    I am posting a review because of the incredibly misguided backlash from other user scores. Most of these reviews were posted so close to launch it seems fishy, and many of these people could only have played a portion of the story before posting a zero. The story is well written so far, the gameplay is tight, exciting, terrifying, and immersive. The environments are so well realized it’s hard to comprehend. I was walking through the barn in Jackson and could actually smell it, that’s how much detail they put into the world... Anyone who has a problem with the social themes get over yourself. The game doesn’t force anything down your throat or anything close to that, it’s just part of the story in the game and there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever. If you have a problem with this in 2020, get an education and try again. This game is so easily a 9 out of 10 at minimum based on what I’ve seen so far. It absolute deserves your time and I can’t wait to finish it.… Expand

    I absolutely love this game. I was a huge fan of the first game so when I saw this was announced I pre-ordered immediately. What an amazing job they’ve done over there at Naught Dog. A very talented team all across the board. I’m excited to see what other games they put out in the future! All of you guys who are bombing this rating because you think it’s pandering to the SJWs need to get aI absolutely love this game.     This game is insanely beautiful and a very good game all in all.
    Don't pay attention to the butthurt snowflake 0/10 reviews that claim there is an "agenda" at play just because there are LGBT characters. It's sad that there are still people out there this ignorant and hateful in 2020.
    Anyway, it is a great game. I would say the most beautiful on the PS4 yet. Story is very good too.

    An absolute joke of a game. The deceptive trailers lead you to believe that Joel is more involved in the story than he actually is. It seems as though Naughty Dog has fully embraced the "woke" SJW agenda-pushing it onto players while in turn abandoning what made the first game truly great. The connection that WE as players felt towards Joel and Ellie.

Just finished the game and enjoyed all segments, the fact that this game is getting review bombed is really bizzare as it gives one of the best single player experiences to date. I completed the game in just over 24 hours and can’t wait to get back in and do it all again in new game plus. The game in my opinion does a good job in terms of story as it attempts to show both sides of a story even if they know most are going to be in favor of the lead characters from the first game instead of the new antagonist/ protagonist depending on how you want to view them. Whilst I can say Ellie’s segments were tense and fun there was also an equal amount of player satisfaction when playing as Abby as some of the set pieces you explore with her can prove to be better than Ellie’s in some cases. For Abby there were many moments that enjoyable with my favorite scene being in her portion of the game even though I prefer Ellie as a character, this scene being the ground zero area of the hospital where you encounter the most terrifying infected to date. I’d say my only complaints with the game is that there is no real reward for completing it and finding all artifacts, entries, workbenches, safes etc other than points you can spend on concept art and character models when I feel as if it would have benefited from an unlock to look forward to such as a special weapon, outfits (which were present in the first game but removed here) or a cutscene to add complete closure on what I assume is the last we will see of our characters after the ending was still a bit open ended with it being unclear if Ellie returns to Jackson, where Abby went, Tommy’s reaction to hearing what Ellie did and many other things which I hope we find out either through media or possible dlc. All in all I believe the game is a faithful sequel that stays true to its roots whilst adding new mechanics that added enjoyment to my play through, I grew to like new characters and hate others only to have my initial opinions dissipate (in a good way) and I hope we see future dlc or a new game in the series at some point in the future. 9/10 solid game and thoroughly enjoyed.… Expand

    Naugthy Dog tiene muy buenos trabajadores, que han hecho sin dudar alguna, un trabajazo de 10. Tristemente, les toco tener como directo a Neil Druckman, una lastima.
    Por lo menos creo que no se han cagado en la magia del primero y eso es suficiente para mi. Creo que el juego solo por su historia se merece un 10.. pero negativo xd.

They've kept basically the same gameplay as the original game and although enjoyable it remains a bit clunky. So what keeps you going just like the first one is the game being story-driven, unfortunately the already struggling story goes downhill the moment you start playing as Abby. When you reach what seems to be the final confrontation as Ellie the scene ends and you start playing as Abby, cutting the story when it gets interesting to force me to walk as slowly as possible and watch as many boring cutscenes about character i don't care for is a terrible choice. You quickly realize they're not gonna kill this character with how much effort was put into telling her story in a forced attempt to empathize and mirror some of Ellie's own story as in your face as possible. I just couldn't find myself to care and only kept pushing in the hopes that when I switch back to Ellie I get to kill this b*tch. Except you don't switch to Ellie instead as Abby you beat the **** out of the characters that you actually cared about. Do a timeskip and Ellie and Dina are living on a farm (talk about lesbian stereotypes) when Tommy shows up to tell you he found Abby. Ellie goes after her, loses some fingers and when she's almost drowning Abby to death she has a change of heart... So she spares her just like Abby did the last two confrontations and Abby leaves on the Main Menu boat. Ellie returns home to find her girlfriend is gone and the game ends. The low score is because this mediocre a** story is an insult to the protagonists of the original. Joel is dead and Ellie is living her biggest fear, ending up alone. I get it the boats symbolizes loneliness, but there's not enough here to justify the cruelty which the writers inflict on Ellie.… Expand

I am a huge fan of the Uncharted series, which is the only reason I picked up this game or the last one. I'm a man of few words, but here goes.

    If the cycle of revenge is so bad, why does Abby get to brutally murder Joel without remorse, and get to continue about her life as if nothing happened? Why doesn't Ellie get the same satisfaction? Abby even took away Ellie's ability to play the guitar, taking away what was arguably the only everlasting gift Joel gave her, and yet neither Ellie nor the player is given any agency whatsoever in deciding Abby's fate. Naughty Dog should be ashamed of themselves. You have wronged every player and I hope you realise Neil Druckmann is a pathetic excuse for a director. I will not be playing another one of your games.    … Expand

    I honestly don't get all the low reviews. I pre-ordered it and played it while avoiding all the spoilers beforehand. It was glorious for me. I tried to lock myself up and got into it. The story, gameplay, graphics, sound, acting, voice work is utter perfection. The motivations of each character felt authentic and I can empathize with them.

In the beginning it was easy to hate Abby, she brutally killed my favorite character, destroying the relationship between Ellie and Joel that I bought the game to see further develop. However, once swapping to Abby’s point of view and understanding why Abby killed Joel, I found it hard to be mad. And that’s the point of this game, yes it is called the last of us, but there are many people in the world doing what they can to survive after the outbreak.… Expand

They kill Joel in the beginning and then try to make us feel empathy for Abby by trying to justify her actions. The ending was also pretty bad. Ellie goes out to find Abby but doesn't even kill her in the end. Story-wise it gets a solid 1/10 but gameplay 8/10.… Expand

I think it’s a great secret from the last of us part one and I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but that’s my opinion. And I know how they killed off Joel wasn’t the best but really. Naughty dog did what they wanted to do this is their game after all. I played the last of us part one a few months ago before this came out. And I wasn’t expecting much from the sacral and that’s all you had to go into this if you haven’t played it yet you can’t expect much this is a secret after all I went into this just hoping for the best and I got what I wanted it was a good game to my heart. I’m still playing it I don’t know how far I’m at but I’m still playing it and I really like it… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am not usually one to write reviews of any sorts, but the bombing of bad reviews for this game that are straight up bad just had me feeling like putting in some positivity.

    Some points in here I can absolutely understand. While the sotry isn't bad, I do definitely feel like it has less of an impact on me than the story of the first game did. The previous one was a beautiful journey with two central characters getting to know each other through this journey and bonding, ultimately turning into their own little family.
    You won't get this with this game.
    The second part goes into a lot darker theritories and is less about telling telling a story about a journey. Nevetheless, I did like the story. Not everybody might agree with it, but in the end of the day things like these are subjective to everyone.

    Talking about gameplay, there was mainly one thing I did not like: Playing Abby.
    While I do understand what ND tried to do here (telling us her side of the story), the actual impact it had was very marginal. The entire section where we, the players, play as Abby feels empty and somehwat pointless. I would not have needed 8h+ of playing her to understand what she went through and that the things Ellie did have consequences. This could have been done in a 2-3h of gameplay and really did not need an interruption of over 8h of playing the actual main character, Ellie.

    Anyhow... For me, this game deserves a good 8/10 since everything else it has to offer is on the highest level you can wish for in any game. The story does have some rough edges, but is generally good. I would recommend everyone to, whilest not a master piece like the first one, play this game.

    What's great about this game? Everything: gameplay, gunplay, crafting, tactics, graphics, A.I., story, characters, music, sound, pacing even the difficulty levels are feeling right.
    A must play of this console generation.

    The overall plot, aside from some side arcs here and there, takes some massively disappointing directions and virtually every main character is portrayed in ways that I found either completely irredeemable, pretty uninteresting or just unrealistic given the character development of the first game.

    The plot is also so intent on hammering you with its anvilicious point, which is cliche anyway, and unrelentingly bleak tone that even I find it to be an exercise in cinematic masochism.

    Not because I can't handle or don't like violence, death or dark stories, just the opposite in fact.

    Here it just feels like a pointless depressing chore with no light at the end of the tunnel.

    I expect to feel or learn something meaningful but you never do.

    The world sucks, people suck and sucky things happen, we all seen that done before.

    And YES, there is an unquestionable LGBTQ agenda of sorts inserted into the game and while it’s not necessarily the worst aspect of the game for me, I do think it comes off as fairly obtuse and contrived in the context of this story. I reflexively rolled my eyes more than once truth be told.

    However, as a fan of the first installment of the series, the most unforgivable thing the game does is how it goes about bludgeoning the main characters of the original game, in most ways characterization wise but often enough literally.

    Its like this game was made to be a spiteful and twisted mockery of everything that was great about the first game but filled with bad writing and subtle "woke" preaching.

    While the game is obviously far from the most egregious pile of garbage ever to hit a console... it is a huge misstep and a massive disappointment for me, especially given the masterful presentation and writing of Last of Us part 1.    … Expand

They should of left it alone and not made a sequel instead of giving us this. It sucks cuz I like the gameplay a fair bit more than the first game but the story is just bad

El juego te lleva a través de una historia cuyo fundamento es ignorar la inteligencia de los personajes desarrollados en en primer TLOU. Una pobre historia de venganza que Ellie no llega a concretar, pues la pelea y muerte alguna de ellas significaba poner en contra a los grupos que Ellie y Abby representan dentro de la comunidad LGBT. Mecánicas similares al primer juego donde no se hace más que smashear el botón para golpear y una mecánica de salto más inutil que la dirección de éste juego. Aplaudo la inclusión, me parece que se deben crear más historias que incluyan minorías, pero con personajes mejor desarrollados. Iré a devolver el juego. Si bien la historia es de Naughty Dog y Neil Druckmann y ellos pueden hacer lo que deseen con ella, nosotros los jugadores podemos decidir no dar más dinero a juegos con mecánicas pobres e historias mal dirigidas. Personalmente puedo decir que jamás compraré algo dirigido por Druckmann.… Expand

The graphics and gameplay were so fluid and phenomenal, at times I was just amazed at how well this game looked and felt as I played. A lot of people complain about the story, but they must not have finished the game because it all makes perfect sense, you actually feel the loss and grief of Joel’s death throughout the entire game, which makes the whole point of the story make sense. Abby is a total bone-head and as Mel says, a piece of **** but in the end, she loses everything and gets what she deserves. She also spares Ellie twice in the game and she tries to redeem herself . The game did not push any agenda like these bigots review bombing rn are saying, it barely mentions that one character is trans, but it isn’t sugar coated either. I am still recovering for a few days of beating it because I literally mourn for some of these losses. The game is jaw-dropping at moments and the gameplay is irresistibable. I will be replaying it again. Absolute masterpiece.… Expand

    Amazing game worth every penny.Everything good comes to an end same as in TV shows,movies or games,our favourite characters dies.Nevertheless i loved every single minute spent in this game from very begining till the end.I don't care what other people say,it's their own opinion which i cannot take from them,but for me personally this game is a masterpiece and must play for fans of the first part.

    When it comes to the story the same is true. Naughty Dog is not afraid to show what has never shown in a video game, probably not even in movies. The first TLOU is easily one of the best games I've every played, so naturally when this game was announced it became my most hyped game for the next few years to come. Upon this games release I can honestly say that on the technical side of things, this is dang near a 10/10. Graphically the game is gorgeous, the animations are fantastic and the gameplay is good, although it really doesn't feel that much improved over the first game. However, the story of this game is awful. It feels like a cheap fan fiction that uses shock factor, and forced emotion(killing dogs, even a pregnant woman) for very cheap reactions. The whole idea of playing as Abby for almost half the game was ridiculously stupid. Especially after she brutally murders one of the all time great video game characters, not even 2 hours into the game. I found myself genuinely not caring about any of the new characters throughout the entire game. While I was really upset about Joel's death so early on in this game, I still tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the games story and often slow pacing disappointed me over and over and over again.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Must tell, I haven't played the game, because I do not own PS4. But I have seen a YouTube clip with all the story elements, 11 hours straight, heard some of the opinions. And also, I consider myself a fan of a first game.

    I would like to begin with something good.
    As I have seen, the game has an amazing level of graphics, detail, sound, and design. This is something worth admiring but is it the reason why would people want to buy it? Not really.
    The gameplay turned out to be a slight improvement of the first game. More moves in fighting sequences, free-roaming in a semi-open world.

    But everything is pretty minor because the real gem is always the story in that type of games. And we have a serious problem here. The main character of the first game, Joel, dies in a really stupid way, even I can see that. Too rushed, to dumb, too convenient for the new scenario. They made it bad, dramatic as heck, and pretty much pointless. I am not going to judge the dialogues, some of them are a bit cringy in my opinion, that is rather subjective, so out of the picture.
    Then Jesse. It was a wonderful character, I can even see his appearance make a good impact after Joel's death. But the thing is, he dies like he is nothing. Another loved character who we would love to know better dies. Again, Abby. Oh, and she shot Tommy in the face (but he survives). It seems like she is apex predator, kicks asses of every good guy. They made her look so bad, that you are starting to hate her. The story overall is a bit on the longer side, but they do not use that length to do something good with the whole game. When the people who were in the room when Joel is getting killed die, I felt nothing, like at all. They tried to give us some drama about it, but in the end, even when she kills a pregnant woman, she shakes it off easily, so why should we bother?
    Then, when Abby did everything bad she could, we play as her. I was disgusted, have no better word. I did not care even a bit about her, after the bonds we made with our good characters. And to justify her all we see is that Joel killed her father, who, apparently, is the only person who can make a cure (let's be honest, its rather a vaccine, but it has questionable effectiveness, it's spores after all).
    The ending is something worth mentioning. The final fight is supposed to be intense but turns out to be just trash. Nothing enjoyable. After Ellie saw a Joel flashback, she just let go Abby, the girl she was after for so long because she crippled Tommy, beat her up, nearly kills Dina, kills Jesse and Joel. Oh, and she bit off 2 fingers like a minute before that. Why let her go? Who knows.
    After she has finished, she returns to the farmhouse, where is Dina supposed to be with a kid, but finds nothing. She leaves Joel's guitar in the house and goes into the woods.
    After everything I have seen, I do not see here 7 f*cking years of work.    … Expand

It becomes 10hrs of useless distraction that could have been spent on building up Joel and Ellie a little and making his death feel like it had more value. The end also becomes a joke and completely unsatisfying. Imagine chasing down any antagonist for a while game, killing all their allies, then deciding, nevermind.

    The game feels like a sad mix of Wking Dead for shock factor, Star Wars for ruining established characters, and GoT season 8 for failing to satisfy at the end.

    This is easily the biggest disappointment in gaming in recent history.    … Expand

    Returning on the title. I think that the game is perfect, naughty dog made a really god job. I'm not talking about graphics because that is like from another planet (awesome), i'm talking about the story, the characters. The last of us Part 2 gives us an incredible story, i admit that the ending gave me a little bit of heart break, i would have preferred an alternative ending, but that's still good.
    the characters are made in such a beautiful way, i lived the last of us 2 with dual feelings about Ellie and Abby, but as much as i hated Abby, the game wouldn't have been the same without her.
