    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t fully comprehend all the hate this game received from users (or streamers). **** amazing. The whole team did a great job. Visuals, gameplay, soundtrack, acting and even storyline. Haters are just too attached to a character. We all know he had it coming. Joel is not a hero nor a villain. The way he died and for it to happen almost at the beginning of the game is what triggered the hate most. And then you have to play Abby. It’s a post apocalyptic world. People react based on the circumstances and it doesn’t make them an evil person as whole. It’s not always black and white. I love it. Even the situation of Ellie eventually being alone at the end. Heartbreakingly beautiful. But still, the first game was **** epic which is like the best game ever so it’s a 10 for me. So I’m giving part II a 9.5 just because Joel and Ellie forever.… Expand

    It's definitely not gonna please everyone. But I feel it manages to have a really strong story that at first let me a bit conflicted. But it's definitely more on the line of a revenge tail. It manages to make some risks, and makes a lot of twists and turns I wasn't fully expecting. While I can't say this is better than the first. I still think it was an incredible experience with lots ofIt's definitely not gonna please everyone. But I feel it manages to have a really strong story that at first let me a bit conflicted.     Much has been said and written about The Last of Us Part II. The hate this game has received is totally misplaced. Sure, you may not like some of the twists and turns of the story (like I did) but that doesn't detract from the incredible quality of the game itself.

    Part 2 was better than its predecessor in almost all aspects. Part 1 remains my all time favorite because the development in    Much has been said and written about The Last of Us Part II.     Part 2 was better than its predecessor in almost all aspects. Part 1 remains my all time favorite because the development in the story and characters was more intimate. What I've really missed is more moments between Ellie and Joel. Which makes me look back with melancholy to part 1.

    Nevertheless, I have never played such an ambitious and realistic looking game with so much care in worldbuilding, level design, details and subtle way of storytelling. It was a mature, horrifying, harsh, exciting and beautiful experience.

    Part 1 was about finding the light and a reason to live. Part two was about seeking the darkness and a reason to kill. Both with hope towards the future. Both unique.

    After completing part II, I thought about the game and how the story fits together for days and everything fell in its place. If you pay attention to the little details it will give you the closure you need with a lovely and pure ending.

Just like the first game this game left me thinking, questioning and wondering about the characters choices, motives, mindset, actions and future outcome. I was left wanting more from the story.

    I made the choice to view the spoilers before release to confirm if certain rumours were true such as the character Abby being transgender, Ellie and Dina being killed by Abby, playing the end half of the game as Abby and the BS naughty-dog agenda of trying the shamelessly push and fit their SJW beliefs into the Last of Us universe. Although I took the risk of viewing heavy spoilers I was glad that I
    watched it as I discovered most of the rumours were not true and to no surprise I realised the pushers of these rumours where morons who assumed by the Abby characters appearance that she was transgender and ran with it.

    Although playing the game knowing the spoilers made playing the first chapter of the game less impactful I still enjoyed the experience and was worth playing from beginning to end.

    Knowing that the game is about hate I feel the stories focus was authentic and fitting to the last of us universe.

    Although I didn't like that Joel was killed and so early in the game when I look at the bigger picture I understood that at least from my perspective the last of us universe is a dark, brutal, violent, destructive world with high stakes, high risks and highly dangerous events and encounters and combined created a deeply violent but highly complex, unique and special character like Joel.

    I could not say he was a hero in the first game but I could understand why he made the choices he made. I just see him as human, someone who tried to avoid but ended up naturally bonding with Ellie in their original journey. I feel I can't judge him for caring so much for Ellie to kill anyone that would end her life for a possible vaccine to save humanity.

    From the first game I would always wonder why a character like Joel would fight so hard to just survive in such a bleak, depressing and dangerous world with very little hope of change especially after losing his daughter Sarah. A character with so few morals (which I can't blame him for living in that world) would fight, kill and slaughter everyday just to survive another day and I just couldn't understand what was his drive or motivation to continue fighting in that world.

    Whatever his motivation was it lead him to meeting Ellie and he eventually found someone worth living and fighting for and did not want to risk loose that. He had no regrets in robbing Ellie of her choice to end her life for the possibility of a vaccine.

    I feel Joels past action were wrong, selfish and immoral but I can't blame him for making those choices. At the end of the day I feel he was a product of his environment. However I understand that Joels actions had consequences just like in real life. Joels choice to save Ellie sadly came at a cost of Abby's father being killed in the process with many other fireflies. It was inevitable that Joels past actions would catch up to him eventually and I could understand and except Joels death by Abby for revenge. I only wished his death wasn't so early on in the game as I would of liked to see more of Joel settled in Jackson along with Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Maria and Tommy.

    I understand that their where more backstories for some characters that where cut from the final game which was a shame as I would of liked to learn and know more about existing and new characters introduced in this game especially Joel.

    I liked playing as Ellie in the first part of the game but at times felt the pacing was slow and tedious but the gameplay and encounters kept me engaged. I really like how well the relationship with Ellie and Dina was crafted and wanted to see more of Dina with Ellie on her Journey to kill Abby.

    When it came to playing as Abby I initially felt fatigued and had little interest in seeing her world from her perspective. I did not dislike her for killing Joel as I understood her motives for it however I did not like her choices made in the the process of killing Joel. I hated watching Abby being saved by Joel before she kills him. It reminded me that Joel was a good person and Abby witnessed that and still killed him.

    I felt it was unwise of her to bring her team of friends to help her find and just kill Joel. This one person. In such a violent world it just felt unwise to take the time to risk your lives on the hope of helping Abby to track down and kill one person. It was also risky and to leave Ellie alive after killing Joel.

    It was obvious that Ellie would track down Abby and her friends for revenge and I had little empathy for them when Ellie killed them all especially Mel. I hated Mel the most. Why would anyone in that world get pregnant? and her choice to join Abby in killing Joel while pregnant and judge Abby for it made me dislike her character.    … Expand

    Gameplay: The gameplay for this game is very familiar if you have played the first game with some additional tweaks to make it better and not to mention it is brutal and visceral. The dodge button adds a bit of strategy to melee encounters as enemies can counter you and get hits off. No longer can you just mash square for a guaranteed kill. Ellie is more nimble than Joel. She can jump up to high locations, squeeze through cracks and go prone. Being prone is a game changer as you can hide under cars, shoot while laying down and even craft while laying down. It adds another element to stealth. AI is greatly improved as they will sneak, flank and shoot you behind cover. I can't count how many times I'm getting shot at from someone I couldn't see and spot an enemy peaking out from a crack in the wall. Infected enemies remain relatively the same except for the stalkers who are greatly improved and will hide behind cover and attack you when you least expect it. Standard issues with 3rd person camera obstructing your view. Overall: 9.5

    Sound: Not much to say here. It is top notch. Gunshots echo through the air, enemies gargle and choke on their blood after a stab with Ellie's knife. Infected sound visceral and scary as ever especially the clickers. The soundtrack is intense and heightens pivotal moments. Voice acting is great. Although I haven't tried it, it is recommended to play this game with surround sound headphones to enhance the experience. Overall: 10

    Performance: for a Naughty Dog game which is usually polished I was surprised to see the occasional glitch in this game. I had downloaded the day 1 patch however got an instance where Dina's body didnt fully load through an escape sequence, Ellie teleporting and then having audio sync issues, and a huge framerate drop during a scene heavy on graphics that required a restart of the checkpoint. Nothing game breaking but took me out of the immersion for those moments. Overall: 9

    Graphics: The game is beautiful. The details in the character models and environments are amazing. There's not much to say here besides it is on another level. Facial animations are so good you can tell see every ounce of emotion on the character's face without them saying anything. Overall: 10

    Story: Here is the big one and the most controversial one. I can 100% see why fans of the original Last of Us don't like this story. This game takes huge chances in character decisions, story arcs, and perspective. But I very much enjoyed it. I've thought about this and this was probably the worst game to ever get leaked ahead of time because you truly can't appreciate the story without playing it. The characters are so complex you simply can't get a sense of who they are through video clips. The story challenges you to see violence from the perspective of different people with their own motivations and lives. The main story isn't really about revenge as much as it is about empathy. It's so hard to describe this story without spoiling, but the main thing is it is full of twists and turns, and it will bring out your emotions. It is also much more darker than the first game. It isn't perfect though. There are moments where it dragged for me especially towards the end. I felt like it was going to end like 3 different times. And there is a moment in the middle of the game that kind of turns things upsides down which can feel a bit jarring and disjointed from the main plot of the story. Another criticism I have is I wish they would have made the reason for the decisions some of the characters make more clear especially at the end. You are left open to interpret which I understand that was by design but also leaves you a little confused and feeling without closure. Basic summary: Ellie is living in a nice city with an established community. A tragedy occurs and she sets out on a quest for revenge. That obsession with revenge is explored in how it changes her and the people around her. Her relationship with Joel is explored as well as the lie he told her at the end of the first game. Overall I think this story does an amazing job with storytelling and the message its trying to give despite some long winded moments and structure issues. Overall: 8.5

    This is a very beautiful game. Of course, it will not go around The first Part of The soul, but The developers tried, and it is clear that they put their soul into this project. The game put very interesting - a good continuation of this story!

    Just play the game without being spoiled before, so you dont even get to know before who you are going to play. In fact i was really blown away of the twist and perspective change. I did really not expect that, and this also made this game so special for me.
    For me this game is a masterpiece and it lets you go through so many feelings.

    This game is awesome. I haven't been able to put it down since I started playing. Yeah bad things happen to the characters that you like but this is the world that the Last of Us is set in. I like the stealth. Controlling the gun is a bit irritating but I think that's just me dealing with a console instead of playing on a PC.     I really like the story and the graphics are amazing. The game play is great although largely unchanged from the original. It loses a point from me because I think the pacing fails in some of the later half of the game but it is still very much worth playing and buying at retail price. At the onset you cannot aim well, your firearms sway when you aim and aiming while moving is a feat this becomes easier as the game progresses but you have to earn it. It feels appropriate considering the game is about struggling against the world and everything in it.
    A ton of people are dragging this game for unbelievable character reactions and choices but I think that they are justified within the context of the narrative. It is a blind rage, seeing red, bloodlust fueled, quest for revenge and the characters are obsessed with extracting their vengeance. ND is trying to say something about loss and letting go of those who have seriously hurt you and how that is not an easy or possible task in some instances. Are they completely successful? No. Is is objectively bad? Also no. This game is great and should be judged on its merits instead of what the fans wanted instead. If this were the first game no one would be complaining.    … Expand

    Muito bom o jogo, a gameplay foi aprimorada em relação ao primeiro.
    Os gráficos são incríveis, ficam entre os melhores da geração, cenários, texturas, expressões faciais quase perfeitos.
    Já a história tomou um rumo bem diferente do esperado, mas está longe de ser ruim, apesar de não agradar a todos.

    This is a game that requires the player to have an open mind on the story and respect the author's creative direction, instead of wishing to dictate how the story should be like. There are so many negative reviews that criticize the story direction NaughtyDog took, but I applaud them for doing so instead of doing fan-service and produce a likable but predictable story of Ellie and Joel.This is a game that requires the player to have an open mind on the story and respect the author's creative direction, instead of wishing to dictate how the story should be like.     After completing the game, I am glad that I've ignored all the good and bad comments about the game and took my time to enjoy the game as a whole. In short, if you wondering whether you should invest your time in this game, I wholeheartedly say YES and skip the rest of my review below.

    Here are a few thoughts about the game after completion (no spoilers):

    1. STORY: In my opinion, the story and the way it unfolds throughout the game is very well thought through and crafted. Yes, the violence is a bit over the top at times, and there are times where I wish I am able to intervene certain scripted actions of my characters. However, having that feeling also proves the story has grown on me and I care about what the characters' actions going to be. Not many games that I played in the past were able to do that to me.
    Having said that, the reason to have the last chapter of the game felt a bit forced so we get a more climactic end. Rather being analytical about it, just enjoy it. Also to note is the key story lesson imparted to the player will only be revealed at the very end of the game, and it's something that has been echoed by the supporting characters around our two key characters of the game.

    2. GAMEPLAY: I vaguely remember how TLOU1 plays like, but overall the gameplay mechanics felt the same with some enhancements. Nothing wrong with that as it retains what's already great in the first game. As a casual FSP game player, I did wished the character movement and weapon aiming mechanics could be more snappy rather. The introduction of sniffing dogs which will hunt you down and some tough infected beings is a good addition, which forces me to move around sometimes instead of just hiding in the same spot of comfort.
    Enemy AI is probably one of the weakest points of this game overall, where at times they feel downright dumb. Maybe it will be improved when playing at a higher difficulty setting (I played in Moderate setting).

    3. GRAPHICS & GAME ATMOSPHERE: No question on the graphics department, as NaughtyDog would have spent a lot of effort from various concept art of game locations to the detailed finished environment of the various game locations. But what I loved the most is the sound design. From the tranquil rainfall of Seattle to the eerie silence of dark, infested rooms and buildings, it really draws me into the situation of the characters in the game.

    4. MUSIC: Love it, the songs are very well composed for the game in cutscenes, and blends well to the various real-time events during the game very well. Not to mention a few pieces of songs sang by some game characters with accompanying acoustic guitar.

    5.     Una obra maestra del género que todo buen jugador debería probar. Creo que no llega al nivel del primero pero aún así me parece una obra maestra, superándolo en diversidad de armas y técnicas de combate. Totalmente recomendable.

For me the story is fine I understand why everybody is whining about Joel dying, I liked how dark that aspect was even though I love Joel, Joel was a dead man walking after all he did in the first game but seeing him die like that in front of Ellie made me want to go after each and every single WLF and explode their heads to oblivion. As far as the Abby storyline I liked that too, finding out her father was the surgeon working on Ellie at the end of the first game who Joel killed I understand why she did the things she did. 9/10… Expand

I played the game with an open mindset since I saw how users hate the game, during the first 2 hours of the game we witness Joel's death and I won't say that it was a reasonable way to kill him... it was not, I expected that Joel would die in the game, how I expected that is pretty simple, this is Ellie's story not Joel and Ellie from the first game, it was clear from the E3 Reveal, game cover and from the interviews. The reason to why they killed Joel is reasonable but the way they killed him was unreasonable.

    That brings me to Abby, I don't see a single reason why Naughty Dog thought that the player would sympathize with Abby. It is impossible to sympathize with the game's antagonist. Unlike Ellie, Abby is a very evil character, she has no morals... she kills her own with no remorse. Ellie on the other hand she is on a journey to "Kill Every Last One of Them" there are some scenes where Ellie kills Abby's friends/followers and she doesn't feel good about it, she has morals unlike Abby. At the same time the fan base have known Ellie since the release of the game and people liked her from her silliness and overall a funny character while she was learning from Joel. Abby is a new character that begun with an evil approach, no one cares about her flashbacks with her dad, nor can sympathize when showing us that she plays with a couple of pooches.

    Incredible game, the atmosphere, pacing, characters and story were all fantastic. My only complaint is that parts dragged on a bit, so some combat felt a bit artificial, but otherwise the pacing was great and I really enjoyed all of the “downtime”. This is what gaming should strive for, immersive storytelling at its best, and still one of the best looking games period.

    Absolutely smasging game, great attention to detail on every step. The story is superb and it does keep you on your toes. It would have been a 10/10 if not for a little to much of LGBT+ agenda beeing pushed that really didn't fit the story at certain points.

Как раз один из минусов ее искусственная "затянутость", но это компенсируется геймплеем и боевыми сценами. Если первая часть была добротным фильмом, то вторая часть скорее сериал из 10 серий, 2-3 серии можно было бы удалить.

    Многие упрекают ее в уничтожении главного героя, но пройдя полностью для меня это не было огромной потерей. Как раз игра задает настрой и атмосферу, в этот раз она разрушительная и гнетущая. После прохождения наступает опустошение эмоциональное, т.к. на протяжении всей игры сильно привязываешься и к Элли и на удивление к Эбби. Нападки в сторону сюжетных поступков компенсируются внимательным прохождением.

    "Джоэл глупо подставил себя ..."
    Живя в защищенной местности и периодически встречая небольшие группы они с Томми приглашали в Джексон путешественников. Т.к. понимали что голодные, уставшие чужаки вряд ли откажутся от крова и еды.

    "Эбби ну прям мега нереальная ..."
    Её руководило только чувство мести, все навыки и форму, которую она приобретала в WFL, нужны были ради одного... Отмщения за любимого отца. Она была одержима и затем опустошена, после совершенной мести. С WFL ее уже ничто не связывало, после совершенного поступка и она искала новый смысл существования. Защита Лева, отношения с Оуэном как раз были зацепками к ее новой жизни.

    Претензии к навязыванию тем ЛГБТ или прочим штукам тоже необоснованны. В игре не показывают какие-то преимущества или доказывают "повестку", все в мире ТЛОУ2 страдают одинаково. Игра моментами через чур жестока и порой в Элли видишь безумие. Это наводит на мысли кто же в истории истинный злодей и есть ли они вообще в этой части...    … Expand

    An amazing and improved version of The Last of Us i terms of Gameplay and Graphics.....Naughty Dag did a very good job to using the PS4 hardware which is outdated and still developing this stunning looking game.The story was good too and I get why people hated it.....its not for everyone.
    Definitely a must play Game.

So let me just say one thing: Please, for the love of god, play the game before forming an opinion. Don't let anyone keep you from playing this. That being said there are moments here that are light to break up the shire amount of brutality. The opening gave me goosebumps and I instantly knew I was ready to jump back into this world once more. It's just marvelous stuff, but that's not saying I had this opinion straight away - play the second half with a open mind then you won't be disappointed.     This game will chew you up and spit you out by the end of it. It is a slap to the face, on purpose. When Joel died so suddenly, without even being able to interact with him in game, I was shocked and puzzled, like many people. Luckily, throughout Ellie's side of the story, there are flashbacks to memories that she had with Joel in years prior. These helped me see that even though Joel was dead, he was still with us. Nevertheless, I hated Abby and her friends, and relished the chance to hunt them down and kill them for what they had done. Another slap to the face happens near the middle of the game, when you suddenly must play as Abby. I could tell that the game was trying to get me to like her and see things from her side, but I still hated her. I told myself I was not going to have empathy for her. However, that did not go as planned. This story is complex and multifaceted. I realized that Abby and Ellie were both justified in their paths to revenge and closure. There is no good vs evil, hero vs villain, right vs wrong. Abby's experience with two young Seraphites wakes her up to the reality that she has lost herself, and when given the chance to exact revenge on Ellie for killing her friends, she instead spares her life, for a second time. This breaks the cycle of revenge. When Ellie hunts her down once more in order to find her own closure, she cannot go through with killing her. We are left to question what we would have done in these tough situations... And we are left to question whether it was all worth it.

    Overall, it was an emotionally compelling and gripping story, coupled with game play so brutal it made me feel dirty and squeamish. It is something that I am grateful to have experienced.    … Expand

She is no different in her motives from Ellie. But in the end she lost much more for external reasons. Unlike Ellie, who, in a fit of anger, turned her back on everyone whom she cherished.

    После этой игры, на финальных титрах под превосходную гитарную музыку ты сидишь с тяжелыми веками, грустным лицом и чувствуешь внутри полное опустошение. А значит, что цель сценаристов достигнута, ведь тоже самое испытывают и главные герои на протяжении всей своей истории. А благодаря восхитительной лицевой анимации, это с передается на 100%. Ты чувствуешь и видишь все, что твориться в их умах. Все о чем они думают, зачастую буквально читается в их глазах. При том, что я не увидел, будто сценаристы пытаются навязать какую то идею, что вот это хорошо, а вот это плохо. Просто дана история, максимально приближенная к тому, как она строилась бы не в идеально написанном вымышленном мире, а с учетом всех человеческих качеств, и того, что нам всем свойственно.

    Снизил бал лишь за "повестку меньшинств", убрав которую игра и сюжет ничего бы не утратили, просто уже реально поднадоела, так как суется везде и всюду, даже там где это не к месту и не более. Хотя в целом, о ней вспоминаешь только местами. В начале и под конец игры. В остальном, все на высшем уровне в рамках своего жанра. Геймплей, графика, погружение, техническое составляющее, дизайн уровней, анимации. Придраться просто не к чему. Don't get me wrong, I loved that guy as much as I love Ellie and Tommy and the first game in general, but for me it was so damn obvious that he's going to pay for what he did. Simplest choice a writer could make
    Plot's structure is, well, unconventional, but approaching it open-minded gives you a chance to understand characters of Ellie and Abby more.

    В остальном это отличный сюжет, если вы сможете отпустить свой подростковый максимализм и поиграть, блин, в игру.
    В основном из-за того, что Эбби качок, в одной сцене один(1!) из второстепенных персонажей говорит, что он транс, а также показываются лесбийский коитус...ах, да ещё баб много и слово шовинист сказали 3 раза - так вот из-за всего этого это игра про толлерастию с каждого угла, это игра пропаганда секс меньшиства исключительно из-за того, что показали как мужибаба Эбби убивает Джоэли, который для многих пример для подражания. И раз Джоэла убивает не другой Джоэл, или как минимум месячковый бог и героическим боев, а просот как бомжа клюшкой - то игра про толлерастию.
    При всём моем негативном отношении к радфему и навязывании альтернативной точки зрения в ущерб изначальной, именно в ущерб, т.е. агрессивно - я не смог в этой игре найти хоть что-то, что можно было подвести под идею пропаганды и ЛГБТ идей.
    Ну, чтож, про таких ревьюиров можно сказать только, "рыбак рыбака...".
    И если из-за душного стелса и не ясного, по началу сюжета за Эбби, я хотел ставить игре 5. То финал всё исправил. Это лучший финал этого, да и, наверное, прошлого года.

I think the story was told very well with great gameplay that perfectly encapsulates the first game while also building onto it. If you liked part 1 I would strongly recommend part 2 just be ready for a story that you dontNaughty Dog told the story they wanted to tell and it wasn't a story people wanted to hear.     One of my favorite game titles, it was very good game how I expected, but the story isn´t for everyone, the gameplay is amazing, characters are written great and emotions works, thanks naughty dogs for a very good experience :)

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
