But the last of us part II was one of the more realistic depictions of conflicts arising from this type of world, where all your choices had real consequences.     El juego es excelente pero muchas personas lo consideran como malo solo por ciertos elementos forzados como lo es la inclusión LGBT además de que la historia no fue comprendida hasta un tiempo después ya que mucha gente cree que solo trata de una búsqueda desesperada de venganza pero este representa las 5 etapas del duelo y las consecuencias de la mala reacción y al humanizar alEl juego es excelente pero muchas personas lo consideran como malo solo por ciertos elementos forzados como lo es la inclusión LGBT además de que la historia no fue comprendida hasta un tiempo después ya que mucha gente cree que solo trata de una búsqueda desesperada de venganza pero este representa las 5 etapas del duelo y las consecuencias de la mala reacción y al humanizar al antagonista(abby) solo logra ponerte en un punto medio entre quien debería de salir vivo en este caso por lo que al analizar todos los puntos este juego es excelente ya que tiene una historia aparentemente simple pero muy buena y compleja además de una muy buena jugabilidad variedad de escenarios además de la narrativa excelente en mi opinión vale completamente la pena solo tuvo un mal recibimiento por los possers y por que este juego fue incomprendido para mi es un 10/10… Expand

    The last of us part 2 tells a story that makes you feel every kind of emotions so deeply. Hate, love, sadness, happiness notions processed as perfect as first game. Amazing scenario aside gameplay and ambiance are awesome as well.

    Its insane how ND made a perfect game even better in part 2. I actually like the story a lot more in part 2. I feel like Joel needed to die, especially early, for the story to progress and for Ellie to grow as a character. The whole revenge plot is both complex and compelling. Also all of the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie are that much more tender because he died. Also this game does anIts insane how ND made a perfect game even better in part 2.     The game shows that there is not a good and a bad side, this only depends off the point of view that you have. What you think is right and just for you destroys the other part.

    it's so funny reading all those washed up "gamers" review-bombing the game before it was even released haha. Btw this game is a 10/10, at this date i still think gamers weren't ready for this kind of story, we are used to play those story where we are the good and the hero and the baddie is, well.. bad.     Played this game after a year and a half of release because of all the release fud, and I'm really glad I could get past that and focus on my own player experience. Overall, I think the story was well thought out. Abby stepped up to the plate (no pun intended) even though she knew she was going to be a hated character from the get-go.... And she was, but they made her that way on purpose. We had to hate her, ellie had to hate her, so we could play through her revenge phase and EXPERIENCE Ellie's rage right along side of her. But also to experience the emotional and psychological scars, the guilt, the shame.... Then comes Abby.... was it easy to play as her? No. But I enjoyed getting to know her, her back story, her motives, her friends, and what she was all about. And to walk a mile or two in her shoes really gives some perspective on the emotional and psychological turmoil she too was going through. Both Ellie and Abby loved and lost and both sought revenge, and neither found what they were looking for: closure. Instead, they both suffered further consequences. This isn't just a flat 2-d story of revenge, this game goes so much deeper. It was a longer game, 25+ hrs, but that time is needed to build an understanding. I think a revenge plot, fulfilled, would have fallen flat as a story line with no character arc. Instead we experience a game with more emotions and conflict than ever before. I went in knowing and wanting to hate Abby, but left the game wanting to know more about her and her situation and, if I'm being completely honest for a guy who hasn't pretty much zero empathy for anyone, had a great amount of empathy and compassion for what she'd been through by the end. It's so strange of an ending as you don't know who to root for anymore. The game helps you with that as you don't have a choice, but looking back, I think that would have been a saving grace for the whole controversy this game underwent.... Just the allowance of the end-user to make a choice as to how they wanted things to end. And that choice would lead to it's own ending and consequences for the character. (Far Cry pulls it off time and again, why couldn't TLOU do it?) At the end, it's a story with 2 distinct character arcs, and comes down to the simplicity of forgiveness. I do believe the game had some of it's own agenda items to push and I don't necessarily agree with the major push behind that, but I won't get into that here as I didn't see that it detracted that much from the story, but definitely skirted the line of unnecessary intrusion. Not taking any points off for that. Gameplay was great, graphics were great, weapons and upgrade system was fine, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, but due to the personal emotional turmoil, I don't know that I'd go through it again. That and the jump scares, daggum this game had some solid effing scares in it! Speaking of jump scares, the sound design was spot on, the musical score was spot on.... Overall, was dark and gritty, gruesome and graphic, but a masterpiece in it's own way. I'd like to see some DLC's on how things ended up afterwards. I think there's some loose ends the player base may be interested to know more about.… Expand

    TLOU2; The best post-apocalyptic game I've played, was an incredible masterpiece in every cases but in some situations, it was evident that the directors and the writers, Wanted to enforce somethings that people would hate that its happend.
    Anyway, This was masterpiece!!!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think sadly, in a way, the story of this game was too progressive for its audience and for the gaming culture of today. Whilst it's brutal and emotionally difficult to process, I think the game accurately portrays grief and loss and how it can change a person to the point that they are unrecognisable. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's a perfect game, there are flaws the same as all, but I don't think it deserves the amount of hate it receives.

    The reason why I have given it a 10 is because in my eyes, the story makes perfect sense, the scenery and music is beautiful and the game play is just really fun. Joel dying in the beginning happened because he had it coming to him, as unfortunate and devastating as that is (I cried for hours). Ellie then turns into a person that we don't recognize from the first game, fuelled by hatred and betrayal and sadness as a now grown adult. That's another thing people seem to forget: Ellie is not the same person that she was in the first game. She's not 14 anymore, she's come into her adult self (probably influenced by Joel as the father figure later in her life) and therefore her actions portray as such.

    The game, if played with the right mindset, makes the reader question every moral they have by playing as both Abby and Ellie. Playing as Ellie, Abby in the beginning is the antagonist but as you come to the end of Ellie's time in Seattle, you start to see her almost as the villain. Playing as Abby, the killer of much loved Joel, you start to understand why everything panned out in the way that it did and in turn see her side of things and begin to see Ellie and Joel as the antagonists of her story. The game highlights loss and the cycles of revenge that are seemingly never-ending--it also makes you question every belief you have about the original characters.

    I think to be honest, people who dislike this game only dislike it because Joel died and that doesn't come across well after he was the protagonist of the first game. I think they find things to hate about the game, such as the fact that both protagonists are female, or that Ellie is a lesbian, or that Abby doesn't appear like the societal beauty standard of a woman or even that Joel dies and base their opinion of the whole game on small things like this.
    When in fact, if you zoom out so to speak, and look at the entire picture, you can probably see that the game has one of the most intense and beautiful stories of all time in my opinion. It's an emotional rollercoaster, but worth it.

    The game deserves better ratings, I thought it was phenomenal.    … Expand

    Naughty Dog obviously wanted to make a darker sequel that makes you think. Never have a been so motivated to do something in a game before and yes the writers did do Joel wrong, Joel was a selfish piece o **** sure, but in the world of the Last of us, you probs would be too. There's some problems to the game such as a couple story shortcomings but that's it. This game is graphically the best looking game I have seen to date, there's no denying that. Gameplay is improved from the last game in every possible way and if you think it's too simple or easy, turn the difficulty up!! I promise the higher difficulties in this game will have your heart pumping and will have you holding your breath in almost any encounter to hope that the enemy won't hear you. IMMERSIVE. The original score/soundtrack in this game is intense, heart-pumping, anxiety-inducing greatness. Some characters die yes, this is a horrid extremely violent post-apocalyptic world where literally all humanity has left the mf chat my guy. The detail put into this game is jaw-dropping, you blow somebody's head off with a magnum, them ****s looks like you blew somebody's head off with a mf magnum bruh. Realistic, gory, DARK, emotional, and thought-provoking. If the darkness in this game is too scary for you, then you probably wouldn't last very long in the world of The Last of Us, along with that one Asian chick playing the ps vita that you stab in the throat.    … Expand

    I can understand all the hate about this game. My wife put only 1 of 10. But I just finished it and I feel myself so… I just don’t have words. Depressed maybe.

    I spent like 30+ hours trying to loot as more as I can, search for every item possible and most of the time I was a bit complaining about the story. But at the end - screw all my complains. The story is just great. The way they    I can understand all the hate about this game. My wife put only 1 of 10. But I just finished it and I feel myself so… I just don’t have words.     Even though this game was about revenge and violence it was a story about mainly forgiveness and that revenge is not the answer. Gameplay and user interface was awesome so realistic ganeplay.

Of course I was sad when joel died but I still believe that this is one of the best games ever made, Story, Gameplay, and everything else about this game was fantastic.     If you want a game with great gameplay and impactful storytelling this is the one for you.

    For the uninitiated, The Last of Us universe has the player living in a post-apocalyptic world where survival is tough. There are many ways to survive in the world, but most people group together to form communities or militia. The government is mostly gone, like the population. You play as characters trying to live in this world.

    I loved the first game and never thought anything would come close to matching the impact of that story, but the continuation of the story in part two blew me away. The game play is phenomenal. The only problem with the first game for me was that the gameplay was clunky and didn't match quality of the story. That isn't a problem here, where both are superb. I like the changes they made in game play. It is so handy not having to craft a shiv for half the game! I like that you can play stealthily or aggressively. I'm a mix of both, but as someone who isn't a great gamer I tended to use stealth as much as possible, so being able to go prone really suited my play style.

    I love stories where the characters are flawed but make human decisions, whether good or bad. The Last of Us Part 2 tells a story where the players make tough, heartbreaking and sometimes awful decisions. The story takes you places where few others dare to go, mostly because they play it safe to appease the angry and loud minority that tarnish the internet. The story is all the better for it. The journeys that the characters went through were so well thought out and written with amazing performances.

    I really enjoyed the story some of the story was really heartbreaking, like the obvious death, to the decisions of Ellie and Abby later in the game. It is a game where the player gets to experience every emotion, which speaks to the quality of the writing and the performances.

    I hated Abby for what she did but it doesn’t take the user long to get over it because he portion if the game explains why what happened happened.

    This is a game everyone should play. 10/10 would play again and again. It's an experience I can't keep gushing about.

    Despite all the bad ratings, I honestly think this is the best game that Naughty Dog has ever released (Besides Uncharted 4 which still my favorite).

    Naughty Dog has become the market standard in-terms of Story-driven game which in my opinion, they never fail to deliver a great narrative to all of us players.     I believe all the bad ratings is completely sentimental which not directly talking about the game as a whole. Most of the players of course disappointed in the decision to get rid of Joel in the 1st Q of the game but I do completely understand which makes me think that this game is incredible that you are able to make players attached to Joel so much that they hate Naughty Dog because of they decide to kill Joel in this game.

    It's a complete shock to The Last of Us fans that they probably couldn't take it anymore but I think its the best way to make a more impactful and meaningful story as The Last of Us Part II is all about we live as Ellie not as Joel. So, How to pass the baton from Joel to Ellie? You know the answer as I think Its wonderfully written and executed, yet brutal. It's a perfect way to ignite ourselves to be invested in Ellie. Although, I gonna say I'm more invested in Abby arc then Ellie because it's more dynamic and meaningful which some of you might give a bad review due to this Abby arc.

    There's also a very deep message in this game which all about revenge. When you lost someone and you took the path of revenge, you'll end up losing more. Both Ellie and Abby ending up losing all they had before (people they love and place that they can call home).

    I also would like to appreciate Naughty Dog as they didn't play safe at all and they break all people expectation that all kinds of story will have a "Hollywood Ending".

    I hope this bomb review didn't affect Naughty Dog to much to be creative and different from another game studio. Looking forward to see another masterpiece from you, Naughty Dog as currently nobody can beat you in-terms of Story or Narrative.    … Expand

    Absolute phenomenal, masterpiece, superb story. Insanely good play on emotions.
    From anger to love, from hate to heartbreak and tears. Everyone who criticised this game and rated it 1 for Lgbt topics should think twice about their existence because i found one MOMENT when I thought "oh right... I get it... enough". But it didn't affected a whole story...

It's brilliant how we see the world from a single lens and we choose to ignore any other. This game "forces" you to experience what it's like on the other side, know that we're all humans with a willingness to survive. Everyone have loved ones and everyone is willing to go through a lot to preserve them.

    I honestly never played a game that played with my emotions like that. To sympathize with the enemy? That took me by surprise.

    I do recommend playing this game, but a word of advice, keep an open mind while doing so. Let go of your attachments to characters and actually listen to the message being delivered. Try to feel what it's like to be Ellie, Joel, or Abby. It's not a one dimensional story, there's depth to it.    … Expand

    My score of 10 is a protest against all the ones and zeroes given by clueless people that don't know how proper rating is done. Just because your favourite character was killed you rate it 0? Seriously? I would actually rate this game at 7 or 8. Joel is not a hero as many seem to think. He went against Ellies will to create a cure for the humanity. He doomed the whole civilization to live with this horrible infection. He killed so many people in his way for his own selfish reasons.

    The bad

    The story is of course the main disapointment. It seems too stretched, especially at the end. It wen't quite well actually until the game started switching from Ellie to Abby and different timelines. It was very confusing and hard to follow. Ellies part was quite good mostly but I think that Joel's death shouldn't be at the beginning of the game. Abby's part felt especially full of unnecessarily slow gameplay (if you can call walking around a gameplay).

    The good

    I played on hard difficulty and the game seemed balaced. The resources were scarse but I always had just enough to get me through different situations. AI seemed quite clever as well. Constantly flanking and without obvious patrolling patterns forcing you to move around and look for ways to use the environment to your advantage.

    Same as part one, guns feel heavy and powerful but my favourite is close combat. Can't think of any other game that does it so well. Every hit feels heavy and bone breaking. Different kill scenes depending from the environment is a cherry on top.

    Graphics are great. I played PS5's improved version but even on the good old PS4 it looks amazing. It honestly looks like magic to make a severly outdated PS4 hardware draw such beautiful high fidelity scenes. Attention to detail of the world and random small talk as you explore comes as a final polish. Technically the game feels finished. I didn't encounter a single bug during my two playthroughs. Unfortunately this seems quite rare in todays market to release a game without a regular patches afterwards that are meant to fix the game breaking bugs.

    Conclusion

    TLOU suffers mostly from the success of it's previous part and extremely high expectations of gamers. Of course many story related developer decisions raise questions however other aspects of the game were executed very well.

The score contributes to this immersion with the sound effects of you getting caught upping the risk and once again thinking about how you encounter everything. Only things I don’t like about this game is some of the character interactions with Ellie and Dina being extremely forced and someone times the story makes turns when someone is about to climax which makes me feel disappointed like **** I just want to see what happens but no now I have to do all this other **** Anyways great game great story and **** the haters… Expand

    The intense music combined with the masterfully crafted atmosphere and the fantastic audio design are some of the best I've seen in a videogame and they make up the whole experience.

    The Last of Us Part II takes some big risks, and makes some decisions that some people might not agree with, but honestly, I loved it...

    The pacing is perfect. You go from exploring, to a stealth combat encounter, to a chase sequence, to a gunfight, to a story moment and nothing overstays its welcome.

    The story is pretty damn good too. The acting performances and dialogue are great as always for Naughty Dog. I really liked the revenge plot turned into humanizing the enemies story that they were going for. I liked that Joel died as a consequence of his actions at the end of the first game. The plot is all about consequences and I was into it.

    I'm disappointed so many people didn't like this one because I would love for Naughty Dog to keep putting out masterpieces like this.    … Expand

As an additional positive element I was very surprised to find out that the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis exist in real life and it acts in the same way, infecting antis (There is a BBC documentary which explains the phenomenon). Gameplay: 10/10
    Dynamic, interesting and balanced gameplay able to create emotions and transpose the player into an action thriller movie protagonist. Graphics & sound: 10/10
    The Last of us part 2 is a beautiful game, delivering a gorgeous environment which manages to convince and contribue to the game's atmosphere. When it snows or it rains the entire environement shows, sounds and  feels like it. Additionally all the sounds greatly contribue to the atmosphere and the created tension. The background music, the cinematic music, even the music at the menu integrates well with the theme of the game. Game functiinality & bugs: 9/10:
    Only one bug encountered during swimming in a reservoir which threw me out of the textured walls. Value for money: 10/10
    The game will give you your money's worth even if you buy it full price, due to the interesting stroy, the convincing atmosphere and the awsome gameplay. Conclusion: 10/10

    LOU II podría haber sido una pieza audiovisual en la que incluyeran el conflicto entre las dos facciones principales y los gráficos mejorados, y los dos protagonistas en medio, y hubiera seguido siendo un 10 para la crítica. En vez de eso el juego experimenta y destruye cualquier concepción previa de los protagonistas (aunque eso suponga enfrentarnos a realidades que no nos gustan). Para mí, el concepto de juego "sobre el odio", aunque pretencioso para algunos críticos, es perfecto. Y sé que es perfecto porque un año después de haberlo jugado sigue pasando por mi cabeza, maravillándome lo mal que me lo hizo pasar, lo desacuerdo que estuve con Ellie, lo que sentí cuando vi que, desde otro punto de vista, los buenos pueden ser otros. Otras críticas hablan de que los SCARS no tienen sentido en el mundo de LOU2. Para mí el mundo de LOU2 es una visión casi más radical que otros mundos apocalípticos como el de the walking dead, pudiendo retorcerse el fanatismo sin límites.

    Llevo 30 años viendo películas,series, libros, videojuegos. Y LOU2 es una de las piezas audiovisuales que más se ha quedado en mi memoria, más me ha afectado y más me ha hecho reflexionar. ¿No es eso ser el juego perfecto?

    Ah, y luego están los gráficos. Brutales. Y la jugabilidad. Sólo hay que ver videos en Internet para ver que, igual que Red Dead 2, este juego no va a ser el modelo de los juegos que vengan próximamente porque están demasiado adelantados al resto de desarrolladoras.

    Lo más triste de todo es que, a lo mejor, adaptan la serie debido a las críticas, invirtiendo decisiones que para mí son fundamentales. Estoy de acuerdo en que yo puedo estar equivocado, como Druckmann (de hecho hay muchísimas críticas negativas a este juego), pero hace falta gente tan valiente, y equipos con tanta libertad creativa como Naughty Dog.

    En conclusión, juégalo y ódialo. Pero juégalo entero, porque es único.    … Expand

The choice to flip perspectives into the character that you intend to hate and build an in-depth, emotional background around is one of the most interesting and creative choices I've seen in a game in years. I feel that many gamers who disliked this experience have a difficult time parsing their emotions. Having played through both installments in the series twice now, I still do not understand why people tend to show so much affection towards Joel, but save none of those feelings for Ellie. I am reading nothing but disdain for her character, which is odd given that she has far more gravity in the story, and far more character development over time. Yes it is difficult to grieve a character you have grown a love for, but instead of feeling so possessive over a fictional character and despising the developers for "killing him" (y'all, he's not a real guy. it's gonna be ok), instead try dissecting these feelings and WHY you feel them. The Last of Us is a story of complexity - there is no black and white. Every survivor in this universe has a story to be heard, and I so enjoyed being given the experience of seeing a new, fully rounded perspective in this post-apocalyptic world. I truly think that this game will be regarded as one of the best games of all time. Once gamers grow up and acknowledge the consciousness of the writing, they will see that not ever game needs to have a Capital H Hero and Capital V Villain. The game reflects compassion, deep sorrow, vengeance, endurance, pain in a way none of us can truly know and I think that's what people are most frustrated with. The feelings are bigger than them. And that, to me, is what makes the game very powerful. And to those complaining about "SJW" politics, grow up and go outside. Meet people. We can have one gay character in a broad sea of games featuring straight, white characters.… Expand

    This game inspired me to learn guitar. Game design, art, breathtaking story that not everyone will appreciate (wich is sad). I'm huge fan of the first game and I used to hate part 2 when I haven't even experienced it on my own. My brother simply told me that I should give it a try. And I will always thank him for that. This game is not about perfect human beings, not about happily everThis game inspired me to learn guitar. Game design, art, breathtaking story that not everyone will appreciate (wich is sad). I'm huge fan of the first game and I used to hate part 2 when I haven't even experienced it on my own. My brother simply told me that I should give it a try. And I will always thank him for that. This game is not about perfect human beings, not about happily ever after or stuff like that.. it's about something that might actually happen to people in real world. And what they can feel sometimes. What they can become and how they can or cannot move on. Gameplay is extremely immersive. I never thought i would learn guitar so.. It's wonderful peace of art for me. ILL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET.. this game taught me to never listen to random people's opinions. And I play guitar from now on. Hopefully I will get better at this soon.     Oh Man this game is so great , I hope there will be part 3 , I'm the one who enjoys the story, it's all about perspective

    I love this game, the gameplay, the music, graphics and stories, I really enjoy it and I understand the harshness of reality, you can be a hero in the eyes of some and a villain in the eyes of others.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
