    Graphics damn nice
    Audio a bit buggy (dina stands next to ellie and her dialogue sounds like im hearing from meters away)
    Dialogue is bad (joel just died days or weeks ago and ellie and dina joke around as if nothing happened)
    The story is just bad, totally bad
    We spend hours in the first game as joel and ellie only to see joel die in the first 1 or 2 hours in TLOU2 Guess what, the game forces you to play as abby(the killer) and her story isn't even impactful
    I can talk a lot more but in summary the game just sucks    … Expand

    Joel what are they done to you... There are many positive aspects of the game, graphics, animations, mod for deaf people, but the story the most important thing is very very weak. I have no motivation for playing more.

    For the whole game, I was confused. It was mindless and just kept going, throughout the game I would snap out of it and ask, what the heck am I doing? Where is this? Why is this happening?     There is nothing good to say about this game except that the cinematics is good. That's it. The story is horrible. Not gonna spoil anything at all, but the ending is complete garbage. How anyone could give this a real 10/10 is beyond me, especially critics. All critics, especially the ones on this site, must have been paid to give their reviews. An open ending where Ellie goes alone being one more survivor in the world, while abby apparently arrived with the fireflies, we can see that when we finish the game in the menu that you can see abby's boat. I would love to see a third and last part of this beautiful game, where Ellie returns to be the protagonist becoming like Joel in the first part, a surviving and ruthless girl, struggling for a long time with the idea of ​​surviving, no matter what happens, she will find something to fight for. abby looking for Ellie because she is the only one who can give the cure for humanity, but Ellie does not give it and kills abby, she is not going to give it to the world, because the world took Joel, like Joel, that they took from Sarah.     Stealth gameplay is solid, visuals are absolutely stunning, story wasnt perfect but i was overwhelmed by the end with emotion. I love this game but i wont be able to play through it again for a while, the story hit too close to home with loss.

    A completely lost, confusing narrative arc that whimpers out with an unsatisfying conclusion. The pretty graphics and solid - if a touch repetitive - gameplay cannot hold up the absolutely terrible characters, both old and new. Abby and her crew are impossible to sympathise with after events that take place early in the game, and characters like Joel and Ellie that return from the originalA completely lost, confusing narrative arc that whimpers out with an unsatisfying conclusion. This game was amazing to me honestly, if you can go in with an open mind and try to understand everything, even if it's just a little, this game will emotionally grab you and walk you through it's story and even more amazing world story telling, characters feel like real people with their own proper, real issues that they have to live with, try your best to ignore all the hate it gets online, cause as far as I've seen, 80% of people I see talking crap about it haven't even played it and are just going off of a 20 minute rant video by someone with a bad mindset about the game, trust me, the story grabs you and will lovingly and painfully show you the true horrors of the Last Of Us world, weather it be the infected themselves, or the even less predictable humans, this game even made me cry at the end and yearn for Joel at the end, where he's most needed for Ellie than ever, as far as I can tell, story wise, it's amazing, gameplay and graphically, it's also amazing, the only ever issue I had, was not having enough differentiation between all the guns, as well as it feels like not enough of them, but that's personal opinion. This game is really good if you just give it a chance.… Expand

    Technally impressive. Poor stealth mechanics, poor gunplay, dumb AI, average voice acting, repetetive level design, repetetive enymies, cringe dialogues, terrible narrative full of plotholes, extremely unlikable characters atrocious pacing and balance.

    Overrall a terrible and extremely boring game. Look at it for the graphis but stay far far away from playing it

    A journey of revenge turns into a nightmare. Personally, you can't decide on any of those actions. You just have to display what the results are of the bad writing. The game is also too long, stretched and redundant as you play as two identical characters pathways. Expositions are the same, Tutorials are the same. You could easily spare hours of non-related and no fun content without sacrificing this horrifying story. The only credits I can give upon the graphics and the eye for certain details around the world. The quality is amazing, grass, environment in generally. buildings.. I wouldn't believe it, if I hadn't experienced it first hand, that one person, the story writer could ruin such game. Kinda feels sad.    … Expand

The game is dark and horrifying, echoing at times the scariest part of gaming, yet mixes this with a rich, vibrant world, that pushes video games forward. Everything from Part 1 has been pushed further- combat, environment, graphics. The narrative explodes in aNaughty Dog expands on the predecessor and have created an incredible experience in The Last of Us Part 2 that truly moved me. The game is dark and horrifying, echoing at times the scariest part of gaming, yet mixes this with a rich, vibrant world, that pushes video games forward. Everything from Part 1 has been pushed further- combat, environment, graphics. The narrative explodes in a well placed dense way as Ellie traverses America seeking revenge after a traumatic event. Exploring the other side of the story so to speak (avoiding spoilers) kept me guessing at every step of the way and truly had me evoking empathy in places and people I did not expect. This cultivates in a gloriously poignant finish that left me smothered in emotion, leaving me with a similar feeling after the credits rolled on part 1. The amount of Uncharted-esque set pieces in the game are well placed and thrilling. The themes of vengeance, grief, love and loss run rampant in this game but are beautifully threaded together in ways that kept me guessing, hoping, gripping onto characters. This is not for the faint of heart and I dare say is not for everybody as it plays with players expectations. This at times may frustrate what you've come to know from Part 1 of the game, but is explained in ways that only enrich the first game more, allowing me to find peace. Upon finishing the game the credits scrolled allowing me the time to breathe, take in what I'd just seen over the course of my 27 hour journey and ultimately reflect on what was an experience I won't forget.

    The Gameplay is okay and the Graphics are great, but the story is very very bad. This has no respect for the characters from the first Game, stupid decisions, unlikeable characters, plot holes, overall poor writing, SJW agendas, unnecessarily much violence and a very bad ending. Don't buy this Game, if you're a fan from the first one, for me this is just non canon.

    The director Neil Druckmann went out of his way and said: "The game isn't meant to be fun". What is it trying to achieve then? If you're not providing entertainment, then what are you trying to do? School me? Creators MAKE YOU go though all these terrible things and then have you feel sorry for doing it, but (and this is the worse part) not in a single instance in this game can you choose to go 'non lethal'. See that random dude over there? you're gonna have to slit his throat to progress forward. See that pregnant lady? yeah you gotta butcher her too. And what if you say 'no' , what if you decide that you've had enough and you don't want to mindlessly keep on executing dozens upon dozens of people you have never met before? Well, the game just gatekeeps you out of experiencing the rest of the story. In the name of what? Neils twisted fantasy? A laughable, petty story about revenge? Creators say that the game 'makes you think' but it never actually does. People who made this game think that suffering, gore, mass murdering gives the story depth, which is ridiculous in of itself. Making your characters experience bad things doesn't make them deep, it's the things that they think and how they feel that makes them seem like a real human being. Here, they never reflect upon what they do, and what literal war crimes they've commited. In the original game, you had moments of sadness and grief, but you also had cheerful moments and comic reliefs, There is none of that here. It feels like you are watching a Zack Snyder movie cranked up to 11, everyone is perpetually angry or sad, everyone hates each other for seemingly no reason. Think of Deanerys in GoT s8 and copy paste her ridiculous flip out where she goes on to kill everyone onto every other character in this game. And after all this, laying waste to over 100+ people in graphic fashion, that phisically made me sick and the game forces you to do, you get a manifesto from ND saying that it's wrong to kill people. Are you serious?

    On top of all that pandering and literly spitting on the previous game that people loved you get gameplay mechanics from 2009. I can't stress this enough, in terms of it's gameplay design, this is one of the most outdated, unimaginative AAA game you will ever see. You get the dudes back with one button, stab him with a different one, sometimes shoot the gun, that's it. Game markets having dogs as if it was some game-breaking revolutionary addition even though every stealth game has them. All these new gameplay elements, you've seen all of them in different games, sure they are refined, but not in a way that's worth talking about.

The game plays almost the same as the first one because there are barely improvements given that the game was developed for 7 years. The story is incredibly bad with horrible writing and bad decisions after everything we did in the game after all the people we killed and after all the bad things abby did we just let her go?! wtf thats just stupid.     Graphics are great and all but when the story just isn't good, it's all wasted.

    This is a story based game with one of the worst stories I've ever experienced. It is bleak, nonsensical and leaves one feeling hollow by the end. It disappoints on so many levels and any fan of the first game will not just be let down but insulted. Save your $60 for something more deserving.

    Imagine killing countless people to reach the killer of your beloved father figure. Then, after killing all those people when you finally find the killer and get a chance to finish it all, you just change your mind. After loosing EVERYTHING YOU ONCE HAD! Seriously, what is the point?

    Sure, graphics are way too damn good to be true, gameplay is smooth but, who cares about these elements if the actual story is garbage. JUST IMAGINE playing as the character that killed your favorite character from the previous title. I'm fine with Joel dying. What I'm not fine with is, the way he died. You just cannot come out of nowhere and kill our beloved character without even showing a motive. I'm sorry but who the hell would even want to play as Abby after all that **** happened?

Shooting and Fire kills don't contribute to anything beyond the aesthetic reach that looks very good on my PS4 SLIM. Hiding behind covers is still imperfect as to review what causes and fits of fury, even at normal difficulty levels. The worst aspect,After TLOU 2 I did not expect much but that for several games and two additions not improved mechanics looks like a poor quality joke. Shooting and Fire kills don't contribute to anything beyond the aesthetic reach that looks very good on my PS4 SLIM. We had a free mature story and got revenge stories and ambiguously apply that undermines everything we did. I think the imperfect game is not a delight, because it is simply cut. Graphics refreshing And at least the usual plot digested the fact that I had to skim the limping mechanics through available to unsatisfactory ending. I had the impression that I was playing Call of Duty with craft. The game has a lot of scripts and requires specific behavior from cb. I felt like having sex with a girl who's got a lot of virginity who behave her because it's their first time. TLOU2 is being criticised for being a "SJW game" and despite this, the 2 notoriously "SJW" websites, Kotaku and Polygon, dislike the game. Please trust players. Obviously many will give it a 0 and 1 because they are just angry and want to review bomb, but what they say is still true. I will do my best to be fair.

    I will try my best to be short and concise (difficult for me, I try to be fair)

    1. All the leaks are true.

    2. There is outright false advertisement. The trailer where you see Joel hold Ellies mouth and surprise her? Yeah that's a lie. It's the Asian guy, Jesse who in fact does this in the game. They were obviously going on the "JOEL AND ELLIE **** YEAH" hype that it would build and the tore it to pieces. It is literal false advertisement.

    3. Everything that TLOU1 was, was "Hope" - that's shat on in TLOU2.

    4. In TLOU1 they literally explain how the chance of finding a cure is virtually non-existent yet somehow we are in TLOU2, supposed to feel like Joel was a villain for making the choice he did in TLOU1. The choice that we all knew was morally ambiguous but we understood him.

    5. I suppose i should speak about the "SJW" criticism. I think it has merit. There's so many characters of different colours and orientations and no "bigot sandwiches" in sight and this is what we get instead of Joel and TLOU1 Ellie.

    Neil Druckmann is known to be a fan of Anita Sarkeesian (a person who outright lies about video games. For example using Hitman as an example of misogyny because you can kill women in it when you can kill everyone in that game indiscriminately and you always have been able to) - he has made his own speech about the misuse of women in games and the agenda shows.

    6. A quick positive before the last one: As expected the gameplay is great. if you liked TLOU1 gameplay you'll like this. It drags on for too long and gets stale but it works. The acting is great, the music is great, the art direction, the sound design and attention to detail in small things like when you zoom in your characters eyes squint, is great -- But everything and I mean EVERYTHING else is absolutely terrible.

    7. TLOU1 was not an original story but it was so brilliantly told and acted and that's what made it a perfect game for many people. TLOU2 is ONE of these things: It's well-acted, that's it. EVERYTHING else is garbage. The scripts are terrible and remind me of teenage movies or bottom-of-the-barrel Netflix shows. They took 2 of gaming's best and most complex characters and completely destroyed them. They literally kill Joel and Ellie's character they kill.

    Joel was quiet, deliberate, reserved, violent, angry but he still had love and you could tell.
    Ellie was hope. She was happy, she had fun while everyone else was scared. She also got scared, but she would always go back to the **** you" feisty, quick-witted person that she is. She would take initiative when Joel hesitated (the bridge where she jumps for example) -- They were both strong, well-written, complex and empathetic characters.

    Joel's the same in TLOU2 but he gets brutally murdered within 2 hours (of a 25 hour game)
    Ellie is now a basically an emo. They were clearly going for a heavy change, for her to be adult, **** ****ed her up, she's not her own childish self, but it's just badly written. At one point a man apologises to Ellie for making (what the audience is left to assume is an offensive remark on her lesbian relations with Dina) - he is seemingly very sincere and gives her a gift (in shape of a sandwich for here travels) and tells her to stay safe. She does nothing but scoff and turns to Jesse and tells him they are "bigot sandwiches" - it is pathetically badly written, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

    So what is the payoff? Well presumably it is that we get to be Ellie and get revenge on Abby.

    We do not. The half of the game we *are* Abby in an attempt to humanise her but it all falls flat because she quite simply is not a likeable character and she just bashed Joels head in, in front of Ellie, we want her gone. They didn't even take the intelligent route here of making us play Abby for 10 hours BEFORE killing Joel. No. They want to "subvert expectations" ah yes, expectations. They dared to kill him. It's like Game of Thrones. It's so impressive!

    And in the end, when we play Ellie again, we murder hundreds of people, Abby's accomplices and at the very end, after Abby harms Dina, Tommy and Ellie herself even more.. Ellie decides that revenge is not what Joel would have wanted, which is just so far from Joel's character.

    So Abby goes free. It is the oh-so original tale of THE CIRCLE OF REVENGE (remember to gasp at the originality here) the never heard-of-before story of how violence and revenge does not solve anything and does not make you feel better but in fact does the opposite.

    1) "They were actually going to make a cure"

    One of the very first things 's says is in the game is extremely problematic. People justify their own actions. They choose to interpret events, especially uncertain events, in a way that is favorable to them. If you go to a prison, every single person will claim innocent. This is practically a fundamental truth.

    There is no way to know for sure what the fireflies chance of finding a cure were. So it is something people are free to Interpret how they want. Here are two examples:

    (A) 0% chance of cure: is a hero who saved from dying a pointless death. The surgeon is a monster who was willing to sacrifice an innocent girl for a 1 in a million chance for a cure. has NO reason to hate .

    (B) 100% chance of cure: is a monster who robbed humanity of a cure. The surgeon is a hero who died trying to save humanity. has a reason to hate forever.

    Which way do you think and would chose to interpret things? It makes sense for to believe "truth" B. Of course she would rather think of her father as a hero rather than a monster. Similarly, would believe "truth" A where he is a hero. He would never choose to believe in a Interpretation that would give a reason to hate him.

    The beginning of the game should have been like this:

    "It was a shot in the dark. One in the million chance for a cure. Everything I had seen suggested as much. The speed they decided to sacrifice the 's only immune. Not even trying to get 's approval. The incompetence I had seen across the country... I couldn't stand the idea of dying for nothing. So I killed them all."

    However, Neil gave a lobotomy and had him say, "They were actually going to make a cure"

    2) the most important moment of part one is undone in part two.

    At the end of first game, asks a question. lies. He doesn't tell the truth that will make her hate him.

    In part two, the exact same scenario plays out again. asks about what really happened at the hospital. This time tells the "truth" and makes her hate him. There was nothing preventing him from giving a version of events that was favorable to him (0% chance of cure). This directly contradicts the end of the first game.

    Neil gave a lobotomy and forced him to believe 's "truth". Neil then game him another lobotomy to force him to tell that "truth" to . In the end, hates for something that he himself told her. This is unbelievable.

    Looks stunning, but it’s a shallow attempt to continue from the first game left off, story and characters are a side note to the games agenda pushing, and nothing extremely new in terms of game play which other games have been doing for years.

    i'm literally shaking and crying right now, i can't believe i waited 7 long years for this game and this was the result. I really wish to know what in the world went wrong during development, the story is so bland and edgy for no reason always going for shock value over a cohesive story. After this trainwreck of a game i don't even know what to look foward to. Thank you, naughty dog.

But to a fan of Last of Us from 2013, the more important part of the game wasn't that.. the most important part of the game was the story, how joel, a widower who has to see his daughter die because a military guarding the virus area, starts to find a new daughter in ellie... and ellie finally finds a family in joel.
    They screwed up not just killing joel, but making his death as stupid as a kid can imagine... I supposed they have writers or people that makes millions of dollars to make a good storie, that was Neil Druckmann said, that they would take care of the story of the game and the characters, and then you have this... And that without speaking about the end.
    They **** up the story, the most important thing about we, the gamers of the last of us, most love... and I hope naughty dog do something about it.    … Expand

    After 7 years we get this: a convoluted story that needs to push the plot, no matter what. Lovely graphic, but this kind of game lives out of the story section. Irredeemable.

But the story writers for this game deserved to be fired. The Last of Us is one of my favorite games of all time, and somehow, someway they managed to take everything that was so great and magical about the first game and absolutely trash and tarnish it. Anybody that enjoyed the characters of the first game are going to be extremely disappointed by this. Joel and Ellie deserved a much better story then what they got in this, and as far as the character switching goes, Metal Gear Solid 2 did a much better job of that, so leave that to people who can actually write a decent story.

    I really hope the developers see that people are angry with this story and take notes on how to do better next time, because this is by far the most disappointed I have ever been with a video game in my 27 years of living, and I’m extremely easy to please, so that is saying something. Naughty Dog, you are better than this and are capable of so much more.    … Expand

    But the biggest issue is how bad the story is, they went from great story telling in the first game, to this shock value, agenda pushing garbage. All the character building is gone and its just action, explore, kill 50 people, add some bad story telling and repeat.

    The worst sequel to any game ever. Combat and gameplay is essentially the same as the first game, mediocre. The plot is terrible and drawn out. The only good thing about this game is the soundtrack, voice acting, and graphics. Do not recommend.

    Abby is the most generic bad guy there is it’s as if I’m watching an episode of the walking dead. Not to mention I skipped ahead and watched videos of the sex scene why did they think that was necessary to the story?     This game takes everything that is worth from the first one and destroys it. Focusing in the worst aspects of the series, making little to no improvements in most aspects. Lies in the marketing material. Aside from the graphics there is nothing noteworthy in this game

    It's very sad how the creators destroyed the game in the name of propagating ideas, beliefs. This game is a reversal of the climate of Part 1. History makes no sense. The post-apocalyptic world, humanity on the border is destroying, and the main character happily murders her prophetic sexual revival. The mechanics and graphics alone in this game are not enough - it's not car racing.
    Really sad.

    Plot 0/10 in a narrative driven game, with boring game play and great graphics. Didn't learn from the mistakes of the latest Star Wars trilogy. Shock value over respecting characters. Forced LGBT agendas that add nothing.

    Don't ruin your fond memories of the first one.

    I am really sorry for the team that made the graphics and the environment. The level design is amazing but the story everybody waited for is ruined. GG Neil Druckmann you ruined everything...
    Don't buy it, look at it at youtube and if you like it buy it second hand or on Christmas.

    This game gets one star for good graphics, the rest of it, nothing. I have never wanted my money back from any game I have bought but for this one i do. The story, the agenda, everything about it is a joke. If you are going to butcher a game series just make a new one and stop destroying good IPs. Worse then Disney Star Wars.

    Concerning the gameplay, it is rather dated. It suffers from exactly the same problems as the first one, but we are in 2020. A certain slowness is perceptible and the gunfights are very soft. The puzzles presented along the game are very simplistic, one often wonders about their usefulness. The game is of course extremely scripted and full of QTE, which quickly becomes tiresome / annoying.

    Let's get to the most annoying point: The storyline. If the first one was an example in terms of writing, taking all the prizes on its way, TLOU 2 is far from taking the same path. And that's a HUGE problem, because the game is presented above all as a kind of interactive film. Unlike the first one, I didn't feel any attachment to the characters and their stories. There is no sense of identification, no empathy that emerges during this adventure. The player watches the story from a distance, like a boat capsizing. The only perceptible feeling was regret, regret for having spent 60 bucks on this game. I don't even want to talk about the end, which clearly deliver the final blow to me.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
