    Is this game perfect? No. But is it the poorly written, boring, character-destroying mess that many people are saying it is? Absolutely not.

    I found the story to be well written, shocking, and emotional, with an EXTREMELY satisfying and mature conclusion that provides an excellent character arc for Ellie's story. As for the gameplay, I found it to be extremely rewarding and fun, with some    Is this game perfect?     I found the story to be well written, shocking, and emotional, with an EXTREMELY satisfying and mature conclusion that provides an excellent character arc for Ellie's story. As for the gameplay, I found it to be extremely rewarding and fun, with some of the best stealth combat I have seen for a very long time. Graphically, the game is stunning, with every single environment being gorgeous to look at, and at times, almost photo-realistic.

    My problems with the game were very few. Only experiencing one or two full on glitches throughout the game (clipping into walls), one or two seemingly broken tree textures, and a couple of wonky hit boxes on trees and fences blocking shots that should have hit. Were I to be forced to criticise the story, my only real suggestion would be to move some of the flashback sequences to the start of the game to provide some players a more streamlined bridge between the first and second games, and slightly more closure, although personally, I didn't find any fault with the ordering of the game.

    Overall, I think The Last of Us 2 is a brilliant game with an extremely satisfying story, interesting characters, fun and rewarding gameplay, and absolutely stunning graphics. I would highly recommend it to anyone.    … Expand

    I'll admit, after seeing the leaks I was not only skeptical but made the decision to not buy this game. Once I had time to cool off and reconsider I gave it a shot and I have to say it was one wild ride. Regardless of my opinions the game is not concerned with how you feel or what you want to happen. Every twist and turn brings you either angrier at certain characters or more understandingI'll admit, after seeing the leaks I was not only skeptical but made the decision to not buy this game. Although the game has already been grossly review bombed, I still felt it was necessary to share my thoughts. I give naughty dog respect for trying something big and bold. The last of us Pt.II will pull your emotions in every which way and at the very least will make you feel like you've most likely never felt before playing a video game. For those of you who have not had the game spoiled for them yet, get off the internet and enjoy the damn game!… Expand

    This game deserves the criticism it is getting however the way people are going about it is entirely wrong, review bombing a game because you didn't enjoy one part of the story is not okay. I really enjoyed the game for the fun, in depth, and engaging game-play. Furthermore the story is one that I've seen so many times that I bored with seeing it. I really did enjoy the game for the thing that a game needs to be in order to be good, the game-play. Naughty Dog hasn't had a great track record with making fun game-play recently but this feels like they've been learning from the past 15 years. Although with misleading advertising, interviews and an iffy story I understand why people are rightfully upset with this game but it can't be ignored how solid and fun it is. I personally think that the talented staff a Naughty Dog were given an impossible task and made the best thing they could with that in mind. This game was always going to disappoint and the lead writer and director (Neil Druckman) shoving his sexual fantasies and political statements hurt this game in the long run. I'm actually not apposed to politics in games but when it's shoved down the gamer's throat like this game does rather than subtly like in Bioshock, Half Life, or Nintendo's games that's when I have to draw the line. Overall it's still a good game that I enjoyed so I might come back to it unlike Uncharted or God of War PS4 (I still enjoyed them I just don't feel the need to come back to anytime soon).… Expand

    The first game conveniently used McCarthy’s The Road as an “inspiration”, this game’s original story ends up ironically exposing how inadequate Neil Druckmann actually is as a story-teller.

    There are plenty of argument out there already discussing why the story is bad so I won’t dive into details but let me point to the obvious one here - how do you expect the audience to care about the characters in the 2nd half when you already *spoiler* all of them in the first?

    To be perfectly clear, I’ve got nothing against *spoiler* getting killed. The critical flaw lies in the story’s structure itself - when you can’t connect to the characters and the audience stopped caring, the 2nd half of the game felt so long and patronizing. Every single plot point felt so contrived and worked too hard seemingly trying to “influence” the choices you have no power to make in the first place.

    An easy fix would be giving this game multiple endings based on the moral choices you had to make, which shouldn’t be too hard, I’ll be happy to take just two endings - to kill or not to kill.

    Instead, Neil Druckmann made those moral choices for you - preaches down to your neck be precise forcing you to have emotional connection with characters that you already know will be *spoiler*. That’s precisely why at the end of the game you got this bad tastes in your mouth and felt nothing even remotely close to that cathartic release from the first game.

    I’ll leave it at a Joel quote in the game; ‘See there was a sequel. It wasn’t as good.’    … Expand

    The best game I’ve ever played, it is very decided because of how people deal with grieve, vengeance and forgiveness. Must play and take own conclusions. It’s cruel as real life, sometimes things don’t go how you intent to, and action has consequences.

But also recognize that this cycle of violence as the director calls it is dangerous and painful, and watching that pain brought the tears from my eyes in ways that until now, I thought only movies or other art expressions could achieve, this game also pushes the graphics in a way that makes the first game look way behind, it’s delightful to see the green in the plants and also watch the infected with more detail, a fact that makes them look grotesque particularly one new type of infected which I have to say caused me a total shock to watch, a true abomination. The parallelisms made by the studio with some of the present situations in our society is something that can’t be overlooked, even in these post-apocalyptic world there still exists intolerance and the labels to those who are “different” although is certainly pleasing to see how some stand against it, this game for me, made me look and review the word empathy in a way that I never thought possible, if we consider that it is putting yourself in the shoes of the other, believe me, this games does it, good or bad are just labels in a world where each one of us are mirrors, and the pursuit of justice takes a new scope in this game. In a nutshell, you have to play this game, I believe I’m not exaggerating when I say this game truly proves that video games have the capacity to be works of art but more importantly, they provoke emotions both pleasant and unpleasant.… Expand

    Joel is laying low and yet goes around telling everyone who he is....where was his carefulness from the first game? He just stopped caring it seems. There was a million ways to have his name known that didnt involve him telling everyone who he js.

Leaks aside, we all knew it was something to do with Joel. Or Dina. Or Tommy even. It has amazing visuals, music and gameplay. Stays true to the original and somehow makes it feel new. It is a long game. Especially if you're going for 100%. I think I felt the length of this game because it's not that open world. I put 80 hours or so into RDR2 and it didn't feel like it.
    As a gay person, I did like the representation. Everyone complaining about the gay "pandering" needs help. There is no lack of straight people so I don't know why they're mad. Unfortunately you do have to play as Abby. I get what they're doing. You have to see how Joel's choice affected other people. You never stop and think about who he actually killed. Did that doctor have a family? Was he someone's father, husband? The end is bittersweet. It's open to interpretation. They cycle stopped when she let Abby go with Lev and she just let go of everything. No heros, no villains. Nobody wins in this world. I chose to believe Ellie heads for Jackson to get Dina back and finally move on.    … Expand

A Parte II é, redutivamente falando, uma história de vingança encharcada de sangue. Se o tema das obras da primeira geração for "amor", diga quanto uma pessoa está disposta a pagar por amor, então, o tema desse é "ódio", quando o ente querido é ferido, os princípios e resultados serão quebrados por vingança, e como sedentos de sangue e loucura cairão nela? É por essa razão que o tom geral do Parte II é ainda mais frio, e até os traços de calor e esperança nas obras originais serão cruelmente esmagados... "abuso" é a história que me trouxe com a experiência mais intensa. Ainda mais "cruel" é que a história e a caracterização, são muito delicadas. Não são apenas os rostos antigos de Ellie e Joel nesta jornada, você também colocará mais e mais emoções em novos personagens e, em seguida, substituirá o pensamento, o entrelaçamento e a dor. Para aqueles que se machucam, você sentirá um ódio extremamente forte, a seguinte vingança e assassinato parecem ser lógicas e imperativas. Isso não é apenas porque ele usa os altos e baixos da trama para trazer altos e baixos emocionais intensos, terrores, choques, arrependimentos, alívio etc., mas também porque mostra a complexidade dos personagens e a delicadeza do coração e o que você é e as pessoas com quem você se importa não são perfeitas nem estritamente "boas pessoas", mas se sentem mais reais e dispostas a colocar emoções nelas.     Gameplay and graphics are marred by heavy-handed Intersectional plot-devices. It is a far departure from what the original was, where I didn't feel like I was being bludgeoned by any overt messages. If you absolutely ignore the plot and dialogue there is some decent gameplay to be had.

It felt to much of a uncharted game more then a true Last of Us game. Great graphic and sound but the story is poor and the game control feels a bit lagy.     Thank you Naughty Dog for making such an amazing game. I loved the first one game and this is an absolute masterpiece, one that takes patience, empathy, and grounding yourself in the world the characters are living in to full grasp the compelling story. Six years of dedication went into this game and it shows around every corner and building. The emotions this game instilled in me when I was playing was like nothing I've ever experienced in a game before. This is truly a work of art, one that should be applauded for it's accomplishments. For those disliking the story, you might want to consider a lesson in History and the brutally of the real world and perhaps even the foundations of Psychology to comprehend empathy and sympathy. The games story takes some degree of intelligence to appreciate and understanding the meaning of what these fictional characters are experiencing and how the story unfolds for them.… Expand

    Very good story. Most of the fans love Joel and Ellie, moved by their love.

    Maybe someone think the revenge is wrong. OK

He terminado el juego y pienso que cumple con las expectativas que se tenían de el ,si bien muchos no estamos de acuerdo de cómo murió Joel,creo que es algo que tenía que haber pasado debido a las acciones del mismo en el pasado,sinceramente llegue a sentir empatía jugando la campaña de Abby,hasta tal punto en que cuando Ellie se enfrenta a ella en la playa no me dieron ganas de asesinarl.
    A mi parecer la historia del videojuego tiene un buen balance entre momentos de tensión y tranquilidad,ni se diga de los gráficos.
    En cuanto a la sexualidad de los personajes,desde el primer juego se sabía que Ellie era lesbiana,así como Bill era homosexual,no veo una razón por la cual la gente se queja de ese aspecto.
    Estaría dispuesto a jugar una tercera entrega de este título    … Expand

    Not to much to say except that i loved it just as much as the first and love the direction they went in taking a huge gamble which i think payed off. This is tied for my favorite game series which is the mass effect series so if you haven't played it please do.

    The game makes you fell forced to play with a character you are taught to hate. It is not about gender or sexual orientation. Those are kind of forced, but does not affect the fun.
    The problem is the plot that destroy all the pleasure to play the game.

    Playing as Abby first might make this less bad, but probably will raise other problems.

    The greatness of the first game, partly comes from the journey and experience, and you feel for the characters.
    But I have to force myself to progress through this game.
    I can't believe I said "it's finally over" after the end for a game I've been waited so long.

This may the most gripping story I have ever experienced in any medium. You can tell naughty dog loves this world and the characters they’ve. And if i read this bad reviews it pretty clear that their are almost no reasons explained why the game is "that bad", most of this bad reviews just say "the story is **** yes well but why is it **** and "the game is horrible" but why is it horrible. This kinda Fanboys/girls are no fans of this series from my point of view, they just wanted a "Last of Us" where Joel and Ellie survive together, maybe a new doc who can make a vaccine but gets killed....., i think u guys know what i mean.     To sum it up: I was expecting to find an emotional reaction from myself, and although I tried, i just couldn't relate to the characters or their motivations. It was a tremendously good story, but told in such an inorganic way that i just wanted to see the end and not play any more of it.

    I personally did not enjoy this game or learn any deep new messages. It was just brutal and painful and traumatic for a lesson i already knew. Play at your own risk, its not an enjoyable experience and left me feeling just empty and sad for what is left of a once loved character.    … Expand

Players want to sympathize with the characters they are playing as. Not play as someone who they utterly hate for 40% of the game. With over 20+ hours of gameplay, all you can ask after the beginning section is when is it going to be over. It starts as a revenge story, but then it just starts branching out and showing it's stance on different themes in today's world with a character going under a transition from girl to boy, and lesbian relationships, which in part isn't a bad thing, but for the game story to be played out like that, it doesn't take the full effect and instead portrays these themes as a joke. It's terrible to see critics loving this game over the graphics and gameplay when a game like this specializes on its story which was perfectly built with the previous title. This game's story is an insult to the last and the advertising for this game is fake since most of the players thought Joel was still going to be around. If this was what they meant to do with the story, all I can say is that it was terribly executed by the director and the naughty dog team. This isn't just an insult to the previous tile, but also an insult to gaming reviews and the fanbase as a whole.

I love the last of us so f***ing much but like I hate that the trailers lied about Joel being alive like seeing Joel die was so heart breaking on so many levels cause I cried and stopped playing TLOU2 for 2 days after it's release. Then the ending Wasn't what I expected I thought we was gonna kill Abby cause she killed Joel I mean ik her story cause I just beat the game about 3 minutes ago but at the end I wanted to kill her. Welp hopefully there will be TLOU3 coming in 2030 of the ps5 or 6 or Next Gen of Gaming until then see you all later. Overall the game was amazing love the story and game play… Expand

Sadly, I've only played this game once and will be trading it in and forgetting about it. What a wasted opportunity to build on top of a fantastic game (TLOU). The character arc and development is extremely poor. There is no explanation for many of the plots. In TLOU you were a passenger n the journey the Joel and Ellie took. In this game,

    I can see why fans are angry and saying Naughty Dog deceived them. All promos and trailers essentially showed Ellie on a revenge spree. Yes Joel was there but it could be guess that either he or Dina were gong to die to make Ellie so angry. But the main part of the game, you're not playing as Ellie.

    Even worse, youre jumping back and forth between characters and time periods that it gets downright confusing.

    I don't mind Joel got killed. That actually made me want to play the game as it gave Ellie her motivation for what she was about to do. Bring it on!! But from there, the story falls flat.

    Then we start playing Abby for what seems the majority of the game. WTF? I hated this segment and was forced to trudge through it only to see the ending. The sections where you're fighting Ellie as Abby were just plain dumb. Many a time, I stood out in the open so Elli could kill me but that ended the game.

    I got excited when we became Ellie again, albeit it for a short moment.

    Sadly this is a forgettable game and wont be played again by me. This isn't the Last of Us part 2, may a well have called it "The Abby Chronicles".

    Such a shame Naughty Dog handed this out after 7 years of development. Would have been better to leave TLOU as a one off and done a different IP.

    I was thinking Id play this game a few times to get my fill and savour the moment. All I can say is thank God Gh0st of Tsushima and Cyberpunk are coming out soon!    … Expand

The chemistry between the characters joel and ellie are carried over from the first game, however the way the plot progresses seems to be only hindering its ability to tell a coherent story. most of this game seems to be in the past rather in the present. while its great to learn about characters and what their motivations are, its also important how we receive that information. if the information is given through a series of flashback with the outcome already made clear, why are we having those flashbacks. it feels like Abby could've had a heart to heart with one of her friends to tell them why she hates joel. that information is still their so we dont need a detailed flashback. the character joel while the chemistry between him and ellie is still there, he seems to have forgotten what being a survivor is. while it can be argued that hes gone soft because of the time he spent there or the nice people who walk through, it feels forced. the last of us is a dog eat dog world to its extreme, the fact that hunters or any other faction near them hasent attempted to take over is beyond me. they let people in so that would make it easy to stage an attack but no. those 4 years had to have been peaceful for joel to turn soft. the way he died is disrespectful. if you look at other beloved character deaths, they are handled with sincerity and care. they were with us in a journey, they achieved somewhat of they wanted. joel was axed 2 hours in the game. if neil thought this was a good idea like the first with sarah and joel. he was wrong, we cared for Sarah for the time we were with her but the sadness we felt was the utter helpness that joel had to go through knowing that his daughter was gone. Ellie was not innocent nor was joel sympathetic because joel is a awful human being. hes a great character with clear motivations and few morals. i didnt mind joel dying i took issue with how he died. he was never careful or suspicious, its as if yesterday was his first day in a post apocalyptic world. if abby and ellies story were chronological then i have no doubt this would have been a great game. not as perfect as the first but great, i only gave it a 3 for the graphics sound and programmers who put their heart into this while dealing with crunch time and dealing with a story this bad.… Expand

In the first few hours I was enthralled by it's story and pacing    The last of us 2 is the perfect Game to play to feel miserable and depressed while benefiting nothing and sustain little fun form either it's story or gameplay.
    Naughty Dog must be commended for their technical and graphical work on this game, it looks and sounds absolutely beautiful and the acting is breathtaking engaging.     Great Game! Yes, I was worried that Naughty Dog was gonna f the Dog on this one, even while playing it I worried all the way through, but the Game is solid! There are 2 or 3 moments when you feel like it might be straying, but fear not, it is extremely well done. Stop looking at leaks,( I avoided them on purpose ) and play the finished game. Definitely worth it!

    Excellent visuals and animations, but it lost everything that made the first game great. The reason people loved The Last of Us was because of the storytelling and characters. This game spits on what the fans loved about the original and then rubs it in. It hurts to see these characters handled so poorly and I can only compare the writing to the abysmal Star Wars    Truly disappointing.

    This game touched my emotional in a way that I can't explain.
    It's really amazing what Naughty Dog did with this franchise so loved by me and the rest of the fans. She had the courage to let someone come out of nowhere and kill Joel in such a brutal and sad way, and then, in the middle of the game, show the motivation of whoever killed him, in this case Abby.
    I'm sad about everything that happened to Ellie, she's my favorite character, I love her since the first game and even more in Part II, but her search for revenge, in the end, left her with nothing and alone. She simply lost everything she had, but because of herself.

    I don't understand how anyone might not have liked the game. Maybe it's because they still don't understand that it's not a game to make you happy or have fun, but a game to make you reflect and put an end to your emotional.
    Simply a work of art.

    É realmente incrível o que a Naughty Dog fez com essa franquia tão amada por mim e pelo resto dos fãs. Ela teve a coragem de deixar alguém aparecer do nada e matar Joel de uma maneira tão brutal e triste, e então, no meio do jogo, mostrar a motivação de quem o matou, neste caso Abby.
    Estou triste por tudo o que aconteceu com Ellie, ela é minha personagem favorita, eu a amo desde o primeiro jogo e ainda mais na Parte II, mas sua busca por vingança, no final, a deixou sem nada e sozinha. Ela simplesmente perdeu tudo o que tinha, mas por causa de si mesma.

    Eu não entendo como alguém pode não ter gostado do jogo. Talvez seja porque eles ainda não entendem que não é um jogo para fazer você feliz ou se divertir, mas um jogo para fazer você refletir e pôr um fim ao seu emocional.
    Simplesmente uma obra de arte.

The first however is still better story wise and in Part 2 they take the combat from the first game and update it and make it more realistic, gruesome and better. The reason why this game is not a 10 out of 10 in my opinion is the story, I have no problem with joel dying but the way he goes out just doesn't feel right. Joel is killed way too early in the game and then we have to play as his killer Abby for the second half of the game. I'm not going to lie though by the end I started to like abby and her gameplay is so fun and feels just like a horror movie, it's just that no matter what I'm not going to feel sorry for Abby which the game tries to do to you multiple times. I did enjoy Ellie's part of the game and her choice for vengeance. Overall I still think the last of us part 2 is a great game and dont understand why it is getting so much hate.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
