    Imagine if someone tried to write a sequel to the first game but they couldn't remember what made the first game so compelling and then they tried to make you care about the villain by playing them for 8 hours

    Very good and high quality game. Yes, dubious plot spurts and impose a very heavy morality. However, the plot is sincere and evokes emotional return. The passage took 29 hours, it was possible a little brighter. Like two games in one according to feelings. If you are a fan of good games, you cannot pass by.

    I understand some of the hate this game is getting because it’s a very polarizing story. However, for me, it tested my capacity for understanding and empathy in ways that no other medium can. It sucks that not only is this the unpopular opinion, but people get chastised for their opinion of a video game. If you played the game and hated it, that’s fine. Personally though, I loved it.

    i play videogames for the storytelling, this was the worst story i have ever seen, it is so inconsistent with the first game and just doesnt make any sense. its not that the story isnt up to my taste, its plain bad writting.

    A decent graphical look as well as an ordinary gameplay which becomes mundane after the first half of the game are not enough to make a perfect game. The narrative is haphazard, filled with progressive ideology. The theme is trite/banal and badly executed. The soundtrack is decent though.

    Overall,
    Graphics, what do you expect? games dont really have bad graphics anymore so im not impressed.
    Gameplay? copy and paste.
    Storyline? eh, has its ups and downs, i hate agenda-pushing in a game, and this game is no exception, i don't care if a game has this stuff in there, but it was almost completely unnecessary.

    And then they killed a MC, pretty useless.

I really don’t like that Joel died but I understand why he did die like if someone killed my dad in a post-apocalyptic world I would want to avenge him but a lot of people don’t like how he died neither do I but it’s a gruesome world now since there’s zombies roaming around everyone’s not going to die a heroic death. Also everyone is saying Joel would never let his guard down like that in the first one but he was just getting chased by a heard of zombies what else are you going to do. Anyways here’s my opinion on this game I really liked the first half getting to get play as Ellie and chase after Joel’s killer… Expand

Couldn't agree more and it's sad that other people can't see it, and the outrage wouldn't have happened if the plot points didn't get leaked. And regardless of story, it can't be denied the visuals, environments, acting and gameplay is superb.     Beautiful scenery I'll give you that and a great soundtrack. Loved like 2 of the new characters. Story otherwise was........not good. I think it could have been a bit better if they had focused on what made the first game so great.

    I'm just here to laugh at gamers. I haven't played the game but I've gotten all the entertainment I need out of their ridiculously bad takes.

    How dare they kill off a main character? How dare they have moral ambiguity? How dare woman not make pp hard?

    I sure am glad no game has ever made these mistakes before!

    That said, I think ND must be commended for taking the risk and took the characters down a (dark) path that they knew would be polarising. Score actually a 7 because it’s not a perfect game and leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. However it doesn’t deserve a 4.5 so    Not having read the spoilers before playing, I must say this is a story with some questionable character motivations.

    This is the worst disrespect i have ever seen someone do with characters and world of a game. The writing is absolutely on the wrong side, it feels out of place sometimes and it doesn't make sense at all. Sadly, the amazing environment created in this game can't fix any of the flaws the story has. A true failure. For me this game never came out.

    This game was incredible. I was definitely hesitant at part and didn’t know if I would like the decisions they were making, but naughty dog has created something that is incredibly powerful and amazing.

    Besides graphics and gameplay a boring story and no multiplayer this game isn’t for me wish I didn’t buy it brand new would’ve waited until it was used and sold for a very low price before purchasing it

    Honestly I wish they continued on the virus like maybe there’s people that are immune but they are attracted to human flesh I don’t know I just wish they went in a different direction

As for gameplay, this is a dramatic improvement over its predecessor, though the AI is not quite as smart as was touted in early previews. Still, the combat loop is fun. This is definitely Naughty Dog'sThe story is phenomenal, heart-wrenching, and genuinely surprising.     Ignore the thousands of entitled losers who rated this game zero in the first few hours after release and therefore didn't actually have time to play.

    I've finished the game and in my opinion I have to say this game is a masterpiece. I thought the first game was the best game ever, now I think it's this game.

I was stunned not by graphic itself, but by amount of work that lies in every room in this game. There is literally every room have unique models and planning. But plot, characters, plot twists and other is just so bad that i could not enjoy this game. I personally would not give this game a 10 because I believe that you play as Abby for too long. Not to say that Abby is a bad character. Abby has a great backstory and very fun gameplay.     I'm truly disappointed with this game. The pandering was just too much. I don't mind progressive games as long as they don't think the story for an agenda's sake, which is exactly what happened here. I loved TLoU 1 because of the story (the game mechanics were meh at most) and for this second part, they completely ruined the story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is wonderful, but not in a beautiful way. It really makes you feel what Ellie feels and, in my case, what Abby feels. It’s really shocking the way they make you think who is the villain, but then you realize that in that world there are no villains, just people trying to survive in a world sunk in decay. The acts of revenge and forgiveness are play a main role, they trigger all the events in the game. The ending made me feel miserable, just as Ellie, but that’s what’s supposed to happen, sometimes there are no rewards for our actions, even in our own reality. It makes you think “all the things that I’ve done, and where did they drive me to”.… Expand

    Note, I played the entire game. I played it because I am a fan of Naughty Dog, the series and to formulate my own opinion on the game without the influence of other people’s comments on the game. During my gameplay I did not seek any plot information. However, I did know Joel died in the game, and Abby beats up Ellie at some point due to spoilers.

    Gameplay:
    The game brings everything back from the first game and fine tunes it to be better. Scavenging and limited resources fits this game’s genre perfectly. Make every resource count. Combat with both humans and infected has to be strategized, specially if you play on moderate or above as you can’t run and gun your way through with limited resources. To me this is perfect. The few complaints about gameplay come in the weapon/resource swapping. A selection wheel would fit this game much better. For example, if you want to select a molotov and then get back to your second hand gun, you have to to press down on the d pad twice, throw molotov then press right on the d pad twice again, which feels clunky to do.

    Graphics and sound:
    This is masterpiece in terms of technical achievement. You have to see it in person as streamed video takes away from the quality. This game kept making my jaw dropped every time a new location was shown. Its insane a console can handle those kinds of visuals. Sound is on par with the visuals as expected. Check out digital foundry for an in depth review of the technical aspect.

    Story:
    The story really comes down to each person if they like it or not. I personally did not like some of the major events in the game. However the story does have some shinning moments that I enjoyed. The first major event is Joel’s death. Personally, I did not want him be killed off in the game. They way he is killed is terrible to say the least. His death does however fuel the anger of the player and you get in that mentality of revenge right away. I consider this event as moderately negative in my score. The second major events are killing off Joel’s killer accomplices. This was quite satisfying in terms of the overall story, avenging Joel. 4 are killed by Ellie, and 1 by Tommi. 2 of them maybe could’ve been spared (Mel and Owen) as they showed remorse or more redeeming qualities than Abby. This part of the story is highly positive in my score. The next major event is Abby coming back for Ellie and Tommi. This is a high tension part of the game. Unfortunately it pivots to show us Abby’s story for about 10 hours. This is a terrible move in terms of the story, completely lost interest in the story at this point as I was not interested or having fun playing as Abby. Abby gets as much screen time / gameplay as Ellie. I followed the story for the sake of understanding the plot and never in the 10 hours playing as Abby did I sympathize with her. In fact I attached more to 2 side characters in Abby’s arc, Lev and Yara. As I said, this is really going to depend on person to person, and I personally did not like or cared much about the story of Abby. The only redeeming quality that ever comes up for Abby is she saving Lev and Yara. Other than that Abby is not a good person but she isn’t evil either as a normal antagonist. She loses her father, killed by Joel, but the father was never explored/developed as a character so its pretty hard to care about him and Abby. I’d rate Abby’s arc as moderately negative. I didn’t see the point. The only decent part is saving the kids Lev and Yara. The rest of her arc is forgettable. Lastly, the end. We get back to the part where Abby finds Ellie, after 10 hours of playing as Abby, at this point I just wanted to wrap things up as the story had already dragged too much. They fight and Abby let’s Ellie live. Months later Ellie goes after Abby again only to let her go at the final fight. The ending is bad, mainly because Abby is not a redeemable person, there is nothing about Abby that makes her a character worth of redemption. The ending could’ve been easily saved by allowing the player to make the final choice, kill Abby or let her go.

    Plot holes:
    Joel and Tommi’s naive dumbed down personalities. This is so unfitting for these characters after the first game. They walk into the wolf’s den to be killed.
    Abby killing Joel after he saves her. Although Joel saves Abby, she never shows doubt or remorse.
    Ellie not shooting as soon as she opens the door. She had a clear a clear shot at Abby.
    Abby’s clan sparing Ellie and Tommi. This would never happen in the real world when 5 other people are there and know if they live they might come after them.

    but i do tend to to agree with some other players, the stroy its not that good.. Joel did diserver better and jesse too.. ellie has gone throw too much suffering, why oo why .. make her go throw more on the last two chapters.. the game should have focused on forgiveness as the base for the last part, althought it really shows what happens when revenge is everything for you, and you end up lossing everything for such a stupid thing.. and the last scene with joel doesnt really make sense.. I liked most of the game.. and abby also diserved a better ending, if a DLC is coming i am willing to try it out.. but i would have bought this game on discount.. not full price..
    its trying to hard to be a MASTERPIECE, and its not.. not even the shock value, some character we get to know are killed of like they didnt actually mattered.. i dunno i have mixed feelings with this game..

    I've never seen a game brought down so hard by the story..the game is gorgeous the gameplay fun but my god is it a spit in the face to fans of the first.My advice is to not play it and remember the first fondly please god let ghosts of tsushima be good

    In my opinion, compared to the first part, it only had better visual graphics.
    Personally, I was going to buy the PlayStation 5 just because of this game. I'm really glad I didn't do this and I finished the game on my friend's device.
    When a game becomes so popular, it is expected that the creators of the game will pay attention to what people like, rather than trying to normalize a series of things that are not yet acceptable in society. Геймплей - понравился сильнее первой части. Очень много событий, много локаций (не по масштабу действий (никак в первой части полстраны), а по количеству в одном городе), много механик. Сюжет - самое то, к чему прикопаться можно. Но главное что персонажам веришь, мотивацию понимаешь, логика в большинстве случаем соблюдена. Где логика начинает рушиться её сразу же сами разработчики внутри игры собирают и объясняют (кроме одного момента с беременным персонажем), а не ты сам додумывать должен за них. История идёт так как она и должна была пойти. Техническое исполнение игры - моё почтение. Левел-дизайн (сколько проработанных ассетов это просто взрывает мозг), геймдизайн (сочетание нарратива и геймплея идеально), графика (скрины думаю сами видели, на PS4 Pro выглядит потрясно), ЗВУК (отдельно заслуживает высший балл, зацепил очень сильно), музыка -- всё выполнено на 10ку и тут мало кто поспорит (кроме тех рецензентов тут, которые не запускали даже игру, а смотрели прохождение на ютубе в 360р). По итогу хочу сказать, что игра понравилась. Финансово могло быть и подешевле, но это связано с нашим рублём и покупательской способностью в нашей стране, а не с разрабами. Рекомендовать игру стоит только тем кто действительно играли в первую часть (а не пробежали 7 лет назад на лёгком уровне и забыли уже что да как там), собирали записки и жили этим миром и этими персонажами. Тогда точно уж ничьих чувств данная игра не заденет и понравится. Если не нравился геймплей первой части, вы любитель сложных метафор и нетипичных ходов повествования, чтоб прям закрутило как у Шьямалана, вас дико напрягает что в игре есть персонажи нетрадиционной ориентации, настолько что на другое в игре вы смотреть не можете, то я не рекомендую данную игру к покупке и жаль людей которые уже потратили деньги и своё время, и остались разочарованными. От меня 10 из 10 и не поменяю данную оценку. Я думаю что проходная игра не собрала бы столько положительных и отрицательных дискуссий. В споре рождается истина.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, I'm only giving a 10 to slightly even out the idiots reviewing a game on the release day after only a few hours of playing and giving it 0. It is impossibly 0.

    I was shocked like everyone else in my first playthrough. But the more you get into the details like journal entries of ellie, conversations which you only listened to half of the time, it all makes kind of sense. I'm not 100% in on the ending, but it really shows the desperation such a world would create.

    The game is not "yeah lets bang em all dead cause we are the most badass survivors" and that is totally ok. There are enough other games like that out there.    … Expand

The problem with reviews is that people expected that Naughty dog would surprise them with brand new story but it is has “part two“ in its title, some parts of the story are obvious as the game continues the story of the first part. The people who trashing talking the shouldn’t be allowed to speak they must’ve not played the game or are reviewers who are **** for no reason about the choice of story, shame on all of them. This really is the most beautiful, most detailed game and most cinematic game ever made. Naughty dog did it once again.

    Good graphics decent level design that's about the only positives of the game the story has so many plot holes they time jump years to fit the new narrative and the ending is so lackluster same old revenge story that doesn't pay off & to anybody that's still interested in getting this game I'd recommend going pre owed that way you can get your money back if you don't like it

My top two games on PS4 up to this point were Sekiro and Doom Eternal, but LOU2 tops both by a large margin. All these games have incredible graphics, interesting and well-designed game loops, flawless production and so forth, but LOU2 stands out with its unrivaled story-telling, emotional significance and philosophical gravitas. There is so much I could say about this game but you should just play through.… Expand

    So, considering everything except the story it's a 6 or maybe a 7. But that's the rub. Everything that was so wonderfully vague about the end of the first game has been answered with utter banality. The amazing narrative decision that was simultaneously an enormously powerful character development moment and a hugely difficult moral conundrum that allowed you to reflect on the characters, and the Journey that you had taken, was reduced to a couple lines of dialogue, and never spoken of again. It is honestly the greatest failing of this game. It transformed something profound and meaningful and timeless into a bog standard story of the post-apocalyptic cycle of violence. And the worst part is, it doesn't even have anything meaningful to say about revenge. In fact it gets so caught up trying to make every character sympathetic that you have no idea how to feel in the end, you're simply left wondering, what the hell was the point of this? I was genuinely shocked when the credits rolled, I thought there was no way that was it. I felt nothing. That was such a negative experience, when those credits rolled, that I cannot give this anything other than a 0, avoid it at all costs, live in a bubble where this game never happened.

    The "inclusion" aspects of this had no bearing on the story and are completely overblown. There's one very minor incident of discrimination but it doesn't play any part on character development or the overall narrative so don't listen to anyone saying otherwise. You play as a lesbian and what appears to be a trans character, it's never really brought up.    … Expand

    As you get further into the story it will just get worst with uninteresting characters and infuriating events.

    If you are a fan of the original story and plan to play it (or watch it) be prepare to have it be stained with frustration and disappoint when your beloved characters are use to introduce a new main character that you totally wanted for a sequel about Joel and Ellie...    … Expand
