There's also Abby's rugged demeanour , which is deftly woven into xer characterisation- xer personal philosophy draws heavily from City of Thieves iterature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this writing, to realise that they're not just deep- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Abby's character truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the mystery in Abby's existential catchphrase "Guess," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Neil Druckmann's genius writing itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Abby sex scene tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

It is not a clever plot twist, it is a lazy tactic that requires no real thought. What is the audience expecting to happen? Well let's have Brandon stark be king. You make a revenge game where some one murders hundreds of thousands of people just to get a chance to get revenge against the person who beat and tortured your loved one to death. Then call it a day right when you get a chance to kill them. Cause 1001 bodies is too many. Not to mention why would ellie drop everything to go murder this person not once but twice. Risking her life, jeopardizing her relationship, and threatening retaliation on every one she loved. Makes no sense. Expand

This is one of those games where a sequel should not exist. Yet, it's here. The trailer for this game pointed a story in a completely different direction, should I say misleading? So, how should I rate this game? What is this game even about?

It is a game where gamers are more interested in the story rather than the gameplay itself although the two are pretty close. Yes, the graphics and combat are high up there, but that is to be EXPECTED since it's a sequel. What needs to match up is the story! And that is where it falls apart.

I do not care about the situation behind the writing of this game, what they presented is all that matters. And what's presented is garbage. It is a story of duality, one where Ellie is on a supposed downtrodden revenge quest while Abby learns to sympathize others(??). Some critics say that Ellie's quest hurt those around her YET, her friends are the ones that THEY THEMSELVES go with her. Abby's companions are persuaded by Abby herself...

Imagine seeing a revenge story UNFULFILLED. It's like watching John Wick not killing the last person or something. Also, a game with flashbacks within flashbacks is not a good story. Ending the game with a flashback is not a good story.

It may not be as good as the first, but it isn't as horrible as everyone is making it out to be. personally, i'd say it's definitely worth a play through because its still hella fun and u might be taken by surprise if u play it urself rather than watch a streamer complain the whole time.
That being said there are some issues with the game, mainly pacing and some story parts are kinda pointless - but it's better to experience it urself and come to ur own conclusion rather than some angry gamer ranting on the internet without true justification.

The backlash to this game has been deflating, to say the least. Having finished it recently, I've spent almost every moment since thinking about its story. Judging by the metacritic score, even the people who hate this game clearly care enough to review-bomb it with this kind of passion. If nothing else, this stands as a testament to the lasting influence of the first game.

While I disagree with most of the complaints I've read about this game's story, I certainly have a few gripes with the gameplay:

The combat is thrilling, an asymetric game of cat and mouse that leaves me feeling both vulnerable and unstoppable. Every weapon feels devastating. Scrambling around each battleground diving for cover and flanking enemies never gets old. If the rumors of this game getting post-launch multiplayer end up being true, I'd be ecstatic.

Gathering supplies, on the other hand, always feels like a chore instead of the treasure hunt I wish it was. It's something I'd like to skip, but the scarcity of crafting materials means you're always short on something essential.

That said, exploration itself is engaging thanks to the environmental storytelling. There are so many details tucked away that flesh out the game's world. I recall one bulletin board post in Jackson City asking if anyone had a child's coat to spare, implying someone's child has lost theirs. Below that posting, on a yellow sticky note, is a message from Dina demanding that whoever stole this kid's coat better give it back or else. It's a great expression of her character that's easily missed, but if you pay attention, there are dozens of details just like it scattered around the world.

Which is why it's really annoying when you try opening a door or squeezing through a passageway hoping to explore a side room, only to get railroaded into a cutscene that locks you out of the previous area. Everything in the game looks natural, which is great, but it means going down "the story path" is often an accident instead of a choice. The autosave feature activates frequently, meaning you have a chance of missing valuable supplies and collectibles through no fault of your own.

Graphically, the game is gorgeous, which I don't think anyone really disagrees with. The animations, however, do so much work in fleshing out each character that I cannot understand those who argue that they're underdeveloped. The quality of the motion capture technology means every nuance in each actor's performance is portrayed beautifully in the game. Every facial tic, every sidelong glance, it all expresses a wealth of inner dialogue that simply wouldn't be possible otherwise.

And that's about as far as I can go without talking about the story. The Last of Us Part 2 is, on the surface, a story about revenge. Every major action in the game is a reaction to some sin that came before it, stemming from arguably the greatest sin in this game's universe: Joel's choice to save Ellie and doom the rest of mankind. Those who played the first game know that, while they may not agree with Joel's decision, they know him enough to understand why he had to make it.

In saving Ellie, Joel saves himself from losing his humanity. He also, however, robs Ellie of the meaning she desperately needed her life to have. Joel's lie to her, that her immunity meant nothing, was the key choice that made the ending so memorable. We know Joel has done something unforgivable. We know that the consequences for his decision will likely be devastating. And for seven years, we've had to live with the question of what those consequences would turn out to be.

As of this writing, 47,676 metacritic users are upset enough about how those consequences played out that they're comparing The Last of Us Part 2 to season 8 of Game of Thrones: A conclusion so poorly executed that it retroactively ruins all that came before.

And the thing is, it's hard to argue with that. My experience with this game left me depressed, exhausted, and haunted. The consequences of Joel's decision are as brutal as they are inevitable, and The Last of Us Part 2 asks us to play, often unwillingly, as characters who are unable to avoid ruining their lives and the lives of those they care about. Every sacrifice and victory from the first game is paid back in the second with tragedy and heartbreak. Even this game's few moments of brightness are overshadowed by the coming storm.

    And yet.

I believe that everything that happens in this game could not have happened any other way. That The Last of Us Part 2 refuses to pretend that Joel's trauma would not somehow infect Ellie and everyone else around him is a massive credit in its favor. The story's job isn't to give Joel and his loved ones a happy ending. The story's job is to explore how that trauma is passed down through each character and whether or not they can escape it before it destroys them completely.

I believe it succeeds in that goal. I give this game a 10 out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This game has great gameplay and some of the best acting, animations, sound design, graphics and immersion that gaming has ever seen. However the story is one gigantic mess and it sh**s all over your favorite characters from the main game and features some GoT Season 8 Character Logic.

And even if you ignore the terrible intro (which is by far the biggest fu**up i have ever seen any devs do) the game still isn't great. There are massive pacing issues with multiple moments that are extremely slow and boring, and HALF the game is literally nothing but constant Flashbacks. (it even has a flashback inside of a flashback) Does anyone actually like flashbacks?

What makes these flashbacks even worse is that the first set of flashbacks remind you of what this game could have been, and then in the second set of flashbacks that stretch around 8-10 hours, you are playing as a completely different character while the game tries to justify the events of the intro.
While i understood the reasons and didn't necessary HATE this new playable character, i still had no interest in playing as them.

I was so tired and bored of playing as that character so i straight up stopped exploring and just wanted to speedrun through it so i could STOP playing as that goddamn character and go back to the actual main game, until i ofcourse realized that was the main game and i finished the game.

There are so many different paths that Naughty Dog could have gone down with when making this game and for some reason they took the most non-logical and straight up stupid path. They could have made this into a brand new game that had nothing to do with Last Of Us and still been able to create this exact experience, except it would have been a phenomenal game.

And for being a post apocalyptic zombie game there sure are very little Zombies and way too many romantic scenes... There is nearly 0 focus on the infected in this game which is a damn shame because every encounter is incredible.

I am very disappointed in Naughty Dog for ruining THE number 1 story game of all time.

The only way to enjoy this game is to never play the first one and know absolutely nothing about the characters.

After falling in love with Joel and Ellie in the first game, Part 2 introduces us to the unlikable, ugly, and outright evil Abby, who tortures and kills Joel in the beginning of the game. Then the game forces you to play as this unrealistically buff woman as the second protagonist.

Perfect visuals and highly customizable difficulty and accessibility options of the game do not mitigate the horribly written story with no character development. Ellie and Joel act out of character, which makes this game feel like a stupid fan-fiction, created to convey woke political messages.

It's basically structured in an annoying way that each session of the main quest is divided by a recollection of past events, where the gameplay gets very boring due to their interactive-fiction-esque nature. When it comes to the main quest, it's not always exciting either, for some of the looting-centric explorations and combat encounters are separated entirely...

Overall, the game has very interesting gameplay mechanics, but this strongest suit of it is wasted due to the pacing issues caused by the poor story itself, and its decision to introduce Abby as another playable character is so wrong, not only because story-wise, players cannot relate to her, but also because by the time of Abby's main quest kicks in, the game will have dragged far too long and hence there comes a strong sense of repetition.

The strength and weakness of this game is it's story and how it goes about telling it. The slave brains who hate it because of the spoiler that I am sure everyone knows, the early death. They are giving the low grade because of that, and how significant the game has changed.

It is more than just a game, it is a very immersive game with lots of character building. That is also the downfall. It isn't like the first, it is rarely run and gun, you spend the majority of the time crouched and looting, then to all of the sudden be dropped into a situation where you have been careful until the developers make you go through some hole in the wall or down an embankment where you have no place to return and then thrown into a fight where most of your resources you painstakingly gathered for is now gone. Secondly, bring your phone because this game is cut scene to death, so much so that you have to take part in playable cut screens where, if you don't care to get to know the characters and just want to finish, this is frustrating and annoying. Downside is, this is how you care about the characters, and if you don't then you miss the entire point of the game.

Plus side, controls are great, new infected are great, the ai is a bit smarter when it comes to chasing you down but dumb as a brick when they find a body and you are nearby. The environments are astonishing, one of the best out there, small things you might miss with sound from the tv not headphones and you will miss, worth investing in headphones for that reason.

In the end, the story basically tries to tell you an eye for an eye leaves the world blind. If life gives you a second chance don't waste it. The apocalypse, no one is safe, not even your hero because in the end, everyone dies. The end though being, for the characters, do you want to spend your time seeking revenge when in the end no one wins, or move on with your life to make the best of it.

I will and do replay part 1, I will not replay part 2 simply because of the time invested in cut scenes. If you want a cookie cutter of part 1 skip, if you want to enjoy a story, a slow long drag you feet story, then this is the one for you.

Terrible game. Attempts badly to impose unpopular liberal ideologies on the gamer. Terrible story, with great graphics and game mechanics. Such a waste. Also nobody cares about all that lgbtq crap anymore. If you want to live a perverted life then go for it. Don’t push that crap on the majority of the population who doesn’t care at all about it.

Imo they managed to turn one of the greatest stories in gaming into a boring (but cringe inducing and gore-filled) and poorly written revenge romp with no subtlety. Be prepared - they're gonna beat you over the head with their message that "violence and revenge bad" but they're not doing it well. Actually struggled to finish it as opposed to the first where I could barely put it down for weeks even after my first playthrough.

Felt nothing for Abbys crew and her story as by the time i got there I just didnt care, the build wasnt done anywhere near as well and the brutality of the world was well known.

Even the parts as Ellie were just a lonesome grueling slog, making me feel even less for her as the story and good works in 1 were undone with plotholes and unbelievable actions.
I now kinda regret saving her in the first - Not because of the lack of cure and everything that happened after, but purely because of who ND turned her into in the sequel.

Masterpiece. I wasn’t sure I wanted a sequel, but they pulled it off. You have to understand in the first game that Joel is not a good guy but like everyone else a shade of grey. The consequences of this create a plot with huge depth; and those who claim a lack of respect for the character are missing the point that the whole game is about him.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing The Last of Us, I knew it was going to be hard for Naughty Dog to successfully write a meaningful sequel to it. While TLOU2 didn't quite match the same level of perfection as the original, it was still truly a masterpiece that sent me through an emotional rollercoaster. Before getting into the story, I'd like to address the other aspects of the game beforehand. First off the visuals. The graphics in this game are downright some of the most impressive I have ever seen and no doubt pushed my PS4 to the max (my PS4 literally sounded as if it was going to explode while running the game). The most impressive part is that the game ran buttery smooth throughout my whole 24-hour playthrough.
Next up, the gameplay. While remaining very similar at heart to the original, TLOU2 fine-tuned the mechanics to the point where there was nothing to complain about. The game includes many different and unique animations for takedowns and melee so the combat never feels stale. Allowing Ellie to go prone to sneak through the grass also adds another layer of strategy to the game that only further improves the gameplay. ND also improved the enemy AI to make them much smarter and aware of the environment. They even make callouts when they spot you and converse with each other using each one of their unique names. Some enemies also have dogs patrolling with them, which makes some situations more challenging and satisfying when you take them out. The layout of the terrain is also strategically placed so that the user can take multiple routes for each enemy encounter.
Now onto the voice acting. The acting in this game has got to be the best I've ever seen in a video game. Multiple times through the game I almost forgot that I was playing a video game because it feels like you're watching a movie. The facial expressions are also extremely realistic.
Finally, the most important part (and most controversial), the story. I'm not gonna lie, the story went neither the way I expected nor wanted. The fact that Joel got brutally murdered by Abby so early on completely enraged me and made me, like Ellie, want to do anything in my power to get revenge. For the first half of the game, you travel throughout the beautifully crafted and larger than expected city of Seattle. While I explored every nook and cranny of Seattle, there were many small but beautiful moments to experience. The one that stood out the most was the part in the music shop when Ellie grieves over Joel and starts to play his song (Future Days by Pearl Jam), but has to stop because she gets too sad, but then proceeds to play Take On Me and bonds with Dina. It's the little moments like this that really make this game special. After this, the game continues down Ellies' path for revenge until she finally runs into Abby, the extremely buff lady that ruthlessly killed Joel. At this point, you're about halfway through the game. Before you can find out what happens, the game forces you to play as Abby for the next 10 hours, which seemed to be a little bit too long for me, but I understand ND's intentions. While playing as Abby you go through a series of flashbacks and finally find out her motives for killing Joel. After I found out that her father was the doctor that Joel mindlessly impaled a scalpel through their throat, I finally realized the reasons behind Abby's actions. I honestly felt like they were justified. I mean if my father was a great guy who was trying to create a cure that could alter the course of history and save humanity, got murdered, I'd want to get revenge too. Now for the ending, I was actually satisfied with it. It shows that Ellie has finally come to terms with the death of Joel and realizes that killing Abby won't make her situation any better and that nothing will come out of it other than more sorrow. This is a game about revenge and loss. Ellie and Abby’s urge for revenge left them both alone in the end and Ellie pitying Abby finally breaks this cycle, albeit she lost two fingers.
In the end, Ellie is left alone, Dina has left her, and Joel is gone forever. Due to Ellie seeking revenge one final time, she lost her perfect life and has made it impossible for her to play gee-tar anymore, which was her one way to remember Joel.
I know this game isn't the happy loving/bonding story we got in the first game, but I believe it’s being unjustly hated on. I feel like people are failing to understand that this game is about perspective and how there are no good guys and depending on how you look at it, anyone can be seen as the bad guy. Ellie and Abby are actually very similar characters that both have motives for their actions, we just see Ellie as the good guy since we followed her story in the first game. Had TLOU been about Abby and her father, then we’d hate Joel and want him dead at all costs. This is a beautiful game that played with my emotions like no game has ever done before and definitely deserves the title of a Masterpiece.

It’s high quality but the story missed the mark. I genuinely have never been so disappointed and miserable playing a game. The goal was to make you empathize with Abby and by the end you should have understood why Ellie let her go. It simply failed to do that. Parts of the game were way too drawn out or just didn’t even need to be included. Of course there were parts of the game that I enjoyed but I did not enjoy it as much as I could have. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is visually interesting at is says. The game play mechanic is superb compared to the previous chapter, it has definitely evolved. However, the story is pure SJW propaganda and I don't understand why they have to implement this belief into an apocalyptic theme. I paid 90 AUD just to witness a man I adored since the previous game, die in an unnecessary death caused by an unknown stranger. The Last of Us franchise is a story about the progression between Ellie and Joel, and that was the reason why I was a die-hard for the Last of Us series. The flashbacks were the only good scene where I wholeheartedly enjoyed. Regarding back to the spoilers, I never saw the leaks nor I heard about it. I blindly played through the first 2 hours and see that one of my beloved character has died. That made me become frustrated for the entire sequence. If we paid attention to the details, Joel would never ever show his real name to anyone. He lived throughout his life for 20 years not trusting anyone before he could meet Ellie. The story about Abby felt forced, killing Joel so early in the game was extremely lazy directing. It would make no difference as during the last chapter of the first game, Fireflies has announced that there are several immune people and none of them were been able to create a cure. Killing Ellie might not able to find a cure, and Joel literally has one thing to live for, the existence of Ellie after losing Sarah in the first game. The world took everything from Joel, so he took everything from the world. One of the key things of paying so much attention in the previous game is that, you will notice so many major flaws that the director just ignored. It is like, after 7 years of waiting, they have entirely forgotten about the entire story of the first game. I finished playing the Last of Us 2 and I have to say, Neil Duckman literally just massacred the franchise.

The reason why this rating is 10/10 is because I would like to send a message for the people who blindly rated Tlou2 as a good review. After reading numerous reviews regarding about the game-plays, not one has spoken about how the story was written. It makes me believe that they haven't even played the first game yet, and none of them has recognize the father and daughter relationship that made the game a masterpiece in the first place. If only Joel died protecting his only child in the end, then again I might like this game. But no, they went the opposite way. As a supporter of the LGBT community, how the story was written out is unnecessary, and in fact. I would rate this game 3/10 for stunning visual appearance.

I really genuinely did but a revenge story without the revenge isn't just depressing but it's also pointless and it does a disservice to both the fans and all the characters in the story.

Not only does Ellie not get her revenge she also loses both Dina and JJ, both her and Tommy are now permanently disfigured because of there efforts and so now Ellie has literally lost everything. She literally has nothing to show for her efforts. She achieves nothing and she learns nothing and as someone who loved the original game I can't recommend this game unless you want to have the original game ruined for you.

The cycle of events and the main motivation of the characters closes perfectly and shows that in this world there is no side of good or side of evil. .. Everybody is a human being trying to survive ... The end took me out of sadness, but as there is a gap I am imagining that the following events would be good! I loved the protagonists, especially Abby, finally a game with feminine protagonism where the woman breaks zombie in the punch, survives and does great things without having to be sexualized. Good for those who did not like the story of the two one: 1 prejudiced little **** 2 does not enjoy stories focused on feelings and that do not have infallible protagonism and a happy or pleasant ending. and a grand finale, that things always work out for the guy, but surprise, that doesn't happen in an apocalyptic world of humans. One of the best games I’ve played yet. Big fan of the first TLOU. Don’t know where all the hate is coming from. If she were in just heterosexual relationship, they wouldn’t be saying that this game is “poor writing”. Or maybe they don’t like the game because a certain protagonist got killed. I don’t know why that doesn’t make sense to some people. Made perfect sense to me. Has nothing to do with storytelling because the story is f*cking stellar. The acting and graphics are top notch. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. They don’t know **** Expand

Incredible performances, incredible graphics and detail, incredible gaming moments I’ll never forget. The Last of Us Part II is a story experience unlike anything I’ve played before and has, without a doubt, risen the bar for what gaming can be- just as it’s predecessor did seven years ago.

This game is dope . If you liked the first one ... most likely you will love this one . It’s a part two . One thing I’m sad about is it’s not as “cinematic” as the trailers they showed in e3 , but !!!! I’m still having a great time with it .. the story is compelling... I’ve almost beat it .. I mean .. it’s a fantastic game . One of the best I’ve ever played . People need to grow up .This game is dope . If you liked the first one ... most likely you will love this one . It’s a part two . Some parts of the story made me cry . I just wish we had better hardware so that the game could be more cinematic... other than that it’s an amazing game . But maybe wait till it drops in price as ps4 games tend to do Expand

Soo reading and watching a lot of reviews, and also playing the game to the end my thoughts and feelings for this game is definitely mixed especially playing abi after she kills two characters. I loved the gameplay and graphics. Loved the cutscenes and more so loved the emotion behind ellies character. But as soon as you play abi, oh damn I hated it and I just wanted to stop playing but I forced myself despite hating and "accidentally" killing myself as her a few times lol. I got to the point where there was a flashback for Abi with her father ad the one where she rushed in to the room where Joel kills her father I immediately took an understanding as to why she killed Joel. But here's the thing I felt forced emotionally to feel sympathy for her and why she did the things she did. So I kept playing having a sense of enjoyment but still a load of hate for this one character. The whole story is about revenge obviously. But starting to actually look at it as revenge story for both Ellie and abi. Overall there is three key parts in the game that I really had a distaste for. One was Ellie killing the dog (fair enough I killed a lot of dogs in this game, sorta reminds me of old tomb raider ps1/2 days) but the one dog the games legit gets you a emotional connection with. Then second is when you beat Ellie almost to death and then almost kill dina. Ohhh why did it force me to go through this trauma. I just really agonised over this for a few hours. Then thirdly the farm seen with jj and dina and Ellie living happily ever after or not for Ellie ptsd destroyed Ellie and it throws you into an emotional whirlwind and makes you think crap this feels like an ending that I really don't want to see. But thankfully the story goes on for another 1/2hour but it felt rushed like seriously rushed. I had the same feeling with ff15 ending. I get why she left abi alive but I also felt empty at this point. And felt so much mental and emotional damage at this point for both characters I didn't even wanna fight. Now I actually love the game but I have so much mixed and **** up feelings for it. And putting myself into both ellies and abis shoes I understood why they both did or didn't do the things they did. This game gives me a whole feeling of walking dead vibe when neegan is first introduced, you hate the mother **** for killing peeps but then at certain points the show tries to make you love him (tbf I really do love neegan) but that's the feeling I get that naughty dog tried to do with the whole abi revenge plot but it sorta fails in a way because it makes you feel forced to show sympathy. I can't give it a low score or a high score but I really do love this game to an extent that sorta brushes off abi killing Joel but it makes it hard when she almost kills Ellie and dina. I really wouldn't recommend this game if you suffer from mental health issues because it would trigger you to high hell but I also recommend it to peeps because it's actually a good game just a few parts that damages you Expand

Don’t waste your money unless you want to be depressed and upset with yourself for playing as Joel’s killer . You’re happier in today’s coronavirus filled world. Expand

(TLS) This game's story seems to try to separate itself from the original, and in doing so, destroys the only thing that made this series special to begin with. While the original had a compact cast of side characters with their own backstories, agendas, and personalities, virtually none of your companions in part 2 have anything interesting or sympathetic about them, and there are so many that it is too difficult to become invested in any one. For example, Dina, Ellie's love interest, is not fleshed out in the slightest, and is as about as engaging as a brick wall outside of her quips (much like other sides chars). The only character I can say I personally cared about was Lev.

The plot is the main reason as to why the player-character connection is similarly botched with the new protagonist. Introduction of character is key to how we perceive them for the rest of the game. We all know how Abby is introduced, and how the subsequent backwards development of her is mostly a failure. Anything we see of her now is tainted by what she did to Ellie and Joel because we did not know anything about her prior.

On top of that, there is no meaningful theme or message in this story, despite the emotion it might evoke. Emotion is a given when seeing beloved characters tortured and abused. The Last of Us subtly and naturally develops its message through Ellie and Joel's relationship, and by showing how the world around them affects that relationship, we are grounded in it. Both they and the world are believable.

Part 2 simply beats you over the head with violence, as if we don't already know that brutal murder is a terrible thing. I cannot see what else the game was trying to say. Humans are bad and do bad things. Humanity makes the same mistakes regardless of the situation they are put in. Again, we know. You cannot show violence and leave it unexamined by any of the characters like meaning will appear out of thin air. Take Ellie's grief, for example. She thinks about Joel often, and his death is the most plausible step forward for her development and the end of his arc. We see her sorrow and suffering, but to what end? We barely know how she feels about it, aside from the fact that it was a horrible experience for her.

This could have been a beautiful story that actually explores the meaning of revenge and what it does to a person. However, this was ruined from the get go. Abby got her moment of catharsis in Joel's death in the first two hours of the game. In over twenty hours and given two chances, Ellie got nothing like that, and in the end was left with quite literally nothing. The idea that was supposed to be pushed here was torn in two by this duality - is revenge good or bad, justified or not? Who deserves to die for their mistakes and who doesn't?

This is not "a story that needed to be told." Violence and revenge is a story that has been told a hundred times, both in the real world and in art, and when given the chance to offer a new perspective, whoever the hell wrote this game squandered it.

All of this is my opinion and what I experienced, and I respect anyone who was able to find a 10/10 in this absolute disaster.

It seems that people forgot the ending and monumental repercussions that would arise out of the first beloved game - if you go into this experience with a conceited, entitled attitude of what you want the story to be then of course you will dislike the outcome. Opening your heart and allowing the game to tell its story will leave you with a breathtaking experience and a message you would be sure to remember for the rest of your life.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
