    This game is one of the best games I've ever played. It is not a ''fun'' game but a truly grounded and brutal one. I've never felt so many emotions while experiencing a game, let alone a movie. Finished the game yesterday, started it back again today. Please don't let the people that are angry about the writing discourage you from playing.

    Can't say I would have made this game this way, but kudo to all of Naughty dogs team for putting together the game and story they wanted to tell.
    It was an emotional rollercoaster, even a tear jerker at times. I can't say that I'm not left with the desire to know more of this story, but I can say they produced again one of the most quality games I've ever played, again! Thank you    Epic!

    If 2020 couldn't get any worse. This game could of been a shining light to a dark year but manages to add to the list of this years disappointments. Game looks & feels great but it is overshadowed with a lack luster story with new characters who were fillers for slaughter in a revenge yet not revenge game.     I love some parts of the game.. but some characters and Half of the game was Terrible writen.. i hated the new characters and the story about them.. some scenes are so bad directed also.. The endding is so bad.. is not a terrible game but i understand why people hate it .. there are things that make people hate most of the game..

    It is sad that the game took this idea for the direction..

Gameplay Ok, Plot boring and it feel so forced to please the LGBT community. I don't care about character's orientation but please don't do it in a way that affects the story.     Only because of the plot I give a low rating. The graphics are good, the gameplay is good. But the plot. He spoils everything. It's like a spit in the souls of fans. How can you enjoy the game when in the very beginning they destroy what you love? The first part is forever in the heart. The second part, I hate.

    The game's writing is awful. Very poorly written characters who make bizarre decisions that no sane person would do. Forcing players to play as unlikeable characters not a good decision. Ultimately, the game has one of the worst endings I've ever seen and leaves the player upset as opposed to fulfilled. Avoid this garbage at all costs.

Sure Joel, the most beloved character in the original Last of Us, gets killed savagely in the first two hours, but that gives Ellie the motive to get revenge for his killers. Without this brutal death scene, there wouldn’t be a Last of Us Part II.

    Also, playing as Abby gives us the opportunity to play as both opposing forces to see their struggles and losses, see that Joel’s death had meaning, and potentially learn enough about the character to play her in a part 3.

    The graphics, gameplay, and story is very well crafted and I can’t wait to play it again. I really hope there’s a part 3 so we can see another master work done by Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    es una historia muy simple y me dejo mucho que desear , pero si me emociono a cada momento disfrute de los paisajes ,ecenarios y enemigos nuevos
    fue divertido hora tras hora que pase jugandolo y creo que eso es lo importante sentir diferentes emociones mientras juegas y este juego lo logra ala perfeccion.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In my opinion the game is really fun and I actually prefer part 2's gameplay to the first one. The game is extremely immersive due to the amazing sound design, graphics and music.

    Spoiler warning:
    Joels death gave ellie a reason to fight and seeing the look of anger in ellies eyes shows just how overcome with hatred she is. Ellie leaving abby at the end was good character development as it showed how she realised that violence isn't always the answer and that by killing her she would be just as bad as abby. Therfore proving that she's stronger than abby by not letting her emotions consume her and she brakes the cycle of violence that this game centers around.

    Being able to play as Abby for a long period of time was something I wasn't expecting and it worked really well. At first I thought "why would I want to keep abby alive when she's the person we're trying to kill", but by the end of it abby is an extremely fleshed out character and it makes the player see her in a different light and makes it even better to see ellie let her live as she's already taken everything she loves from her.

    In conclusion I'd give this game a solid 10, this is definitely my game of the year and cyberpunk is gonna have to pull something crazy to beat it. This is seriously close to being my favourite game of all time, probably tied with half-life 2 and uncharted 2.

    Anyway if you didn't like it thats fine, video games are an art and art is subjective. But most people leaving the reviews on this game are rating it unfairly after watching a walk-through or playing the first couple hours and thinking they've experienced enough to rate it. To fully experience this game you have to play the hole thing yourself and even if you're but hurt about joels death, trust me when I say the rest of the game redeems it. I just really hate to see a good game get destroyed by the toxic gaming community and it means it probably won't win game of the year because then everyone would be claiming they were paid by sony or something. So please, if you dont want to play this game because of all the negative reviews, just try it and you'll see that all the critics weren't lying when they said this game was a masterpiece.    … Expand

They crapped all over Joel’s character, and THEN DOESN’T EVEN LET YOU KILL THE STUPID, overdeveloped surgeon NPC characters kid that did it. Don’t know who wrote this, but they must have a set agenda as it is painstakingly obvious as well the more you play. They make you play as the villain for a stupid amount of time, and (S)he has a sex scene which made me want to vomit. A lot of the interactions are awkward as hell as well. Now that I am past the bad, here’s the good. The gameplay is beautiful,and detailed. The animations are smooth and work well almost all the time. The combat system is good, but a tad wonky sometimes, and Dina is apparently fully invisible to enemies. So yeah, that’s my review.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So the last of us 2 came out on the 19th and it is polarising. The game is both a visual masterpiece and a 14 year olds fan fiction of the first game with a massive budget .
    Starting with a few things I love
    1. Gameplay is ‘’if its not broken don’t fix it’’ as you Charlie of the channel; Penguinz (subscribe to him) said, I completely agree with that. That is pretty much what it is. Its The last of us, in terms of gameplay and its a good game mechanically speaking.
    2. Acting is amazing and the character development in like 5 of the characters is really good and believable (until something ridiculous breaks the immersion )
    3. Crafting is pretty good, not much different to the first, not much innovation, mostly aesthetics but its still good
    4. The flashbacks are the games highlights, such as Joel and Ellies flashback parts, are the absolute peak of the game. Its like a sample of what the game could have lived up to.
    5. Level design is fantastic. Lots of places to climb, escape to, and figure out what to do. The game has a great flow in combat
    6. The art in this game is slept on. It is beautiful, stunning. If you check out the concept art it is really beautiful, so im giving massive props to the artists team, phenomenal work there. It helps an otherwise drab game to feel a little nicer when its allowed to shine
    7. The accessibility options are a really innovative idea, and is filled with specific options that make the game easier for anyone from me who is pretty bad at games despite playing them all the time since I was a kid to Stevie Wonder. Options like High contrast colouring and decoulraing of the environment make the game playable for people with vision disabilities and such, color blindness, that kind of thing. I think this is a great idea and will become more and more common in games. Theres a lot of options that are pretty silly, like prone mode makes you invisible except when enemies go right up to you for some time like 5 seconds. Its not a bad option, its just really funny and I don’t know who it is catering to. Ive never had a game with built in Action Replay before but it can be used for accessibility and also for **** and giggles.c
    Some bad things
    . The writing is objectively piss poor, its like someone played the first game and then took a lot of coke, for the entire duration of the project (but maybe druckmann was just high on life, and toxic business ethics) . I went into the game optimistic, giving it a chance. As it went on I became really really annoyed by the front seat the incredibly bad story pieces take up in the game. On the back of the cover, it doesn’t say, realistic conversation simulation and some stealth gameplay mixed in. It advertised itself as a game that is like the
    First game. Its an interactive Netflix movie. And a really bad one. Netflix would not green light this. Spoilers here on out> if you liked the first game, you will feel very sad and empty playing this game . You will have paid 70 euro or bucks for a game that actively wants you to feel bad constantly. There is no breathing, the game constantly cuts nice or good moments to put you back into nihilism and preachy generic revenge storylines. It feels like the game thinks you are an absolute idiot. It is a very predictable story, and the game revolves around it. The game advertised as a Ellie and Joel revenge story (it implied Joel with be there for a good portion of the game), but its all about trying to make you like Abby and her friends. Maybe she remorrselessly (she never shows any remorse at all) tortures a man, wanting to keep it going longer, having to finish him faster by her friends. She sees Ellie screaming and begging as Joel iOS in a situation the real Joel from the first game would never risk. She does not show a single expression of feeling moral ambiguity, she does not get emotional , she’s calculated. Throughout, whether its her friends dying or someone she’s getting, she immediately continues on and never mentions them again. No screen time is given to those things because the characters don’t even matter. Its all to justify her actions at the start. It was done so badly , it is appalling. Little of the game is you playing as Ellie doing all cool stuff. If it is its a walking simulator most of the time. Other times its a visually stunning sub par stealth game with fantastic voice acting performances and god awful writing .

    2. This game is very boring for most the time you play it, snail pacing to fill up the game. You’ll find yourself wishing it would end and when it doesn’t you’re like they’re still beating this dead horse? I kept playing hoping it would stop making you just walk and talk and do really dumb puzzles constantly but most 70 Europe I spent on the game was for a conversation simulator.

Nothing wrong with it, and people providing negative attitudes towards the game with only the argument of “transgenders” & “lesbians” obviously can’t appreciate marvellous writing and game design and are not open to such a unique and perfectly built world. Most people who have complained about the game have really only said one thing “Naughty Dog is trying to force an agenda and ideology down our throat, all while attempting to make white men appear weak.” Those people are the type to think that there is a political stage to everything And must add their own views to all discussions. But if you look at the game AS A GAME, then it’s clear that the devs tried their hardest to provide the more appreciative side of the audience with an emotional masterpiece that leaves you in love with almost all the characters. The only Two problems i had with the game were, no1, Joel dying in such a shameful way (which i know had to happen in order to have a plot at all) and, no2, how extensively they tried to justify the ,bad guys’ decisions... i feel as though a simple extended cutscene would of been perfect, but alas, the devs can’t appeal to everyone and i get that Amazing game, included all the aspects of the first yet also taking a new approach, true nostalgia trip, 10/10.… Expand

    While in TLOU you get to see how Joel saved Ellie by killing a surgeon and stopped humanity’s only chance at finding a cure, in the TLOU 2, you get to know who the surgeon was, who his daughter Abby was and who his close and loved ones were – but only after you watch them kill off Joel

    The character building in this game is strong and nuanced

    You get to see Marlene and this surgeon at odds with themselves about carrying out the surgery, knowing it would cost Ellie her life, given how he’s a father himself - Abby says she would’ve given her life had it been her - and finally how Abby had her father taken away from her at the hands of Joel

    While Joel’s death at the start is jarring, it gets the player riled up enough to want to go after Abby

    Its only after this that you get to know Abby better as a person, her dad and her whole crew better and have a moment of, “Holy **** if someone did that to my dad, I wouldn’t care, I’d want to kill them too”

    Neither Ellie or Abby are objectively bad people, but an ‘eye for an eye’ world causes them both to kill off each other’s loved ones off till they’re the last people standing – while going after each other, Abby and Ellie simultaneously get to know each other and where they’re both coming from respectively The gameplay is realistic, brutal and visceral - stealth is on point, and the gunplay and melee combat is waaay better than TLOU - you have to time your dodges and hits right, and its very engaging - the seamless transitions from cinematic to gameplay are amazing

    Yeah there are lesbian characters, POCs and a sex scene in the game, but that’s just part of storytelling, the same as it would be on a Netflix show

    Like in the real world, people take digs at each other and talk and act believably This game is riddled with moments of characters making ‘bad’ decisions under pressure and a fit of rage, which is also realistic - have you never been on the spot and made a bad move because your anger couldn’t let you think straight?

    The message this game sends in a time when the world is so riddled with chaos and a thirst for vengeance is a message that resonated with me You could avenge someone, but it would never end there - someone who cared for them will always come around to get back at you - its a cycle that’ll never break unless someone decides to be the better person and ultimately forgive the other

    I came into this game luckily not knowing any leaked story bits. I thoroughly enjoyed the original and the DLC，so Ellie being gay was known. That seems to be the reoccurring review negatives. To be honest, I don't care that she is gay. How the studio came about in reinforcing that fact seems like an attention grab that did work out in that aspect, but failed hard in it feeling natural.I came into this game luckily not knowing any leaked story bits. I thoroughly enjoyed the original and the DLC，so Ellie being gay was known. That seems to be the reoccurring review negatives. To be honest, I don't care that she is gay. How the studio came about in reinforcing that fact seems like an attention grab that did work out in that aspect, but failed hard in it feeling natural. Stereotyping Ellie to be more butchy with tattoos, how she walks, and overall less likeable and rebellious. The best thing about her personality is that she still is as clueless to life and judgements as in first game. With that aside, the story, minus the one early shocker, is very bland and forgettable. No surprises, no shockers, no big reveal or twist. Literally the story you are introduced after the epilogue is it. 23 hours of slogging and surviving. I find it hard to read a lot of the reviews that said they couldn't wait to get to the next story but because it was that good. For me, I wanted more story and hoped that upcoming bit was good. Nope. Gameplay is much of the same as original, which is not bad, but the lack of introducing key new elements is sad. The survival is much more easy than the original, presenting no challenge at all on normal mode, with exception of the extremely glitchy zombies who would seem to damage you regardless of dodging. Side characters are lacking personality and depth. Overall, graphics don't seem mutch better than PS3 version, let alone the remaster. Facial expressions seem like twitchy, nervous molds. Overall, the game is bland, slow, lifeless, and honestly feels like someone made the shell of a game, and knowing it sucked, banked on Ellie's sexual orientation to save the day. Obviously critics in mainstream will all praise, not to anger anyone for speaking likely the true opinion.oh, and that huge twist people are talking about (not one at end of epilogue) is not a twist at all as it is assumed in the opening sequence.… Expand

But on the other hand, the story and the script that divide opinions and leave something to be desired, is a story that holds you to the end, a story that makes anger and the feeling of revenge enter the player, to disappoint it an empty ending. A ending that makes you think that everything you did in the game was in vain, all the losses were in vain, playing the TLoU2 campaign was in vain. What also hurt the players and fans of the game a lot was the main character, so striking, so loved, being killed in such a cowardly and very poorly told way. And still forcing you to play a good part of the game with the killer, "trying" to understand her side, but whoever played the entire first game, the game that made you admire, support Joel, failed to swallow Abby's story. But anyway, a beautiful game from this generation.… Expand

    It isn't just the story that is the problem, but the storytelling, the execution. Pacing, believability, and transitions from game-play to story were so far from the standards of the first game it is hard to believe this game was made by the same developers.

    About 20% of the reason I looked forward to this next installment in the franchise was for combat and game play. That's the only reason I gave this game a 2, rather than a 0.

The whole game was a big waste considering the end and even though playing as Abby was fun at times and yes I feel bad her father died. I still don't care for her that much. He died too early and in a way that just felt offensive. The graphics and atmosphere are incredible, the combat is good and it was satisfying killing the WLF members, but the ending to this game was god awful. It felt so disrespectful to let Abby live and have Ellie be the one suffering loss. The two characters we loved in the first game are treated so disrespectfully in this one, and the ending just made me feel so empty. I really hope that if there’s a next instalment to the series that Naughty Dog learn from this. And I hope to god we don’t play as Abby or let her survive.… Expand

Concuerdo que el final puede ser lo más decepcionante pero por todo lo demás es un muy buen juego, la muerte de Joel era necesaria para la trama y yo siento que Ellie a perdonarle la vida a Abby lo interpreta como así llegar a perdonar a Joel y estar en paz ya que en vida nunca llego a perdonarlo. El hecho también de que Ellie pierde dos dedos en su pelea final y que por ese motivo no pueda tocar la guitarra como antes deja ver que perdió lo único que le quedaba de Joel.     Until the credits rolled the game threw so many curveballs at me and went from the highest highs to the lowest lows (literally and figuratively). I think after seeing it through the two core though that are stuck we me are 01 the game is masterclass of managing your emotions and revealing information to you that retrospectively changes the meaning of the entire narrative. 02 this feels very much like Naughty Dog moved on from making game movies and instead gave us an entire television season of the Last of Us. There is just so much going on.

    I would have given this a 10/10 (good graphics, audio blablabla), but the fact that after half of the game the narrative finally clicks and goes into full swing is an amazing achievement when looking at the whole picture, but a really tough time to get through when there are just so many other games that can grab your attention away from this.    … Expand

    I'll start off by saying this game is not for the light of heart and it will challenge you against conventional storytelling. Its uncomfortable,overwhelming and challenging. Its bleak more often than not but when it wraps its truly masterful storytelling. The gameplay is top notch. The graphics are unlike anything I've seen.

Killing off one of the protagonists of the first game isn't a bad thing, but doing it in such a disrespectful way and then forcing you to play as, and try to get you to sympathize with, the person who killed him is.     It's not a perfect game but it's the best game I ever played. When story told in game/book/video can torn you apart leave you speechless and brokenhearted, when you feel joy and sadness and later you hate creators because they engage you emotionally and later when you have been vulnerable give you a blow... I never played the first game, but I heard really good things about it, and I loved what I saw of the story! Hell, when I heard this was coming out, I was debating actually getting a console to play the game, and actually buy the sequel. I enjoyed watching the first one so, so much, and my friends loved this game. But all of this is a real slap in the face. Between the ego of Neil Druckman (who has scummy, creepy male feminist written allllll over him), the misleading marketing, and the poorly thought out damage control after the leaks - this was already looking really, really bad. And when the story that was fully released ended up being worse than I ever could have imagined - just... thank God I didn’t buy this hunk of garbage! The leaks were actually a huge help for me.

    Then, when you top everything else off with a forced gay relationship for obvious pandering reasons, some seemingly anti-Christian vibes (admittedly, I don’t know tooooo much about this one, but I’ve seen glimpses of some weird commentary on religion, at least from the leaks), and other divisive subjects... well, this is just the definition of a bad modern game. And it’s a real shame considering how nice the game’s graphics and gameplay looks!

    A big gripe I have personally, is that this feels like it’s just another line in the long string of forced content in media that makes me wary whenever I see a homosexual relationship in media - and I myself am gay, and I currently have a boyfriend. And honestly, it’s flat out sad to keep seeing this - as someone who’s interested in game development and world-building, I’m not sure if I should include certain characters in my games dude to the negative reputation they’ve garnered in games and media, unless gay relationships can stop being constantly politicized and used for pandering.
    And honestly, I can’t say that I blame the people who eat upset with them - because honestly, I get annoyed by them now too nowadays, even if they’re not that preachy. And with this game in particular, the relationship seemed kind of off from the start. I understand that they made Ellie gay in the DLC for the first game, but to my knowledge, that was a bit more natural, but given Druckman’s increased involvement with that game, it was more likely than not inserted for political reasons.

    I haven’t watched their relationship as closely (because honestly, I don’t really care about their dynamic - I was invested in Joel and Ellie’s father-daughter dynamic much, much more), but my closest friend, who, to clarify is a lesbian in an active relationship, told me it was dumb as hell, and obviously inserted to preach at the audience and please the Twitter mobs. I know that a lot of people don’t focus on this issue, mainly because they don’t want to be called an “-ist” and a “-phobe,” but I don’t think it should be dismissed - and I don’t think there’s anything wrong making fun of it, or any of the other pandering!

    So, in summary, this game is a huge letdown in just about every way - heck, I don’t even really want to watch a full play through at this point, especially since I’ve seen how this ends. This game is getting the blowback it rightfully deserves, and I’m going to do my best to pretend that this entire sequel never happened, and that we just have the Last of Us - no DLC, no Part II - just a lovely, well-designed, and truly wonderful game.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
