This game had amazing potential but truly fumbled the bag. Terrible story writing, RIP JOEL, RIP JESSE, RIP TOMMY. THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE AND THEY DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE LIKE THEY DID.     As a player of the first one, I was expecting at least a nice experience from the lore. But even that they destroyed it. The game is filled with bugs and cutscenes so there isnt much gameplay. Since I didnt see the leaks and the trailers shown mostly gameplay I'm deeply disapointed

The gameplay didn't really improve that much and the mechanics of some things were awful. The graphics and the musical score is the only thing that stands tall at the end of the day. And last but not least important, replayability. This game has zero replayability and there's no reason that you would want to play this game again. 0/10 would not play again. NEVER.… Expand

    The first game had such a touching story and actually good gameplay. Getting the sequel seemed like such an obvious thing to do! but after Joel gets killed so quickly I started to have my doubts. I caved and looked at one of the streamers who played the game early and just saw him running through all encounters without a **** care for the enemies around him. THE **** STORY! the play up this massive revenge plot for avenging joels death. then magically after Ellie is bleeding out and is drowning the one who killed Joel. Ellie just goes, "naw" and lets them go. Naughty dog has had such an amazing track record as a company with their games. The uncharted series had an amazing indianna jones style of story that never seemed to get worse with each installment. So how did they manage to **** up this badly?… Expand

    Borrowed it, and Im glad I did. Im not sure who wrote this, but its so far from the first game that I can't believe its a sequel.
    The visuals are stunning, the combat and environment is engaging and interesting.
    But the story, Jesus **** christ how bad it is. What a shame.

    The script is pure garbage, gameplay is mediocre at best, visuals are great. They completely ruined the whole experience. And, yes, the first part was a pure masterpiece.

    I wish all these mass media ratings could refund my purchase of this game since they helped push me to preorder. I hated this story. I loved the first game but this sequel is complete garbage. I can’t recall hating elements of the story and character actions in any other game as much as in this one. Feel bad even trying to resell it to someone online.

The limitations of this game is very apparent mechanics wise and story wise it just doesn't make any sense. It pointlessly incites violence for the sake of it, then adds in feminist sjw agendas to it probably influenced by anita Sarkeesian.     This game made me absolutely furious. The ending of this game renders the rest of it pointless. The game terribly attempts to picture the villain as the victim to create sympathy. You will do things that you don't want to as one character and you will not do things you want to do as the other character. Do not waste your money on this. Not just any man, but the one that kills Joel, the main character from the first game. It feels like they copied Walking Dead here. The worst part of all is the gay sex scene. I actually bought this game with my hard saving money and it was my first pre-purchase actually and I should have watched the spoilers before buying it... This game is so bad dude... Graphics looks fine, music is meh (the first one was 100% better) and characters worse than meh actually... Well now let's get to the **** story. It's an absolute **** 1/10. Its the worst dude... First Joel died and I cried my eyes out cause he was my favourite character from TLOU series and now he gets beaten by a woman that looks like a man and doesn't have **** and then later in the game she has sex and we see her flat boobs was beaten by a **** GOLF STICK!?!? Nah man this ****s wrong dude... Halfway through the game, you kill her friends as Ellie and then that **** Abby finds her and kills Jesse? **** that. Then you had to play as that **** longer than Ellie! (It took me much longer playing as that **** than Ellie). And I will not even talk about the ending. This game made me hate Naughty dog, the company I love and enjoy, make me hate Ellie (Cause of the ending) and let's not forget who wrote this bull****! Neil Druckmann...     Gameplay is almost identical to Last of Us 1. The only new mechanic is the use of a rope every once in a while, not a game changer. The story is awful. So many holes in the plot. Another failed liberal agenda.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (TLSS) Graphics can not make up for an absolute failure in basic storytelling, especially coming from a company that is known for putting out amazing narratives. The gameplay has been improved upon and expanded, but still feels outdated.

    (TLS) This game's story seems to try to separate itself from the original, and in doing so, destroys the only thing that made this series special to begin with. While the original had a compact cast of side characters with their own backstories, agendas, and personalities, virtually none of your companions in part 2 have anything interesting or sympathetic about them, and there are so many that it is too difficult to become invested in any one. For example, Dina, Ellie's love interest, is not fleshed out in the slightest, and is as about as engaging as a brick wall outside of her quips (much like other sides chars). The only character I can say I personally cared about was Lev.

    The plot is the main reason as to why the player-character connection is similarly botched with the new protagonist. Introduction of character is key to how we perceive them for the rest of the game. We all know how Abby is introduced, and how the subsequent backwards development of her is mostly a failure. Anything we see of her now is tainted by what she did to Ellie and Joel because we did not know anything about her prior.

    On top of that, there is no meaningful theme or message in this story, despite the emotion it might evoke. Emotion is a given when seeing beloved characters tortured and abused. The Last of Us subtly and naturally develops its message through Ellie and Joel's relationship, and by showing how the world around them affects that relationship, we are grounded in it. Both they and the world are believable.

    Part 2 simply beats you over the head with violence, as if we don't already know that brutal murder is a terrible thing. I cannot see what else the game was trying to say. Humans are bad and do bad things. Humanity makes the same mistakes regardless of the situation they are put in. Again, we know. You cannot show violence and leave it unexamined by any of the characters like meaning will appear out of thin air. Take Ellie's grief, for example. She thinks about Joel often, and his death is the most plausible step forward for her development and the end of his arc. We see her sorrow and suffering, but to what end? We barely know how she feels about it, aside from the fact that it was a horrible experience for her.

    This could have been a beautiful story that actually explores the meaning of revenge and what it does to a person. However, this was ruined from the get go. Abby got her moment of catharsis in Joel's death in the first two hours of the game. In over twenty hours and given two chances, Ellie got nothing like that, and in the end was left with quite literally nothing. The idea that was supposed to be pushed here was torn in two by this duality - is revenge good or bad, justified or not? Who deserves to die for their mistakes and who doesn't?

    This is not "a story that needed to be told." Violence and revenge is a story that has been told a hundred times, both in the real world and in art, and when given the chance to offer a new perspective, whoever the hell wrote this game squandered it.

    All of this is my opinion and what I experienced, and I respect anyone who was able to find a 10/10 in this absolute disaster.    … Expand

    Let me be as clear as possible, this may be the worst sequel to a video game iv ever played. The characters, terrible. The story, even worse. The only good quality this game poses is its graphics, I play on the oldest model of PS4 and it looks awesome. Other than that, bad game.

    Great graphics but that is all this game has got going for it. Blatant woke gender politics agenda coupled with horrible narrative technique and just a plain bad story. Everything that I loved in the first installment was crushed and canceled in this one. Also too many long cinematic non-gameplay scenes. Totally unenjoyable.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first TLOU was nearly a perfect game, on my top 3 of all time. TLOU2 however is probably the worst game I have ever played. Who would have thought that such a tragic story would make people like the game.

    Joel died so early, so all the flashback after that felt dry.
    Story forced Ellie to not get revenge for Joel's death.
    Ellie lost her fingers, so she lost the only bond left with Joel (ability to play guitar).
    Ellie ended up being in bad terms with Tommy.
    Dina ended up leaving Ellie.
    In the end Ellie ended up alone.

    Who thought all these negative events nonstop would make a good game. A good story is suppose to take us on an emotional roller coaster ride. When the game ended I felt empty and dissatisfied, the more I sat there and thought about it the more I felt angry. I really wanted to like this game, but it turned out to be trash.    … Expand

The game quickly follows the journey of Ellie, and also Abby as you quickly find Joel is removed from the game in the most distasteful way possible and feels like a stab to the stomach for most fans. As you continue the journey the game becomes more and more female orientated and and instead of focusing the Ellies anger over joels death, it turns into a lesbian love story. It has lost the essence of what the first game had and slowly becomes more and more unsatisfying to play. The last of us ISN'T the Last Of Us without both Joel And Ellie.. LOU2 has made me push naughty dog out of the love box and into the trash. I will not be buying anything naughty dog again. Thank you Halley and Niell for destroying what the last of us meant to us and disrespectfully rubbing it in our faces, you should be ashamed of yourselves..     Sadly overhyped with a v.poor story. The graphics are nice but as an open world fan who recently played the ND collection they can't make up for a poor story in a story driven game. Also felt like the games advertising was very misleading - not quite a bait & switch but not far off

    As soon as content is added or removed to any media device, in this case, a game, to appease a certain demographic, that piece of media fails. The community wants good gameplay and goof story above all else. Forcing “certain things” down our throats in a way that’s so obvious you’re just trying to send a message is a sure fire way to kill your fan base.

    Perdoe-me, roteirista! Eu não aprovei a estória do jogo. Comecei com The Last of Us em 2013 e me surpreendi com tudo que o jogo e estória abrange. A expectativa era muito grande para a sequência mas não foi superada! Tentei assistir mais de duas vezes para dar a chance dessa estória me convencer mas infelizmente não foi possível.

    i just finish the game the game play and graphics is superb no question about it but the story line is a trash to many loopholes . fyi its ok for me if Joel will leave the series actually i'm kinda expecting that in about an hour playing it then this happen why the hell .. they live in post apocalyptic world why would they even trust those people . and with the plot that you will kill so many people to exact revenge then in the end that you suddenly stop...the **** you already killed to many people for that lol the story plot of this is like the season 8 of GOT....     Joel gets his head bashed in with golf club in the first hour. That's like killing off Jennifer anistons Rachel in friends season 2 and then replace her with her killer. Like you just don't do that. Graphics are great. Story is terrible and depressing.

    You wish to have at least a couple of good scenes(Fights too) with joel but no he is just gone right away. Mindfck Number 1! You start the game by petting a dog and then you have to cut the dogs guts to get past a section at first quarter (yes you can still go stealth and not kill them but come on, no one can do that at first playing). Your horse (shimmer) just f* explodes. Mindfck Number 2!

    Imagine getting over these things in couple of scenes. Just as you are focusing again and halfway trough you are doing good. Suddenly you are playing as the villain characther (Not to mention seeing her flashbacks without knowing her makes it reaaly hard to understand how she got to joel at first place.) Before you get time to just understand the situation comes 2 random kids. Abby doesnt kill them and helps them thats ok( which i think the forest part and the whole med search part was just time filler and totally unnecesary). But why would you then start to fight with both sides??? (With both scars and wolwes, in scar village scenes stealth was optional but she kills them rather then like, knock them out)

    And after all that you come face to face with ellie in a COMBAT, like wtf is happening. After the fight Abby just lets ellie live, hmmm. Fast forwarding they live in a farmhouse with her girlfriend-baby (btw that baby can talk????!?!?) and ellie has no idea about abbys past and her dad. And still wants revenge on her. Just to not kill her but to save her ...    … Expand

    Loved the first, but this sequel contradicts almost every good aspect the prequel had. It's a game meant to be played for the story, clearly. Yet it does not help when the story turns out to be absolute drivel.
    It only exists to promote a woke narrative, let's not kid ourselves.

I find it just as hypocritical as the game's ending, for people to say: "The user score is made up of people who haven't even played the game". However, have nothing to say about the 95 Metascore of critics who only played the first 12 hours. They haven't really played as Abby, and have not even gotten to review the end. (Also, it is possible for them to have been influenced by Sony or ND).

    Anyways, remember, most people are not disappointed of the fact that Joel dies, more so than how he dies and then having to play as that character that kills him, with NO character development whatsoever! Had an expansion come out where we played as Abby, or had the first 12 hours you play as Abby and THEN she kills Joel, maybe (and that's a far stretch). What Joel did was bad, I get that. But are we going to sit here and justify everything Abby does?

    Also, for those who are saying that the only reason for someone to dislike this game is because they are NOT open-minded to LGBT+, I invite you to search The Last of Us: Left Behind on Metacritic. Go ahead, and check the user score. This DLC is actually where we find out that Ellie is queer. The grand majority of gamers enjoyed this DLC. No one has a problem with gay main characters. Stop that self-pity excuse to be exonerated from weak characters writing. Every good storyteller know "The Hero's Journey". This game is too pretentious to even acknowledge a hero exists.

    I don't need to play a game, to review everything that has been spoiled and revealed. I have played MANY outstanding games that were spoiled for me, and still enjoyed them. Why? Because they followed the most basic sketch to a good story: characters, trials and tribulations, mentors, "the bad-guy", a quest, and a resolution. It is clear for anyone who has read the reviews: Ellie let's Abby go. So she murders dozens upon dozens of people, and then has a realization that murder won't solve anything.

    TRUE, but if you are thinking with this logic, then neither will you (the only presumed person alive to be immune to this fungus), walking away in sadness. In this case, and I know this will be controversial, have Ellie come to terms with what she must do, and give herself up, so that she can finish what they started in the first game. It will be a controversial ending, however, it will make chicken salad out of the chicken crap you gave us there at the end.

    Feel free to buy and play the game if you desire. But remember this is a $60+ USD game that might not be accepted for refund or trade-in. And a lot of the people telling you to buy the game and play for yourself know this. It's marketing.

    Anyways, those are my two cents. Which is about the only thing I would pay for this game.    … Expand

    To their credit it was released bug-free and finished, thats why it didnt get a '0/10', other than that nothing positive to say. I lost interest pretty quickly, lucky I didn't pay for this one. I learned to trust leaks and rumors, won't happen in the future.

    This rating is my last interaction with this title, and I'm on to something hopefully better not hard, considering.

The gameplay is just a run of the mill 3rd person shooter with stealth elements, it gets boring fast and you have to do it for like 20+ hours, and the story is all over the place, from killing off a beloved character of the previous series in the first 2 hours of the game, to forcing you to play as the character that killed the beloved character, to there being no payoff for the game's protagonist in the end. Just a **** story. Shame on Naughty Dog...… Expand

    Its like the developer really doesn't understand what made the first game great and so compelling. What made the first game great is the relationship with Joel and Ellie, that all gets thrown out the window in part 2. Just go play the first game and you'll have a much better experience.

    As a huge fan of the first, not just for the gameplay but mostly the amazing story. This was a terrible let down in terms of story. Graphically the game is great, gameplay is mostly the same with some improvements but my main selling point of the game was story and it failed to deliver on that part.

    The game is needles, it punishes exploring and let’s you have no thinking power. Everything is found on Pieces of paper In arms reach of where it is needed. The game is one giant fetch quest with obvious plot walls that give no choice. It is good graphically but with the budget you would expect that. Honestly Save your money.

The damn game makes you play HALF OF IT as the body builder chick Abby after she beat Joel. Like who wants to even play as her??? Then we have to fight Ellie and beat the crap out of her. Ugh. Idk why they show her backstory, to make you feel sympathy for her? Definitely no sympathy from me. Joel didn’t torture her father he killed him fast and to protect Ellie from dying. In my opinion the storyline is trash, and the sex scenes are not needed. The ending is stupid nobody can hold their breath for that long. But part 2 thorough break my heart, I have not ideal why your company can let your Screenwriter to destroyed other people's efforts, whole game even your reliance and relationship with your fans.     Playstation needs to offer refunds for this game, this is hands down one of the worst AAA games I have bought. Not only is the gameplay and mechanics crap, but in the first hour almost every character that we fell in love with and appreciated from TLOU1 got ruined. The story writing is bland and about as 2020 as it gets also.
