    So much hate...it's sad. I don't understand why people put so much 0 for this game. That's not being objective at all. I did like the game, very mature, nice graphics, nice gameplay (yes similar to the first but I do think they had to respect at some points the last of us 1).Yes a bit long at some points but I like exploration in games so it doesn't bother me much.     I really don’t know where all the hate is coming from. I loved The Last of Us and had high expectations for The Last of Us Part 2. The game most definitely met them, and in many ways, was even better than the original.

    I am heartbroken and full of remorse. Never has a work of fiction made feel such a sense of loss before, in any medium not just games.

    This game at its core, to me at least was about "Violence" and how pointless it all really is.     This game is not for everyone that goes without saying but if there is any thing that this game has accomplished, is that there are certain stories that can only ever be successfully told in Video games. And i am happy to say that this game will stick with me for years to come, maybe forever.    … Expand

    Great game play. Story is a roller coaster for your emotions. There are some punch to the gut moments. The ending isn't my cup of tea, but I respect that story stays true to the grim reality of the Last of Us world.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This isn’t what fans of the first game wanted out of a sequel, and that’s perfectly fine! Naughty Dog gave us a story that was brutal, heart-wrenching and above all, real. This wasn’t a traditional game story with a happy ending, or even one that was wrapped up in a neat little satisfying bow. That’s part of what gave the story a more realistic feeling to me and made me respect it.
    Joel’s death made sense to me. Abby was justified in doing what she did. Yeah, everyone loves Joel but let’s be honest with each other, he did some bad things and had something like that coming for a long time. No one gets to have a happy ending in a game like The Last of Us. A lot of people are really upset that Joel and Ellie’s relationship was destroyed and never really got to mend, but what exactly did they expect to happen? Everyone knew that they would have a falling out because of how The Last of Us 1 ended. Not all relationships get mended. With this one it was due to Joel’s untimely death but again, that’s part of what made this story feel so realistic! As sad and frustrating as it may be, there are plenty of relationships in real-life that never had a chance to be repaired due to a death. When we had to start playing as Abby for a while (a little too long really) I was kinda upset as most other players were. ND wanted us to understand and sympathize with her as a person and I was a little unwilling to do that at first. But as her story progressed, I kept thinking to Troy Baker’s recommendation to approach the story with an open mind, and that’s exactly what I made an effort to do as we got to play as “the bad guy”. Abby’s story showed that she was not the villain in any way, no more than any other character in the story. I understood the character and I even forgave her for killing Joel! In the end, I’m glad Ellie let her go.
    TLoU2 made some ballsy story choices and I’m glad they did. I think players need to understand that this isn’t your conventional story with a conventional ending. They wanted that but got something else entirely, which shocked them and they let it ruin the game for themselves. People are being way too harsh on this game.
    Also, I did not feel like Ellie being gay was forced down anyone’s throat. So many people are getting mad over it and I don’t understand why. There’s so obviously a double-standard here because if Ellie was straight and Dina was a guy, no one would be saying a single word. Who cares that they’re girls and they like each other????? Get over yourself.
    The graphics were astonishing. The gameplay was great, keeping to its roots yet expanding on it in a good way. The AI was some of the best I’ve ever seen in a game. I almost felt bad for killing some of the people because they were humanized in a way that I haven’t seen done before. I loved being able to go back and play the guitar at points! Being a musician, it was fun to play some songs I know with the chord wheel :). Some of the characters were uninteresting and I just wasn’t attached to some of them. I didn’t care for most of the people that Abby was with (I did not like Owen at all) and I just didn’t really end up caring when her people died. I also wasn’t all that attached to Jesse so when he got shot in the face I was kinda like meh. Dina was fine. Kinda boring but fine. I wish we hadn’t played as Abby for so much of the story. I understand why and it made me appreciate her character more but I just wish we could have played as Ellie for more of the game.
    Now the most controversial part of my review: I would like to see at least a DLC story of Abby and Lev, if not, I’d actually really like a spin-off game for the two following Santa Barbara.    … Expand

Однако на сюжет в целом негативно не влияет. Перекачанная Эбби? Да, выглядит не очень сексуально, но как это влияет на твоё восприятие истории? Именно - никак. Через 10-15 минут ты уже привыкнешь и будешь воспринимать героя по другому. Тот же Джоел получил то, что заслуживал. В чем претензии? В нормальной мотивации для игрока? Сценарно игра построена отлично. В какой то момент игры за Эбби я понял, что не хочу за неё играть. До момента попадания в плен. Где герой преображается и показывает другую сторону личности. И в момент первой стычки с Элли я бросил геймпад на стол. Эта игра имеет минусы. Она слегка затянута, встречаются баги. История Лева с его непринятием себя как мальчика, как по мне, лишнее. Однако Дракманн сделал эмоциональные американские горки. В одной сцене ты пускаешь трогательную слезу, а в другой уже с криком: «Да когда же ты уже сдохнешь!», бьешься против Серафитов. Потом у тебя отваливается челюсть от того, как ты серпом вырезаешь пол щеки врагу. И так на протяжении всей игры. Если погружаться в историю, внимательно следить за персонажами, пытаться понять их мотивацию, то начинаешь сопереживать и тем, кого ненавидишь по началу. Эта игра не заслуживает 0 или 3 балла. Кому то она взорвет сидалище. (Это касается только тех кто поиграл в неё). Но это крепкое художественное произведение. Да, не как первая часть. Да, со своими проблемами и рудиментами. Спорная и вызывающая споры. Однако это ее сильное качество. После неё хочется сесть с людьми, которые трезво оценивают ее минусы и плюсы, и поговорить про историю и персонажей.… Expand

When I saw all the negativity following Last Of Us II I thought something actually went wrong but apparently the reality of the situation was people hated the reality of the situation. Realistically this was never going to have a happy outcome. It didn’t even have a happy beginning and you could only be so lucky to have the story cut off before you could get taken on the rest of the journey. When Last Of Us Part II was announced in my heart I already knew what the deal was and a lot of people wanted to think they also knew what the deal was as well. Actions, no matter how insignificant they may seem to you, will have consequences. This is a world where our heroes can very easily be another person’s villain and vice versa. However, not everyone is going to get to go out like a hero no matter how much in your heart you feel as if they should. It’s why a lot of people talk down on the movie Glass. People couldn’t handle the reality of that situation either so they’ll try and say that the “story was bad” or how “characters were ruined”. Finding something to blame so they could justify their feelings. Don’t come to the Last Of Us for a typical good time. You can, however, come for the good genuine moments amidst a very bad time. That’s The Last Of Us, that’s always been The Last Of Us and it isn’t the time to start getting all shocked and feeling betrayed now when you realize your dad isn’t Superman. It’s great that people love and feel so strongly for these characters but they shouldn’t let that blind them to what this world is. These characters aren’t going to act the way you expect them to or hope that they would. To barrow the tagline to Days Gone, this world comes for you and this world is bigger than Joel and Ellie. The Last Of Us is bigger than Joel and Ellie. Now I said all that to say this.. This is a beautifully done game that is getting lost in all of the negativity. It hurt my heart and attacked every part of my soul but even so I absolutely appreciate the journey they took me on. It was an honest one. One I’ll never forget even though part of me wishes I could. That’s a pain that’s never going away. They did an amazing job with this game from top the bottom and in closing……Ow.” Game Paul was fun the horror aspect were truly terrifying it did drag towards the middle but then immediately picked up again.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to give the game an 8.5 and since the game is getting review bombed, I'll give it a 9 to represent that I truly believe this is a (relatively) great game.

    This game follows the SPIRIT of the original and I think that runs through every aspect of it. Having played the original a multitude of times on all difficulties and to pursue 100% completion on both ps3 and ps4, I can say I am familiar with the original and what I am comparing to in 2.

    Pros:
    I'm gonna say this now: the story is better in its own ways, in my opinion (will share some gripes/observations later). I believe if you were to read this as a standalone novel or watch as a standalone movie, especially with different characters, the story is compelling, often well-paced, and a bold step to take for the series.

    The combat is improved in many ways. You have more options to deal with many encounters, albeit encounters seem to be bigger, so you still have to play smart and manage resources, at least on the harder difficulties.

    New struggles to deal with within encounters. New enemy types primarily, yet also some (subtle) changes to how known enemies react, particularly in recognizing fallen companions. On this note (which I think is the best part) many enemies, when they see a companion fall will call out a unique name. Subtle improvement, but very powerful. It also ties into the main story's themes.

    Cons:
    The story spends maybe more time than is necessary on a particular character. While I enjoy the overall gameplay mechanic and MOST of the time I appreciated what the intent was and felt the impact, I got to a point where I just wanted to move on, that the point was made.

    Additionally on the story, I had hoped the game would end two chapters earlier. It didn't and the final two chapters were frustrating to have to go through... at first. I think there was a solid (albeit bleak) payoff that ALMOST made the epilogue, so to speak, worth it.

    Other thoughts:
    Per pacing, it moves MUCH slower than the original. The opening is bombastic to set the stage and remind players of the stakes and then it SLOWS considerably. I did not mind this slower more methodical story-telling, and I really think it lends to the overall atmosphere and beauty of the game. But take from that what you will.

    LIGHT SPOILERS (although apparently everyone but me read the "leaks" and decided the game is bad before they played it): This game is not about two people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. This game is ABOUT that post-apocalyptic world and what it does to people. The first game's brilliance is in how it used it's setting and journey to redeem an old man who lost a daughter and show her growing into an adult despite willing to sacrifice herself. The side characters were special (for their time) albeit a tad under-developed. They helped the team and lent to poignant moments, but they were not really important.

    In TLoUP2, the message is about how everyone is dealing with the same issues, that everyone has people who they care about and that ANYONE can do terrible things if brought to it. Joel's redemption arc in the original was not about making him a good guy, it was about him finding something to fight for again. And audiences (me included) loved it. Yet in the end he slaughtered hundreds of people trying to find a cure for millions just to save Ellie. TLoUP2 is about the consequences and the never-ending cycle of revenge, and the costs.

    I'm just gonna include it here, both because I know many hate the topic, and also because I am a cis, white, hetero man and can only comment as such, but representation, of all kinds, is pretty spot on here, I believe. In my playthrough of the original leading up to release, I noticed that NONE of the AI characters were female presenting except infected. Just weird. The NPC enemy generator in TLoUP2 has EVERY combination of male/female and skin tone and that's a pretty cool detail. Also in regards to representation: I mean Ellie has definitely been gay since the first game (all but confirmed in the DLC). Additionally, the trans "story-line" isn't even a main plotline... it's just the reason why an important character is where they are when they're there. And if it were a main plotline... I guess this wouldn't be the game for you if it bothers you so much.

    All-in-all, a powerful and solid game to follow-up the original. Is it as good? I'm still processing that myself. But I highly recommend you find out for yourself, because, at the very least, I believe you could have a wonderful time, just like I did.    … Expand

I wish I could have a little bit more time playing with Abby and start liking her before she kills Joel. That would make a much bigger impact on me as a player and I wouldn't hate Abby as much as I did. I still love the time I had playing her caracter. Thr gameplay is perfect, not too far from the first onr with a couple of amelioration too make it spectacular. The graphics are amazing, especially the caracters designs. The journey was still great for me and I truly hope that one day I could revisit the world and the caracters of The Last of Us. The last thing that I found disturbing is the development of joel's personality. When you think about what he did during the forst game, all the traps and enemies he killed or escaped from,he sould have see Abby and her froup coming and not fall into her trap, like in the first game when the bandits wants to take is card by faking an injury. So long Joel and Ellie, I'll keep a good memories of those game and just hope to be abble to see more of that world someday in the future.… Expand

All the low ratings are done purposely to slate the game for literally no reason other than big gay moments, Joel's death, the fact you have to play as Abby or that the ending doesn't suffice. I will agree, everything post Seattle is a bit hit or miss, the story after Ellie and Abby's fight is a bit rough around the edges and seems rushed. The gameplay is amazing, better than the first games in my opinion, the graphics are stunning. Arguably some of the best facial animation and blood physics I've seen in recent years. Everyone saying the story is bad have hardly even played the game or played through the game with the mindset of the game being **** because of leaks and prerelease reviews. There's a huge hate train for this game and I really don't like the fact it exists. People who haven't even played the first game or know anything about the games are leaving bad reviews because other people are and it's stupid. I for one think this game is amazing, I don't think I prefer it over the first game but it's still a really good game and probably my favourite PS4 release overall… Expand

    Respecto a la jugabilidad y gráficos no tengo nada que decir, me encantó, era como vivir una aventura en carne y hueso. La trama a nivel personal me gustó, hubieron tanto momentos impactantes y crueles como conmovedores y eso hizo que brindara muchos momentos que cuesten superar. Al terminar el juego solo puedo decir que no creí lo que había visto, fue una experiencia que se asemeja a loRespecto a la jugabilidad y gráficos no tengo nada que decir, me encantó, era como vivir una aventura en carne y hueso. La trama a nivel personal me gustó, hubieron tanto momentos impactantes y crueles como conmovedores y eso hizo que brindara muchos momentos que cuesten superar. Al terminar el juego solo puedo decir que no creí lo que había visto, fue una experiencia que se asemeja a lo que sucedería en la vida real, muertes realistas y personas no siendo vistos solo como villanos, sino como personas grises que hacen acciones buenas y malas. Hubieron cosas que en la trama no me interesaron mucho, pero creo que esto es más a nivel personal como el jugar con cierto personaje, parte de su trama me encantó, pero habían aspectos de su vida que no me interesaban. El vivir este viaje con Ellie me encantó y a la vez el ver como actúa y se desarrolla en esta situación me parecieron geniales. El final si me hizo pensar y llegar a comprender por qué se hizo lo que se hizo y eso me gusta, que se pueda llegar a pensar sobre todo lo que tuvimos que digerir.
    También me hubiera gustado que se nos introdujeran un poco más de información sobre algunos personajes, darle mas protagonismo a otros para que sean mucho mas entrañables de lo que pudieron llegar a ser.    … Expand

    Superb successor to the first game with intense and engaging gameplay and an emotional story that gets you invested with the characters. Overall an amazing game that has a few story elements I would change personally but that's just me being nitpick.

Only negative I can speak to is the cutscenes feel long at times and now that I'm on the final stretch of gameplay I'm anxious to see it resolved.… Expand

    Its not perfect but its damn close to be... this game is one of those games where you either like it or you dont, there’s no middle ground... the story is beautiful, meaningful and makes you think a lot about your actions. And of course, shows you, that in every story, theres 2 or more different sides, and sometimes no one is right and its just a matter of perspective of the point of view.. 9/10

    I loved this game so much up until the very end scene but honestly still very much worth the 9/10. The graphics are insanely good, you almost forget its a video game. Loved all the new characters too, especially Dina. Im hoping they release another DLC or something though bc again the last scene was a little disappointing.

And you know what? That's exactly the point, the point the game is trying to make is that in the end nothing matters, and everything turns to **** There's no "happily ever after", there never was. For anyone. Ever. All there is is pain and sadness and finally death. That's human existence. The story is truly something I've never experienced in a game, the basic premise isn't new but the way it uses this premise and changes it in a way not often seen in mainstream media especially games. The basic premise is that it's a revenge story and this is nothing new, however what is new is that this game doesn't treat you like a badass for killing these people, it shines a light on the cruelty and negative impact violence has on people and demonstrates perfectly the impact & issues revenge killing ultimately brings. It also helps the gameplay is superior to the first, it's not a major overhaul or anything but just the quality of life improvements (such as the bows improved aiming) and the smoother gameplay (dodging is a huge part of making the gameplay flow a lot better than the first) make a huge difference to the overall experience. To end, both in the story & technical department, The Last of Us Part II is amazing and I would recommend everyone play it for themselves.

The story was great many people don’t like how Joel died but I believe it served its purpose while also making you feel sad. I’ve also seen people complain that Joel and Tommy were out of character which caused Joel’s death but after spending many year in a more comfortable life style than they were in previously it makes sense that they would slip up. We see Ellie’s fighting for revenge and the toll it takes on her every time she takes the life of one of these people. It destroys her and I’m the end she loses everything in search of revenge. Now for the character of Abby. People mention that Abby get everything while Ellie’s life is destroyed but that’s not true. She loses all of her friends and is cast out of her home. They both lost so much and are both tired and done which is why Ellie does what she did at the end. I throughly enjoyed the game beginning to end. It was an incredible experience that will stick with me for years to come. This is my opinion and if you don’t like it then I’m sorry but I do not care. I had a great experience.… Expand

It's crazy that Naughty Dog killed off our main protagonist at the very beginning of the game just to create a revenge plot. And then we are forced to play as the person who killed our beloved character. However, the graphics and gameplay are absolutely amazing! This is easily the best graphics on a 7 year old console.     Gameplay is solid but not groundbreaking, just like the first LoU. Action sequences though were some of the best I've seen in gaming and had me holding my breath.
    Story was not perfect and it hurt a lot at times, especially the prologue, but at the end of the day it moves on whether you want to or not. Pacing can be off at times but there are tender moments throughout that make it all worth it. On NG+ right now and I'm really looking forward to the second half of the game.

If you are unsure about weather or not to buy the game, do yourself a favor and watch some more professional reviews than the ones on here, as they are not only un based, but also riddled with spoilers.     Regarding the Story:

    The Story takes some really unexpected, gut punching, turns and sports a diverse cast of characters, which seems to be the main source of grief for most of the other reviews on here. I want to keep this part-2-spoiler free, so I won´t go into specific moments or characters here, but if you played it, you probably know what moments I am talking about.
    Now I expect most people interested in this game have played the first one, or at least know what happened in the first game, especially since both games are available on the PS4.
    That being said, spoilers for the first game ahead.
    The first games story was the story of violence in a post-apocalyptic world, were every faction thought the use of violence was justified to further their goals. (e.g. the military violently trying to keep order, the fireflies using violence to resist the military and the looters/raiders using violence with a survival of the fittest mindset.) No faction really objectively can be called an evil faction as a whole (Individuals of course can be) even cannibalism is to a certain degree an more of an act of desperation rather than on of evil intent. In this violent World, no one really wins, or gets what they want in the end. Joel may have gotten out of it with Ellie, but in doing so, lost friends and allies and basically doomed the human race by stopping the only chance at a cure for the virus. Joel himself is neither the bad , or the good guy of the story. Like the other factions, he thinks his own goals are just or at least necessary for survival. We see Joel kill and torture people without second thought to and in the end lieing to Ellie all so he can achieve his personal goals.
    Yet we still root for Joel, not just because he is the main character, but the game places you firmly in his point of view of the Story, you get to see how Joel grows as a character and how determined he becomes during the length of the game.

    So in conclusion: The first game was set in a brutal World, where everything can be taken from you at any time, because from someone elses point of view they had the right, or the obligation to do so.

    That being said, it is utterly incomprehensible to me that people complain, when this is also the case in part 2. The world is still violent and everyone thinks their killing is justified, be it out of revenge, or subjective necessity.
    So in my opinion, no the Story is not out of place for the series.

    Regarding gameplay: Not that much has changed since part one, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
    The Combat encounters feel still very intense, weather you try to sneak around, try to make what little supplies you have count, or getting creative by luring enemies into traps. There are a few new mechanics (going prone, tall grass and pistol silencers for example) however the encounters in itself lack a bit of variety when looking at the series as a whole. There are both new kinds of humans and infected to fight, although be it very few, but most encounters play out the same where you sneak around until you get caught and have to either improvise, or hide to surprise enemies from a flank or go back to stealth. However these mechanics control very fluently and it is very satisfying to see the AI react to your approaches. (though I really wish the companion AI would do a better job of not blocking me or taking the best cover spot for themselves)
    I do wish there were more encounters with infected and humans. It is always fun making these groups fight each other while observing the carnage/using the distraction to sneak away.
    Outside of Encounters there are some larger areas, where you can explore and potentially stock up on supplies, get more context to the story or simply have some small encounters, that tell a story about the world itself.

    About the Graphics: Not really much to say here that hasn´t already been said, it is one of the best looking games on the PS4, the environments burst with details and the level design is well executed, so that you don´t get stuck and get an introduction whenever something new is introduced, so that text pop up tutorials don´t have to interrupt the gameplay (e.g. you see a new infected Type fight other survivors before having to fight one yourself)

    In conclusion: The Game is very well made.
    The Story, in my opinion, fits the tone that the first game has set for the World.
    The Gameplay is fun, if also repetitive after a while

Not as good as the original TLoU but i went in not expecting it to come close to the masterpiece of that game, and I came out satisfied. The game looks amazing and gives different perspectives on the events in TLoU part 1 and forces you to choose between Ellie or Abby. Feeling anger at Abby over the game and then learning the pain that Abby felt at the hands of Joel helping to show the vengeance she desired just as Ellie feels the need for vengeance against Abby. Overall I would gladly recommend the game and will definitely add it to the top of my list for must play PS4 games.… Expand

People who decided that they hated it when the leaked came out and resolved to never play it. There are few games I’ve ever played that are this perfect. Even when I felt like the game was slowing down or going in a direction that I didn’t want it to go, in the end, it came to a dramatic and emotional end that honestly left me breathless.     An excellent game, maybe seen as bad because of the first part that was one of the most brillant game of his generation.
    Now Naughty Dogs tried to create an original scenario where most people just wanted to keep playing Joel, to keep playing a road trip, to keep playing the same game. People are just disappointed because they expected to play The last of us 1 again.

    I just finish the game, It was an amazing experience. I love that you can play the both side of their story. Hoping for a third part for some good closure of Ellie's story, I'm now on my second run of the game, trying to hit the platinum trophy.
    9/10 for Ellie's part
    8/10 for Abby's part

    Eines der beste Spiele, die ich je gespielt habe. Die Story eines Spiels hat mich noch nie so mitgenommen wie diese. Die Handlungen der Charakter sind für micht total nachvollziehbar. Die KI ist deutlich besser als im ersten Teil, Grafik und Musik sind top. Das Spiel könnte etwas kürzer sein aber das wars auch schon was mir nicht gefällt.

In the previous game it explores the grieving feelings and depression of being unable to do something about losing someone (Sarah), control of your life and the reality that you live (20years of smuggling and stop caring about his brother and life ) ; and in this sequel, Ellie handles her grief for Joel with anger, retaliation and dealing with all the pain that she knows she will have to do ( to her enemies, her friends, partner and herself) and willingly lose her life to avenge the one who gave her a new meaning to her existence (joel was a pretty good almost-dad to her). I really don’t enjoy shooters or survival games but the story keeps you going.… Expand

In Defense of The Last of Us Part II: The original Last of Us is arguably the best game of 2013 when it was released for PS3, and irrefutably in many Top 10 game lists of the past decade. The story of Joel and Ellie bonding through mutual trauma showed us how humans heal, bond, and persevere through horrible experiences. While we all remember The Last of Us fondly we are quick to forget that it was a truly depressing game. Joel and Ellie experience a grueling journey filled with deception, pain, and death all veiled in a dim glimmer of hope that the player helps Joel in extinguishing during the climax of the game. The player is forced to take a backseat as they instruct Joel in his systematic rampage of dismantling the last hope for humanity. Joel chooses the life of his surrogate daughter over anyone else. While many of us forgive Joel now 7 years after the fact it is important to remember that this was a divisive ending for many. Not all of us wanted to save Ellie. We all knew Ellie was willing to die to save humanity and many of us hated Joel for robbing us of our agency in choosing the ending we thought the game deserved. Still after taking time to process this pain we could see more clearly that we would have done the same. That was the true message of the Last of Us. We are all monsters with the best intentions.
    The Last of Us Part II picks up where Joel and Ellie left off living out their days in a growing settlement clearly doing their best to move on from their traumatic past. The game is a visual masterpiece from the start appearing almost photorealistic on PS4 Pro. The dialogue, acting, music, and visuals all create an engrossing experience and define the Last of Us Part II as a technically flawless experience. The game could get top marks on these facts alone so what is there to hate. The only thing up for debate is the story. The story is purposefully problematic and many negative reviews reflect that. This review is in defense of The Last of Us Part II shaped by my personal experience. The Last of Us Part II is a bad experience and in saying that I don’t mean it is a bad game. As stated above the game is technically a masterpiece but the story is challenging to say the least. This game purposefully makes you feel like a bad person for playing it. The game forcibly traumatizes you repeatedly through the death and maiming of characters, forcing you to commit acts of dehumanization, and ultimately making you empathize with an antagonist turned protagonist who we would like nothing better than to torture and kill with a blunt object like she did to Joel an hour into the game. The game does not pull a single punch and each one of them lands forcibly due to amazing acting and a beautiful sound track that carry this story to an entertainment level that has left me at a loss for words at times. This game is not the game we wanted and it certainly does not have the ending we wanted but through deeper reflection it’s easy to see that both of those details just further enrich the experience. The Last of Us Part II is a better game and a more profound piece of art because it is so painful. This may be one of the best and worst pieces of art to come at a time like this. A time where we are actively experiencing a global pandemic, unprecedented institutionalized brutality, and losing loved ones close to us isn’t the best time for a game mirroring this reality to be released. The Last of Us Part II is a game about trauma, and how improperly processing trauma will only lead to more pain. The lessons it teaches could be critical for many in processing our collective societal trauma we all are currently experiencing. The game teaches us the importance of empathizing with our enemies and how trauma cannot be healed through violence. While this lesson is simple and may seem obvious to most of us the truth is that it isn’t. Some people still think that violence can solve problems and it’s not right to dismiss this important lesson just because it has been seen in other media. The lesson of revenge is painted realistically across the game and shows the player the consequences of their actions only after it’s too late to dismantle them. This is just one of many lessons from queer/trans rights to the dangers of herd mentality that The Last of Us Part II isn’t afraid to address. This game has an agenda of inclusivity and acceptance that many games still fail to strive for and rarely achieve. It’s message never feels forced and instead occurs organically as the story progresses. The climax rings hollow as a reflection of the mistakes we’ve made to lead us there and we as the player are left thinking what could we have done differently if anything. Only complaints I have, no multiplayer, I want co op. 9/10. The Last of Us Part II is a bad experience resulting in a beautiful piece of art. These are just my thoughts. Play it and form your own opinion, it’s well worth the journey.    … Expand

    The Combat has been refined and added onto significantly, the story makes you question everything you fight for. Definitely a must-play and an amazing swan song for the PS4 No spoilers. Just play it.
