Also I was very angry through the playtrough and disappointed about that what happened... BUT that's exactly that what the game makes so GREAT!     I love Tlou 1 and Part 2 continues this story sensibly. Part 2 was a tough experience for me. It wasn't always fun, but no game has left me so thoughtful. The change of perspective is a strong idea.

    Hard experience, great game.

    A game that truly makes you get emotionally torn..Gameplay is satisfying and story is very controversial but can’t be denied it’s grasp on you to see it all through...truly a great game that not all will love but those who see it for what it’s done know..this isn’t a game you’ll forget anytime soon.

    The great looks and good controlling dosen't do anything for me, since this is basically an interactive movie, the story is everything. I feel cheated, naughty dog knew what the fans wanted and expected, yet they choose to another route. I'm just sad I gave them my money and my time.

    Naughty Dog did it again with the beautiful graphics, amazing storytelling, and the gameplay mechanics is just spectacular!! there are some issues with the jump mechanics though, I found it quite useless with the jump feature, it just doesn't feel natural. Everything except that is wonderful!!

    This is the best game I played from Horizon Zero Dawn. Dont pay attention to all those homophobic simple people complaining. Love the story, felt so many emotions, characters are not stereotipes at all, graphics are crazy, and im willing to play again.
    Buy it even if u are homophobic, everyone needs the chance to evolve, so play it anyway.

    Not to be unfair, I can say that the graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is great (it's a delight to play).

    But this game is based on story. And the story is a disaster.

    A lot of people complain about Joel's death, but I see that as a good start for this part II, except for the fact that the survivor of the previous hardships plays the role of a muggle and dies like an idiot. No fan could stand that.

    The rest of the story would be good, if it weren't for the unbearable dose of social justice. No one cares if Ellie is a lesbian or if there are transsexuals in the game, but when the whole story is used to instill in the public’s head that men suck and Christians are horrible, it’s clear that politics was the most important and the fun was set aside. And we don't have fun.

    You see, there are no surviving men. Just a crippled Tommy and Abby (who is officially not a transsexual, but...). The main villains (everyone is villain, there are no heroes) are worshippers of woman (a kind of she-Jesus. Maybe another transexual?). And so on ...

    Then in the end what should have been the spectacular sequence of one of my favorite games takes this huge ZERO    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not perfect, but despite pacing flaws, the game being a little overlong and some other nitpicks. It's a fantastic follow up both in game play design and story, expanding upon previously established characters brilliantly and introduces new compelling characters, both minor and major that make this game world feel so much more fleshed out and alive. Regarding the game play, if you've played the first game, you'll fit right back in and if you haven't (which you should), it's an over the shoulder first person shooter reminiscent of the RE2 remake. The game however also has a focus on stealth and scavenging and all three of these core components of game play work with each other brilliantly, creating a fluid combat system that keeps every fight engaging. With the addition of long grass and the ability to go prone creating a lot more room to approach encounters in different ways. With being stealthy not feeling tedious like most games fail do but instead feeling fun and satisfying. Another fantastic addition is the subtle personalities of enemies. While fighting people they will yell the names of fallen comrades once they are shot or scream in pain after an arm or leg has been shot, this makes the world feel so much more real. Switching the enemies from just mindless bots to actual people with personalities and feeling and this improves the game immensely, this being a trait in major villains as well as just casual enemies. Finally regarding design, the graphics and sound design are phenomenal. This game may be the best looking game out there with certain environments, especially ones in nature looking photo realistic. The sound design is also great with ambient sounds and the tense combat soundtrack really adding to the games overall emotion. The rest of this review will concern spoilers. So if you haven't played this game please do and keep an open mind. There are many negative reviews but I implore that you play it for yourself.

    SPOILERS
    This game has some major events in the story that haven't been received well by the vast majority of the community, the three parts I'll be talking about are Joel's death, playing as Abby and the ending. First we have Joel's death, personally I think this death was handled perfectly. Though many argue that Joel would've seen the ambush coming, due to him seeing one coming in the first game, the context surrounding these scenes are completely different. In the first game Joel knows about the ambush because he himself says that he had done that exact same tactic of ambush before. The game actually dedicates a huge character moment in the first game where he says how he used to perform that ambush on other people. In the scenario in this game, the characters in the lodge (excluding Abby who gives no reason to make her distrustful at this point to Joel, Tommy and the player) are not aware who Joel is. It's only when he says his name that there is any suspicion but he is shot in the leg and disarmed before he even has a chance to defend himself. As well as that, the game makes it clear through the dialogue that going to the lodge is the only choice, with the storm being too strong to go anywhere else, and with the infected pursuing them in such high numbers, they can't go anywhere else. Calling this death a betrayal of Joel's character is just flat out wrong. It's fine if you're upset about this, I was too, but don't judge the game poorly for something it didn't do. Secondly, the intention of segments where you play as Abby have been misjudged entirely. The point of these sections is not to make her likeable or sympathetic, they're to make her an actual person. The point of these scenes is to show that senseless killing Joel did in that hospital actually mattered, that killing a doctor simply trying to find a cure had consequences and that Joel's choice to save Ellie actually had repercussions. Naughty Dog aren't stupid, they know you aren't going to like Abby after she killed Joel, they aren't trying to, they're trying to show that villains in this story more complex than just good and bad, like in the real world. Which as a game that is meant to be realistic makes sense. Finally, the ending, people were mad that Ellie doesn't get to kill Abby because according to those who hate this ending, without Abby's death, Joel's death was pointless. While also stating that Ellie after killing all those soldiers should have no problem killing Abby. People has misinterpreted the ending entirely. hat moment when Ellie spares Abby, she’s thinking of how Joel said that he does not regret his actions that lead to his death, and that he would always save Ellie over himself. She let’s Abby go because she knows that Joel would be happy regardless of whether he lived or died, or whether Ellie killed Abby or not because Ellie getting out of that hospital and being able to live her life is all that mattered to him. It’s a beautiful ending if you stop and think about it.    … Expand

    I have literally no idea why anyone would hate this game. The story is FINE, maybe even better than Tlou 1.Gameplay is much better than the prevoius one and so are the graphics (obviously) plus the physics used is top notch (especially with the ropes swinging). I'm 100% sure most of the haters havent even played the game or are xbox/pc players getting angry because they dont get ro play this.

I experienced no bugs or glitches when playing. however it is a little frustrating that our complaints for the game is shrugged off as homophobic incels. the main issue here is the story line. it is also a little disingenuous when Neil Druckman stated that they made the game to purposely not be enjoyable. this game is a huge disappointment and should have never been made.

After viewing this game. IT's terrible; the only characters you even give a **** about is Joel and Tommy. The original story to the first Last of Us game was amazing. Because it was written by Amy Henning. I wanted another great story written by Amy Henning. Neil the cuck. Has ruined a once-great game series. The revenge story with Abby doesn't make any sense at all. The character is completely bland; plain, unrelatable and you don't care for her either. Her supposedly redemption arc she's supposed to have. Have is complete **** She basically goes around murdering people. Just because of what group they belong too. Joel was an amazing character who was broken after losing his daughter, Sarah. In the first game; who forms a fatherly bond with young Ellie. While trying to survive against the odds. he was the hero of the last game. For saving Ellies' life. After the fireflies basically trying to justify killing her and all the others also immune. saying their lives have less value in this dystopian world in order to save everyone else. Abby doesn't feel any remorse or regret for murdering people. Ellie was completely out of character and a **** to Joel over saving her life. Neil dumbed down the character's Joel and Tommy to try and make Abby look better in comparison, all the other characters are straight trash. Yeah, the visuals are great and the gameplay mechanic is still the same, with just a little something added here and there. Even, that's not enough to save this dumpster fire of a game. I hate that Naughty dog git rid of Amy Henning and let that cuck Nail ruin the story she created. I'm done with Naughty dog. False advertising that we could play as Joel and Ellie in the game. a revenge plot with no substance and completely pointless since the character. Wh0 was supposed to get her revenge, didn't get it. I'm glad I did not waste my money on this trash ass game. I watched and borrowed a copy. The characters Vara and Levi are trash as well. Poorly written and underdeveloped characters You don't care about. Neil pushing his personal politics and agenda in this game. This is a huge reason why this story is trash. As well as the whole game. Emotionless relationships between terrible characters. Meanless and Ellie ha no chemistry what so ever with Dina. Shaking my head.     I do not understand, not the satisfaction of most people, personally my opinion after passing the game) I just let out a stingy tear at the end and got into the whole moral thing. You go from the very beginning with one awareness of revenge. But in the end you understand whether you need it now . Killing so many people, losing all their relatives . The result for me is a decent game!!!

I didn’t want to believe the leaks since it seemed so unbelievable and I gave Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn’t go down such a bad path. I was legit shocked to see everything was true. I don’t mind Joel dying. In the right light, a main character death can immortalize them (spike from cowboy bebop). But THIS.....it actually hurt me to watch Joel go out like that. And to make it WORSE, Neil makes me play as Abby, a person I hate now and the story fails to make me care about her or her friends. The only saving grace and the only reason this game doesn’t get a flat 0 is the graphics.… Expand

For those of you that played it all the way through and still hated it, I think you may have misinterpreted the original game and the message it was putting forward.

    Gameplay might be some of the best stealth/survival combat I’ve ever experienced. They took what worked in the first game and just perfected it. The open world segments were a wonderful addition as well.

    Graphics are by far the best we’ve seen this generation. If you told me this was a PS5 game, I’d believe you.

    An absolute unpredictable, beautiful, scary, emotional, fun masterpiece. 10/10    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II meets or exceeds all the expectations set forth by the original title. The story line may not be 100% as tight or succinct as the original, but that's because it's far more complex in its narrative structure.

    The story in general terms is about the self-destructive nature of revenge, and an exploration of how (and if) cycles of violence and misunderstanding between different people can be broken.

    You initially follow Ellie as she follows Tommy on a likely-suicidal mission to avenge Joel's death at the hands of a surviving contingent of Fireflies. One by one she murders them, but each time she does she comes back changed. This slowly begins to poison her relationships with her remaining friends.

    Halfway through the game the POV changes. You are now one of the Fireflies. At first you reject this shift in perspective, having already decided that these people were scum and worthy of death. However, slowly but surely you are forced to recognize their humanity. And those actions that you previously took as Ellie start to look less and less badass and heroic. Instead, they start to look monstrous.

    In the ending scene, Ellie has lost several of her fingers and finds that she is no longer able to play the guitar song that Joel wrote for her.

    In her quest for revenge, she had killed the one part of Joel that had truly lived on through her -- his music.

    You realize that there was no real villain. Nobody was the hero. Everyone was the villain. Everyone was simply human, and flawed, and was wounded by violence, revenge and madness.

    If that's not an appropriate theme for 2020, I don't know what is.

    The people who are complaining "I didn't get to kill Abby. WTF???" let me say this unambiguously -- you completely missed the point of the story.

    The majority of negative user reviews here complaining about the story were written within hours of the titles release before anyone could have possibly finished it.

    So, who is review-bombing this game without playing it? They generally fall into three groups:

    1. People butt-hurt over the decision to kill off the previous main character, Joel. This was an excellent decision made by the writers. Why? Joel's character arc was finished. That's why. It was thoroughly explored in the first game. Furthermore, his death is the catalyst that spurs literally all of the events of the second game into motion. Though he is dead for most of the second game, he is still a main character in it. His presence, and absence, are keenly felt throughout the entire story. All I can say to these people is I'm glad they do not have control over the game's narrative, since it would have been all the worse for it.

    2. Douchebag culture warriors upset over the presence of homosexual characters. Perhaps they forget that there were heroic homosexual characters in the first game? Who cares, really, what these people think -- these are garbage people.

    3. People who don't understand good storytelling or can't deal with moral complexity. Sorry to say this, but the issue here is that you people are stupid. If you want unambiguous morality, post-apocalyptic fiction is not for you. Maybe try a JRPG or something where the bad guy is the main character's evil twin brother who wears a red eye patch. Let me also say unambiguously -- your opinion is trash. Thank god smarter people wrote this game.

    Other than that, graphics are excellent. Story is cohesive and interesting. The characters are some of the best I've seen in a video game. Gameplay is mostly excellent. Shootouts are visceral and terrifying. Violence is gratuitous. It's as close to perfect as I've seen a game come.

    I literally sat through like an hour of credits just to make sure there wasn't more to see.

    Ignore the conservative trolls. Ignore the people who ran out to talk **** about the game as soon as Joel's death was spoiled for them without playing it.

    For God's sake, play this game.

    Given that it's breaking records for daily users right now, I'm fairly certain that the negative reviews here are from a fringe minority.    … Expand

This game is one of the best games i've ever seen. The technical part of the game is very well done, I don’t know what to complain about. Aunque muchos no lo esperen, la muerte de Joel tan temprana es lo primordial en la historia, pues al fin y al cabo el juego trata de venganza aunque todos hayamos querido que la trama sea un poco diferente, igual le queda bien que la trama sea así, solo tenemos que analizar y comprender para valorarlo mas… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
