    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, where to begin. The Last of Us was a breathtaking game. Storytelling was done masterfully. I still tear up whenever I see Sarah's scene.
    That game managed to get you so attached to characters to the point of it being the downfall of the sequel.

    TLOU2 greatly improves the gameplay mechanics of the first game, albeit the mechanics aren't that great to begin with.
    It's still very polished and highly enjoyable at first.
    It gets stale very very quickly, unfortunately, but that's not too much of an issue, because TLOU was never about gameplay.

    Environments and music are out of this world. Hats off to all the people involved. They did an astounding job and every set piece was a beauty to behold.

    Unfortunately, all of what I mentioned is overshadowed greatly. These were all overshadowed by abysmal writing and storytelling.
    I did not mind Joel dying. That was expected.
    The how is questionable but what are you gonna do..

    This story feels incoherent. Dismantled. Trying so hard to break the shackles of a cliche revenge story, it ends up shooting itself in the foot.
    I did not care for Abby or her friends. I really didn't. Naughty Dog got us attached to Joel and Ellie, knowing well that they're flawed. Knowing well they're not the best of people. We loved them anyway. Trying to show us how bad they are doesn't work. It's a post-apocalyptic world where every man is for himself.
    We cared about their relationship, not Abby's and her new friends. Playing her angered me beyond belief and letting her walk free without being given any choice made me feel like I wasted so much time. The game is hollow.
    The characters are hollow and their choices don't make sense.
    It's like the characters were made to fit the narrative they wanted and not the other way around.
    I expected a big portion of the game to talk about "the cure" which is what made the first game what it is, but there was nothing.
    Only a very brief mention in a damn flashback that brushes off the whole thing as minor story point.
    I personally believe that finding a cure should've been the main focus of the game, with the revenge story being a subplot of many.
    Unfortunately, we can't change what has been done. Naughty Dog failed to deliver a good story. They tried a bit too hard and stumbled on their own ego.

    The game is not nearly as bad as people are claiming. Yes there are storytelling flaws, but most of the flaws pointed out by low score reviewers are invalid, and can be debunked by applying some common sense and picking clues from context. There are some story elements that could've definitely been handled better. Now coming to the negative reviews, some of them make very valid points, butThe game is not nearly as bad as people are claiming. So my final verdict is to give this a try, and if you don't want to pay full price, you can wait till this goes on sale to decide for yourself.     As a player who actually played and completed the game on survivor, I managed to avoid any spoilers and reviews of the game. It is so sad to see the review bombs that plague the user section from people that didn't even played or own the game. If you just sit down , ignore everyone's opinions and just play the game and be honest about it , 10/10 is the only score that makes sense. There's so much blood sweat and tears behind that game , 2 days after I finished it , I still think about it and any game , movie or book that is able to achieve that , I consider it as a masterpiece. I know that people find some issues with the story, others are not happy with the gameplay , it's not a perfect game. There is no such thing as a perfect game , but i score this not so much as a game , but as an experience. I don't want to spoil anything , but that little moment at the end was so beautiful and brilliant , it really touched my heart.

    1 - Смерть важного персонажа в начале игры
    2- Очень глупый и затянутый сюжет с "Вьетнамскими" флешбеками
    3- Уничтожение персонажа Элли как положительную личность. Выставили ее как бездумную машину возмездия. У Эбби, после знакомства с ней, больше положительных черт, чем у нее
    4- Отсутствие толком новых механик в игре
    5- Очень много было дежавю в плане локаций где происходят сражения. На каждый большой бой можно привести пример сражения из первой части. Погоня за снайпером на мосту, арены сражения с псами/шрамами/зараженными, пассивные проходки.
    6- Много сильных и независимых женщин врагов
    7- Введение в заблуждение на стадии пиара игры. В роликах были события с одними персонажами, в реале получили с другими.

    This game will make you have mixed feelings about it. Once you start it you will feel like this is the worst story ever and it ruined its predecessor. But the more you play the game understand the flow of the story you will fall in love. And people really judged the game WRONG. Some never played the game and others did not finish it..

    So, bottom line is this game is a MUST play

Graphics: 10/10 - Best looking PS4 Game so far. This is undeniable and I'm pretty sure most if not all will agree. The detail of this game is amazing. Sound Music and Voice: 8/10 - They really made the game lean more into Horror. The background sounds are scary when in dark spaces and the silence in some places makes you seem wary of everything. The first game has its horror moments but this game take it up a notch.

    Story: 8/10 - I rate the first game a 9/10. I'm one of the rare people who didn't thought the game's story was a masterpiece but it was good for what they did. The first story was basically an old dude who can't move on from the death of his kid after so many years smuggling a kid to a group. That's it. The main story's focus is literally about Love and the relationship between Ellie and Joel. And they use that in the second game to make you hurt. The Part 2 is a story about revenge and they utilize it well. I'm not gonna touch into too much of the spoilers. But the game has two Protagonist, Ellie (Protagonist) and Abby (Antagonist) both are woman are on a quest for revenge and hate for different yet justifiable reasons. A lot of the hate for this story is with Abby as abby does horrible **** and they let you play as them and make you do this as a player instead of a cinematic experience. They did this add context to what she does and why she does what she did. From a story telling platform this actually makes sense, since I don't think anyone one would have wanted to start 10 plus hours of the game at the start as a Stranger. Instead they give you chunks of her story at a time and chunks of Ellie's story. It's a little weird and to be honest I guess they could have just divided the two. Like an option to Play Ellie's story and Abby's story in the menu or unlocking Abby's story after playing the game. I'm sure this would have made the game a whole lot better for other people out there. For me, personally I don't have a problem with it though. The reason I only have it an 8 is because they did their job. They made us feel hate, violence and horror more than the first game and to be honest I kinda don't wanna feel all of that. The real world is a bit like that and I'm looking for something a little light hearted now. Not saying there isn't light hearted moments in the game, there is and they're one of the best moments in the game but I wish there was more of that. Gameplay: 9/10 - the gameplay is a 100 percent improvement. Basically it's the first game's gameplay with a few tweaks to make it feel more polished and action heavy. There's a Dodge system now that although not game breaking was a good addition specially when engaging with battle with multiple people. The jump mechanic isn't that new in other games but it's certain is for the Last of Us and adds more ways to traverse yourself. There are more items to craft meaning more ways to fight and you can tell the game is more action heavy than the first. Each encounter is like a chess match and you have to careful plan out your tactics or your toast. NPC's actually do some **** now compare to the first game. Talking about the companions here. The game is more open now too and you can explore the ruins of the cities unlike the first game. In the first game you can look around a bit but comparing that to the sequel is just crazy. Of course there are risk very reward choices as exploring this world might mean encountering more problems, infected and savages to fight against but would mean extra items and even some weapons or weapon mods that you would have missed. There are also collectibles too and the card collection thing was actually better than I thought. Disappointed that you can't play with the cards thought.

    Most of the people who hate the game didn't even beat or play the game. Not saying there aren't people who doesn't like the game after playing it but most didn't. There are a lot of people saying they hate the game and won't even play it because of some scenes?? The game got review bomb after only a few hours and it's cleared that they just saw some cutscenes without context and skipped to the ending. Which is pathetic.


    Fun factory: This actually depends on the gamer but if you love the first game you should definitely give this one a try. It has different stroke for different folks ;)    … Expand

Is there any gameplay changes between the first part and the last (except H-l alyx, it's in VR)? Firefight gameplay changed since 2013, and that is obvious. But looking back, I can't deny playing this was a great experience. The gameplay is significantly improved and the world immersion is enhanced. Areas are bigger - there's much more to discover and many more (and more types!) of infected and human factions to go all our guerilla warfare on. I'm excited to get going on my second playthrough (skipping the cinematics this time around).

    This game is a lot to digest. Having said that, there's no denying that, as a horror survival game, this is 10/10. Part 2 brought a good balance of Part 1's silliness to its brutality. At times I was chuckling and feeling the warm fuzzies; other times, I was cringing saying out loud "no, no, no...I don't want to do this. Why are you making me do this!?" All the way throughout, you're tip-toeing around corners praying to God a clicker doesn't jump out of the wall or that a sniper doesn't spot you from a distance. Never have I been so triggered by the sound of a whistle.

    Some reviewers seem hung up on the storyline and are forgetting that beggars can't be choosers. At the end of the day, did you really think Joel selfishly sabotaging a world-saving vaccine would go unpunished? How else did you think a sequel would play out? We got so much more than we asked for. Sure, I'm not super happy about the ending...I like closure...and I wish Ellie could still play the guitar with all five fingers on her left hand...but at the end of the day, I can't deny I enjoyed this and would play it again and again.    … Expand

    First and foremost, Joel's death is hard to swallow, but arguing that it doesn't fit in with the character or the world is dead wrong. Joel has spent four years in relative safety, and he is journeying with his more optimistic and trusting brother Tommy when he is killed. He has made a home within a community, he himself has become more trusting, and the world building makes it clear that, while on patrols, there are encounters with other survivors who are given shelter. Joel makes a split decision to trust somebody instead of fighting an entire horde of infected, which is understandable in this world.

    This act of violence serves as the impetus for the rest of the story, which is in my opinion masterfully told. You play as Ellie, but also for a large portion of the game as Joel's murderer. Other reviewers are finding this problematic, but the story itself is truly two parts of a whole. Ellie becomes more withdrawn and distant through the course of her majority playthrough, and your thought is that it's due to her hollowness as a result of her revenge play. But, after you spend time with Abby, the situation becomes more clear. The vengeance has taken a toll on Ellie, to be sure. But she is also starting to empathize with Joel's killer, leaving her conflicted.

    Halfway through playing as Abby, I began to realize that it is absolutely not a stretch for Joel to be such a villain in Abby's mind. This story fits with the world, and the way Ellie reacts to such a situation is absolutely to honor Joel's memory.

    Obviously, i love this game. i understand some of the criticism as well, but i really think this game needs an open mind. Everyone needs to take a step back and approach this piece of art with the right perspective:

    a) Naughty Dog doesn't owe you anything.
    b) This world is, and always has been unforgiving and life hangs by a thread.
    c) There is a very valid opinion that Joel gets what he deserves, particularly from Abby's perspective.
    d) Calling something "bad writing" just because you disagree with a plot point is not only childish, it's just wrong.

    10/10, this game is better than the original and actually enhances the themes and morality present in Part 1. I'll be playing new game + multiple times.    … Expand

    A sequel that is able to put these well-written characters into extremely challenging conditions and asks the player what they would do differently when put into their shoes. Takes a brave, but understandable risk and gives all the characters no easy way out.

    Love the story, hate the story; that's your opinion. However, you really couldn't convince me that the story isn't moving. That the graphics aren't beautiful. That the characters aren't 'developed' or that the creators didn't upgrade the mechanics. You can dislike the ending, but in my opinion; it was very very fitting and true to the characters. I'm glad I waited 7 years and I would'veLove the story, hate the story; that's your opinion. However, you really couldn't convince me that the story isn't moving. That the graphics aren't beautiful. That the characters aren't 'developed' or that the creators didn't upgrade the mechanics. You can dislike the ending, but in my opinion; it was very very fitting and true to the characters. I have also played the first game multiple times and am a fan of the series like many others. Many people have expressed their anger, resentment, and disappointment with this game on the internet over the last couple of weeks to days. I feel this frustration comes from the game having had major spoilers Leak weeks prior to launch. Many people got key points of what happens given to them without playing the game. I will admit I was upset when I read some of the leaks, (you almost couldn’t be on the internet if you didn’t want to be spoiled). I tried as hard as I could to not spoil too much and let my experience the first time truly be my own. I think the game truly has to be played in its entirety before you can understand what they were trying to do with the story. If you are halfway through playing and write a review you won’t be near where you would feel by the end. The jumps on time and cinematic flashbacks are key to feeling the way you should and cast light to why characters act the way they do. This story is beautiful, dark, gritty, passionate, expansive, and many other words of emotion all jammed into one. MY BIGGEST TAKE AWAY IS YOU CANNOT JUDGE THIS BOOK BY ITS COVER OR MID PAGES, YOU HAVE TO READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY! I so far have disagreed with many of the reviews I’ve heard since the release of the game and I stand by my rating of the game. It truly is a masterpiece but one that you won’t immediately see until completion.… Expand

    Realisticly 8/10. I rated it 10 just to equilibrate for the other troll scores.
    Great game overall. I recommended just play it because it depends a lot in how you get hook by the story (and of course you dont want to get spoiled) especialy if you liked the first game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just love this game. Graphics, lvl design, mechanics and story are stunning. Graphics and mechanics in my feelings are 15//10. Story is not as good as the part 1. There are holes, it cannot be denied, but still... I loved to just "sniff walls" just to admire this attention to details. In my opinion, trying to play someone who just killed character from the previous game is something new, but they did it actually wrong.

    Yes, from our perspective Joel was a hero for us, but what did happen in the Salt Lake City, it turned him into antagonist even in me eyes. Even tho, that Ellie was for him like a daughter. In the other hand, mankind killed his real daughter, so maybe he didn't want to save mankind, because that would be mean the death of his second daughter. No one, except us, didn't know about this, so for Abby and the others he was just a monster.As a fan of part 1, in my opinion, killing Joel so fast was wrong. He should die later in the game. Ellie should pursuit to get revenge for killing Dina. "you think I'd let you do this on your own", should be Joel like in trailer. They should get trapped by Abby in the theatre like in original, and there Joel should die, by what he did to her dad. All the rest of the story should go as it is in the game, except ending. Abby should die, by Ellie's hand.
    I know what ND is trying to do with her. I'm almost sure, they want to make her a main character in part3, what is wrong.

    But, why I gave this game 10/10 you ask? it's simple, There is only one rating, and **** else was just too perfect for me to give it just 10/10 rating. I want games to look like that. Even the best story is nothing when game is looking awful    … Expand

    Finished the game twice.
    The story will seem awful if you are a fan of the main characters of the first game. But if you like plots where the story is true to the lore of the world built by authors then this will be a masterpiece. It stays true to the post apocalyptic world of the last of us.

    The story will seem awful if you are a fan of the main characters of the first game. But if you like plots where the story is true to the lore of the world built by authors then this will be a masterpiece. It stays true to the post apocalyptic world of the last of us.

    The graphics for the most part seems like next gen visuals.

    The gameplay takes cues from mgs 5 and its pretty varied and intense on higher difficulties. Enemies are very aggressive and don't seem dumb on hard and survivor. However i was able to break the AI twice in the game. Gun play feels very good; gun variety is also present. Skill trees although half of them are meaningless, its a welcome addition for replay value on new game plus to completely level up .

    The game length is also decent clocking around 31 hours on my first play through on hard. New game plus is a welcome addition.

    Game also contains extras like concept art and character models if you like those things.

    Performance on the base ps4 launch version was very impressive with almost no frame rate dips. Encountered frame rate issues once but it was gone once the game was restarted.

    Almost zero bugs in the game. Encountered one buggy shimmy animation in my 60 hours with the game.

I'm fully aware of the amount of people who would disagree tremendously so I'll try my best to explain why I believe it to be far superior to these negative remarks by so many. We are all supposed to love Joel. We are supposed to love Ellie. We are supposed to hate Abby. But as the story unfolds, we get early shocking moments. Joel's death left a bad taste in most peoples mouth. One that would ultimately determine the outcry of such hatred from so many beloved fans.
    What Naughty Dog and the team did here was utter brilliance. They told the story the way THEY wanted. Not the way most wanted. But telling your story, no matter the consequences, is something that so many other games, movies, etc. dont do. For fear of backlash like this. Imagine yourself in each person's shoes here. How would we react in this situation? What path would we take?
    Let me just say...I enjoy Joel's character. I enjoy Ellies character. I originally hated Abbys character. That all changed as I got closer to the end. Watching revenge unfold, passion evolve, relationships questioned, I began to see the story in a different light. It was the perfect way to write this vision. Ellie doesn't need Joel to protect her. She has developed into a strong lead more than capable of pursuing her path alone. Her vengeful mission is understandable. Just as Abbys path is equally understandable. All characters involved are filled with greed, selfishness and a sheer lack of consequence. By the end of this game, I learned to not only love and hate each character at times, but to also understand their drive. To understand that if this were a real life event, I too would probably make the same choices. I think what this team did was genius. They took a risk. They reached a point where it didnt matter if it lived up to the original. They had a story to tell and they were gonna tell it. It doesn't matter if it's what the fans ultimately wanted. Why must everyone be so entitled? Why must they cater to everyone? How boring would it be if every game, movie, book, etc. tried to cater to others visions?! As a storyteller, you reach a point when you say "screw it" and tell the story the way it was imagined regardless of the overall opinion. Sure...they might not make a third. But that's ok. With Joel's tragic death, Ellies lustful urge for revenge and Abbys battle to find her place while also seeking revenge, we are left with an ending that was not only tearful and heartbreaking...but also very beautiful. My hat is off to the team for taking this risk and giving us yet again, another brilliant rollercoaster of emotions as we lived through this world they created.    … Expand

    Scenario: Not as charming as the first game, but way more creative. People confuse their anger towards the events with the quality of the scenario, whether you agree or not with the scenarist's choices the writing in this game is great. The story will make you feel all sorts of emotions, will tear you apart and leave you in the dark credits with only a soft guitar rift to process what just happened to you. It's brutal, realistic, and not sugar-coated with Hollywood's ''feel good'' clichés. The story takes liberties and risks to try to be something different rather than going in the fan-pleasing route, as an immense fan of the first installment, I appreciate that.

    I don't want to spoil anything because I think to appreciate the game fully you need to just blindly jump in it, but please give this game the chance it deserves and play through the entire thing and come here to give it an honest score.

    We need to counter all those crazy people blinded by rage who are trying to review-bomb this game without even playing it or, just as bad, by giving it a 0/10, completely ignoring the incredible graphical work, music, sound design, animation, bug testing and actor performances that went into this game because they didn't like the scenario. Even a story-driven game is more than just a story, they hurt the entire single-player story-driven game market by doing that and it worries me that companies will decide the battle royal genre or buggy, repetitive and cliché annual franchises are the only games worth investing in.

    In short: An incredible game wasted on the worst gamer generation in history, blinded by hype, story leaks, and their own idea of what the story should be. (also, it pains me to say this, even homophobia)

    The combat is brutal and satisfying, the environments beautiful yet haunting and the score is masterfully crafted, but the greatest achievement of TLoU2 is its harrowing story of loss and revenge. This game easily lives up to its 2013 predecessor and may even be the greatest game of the PlayStation console to date. A 10/10 masterpiece.

    Gamer argentino de toda la vida, habiendo pasado el juego en dificil :

    Apartado tecnico: Gráficos excelentes, al nivel que se espera de un juego con este presupuesto. Pero lo que eleva esta categoria a la perfeccion es el diseño artistico de las locaciones a lo largo del juego, cada una con personalidad, con una historia que se cuenta sola a traves del diseño del lugar. Santaolalla la descoce con la musica (a quien le sorprende?), y los efectos sonoros son un diez , de hecho el escuchar con atención al enemigo y descrifar los sonidos que te rodean es fundamental para avanzar en ciertas partes.

    Gameplay /Jugabilidad:
    Más allá de la historia, al final del dia este es el punto que define si uno la pasa bien con el juego o no, y The Last Of Us 2 tiene varios de los momentos jugables mas emocionantes que jamás jugaste. No reinventa nada, más bien refina el sistema de control, el sigilo y los combates que vimos en la primer parte. Cada combate , ya sea contra infectados o humanos, es distinto porque la ubicacion, iluminacion , y el equipo con el que llegas a ese momento es distinto. Un consejo y a la vez una critica: jugalo en dificil, cualquier nivel inferior es un paseo y quita la tensión de saber manejarte con lo poco que uno tiene para defenderse. Otros detalles que no me gustaron del todo: el boton de salto es medio inútil, y el cambio de armas e inventario con los botones de direccion es un poco lento y falla en los momentos más agitados. Las partes de plataformas y con la cuerda parecen agregados a ultimo momento, no suman mucho. Pero nada aburre. Los bosses del juego son de lo mejor que vi en un videojuego en años, los stalkers y los shamblers se roban cada momento en el que aparecen, las peleas contra humanos requieren una combinacion perfecta entre sigilo, rapidez de acción e ingenio, y los puzzles y la investigacion de las locaciones son una buena distraccion entre tanta tensión.

    Historia/Guion:
    Hay mucho que decir y a la vez poco. Y prefiero decir poco ya que cada uno va a sentir el guion o no, tratar de explicar el porque me gusto es medio en vano. Pero me encantó. La trama (Que NO es solamente venganza) , los personajes, los giros , todo tiene un punto fuerte y a la vez una zona gris inmensa para que uno pueda debatir consigo mismo al respecto. Hay ciertos momentos donde el ritmo narrativo decae un poco, en particular con Abby (la quieras o la odies, hacia el final de su parte uno extraña a ellie y dina), y los constantes flashbacks hacen que sea muy fácil perderse detalles que luego pesan al tratar de entender todo. Pero la mayor parte del juego son momentos que te dejan con la boca abierta, y creeme que hay una diferencia abismal entre jugarlo y verlo a traves de videos cortados en youtube. El final es un resumen de ese sentimiento entre lo claro de los hechos que están pasando frente a tus ojos y lo "gris", lo ambiguo del fondo. Epico.
    Un punto final acerca de esto: no lo juzgues sino es bajo la optica de que es una narrativa dentro de un videojuego, esto no es Game of Thrones ni Stars Wars, ni tampoco el Padrino II, el videojuego como medio para contar una historia todavia tiene mucho camino por recorrer y Naughty Dog marco un hito acerca de como calzar el valor narrativo con el jugable, más allá de lo que sientas acerca del guión.    … Expand

The graphics are incredible and the story is near perfect. Yeah the combat is clunky but that's just Naughty Dog. Thats literally all of there games. What I would have done was end it at the farm. The whole Santa Barbara part seems like it makes no sense. But in a way it really does tie the whole story and message together. And for those complaining she's gay your clearly not fans cause she was gay in the first one. And complaining about a small character being trans is just stupid. If you loved the first one you'll love this one. I don't think there has ever been a peice of art or really anything that has made me cry and feel like this. It's just amazing.… Expand

    I am a pc gamer with an rtx 2080ti and have seen nothing like the quality of this, how it has been done I have no idea.

    If you liked the last of us, you will love this.

    People have picked holes in the story, review bombed it, made it sound like it's a woke, transgender fan film.
    The story is deep, thrilling and engaging and none of the above. it's smart, slick and thought provoking just like the original.
    I can't tell how much you need to play this game, if you haven't already.
    I think it would be impossible to get the same reaction as the first game as it was so original and caught many, including myself unawares and blew us away.

When I started the game and realised that these characters would be rarely seen together of course I was upset. What some people who criticize the game don't seem to understand is that is the point and while I understand that people don't really want to be upset that doesn't mean that this game is bad. Art can still be good without making you feel good. Though that's not to say that the game never makes you feel good, there are plenty of likeable characters and happy scenes in the game and the banter between the characters while you explore is entertaining. The game makes you feel bad to very effectively present a message about the cycle of violence and how violence is pointless and in the end achieves nothing which is highlighted every well by some of the criticisms about the ending of the game which highlights this well. While I'm on the topic of the ending, I have a few issues with that but there more just thoughts rather than solid criticism as I'm not sure if I think the ending was the best it could be although it definitely wasn't bad. I feel like it was what I wanted to happen but not what the character would have done. This is because of the very clever way that the game uses character swapping to present you with the 'villains' point of view which gives you an understanding of both sides whereas the characters only understand their own side. This is another part that got heavily criticised mainly due to the leaks so people decided they didn't like it without the nesacery context. At first I felt the same, I thought I could never like that character and I was right, whilst some people did like them in the end personally I didn't but that doesn't matter cause I understood them which is all that I needed to engage in the story the way naughty dog intended. Although whilst I loved the story I can understand why some people didn't like it as it tries to make you feel both guilty for what you've done and sad about what has happened you could argue that they went a little bit to far but personally I thought is was great. I mentioned at the start how Joel and Ellie's relationship doesn't take centre stage but this was not abandoned and still is important in the story and the scenes that do keep this going are great. Whilst dissapointed at first by this change in direction in the end I was glad to get this rather than more of the same.

    The gameplay is fun and looks good. It all works smoothly. While it may not develop much the context as well as the upgrades and different environments are enough to make it feel fresh. The big spaces where the combat takes place allow for a surprising amount of freedom as to how how to tackle the scenario for such a linear game which is definitely appreciated. The combat is a mixture of tense stealth which can suddenly all go wrong and it now changes to a frantic battle for survival and I enjoyed the combat till the end. Exploration doesn't evolve but your thinking about the story or the interesting notes you can find or the dialogue between characters to keep you occupied and the environments are interesting. The graphics are obviously amazing as is to be expected from naughty dog as is the voice acting and animation both in and out of cutscences. The soundtrack is also brilliant, one of the best in video games, it definitely plays a big role in making sure the emotional beats hit in the most powerful way they can.

    SUMMARY Positives:
    A great story (that goes in a differnt direction to part 1 without abandoning what was good about the first game as a great sequel should) that is brilliantly and creatively told, that provokes both strong emotion and meaningful thoughts about violence and if it can ever achieve anything. Although it makes you feel negative emotions quite alot and doesn't go the way that is expected after the first game which could drive some players away, if approached with an open mind most people should really love this story.

    Graphics, animation, voice acting and sound track are all top quality and the gameplay is fun whilst also developing the characters, messages, story and the world in a brilliant way and I never got bored of it.

    Negatives:
    The game tries very hard to make you feel guilty, sad, uncomfortable and makes you question yourself quite alot. This tendency to make the player feel bad can understandably drive off some players and you could argue that they went a bit to far although I personally thought it was genius.

    Overall this brilliant, creative and thought provoking story woven seamlessly with the exploration and exciting combat makes an experience that while not for everyone, is definitely a must play    … Expand

    Wow so much people reviembombing the game, i just finished it and i found out it was a **** great game. I personally get bored on the first one but finished it a couple months later and finally loved it. At the end IMO if you are looking for a strong game just get it, best ps4 graphics and lightning and details plus a strong story. You don't like it? just sell-it but give it a try first, you will not be disapointed imo. Personnaly got 0 bugs in a 35hours gameplay. On the down side i can say the story have some lenghts and all the characters are not as interesting as Ellie or Abby.… Expand

    Graphics, gameplay and frame rate are good. The story was twisted and depressing. This game had too much drama for my taste. The first game had drama but ended on a positive note. this one could’ve been so different but the writers chose a different path than I would have.

    The weapons return realistic feedback, even better are the melee encounters, really satisfying!

    Punctual background music, never too intrusive, create the right emotion in every situation.

    Directing, photography, acting and dubbing, to say the least, superative, naughty dog ​​has set new standards for the future of video games.

    Only note for the puzzles, in the long run they are repetitive and predictable. This is truly the only limit for this immense game.

A genuinely amazing story, with fantastic gameplay, interesting characters, and a terrifying setting that you must constantly fight through. The final decision Joel had to make was powerful and impactful. This sequel is not that.

    If I were rating this as a stand alone game completely disregarding any premise of story prior, and not experiencing the gameplay of The Last of Us, it would probably be a solid 5 or 6 out of 10. The problem is that this story feels like it completely derails the story the first game had. When we finished the first game we saved Ellie, and lied to her about the fireflies. This could have been a great way to build up the second game. We could have had the two search for a cure themselves, and if the writers wanted Joel to die it could have come at the end of the game or near the end of the game. Ellie could have found out that Joel had lied about the fireflies, Abby could have been in a group of fireflies that heard about Ellie, and hunted Joel down. Ellie and Joel have a big fight, and they split up only for Ellie to hear gunfire, and find Joel dying at the hands of Abby. Then, Ellie has to fight and come to terms with the fact that she cared deeply for Joel, but his lying and protection of herself jeopardizes the fate of the world. Something along those lines could have been fantastic and very well executed. We could have played the parts as Abby prior to this to build up her character and motivations for doing what she does. It could have been an amazing sequel to an already amazing game.

    We didn't get that though. We got a sloppy, poorly executed story. Joel dies very, very early on. We have no build up for this Abby character, and then are expected to play as her? That is insanity. Why in gods name would I want to play as a character who just killed an incredibly beloved character? This could have been circumvented so easily if the game had you play as Abby in the beginning and turn her into a character we cared about as well, but it doesn't. Instead we get a horrible impression of her immediately, have to suffer through playing as her, which then feels like a chore because we already dislike her, and then we are expected to believe Ellie just forgives her in the end. It's sloppy. It's not a good story. It doesn't captivate me. It made me frustrated to even play the game.

    Now I'm very critical of stories in games, because it's the main reason I'm playing them. The gameplay was still good, but it felt very lazy because it was like a copy and paste of the first game's gameplay. While it's not a bad thing considering I already spending 50+ hours on the last of us, spending more time doing the exact same stuff starts to feel tedious and boring. I wish they did more to change up or add some new interesting mechanics to spice it up a bit. It really could have turned this review into at least a 5/10 if the gameplay was able to bring more enjoyment to the game itself. The graphics and sound design were beautiful, it's just too bad that graphics and sound design don't mean anything if your game isn't up to snuff.    … Expand

You don’t have to like the developing of the story to rate a 30 hours+ game full of great gameplay, incredible animations, and amazing acting. It is a masterpiece even if you don’t like the story. Just because the story isn’t what you expected and wanted, it doesn’t mean that it deserves hate or a 0, a 3 or a 4. How much of an obvious storyline would have been if it was just a new adventure showing all over again the relationship between Ellie and Joel? It is done to show you that, in a post-pandemic world where 3/4 of the population have been decimated, no one is safe, no matter how hard you try to survive. You have to be aware that everything you want to do or to share with your friends, your family or the people you love, you must do it as soon as you can, ‘cause every moment you spend with ‘em, could just be the last one.… Expand

    The first half of the game's story is great, but fell way off in the second half. More specifically, in the second half the flashbacks are extremely overused and most times pull you away from intriguing scenes before they conclude. The gameplay however, with the new types of infected and there even being boss fights with infected who's new abilities caught me way off guard, is pretty damn thrilling. Overall, this is a good game that was unfortunately still disappointing because of how much better the first one was, which for me personally created an unmet expectation for this sequel. The story at the beginning makes you feel hate towards a person, and flips it completely with making you care and love every character, which makes the end just more suspenseful.     I can't believe so many people are hating on this game, clearly the hate mostly consists to come from butthurt teenage boys that probably haven't experienced life and the most painful thing that's ever happened to them is no wi-fi. They enhanced much more than the first game, with new mechanics and challenges. Better AI and of course new enemies with bug environments allowing you to be stealthy or aggressive with the amount of the room. Graphics are amazing and they did have some pretty cool levels. A couple of nice characters that were built upon. I do like Dina’s and Ellie’s relationship just wish it was more explored on. Cool zombie types, and love how bloaters we’re aggressive. Now with the main issues of the game. Joel’s death was disrespected, with him going out of character (even after 4 years I’m sure they would play it safe just as Tommy). That’s what bothers everyone. The character who built upon in the first game was spat on with a horrible death. He deserved a fitting end. If that’s a small issue you naughty dog it’s not since they should know how to Deliver a character’s beginning and end. The story was a huge mess, they way of how naughty dog structure it was painful and disappointing. Making you play Abby after the death acne of Jeese feels way worse and Joel’s killer. Trying to build empathy for her but we all had hatred towards her which was a horrible way of delivery on how the story was structured. Actually no the game forces you to like Abby, which is a horrible way showing the aftermath of this. There was no need to make the player have to play her as of how the game was structured. Abby felt very unrealistic, she shouldn’t have muscle like that and no I’m not saying that every women doesn’t have the ability to gain that. No I’m saying she shouldn’t have big muscles like that since it’s a zombie apocalyptic world we’re I’m sure they don’t have much food like that since there’s few resources just as every other supply. Ellie feels out of character in game just as Joel’s death, when we get to her beating Nora, she doesn’t feel as much pissed off as she was when she was killing David. Yes I understand they were both different situations but I felt it could’ve been handled better. David wanted to chop Ellie, but Nora was a person who stood along side with Joel’s death. Ellie should’ve hit Nora interrupting as she spoke of her immune system, making her talk, showing how mad she is, of how badly she wants this revenge. This game was made to be hatred as the first was love. But we don’t feel hatred from Ellie, just hatred from the fans of this game. Not to mention of how we don’t see Nora getting beaten up but we see Joel getting clubbed. Shows a bigger disrespect to the character. There’s not enough character development other than Ellie (a bit). We were also given the most unnecessary sex scene, no need to have that. Ellie didn’t feel as much emotional during the aftermath of Joel, which is what bothered me, along with Tommy. Not to mention the ending, it destroys Ellie, this isn’t a game of hatred or revenge anymore. Doesn’t even feel like a Last Of Us Game. It was about survival, now it’s about killing people and having sexual acts along with pointless events. This game is the biggest F U to the fans. Majority of the fans are going to pretend this never happened, everything could’ve been delivered better within the story. So far it’s the biggest F U to the fans and the company. I know Naughty Dog won’t survive this lost, not just because of the people who left the project, but the amount of disappointing fans. Creator of Naughty Dog, basically had sexual intercourse with every fan which did not give consent. Wish I did read the leaks, this made my brother having to suffer to fix the PS4, and buy The Last Of Us Part 2 twice due to issues of the PS4. As us fans get a F U from naughty dog, we give one back but one much harder. Never again to trust them and buy a product from them.… Expand

You can't help but think the creators wanted to force every agenda in the past decade into a game. You betcha they would of loved to have included the BLM movement in there somehow.

    Poor dialogue, poor storytelling, characters from the first behave differently in second.
