situation either so they’ll try and say that the “story was bad” or how “characters were ruined”. Finding something to blame so they could justify their feelings. Don’t come to the Last Of Us for a typical good time. You can, however, come for the good genuine moments amidst a very bad time. That’s The Last Of Us, that’s always been The Last Of Us and it isn’t the time to start getting all shocked and feeling betrayed now when you realize your dad isn’t Superman. It’s great that people love and feel so strongly for these characters but they shouldn’t let that blind them to what this world is. These characters aren’t going to act the way you expect them to or hope that they would. To barrow the tagline to Days Gone, this world comes for you and this world is bigger than Joel and Ellie. The Last Of Us is bigger than Joel and Ellie. Now I said all that to say this.. This is a beautifully done game that is getting lost in all of the negativity. It hurt my heart and attacked every part of my soul but even so I absolutely appreciate the journey they took me on. It was an honest one. One I’ll never forget even though part of me wishes I could. That’s a pain that’s never going away. They did an amazing job with this game from top the bottom and in closing……Ow.” Game Paul was fun the horror aspect were truly terrifying it did drag towards the middle but then immediately picked up again.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the first game and loved it, so i did my best to avoid and ignore any of the leaks posted recently. I was utterly disappointed in this sequel, complete disregard for the characters and their personalities which were setup in the first game. The story then goes on to ham-fistedly shout about a very basic moral statement 'REVENGE BAD!!'. It continues to shout this all game and tries to end on the same note, despite the main antagonist getting revenge and she's completely fine.

    The game tries to make us feel empathy towards various characters in very lazy ways i.e flashbacks. While the flashbacks themselves are some of the most well executed aspects of the game in terms of contained storytelling, they are used in the worst possible way. Hours after a supposedly major character death (whose name i immediately forgot or never even remembered) these flashbacks show up to try and humanise the dead character and try to make the player feel bad for something they've already forgotten about doing.

    The game also tries to stress the method of killing these people is so brutal and graphic, as to make Ellie break down at times, despite having just mowed through 100 other people, killing them in just as graphic, if not worse ways. The game tries cheap tricks to compound on this feeling, such as the 'ha, she was pregnant' card like 3 times and the 'how could you kill an animal' card.

    As for the controls and gameplay, nobody really plays this game for these aspects, but to put a final nail in this coffin, they suck. Like everything else in the game, its been made to look nice but they are still the same controls from the game 7 years ago. The extend, that i get bored playing it at times. You didn't notice it in part 1, because there were regular story beats, or character interactions to break up the longer stretches between key moments. Here we have very extended stretches, where the character you play, is completely alone, for a long time, so there is nothing to distract you from the poor gameplay.

    The only redeeming area of this game for me, is the artwork, both acted and drawn. The world and people in it are animated incredibly well and there are some magnificent panoramic shots. The mo-cap voice acting was also second to none, other than maybe the first game. Just a shame, the phenomenal actors and actresses were given such utter drivel to work with.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to give the game an 8.5 and since the game is getting review bombed, I'll give it a 9 to represent that I truly believe this is a (relatively) great game.

    This game follows the SPIRIT of the original and I think that runs through every aspect of it. Having played the original a multitude of times on all difficulties and to pursue 100% completion on both ps3 and ps4, I can say I am familiar with the original and what I am comparing to in 2.

    Pros:
    I'm gonna say this now: the story is better in its own ways, in my opinion (will share some gripes/observations later). I believe if you were to read this as a standalone novel or watch as a standalone movie, especially with different characters, the story is compelling, often well-paced, and a bold step to take for the series.

    The combat is improved in many ways. You have more options to deal with many encounters, albeit encounters seem to be bigger, so you still have to play smart and manage resources, at least on the harder difficulties.

    New struggles to deal with within encounters. New enemy types primarily, yet also some (subtle) changes to how known enemies react, particularly in recognizing fallen companions. On this note (which I think is the best part) many enemies, when they see a companion fall will call out a unique name. Subtle improvement, but very powerful. It also ties into the main story's themes.

    Cons:
    The story spends maybe more time than is necessary on a particular character. While I enjoy the overall gameplay mechanic and MOST of the time I appreciated what the intent was and felt the impact, I got to a point where I just wanted to move on, that the point was made.

    Additionally on the story, I had hoped the game would end two chapters earlier. It didn't and the final two chapters were frustrating to have to go through... at first. I think there was a solid (albeit bleak) payoff that ALMOST made the epilogue, so to speak, worth it.

    Other thoughts:
    Per pacing, it moves MUCH slower than the original. The opening is bombastic to set the stage and remind players of the stakes and then it SLOWS considerably. I did not mind this slower more methodical story-telling, and I really think it lends to the overall atmosphere and beauty of the game. But take from that what you will.

    LIGHT SPOILERS (although apparently everyone but me read the "leaks" and decided the game is bad before they played it): This game is not about two people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. This game is ABOUT that post-apocalyptic world and what it does to people. The first game's brilliance is in how it used it's setting and journey to redeem an old man who lost a daughter and show her growing into an adult despite willing to sacrifice herself. The side characters were special (for their time) albeit a tad under-developed. They helped the team and lent to poignant moments, but they were not really important.

    In TLoUP2, the message is about how everyone is dealing with the same issues, that everyone has people who they care about and that ANYONE can do terrible things if brought to it. Joel's redemption arc in the original was not about making him a good guy, it was about him finding something to fight for again. And audiences (me included) loved it. Yet in the end he slaughtered hundreds of people trying to find a cure for millions just to save Ellie. TLoUP2 is about the consequences and the never-ending cycle of revenge, and the costs.

    I'm just gonna include it here, both because I know many hate the topic, and also because I am a cis, white, hetero man and can only comment as such, but representation, of all kinds, is pretty spot on here, I believe. In my playthrough of the original leading up to release, I noticed that NONE of the AI characters were female presenting except infected. Just weird. The NPC enemy generator in TLoUP2 has EVERY combination of male/female and skin tone and that's a pretty cool detail. Also in regards to representation: I mean Ellie has definitely been gay since the first game (all but confirmed in the DLC). Additionally, the trans "story-line" isn't even a main plotline... it's just the reason why an important character is where they are when they're there. And if it were a main plotline... I guess this wouldn't be the game for you if it bothers you so much.

    All-in-all, a powerful and solid game to follow-up the original. Is it as good? I'm still processing that myself. But I highly recommend you find out for yourself, because, at the very least, I believe you could have a wonderful time, just like I did.    … Expand

This game goes beyond anything I've ever played to deliver a beautiful, BRUTAL, immensely emotional experience that grips you tightly and doesn't let you go until the credits start rolling. Being a HUGE TLOU fan, I knew that ND would deliver, and they did that...and so much more. Ashley's acting as Ellie is top-notch, and really grabs at your heartstrings, or makes you shiver in fear( whatever her mood at that moment)The story is truly amazing, and complex, and it makes you think...A person can be a Hero to someone- but be a Villain to someone else. I love that the game touched on that- especially with the addition of the trading cards to push that notion. I'm saddened to find out that a lot of TLOU fans aren't able to really look at the bigger meaning of the plot, or understand the immaculate storytelling this game has to offer. I thought they'd be more complex than that. Another 10/10 and GOTY in my book. Well done, ND, well done.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II was an incredibly sad journey. We must remember that we arent here to choose the story for Ellie and Joel but experience their story with them. Lots of people didnt like the choices made by the characters but it's not your story to tell. Just to experience. Phenomenal game with great story telling I highly recommend it.

    I don’t understand why the game is getting so much hate, I realize that there were some decisions that can put people with a negative feeling about this game, but overall i enjoyed it very much and is easily one of the best games I've played!

    i loved every thing , from graphics to music , i had a falling in the beginning of the game but slowly accepted the fact that revenge will always make you lose your soul , thank you naughty dog

    Masterpiece. This game a lot about violence and after end of the story you think "Was it worth it?'. The game is like a roller coaster, in which the player experiences all sorts of emotions. Applause!

    This game is proof that not everything needs a sequel, should have just stopped after the 1st game

Amazing graphics and decent game play, however it is similar to the first game, but personally I felt the story severely lacked and with it being a story based game, the scoring took of from it is much greater. I also feel that Joel had to die but I feel that the way it was executed did a disservice to his character despite his flaws which ruins the relationship us players built up about him from the first game by killing him off in such a painful and horrible way. Despite the message the game tries to convey about revenge, it also misses out on the point of justice as Abby got away with all the terrible crimes she committed herself. Fundamentally killing a beloved character off in vein will never make something successful unless it is executed properly. For example, Joel could of died saving Ellie and Abby could of seen this as justice to her own pain but also forgiveness as she sees the man she hunted do something selfless which conveys both a message in revenge is wrong but to also forgive people when the try to do the right thing which in turn shows development in Abby's character as she changes her ideal of revenge. But instead of this we saw her commit evil actions which makes us hate her even more when we play as her.… Expand

    Writing this review from Pakistan , im 10-12 hours in to the game and i just simply can say there is nothing that could be compared to it,
    People are not able to get over little things rather than experiencing the Entire game And have a look at the bigger picture here what it all sums up to . A solid 10 for me!

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
