    I have no problem with the graphics, gameplay its amazing. But the story is so bad I couldn't get into it I honestly had to grind just to finish it. I stayed away from leaks so I was so shocked the whole game like disbelief how long and boring like a bad fan fiction. How they treated ellie & joel I don't count it as cannon.

    As a great fan of the 1st TLoU game I was dramatically frustrated with characterless plot full of cliché (The walking Dead, GoT etc.), wanton acts of aggression (irrational even for TLoU universe) and for unforgivable and irremissible betrayal of fans' expectations and feelings.
    I feel shattered and devastated.
    As for me, TLoU is over after beloved character's execution!!!     There is a scene inside the game where Ellie give a memorable speech about the internal strength and resiliance she has. This spoke to me. I come from a family of polish refugees. I then later found out the game wont let you shoot anything semetic related. This is a disgusting method and subtracts from her previous statement.

    Played all the way through with my roommate and it was pretty awful. Just terrible story, characters, and extremely boring. The ending was complete garbage. Pushes a political point of view and that right there had us cringing most of the way. I just want to have fun in my games and not have a bunch of ideology shoved down my throat. 1/10 and that’s an honest review. We beat it in just under 26 hours because toward the middle we were just rushing and trying to get through this thing because we were super bored. Sad to see such an awesome franchise get **** on by terrible writers and Neil D. It's hard to even put into words how disappointing it is. I wanted to like it so much. I constantly watched all the trailers for month's, year's. I was in shock and confusion over what happens in the first act and it just get's progressively worse as it goes on. The best parts of The Last of Us are the little happy, heart warming moments, looking at the capital building at sun rise, the car ride to Pittsburgh, Ellie's jokes, Henry and Joel talking about Harley's, the moment's from left Behind, the Halloween shop, brick throwing contest, the merry-go-round, the arcade, playing Jak X, playing the turning, the water gun fight dancing on the display case, Riley and Ellie's Kiss, and the most important of all of them the giraffe scene. There are none of those moment's in this game. Everything in this game is miserable, uninteresting, messy, and boring. The very few good moment's are immediately halted. The visuals were not that impressive, I think Uncharted 4 looked a million times better. The Gameplay felt sluggish and not responsive, and probably one of the biggest let downs is that the soundtrack sucked, It felt so generic and boring. It felt like they were trying to recapture the music of the first game but it just sucked. The story was horrible both from what actually happens in the game and also from a writing and storytelling perspective. This may be hard to believe but I played the whole game in one go. It took me 23 hours to finish. I did not sleep because I knew I wouldn't be able to. It is so miserable that I wanted to get to the end to hopefully get some sort of closure and a tiny bit of happiness but nope. I get these flash Images of the ending in my head and it makes want to throw up, thats how bad it is. Weather it was intentional or not, I don't care. I really really really wanted to love this game. I love everything that The Last of Us and Naughty Dog represented, but this was spirit killing. Ellie has been my hero for seven years, she would always give me hope. but in this game, she let me down so much, everyone let me down. The Last of Us will always have a special place in my heart, but as far as I am concerned, this game does not exist. For me The Last of Us Ends with Ellie saying okay.… Expand

This video game pales in comparison to the first iteration and I advise against anyone wasting their money and especially time on this dumpster fire. Decisions like Joel's death, the introduction and focus on a brand new character (Abby) with very little backstory and depth and the many obvious politically influenced implementations all result into what might be my least favourite game of ALL TIME...and i have some very low standards.

The gameplay is decent it has some interesting stuff yet it doesn’t feel like you are exploring and tends to get boring in a point, the story overall is just bad, the way they killed joel was simply infamy, taking out such a legendary character in a dirty way, they didn’t make any justice for the character, also abby which is one of the playable characters is completely un relatable like you don’t even know why you should play with it, the lgbtiq thing is okay however it feels a little forced but mostly because of the needs of the company to let everyone know how inclusive they are even though no one gives a F about it, but it doesn’t affect negatively the story, however its not a big deal though the real problem its the main plot and the way they told that story and how they ended it. The ending its just an insult, and literally its like spitting in every single thing that the franchise did good with the original story, its just outrageous. I don’t recommend you buying this game at all, don't waste your money and time on this, its not worth it better save up that money for college ps5 xbox series x or other games but not this trash.… Expand

    Beautiful scenery I'll give you that and a great soundtrack. Loved like 2 of the new characters. Story otherwise was........not good. I think it could have been a bit better if they had focused on what made the first game so great.

    I am a huge fan of the Last of Us original game, however the story in this game is very poor and the characters are strange and inconsistent. Visuals are amazing but the core of the game, which is the story, is a weak and uninspiring effort with a sub par ending. I paid for it and I regret it.

So as a person who has actually played the game I wanted to give my own take. And that is , is this game shouldn’t exist....period.

    *I pre-ordered and got the game early*

    So where do I begin.

    I think it is purely insulting to say the least that you have Joel in a lot of the advertisements leading up to the game but you use him for what seems to be 30-40 minutes. Yes you heard me right. A character you spent hours even days playing in the first game , is killed off within the first two hours of the game. To put that into context , within the first four hours of the game I had played with Ellie’s guitar more than Joel. Let’s not mention the fact that Joel is killed off in the most “Weak” Way possible. A character who single handedly took down buildings of dozens of men in the previous game. Is mortality wounded within 5 seconds Without a chance to fight back ... A character who deserved a death like Arthur Morgan or John Marston is killed within five minutes. Joel was a bad guy at times in the last of us 1.
    He chose Ellie over a cure but that doesn’t mean you go off and kill him so quickly....brutally and without any dignity. CHRIST you know it’s bad if the main creator of the game Neil Druckmann is one of the bad guys and SPITS on Joel saying “Burn in Hell pendejo”

    His death seems even more unjustified when you play as a younger Ellie in flashbacks and you see him actually putting in effort , actually acting like a father figure. But no He is killed off so brutally and almost synonymously , his death was like long time fans of the game where also getting hit in the head by a golf club by the creators.

    From this point on the game gets almost immediately ...depressing? ....like yes I wanted to go and kill Joel’s killers but at the same time ...Ellie wasn’t acting the same, she was a lot more aggressive and rightfully so and she didn’t even seem remotely similar to the girl I met or the girl I see in the flashbacks.

    I played the game for a few more hours until the ending itself was spoiled for me. Normally it wouldn’t but after I heard what Ellie does I REFUSE to play the rest of the game for now. It left me with such a sour taste when I watched the end fight scene.

    The scene itself looks boring.. it’s just two of them in a lake going in circles.
    Abby ends up biting Ellie’s fingers off resulting in her not being able to play the guitar again I believe ? You know that feature that was put I so we could bond and remember Joel ...gone.
    And then Ellie let’s her go and cries in a lake ...by herself. It’s a depressing and unjustified ending to a sequel we didn’t want or need. I could go on and on for why this game totally sucks , people bring up Joel’s death and the sex scene
    The scene itself didn’t bother me when I watched it , but I believe the character who is f**king Abby is the creator of the game ? If so , did he Mocap himself doing that with the actress ?
    That’s just wrong on so many cases. Bet he created that scene purposely haha

    Now why am I not giving this game a completely Negative score even though it deserves it , well because .the game is good looking , at points it looked like concept art , the really highly detailed stuff. . The world itself is just amazing , an upgrade from the first one but it sucks to that because the could have done so so so much more with it but they just don’t. And that’s it , I was gonna write more about this game but just like the thing in question at the start I had a lot of passion but near the end I just got bored and gave up because , it’s all been done and said before. The gameplay was just the same and there's nothing really innovative in this game. Only some great evolutions in combat, i would say. The gun fight is a bit clunky for me. And i found several bugs in my 25 hours of playing, which is really annoying.

    And this game's selling point is THE STORY... IT'S BY FAR THE WORST STORY I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN GAMING HISTORY. It's like a big middle finger to the fans of the first game! If you messed up your story in a story-driven game, the entire game will be ruined, no matter how good the gameplay and graphic is. And it's just your basic fan-fiction level of writing. The ending is very unfulfilling and terrible. Fails so hard because Neil really trying too hard to make this game different than the first game.

    And there's no likeable character here. Almost every character in this game is weak! Joel being unaware, Ellie portrayed as a cruel girl overtime, Tommy being inconsistent, Lev's back-story being unnecessary and so much more. Jesse might be the only character that i could say, decent. Lack of logic in decision making, Character's inconsistencies, forced agenda, weak build-up in their storytelling really burden this entire game.

    This review is only based on the first couple of hours of the game as I have stopped playning and likely will not continue. Like everyone else I have been looking forward to this game for at long time as i completely loved the first one. The Last of us 1 is proberly the best game i have ever played and it is not likely to be topped. Leading up to the release of part 2 I have avoided spoilers to the best of my ability and though I heard rumors of a lacking story and charcters i dismissed them and wanted to try the game witha open mind. At first i was so excited to be back in the world with charcters i missed and the stunning world naughty dog have built. But all my excitement quickly faded and i was left with nothing but grief and despair when Joel died in the starting moments of the game. Why oh why did you make that choice Naughty dog? Up untill i saw the tombstone i was still hoping that he somehow pulled through, hoping for a coma or anything that would save him but alas when the tombstone appeared all hope faded. I was left empty and with no purpose to continue. I played till i got inside Seattle but had no enjoyment or want to continue the story, I have now learned the ending of the story and now i have even less desire to finish the game. This game should have been so good even if you just did more like the first one maybe not a 10/10 but certently not a 3,6. Rest in peace Joel.    … Expand

    The characters felt so different that the characters I thought I knew, and I thought I loved, but turns out they are not who I thought they were after-all. The story is too dark and full of plot holes, I wanted to stop playing several times because I didn't want to continue, I didn't like what was happening. Naughty Dog made this into a game it didn’t need to be. It’s not the game fans were expecting, or one that fans wanted.

    I really wanted to love this game, but now I wish I had read the spoilers, I would have lowered my expectations and entered with a lot of caution. I feel my love for Naughty Dog and the Last of Us franchise has gone from Hero to near Zero.

    I hope they create a Last of Us 3, but pretend that this game never happened.

How can I be having such a bad time and really not enjoying the game, when the critics who loved playing this and gave it such great phrase? How can there be such a disconnect between review and consumer...

For me, TLOU has so much emotional value, it has been such an intense part of my life for years. It managed to get me to care about characters that had very little screen time or dialogue. How this sequel managed to not only lose all of that, but got me to feel either dislike or nothing at all, is something I couldn't explain.

    Very flat, repetitive dialogue. Ellie has no resemblance of who she was, or who she used to be. She is not the snarky, smart-ass we grew to love in the first game, and even though she has changed, I feel that part of her would never truly go away. The most emotion she even emits is during the dreaded scene. I feel like I don't know who this is. This isn't Ellie. You can call her that and claim that it's her, but that's not her.

    As an LGBT person I feel used. The context of Joel's death was "if only Ellie hadn't been having sex with Dina, Joel may still be alive". That rubs me the wrong way. How dare you. You can sit there and tell me that the only people who dislike this game are homophobes, but I've seen what you've done. Absolutely unacceptable.

    As a trans person, I feel utterly disrespected. Trans villains are fine & dandy, but the villain you have crafted we are given no reason to empathize or sympathize with them, understand their motives until AFTER they have killed an already well-established, beloved, well rounded character. We spend the game playing the person we now hate, being forced to relate to her /now/.

    Terrible.
    Doing this in the first few hours was one of the most risky decisions possible, and it is one that I will keep in mind as what NOT to do when writing stories in the future. You bank off of our trauma and call it progressive. Call us wrong for not enjoying what you have force fed down our throats.

    I really did at one point believe that Neil Druckmann meant what he said, that TLOU was about the story of Joel and Ellie. They were a unit and you broke them up. For what? What happened? I don't even want to know anymore. I'm tired of everything I love being **** with. Lesson learned! Never get emotionally attached to anything because the creators will make you feel like a horrible person for doing so.

    I was excited to see Ellie in a same-sex relationship, but now it only leaves a sad, bitter taste in my mouth. You want people to hate your game? You don't want to have fun? Fine. I don't have to acknowledge the existence of this game anymore than I have, because it honestly doesn't deserve it.

    You want representation? Hire LGBT/POC/Black staff. Listen to their voices. Don't ever do anything like this. No amount of good graphics or improved game mechanics or accessibility options, as good as they may be, will ever cover this up or somehow make it less hurtful or harmful. What a terrible time to release a game such as this during Pride month.

    You killed my fictional father and spat on his face and ended not only his life, but any kind of **** that I was going to give about this series.

It is a horrible story that is standing on the foundation of its predecessor, believing that it has the strength to stand on its own two feet. I mean how can you kill hundreds of people just to let the killer of your best friend go????? Why did she suddenly grow a conscious? Especially for the person who has caused you so much pain? You killed hundreds already? Smh it doesn’t make sense. Teach Drunkman a lesson, don’t buy this game. It truly is a slap in the face, and contains too much symbolism as to how they see the fate of America with their agenda pushing. I left tv to escape this crap, now it’s infiltrated video games.… Expand

I have no problem with Ellie being lesbian (OBVIOUSLY - it was established in the first game and i enjoyed the dlc) but Naughty dog clearly has an agenda... there are bigots, a weird cult that dont like trans people and other than that adds nothing to the story (apparently 30+ years into a tragic apocalypse people are still obsessed with gender and sexuality) The male characters are useless, killed, crippled or pushed aside.
    overall: 1/10 its a sequel to a heavily story based game ( which could have easily worked as an interactive movie but shoehorns in boring, repetitive combat and awful platforming ) and this game completely **** on the characters and themes of the first for a preachy revenge plot that dosent even END! Dont buy if you even appreciated the first Game!    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
