    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wouldn’t rate this game a perfect 10/10. It’d be closer to a 10 than a 9, however. So, on the scale options given to me, it gets a 10. The only thing I didn’t like about it was how it made me feel. It is a very difficult game to play because it is so powerful and depressing. From Joel’s brutal death to the journey that follows, there are so many terrible decisions made by the main characters, so much pain, death, anger, and hatred that I found the game very difficult to play at times. But what happened was the realization that no other game I’ve ever played had made me feel so many things and challenged my views/beliefs on so many topics. I finished the game a week ago and have not stopped thinking about it since. It’s that powerful. Kudos to the Naughty Dog team for taking such a huge gamble with the 2nd installment of perhaps the most beloved game/IP of the past decade. I didn’t like feeling all of those things (who enjoys feeling depressed?), and I play video games b/c they’re fun, but this game is still too good and too powerful to ignore. I highly recommend it to anyone, but just be prepared for an emotional journey unlike any you’ve ever experienced.… Expand

    First of all to get things out of the way Tommy had already said Joel's name to Abby since he is more innocent than Joel so, that is why Joel said his name, it's not bad writing, Abby already knew that he was Joel so it wouldn't make sense if Joel refused to say his name. People can't deal with a story where the main character doesn't get the revenge. I bet everyone who rated 0 when they started playing Abby's side though "I will kill her so I will not hear her side of the story" resulting in not liking her, so when Ellie didn't killed her they got really pissed of. I guess people can't have a different game, they like when everything is predictable    … Expand

    After playing the game and after getting the platinum (50+ hours) I can say that this game is a masterpiece! The graphics are absolutely stunning, the atmosphere and the scenario are great! I think every ps4 user should get this game! If you don't want to spent so much money right now wait but have to play this game!

    Playing this about 12 hours and damn I love it, it's like growing up, it's not for "kids" it's not for weak minds, it made me angry, it made me happy, it made sad, I connected to the game, it's really good having this narrative in games nowadays

Unbelievable what the PS4 Pro can do. The filmography, the direction, voice acting, character models, environment details, everything is superb in a way that few games or movies can compare.

    Engagements are way more complex and way longer than in many games. They keep you on your toes and keep the adrenaline pumping. Weapon handling is very satisfying and there's great variety of weapons, enemies and strategies Having played the full game, I can't think of any better game on this generation. For me it beats Red Dead Redemption 2 (which is comparable in tone, looks, gameplay and scope). It looks better than God of War, which is saying a lot. Combat is as intense as any war game.

    I found that this game was a perfect blend of action and tension. Its a great game for the fans of stealth action. So many improvements have been made to the stealth gameplay from the first game. The new stealth doesn't make you invisible though, and still adds to the tension of the game. The last of us 2 still keeps you somewhat grounded in the game, and keeps you on your toes all the time. As for the story, it was a bit muddled in terms of pacing, but still had enough of an impact on the player to invoke a little thought.     The game story is much greater than first one TLOU2 has great emotional moments make you hate Abby but later your thoughts absolutely changes by playing second part of the game with her.
    I loved the game from Story to gameplay, everything was perfect.

    Regarding the first teaser-trailer: Joel is only in Ellie's head, giving only one possible direction as a theory. It did not promise anything. This was the only logical "theory" that has now been confirmed.
    Also, regarding the "scam" of the Release-Date trailer: Joel might have been alive originally and Druckmann changed it later. However, I don’t think so, I think this was done intentionally. Not to fool their audiences but to scare them or something. Yes, the media team made the cuts between scenes too fast, true. But: Like in the first teaser, Joel (as Jessie) here could be a hallucination (he wants her to stop), because she expected Joel, everywhere she goes she has Joel on her mind. You can see her hopeless face, after she sees Jessie’s face.
    Well, this was only for explanation reasons. This is not confirmed or anything, but it does make sense.

    Actual review:
    I have played a lot of masterpieces, The Last of Us Part II might be the best of them. Personally, I enjoyed other games more (bc this game is mostly not about fun), but purely objectively TLoUPII is the best game, or at least in the top 3 games of all time. I enjoyed it with various emotions, shed tears and laughed. Please don't listen to haters and finish the game first, form your own opinion. The gameplay, story, acting (check out the facial animation), the characters, the graphics are all top-tier. The story could have been better, by that I mean that the order of events could have been structured differently. The pacing certainly isn’t perfect. Certain scenes split the player-base, are completely logical though. Everything of what comes before and after these scenes was done insanely good. The overall game is a masterpiece of writing that I have rarely seen in any media. And no, I have finished a LOT of games, but only this game has captivated me, entertained me that much. I usually rate games based on facts, not necessarily supported by my own opinion and TLoUPII does not deserve anything below 9/10, sorry. It's unbelievable how much work and love (and cruelty) was put into this project.
    I hope the PS5 version fixes a few things, adds 60fps and ray-tracing. Maybe there will be an optional story-order to choose from, or additional paths.
    We’re still waiting for Multiplayer Mode (as a stand-alone) and it’s coming soon.
    I currently give it 96/100. The PS5 version will probably top that.

    Logical consequences to what happened in the first game and the game is a technical masterpiece. Best graphics/physics i've seen on a console. Really enjoyed the plot, felt realistic and didn't try to cater towards the parts of the fanbase that didn't understand the implications of what happened at the end of TLOU1. I give it a 10. Looking forward to 3.

    For those unsure about this, if you loved the first one. You will be amazed how much better this game feels. The brutality, the combat, the stealth, the exploration you was limited in doing on the previous will amaze you.     I’ve see this game get a lot of slack so far and I’m absolutely enjoying it so far especially the storyline the graphics and the sounds. You can not like the story or gameplay i liked it the immersion and especially the ending has your emotions everywhere. YOU MUST PLAY IT TO HAVE A OPINION.     Por otro lado siento verdadera lástima por todos aquellos a los que sus prejuicios y las ganas de hacer escarnio les impiden degustar, reflexionar    Grandísimo juego, gráficos brutales, gameplay de ensueño, la historia peor que la del juego anterior pero aún así muy interesante y arriesgada en ciertos puntos. El juego no es perfecto, pero es de lo mejor de la generación, un imprescindible.
    Por otro lado siento verdadera lástima por todos aquellos a los que sus prejuicios y las ganas de hacer escarnio les impiden degustar, reflexionar o simplemente disfrutar de este juego. Más allá de la homofobia y transfobia, más que evidente por parte de algunos de los usuarios esta web, el resto que critica la historia con notas tan negativas realmente no sé si sabe en que saga está y de que compañía es, esto es Naughty Dog señores, y a ND se la suda lo que quisiéramos o lo que vosotros creáis que son las mejores maneras de llevar x o y personaje, han contado la historia como lo han sentido. Y es esto lo que hace cualquier autor con personalidad y una idea clara y fija, escribir y crear lo que quiere y no lo que os da la gana a vosotros.
    Ni la historia es tan mala (ya digo que es mejor la del 1), ni se os intenta meter inclusividad por todos lados, a nadie le importa lo que penséis o no.

    Ich kann nachvollziehen wenn man das Spiel wegen der Story nicht so mag, aber alle die eine Bewertung von 0 bis 5 geben haben einfach keine ahnung denn so eine niedrige Bewertung hat das spiel nicht verdient. Das Gameplay is top (vorallem das schleichen macht bock), Grafik ist die beste auf der ps4, Musik und sounddesign sind auch hervorragend. Das einzige was ich an der Story zu bemängelnIch kann nachvollziehen wenn man das Spiel wegen der Story nicht so mag, aber alle die eine Bewertung von 0 bis 5 geben haben einfach keine ahnung denn so eine niedrige Bewertung hat das spiel nicht verdient.     Fantastic Game! Very emotional in every way, you fell what the characters feel. The face emotions are really realistic which helps to dive in the game.

You might even be mad about it because it will disturb you. But that's the beauty of it too. Most games mediocre copycat, copy stamped formulas of the same thing over and over again. Why? Because of people that review low like this. People need games to be a certain way that molds around their values and expectations instead of allowing themselves to delve into the mind of the artist. And because of that, we end up with shelves of generic, safe games. TLOU2 is nothing like that.

    They skip boundaries that most games wouldn't dare touch - and the result is leaving the player feeling a sense of loss. This loss is a melting pot of contradictions and ideas. It forces our eyes open to how conflicted the world is and how none of us can see the bigger picture. Just like our real world today. Everyone has ideas and are more concerned with being right than understanding the reality of how things actually are on all sides - so no progress can be made.

    In a way, I'm kind of glad it's divisive because then I won't see hundreds of new games that copy/paste the formula until it becomes beat like a dead horse TLOU2 is delicate, brutal and way ahead of its time. That time may never come though - because people want that copy paste formula that they know and love. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch any Marvel, Disney, Pixar movie and you'll find a predictable path that leads to making lots of money but the film is a rehash of the same thing. TLOU2 has amazing gameplay elements but where I feel it shines greatest is the character study driven storyline. It's a work of art if you can get beyond what you wanted to happen. Plotwise, it's a deep character study that pulls you in a whirlwind in a way that no other game has. Characters are overwhelmed in a post apocalyptic environment. I don't want to give spoilers. I played it all the way through and it isn't until the end of the game that everything comes together so well. You definitely need to get through it all to understand what Naughty Dog did.

    Are people reasonably upset? Sure. Like I said, it's not for everyone. There's games like Animal Crossing and Zelda that are much easier to take in than this one. Naughty Dog did a fantastic job of making your a participant in this apocalyptic world by making choices that make you feel confused and shocked - I find it gripping. But for those that have a darker side, or a need to try something fresh and innovative - you'll find this to be one of the best games recently made.    … Expand

    Story:at the beginning I felt furious like Ellie and wanted to kill them all, as I moved forward I wasn't sure I wanted to keep doing that, by the middle I saw my mistake and the ending makes you understand everything and why it happened. Gameplay: The game is a rollercoaster, at moments there's action and stealth, and then to mitigate a few moments of peace. Pretty much same mechanics as the previous one.

They brought new depth to the old adage "two sides to every story", and capped it off with a long, emotional, and impactful denouement.

    This game wasn't about being a badass and mindlessly killing everything in your path. This is a game that makes you think, and weigh the moralities of this fictional universe.

    I strongly suggest playing the first game if you haven't already, just to get a better feel for the story. If you just want to loot and shoot, this game might be for you, but unless you can open your heart and see the message Naughty Dog was trying to send, and make us feel, then I can understand why you would pass on this game. Just don't give it a zero solely because it didn't live up to what you built up inside your head all these years waiting for the game.    … Expand

It's insane I finished this game 4 days ago and I still feel depressed and cry when I think about the end of the game. Its sad to see so many people hating on this game because its not what they wanted the new story to be. Sure there's some problems but for me it didn't take me out of the game or change my opinion. I've never cried for a game let alone this much in my life and I legit couldn't stop at the end with her last conversation with Joel, I've never felt that way in my life. It's insane how a game can do that. One thing I can't stop thinking about is Abby n Lev. When she thought she finally found the fireflies. She had hope, and then it all goes to **** and they're stuck in that hell hole for months, I can't imagine what they did to them in that time. To see her so transformed and broken was horrible to see even though I hated her for what she did. I didn't want either of them to die. To have Ellie essentially save her and spare her in the end breaks the cycle of endless death and violence. Which is what the message of this game is.… Expand

    Wow Meisterwerk. Das Game ist sehr zu empfehlen. Das beste Spiel was ich je aus der Playstation 4 gespielt habe. Die Arbeit von Naughty Dog ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk. Was die Story angeht war ich auch teilweise sehr schockiert. Aber insgesamt Wahnsinn. Hier stimmt alles.

This is the single most seminal exclusive of the generation. A layered and nuanced story from people who know how to communicate with true heart. This is the Next generation of gaming.

    Unfortunate, that she took the path of anger, and no regard for human life to get there, its almost Walking Dead-ish in that sense with the introduction of Negan and how it affected characters we loved.

    All things said, with graphics, sound, animation, the world created, and just everything together its an 8 for me, but I will bump it to account for some of the ridiculous hateful scores.    … Expand

    Best story. Unlike the last of us 1 , the characters here had more depth. I know people are hating this , most of these haters are the ones who only like Happy endings. These people probably wanted Ellie and Joel ride into the sunset holding hands. But in reality it isn't possible. The story shows us how far Revenge can take a person.

    The story is non linear, but the structure answers to the themes of memory and forgiveness which almost nobody has tackled in youtube comments since it is less evident than the story of revenge.
    The gameplay is nearly perfect and it feels much more diverse and exciting than the mechanics of the first game, not to mention the graphics and the world design.
    This game is a rare specimen of what narration can within the interactive media. In a world where multiple endings and alleged player agency are kings, this game tells a story we might not like, but which must be told and leaves us no choice. Violence and vengeance are cycles which must be broken and not everything must end with death, even if the path towards growth is built on violence.
    Anyway, I do not mean disrespect but I believe that when (or if) some of the haters read George Orwell's 1984 (the most popular example of an acid ending I could think of), they threw the book to a bonfire, wondering why the hell didn't Winston Smith just entered the Ministry of Truth with guns blazing and then fought the Big Brother on top of the Big Ben and then proceeded to kill him with a bazooka.     best 100 hours i've spent since the last LOU. I assume anyone saying it took 25 hours hasn't actually played it and is just a flat out bigot. I didn't think Naughty Dog would be able to maintain the momentum and gravitas of the first, since it was such an incredible prototype it seemed virtually impossible to follow up, but here we are.

    Mich hat das Spiel komplett überfahren. Eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle die einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen hat. Ich kann nur hoffen das es trotz der großen Kritik, die ich beim besten willen nicht verstehen kann, weiterhin solche mutig erzählten Geschichten in Games gibt. Denn der Einheitsbrei einiger anderen großen Studios beginnt mich zu langweilen.

TLOU2 is the story of two women that take the same path to avenge their "father" learning along the way that the cost of said path is huge, and in which they both end up losing themselves. The narrative is great. In a world like this you dont get to go out as a hero. The complexity of the characters is outstanding and they probably are the most human characters we have ever seen in a game and that is exactly why during this stroy they make mistakes and sometimes they give in to the anger, they act driven by their emotions, thats not something you see a lot these days in videogames. I think Naughty Dog took a lot of risks and definetly didnt go for the easy way (fan service) and in my opinion that payed off. The second half of the story works perfectly as a way to show the player that in this story there are two point of views and they both are doing what they think is the correct thing to do, and its completely justified. This is a story about how the lives of two girls merge when they go down this spiral of anger and violence after someone took one of the most important things in their lives. This is honestly the best game i've played in a long long time, and i think its even better than the first installment of the franchise. I understand why some people are upset about what happens in this game, but in a **** up world like this one thats how life is. People need to understand that they are not writing a story, they are being told one, and they can't control what happens. Definetly a 10/10 for me.… Expand
