    The game sucks, the plot sucks, it's like a bad fanfic version of The Last of Us. I would have expected this from a teenage video game writing course and been pleasantly surprised at the themes they "tried" to deal with. From a big budget studio.... whoa. I honestly can't believe that shareholders can look at this "product" and think "Oh, that's a good investiture of my money. Lets do it again!"

    Incredible game, better than the first (which was my favourite game on PS3 and the 1st I bought on PS4) in every way!

    I'm ok with people liking the game, but real fans of the story can't stand by a positive review. It is not possible. I have accepted the message of the game. On the other hand, from a studio that strives for masterful story-telling, this game is a spiteful nightmarish slap in the face to fans. Story with PLOTHOLES and atrocious character development.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are simply amazing. The gameplay...wasn't much different from the previous one, which was good but it was for a PS3 game. They could evolve it a little bit more. That being said I was satisfied with it plus it had a few "chase" parts that were simply amazing. Now storywise...that was the big issue. The game had it's heartwarming scenes that we were expecting but it was a little bit lacking from the get go. On the first one you saw the characters develop and slowly care for one another. With this one you have mainly a revenge story. You also had more than a few subplots that in my opinion were not needed. The relationship with Dina could be more explored and developed I believe if they didn't spend so much time on the "bbg" of the game Abby. I really didn't get the same emotions for her relationship with Owen as I got from Ellie and Dina. And frankly how could I? All I knew about her was that she mercilessly tortured and killed one of my favorite characters. When I fought Ellie while I was controlling Abby I kept losing because I didn't want to kill Ellie. We could understand why she did what she did but they shouldn't try so hard to make us like her. The fact that we undestand why she did it doesn't mean we can forgive or even forget it an then go on ahead and root for her. As for the whole LGBTQ agenda that many are saying. You already have Ellie (and since you decided to give her a love interest, Dina) which is nice. They are fleshed out charactera that their sexual preferences doesn't dictate their whole character. But when you meet Lev (who personally I liked as a character way more than I did Abby) it feels a bit forced. His whole story arc ia because he is (biologically speaking) a woman and as a result he suffers for it. And finally the end...well I really felt like I played for nothing. Abby got to live with Lev (most likely they went to the Fireflies) and Ellie got what? She lost Joel, she lost Dina and JJ. She lost her ability to play the guitar and express her emotions that way. So...why did I played through that story? Really unsatisfying ending. Tommy got injured for life, he ruined his marriage and he didn't get revenge for his brother. And Joel died. So everyone we came to love and wanted to see again after so many years got screwed over pretty bad. In every sense and in every way. While the "villains" of the story got on top. Sure Abby lost her love Owen but she can rebuilt her life and find someone else. Lev lost his sister but he got another "sister" in Abby and both found a new life with each other and propably with the Fireflies. I know someone said that she was bit but she really didn't show it. Anyone who is bitten looks way worse and is suffering. Even if she was bitten that makes it an even worse end because she leaves with Lev...so what? She'll turn on the boat and eat him? Let's say that they HAD managed to make me like Abby. With such an ending I would be furious! Amyway, I know that a point this game and this story was trying to make was that as with life here as well things are not just black and white. Ellie actually did exactly what Abby did. But I really didn't need to see characters I loved this much suffer for no reason. There was no catharsis. Shame for such a great story to end up like that. My score is 6.4 (there are no decimals so 6) mainly because of the technical aspects of the game and for the really emotional flashbacks Ellie was having (both good memories and bad).… Expand

    The last of us part 2 is one of the best emotional game of this generation. It has been a pleasure to play it with a ps4 standard with great details and great story. I hope this story will continue on the future and full sure it deserve goty for this year. 10/10

    I really loved the gameplay, characters and especially the story. It was simply perfect to me, but my 0 goes for the crunch the naughty dog company. U can't treat like that to your employers just because u have no time, i hope that with a bad rating naughty could finally see that sometimes is worth to realease the game later just to make it better for the players and FOR THE EMPLOYS

Shock value for the sake of shock value is meaningless, they changed way too many key plot points and designs for this to even be considered the same game with the same characters. The only scene I felt like I was playing The Last of Us was in the Museum flashback. They also destroyed the best PlayStation exclusive and I could see this actively damaging the sales for the PS5. If you were expecting another Last of Us game with Joel and Ellie actually behaving like themselves instead of morphing into completely different people, this is flat out not it.

    The graphics in certain parts and the feel of tension from the engagements with enemies are the only reasons I’m giving this a 3 instead of a 0.    … Expand

This is a bad game isn't because Joel got killed, or the way the storyline was organised. The point here is that all the characters are acting like someone else and Neil Druckmann just manipulated them to bring whatever story himself wanted in order to force all the players to accept his own values and to satisfy his own ego. All the social justice **** he put into this game just doesn't fit in the World of TLOU where all that matters is survival. The first game was a master piece because being putted in the same situation I would take the same choices just like Joel and Ellie, not like some Dolls of SJW. Also as Asian i don't feel funny when Ellie said she doesn't like Jesse just because he is a Asian, you won't joke around with black peoples like that. 7 years of waiting and all the hard works of the talented developers in Naughty Dog, all wasted because of Neil Druckmann.… Expand

    Really disliked the first game’s story, saw that a lot of fans of it hated the second so I decided to give it a try. Still sucks.
    Boring, filled with uninteresting and unlikable characters like the first one. Too long.
    Gameplay works so I migh have given it a 1 but it wasn’t fun. So 0.

    This game lacks of SOUL.
    All the characters, even Ellie, are empty. You don’t feel bad for any of them. It seems like the Ellie of Pt1 is not the same person in the Pt2. Even Alice the dog had more soul than any of them. You’re getting to a point where a character’s death is worthless.
    Hated this game and I don’t even wanna talk about this (stupid?) end.

    I do really loved the first game and trully was a fan of it, it makes me really sad to see how they have destroyed ALL you loved from the first game without any payoff, and I trully waited until the end of my gameplay to see if going through all of it was worth it... be warned... it wasn't..

    Graphics: 8/10 taking Metro Exodus/Shadow of the Tomb Rider/RDR2 as 10's (PC versions ofc)    I do really loved the first game and trully was a fan of it, it makes me really sad to see how they have destroyed ALL you loved from the first game without any payoff, and I trully waited until the end of my gameplay to see if going through all of it was worth it... be warned... it wasn't..

    Game play itself is alright. start to drag really hard toward the half end but acting and graphic save the day. HOWEVER, i just couldn't deal with all the moronic decisions characters make and narratives the dev tried to pull just to get to the end goal. It's sad, i was really looking forward to it :(

    Tlou 2 was mediocre at best. Gameplay was same fun gameplay tlou 1 had. Story was mediocre revenge story we've all seen before. Nothing new there. Abby sucked ass. Pure trash character. Absolutely worst part of the game was that naughty dog forced me to play that steroid **** I never expected this to be as good as tlou1 but come on, this game was just bad compared to the first.

    Negative two stars for the story and characters. But the graphics are very good. So my final review is zero.

My biggest issue with this game is that people likes it anyway just because of the story being so fake deep and it hurts my soul every time a person praises it as being a masterpiece when it's so plain and lacking, but it hurts me even more knowing that it's probably going to win goty 2020.
    Besides all of that, the deaths feel meaningless, joel could have had a way better death scene, the ending is pointless and the relationship between Ellie and Dina felt off to me idk.
    I find the visuals, music, gameplay and inclusivity a great redeeming quality but not enough to make me like this game.    … Expand

    Bought the game without seeing any trailers or anything, all based on the first game.

    While I consider myself open minded and can go down with almost anything; at the end of the game I found myself a worst person than I was at the beginning.

    The craftsmanship of the game is beyond spectacular but the story is senseless over the top drama found on womens books.

Get you to go from one place to another without believing the motives of the characters to finally give you a supposed vital moral that ruins and does not fit with all of the above

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the outrage from spoiler leaks, I came into this game with lowered expectations. And I’ll say, there’s a lot to like about this game. Graphics are beautiful, combat is fun, and the enemy AI feels extremely realistic. But for me, a story driven game must deliver a great story, and can’t lean on those other factors to be great. The reason the first game was so successful is because the story was so well written. I have replayed the first game at least 15 times because it was just that good. But this games story is poorly paced and poorly written, that if there’s one part where you ever say to yourself “that character wouldn’t do that” you’re sucked out the story and it’s nearly impossible to get back in. Unfortunately for me, I thought there were a lot of character decisions that didn’t match the characters at all, and a lot of those decisions seemed to be obviously only made to advance the plot. So I was sucked out of this game early on and could never really get back into it. It’s sad to see a game that had so much potential and delivered on so many areas be torn down by sloppy writing. If the game wasn’t story based, it would be about an 8 of 10 for me. But because the story is the driving factor to play this game, I have to drop score to a 4 because I don’t feel any urge to ever replay this game again.… Expand

    The history...the history is the weak point, all characters in the game are important, even more if we have here a secuel. I think Joel it's just as important as Ellie, I feel that The Last Of Us 2 is a history and that's it, history...without feelings.    … Expand

    I really wanted to like this game, gave it every chance, but it's simply just not good enough.

    Unsatisfying ending. Playing the game will make you feel totally bleak and sad and depressed the whole time. Do not wish for a replay. Do not wish to buy Part III. That is definite.

    Last of Us set its self apart from other games because of its story, and well written developed characters as such my expectations on a sequel was high.Its sad to say they failed on that, last of us 2 gave us characters who felt different from how they were established from the previous game. Good gameplay , great graphics, but the story felt flat and unbelievable.

    Assim como foi o primeiro TLoU, este é o melhor jogo da sua geração. Os mais belos gráficos que já vi em um jogo! A IA dos inimigos foi muito bem trabalhada além de uma história ousada e imprevisível, que te faz sentir na pele as emoções dos personagens. É daqueles jogos que ao terminar, você fica um bom tempo digerindo ele.

I still find it hard to believe how naughty dog managed to create such a horrible sequel to the game of the decade LOU2 is THE WORST game of 2020 and the worst ever created by naughty dog. The gameplay is very good but the fact there is more walking around and exploring than fighting made the game a bit boring. Having to play 10 HOURS with Abby was just a stupid way of forcing the players to like her and feel bad for her past (which is something I don’t care about one bit) . The story is very disappointing from joel’s death in the first few hours of the game to the horrible ending we got this game is ridiculously BAD. The only thing I liked was the variety of weapons and style of killing between Abby and Ellie. The only way naughty dog can fix this piece of trash game is by releasing last of us 3 but actually with more focus to the MAIN CHARACTER WHICH IS ELLIE.… Expand

    Such a boring, disappointing game. Plot is trash, gameplay is fine I guess, but naughty dog really did this series a disservice.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have tried my absolute best to like this game. But despite excellent gameplay and graphics, the story just doesn’t work. I spent 30 plus hours lying to myself that by the end, it would all make sense. And everything would come together. However all I was left with was a confused mess, that tries far to hard to be shocking and edgy. It’s all over the place with different characters and time periods. There’s a complete lack of momentum. Old characters are handled badly. And new characters are wasted, due to how they are introduced and set up. To add icing onto the cake... the entire story is kind of pointless. Nothing is resolved, and everyone has just had the worst time. The story is a real shame. The graphics and gameplay are solid. It’s a well made game, that had limitless potential. Unfortunately, although I appreciate naughty dog’s ambition with the plot. It just didn’t work. It’s so bad, that it spoils the game.

    I have just completed the game, and I feel exactly how I felt after watching the last Jedi. I didn’t hate it... but I kind of wish it had never happened.

    Naughty dog, A for effort, but D for outcome. Please take onboard fans criticism instead of insisting we didn’t get the game. We did... we appreciate what you tried to do. But it didn’t work. Things that would have helped the story.
    1. I have no issue with dying dying, but he should have had a better exit. Make it so that Abby refuses to help him up during an escape from the infected after learning who he is. Then being conflicted with her decision afterwards. And so the revenge part makes sense. Have Ellie be there. Have Abby then push Ellie down. And Joel dies saving Ellie one last time. Even have it so Ellie has to kill Joel before he turns. This would add so much more to the end of the first game. Ellie loses Joel to an infection she was supposed to cure. If Ellie needs more of a reason to revenge on Abby. Have Abby also release infected into Jackson, to aid her escape. Dooming hundreds.
    2. Abby had potential. But you needed to make us bond with her before she killed Joel. Personally I liked her gameplay. Had she been in a different game unrelated from this mess of a plot. I would have given her a chance. 3. Have a decent twist. Make it so Abby is also immune. Her dad knew this all along... but couldn’t go through with it. So started using/finding other people with forms of immunity, so he didn’t have to kill her. Have Abby find this out during her segment (so her play through has a point, and doesn’t drag). With her eventually realising that her father and Joel weren’t so different. 4. Have her and Ellie have more screen time out of beating the hell out of each other. So they can understand each other’s side of the story. This way, it actually makes sense why one lets the other go. They can even bond over their immunity. This game is not awful. But it’s certainly not good. And it has the potential to be fantastic with some revision to the story. This can all be done whilst keeping the basic bones of the story. And it would drive home the intended message, far better than the over the top nonsense it is now.    … Expand

No clue. Aside from them there are a few likable characters, like Jesse, Dina and the dog. However the story telling is just bad, terrible, the whole game happens for nothing, the purpose of the game isnt acjieved and not by your choice, but the writters, what was the point of playing it then? Aside from that they really didnt cared ripping off Mulan, those who have played know what I mean by that. The game is just lacking, it makes you make some **** choices, and then makes you feel bad about it, just because. I dont know who told Neil Druckman thats how you write a good story, but it certainely wasnt Amy Hennig, Craig Houston, Kojima, María e Krawczyk,, etc..… Expand

    Fantastic game with a brilliant story following on from the first part of the game. Didn't expect the story to be so long and certain areas to be so open to explore. For anyone that has PlayStation and do enjoy single player games, The Last of Us Part 2 is highly recommended.

A great story with a great ending. Many complain that the ending was pointless because you don’t get your revenge, but the first game is about bringing Ellie to the fireflies to get a cure, but that never happens? People just want to hate on the game so much just because it was something completely different than what naughty dog usually does, and most of the actual fans of the first game loved this one as well… Expand

    A beautifully written game with deep and touching story. I did watch my daughter playing it for hours. I knew all the spoilers, when I started myself. Yet I still ended up in tears on the end. Yes, I was one of those, who stopped pressing square on the end, as every single press was breaking my heart into pieces.
    Thank you Naughty Dog. You have created a true art!

    Naughty Dog has delivered their staple stellar storytelling yet again, in the best and most harrowing way possible. I cried, I laughed, I got mad, and I felt pain with Ellie and all the other charac ters. With such dark themes, I expect it to be a divisive one, in a good way. It will inspire philosophical debate and conversation on how fragile humanity truly is.

    The technical side is absolute perfection. Not a single glitch was noticed, it ran on a stable 30fps, and it just looks oh so gorgeous. It’s amazing what they did with a 7 year old piece of hardware. Up there with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Uncharted 4 as the best looking games ever, maybe even having a slight, yet noticeable, edge.

    This is a strong contender for GOTY, and a strong early contender for Game of The Decade.    … Expand

    A masterpiece. You might think you know with all the leaks but you actually don’t. Even better than the first one, Naughty Dogs did a wonderful job. I have so much to say but I don’t have the words to express how I feel about this game. Life-changing, periodt.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
