    If you're a person who truly loved the first game and what it brought to the table in terms of the story, characters/character development, and pacing, you'll be very dissapointed when playing this game. There are improvements from the first game in terms of level design, graphics, and gameplay, all of which have been refined and improved. The sound, accessibility settings, and enemy movements, are other aspects that were improved mightly, and as a game, this one actually plays better than the original game. However, these improvements aren't enough to make up for the story that they gave fans.

    What a slap in the face that was. Beloved characters were treated terribly and often made decisions that didn't match up with who we had seen them as before. A specific example is within the first 2 hours of the game, many of you will know what I'm talking about. I actually liked Jesse and Dina, although they were a bit underdeveloped as they focused more on building up unlikable characters. The first 10 hours is actually pretty good, but then there is roughly a 10 hour section of the game that was incredibly boring and frustrating to play as no matter what the writers did, it wouldn't change my opinion on the characters they focused on. There was only one enjoyable part during that section, which isn't enough to make up for the rest of it.

    Then the writers make you dislike that character even more and it makes you think that you'll actually get a satisfying resolution just to end up getting an extremely sad and anticlimactic ending that ultimately made no sense.

    I never wanted a sequel, as I wasn't sure that they could recapture the spark, and boy did my fears come true. Naughty Dog really missed the mark here.    … Expand

    Film grain option needs to be added to this game asap, the last of us 1 looks better to me, why put film grain in the game and not give us the option to turn it off, i cant even enjoy the game because of the game doesnt even look 4k because of the stupid film grain wont play this game until the put a patcj giving us the option to turn it off.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here comes a legit review from someone that' sees the game for what it wants to say to the players. Something that's overlooked because you can't see clearly when you're disappointed and angry about the game.

    The game is beautiful. A very complex story. Very hard to sink in. It kicks off with you being angry that one of your favorite characters gets killed so early in the game. I was too. I didn't like Abby at first. There were moments I wanted to give up playing because I didn't want to play her for so many hours. But I get why ND did this.
    Abby kills Joel because he killed her father. The only one that could make a vaccine to save the world. Ellie seeks revenge now too and kills Abby's friends. Abby finds out about their deaths. She later finds where they are and kills Jesse, nearly kills Tommy, Dina and Ellie. Saved by Lev (the kid Abby has chosen to look after) that didn't approve of her actions. Revenge is a never ending circle.
    You get to play as Abby and see a whole other side of her. Her life story. Purpose? To change the players view of her and forgive her. She had a big character development and so has Ellie and I'll get to that.
    You get to see how Abby changes in the game when she chooses to take care of two kids over her own crew (The WLF). Also the kids were Scars. The WLF and Scars are fighting each other. One of the kids gets killed bu WLF soldiers and so would the other kid if Abby didn't stand in their way. She defied orders to step aside to protect the kid. This reminds me of how Joel starts to see Ellie as a daughter and takes care of her. You get to play Joel but in a different body.
    Now Ellie hunts down Abby again. Finds her strapped to a pole at a beach. She was exhausted. She lost a lot of muscle mass. Ellie pities her and cuts her down. Abby goes to cut down the kid that was also at the beach. She later carries him and goes for the boat at the shore. Ellie later gets a flash back of Joel of how he died and she couldn't let Abby go. Abby didn't want to fight, she only wanted to take care of the kid. Ellie later threatens to hurt the kid which is unlike Ellie. They start to fight and Ellie has the chance to end it all but chooses not to. She lets Abby go free. Ellie made peace with her demons. She didn't any longer care after all hard work just to kill her. It was not worth it. When you think about it Ellie was in the same position as Abby was before she killed Joel. She probably imagined her of the same situation and chose not to be just like her back then. She chose to be better. Imagining the kid would lose a sister figure. I loved the fact that Ellie let her go. Abby is a good person.
    Ellie later returns home with Dina and their baby gone with only Joels guitar left. She's unable to play because of the loss of her two fingers. She leaves the guitar that symbolises that she leaves Joel's memory behind. And she walks away.
    People are just too angry to see this. They look at it too simple. This is a complex story. A beautiful story. It wants to teach that there's much more than just killing someone for revenge. That person also has a life and people they care about. It's not so simple. The game wants us to think clear and forgive. For what is right. Not for what would feel right when eventually nothing good will come out of it. It's easy to hate someone. It's harder to forgive someone. Be stronger like Ellie.

    Graphics really good.
    Audio really good.
    Gameplay feels like the last of us 1 and that's good
    Story is too complex for most people to comprehend. For me it's really good
    All the crafting options you get to choose from is really good

    despite of all negatives, it is still a solid game. I actually liked the story line that depicts the hate vividly. not too sure what all the other people expect in plot, all beloved one live happily ever after?

Yes the game has some mistakes such as playing as Abby, to me playing as Abby is actually the only mistake that I think they did but i know that most people are angry at Joel’s death and they wanted Naughty Dog to do right by him, but his death makes total sense and here’s why: Joel killed so many people in his life including people that he knew and yet after all the bad things that he did there has to be some consequences and even if he died peacefully just like how Lee from the walking dead it would still make Ellie mad but she won’t be as mad as if they brutally killed him and by that she would seek revenge whatsoever, as for the ending people are mad because Ellie didn’t kill Abby first of all how would do that do any good to Ellie? She has to break the cycle! if she just killed Abby then eventually few years later Lev would revenge Abby’s death and would kill Ellie all that is gonna keep going over and over with no point it’s literally an endless cycle so Ellie had to break it. But I just want to clear out something and that is that they could have given us a better story and i agree with that but we gotta work with what we’ve got and what we’ve got is good and makes total Sense but people are too afraid to admit it.… Expand

I greatly enjoyed the game throughout and the graphics were amazing, however I feel that there was a few points it was lacking as it would have been much better to give you the option to kill Abby or not and I feel that they forced us to do the worse option of the two, other than that Joel's death cause which everyone is complaining about was expected, although people may not like the way that he died I feel that it conveyed the emotion of his death well, I can see why people are upset about it but it's sad to see him go… Expand

Nie każdemu podobają się podjęte w grze decyzje oraz zakończenie, ludzie są tym oburzenie ale bezcelowo. Gra się broni i jest jedną z najlepszych na ps4. Polecam, warto zakupić tytuł i ocenićŚwietna gra, grafika na wysokim poziomie, doskonały scenariusz i ciekawe postacie. This is a masterpiece that’s *deeply* invested in the first game’s world, it’s story    For context, I’m on my ninth play through of The Last of Us, and I’ve put thousands of hours into the multiplayer, Factions.

    To play The Last of Us Part 2. you probably want to make sure you finished the first game because every element of it (minus the multiplayer) is developed and expanded upon here. This is a masterpiece that’s *deeply* invested in the first game’s world, it’s story and gameplay and character development.

    Naughty Dog brought a lot of the mechanics of Uncharted 4 into this title and uses them to stunning effect. If I had to guess, these mechanics are part of why they’re not releasing a multiplayer with the game, as they significantly change the combat mechanics of the first title in an utterly thrilling and gripping way.

    While it’s no open world, it really feels like there’s a lot to explore all the time and I can’t wait to replay this one and see if there actually were multiple paths, because I’d certainly feels like I could have made different choices at various points along the way.

    This is fantastic work at every level, an utterly worthy sequel to one of the most transformative games I’ve ever played. It’s the game I’ve been waiting for ever since I feel fell in love with TLOU. I can’t wait to see what Naughty Dog has in store for the multiplayer idea they teased us with.    … Expand

    The last of us 1 was a good story, because it was a story, not just a string of events, that let you be part of it. Let you tag along.
    Here you are basically takes by the neck and pushed face first into everything the writer(s) think(thought) you HAVE TO experience. With the dark tones and violence to make up for anything that is acutally engaging.
    And that is just lazy.
    With far too many missed opportunities for actual depth.
    It really feels like more of a celebration of some suppressed adoration for violence, that the writer(s), than anything else.
    Violence turned up to 11. Is this still a game? Should one still be allowed to call it that?

    This makes it a very, very uncomfortable experience. In the way it is uncomfortable when somebody who you just got to know, who are drinking a beer with, everything being amicable, suddenly starts to tell you how he wished someone would kill all the...you get my point.

    Yes I liked the first game. No I do not recommend to those who are looking to play the sequel. Story-wise.

And the stealth mechanics are serviceable. Some of the environmental puzzles are smart and others do fall short. The shooting is passable at best but a bit cumbersome. Now as for the story, this is where the game trips over its own two feet and falls flat on its face. The two main characters seem to lose a lot of continuity from the first game to this one. They don’t behave logically as the first game has set them up. A third of the way of the game a character is removed for what seems to be no reason, which sets you on a unsatisfying, and unrewarding quest for revenge. This game being a story driven game, that really hurts the over all appeal of this I.P. The new characters are undeveloped and unlikeable. And in a dark and dystopian setting, there’s really not not to cheer for or get behind.… Expand

Death which is sacrificial, in the arms of a loved one, uttering poignant and emotional final words. The death of Joel strips away the ideals, and presents death in its most horrific form - brutal, sudden and helpless. The desire for a romanticised portrayal of death is such that the response of many to the death of Joel has been one of anger. This of course is justified in the context of the game, Naughty Dog wants you to share the burning desire for vengeance felt by Ellie. Many are instead aiming this anger at the game. Joel's death appears to be the foremost criticism of many user reviews. However, The Last of Us Part 2 is not a fan pandering safe sequel where Joel and Ellie go on another road trip, with Joel dying a Hollywood style death at the stories climax, saving Ellie's life in the process. If that is what you expected or wanted, then you clearly weren't paying attention during the first game. The Last of Us contained the deaths of several children, attempted rape, cannibalism and torture. It concluded with a man murdering a hospital full of people who are trying to save man-kind, in order to save a girl who he knew if given the choice would sacrifice herself willingly, causing him to consistently lie to her about events. The death of Joel is merely a continuation of the trend of post-apocalyptic brutality displayed in the first game and if that is something you find hard to stomach then this game is probably not one you will enjoy. It is certainly not a valid reason for labelling the game as bad, as many have done. I also find the abundance of people criticising the game for having a political agenda because it contains homosexual and trans characters to be a sad reflection on many. Their sexuality has little to no bearing on the story and serves to make the game a more accurate representation of our diverse society. It is entirely positive that we see more characters that display the diversity of human beings and the reaction to it simply reveals people's prejudices.

    The story's genius is in taking you willingly on a path of vengeance with Ellie before turning the tables and showing you the perspective of Abby who has just as much justification for her revenge on Joel as Ellie does on her. It creates a villain only to show how they are no different to our protagonist by shifting the perspective about halfway through the game. The narrative is not without flaws. The progression of the story at times slows too much to the point of feeling like a drag. In these areas the same plot points could have been reached and explored in a more concise manner. The ending is thought provoking and will spark much debate, and I am still toiling with why exactly Ellie chose to spare Abby. The fact that the ending left me in such an emotional void is a testament to just how bleak of a tale Naughty Dog created. The game left me bereft of emotional satisfaction, which is exactly how I believe the developers wanted to make the audience feel. The voice acting is top notch as usual in Naughty Dog games. Overall I thought the story was gritty, dark, sad and utterly brilliant.
    The gameplay is instantly familiar to anyone who played the first game. It feels frantic, intense and real. Human enemy AI is frustratingly intelligent, communicating, coordinating and flanking. Infected sections feel more like other zombie games, I would liken them to a fast paced Resident Evil game. There is not a lot which is new here, the gameplay is more of a refinement of the first games offering. This is not a necessarily a negative as I very much enjoyed the gameplay in both titles but it is not without flaws. On several occasions I found myself remaining undetected through large environments filled with enemies only to be unable to find the exit in order to progress and thus was discovered. This made much of my successful sneaking feel wasted, which ultimately felt unsatisfying. Some clearer indication of where to go in some larger areas would have been a welcome feature. I sometimes also found shooting some larger human enemies in the head would not kill them in one shot which I found to be a bizarre design choice. Another issue that occurred with infected enemies was that they would trigger a bomb I had laid in another location, causing all other infected to run to me, despite me being wholly in cover and away from the location of the explosion. I also actually preferred the feeling of melee combat in the first game, it felt more satisfying and incorporated the environment into the kill more often.
    Overall the game is excellent- neither the story or gameplay are perfect but their positives dwarf the flaws. The Last of Us 2 presents some of the most realistic combat, stunning visuals and accomplished story telling ever in a video game.    … Expand

    I don't understand why people gave this a negative review, but it is actually a really great game. It has a lot of story twists that can be quite controversial and might infuriate people. The game puts in a great story to accommodate its great game play. I would equally rate the first and the second as the same because they are both very good games.     Such a great follow up to the original. The story goes to places you wouldn't expect and forces you to deal with the choices made in the first game. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay just as tight if not better than the first. Don't sit on this one.

    Best game I've played for this generation of consoles and one the best I ever played in my life! I felt so many emotions during the gameplay, I cryed a lot, I laughed, I got nervous... I was deep in it for it has an impressive history, perfect mechanics, mind-blowing grafucs and and rest gameplay. Just buy it.

    Flaws not everything is perfect I didn’t like how I played as Abby for like about 12 hours I didn’t like how joel dies wish he could of stayed longer the end of the Abby Ellie fight could of ended in a Ellie killing Abby but wat ever the pacing is a problem but I was used to it as I played alien isolation and that game took forever like this game to finish oh And the first Abby and Ellie fight at the theatre I didn’t like I didn’t really want to hurt Ellie at all but I just had to go thought with it gameplay is 10/10 one funny thing about the gameplay is wen I killed an enemy and there screams are still there even tho I killed them the graphics omg is the best on the ps4 can’t wait to se it on the ps5 and for the ps4 touchpad well uh the guitar is probably the best use of that since the ps4 came out    … Expand

    The last of us part 2 continues from where the last of us left off, the people rating this low have obviously not played the first one. It is a great game so far (have only gotten halfway) and I have not been disappointed, just wish they brought back multiplayer. The thing that happens at the end of the prologue didn't bother me and I thought it was a great way to start of the game. However *SPOILERS* playing as Abby for almost 10 hours really brought the game down in my opinion. I understand trying to make her more compelling and I'm glad they tried and I liked the parallel with Joel on the first game but her section has very little to do with Ellies. I was expecting to see my actions as Ellie in a new light as Abby and when, for example I didn't go to the hospital again as Abby I was really confused. It also lasts way to long, 5-6 hours would have been better.

    That being said while it might not reach the greatness of the first I still think about 70 percent of it is a 10/10 story , with the rest being a 6 or something.    … Expand

    The game is fantastic at least for the first 3/4 of the game. The game had everything graphics, combat and a great story however the ending to the story was not as satisfying as I hoped it to be. However, I would still recommend purchasing the game as it is still a very good game and is still my favorite game of the year even though I didn't like the end of the story.

    I have not completed the game yet. I started playing it yesterday and played from about 5PM till about 3AM I had planned on stopping at midnight but I lost track of time. I then played again today for another 5 hours so far. I stopped to write this review and then I'm going back to the game.
    I don't understand the hate for this game from the review bombers. Especially since most of them seem to have posted it without really even playing the game.
    So far I think the story is amazing. I love the game play and I love the way the game flows. It is like a good book that is hard to put down.
    I was put off by the aiming mechanics at first but I think it was done intentionally. You aren't supposed to be a 1 man killing machine that can auto lock onto everything you see and you do unlock skills later on that improve your aiming speed so that you get a feeling of improvement while also actually improving just because you start to become more accustomed to the controls.
    I haven't completed the game yet so I can't say how I feel about the ending but I can say that I am having a lot of fun playing this game right now and really enjoying the story and the visuals and to me that is what makes a game good.
    I don't really care about whether or not this game is a political statement or some LGBTQ propaganda that some people are claiming it to be. (I don't believe that it is either)
    I think the characters are well written and it does a great job of continuing from where the DLC of TLOU part 1 ended.
    Do yourself a favor and ignore all of the zero reviews and try the game for yourself.    … Expand

Ambientazioni stratosferiche e gameplay che migliora in tutto e per tutto quello del primo capitolo. Il lavoro di scrittura della storia e dei dialoghi è magistrale, un'opera immensa, piena di caratterizzazione dei personaggi, e intrecci narrativi. Forse l'unica pecca del gioco è essersi concetrato troppo sul trasmettere un determinato tipo di messaggio, cedendo il fianco ad un ritmo di narrazione un po troppo altalenante, e alcune scelte del proseguimento della storia non proprio esaltanti. In definitiva un must have per tutti quelli che hanno amato il primo capitolo, ma che potrebbe stupire anche chi si approccia al franchise per la prima volta. Ps.     Dog released a bigger, richer, longer and darker adventure, but its surprising story plays wickedly with the fans hopes, and question the very nature of roles, and what humanity should stand for. If only more AAA games could choose for such strong choices despite the consequences, the media would surely be more interesting

There are so many aspects that go into a game, and the story is but a fraction of what the user experiences. It is almost always impossible for a game to truly deserve a 0. From Gameplay to Music to Graphics to Story, and everything else in between, there are so many facets a reviewer needs to consider.

    The numerical review standard that has been set is inherently flawed, and a simple solution would be to limit reviews to people who have actually purchased (and to a further extend, played for a couple hours) the game. Have the review be split into the core parts that define a game, such as those I mentioned before, including but not limited to; story, gameplay, ui, music, graphics, etc.    … Expand

    Ein wahres Meisterwerke mit unglaublich viel Liebe zum Detail wahrlich ein würdiger zweiter Teil! Auch wenn die Story ihre (sehr) kleine schwächen hat überschatten die Stärken diese um längen! Danke Naughty Dog für dieses großartige Erlebnis voller Emotionen. Meiner Meinung nach einfach eines der besten Spiele der letzten Jahre!

Plus the ability to alter game play for players with different disabilities so it’s inclusive for all players it top notch! Best $60 I’ve ever spent! I’ve been playing for 20+ hours straight and don’t wanna stop
