    I'm halfway through the game and have avoided any spoilers that happen later on, but after devoting many hours to this game I can say that I am extremely disheartened by this game. I don't get excited to play this game, much like I did with the first one. It feels more like a chore to play this game in my opinion. The pacing is atrocious. The character development is garbage.     Let me just say this... Everything this sequel set out to do following the original, it did so perfectly.

    The developers wanted to tell a specific story. The main theme of this story is around revenge - that violence begets violence. The players may not agree with the decisions made in the game by main character. The thing is... they aren't meant to. You form certain perceptions by the    Let me just say this...     The developers wanted to tell a specific story. The main theme of this story is around revenge - that violence begets violence. The players may not agree with the decisions made in the game by main character. The thing is... they aren't meant to. You form certain perceptions by the time you're halfway through. Although Ellie's actions are questionable, you understand the reasoning behind them. And then the writers flip the script. You (hopefully) realise that the actions of the antagonist are equally as justified - in fact, they show more moral restraint than the protagonist. You hated what they did but the reasoning of their actions is the same. It's a vicious cycle which can only end with forgiveness. The non-linear story telling and the pace conveyed this theme excellently.

    Apart from the story, the game design and voice acting was some of the best in any game ever. The landscape shots and character work really are things to marvel at and appreciate. This game does not shy away from violence. It's brutal. Again, as it is meant to be. This is one of the most stress inducing games I've played. The score adds to each intense scene, raising your heart rate and stress levels with every beat. I'm seeing an overwhelming amount of negative reviews on this site and on YouTube. Majority of what I've heard people complain about is 1) the story decisions which they didn't agree with and 2) the LGBTQ aspects. To the first I'd repeat what I said at the start - you may not agree what decisions they took but they had a strong reasoning for each one. If you can't see that, you may have missed the point. And for the second, I've seen games in the past forcefully push forward similar themes and it's clear - it doesn't sit right and you can tell its there to make a point. The Last of Us 2 doesn't feel that way at all. It flows as naturally in the game as any heterosexual story arcs in any other game do. If you feel that the developers put this in due to an agenda, and that's your basis for hate on this game then I do think you should avoid it on the whole. Play it with an open mind or you aren't going to have an enjoyable experience.

    This may not the sequel you wanted it to be, but it's a masterpiece regardless. For me, the PS4 generation ended on a high note.    … Expand

    I loved every moment in this game. The graphics are so beautiful, the gameplay very good, and IA.

    Naughty Dog, stop trying to follow the orders of minorities because you are making total crap of your game. You could make an awesome game, but you ruined everything. The only good thing i see is the reference to the first part of The Last Of Us. That's why i give this game 2 but not 0.

    I never really was a fan of the gameplay of the last of us that's not really why I played that game. It was all about the story and the characters but the last of us part 2 feels so far out of place. Some of the scenes in this game feel so forced and uncomfortable. This ain't it!

    The game was actually amazing. Graphics, gameplay, story. I understand the dissatisfaction as ND did not go for the sure success fan service recipe, but took the story two notches further with a result to displease some people. For me, this was a bold move that justifies the player in the end.

It was even publicly broadcasted that it would be an entirely different beast to the first game, the magic and wonder has been replaced by an eternally bleak and heart-wrenching tale of vengeance and darkness as it travels into the flawed nature of humanity and the repercussions of choosing revenge. It doesn't glorify violence and invites the player to feel bad about their actions as Ellie becomes further calcified by her survival instinct and hardened as her quest for retribution unravels. The original was about 'love' while this sequel tackles the topic of 'hate' which adds to the gloomy tone and devastating story.

    The graphics and character animations continue to push the envelope and test what studios are capable of and it looks like you're watching a movie, the amount of detail on the locations and foliage to the rundown areas of the country as we journey from more than one state giving it a much larger scope than the first game.

    Neil Druckmann outright said that 'fun' isn't the word he would use for Part II, it's a relentless endurance test that continuously beats you down and shows no mercy in displaying the grim reality which fits with the current state of society and that humans can be just as monstrous as the abominations from the Cordyceps outbreak.

    The voice acting and sharply written script helps make the characters believable and engaging and offers a sense of diversity by not conforming to the norm and showing acknowledgment of other communities like the masculine Abby who originally rubbed me the wrong way but Laura Bailey sells her performance.

    This isn't going to appeal to gamers who want things to stick to the status quo as this isn't intended to take the safe way out and a lot of things will happen that you don't like and it's entirely beyond your control. That doesn't suddenly mean the game is bad because it defies your expectations from the first game, it just shows that we're in a whole different weight class now and characters change. Joel had become consumed by hubris after taking on the Fireflies and fighting through the hospital to rescue Ellie that he found himself nigh on indestructible and his arrogance is his downfall which shares similarities with Walter White when he demands rival dealers to say his name and also, Rick Grimes when trying to take over Alexandria because he's already beaten his adversaries and thinks nothing can stop him.

    This is an entirely contrary to what you expect kind of game that grabs hold and doesn't let go and leaves a chilling indelible mark long after the 30 hour campaign.

    The leaks undeniably hurt the reception but people are blowing it way out of proportion and hold a rosy-colored view of the first game that they can't accept change or appreciate that it wasn't going to be the same. There's also edgelords who dislike Ellie's sexual orientation even though it was obvious in the first game with her tomboy look and her romantic experimentation with her friend Riley in the Left Behind DLC. There's also incels who despise strong female representation in media and slander the slightest things.

    Only you can really perceive how you feel but take off the nostalgia glasses for a moment and you'll see that Naughty Dog have raised the bar, yet again.

    Es verdad que es chocante la muerte de Joel ya que algunos extraños que lo matan sin saber porque es muy impactante (pero como todos ya sabían el porqué Abby lo mato), olvidan que esto debería ser nuevo para nosotros y que además no vemos el otro lado de la moneda, se que Ellie es el personaje principal con un motivo de venganza pero también debemos ponernos en el lugar del otro, porque piensa que eres Abby y que un extraño mato a tu padre uhhh si no me debería enojar ya que el que lo mato es Joel y el es bueno y salvo a Ellie obviamente eso a todos nos va a importar un bledo todos buscariamos venganza.
    Además el final de que Ellie no mató a Abby igual es bueno porque nos dicen que la venganza no es buena y que no traerá paz, también se acaba ese ciclo de maldad que nos plantearon de un inicio con la muerte de Joel.
    (Joel siempre será nuestro favorito, pero todos deben pagar las cuentas alguna día y al el llego la cuenta).
    En cuento a gameplay esta muy bueno, mejor que el anterior    … Expand

    Amo que este juego no sea un fan service, la historia es cruda, cruel eso la hace realista, la vida es injusta y esta reflejada en este juego, nunca un juego me había hecho sentir tantos sentimientos a la vez, hace 10 días termine el juego y sigo con una sensación inexplicable, amo cada de detalle y lo bien que esta hecho, gracias Neil.

    I didn't know how to feel about this game first... so I thought trough everything i liked and hated in this game and it became clear that this might just be one of the best games out there. So stop giving bad ratings to this game if you haven't played it! Play it, it is WORTH IT!

    This games is very, very very good. The history is amazing. gameplay is wonderfull. The grafics and ambiences(RTS ON) is equal a movie. the best seller from games. You don't like? You play? ..So congrats for your opinion. For case the justice, this game would like received among 7.0 ou 7.6. But many notes below 4.0, typically to harm without any foundation

I can't understand how many complain that Joel dies. Yes, he was a main character in the first part and he was also a good and fun team together with Ellie. It honestly hurt my heart when he died, but Ellie was the most important person in this game from the beginning. You live in a post apocalyptic world. there are almost never happy ends and you live with the idea that you could die every day. Joel left all of humanity in the first part just to save Ellie and I'm sure he knew that one day he would catch up with him. So please don't hate the game for that reason.… Expand

    Amazing game. Stunning visuals, great gameplay, greater story and phenomenal acting. 10/10. The ending was satisfying to me and I felt it did the game and its prequel justice. Go play it and enjoy it!!

    Realmente me parece un juego increíble, como el primer juego lo considero como uno de los mejores juegos de la historia, este juego le da un vistazo al dolor de una pequeña niña que simplemente ya no depende de Joel. En lo personal este juego cierra de una forma casi magistral al primero, porque desde el primer juego junto al dlc se dan las bases para este, todo cuadra realmente solo que la gente no ve que quieren dar a entender que ese mundo no es el real, pero que algún día puede llegar a serlo. Ellie es uno de los mejores personajes escritos en un videojuego al igual que Joel o Arthur morgan, más allá del hecho de que sea lesbiana tiene una vida complicada y llena de dolor y violencia. Al mi parecer en este título se maneja casi a la altura del primero la historia, solo que ya no es lo mismo y ahora es una historia de venganza. Espero que este juego sea el GOTY ya que se lo merece aunque las personas digan lo contrario solo porque o no son de PS4, o son homofóbicos o lo más probable, es que ninguno de ellos ha completado el juego o no lo han jugado y los que si solo no se acostumbran al cambio ya que este no es el mismo juego que salió en 2013 este juego es la mejor vista de Ellie que hemos visto en años...… Expand

I can see and understand why Ellie stopped in the end, but I never got inside Abby's head as ND wants me to. Building her vaguely and suddenly she's "trying to be good" after 2 strangers saved her. After Seattle events, I can see that she did change, but that's not enough to cover her golf scene. Overall it's an emotional roller coaster for me.… Expand

This game is a masterclass in storytelling through video games. The enviroments are breathtakingly well crafted, The motion capture animaiton shines through and the lighting really sets the tone of the game. its clear to see that this game is the trials and tribulations of ellie as a character. A revenge story that has Ellie question her choices and review her loyallity to joel. Using unconventional methods of gameplay to get across that theres not heroes or villans here, just a 19 year old girl struggling to understand. Anyone that says the game panders to the LGBT crowd is, quite frankly, a brain dead moron. I doubt Neil Patrick Harris likes to cave in a german shepards skull with a pickaxe. The only issue i have is that the game kinda plays it self at parts but that adds towards the cinematic experience.     "The Last Of Us 2" seemed like a completely cool game to me due to the graphics and gameplay, but I waited a bit longer on certain things. Some of Abby's flashbacks were incesarios, the only good and interesting ones were about her relationship with her dad and how she saw him pass away.

    A part gave more prominence to her than Ellie.

    In a third part they can improve those points.

I give it a 9 simply because the darkness in the game is a little much for people who do not understand things such as mental health issues or for those who do suffer from them. I have personally played and own hundreds of video games across multiple platforms, and The Last of Us part 2 is one of the few that has truly moved me.     Absolutely the most incredible game I have played. I have been playing game since regular Nintendo and play every single game that comes out. The Last of Us 2 is dark, emotional, and the detail shows. No idea about the bad user reviews but you need to spend the time and enjoy this masterpiece.

    I want to replay it again but the story hits me hard, that I need to cope with this feeling for days before I will do my second playthrough. I already have beaten the game in survivor though.

    The story is soul-crushing, it cuts deep. You will wish you have taken this action instead of that because, in the blink of an eye, that opportunity could be lost.

    This game is mainly about Ellie's relationship with Joel. Secondly, this game is all about the act of "that" that every person has.

    If you play the game, you will understand why Ellie is eager to seek revenge despite what happened that night prior to Joel's death (this is on the last minutes of the game).

    The ending is more bittersweet than the first one that I really wish there will be a part 3. I feel how Ellie feels right now.

Over the 20 hours of gameplay and exploration, including the tense moments of encounters with new infected creatures and new cults/groups was amazing. The music in tense, sad or happy which made certain situations brilliant, music sometimes can break a game, but the style of music was just right. The story, it’s clear that it is very difficult to creat a new character/characters and try to create empathy for them like the community care for Joel and Ellie. However, once seeing Abby’s POV and seeing who she was and what she has been through and lost in the past, also showing why she killed Joel does create empathy for her. Now in the 5-8 hours of seeing abby’s life and showing the journey of the days 1-4 also including the past sometimes, it’s worked what the game developers wanted to happen, at the end I didn’t really want to kill Abby, due to seeing her perspective and seeing who she was. Now with Ellie the flashbacks where Joel is there really is very effective and sad and the way his face pops up every now then shows the fact that Ellie now misses him and wishes she could have spent more time with him. The end flash back including the bar flash back really made me get emotional, tears, because to find out that they only just wanted to work everything out, but it’s sadly the day before Joel dies, it just hurt. This game has done really well to show emotion for characters and also I think it has a moral of the story, sort of like how this one thing made Ellie lose more then what she went in with, she lose Dina and JJ (we think), Tommy and his wife broke up, Jessie dies, Ellie loses two fingers so can no longer play certain keys on the guitar, and sadly most of all she chose to lose time with Joel by not forgiving him and realising cons of what he did but not the pros. Not all endings are happy, but this ending was furthing the point of what I said more or less (which is good and emotional). Overall a hugely emotional game, I am defo gonna play this game again just not now as I have to take it all in. I hope that a part 3 does come out in the years to come as I would love to see where Ellie goes and what people think of her at the city. I hope you all enjoy the game, also when playing it you real should read the notes found and listen to the dialogue and take it all in! The story does become a bit predictable at times, and it's understandable the frustration players who have strong feelings for the characters in the first game may experience with some of the twists and turns of this sequel - but at the end of the day it's a tragic tale of two cities in which both sides are too caught up in their emotions to realize the harm they're causing.

    Only real detractors for me were that the new infected don't provide any meaningful diversity in gameplay. And as far as the story goes I was left at a few times wishing I could make a decision for myself rather than the mashing in a scripted fight I'm forced to perform.    … Expand

    Amazing graphics, sound design, gameplay, level design and world building. It's NaughtyDog at his best.

    The story takes very bold directions, and it's definitely not for everyone. Even so, it's a 10/10 masterpiece.

    This game is incredible thing, I am still shocked by the story. So many emotions I felt while playing in TLoU2, thank you, Neil Druckmann, for such an experience. The gameplay is awesome, so many ways to kill enemies, to hide in a grass, to swim and ride by horses. And beautiful graphic, especially Ellie, she’s my fav. I’m gonna replay this game not one time

Joel's death is a powerful motivator for Ellie (and for us gamers) to want to avenge Joel's death. What Ellie and Abby learn at the end is that vengeance comes at a stiff price. Ellie and Abby both lost everything and everyone they loved.

    Other than that, I can honestly say it's the game with the best thought out storyline I have ever played.

    Do yourself a favor, and allow yourself to be immersed. Take your time going through the world. Read the backstory and leftover stories from in game characters before you move on. It adds to the realism and believability of the world.    … Expand

    Entendo que muitos não gostaram da morte do Joel, também não fiquei, mas achei totalmente justificável com as ações dele no final do primeiro jogo, a atitude do nosso querido Joel infelizmente acarretou a extinção da unica esperança de cura que o mundo teria. Eu teria feito o meso que ele? Sem dúvidas, mas não é de se surpreender que alguém queria mata-lo por causa disso, ainda mais a Abby que teve mais um fator de que o médico responsável era o seu pai. Ponto justificado da morte do Joel, continuamos a avaliação do jogo.

    O gráfico meus amigos, cada detalhe de movimentação, pequenas marcas nos rostos dos personagens, praticamente tudo nesse jogo é surpreendente a ponto de toda vez que você notar um detalhe sair espontaneamente de sua boca um "UAU".

    A profundidade que a história deu aos personagens, suas atitudes, consequências e até jeitos no andar deram uma humanizada absurda, a ponto de criarmos afeto ao personagem.

    Vale mencionar que o ponto de jogarmos com a Abby todos os dias em que a Ellie estava em Seattle foi uma ótima estratégia. Vimos que Abby no final de contas, mesmo matando o Joel de forma cruel, era uma pessoa boa a sua comunidade e lutava pelo justo, mesmo com a busca pela vingança de seu pai.

    As lutas que temos com a Ellie são de partir o coração, a todo momento fiquei pensando (mano, não quero bater nela, para com isso), mas novamente justificável por toda a trajetória que passamos com a Abby, novamente teria feito o mesmo.

    Gostei do jeito em que aprofundaram o irmão de Joel, Tommy, fiquei bastante feliz ao ver que o atirador de elite na passarela que não errava uma e usava a estratégia para parar Abby era na verdade ele.

    Sofri poucos bugs durante o jogo que não atrapalharam a minha experiencia, uma porta que não se abriu de primeira e renderização de poucas placas durante o andar do game, mas para mim é justificável pela grandeza dos cenários e detalhes programados, sem dúvida passaria um bugzinho ou outro.

    Vale mencionar que o fim do game, na minha opinião, deixou a Ellie sem um propósito, algo que achei um pouco ruim, mas espero que caso saia um terceiro ela encontre o propósito nos Vagalumes.

The gameplay and story is okay but not incredible 6/10 but the ending and what looked like an ending brings it down to a 2/10. The ending so so incredible bad that it's impressive and makes you wish it just ended after Ellie and Abby's fight and Ellie settles down on the farm with Dina and the baby... Throughout the game every door and room is blocked and you have to take the loooooong way around which is a joke. I'd look to the media review by Cultired Vultures if you want an honest and realistic review.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just have to give it to Naughty Dog, they've really done it. Like most people I loved the first game and the story of Joel going from father to a selfish monster to a human being again at the end. A human being that ..as we all know dooms all of humanity when he slaughters the few good people left in the world that is actually trying to develop a cure. The way Naughty Dog was still able to make us somewhat agree with Joels horrific decision is truly an achievement on it's own. On to the part 2. In many ways this game made me thing of the excellent film "Sympathy For Mr Vengeance" and "Old Boy", 2 out of 3 films in Park Chan-wooks trilogy of revenge. It starts out simple with our protagonist seeking revenge from a perspective we know, but then shifts this perspective to a completely new one that shines a new light on the characters involved. We get to learn that Joels killer isn't actually a bad person, in fact it's easy to argue she's a pretty good person. She's driven by a desire for revenge but refuses to kill Ellie or Tommy because she's not a blind cold killer - she's just after the one person that killed her father and doomed all of humanity for his own selfish reasons. After the initial chapters as Abbey I soon started to sympathise more with her than Ellie. I felt bad for Ellie, I could understand her anger and frustration with loosing her father figure but I wanted her to stop. But she simply can't. As she describes it herself when she finds out what really happened at the end of the first game, Joel took away her reason to be. She could have saved humanity, meant something. She never got to forgive Joel for what he did. She's basically a traumatised mess full of hate. I'd actually give this game a 9 instead of a 10 but seeing how many people score this a 0 just because they're buying in to the hate-hysteria of the internet I think we can throw in a little extra point just to piss someone off.

    The 9 is because no matter how well written and well acted this game is - and how much money is thrown at this production I still feel the ending is a bit messy in the pacing. Not that I dislike the ending but there were too many scenes in a row that felt like it could have been the end and it would still have ended on the same emotional note.    … Expand

    One of the best games I've played. Possibly the best graphics on ps4 right now. Do not listen to these haters with 0s and 1s. All they want to do is bring the game down. In fact don't take my 10 as the perfect score too. Play it for yourself and form your own opinion.

But as a continued playing, I got more and more interested in seeing how it would play out. I was never rooting for Abby to win, but I began to understand why she was doing what she was doing.     The game was ruined. All actions and missions are repeated. You always just go kill zombies. ORDINARY ZOMBIES. And all the characters are alive ... no one talks to you constantly as it was in the first part of the game. Therefore, I do not advise buying this game.

    The game is absolutely gorgeous, dont believe anyone who tells you otherwise. The soundtrack is superb, with a perfect mix of battle themes and somber melodies. The gameplay is basically the same as the first but approved upon massively.and is never dull. If you liked the combat of Part 1, you should enjoy this thoroughly. Which is great, but it can take away from the pacing of the story sometimes if you like to wander and discover things . If you think any game with females who arent dainty and meek make it "SJW propoganda", then you shouldnt play this. Overall, I think it is a masterpiece. If not a masterpiece, then it is still a must play. Please dont listen to triggered babies and either watch it, buy it, or read reviews that have genuine criticisms.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
