    The story is the equivalent to The Walking Dead continuing without Rick. Just no..... and for a story driven game it is completely okay to watch a YouTube vid to see if it is worth buying. Some “journalists” and dumb people out there needed to be reminded what reviews are for. There are more nuanced reviews out there and I recommend those as to the reasons why this game is a hard pass but this review was posted to remind dummies in part what the purposes of reviews are and that you can’t just hand wave the truth on a bad story.… Expand

    She has bad motivations compared to Joel
    Joel saved Ellie for not accepting grief and not to lose his responsibility he has had to protect while Abby was losing loved one she had nor responsibility only memories to cause grief.
    This makes us still care more about Joel with also we have alot of screen time and over years learn more and love him as an icon while Abby butchers him no care even though he SAVED HER LIFE with no hesitation.And Ellie lets her live when I believe Joel wouldnt since she nearly killed her brother tortured him through pain killed him torture and hurt Ellie and killed friend(s) and more and eat some of her hand like wow really smart.Also Joel falls for obvious trap I think shouldve if they did it this way have built up.Also Abby neevr regerets like Ellie when she kills like Joel and we should like her.Also she dosent thank Ellie for saving her and sort of Sam but Ellie prob didnt thank her last time cause she was fine with killing her wife basically Abby is the wrostthing of this game and also they try so hard to make you feel bad for Abby when she dosent care who she hurts when shes mad unlike Ellie very smart but thats my main only big issue other than nitpicks and also Ellie character feels so different that takes awhile for you to grow on her.Also Abby dieing would've improved it to 8 stars for me.Also she tortures Joel who saved her and thinks he deserved more pain even her friend was like the -- got what he deserved like wow I really care for these **** there is great mirroring to the original.But Abby being Joel that boy being Ellie if it was just that 0/10 wanted to break ps4 buy it on disc so you can sell or trade think so can get some money since it isn't worth digital at all. Recommend this game for Last Of Us fans Who KNOWS JOEL DIES ONLY IF great game well 60% basically everything without Abby...Dont attack voice actor Abby though thats messed up even actors like voice of Joel and Ellie have even talked about how Abby voice threats should stop shes innocent.Highly recommend visuals and character Ellie and killing is SOO GOOD 10/10 killing though and visuals and some other standouts like Ellie and Dina and when Joel is voice acting its SOO good voice acting perfect highly recommend that part except for weak lines by Abby that feel bad which also why give her and her friend Ally think called once (Sam) 0/10 in everything since they made me depressed mad never fun or clever or good at least no fun not even in kills.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. forced history, forced compassion, it felt like they had a good story but changed it mid production. They try so hard to make you feel bad about the main antagonist that they forgot about the game.
    Gameplay is amazing and all. But I wouldn't believe the same team did write the story of this game.

    It's not a bad game, but no one waited the last of us for the gameplay but the story.
    They dedicated more time on the rope physics (which are amazing) than the develop of the second and last part of the story.
    And the ending it just shouted out loud "We are making a 3rd game".
    I'm not mad about the ending, I'm mad about how it happened.

    In summary, this was like a school project. People made their part of the story and they tried to fix it together.

    Just pay for "Game Reviewers" and take 90+ points.. This game will take 25 hours of your life, and of course "Neil Druckmann" man please get away from the "Naughty Dog". For constant attention, the man fought monsters (Nathan Drake) and being beaten by the woman. Make a lesbian character to attract attention.. Just go and buy RDR2, GOW. Don't buy this game.

    Worst game of the generation! The same primitive stealth game play from the first game and **** up story. The only thing that's actually good about this game are graphics. The guy who leaked the game is a real hero.

É a filha irrealisticamente muscular de um NPC personagem inútil da primeira parte. Tudo parecia FORÇADO nessa parte apenas para DEMONIZAR alguns personagens e tentar empurrar as idéias de Druckmann sobre "o que é certo e errado". Como um telespectador da primeira parte, The Last of Us terminou no ponto em que Ellie disse "ok". Esta parte é apenas um spin-off e nem chega perto da primeira parte em termos de história.     I give the rating of 3 solely for improvements on gameplay from the previous game, amazing visuals, and acting by the character cast. The storytelling was a bold choice that did not deliver. It made me feel contempt for most characters at best, or such little interest at worst. Except for the flashbacks to Joel and Ellie's time together, which were the very best parts of the game. Some aspects of the story downright contradict the message that the game attempts to forcefeed us - oh yeah, it's kind of an interactive lecture, by the way.

    I know Neil said the first game was about love, and this one would be about hate, but he kinda made it so that I hate the game itself. What a shame

    Sigue la historia donde se quedo, la música es muy buena, el doblaje de superproducción , gráficamente muy bueno ( lastima que no pueda jugarse en 60 fps en ps4pro, lo guardarán para ps5) La historia está muy trabajada, el comienzo me recuerda a RDR2 , que es la parte que más me gusta de red dead , la zona de la nieve

The last of us 2, es una experiencia sumante interesante; la historia es sumanmente inesperada; (tomando como base el anterior juego) la direccion que tomaron es una que no me esperaba para nada, esta cargada de sentimientos, sentimientos transmitidos completamente a travez de todo esta experiencia jugable; por su direccion de arte, banda sonora , escenarios y jugabilidad; la cual de hecho es excelente tambien, similar al 1, pero con mejoras lo cual a si mismo le da un toque freco y mas disfrutable que su anterior entrega; lo recomiendo rotundamente.

    Le jeu de la décennie à mes yeux, lâchement et injustement bâché par des personnes anti LGBT, racistes et sexistes.
    Graphiquement incroyable, bande son inoubliable, scénario qui ça voir marquer pas mal de temps, gameplay aux **** oignons ... Un grand merci à ND pour ce bijou !

This game is not perfect by any means, but I think this game does significantly more right then it does wrong. Sound design/music, Cinematography, UI, Accessibility, and Gameplay are virtually perfect and a marginal improvement from Naughty Dog's previous game Uncharted 4.

    Where the issues arise are in some questionable bloated flashback sequences and a bold dichotomy between our established main character Ellie, and the new 'villian' character Abby. I think this story would have been told much better if it weren't for the excessive use of flashbacks and failure to establish Abby and friends before killing off our previous main character, Joel. This would have allowed us as the player to become more shocked with the death of Joel, and would cut down on the portion of the game where you take control of Abby in Seattle.

    Despite this, I think that the broad stroke of a revenge story on the surface being transformed into a story about forgiveness and how our two main characters change over time was executed fairly well. This game has so much intertwining of plot threads that you probably will need to play this a second time to really appreciate what all is happening between the time you play as Ellie in Seattle to when you eventually play as Abby.

    This story isn't nearly as linear and focused as the original, but I found myself unable to guess what happens next while playing. Ultimately, this resulted in a gripping story that I thoroughly enjoyed for the most part, and would recommend playing.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Summary: Not a bad game, but not that amazing either I found that it was basically just a copy of Tomb Raider but with more annoying characters.

    I thought the graphics were amazing, and the sound was also excellent.

    The big let downs here were the writing, combat system and searching for gear.

    Searching for gear was a huge pain in the arse. Loot isn't obvious and the button to collect only appears within 1m or so of the gear. So you end up having to walk up and down along every set of cupboards in every room of every shop to make sure that nothing as well. You occasionally come across strange items that you can pick up and examine, but they don't do anything else.

    In terms of gameplay I just found the weapon system way too clunky. You'd try to go into stealth mode, but instead changed weapons, or try and do a quick heal but get stuck there. it also seemed to me that when an enemies bullet hit you, you recovered a lot more slowly than the enemy did.

    Finally just on the script, whilst it definitely seemed it was written as SJW bingo, the bigger failure is just making all the characters unlikeable. The only characters who were vaguely likeable (Joel and Tommy) are either killed off early on or get very little screen time.
    I can understand what they were doing with the Abby backstory part of the game, but she just comes across as such a revengeful, angry character that I just wanted her part to end.    … Expand

    It's definitely not my cup of tea. Like many fans of the original game, I wasn't expecting a character assassination of my favorite protagonists. The gameplay and graphics are excellent as expected, but the story is one that never needed to be told. It's 30 hours of your life you're not going to get back. Very disappointing.

    Please don't let the toxic community and horrible fan base dissuade you. This game is so powerful and harsh in its storytelling, its game design has been sharpened from the last game to be tweaked to perfection and it just looks stunning.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic gameplay. The new standard for both accessibility options and visual detail. The animations and sound design are the best I've ever seen in the game, upgrading guns is exciting just to see all the clicking and clacking of the weapons in detail under the harsh workshop lamp. Some brilliant story moments and character-building near the start of the game. Then the narrative and gameplay pacing begins to fall apart as you get past Ellie's Day 1.

    Her flashbacks with Joel are lovely and give the game a *very* needed sense of levity. Even though dramatic moments still come up within them, they don't feel as soul-crushingly as hopeless as the time spent in Seattle. Up until the end of Ellie's Day 3, I felt the game had its problems but I was enjoying it. Then you start as Abby and it's just not executed well.

    I don't mind the idea of playing as Abby but forcing you to play through the previous 15 hours from Abby's perspective *without warning* with characters you either hate or don't care about did not keep me engaged at all. The important part to take note is that it really is a surprise, I would've been more likely to enjoy and be open to Abby's sections of the game if you swapped off between characters at the end of each day. But forcing you to play as Abby at the emotional climax of Ellie's journey feels unnecessarily antagonistic, like the switch is there to spite the player when they're finally ready for a conclusion. There's a lot of hypothetical changes you can throw out there but there's a lot of issues I have with Abby's days would require more than just reorganising how you play them. Long story short I did grow to sympathise with Abby but I never liked her, or her friends for that matter.

    I don't think the story is bad but I'd argue the way it's told certainly is. Abby definitely has the most varied level-design: the spooky forest clearing where you meet Yara and Lev, and the Island sequence stand out. And I really enjoyed Ellie's final level through Santa Barbara; it provides a really nice change of aesthetic to the grey wind and rain of Seattle, contains interesting encounters and *most importantly* is the most well-paced level in my opinion.

    I ended up finding the ending quite provocative but did find it to be *too* hopeless. The final flashbacks to Joel had me weeping like a little baby, 10 out of 10 moments for me. But the 23 hours previous have a bigger impact on my enjoyment of the game than the sparse moments of great story-telling between characters I *do* care about.

    It's a tricky one to discuss and video-essayists have made much more in-depth videos than anything you'll see in a Metacritic user review. It's a game I'm glad I played and would like to play again because I do love the gameplay so much (replaying encounters is a god-send for me), but after getting to the start of Ellie's Day 2 on a second playthrough I don't think I can bring myself to be engaged with the story now that I know what comes afterwards.

    With the game's erratic quality I can see people giving this game anywhere from a 4 to an 8, but I can not understand how someone could give this game a 10 or a 0, because even if you hate it there are moments likely to hit you in a way no game ever has. Critics seem to think it is perfect. I think professionals in the industry like to think that games have as much artistic credence as books and movies and so if a game tries something different or controversial then it must be a well-executed subversion of story-telling and a "new paragon of narrative design". When, in fact, maybe it was just something that *did* try hard but didn't quite hit the mark. Although I very strongly suspect if this game came from any other studio than Naughty Dog those review scores wouldn't be quite as high.    … Expand

    It doesn't just have imcomparable visual fidelity, consistency and most realistic human animation to date. It has reached a level of polish that further suspend my disbelief in the world and be fully immersed and invested in its powerful dramat.
    Most importantly, it has the balls to be different. It has the gut to    Part 2 is a major techinical and design milestone in video gaming.
    It doesn't just have imcomparable visual fidelity, consistency and most realistic human animation to date. It has reached a level of polish that further suspend my disbelief in the world and be fully immersed and invested in its powerful dramat.
    Most importantly, it has the balls to be different. It has the gut to actually take advantage of the form of videogame interactivity and put players into the shoes of characters in fatal conflict, to challenge fundamentally how we experience and feel the narrative.
    This in itself is a revolution to be remembered decades from now.    … Expand

    "Social Justice Warrior: The Game" They took whatever was good in the first game and literally left it untouched, putting a huge emphasis on presentation and the story that is a big **** YOU to fans and newcomers alike which revolve around tries pathetically hard to be emotional, raw and inspirational which is gonna age like milk.

Because The Last Of Us Part ii was single handed, the best gaming experience I've had in a long while. And these people are either trolling and haven't played, or they have an opinion but are toxic about it. I can safely say that TLOU2 is a masterpiece in not only graphical fidelity, but also its evolved and fluid game mechanics, and its phenomenal narrative structure and storytelling. Developer Naughty Dog took a brave decision with this game, and it worked out. They took the decision to make us play different characters. They took the decision to express Ellie's sexuality to make the story feel more real and immersive to today's society. It honestly breaks me so bad that people are hating on the game just because of the past leaks, or their general opinions on LGBTQ+ communities, or even the fact that the story 'wasn't what they wanted'. Well, guess what. The story was never going to be what you wanted. Everyone wanted Joel to live. Everyone wanted to play as Ellie for the full narrative. But thats not the point of this game. This game's theme is revenge as part, but mainly to teach that actions always have their reactions and outcomes. You are meant to feel loss, sadness, some hatred. You are meant to be mad at the circumstances between Abby and Ellie. And thats what makes it so brilliant. You are pulled in by this immersive, intuitive world that is lush with plantlife and the oid world, combined with imminent danger around every corner. The story of TLOU2 is to show that they're never will be a happy ever after. Even the ending is the saddest ending of any game in my opinion. The timelines perfectly tie in to each other. With Ellie being either one step ahead or behind in the games present day. And also in the playable memories between Ellie and Abby. They are perfectly intertwined. And have perfect parallels too, with both having their father figure murdered in cold blood. Both having their friends killed or hurt. Im telling you this now, this game is a masterpiece. The world is beautiful, the narrative is an emotional wild ride. The gameplay has nothing but been evolved for the better. The interactive moments with characters really immerse you and make you feel exactly what the characters are feeling. The games execution is so good that what you feel is no longer empathy, you feel as if you are Ellie. You are on the journey with her. You feel that you experienced Joels death with her. In which, you did.

    So, anyone who has read this and still thinks the game is disappointing, you're entitled to your opinion as long as you have thoroughly experienced the game and have seen everything. But to the trollers and the toxics, just shut up. You're bloody delusional. I will only hear out your opinions until you learn to be fair, kind and want to have a good discussion about this complex, deep lore written world. Because this game deserves to be remembered, for the brave strides it took, and for its incredible execution. Well done Naughty Dog, well done...

In a zombie apocalypse there is no happy ending and things should not play out the way “we want.” I loved the way the game took two approaches and became a huge fan of Abby and her story.     Once again, PC culture destroys everything it touches. The graphics and visual design are some of the greatest I've ever seen in a game, but that's where the positives for this game end. The magic of the story and characters that was in the first last of us is long gone. All there is now is inconsistent storytelling and pandering. It's utterly sad to see naughty dog from fall grace.

    I will speak in order of Plot (NO SPOILER), Technical side, Gameplay and Defects of the game. At first I couldn't understand why this game was so critically acclaimed. Yes, it was definitely a very high quality game, but it didn't seem as incredible to me as everyone described it. Then, something happened at some point, which will completely reverse the perception, not only of theI will speak in order of Plot (NO SPOILER), Technical side, Gameplay and Defects of the game. At first I couldn't understand why this game was so critically acclaimed. Yes, it was definitely a very high quality game, but it didn't seem as incredible to me as everyone described it. Then, something happened at some point, which will completely reverse the perception, not only of the previous half of The Last Of Us Part 2, but of the whole saga of The Last Of Us. That event will lead to an ending that emotionally destroys the player, a very open ending, more than the first chapter. Personally, I recommend playing both The Last Of Us and Left Behind, both equally important for understanding the ending of the second chapter. If you are looking for a game to finish quickly and well, well, this is not the game for you: it lasts almost 30 hours, even if on the internet there are speed runs without glitches for only 5 and a half hours. From a technical point of view, well, what about ... it takes the wealth of Horizon Zero Dawn screen polygons and multiplies them out of all proportion and combines them with incredibly detailed graphics and animations never seen before. The dubbing (Italian), as in the first chapter is perfect, in some sections, as in the first chapter, even better than the original. The gameplay is the logical and coherent evolution of the first chapter, personally I really liked it. There is one thing, however, that I did not like. The bailouts and the checkpoints system, in my opinion, don't work well. In the initial part, the rescue system risks eliminating even 15 or 20 minutes of exploration, data that although the player saves later, the game will save at the previous checkpoint, canceling entire exploration sessions. On the contrary, towards the end of the game, the checkpoints are disproportionately large. Practically, every occlusion of an enemy is equivalent to a checkpoint. This will allow you to kill one enemy, target another, and if you miss the shot, you can restart from the last checkpoint without having to kill everyone you killed before making a mistake. I find this thing broken and absurd and I hope it will be resolved… Expand

    Very fun gameplay and the graphics are incredible. I loved exploring around Seattle & reading all those notes you found and finding all easter eggs etc etc.

    The game was a lot scarier than the first one too which i really liked. The runners, clickers & stalkers were much more aggressive and harder to defeat.

    I really liked the story. Though i wasn’t enjoying playing as Abby that much. But other than that this game is a masterpiece and definetely a must play for all gamers.    … Expand

No, not all of the negative reviews here have to do with the developers' portrayal of "woke" characters, the narrative is genuinely horrendous. Its characters are handled atrociously (again, this has nothing to do with their "wokeness")and completely invalidate all development from the first game. Their decisions are entirely nonsensical and only occur because it is convenient to the plot. For example, Joel, a *hardened survivor* who frequently shows extreme caution in the first game, walks right into a room full of armed strangers and *tells them his name*, because the plot decided that Joel needed to be killed off for shock value in this scene. This game loves to throw mandatory, meaningless violence at the player for fruitless shock value and then *blame the player* as if they had any choice in the matter. For instance, in one scene the protagonist Ellie kills a medic woman who was sent on a mission. It has been frequently demonstrated that medics are extremely important in the world of The Last of Us, so of course this woman would be sent out in the open without a second thought, because the game needs to show how bloodthirsty Ellie is! Oh, and did I mention that this woman is *pregnant* as well? It makes absolutely no sense and only serves to make the player feel bad when Ellie kills her. But in my opinion, the absolute worst part of this game is Abby. No one cares about Abby. No one asked to play as her for half the game, and yet that is what you are forced to do, and it is very badly handled. Abby is an absolutely irredeemable character; she has taken everything from Ellie. And yet the game constantly tries to make you feel as though Ellie is the antagonist of this story. Her character is so uninteresting and is only made worse when she attempts to steal the role of protagonist. The ending is also terrible. Ellie, after slaughtering countless innocents, decides to spare Abby *right after trying to kill her* because she once forgave Joel for something terrible as well. I am not making this up. Abby gets away with no consequences, and Ellie is left with no family, no friends, and a serious injury. There are no words to describe how awful this plot is.… Expand

    The gameplay is a slightly refined version of TLOU, crafting, etc. didn´t change.
    now about the bad.. ND came up with the wors sequel in gaming history. The story doesn´t tell anything except violence all the time.. and more violence... and more... it doesn´t stop.
    They somehow thought it was a good idea to kill off Joel in the beginning. That may have worked if it was a somehow meaningful death but this whole thing was rushed and emotionless. After this **** move they somehow went even further and forced you to play as the manwomantransthing who killed your beloved character. Then all that follows is violence and an endless revenge circle rounded up by their LGBTQ agenda. This game is a 2/10. They messed up the characters and the story in a game that´s only about characters and story. not worth the money and everyone who played TLOU 1 should stay away from this game.    … Expand

Именно из-за концепции я заинтересовался, как и пост-апокалипсисом, так и зомби жанром. За эти 7 лет мной были прочитаны десятки книг, просмотрены десятки фильмов этих жанров. И перед выходом второй части я переиграл первую. И лучше бы не переигрывал! Т.к. выявилось что помимо слабого исполнения, сюжет изобилует в наглую «скомуннизденных» идей и элементов других произведений, что были написаны или сняты за долго до выхода первой части.
    О вот вышла вторая часть. И лучше бы она не выходила бы! Помимо красивой графики, дизайна локаций, да и вообще прекрасной детализации графики в игре нет ничего хорошего или удовлетворительного. Геймплей надоел уже через 3 часа. Персонажи получили даунгрейд, как про проработке, так и по мотивации. Сюжет все также остался на 25% банальным, 35% «скомуннизденным» у других и 40% оригинальных идей. И лучше бы этих 40% не было. Эти 40% и идеями назвать нельзя. Также в игре присутствует насилие ради насилия, неожиданные сюжетные повороты ради неожиданных поворотов (при чем наверное одна треть из них может с натяжкой называться адекватной и не лишенной логики).
    Многие критики и обычные игроки отмечают, что эта игра несет великий посыл о мести. Но даже в таких произведениях как «Красный змей» с Тактраровым и «Мачете» с Денни Трехо лучше раскрывают этот посыл, при чем «Красный змей» делает это без эксплуатационного «шок-контента». Ну а про то, что Дюма со своим «Графом Монте-Кристо» смотрел бы на «Великий Посыл о Мести в «The Last of Us part2»», как на попытку школьника расписать ручку перед уроком я Вам гарантирую.
    Поэтому это скорее техно-демка Playstation нежели игра. В Плане посмотрите какая шикарная картинка на PS4, а представите как эта картинка будет выглядеть на PS5. На PS5 я бы поставил ей 4/10, но на PS4 0.4/10.
    P.S. Всю рекламную компанию игры я прошел в полной информационной изоляции, поэтому не знал про слитый сюжет, слитую информацию и т.д. Но после вступительного диалога Джоэла сразу понял чем игра закончится и оказался прав. И про этот уровень проработки сценария весь российский и зарубежный Игрожур воспевал хвалебные одды?    … Expand

Same problems from Part 1 are relevant for Part 2 aka bad shot registration, glithchy animations, etc. The jump button is totally useless.

    Story is just horrendous. They try to make this game feel extremely serious and realistic but because of the laughable decisions taken by characters, the game feels more like a bad comedy. I laughed a lot from the halfway point because of how unbelievable the decisions made were. Anyways I won't waste my time writing this any longer. It's bad and the the extremely high budget production doesn't change that.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
