This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Allow me to preface this review by saying, there's a lot to unpack here. First, let's address the principle game-play, and more superficially, the visual artistry and fidelity. The Last of Us Part II really takes the original recipe, when it comes to combat, navigation, and general ease/deftness of movement, and refines it into something far more palatable for the current generation. that said, it's no reinvention, there's nothing revolutionary in it's realization, but there are some added spices that make it all the more enjoyable. Namely, the ability to dodge, go prone, and jump; simple quality of life improvements that actually make a world of difference in keeping things immersive and grounded. combat feels visceral, and supremely brutal, in its affect. Though even with this nuanced approach, and however immersive the character models and their wonderfully realized range of realistic expressions, conversations, and movement might be, enemies you encounter are often painfully oblivious on any difficulty. This often stands in stark contrast to the gravity of the situations you, Ellie, and Abbie, find yourselves in as you lurk about, head on a swivel, desperate to remain undetected by deadly enemies, before you realize that they must all suffer from severe vision impairment, as merely squatting far enough away in broad daylight, in direct line of sight, renders you nigh invisible. This is not to say that there aren't brilliant, spontaneous and organic moments to be had with this game's combat system, there are, and i find that these things largely balance each other out, but there is a certain amount of accompanying clunk, as much present today as it was on PS3, with the franchise's previous installment. Now, how all of this is presented, the way it looks, sounds, and behaves; gorgeous, simply immaculate. This is truly one of the most beautiful and articulate renderings of a world you will see this generation, the same could be said of the accompanying ambient environmental sounds as well as score. There's no lack of small lovingly, and painstakingly placed detail to just stop and marvel at. i found myself just taking moments to casually walk about and appreciate what it was i was seeing and just how authentic it felt. Not a title to be missed in this regard.

Now, with regard to plot, theme, characters, and all that entails; I've read a lot of staunch opinions on this subject and can't say i agree with the vast majority of them. i won't presume to invalidate anyone else's opinion, but here are some thoughts, bearing in mind my opinion of this game's overarching story is, without a doubt, positive: our reintroduction to Joel and Ellie from the early hours of TLOU2 is the natural evolution of a relationship built upon Joel's decision from the previous game. A tremendously far reaching, and understandably, if not entirely justifiably, selfish decision to save someone he loved. A decision that Ellie ultimately discovered the truth of, shattering the trust between them. We see, and become aware, indirectly, of the weight placed upon Ellie in knowing that in some way the world and it's people may well have been doomed to suffer because of her. we see the resentment of being alienated in not being given a choice one way or another, perhaps she would have given her life if it meant a chance for a world that could recover. I'd like to think the old Ellie would have. this transformation into a darker shade of herself becomes apparent in the deftness and subtlety of storytelling and the supreme talent and quality of voice acting and motion capture. Like so many others in the world, Ellie became a person haunted by the irrevocable past. When, after Joel's death, she embarks on a quest for retribution, she is not herself, as so many have noted. but this is not some inexplicable change of character, rather the seething influence of grief. Ellie and Abby are foils of each other in this regard, and her role as a playable antagonist is not some device aimed at attempting to cajole pity or sympathy for the person or her actions, but to highlight what has always been evident: none of the central characters, not Joel, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, or Abby are "good" people, anymore than they are "bad" people. They have all done great and terrible things, to survive, to protect someone, to take control of their lives. The added perspective asks us to examine our all too common and selfish preconceived notions of what is right, wrong, or justified and to consider that perhaps there is no right answer. Everything that was lost by both Abby and Ellie by the end of their stories, all the pain visited upon them, was the direct product of their actions. That Ellie ultimately broke the cycle of aggression by sparing Abby does not rend meaning from experience. This was never a story of revenge, but an examination of the fragile and all too common human condition. This was not a perfect game, but it was truly meaningful and worthwhile.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To put things in context I want to clarify two things up-front: 1. I absolutely loved TLOUS. An amazingly amazing adventure. Fabulous characters. Easily in my top 5 of the greatest games of alm time. 2. I don't care about the LGBTQ agenda. I know it's been unnecessarily pushed in this opus, but this didn't discourage me from looking forward to playing the game. Alright, I am going to be as concise as possible. I have created an account specifically to express my opinion and my absolute disgust over what happened. When I saw the leaks a couple of months ago I couldn't believe my eyes, so I canceled my preorder and waited for a review w/ spoilers before making a decision on how I should use my $62 (taxes man).

Verdict: Neil Druckmann is a psychopath. This individual has a serious neurological/psychological problem. Not only he does my boy Joel dirty and makes my girl Ellie miserable, but his ultimate goal is to make you feel bad about everything you do. Making you feel guilty, ashamed, humiliated and desperate. For example when he forces you to kill pets, or when he makes you kill a pregnant woman (the pregnancy thing appeared three times btw), or when he makes Ellie want to play guitar with two missing fingers...this is pure degeneracy at this point. Games are supposed to make you go through a lot of emotions, including bad ones, but what Druckmann and Gross (name suits her like a glove) make you do is pure perversion. They should never touch a scenario again. Druckmann when he has full control over a script is dangerous.

If your negative review is based in any way on the mere existence of LGBT characters, f*ck off. Your opinion of the game and your worldview are worthless. With that out of the way let me get into the game. Yes Joel dies early into the game, this game doesn't give plot armor to main characters. They are mortals who can easily be ambushed and killed. I should also mention that the theme of this game was stated to be hate, and so what better to drive that point home than a "pointless death" of a lead character early on. Ellie is left reeling from witnessing the death of Joel and does the thing that I think most people could relate to on a primal level, goes for revenge. Here is where I want to address one of the main critiques of the story I personally have seen. Yes the major arch of the game is a revenge plot. That is an archetype and completely fine for a game. It even plays heavily into the common truism that "Seek revenge and you should dig two graves, one for yourself." With that being said, the sheer violence and in your face behavior of the storytelling puts this in a league of its own. The deaths in this game are brutal, the killing nondiscriminate. It is this very violence that further drives home the point being made here. Yes revenge can be deadly, but moreso it doesn't take away the trauma of loss. It is this realization that Ellie has at the end. This is why she doesn't kill Abby. This narrative decision is far bolder than simply having her kill the character, and in my opinion far more impactful. Some will see that statement and argue that all of the killing done to get to that point is made pointless for this reason. What they would fail to understand is the killing was pointless either way. Ellie successfully taking revenge would not vindicate those she lost, nor would it justify the senseless loss of human life that led to that point. Ellie, like Abby and Tommy, let hatred consume them, and that cycle of hatred caused them to lose everything. Even Lev experiences the same consequences of hatred, though it is due to his love for the one who hates him that inevitably causes him to lose everyone dear to him. That is to say that the consequences of human prejudice and hatred are cast upon both perpetrator and victim equally. The cause of the war between the WLF and Scars is left it seems purposely vague to accentuate the fact that the constant deaths on either side are casualties of hatred. I could go on and on with intricacies of how layered the narrative of this game is, but it would likely fall on deaf ears. It seems that the majority of the community doesn't appreciate this form of storytelling, and frankly we are worse off for it. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion and in my opinion this game is an absolute masterpiece. It perfectly contrasts the themes of the first game, which was the stated intention, and delivers a heart wrenching story worthy of your time and money. I would say that the main takeaway of this game is that humanity is its on greatest enemy, and society (at least this post outbreak society) is doomed to destroy itself. There is hope presented at the end of the story, almost an homage to the hope presented in the first game, as the fireflies are said to be gathering numbers again, and who knows, with time perhaps they could rebuild. I know this review has been long winded, but I feel I must add that I do not intended to imply that if you did not enjoy the themes of the game you are lesser in any way. This isn't a "rick and morty fan" type review where I feel as if the people hating on the story are simply too stupid to understand its complexities. I think people understood it quite well, but being that it stands in direct contrast with the first game they don't enjoy it as a sequel. I'm giving this game a 10/10 for the emotional journey it dragged me on over the past few days. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not a 10. But this game does not deserve the trash reviews it is getting. Half of these reviews make valid points but give scores that make no sense.

    Positives:
-one of the most beautiful games on ps4
    -gorgeous environments and animations
    -the gore is great
-fights are super fun and exhilarating -beautiful scenes and character moments throughout the game
-very emotional game, some moments made me feel the same way i felt 1st watching the red wedding. I can say that only got and this game have ever affected me so much.

    Negatives :
-the 1st game had a lot of sad moments and aspects however the beauty of joel and ellie's relationship made it all seem worth it. Last of us 2 is in need of some of these moments beacuse otherwise the game is just too sad and kinda broke me.
-while some story moments aren't what i would've envisioned or liked to see for this game I can still respect them and make sense of them. Even if I dont like them doesn't make them wrong.

Those that still hated abby at the end of the game really weren't paying attention. No one can say they didnt feel conflicted when playing as joel in the hospital during the 1st game. Playing as abby felt the same way. The entire time playing as her somehow made me somewhat care for all of the characters that were part of joel's death at the start of the game. By the end of it, i didnt want ellie to leave diana for revenge.

Overall this game took over my life for a couple of days where i could only think about playing it. I dont know how such a game could ever be a 0/10 for anyone even with its faults

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I cannot believe ND went this way, I'm sure many other reviews that given insight into why this game is bad, so I'll sum it up with a few points:

•Joel dies in the most stupidest way, and is portrayed as a dumbass, same with Tommy.

•The game forces you to play as an unlikable character that you will NOT want to play as, that killed Joel all because of "being woke".

•The rest of the time where you're not playing as the BS character, and you play as Ellie, it's either in flashbacks or a BS storyline that turns out to be totally pointless.

•The old characters either end up dying, injured or alive but stupid AF, same with all the new characters, it's like ND grabbed people that really didn't want to act there part.

•The ending is **** Ellie goes on a killing rampage where she murders hundreds of people for revenge, only to get to the person responsible for all her pain, what does she do? Let's her go. The whole entire plotline (or lack thereof) revolves around revenge, yet she doesn't get revenge.... huh?

All in all the only thing I can give them credit for is animations, sound track and visuals.

The gameplay is the same, and the story is a massive crap on what was a 7 year period to wait for what should've been a perfect game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What I do not understand about this game is the logic behind the actions of the characters. Let's take Abigail as an example. Her father was killed by Joel in the first game. Her reaction was to take revenge on Joel for murdering her father. Due to the post apocalyptic nature of the game there is no society, ergo it can be argued that what Abigail did to Joel is a logical reaction to what Joel did to her (indirectly via killing her father). The game goes on and you see the characters interact with each other in various ways. The voice acting is top notch. The visuals/gameplay are all top tier. I will not be talking about the technical aspect of the game any further since that point has been stated many times by thousands of people. My gripe is with the story and how the characters act. Let's talk about Mel first. Mel is a pregnant woman who chooses to go to the front lines during the part of the game where you control Abigail. Why? You are pregnant?????? You can physically see her huge belly. What kind of backwards thinking is this? Not only are you endangering your life and the life of your unborn child, you are risking the life of Abigail and Emanuel (and the dog too). This is not the type of game that can allow this type of logic. This is not metal gear. During this mission they get into a car crash, fire fight with the cult, and fighting the mushroom zombies. At one point in order to get through an area Abigail boosts up Mel and you see her slamming her belly onto the metal thing she is trying to climb. You can hear it. I do not understand how this works? The other, and last, thing I want to talk about is Ellie's mission to get revenge and kill Abigail. Fueled by rage Ellie goes on a crusade and proceeds to kill many people, including the pregnant Mel and her unborn child, in order to reach Abigail and end it. This is the part that i do not understand. Ellie shows mercy and tells Abigail to leave. The moment this happened all the lives Ellie took were for nothing. Their deaths meant nothing. Their deaths were as insignificant as the deaths of bugs hitting your windshield. What was the character thinking at the time? Hopped up on all that adrenaline from losing two of her fingers (which is scientifically impossible for a human to do but I digress) how can she make the choice to leave Abigail after all that. I understand that games are subjective not objective, that means what i do not necessarily like someone else will. Yet I find that there is a line somewhere that separates subjectivity from objectivity. Things like plot holes and continuity errors should be objective not subjective. I find how Ellie acts to be illogical. It is true, hatred only begets hatred. And while crude the term "Revenge Bad" is inherently true. The problem lies with how the characters decided to act on these statements. Abigail disregarded the reason that Joel killed her father and acted on her hatred. After Ellie is sparred by Abigail, she makes a conscience decision to act on her hatred and try to kill Abigail. If Ellie wanted for the cycle of hatred to end then she should have stayed with Dina at the farm. The moment she went out of her way to find Abigail, killing anyone and anything that stands in her way, she should have had the resolve to see what she was doing through. Imagine john wick killing all those henchmen and goons and after reaching the guy that killed his dog he just spares him. That feels off doesn't it? Imagine Kratos reaching Zeus, after all the killing that he did, and he just leaves. This is what happened in the last of us part 2, Ellie leaves Abigail free. This is not the same girl from the first game. It is disappointing. if you enjoyed the game then I am glad that you had fun. I just wish that I did too. Expand

As a fan of The Last of Us, I personally really enjoyed the direction the writers went with this game. I honestly think it's ridiculous how much negativity this game is receiving. I especially think this game is receiving unfair negative reviews from honestly, homophobes.

The gameplay is genuinely superb. There wasn't a moment where I felt fully captivated in each encounter and had a variety of options to approach. The combat system is great and provides even a small-thrilling challenge even on moderate. No game is really enjoyable if you can go through the whole game with barely a scratch.
There were moments where I got jumped by scares and felt anxious to press forward. I loved the thrill the game provided. Most of all the game provided fluid close quarter combat. I found this to be one of the game's best new mechanics. Being able to dodge melee enemies and counter attack felt really fluid and fun. The game provides you with enough creativity when approaching different groups of hostiles.

The story was captivating from beginning to end. In contrast to most user reviews, I grew emotionally attached to the characters. I personally was satisfied, yet unsatisfied with the ending (but in a good way). With the way the game unfolds and plays out, I felt like Naughty Dog took the best approach to end the game. I felt quite similar to the first game's ending. The characters have a lot of depth and growth as the game progresses. I found the direction of the story to be great! It was unorthodox, in that it sowed the present and past to tell a great emotional story.

Despite what other reviews say, this game deserves the score that Naughty Dog worked so hard for. 10/10. I genuinely am saddened by the negativity user's are giving it just because the story may have not gone the way they wanted it to. Especially the negative reviews that are bashing the game solely because it contains a homosexual couple. I’m also under the impression that a lot of people who reviewed the game also didn’t finish the game. I felt like it was an authentic aspect with the characters, in no way did it feel forced. Most user reviews act like the writers pooped the bed and just developed a "fund-raiser" game. I think Naughty Dog did a phenomenal job. No game is perfect and will satisfy you in every way, but this game was extremely enjoyable and gave me a lot to think about when I wasn't playing.

This game definitely deserves your attention and a full play through. Do I think this game is perfect? No. However, I do think this game deserves the high score with all of its production qualities, story telling mechanics, and enjoyable gameplay. I very much enjoyed this game and would put this in my PS4/Xbox One generation top 3!

Story 0/10, very much not the advertised story we were told this would be, playing through as a psychopath to justify the killing of Joel and the ending left us with the feeling there was too much of the story cut and we will have to buy the remastered uncut version when the PS5 goes live.
Sound 4/10, the music does barely fit the story narrative, the voice acting could be better with the grunts, oofs and screams for they sound muted and the dogs were too loud with their subtle high pitched squels.
Controls 1/10, not a fan of sequence based movements for you are always having to time and predict when you are going to move before you make your movement.
Overall 1/10, there is nothing other than the story and some unlockables to replay the game, so difficulty doesn't really matter and there is no pay off for playing at higher difficulties.

It took me 24 hours to beat the game (now this is while getting all of the collectables) but for the average person who's not trying to get a platinum trophy, I'd say they will probably beat the game in about 17-20 hours. Therefore it's pretty unlikely that most of these 0 star reviews posted on the 19th are legit.

Now let me get to my actual review. Yes, I saw the leaks (saw them after I heard angry joe talk about them) and I was livid and vowed to never play this game. As time went on I started to open up to the idea of playing the game and then preordered it to start playing at 9PM. While the leak was legit in terms of the actual footage but a lot of what people had said regarding the footage was inaccurate. I cannot go into details without spoiling the game but I think that ND did a pretty good job with the story. Yes, it's not the story that we all expected or even wanted but that doesn't make it bad. As you play the game you will come to terms with the idea that Ellie and Joel are just two people that are part of this chaotic world that do what they must in order to survive and that some of the choices that they made can come back to bite them. If you're like me and vowed to never play the game because of the leaks, do yourself a favor and try to play this game with an open mind. Some people are upset about the ending but to me I liked it. I've heard people trying to compare this to the new star wars trilogy and having beaten this game, I can truthfully tell you that it isn't like that. Also for all of the people hating on this game because SJW and LGBT well I bet you that they never cared for the game anyway.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game was great. The visuals were fantastic. The atmosphere was chilling. I was at the edge of my seat for most of the game. I can understand why people hate how the story played out. The story was conflicting to me but I liked it. I like the new elements added and the amount of customization in the settings to play your way. Custom controls. Aids. Visuals. It's a lot for a console game. The pacing was good. It got a bit slow before I realize I only had beaten half the game.

    Spoilers Below

The game makes you see what happened from both protagonists perspective. You feel bad for Ellie. But it makes you also feel sympathy for Abby. It's so conflicting.

You get so angry at Abby for killing Joel. And especially after Ellie let her live at the end. But you also have to remember, it was unfortunately Joel's actions that led to this. Joel stopped the vaccine from happening. He basically destroyed the fireflies. He killed Abby's father.

And also remember, Ellie hated Joel for making the choice for her. She wanted to die on that table. Abby in turn for what she did, basically lost everything. Four of her friends were killed in the hands of Ellie and Tommy. And she got the crap beaten out of her to the point of pleading for her life.

We all hate Abby for what she did to Joel. I cried when he died, but ultimately it was his own fault for what happened.

Naughty Dog loves to play with out feelings.

Anyway, let the review begin......I'll start with the pros
    1. Graphic This game's graphic is clean(, the environment, the animation, lighting effects, characters' model quality

Anyway, let the review begin......I'll start with the pros
    1. Graphic This game's graphic is clean(, the environment, the animation, lighting effects, characters' model quality are gorgeous.

    2. Sound Voice actors did a really good job expressing the emotion(even if it was forced), music is good but not the best.

3(?). Gameplay It has a variety of ways to kill the enemy in details, hits really felt real and satisfiy, buuuut it kinda get bored after the first few hours, enemies are just too weak, not even hard difficulty can changed this, clunky ai, jump is useless, no real puzzles either, basically just like the first game, and gameplay ain't what the first game is praised for.

    Now......the cons
    1. Story I don't think I have to say more, there are enough reviews and summaries about how much plot holes and bad developments in this game, in conclusion, it totally destroyed what they built in the first game(F all the characters' personality in the first game, cheap flashbacks to consume the fan), and tried to build something stupid and childish enough that exceptionally failed.

    2. Characters I don't give a F about those stupid names being ranted out and unimportant unmemorable blank characters died to make me feel guilty, new characters are either annoying or boring, and they can go out as any way possible and I don't give a damn, good old characters either died or go insaned(characters breakdown), and talked about new characters like abby and lev and that careless pregnant woman, uhhhhhhhhhhhh......at this point, it is kinda amazing how they made them so unlikable, and it ain't because of the political stuff, we had similar story and characters in the telltale walking dead and nobody is against Lee died or clementine being lesbian, we had strong buffed women characters like zarya in overwatch, aloy in horizon zero dawn etc, and no one are against these, so why this game's character sucks? Because they started in a horrendous way by slaughtering the og protagonist, and don't have good story and background to back it up, make people emphasize, those super forced cheap political figures are just the straw that broke the camel's back.

    3. Scenes Some scenes are highly disturbing and the good animation and sounds just make it more uncomfortable, very double standards about censorship.

    4. Ending All you did is for nothing, the killer got away with her little bastard happily ever after cause you are forced to forgive her after killing hundreds of people oh and some dogs to get to her, and you ended all alone with 8 fingers which can't even play the guitar your father figure gave you, guess abby is the real father figure now, right????
The point of the whole game: reVeNGe bAD yeeeeeeeet~~~~~~and it didn't make up to that point cause in the end tho one revenged(abby) got what she wanted and the one who gave up(ellie) lost everything......seriously, what a JOKE!

Final score: 2(1 for the graphic and 1 for the sounds)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have completed the game cover to cover and I can honestly say this is a masterpiece of the highest degree. I was lucky enough to dodge any spoilers before launch and every dark twist and turn throughout the story left me begging for more. The last of us part two keeps the core elements of the origional game and blows them to new extremes. Every morsel of this game is awe inspiring, from the story telling to the magnificent level design, there is little to nothing that I can complain about. My only criticism of the ENTIRE game is that the finale was deliberately left very open for potential sequels(which I would die for). Unlike the first title where the characters were in a place which just kept you guessing. Don't listen to the negative reviews which critique the fact that two of the main characters are lesbian. This aspect was already revealed in the first game and it is presented in a respectful and honestly amazing way which doesn't draw anything from the integrity of the story telling. I believe it really deepens the connection you feel towards these characters and it just creates more depth to them which is never a bad thing. Ellie is still the exact same character that you learn to know and love from the origional game, even more so infact. In the end, buy the game and play it for yourself. Have an open mind and watch the **** out stalkers. 10/10 Expand

La forma de deshacerse de un personaje tan importante como lo fue Joel, y que Ellie no cobre venganza, y que tengamos que jugar como Abby y tener que "entender" su historia de forma forzada o al apuro... son cosas que descontentan a muchos. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never leave reviews for anything, but I felt compelled to say something about this game because of the ridiculousness surrounding it.

This game is good. Like very, very good. In MY OPINION and in my experience, it absolutely outdoes the first game in virtually every way. It was an extremely emotionally charged experience for me, I cried several times and found myself questioning every action I was making these characters take. The way the decided to tell the story is brilliant in my opinion. They make you dislike the new character, Abby, and her friends by making her do something horrible, and then through her section of the story and through her gameplay in the latter half of the game, they successfully (to me) humanize everyone on her side of things to the point that it made me genuinely feel terrible and conflicted about everything I had just done as Ellie.

The overwhelming majority of the criticism leveled at this game is complete nonsense. I am not normally the person to tell a fan base that their outrage is unjustified. I was angry at The Last Jedi. I was angry about Game of Thrones turning into a dumpster fire. This isn't that. The game is fine. If you don't like some of the creative decisions they decided to make, that's on you.

Joel being murdered and not a central playable character is not an objectively bad creative decision. It's just that you don't like it. Having to play as the woman that killed him is not an objectively bad creative decision, you just don't like it. Ellie deciding not to kill Abby at the end of the game is not an objectively bad creative decision, you just don't like it.

I can understand why the game going this direction would possibly make you feel some kind of way. But bombing it with 1's and 0's simply because YOU personally didn't like it is stupid and beyond childish.

And as for the extremely toxic "fans" and trolls **** on the game because Dina is Jewish, the lesbian romance, Abby's physique, and the fact that there's a young trans character in the game- you are all very simple, pathetic and hate filled people and no one needs to take you seriously.

So in closing, it's okay if you didn't like the game's story. It might not be your cup of tea. But personally, as a massive fan of the first game, I enjoyed every second of it. I think the new characters are wonderful. I think they made huge improvements in gameplay over the first game. The graphics, models, facial animations (and animations in general), sound design and music are all simply breathtaking.

It's a shame that there are some people leaving reviews here giving it a 10/10 that may not actually feel that way about the game in order to try and push out the review bomb. Personally though I think the 9.5 critic score is completely warranted. I enjoyed it that much.

    Peace.

To begin, the game's graphics and sound design are some of the best the console has ever received, The characters include the ones we know and love, but are soon pushed aside as a new story begins to develop, one of what unbridled rage can do to a person. I will admit that some of the games moments became tiresome due to the structure of the story. I believe that the game's core story is nearly on par with the first in the series. However, as I said, due to the less confident, less conventional plot structure, the character building and motivation falls a bit flat until the very end. This is where I think the game truly shines, with the whole story in mind. The new characters are not made to be liked, but compared to the ones we knew before. A pair that will do anything to protect each other and survive. I do hope to see them return in the Last of Us: Part III, if that's ever possible, as Joel and Ellie's story has come to a depressing, bitter sweet end. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The mechanics, graphics, and animations of this game are actually phenomenal but what really makes this game bad is the story. There are multiple times were times where the characters try to set a theme for the game but the amount inconsistencies this game has in its dialogue, character actions and motivations make it hard for me to take this seriously. It feels like aspects of the plot were shoved in just to have something happen and not having smooth transitions or deep and complex motivations for the characters to discuss and act upon. I think if they changed the chronological order of the events of the game it would have been a better game. The game tries to use Joel as premiere shock value to just pull players into the story but it does the opposite. If they started with the motivations of Abby and her situation with everything that has been going on, the death of Joel would be in a grey area questioning whether or not Joel made the right choice with everything he has done and the people he has hurt; instead, they made the fanbase of the prior game immensely upset at the useless death of the beloved death of Joel. The flashback scenes with Joel should have been the game and the death of him at the hands of Abby at the end so the fanbase could at least have one last adventure with the duo. Overall, good mechanics good graphics but wheres the story at. This is definitely not the worst game of the year, but it is the most disappointing. Expand

T0xiC PlaYerS R anTi-LGBT!” Your loud-mouthed bull**** is drowning out the real criticism people are having with the game. Listen. The game is BEAUTIFUL. The graphics are just...wow. I can’t even describe how intoxicated I was from the visuals in this game. I took several screenshots because the game was just so gorgeous. Also, the acting is SUPERB. This is why I am absolutely annoyed people are rating this anything lower than a 5. For god’s sakes...you’re just being an **** and you know it. People put their heart and soul into making this game. You’re crapping on their work because of ONE MAN—Neil Druckmann. Talk about agenda driven...0/10 reviewers are purely driven by their own hate-filled agenda. They want to hurt Naughty Dog and burn down all that go with it. You’re trash. Have some respect for those that had NOTHING to do with the story. They just did their jobs. With that said, I struggled between a 6 or a 7. The reasons I gave above certainly warrant a 7, but the negatives just outweighed the positives, I’m afraid. To start, I found the flashbacks so chaotic and improperly placed. I found myself INCREDIBLY annoyed at the start of the game when Ellie and Jesse are talking about “the kiss” that happened “last night” and there was a tense moment between Ellie and Joel. By the time we got to that specific flashback, it was like, what? 15 hours into the game? Maybe longer? Idk because the game was so damn long. I literally forgot all about it by the time the flashback occurred. It took me awhile to piece it together because it was just randomly squeezed in hours and hours later into the game. Which leads me to my next point. The game was just too damn long. I honestly don’t think I would have been too bothered by the length if they didn’t keep flashing back to things they barely made references to earlier in the game. The entire story is one long jigsaw puzzle you have to piece together. If it was a bit more linear, I don’t think I would’ve minded it so much. Last but not least...Abby. I’m sorry, Neil, you just didn’t sell me on her. I didn’t care about her story. I get that she lost her dad. I honestly get where you were going with it and the message you were trying to convey, but you forget that I had played an ENTIRE game with Ellie and Joel—characters I came to love and hold close to my heart. Ellie had so much more behind her vengeance in my eyes. Maybe I’m just being stubborn and closed-minded, but I just couldn’t see Abby’s vengeance equaling the pain Ellie had. And then you made me brutally FIGHT Ellie?? I had no choice. You made me freaking attack Ellie in the theater. I kept putting my controller down because I just hated it. Ugh. I freaking hated it. Idk man...it was a bold move, Neil. I get it. It just didn’t resonate with me. I’m sorry. Expand

The first game history was about a wrecked world , bonds of people and the possible cure with Ellie.
Now is about a poor history of a revenge cycle, gore and political agendas.
Save 60 dollars and dont buy it

I was immensely disappointed by this game. The story in it for a story game and for a sequel to the first where the story was one of the best stories I have ever seen, is nothing less then disappointing.

Scoring: graphics 9/10 sound 9/10 acting 9.5/10 gameplay 5/10 (did not innovate gameplay at all over the course of 7 years) story 2/10 (bland revenge story that has been overused)

I got to a 3/10 because for a story driven game where the story is bland none of the technical achievements mean much, when you cant enjoy and buy into a story the ends about half way through, you already know who dies and what happens to side characters there isnt much in the way of surprises for roughly 10 hours because you can use your intuition and know exactly what is going to happen within those 10 hours your playing, Its also weird to see a story teller try to manipulate you into liking a character that is inherently evil and is proven to be this way constantly throughout the game. While they try and convince you the beloved character is the evil one for defending them self and being forced to do certain things that they could've worked around easily or avoided. This game is also not getting bad reviews because everyone who doesn't enjoy it is a homophobe because that would be quite the dilemma for me being a bi male it portrays the LGBT+ characters as ones who lash out when people defend them and not accepted by anyone but 1 person which is a shame because of how progressive this game is. It doesn't serve the community well at all as it paints it as a community that just wants to stand for itself and lash out at people trying to protect them and defend them from bigots, and for the trans character there are only 2 people who accept him which isnt a message (I'm not trans but I have a feeling that they wouldn't want to be shown this message) someone who is trans or is transitioning shouldn't be worried about is people to accept them for who they are. Overall the progressiveness missed the mark by having a negative light on most of the things that are concerned with sexuality and how people feel inside and how other refuse to accept them and when they are accepted they lash out at the people who accept them and defend them it makes us look horrible and its a shame they felt the need to go in this direction with the progressive characters. Finally if you see people saying the game is supposed to realistic and it wont have respectable deaths for every character, I raise one question, and that is how are women who are pregnant able to do things the average human probably couldn't with as much ease as they have doing the specific task to me it seems weird to make an argument about how the game is supposed to be ultra-realistic then have viably pregnant women go to the front lines and perform very demanding tasks.

All of the above is the reason I gave this game a 3/10.

When you establish amazing characters in a game, you need to maintain the characters as they were at the start of any sequel. Naughty Dog did not go that here, which is surprising for a company that usually does amazing things with their games. Within the first two hours of the game, a major character acts against his or her established characteristics, trusting strangers when after a full game had shown that he it she never trusts new people. This is an incredibly lazy way to deal with a major plot development. The story overall is a run of the mill revenge plot and poses little in the way of actual character development. New relationships lack anything of substance, reminding me heavily of Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman in the prequel Star Wars films. Graphically, this game is astounding, and as the PS4's lifecycle ends, will easily be the best looking game on the platform. The gameplay is a more refined version of the first, with fewer environmental puzzles, but amazing physics on the rope. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first game's combat, but the characters kept me invested. This is not the case here. Instantly, I despise the villain and the game devs for what happens. I expected this event to happen, but the way it feels is less like Obi-Wan and much more like Han Solo. So, having despised the villain, I expected to relish in the revenge, but I didn't. I didn't want to kill random people that are close to the villain, I want to kill the villain. There is a section of 10 hours in the game where you are forced to play as said villain, in a shallow attempt to make you empathize, but it does nothing. I had to put the game down and I won't be picking it back up. I have seen the end, and I'm glad I didn't waste anymore of my time. Thankfully, I borrowed a friend's disk, as he didn't even want to continue after that initial event. Overall, there was no enjoyment in this game. After all, Graphics does not a game make. Expand

This is a disgrace. From the deliberate false advertising of the game in the trailer and articles to the deliberate tearing down and destruction of the characters and story you grew so fond of in the first part. They spit in your face and leave you with nothing at the end of a nonsensical story. But hey - expectations subverted - that should be a 10/10 amirite folks?
This game gets a 0 from me. Not because the gameplay or scenary is bad - in fact it is really good - it gets a 0 because they sold this hot garbage on false advertisment and fed into false expectations of a continuation of the first part deliberately. I don't know if such deception counts as fraud, but it should definitely count as false advertisment and I hope a lawsuit will emerge from this.
(to clarify what i mean - they altered cutscenes in the trailer in a deliberate attempt to mask veeery important plotpoints that might have influenced your choice of buying - and the lead designer deliberately lied about the playable characters - or rather who you have to play as)

This is GOT Season 8, Star Wars Episode 7-9 or Terminator Dark Fate all over. Deconstruction of what you love, spitting in the face of fans, subverting expectations for the lulz no matter how non-sensical and contrived it has to be for that, no matter how much out of character - even if its a 180 on previous behaviours.

I repeat, do not get fooled by the professional reviewers - their jobs and future access to games for reviews depend on high ratings - they won't tell you the truth about this game. It's a hot steaming dump right into your lap.

    Saludos

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
