    I can understand the criticisms regarding Joel's death, regarding the fact that Joel trusted a stranger. But they have to admit that the story is on another level ... The message of the story is incredible, how revenge ended up ruining his life and ended up destroying the only thing that joel left him (playing the guitar).
    Again, the soundtrack is something perfect and that fits every moment of the game.    … Expand

    I cannot believe what this franchise has turned into: a bloated story stuffed with unnecessary characters and bad writing. Worst of all, half of what made the first game special has been taken away from us...

    This story ended with the first game.

    How to destroy a good history in a terrible second and i hope last part. Very disappointed with the characters (nonsense in the history) and pretty boring game play. Next time i will think twice to buy your product.

    I played the first game a lot of times because i couldn't get enough of it and waited all these years to play this. Hope the writers had fun playing golf with the storyline. I strongly recommend saving 60 bucks for ghost of tsushima.

    A True successor to the original game, it was an amazing experience, the gameplay was Hella fun and the graphics we breathtaking(I though my ps4 was gonna expl whit such graphics) also the story kept surprising me continuously. I think this might be goty but ghost of tsushima might take take it. 10/10

    The Last of Us Part II is, in my opinion, a masterpiece and probably the greatest and most beautiful piece of video game storytelling I have ever experienced in my life. I was    Warning!     The Last of Us Part II is, in my opinion, a masterpiece and probably the greatest and most beautiful piece of video game storytelling I have ever experienced in my life. I was emotionally moved by this game in a way no other game ever came close.

    Since the story is obviously the most controversial part of the game, I'll talk about the technical aspects of the game first.

    On a base PS4, the game runs incredibly smooth. I have experienced no FPS drops during my playthrough and encountered only one non-game breaking glitch (I have experienced several crashes during the first several hours, but after restarting my console the game ran perfectly so it probably wasn't a problem with the game itself). The graphics in this game are also absolutely breathtaking. The apocalypse has never looked more beautiful. The sound design is also perfectly done (fair warning: I know practically nothing about sound design and mixing, so for me it basically comes down to whether the game sounded good). This game is easily the most immersive game I have ever played. There are so many tiny details in the world that really make you feel like every single room you enter in the game has a story of it's own.

    Let's talk about gameplay. The gameplay is improved in every possible way from the first game. In combat and stealth sections there are some really great new mechanics, like dodging hits in hand-to-hand combat, or going prone (is that the right way of saying that?) and sneaking in the grass or under cars. You can now also move through narrow cracks in walls, and there are some very welcomed rope mechanics (which seem to have been borrowed from Uncharted 4, not that I have a problem with that). The gameplay and movement just generally feel smoother than in the previous game. The AI (of both your enemies and companions) in the game also seems way more intelligent and advanced than in the previous game, especially on the higher difficulties (I played on hard).

    I think that we can all agree that all the developers, coders and designers in Naughty Dog who worked their asses off should get massive respect.

    Before I discuss the story, I just want to quickly acknowledge the amazing soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla. The soundtrack is incredibly atmospheric and really helps to immerse you in the story, characters and the world. There's not much else I can say about it, everyone knows that Gustavo Santaolalla is an absolute master at his craft.

    Okay. Let's talk about the story, Easily the most divisive part of the game. Some love it and some think it completely destroys the characters. The situation is not unlike a certain highly divisive eighth movie in a series about space wizards (a movie which I happen to love). I should probably start by stating that if your complaints are anything other than "SJWs ruined the game with forced diversity" or something along those lines, I can absolutely understand the criticisms of the story, and why people would have a problem with it. I think your opinion will mainly depend on whether you can accept something that happens fairly early in the game, and whether you can sympathize with a certain character (I'm trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible). Personally, I found the story to be an incredibly compelling and moving tale about the cycle of violence and the nature of revenge. In my opinion, the story builds upon the story in the first game and feels like a natural continuation, making it worthy of being called "part 2" of the story. Every character in the game, both old and new, are all extremely sympathetic and likable, although some will not seem that way right from the start. Finally, all the voice and motion capture performances in this game are absolutely top notch (Troy Baker as Joel, Jeffrey Pierce as Tommy, Shannon Woodward as Dina, Stephen A. Chang as Jesse and Laura Bailey as Abby are all fantastic) and bring the characters and their relationships to life (especially the relationship between Ellie and Dina), but I especially want to single out Ashley Johnson, who should receive every single award possible for her absolutely incredible and heartbreaking performance as Ellie.

    I liked the last of us part 2. This is a great continuation of the first part, my emotions were on the aisle after the game, letting out a tear several times and at the end roaring like a little child, I recommend playing this masterpiece.

This plot gave me calm, funny, cute, sad moment. I recommend this game, even if there is bad mark on metacritic. I'm not agree with the other people, because this game is real good

Last of Us Part 2 continues to make the experience an emotional roller coaster. I have gone from hating Abby to caring so much for her that i didnt want to kill her despite what she has done.
    This game is not about revenge, it's about forgiveness and redemption. Joel was treated the way this world treats everyone. Despite him being all caring and sweet towards Ellie dooesn't make him an all good character. He, like everyone else in that world, did everything to survive. Including killing lots and lots of innocent people and torturing them. Even though he is one of the most beloved characters in gaming history, he didn't deserve a poetic and beatiful death. Joel's choices catched up to him and he was killed by the people he has wronged in the past. Joel's story was executed perfectly.

    Abby's storyline shows us that no one in that world is simply black or white, everyone is right in their own perspective. It's really rare to see the antagonist as a normal human being amd not just some villian the protagonist has to kill to achieve some goal. In the end, i cared for Abby as much as i cared for Ellie. The cycle of violance and how the only way out is not revenge but forgiveness was executed to perfection.

    The graphics in this game is the most realistic in all of gaming. The game is so beautiful that i took over 2.5 GB of screenshot from the game. I showed few of these screenshots to my girlfriend without telling her where they are from and she actually thought this was from real life. Every shot in this game is a masterpiece and ı found myself staring at some scenery quite often.

    Gameplay was so smooth that i felt like i was in the game. Naughty Dog has always managed to make the gameplay a phenomenal experience. Killing infected and humans never felt so satisfying. Stalkers and Shamblers add so much anxiety and fear to the experience. Constantly checking the corners to see if some stalker is spying on me is truly one of the most stresful thing i have experienced. There are so many opportunities for combat, whether its making the human enemies fight with dogs or holding a human as a shield so that clickers can eat them right out of your hands is amazing. Never before i played a game that made the NPC's feel so much allive. Everyone in this game has a name, a loved one and emotion. The attention to detail was top notch and ı give my respects to everyone at Naught Dog for putting so much work even to tiny things. Every room i entered made me think " It's a weird feeling to be in a room where 25 years ago somebody else called this place a home"

    Music in this game was out of this world. Gustavo managed to make you feel the vibe of every scene you are experiencing. The music in the action scenes especially makes you on the edge.
    And despite what everyone is saying, the ending was excellent. Ellie thought she had to kill Abby to get rid of her PTSD. But once she sees Abby tied up in the pillars, she realized that she's not just some girl that killed, Ellie saw how much Abby cares for Abby (Which is a reflection of Ellie and Joel from the first game). But as soon as she was letting them go, she saw Joel's face being beaten to death and she thought killing Abby would make this right. But just as she is drowning her, she sees Joel again. But this time it's a flashback from the night before he was killed, it's about forgiveness. This is the moment she truly lets Abby go.

Last of us part 2 has to be the most ambitious game I’ve ever played it took huge risks in some people’s eyes that means the game sucks, in my opinion it was the most emotional unexpected journey I’ve ever had playing a game.     Man this game is great. I can't stop thinking about it. All I see are butthurt Joel fans. Yea I loved him too but his death was part of this brilliant tragic story. That's life especially in a zombie apocalypse. Game taught us alot about that there are always more sides two a story.

    Questo è il gioco che tutti i fan di TLOU hanno aspettato. Ogni cosa in questo gioco ci fa capire che la verità non sta in una sola"parte" ma che bisogna ascoltare tutte e due le "campane".
    I personaggi sono ben studiati, il gameplay è molto bello(meglio quello "stealth" di Ellie rispetto a quello più aggressivo di Abby), ma il vero punto di forza di questo The Last of us parte 2 è la trama che va a collegarsi perfettamente con il finale della prima parte.
    I colpi di scena(come la morte di Joel) ti danno tante emozioni che sono molto diverse l'una dall'altra. La morte di Joel all'inizio ti fa quasi piangere ma subito dopo la sepoltura ti trasmette rabbia e voglia di vendetta, al contrario la morte di Jesse(che avviene quando meno te lo aspetti) ti lascia quasi incredulo e ti fa ricordare quanto buono e gentile fosse il suo personaggio.
    Riguardo ad alcuni dei nuovi personaggi invece: Ho trovato che Dina fosse un personaggio perfetto come spalla di Ellie, la maggior parte dei lupi non mi sono dispiaciuti affatto e hanno dato un tocco in più al gioco, ed infine Abby Lev e Yara il gioco te li ha fatti passare per cattivi per Ellie ma in realtà anche loro ne hanno passate tante.
    Il finale è stato molto commovente con Ellie che tornando a casa capisce che ormai non gli è rimasto più nulla e che la sua voglia di vendetta le ha rovinato la vita.



    PS. A mio parere un The Last of us parte 3 o un DLC potrebbe anche uscire magari spiegando la storia dei serafiti e del perché della guerra contro i lupi oppure spiegando come alcune luci si siano riunite e perché non danno la caccia ad Ellie    … Expand

    Great enemy AI, great difficulty setting, great environment design, the story is actually ok. There are a lot of details in the game that makes the whole story logical.

    Besides, the first Ellie part is pretty dull and boring when talking about the story. Dina and Ellie don't talk a lot and their conversation is so dumb, while their love relationship is superficial. And pregnancy -- we should admit it, it sucks. I really understand that they want to use this part to show the weight of lives but they do it too sedulously. DIna has way too much settings that are unnecessary for the theme of this game or for caracter development.
    THe interesting part is, I think they did Abby episode pretty well--it reminds me of part1 and I think they do it intentionally. "The girl who killed Joel becomes another Joel at last", they just failed to convey their message correctly to the player but the arrangement of this game leaves players with wrath, nihility and suffering in the most part.     El juego es un 10 total, una obra maestra, que si bien pudo ser escrita un poquito mejor no quita el hecho de que todo lo demás es BRUTAL!

    Todos los que dan mala calificación por 1 o 2 cositas son los mismos que se quejan por todo y no son capaces de disfrutar del arte sin ofenderse por todo, sinceramente me pone triste ese hecho.

    Well, I just played this game. And I could say, that I didn't like the middle of the game. But after the middle, everything has become more interesting and exciting. The epilogue got me thinking and crying for so long. I hope you'll enjoy this game.

    But if you like the first part. this game will feel like self-mutilation

    the fact there is sex in the game, by an very muscular woman, didnt bother me.
    the fact there is an story arc about an transgender, didnt bother me. but it didn't add to the story, it felt forced. (probaly trying to score social justice points, but it felt forced. and they missed the ball. unlike the first part)

    I do understand what they try to tell with the story, but i just stronly dissagree with its message about revenge.
    I disslike abby so much, i try to rush to the gamepart where i play as abby.

    And this isnt the good kind of of hate out of good writing. the game direction failed to generate any symphaty for Abby.

    They tried with 10 hours with abby, and failed.

    Such a **** shame. I will return my game or sell it second hand market.

    Very simple: it's like a game of decisions that could take you to a gameover screen. Except that you DON'T make the decisions, the writers took all the gameover decisions for you, and it's never gameover.

    I'm giving it a 4 because I feel sad for the developers. Neil Druckman, however, should never ever make another game.

    -The trailers were also very misleading.
    -Ellie was robbed of half of her game.
    -Ellie's story is just straight up depressing. Don't play it if your not mentally prepared.
    -Don't get me started on Joel.
    I'm a huge fan of Part 1 and this was such a let down.

The original game was an absolute masterpiece, with the introduction of these too amazing characters: Joel and Ellie. As we played the first game we got to know both characters and learned to respect and love them. With The Last of Us part 2, all that Naughty Dog has built with the first game is completely destroyed. They killed Joel right on the first 2 hours of gameplay in a way that contradicts that characters personally. Not only do they kill him in a confusing and disrespectful way, they later on force us to waste over 10 hours of gameplay controlling the same person (Abby) who had murdered Joel. For some reason they keep trying to shove this stupid character down our throats, as if we were supposed to sympathize with her on some level, but that just didn’t work. She killed our most beloved character, therefore we hate her and nothing they could do could ever change that. Unlike the first game, this one brings a painful and annoying story that nobody asked for. It is an insult to the fans of the original game and its main characters. The graphics however are the best I’ve seen, the scenarios are really beautiful and the soundtrack is compelling just like in the first game, but the story is absolute trash. We deserved better after 7 long years of waiting patiently for the sequel. Disappointed.… Expand

It's also longer than the original, and I mean that in the best possible way. TLOU2 is remarkably generous. It's packed full of diverse content and unique scenarios which are overflowing with detail.

    If I had to critique one thing I'd say Naughty Dog were a bit lazy with the character progression mechanism. In TLOU2, pills to unlock new character skills and nuts and bolts to upgrade our weapons make a reappearance, which is a bit out of place in such a grounded game where absolutely every single other mechanic and items we use has a purpose and fits perfectly into the world we're playing in and the story the came is unravelling before us.

    I will say no more as I could write pages upon pages about the virtues of this game. If you're looking for a bold, adult, thought-provoking story complemented with solid gameplay and you happen to own a PS4, I cannot recommend this game enough. Fake cutscenes were shown in trailers that led up to the game’s release, pretending like the first game’s main protagonist was present for the entire game’s story.     I see a lot of hate towards this game, but as a long time fan I really enjoyed the last of part 2. I see why people are upset and I can even agree with some of the criticism but at the same time I loved seeing all of the lore they put into this game I feel like its a more real world and I'm beyond happy with what they did with this story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a player who finished the 1st TLOU and bought the remastered again because i love it so much. I'm more then dissapointed in this one.
    The story is incredible dull and wants you to love characters that destroy the things you loved about the first one.
    They make you play the story and let's you feel bad for doing so. Just a poor writing story wise.
    On the bright side, the visuals are stunning but that's pretty much the only good thing about this game.
    Nothing new on gameplay mechanics, you can jump but you really don't need it.
    I finished it and glad i did it so fast so i could still sell the game at this point. Kinda sad about it actually, i legit loved the story, characters and the overall feel on the last of us part 1. We can all hope there will be no part 3.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What is the most valuable element of the end of a story? It's the pay-off. In the Last of Us 1, you finish the game with a feeling of satisfaction because you just finished processing a massive plot twist and the final cutscene carries a scent of mystery and anticipation for the next installment while also offering a much-desired pay-off. The Last Of Us 2 however, succeeds in undoing all of that. By the time, I was done with the game, I immediately noticed there was no pay-off but instead all I could feel was an unrelenting sense of emptiness as the main character, Ellie ends up losing everything for nothing and the new character, Abby is the only who has a decent conclusion. The game somehow disrespects all our favorite characters and destroys them like they are nothing and from their remains, they try to build a new character whom we are forced to play as and encouraged to sympathize with. I did my best to try but to no avail, as the game simply put, attempts to coerce us into liking the character and the experience is very similar to a mother stuffing food into a child's mouth because she believes the child enjoys it when they actually don't. The Last Of Us 2 is a tragic story and nothing more. It bears no emotion, only rage with no tears. The pacing of the story is extremely subpar, as well as its narrative as the game constantly forces us through flashbacks within flashbacks and while, this is somewhat tolerable at first, it gets stale very quickly. As for the gameplay, while being jampacked with intense moments where you must 'smart' your way through levels instead of just going in guns blazing, it's still very slow and clunky and there is little innovation between the previous iteration and this one. The Last Of Us 2 is a far cry from its predecessor and throughout its story, it constantly stabs its fans repeatedly with the ending being the final twist of the knife.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
