    Give an 1 just for graphics too. Story... if we have a good story, almost nothing else matter too much. They destroyed everything building in The Last of Us 1. The plot was there, the path to the gold was there and they destroyed. Congratulations Naughty Dog, congratulations for the mess. 70% of the original employers leave the company and the game - dismissed?. That’s the result.

    storytelling in this one reminds me of the 8th season of GAme OF thrones.
    Addy's point of view is dragged soo much I constantly found myself trying to rush it through.
    I think it's not worts 79.99 CAD before tax.

    The game works good and looks good, but the story and dialog is so dumb and infuriating, I had no issues with the lesbian stuff or the transsexual but i would still recommend to just stick to the first game, and pretend this doesn't exist.

    I cant believe i payed full price for this, the first game was amazing but this is a complete failure.
    This has to be the wokest agenda based game ive ever seen and makes me concerned for games in the future.
    Naughty dog games would usually be a day 1 buy for me but now i will think twice, bitterly disappointed.

    The ending was awful and the zombies are now walking dead zombies instead of TLoU zombies. Id give it a higher rating for the graphics, but any game can have good graphics. A game with bad graphics could easily be a 10, but the game mechanics need to be there, which aren't with this game.

    This game is like you're playing Wolfenstein, you kill all the nazis and then get face to face to Adolf Hitler, but then decides you don't want to kill him anymore and the game ends with Blazkowicz and Hitler as friends, this is The Last of Us 2.

    We already knew it wasn't going to be good, it was horrendous. When Neil Druckamnn decides to start TLoU2 by destroying in the first hours the whole story of TLoU1...
    This is almost as bad as Game of Thrones S08, The Hobbit trilogy and the last Jedi.
    Poor Joel... He deserved better.
    This is probably the worst PS4 exclusive of this generation.

The graphics, level desingn, difficulty settings and sound are excellent of course, but that doesn't make the game worth it at all. The influence that Anita Sarkeesian has had over Neil Druckman and the studio has ruined their reputation and cannot be forgiven.     Dreadful plot to follow on from an amazing first chapter of ‘The Last of Us’. Rating a score of 3 naturally as the only good the game withholds, are the flashback moments we spend with Ellie and Joel, (which is not only what everyone wanted to see more of in this new chapter, but also what made the first chapter so great).

    6 hours into this trash of a story. Already feeling disgusted. The game looks amazing and gameplay is brilliant. Giving 1 star for that. Else what they have done to the story is despicable. People like Neil should not be allowed so much power to destroy amazing characters like this. What a shame.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 comes across as a fanfic made by someone who hated the previous last of us characters, tries to feed off the greatness of the first game while destroying, disrespecting and brutalizing it's characters at us fan's expense.

    The gameplay itself, gameplay mechanics and AI is great as expected from N.D but the story is for the lack of words **** I know in the modern society most men are **** and a hindrance to women who's destined to achieve greatness.

    Joel gets **** by a golf club at the hands of Abby (The Maa'am, second of her name) and the way the whole ordeal goes down is way to convenient by the last of us standards, Abby just happens to be on the quest of vengeance against Joel and guess what! she just ran into him and Tommy, and the untrusting and weary man we know Joel and Tommy to be just spits out their name to her (a stranger) twice... that's just unacceptable character change right there. well anyway, it ends with Joel getting **** as a character and as a man.

    Ellie: Ellie was our surrogate daughter whom we loved and nurtured into being a true badass under Joel's wing.
    They made her a vengeful and depressed girl who can't stop herself from doing one despicable brutal act after another no matter how much it breaks her down, the path of revenge has made her blind and empty inside. Ellie was quirky and full of life in the first game, she was worthy enough in our eyes as a fan to see humanity be robbed of the cure it might have today.
    This is not the Ellie we know, this person wearing Ellie's suit isn't worth it. And when the game ends she just lets Abby go, everything she had done or suffered until that point is rendered meaningless, I guess avenging Joel didn't meant enough for her to kill the great Abby (The Maa'am, second of her name) character who had massacred her father figure and her close friends. That's not Ellie.. **** that!

    When it comes to character destruction, this game is proficient at it. Joel no longer fits with the character developed from the first game and it ends in the worst way possible, a scene I will happily call a lazy rip off from The Walking Dead, which suits TLOU2’s story telling with how lazy and unoriginal it is. Abby is essentially Negan, her golf club is a replacement for Negan bat and Joel is Glenn, all the game really lacked was popping out an eyeball and delirious rambling. Then in the end the audience is denied any kind of absolution since like Negan, Abby gets off Scott free after getting all she wanted and as a fan my favourite characters are utterly destroyed.

    And while an original idea is impossible, the goal is to try and tell one in a different way that feels original, but this games story didn’t even seem to bother trying at all. A tired and worn out ‘lesson’ about revenge where you are left totally unsatisfied.

    The graphics seem to be the only ‘redeeming’ feature, it’s pretty, but I’m not a child swayed by ‘ooh shiny’. The gameplay is pretty meh and the whole reason for playing the game was the story, which is arguably the most important part of this genre, the gameplay being simply the means to the ends which just wasn’t worth it.

    I wouldn’t recommend buying, the game isn’t worth another play through and it’s also been falsely advertised, the trailers were manipulative and the reviews were also manipulated. The way this whole advertising and review strategy was implemented should be illegal, it’s pretty close to fraud in my opinion and frankly all these ‘official’ reviewers have zero legs to stand on when it comes to customer trust.    … Expand

I play games primarily for the story and what they did to Joel in particular made me want to stop playing. I had to put down the controller for an hour just to calm down. There was also the gratuitous sex scene. Why? Story is clearly trying to say revenge is "bad" so makes Ellie go on a long ass trek taking revenge only to stop at the one person she should have definitely killed. What the **** ND? Besides the story the graphics are amazing but the combat is janky and awkward with the dodge messing up more times than it's useful also the jump button could have been left out with minimal change to the game. Another thing is what is with the Neil Druckman self insert? Would have been a zero if it wasn't for the graphics. Thanks ND for making me waste my money. Never again.… Expand

    I can tolerate games that play out more like interactive movies, with long, drawn out animations for the sole purpose of "immersion". I myself like to play more narrative driven games when I'm feeling up to it. But when the story comes at the cost of everything else, you better make sure that your plot is worthy of being at the front and center of a 20 hours experience.

    And in this case it is not. This isn't an understatement. The story of this game and it's character are some of the most putrid pieces of "entertainment" that I've laid my eyes upon this year. And the reason becomes quickly apparent as the game progresses.

    This isn't a story. There is no vision behind this game. It exists as a political statement and serves no purpose beyond that.

    Coming from someone who has enjoyed most of Naughty Dog's works for the past decade and a half, I never thought I'd see the day where they'd destroy the legacy of one of their most popular IP so quickly.

Me parece absurdo y sin sentido la muerte del protagonista del juego anterior, además de ser banal y porno violento ni aunque sea pura coincidencia es improbable como joel se encuentra con abby, independientemente si abby es un transexual o un unicornio es imposible simpatizar con tan asqueroso personaje muy mal trabajado y mal escrito, no tiene ni siquiera un desarrollo y lo peor es que tenemos que jugar con este personaje lo cual te hace odiar aún más la historia, los diálogos de dina y ellie son aburridos y ridículos, en medio de un Apocalipsis una misión de venganza los diálogos parecen novelas, y lo pero o lo más wtf lo más sin sentido y descabellado, luego de matar a joel dejan vivos a tommy y ellie como cabos suelto en que cabeza cabe eso! No tiene el más mínimo sentido a parte el juego se vuelve tedioso y da pereza terminarlo, para que me dan escopetas y rifles si me puedo cargar a los zombies con □ y L1 todo el juego por la parte grafica 10/10, la historia y el guión 0/10 no lo recomiendo a los fans que de verdad aman la anterior entrega, aunque tenga a toda la inclusividad del mundo es imposible simpatizar con los personajes es absurdo y un total despropósito, muy mal juego.… Expand

    Words cannot express how I feel about this game. The first Last of Us brought great memories, great character development, the game was a personification of 10/10. 7 years later... The game had so much potential, 7 years, 7 years, we waited, I member 2 years ago when the reveal trailer came out, me and the boys got soooo hyped, not to mention the constant delays. The only good thing to come from this dumpster fire is that people are finally realising access media (IGN, Metacritic etc.) don't actually review games based on it's aspects, but are getting reviewed based on the agenda it pushing in order to keep that ethical halo. Including to the beloved heroes from the previous part, who the hell deserved to leave at least with a little respect. Or did Joel become a kind of sacrificial lamb personifying the hated patriarchy and traditional values?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was deeply saddened by the direction the team took this franchise. Whats worse is that they seem to have lost touch with their fan base. The first act of the game starts off the best. It is as close to the original, in feel, as the game gets. The cutscenes that show Joel and Ellie’s relationship growth, as a father and daughter, hits a stride reminiscent of the tone shown in part one. I feel these are well done and should have been the focus of the game. This quickly devolves as the game hits its second and third acts. You are forced to play as characters you have no history with and I would go as far to say hate as much as Ellie. There is a quote Druckmann used during development that got alot of attention. The quote goes “We don’t use fun to describe games” or something along those lines. This shows in the game. The focus has shifted from the original to a complex mess of running around and watered down story telling. Ellie’s arc, sadly, feels cheap. She makes decisions that don’t make sense. She is robbed of the revenge she is seeking through out the game. I understand they want to show change, and that Ellie, at this point understands killing and revenge leads no where. But the way this is implemented is poor to the point of juvenile writing. She decides at the end to let Abby live. The player has no chooce in this and makes the nihilistic point of the game feel like a 20-30 hour slog for absolutely no reason. You play far too long as Abby. Abby’s story arc feels rushed and does the exact opposite of what it tries. The team wants us to sympathize and humanize with Abby. This backfires, almost immediatly, we are forced to play as Abby for 10-15 hours...far too long. Abby is a very flat character with an arc that feels cringy and cheap. There is a part in her story where you play as her, and you literally beat the hell out of Ellie and Dina. This part disgusted me. It went two far, and really played out like a grown man beating the **** out of two women. This was disgusting and uncalled for. Additionally there is a sex scene between Abby and Owen in the game. This was also very disturbing. I didnt feel it was needed for character growth, or to further the story. The way its implemented is not sweet or caring but forceful and carnal. Like something out of a prison rape scene. Again - too far naughty dog....too far. You could cut Abby out completely and the story would be the same. Maybe even better.
    Then in the final segment you return to Play as Ellie. At this point I felt confused and disheartened as the game I thought I was buying was for me to play as Joel and Ellie. Ellie failed in killing Abby, during round one. She now gets word from Tommy to Abby’s location, and sets out for round two?
    The point of this, as I understood it, was to show how Ellie loses everything hunting for revenge. However, I am left wondering why, at this point Ellie is trying to go after Abby again. Ellie has already given up the hunt, but on a whim and some loose info, decides to pick back up the crusade. This is dumb.
    Ellie finds Abby after killing a faction, that was only introduced at this point in the game, so we could have bad guys to kill. Ellie finds Abby who has been caught by this faction, fights her and decides to let her go. At this point Ellie has killed 3 of the people who helped kill Joel and let the actual killer go? This made no sense. Why would Ellie kill so many un-named people to get there, just to let Abby go? Why does Ellie act so traumatized by killing? She did it throughout the first game, throughout the second game, with no issue. No remorse, no great self conflict. But now, the three people are so hard to kill? Again dumb story and exposition.
    I want the game where I get to play as Tommy. He is a effing rockstar in this game. He gets most the bad guys, he is a bad ass sniper and I want the dlc where I see his story and maybe some revenge at the very end where he snipes Abby.
    The best character that got development in this game was Joel. He would have been a perfect way to show diversity had he been the only segment pointing to it. He shouldn’t have been killed in such a disrespectful way. Give me the game that mirrors the first 5 mins where you play as Joel. Give me a remake of the first Last of us with this games graphical improvements. Give me that, not this hot turd.
    The things I liked about the game were the graphics..
    The gameplay has shown little imporvement from the first game. The jump mechanic is poorly implemented. This was suprising since the team makes uncharted.
    In closing. This game misses the mark, doesnt improve on the original and wastes your time with characters you hardly care about. Abby’s story is disgusting, deranged, and irrelevant. Do not buy! Pretend it doesnt exist, play the first last of us, play the remasterd and pretend Naughty Dog didnt hype the last 7 years of your life for a huge let down.    … Expand

    The games looks pretty good. Animations, models, textures, everything - wonderful. The game play is just boring. It's nothing new since the first part. The story is boring. Exceptionally boring.
    I hate this game because i loved the first part. But if Naughty Dog thinks that they can just put lots of money and zero creativity to make game good - its not true.

    Is not absolutely possible to compare with the first one....it's a shame even because in 2020 could was one of the best for ps4 and the homosexuality is useless for push a game in the shop.....we need a different type of idea in a game

Basically you are forced to play as the killer of Joel and not only that but in a large portion of the game you even have to fight Ellie...     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
