    Juegazo 100%.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game tries something very hard and fails at it due to cheap methods it uses to accomplish said thing. I found it insulting to my (player's) intelligence when the game assumes you are easily impressionable and haven't made any ethical thinking on your own in your life. I don't need a elementary school grade lecture from any medium. If I were, I wouldn't play Last of Us and instead would go and read Aesop's fables which have more subtlety in writing. As it is, Last of Us Part 2 feels like it is written by an art-school student who thinks they are being profound with their edgy shortfilm. Expand

I mean... game is amazing, emotional background it provides for some parts of it is impeccable, but I completely don’t understand why they made us feel sorry and help a character that killed someone so beloved by us. Loved the fact that they made back story to why she’s done that, but still can’t feel sorry for a character that did that to us. Most certainly can’t try to help her. This game was incredible. I felt Naughty dog took a big risk with writing this story this way and I'm happy they did because it came out beautifully. It's really interesting seeing so many people having issues with it, but very few are actually backing up their argument.

    Gameplay: Super solid. I felt in control, and coming from Souls games, i really enjoyed the addition of dodging.

    Gameplay: Super solid. I felt in control, and coming from Souls games, i really enjoyed the addition of dodging. This added a new branch of strategy when planning out how you would handle encounters.

    Environment Design: Insane. I couldn't believe how much time it took to get from one area to another until i started reading how long it took some people to finish the game. Just starting from one side of the room or area and moving to the other for loot and to just admire the way everything was put together, i can't express enough how beautiful the world is. The effects, the lighting, the sound, the foliage on everything. I love all of it.

    Story: I can see why people would have issue with a few things. I gotta say though, I was on the edge of my seat for every second of the experience. I love the direction they took, and i fell in love with the decision they made. It's a real rollercoaster and if you just let the story take you, you're in for a wild ride.

    I am sad about the main thing people seem to be upset about, but that character had to go for this to be what it was. I can't wait to play through again! I think I'll wait for ps5 and play both through back to back.

    I think to enjoy this game fully you need to have the ability to empathize with all the characters in the game, yes, it didn't end how I wanted it too but that doesn't mean I hate it, far from it. As the game progressed Characters I hated I grew to love and characters I loved I grew to despair, that is the power of good writing and a good story.

    Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey are amazing actors and deserve so much praise for what they achieved. All the actors do, it was like being immersed in a movie for 13 nights in a row.
    All I can say to people reading this review is to please play the game and make your own opinion. If even you wait a year so get it cheaper, just please go on this journey.

    My only negative....why do I have to open so many draws only to have nothing inside it?! haha.

The only plausible conjecture I can currently think of is that the developers, or maybe the director, execrates the Last of US 1, despite its grand reputation. Thus, the Last of Us 2 became a work of flagrant animosity, created and created only for the sake of extirpating everything they have built in the first game, which in turn produced an inevitable contrivance.

    Due to the horrendous storytelling, which greatly lacked depth and details, people could not possible get the slightest immersion into the story and the protagonists. Yes, we get what the messages, the sort of a moral dilemma the developers wanted to show off so ostentatiously. Nevertheless, without any appropriate development, they are nothing but a mediocre platitude, an overused cliche.

    Therefore, one would naturally ask oneself - do I really need to pay to feel miserable and abject? It is a perfectly rational and reasonable question because these two emotions are the only message within the game. Through demolishing what they have successfully built in the first game, and distorting the story just for the sake of going against the anticipations, this 'product' provides nothing but discomfort and despair.

    In conclusion, the Last of US 2 is not a game. It is a direct and flagrant vituperation from the developers.

    Yes, as the one star reviews state, it does have a very controversial plot. For me, it's a masterpiece in story telling. Naughty Dog took a gamble here, and it's payout was immense. Like the first game, it's a story of violence, brutality and good people doing bad things. With people doing bad things, comes anger and hate but then remorse/guilt and ultimately redemption. How Naughty Dog uses their post apocalyptic world to massively amplify these emotions into a story filled with the best motion capture and acting I've seen in a game today, is just incredible.

    Give the game the devotion and time it deserves.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU2 is an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. The gameplay, graphics, sound, and cutscenes are are all excellent. Some levels such as the escape from Scar Island and the hospital basement fight are breathtaking. However, the choice in the story line will undoubtedly cause some friction in the gaming community. The story line is my only serious complaint amount the game (Spoilers):
    1) Killing Joel early. His death shouldn't have taken place so early in the game. Joel is the patriarch / hero of the first game and deserves more than 15 minutes. 2) Abby - her motivation for revenge is justified. However playing with her for half the game after she brutally bashed Joel head in just doesn't work for me. She also sleeps with her Ex who has a pregnant girlfriend. Her redemption story line doesn't pass for me...

    3) Ellie is missing for half the game. This game is about Ellie (well at least that's what marketing told us). Additionally, Abby storyline has the better gameplay (hospital, scar island, sky bridge).

I've played a lot of games, seen a lot of shows and movies (>1500)and this scenario got to my gutt. You feel so many things, anger, sadness, joy and even sometimes pity for some of the characters blinded by their quest. And this is the strength of the Last of us Part II. I think everyone bad reviewing this game without justification and insulting the team who made it don't deserve to play this. Just go back playing simple story games if you are not able to understand the character's complexity and the multi facet of this realistic world. Thank you Naughty Dog, this was a hell of a journey, I can't wait to play it in the hardest difficulty. Expand

    I strongly recommend you to play this until the end to really understand what Naughty Dog wanted to tell. In The Last Of us (1) we had the same point of view of the protagonist, so was really easy to empathize with him, but in this second part it's quite different, i feel it's like watching a story from the outside.
    Technically speaking the game is almost perfect: the photography, the details (it's incredible the amount of little beautiful details and references you can find in here), the soundtrack, the acting...
    Also the gameplay/level design is 10/10.
    My compliments to Naughty Dog: they made a second part that is better than the first one under every aspect.

Part II is about the consequences of the first game, about the search for revenge that in turn leads to nothing, but simply, to loneliness, sadness and emptiness. The game demonstrates and makes you feel that anyone you love can simply disappear at any time, because real life is just like that. The problem that remains is, in fact, we managed to overcome the death of one of the main characters in the first game. It is a challenge, which is precisely the same as losing a family member. At the moment we feel anger, hatred for Abby, but then we see that in fact she is not the real “villain”, but Joel was. If we think about it, Abby belonged to the fireflies, which were looking for a cure for humanity. From the other side, we saw Ellie and Joel, who literally killed everyone for an insignificant cause. If we see everything out of the box, in Part II, we love the villager and we wanted to kill the protagonist. But little by little we started to understand that abby did what she had to do, she sought revenge which in turn led her to emptiness. Ellie taking her revenge also killed all the people that Abby loved or knew, that in the end, the two were left alone, because of revenge. That's the moral of the story. Revenge leads nowhere. In short, this game should be played for those who are mature enough to understand the game. It's a masterpiece. Expand

    This game simply looks and sounds incredible and as an RPG lover, the first few scenes just make you stop, look around and rejoice at how lucky we are to have games that can look and feel like this.

    The playing style picks up pretty much where it left off with the benefit of jumping, swimming and crawling for all characters. The jumping and falling can feel a little clunky if i'm being picky, the swimming works well although perhaps could have been utilised more. The crawling/proning is the best of the new skills and as a stealth type player really enjoyed the benefits and options this added to my playing style.

    The scavenging and artifacts are exactly the same, if you're into it, great, if not, you can bypass most of it. I guess there is only so much you can do here, so not too bothered by the lack of development.

    I was disappointed with changes made with player and weapon upgrades. The player upgrade system is muddled and frankly becomes a mute point to the game. Your upgrades just don't become noticeable or of any real value, especially compared to the amount of work and exploring it takes to build up enough resources. I felt like could have completed the game on Hard setting without any player upgrades making the whole point of it redundant.

    Weapon upgrades again i felt didn't really offer too much given the amount that needs to be scavenged. It was less muddled than player upgrades but felt the new swanky visuals of upgrading your weapons was the best part.....which says a lot.

    The situations/ scenarios you find yourself in can be hit and miss. Some I really enjoyed, some seemed under or over developed.  Massive open spaces with literally nothing to do or too regularly were just used and some kind of ambling dialect storyline type section to avoid excessive cut scenes. Then you'd be swept into a sudden stronghold of infected or factions. Then you'd be back to another cut scene or dropped into a completely different character/timeline altogether. It all felt very inconsistent.

    So for me the technical side was amazing but the playthrough was too jumbled.

    Then there is the storyline. In my opinion, its biggest downfall. I was initially fully engaged with the game, mouth open and slightly traumatised by Joel's sudden departure. It was a shock and awe approach of which I was gutted, but thought they'd bring us back in line with some timeline and character (Ellie & Joel) swapping.  What we got was 3/4 of the game completely detached from the two very players and relationship you fell in love with during part 1.

    As much as the game was a spectacle to play for the most part, I just didn't want to be playing it!  The best way I can describe the feeling of sheer disappointment is that I could only have really enjoyed this game if i had never played part 1.

    Joel is tossed from the game, cast aside to make way for new characters, his role in the game is literally reduced to cut scenes. Ellie gets very little character development other than a bitter protagonist on a revenge rampage. She still ends up with everyone she loves either being killed or leaving her, which just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Although you play as Ellie I still felt, like Joel, her best bits all come from cutscenes. Their relationship was just used as toilet paper for the rest of the new adventures. There really is nothing else I can say. They completely messed this dynamic up. It's very sad.

    For me, this made any viable buy-in to Abby and her narrative completely tarnished. I was only able to enjoy Abby's storyline in small pockets, ruined by either the jumping around of timelines or by the return of the disappointment I felt at how much they were messing this game up.
    Abby's storyline really should have been a DLC and seperate story, much like we got in part 1. You could have engaged with it better, as you'd be prepared to work through it from the other side of the storyline. It was topical, relevant and groundbreaking but ultimately underwhelming because your heart wasn't in it.

    Abby and Lev essentially become what Joel and Ellie were in part 1 only with a less stereotyped set up. Personally I think the poor handling of Ellie and Joel completely distracts you from the new storyline and characters.  It should have been something profound but they end up missing that target too. You let Abby get killed, fall off ledges, want her to fail, all because you haven't waited 7 years to play the person who tortured and killed Joel. It just didn't work.

    I can't get over how much they let go of the gold dust they created in part 1. It could and should have been so much better.

    So my heart wants to bomb the rating as it misses so much. But take away the  emotional attachment from part 1 and it is a stunning looking, dark game with some barrier breaking, brilliant sections.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The lack of character building, the manipulative way of story writing and suggestive narrative that want to make us love Abby and her crew, despite of the justified choice of Joel in tlou part 1 is mindblowing. The writing and pacing of the story is really poor. To suggestive and one sided. I get the idea behind the other side of things but the way this "revenge story" just comes down to is to basic and non relatable compared to the gameplay. Murdering 100s of soldiers, totally neglecting the zombie apalocalypse, and bringing pregnant ladies to the battlefield while morning over losses on both sides and banding with totally uninteresting Characters just did not do it for me. The gameplay was dragged out and while you spend a lot of time looting and crafting for Items, weapons and ammo, the gameplay tries to psuh you in the direction of stealth. This is so contradicting, and destracting. The flashbacks where the best part of the story but just made it even more all over the place. I was hyped but scared at the same time that this game would go in a direction I would not like. Out of all the options how to continue with the story, they picked the worst one. It's a writer and developer choice but it doesn't make sense in my opinion. Off course the visuals look great, the acting and sounds where impacable and the time spend on detail is amazing. To bad the story and choices characters made where not believable and relatable. I'm dissapointed that the game pushed towards a part 3 and didn't have a conclusion or maybe even an player choice. All and all a game I really wanted to play and I'm happy I did but definitely not half as good as the first one. Expand

You are not getting roses and unicorns - you are getting death. With that said the game is much darker than its predecessor, but I liked that. I liked it because it is much, much more realistic. Just as any human being grows up with time as a slightly different person, a good game, book or movie should always strive to achieve the same. If you expect a fun apocalypse game that will keep you close and comfortable around your favourite characters(as the first one did) , this game might make you a little bit sad.

    If you expect a high quality, realistic product - the kind that comes out only once every couple of years, then The Last Of Us Part II is worth the money and the time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the outrage from spoiler leaks, I came into this game with lowered expectations. And I’ll say, there’s a lot to like about this game. Graphics are beautiful, combat is fun, and the enemy AI feels extremely realistic. But for me, a story driven game must deliver a great story, and can’t lean on those other factors to be great. The reason the first game was so successful is because the story was so well written. I have replayed the first game at least 15 times because it was just that good. But this games story is poorly paced and poorly written, that if there’s one part where you ever say to yourself “that character wouldn’t do that” you’re sucked out the story and it’s nearly impossible to get back in. Unfortunately for me, I thought there were a lot of character decisions that didn’t match the characters at all, and a lot of those decisions seemed to be obviously only made to advance the plot. So I was sucked out of this game early on and could never really get back into it. It’s sad to see a game that had so much potential and delivered on so many areas be torn down by sloppy writing. If the game wasn’t story based, it would be about an 8 of 10 for me. But because the story is the driving factor to play this game, I have to drop score to a 4 because I don’t feel any urge to ever replay this game again. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Its a game good in technical aspects, so I will just take on history aspects: Its a deep story, it's not about revenge, revenge is the plot which is used to create the story, which is all about the characters, their moralities and the consequences of these conflicting, about growth, about loss, about tragedy It shows us a villain murdering in cold blood our favorite character, and it makes us hate Abby, and sets us players on the same revenge quest as Ellie. Everything flows like a normal story and then it comes to a moment where they put into Abby's shoes, almost everyone hated being put in that place, but after a few hours, many players, myself including, stop hating Abby that much and see how she is an actual person with a good heart and how she suffered, and how everything that happened to her, the death of the fireflies and her death lead a good person to commit horrific actions, like killing Joe, which she, later on, realizes that it didn't bring any pleasure, it didn't fulfill the emptiness that she was left with after her Dads death, who in the end was just tryna save the world. her vengeance only brought tragedy and pain, her friends died bc of it, and she goes after Ellie, tries to kill her but stops when she had the chance, bc she knew nothing good would become out of it, this was only possible bc Abby was no longer the ruined and devastated monster we saw, she went back to being a good person bc of two kids who saved her life with who she felt compassion and created a bond, willing to abandon everything she had for them "you are my people" she said to Lev, she abandoned the wolves, I cause she was fighting for even though not believing in them truly. She simply needed something to fight for. All her friends were killed, her love, her pregnant friend, for the "daughter"/friend of the guy she killed for killing her father, she had the chance to finish Ellie Dina and Tommy and she was gonna do it bc of all the rage she had within her, but Lev suddenly stops and then the good person in her kicks in her, she realizes that that would never change things and she goes away, now that's character growth Abby is Like Joel, a good person doing horrible things because of a tragedy in the past, and a kid changes her for the better again... Abby's revenge quest is also similar to Ellie's, with the difference that Abby, lost way more than Ellie they are all good people doing or that did horrible stuff The game doesn't want to forcibly like Abby but to at least understand that she is also human and that there's no right or wrong in this situation Then Ellie years after is presented with the opportunity of getting her revenge, and she doesn't get herself to do it because she realized what Abbie realized way sooner than her, and that's why Abby didn't want to fight either... Ellie loses everything and is devastated, all she went through was not worth it even by killing Abby, she lost friends, her life with Dina, she did horrible feelings she regretted it, all in the desperation of trying to fulfill the emptiness and the trauma she was not able to live with. and we, in the end, find out that Ellie didn't simply want revenge for joe, she had finally given the chance to Joe, for them to rebuild their relation, and she lost it right in front of her eyes. It's a sad story with no conclusive ending, it's supposed to leave u thinking and as devastated as Ellie, its powerfully emotional, and tries to get out of all types of clichés by trying to focus the story on different aspects like morality, humanity, emotions, characters, their growth, consequences of the conflict between those characters and much more, it's not about a clear objective, it's about these things

    It's risky and I think it shines

    The Gameplay is most like in TLOU 1, but with many Quality-of-Life Improvements and better Gunplay. The Feedback is a blast when you fire a Shot with the Revolver or hit Enemys with an Arrow. The most polarizing part in this Game is the Story. For me personally, it’s realistic and a useful Story in the Franchise. It’s not TLOU 2, it’s Part 2, like written in the Title, it’s the further Course of one big Story and that‘s feelable and well made.

    I have thought a long time before writing. It is a very hard time for The Last of Us lovers. I consider it a really badly-made game and I'm going to try to show it to you in here, without any spoilers.

    - Story: the story goes around in circles and not in a way that makes you exclaim "Wow! So bright!" but in a very dull way, which makes the player suffer. Some did like that, but I sure didn't, I like my games clear and not foggy about their intentions and also my characters. Indecisiveness of characters in this game is really weird and forced, I really don't know how they could make such a rookie mistake. The story is one of the most important elements for this game so this is what makes everything drop to such a low score.

    - Characters: 4 years are a long time, but Ellie is somewhat unrecognizable in her main features. One could say she's been disfigured by the thirst for revenge, but sincerely, I don't buy that. Mainly poor writing on that side and an especially vicious one. Let me tell you why: they want to make you question her every move and somehow hate her for the rampage she goes into. Still, maybe it could be done, but not this way. They're just trying to stuff our throats with pre-fabricated things, without justifying them a bit more.

    - Gameplay: fun. But it's too long. Really, I never thought I'd say this, but it drags so much and without piling up the drama with story (which, as I said, is pretty dull) that I found myself hoping it ended several times before the end. It is really sad to say this. Really, really sad.

    - Level building: all the 10s around say it's genius, but sorry, no, it's not. I admit I liked the Seattle part, a weirdly structured open world HUB at the start of the game. But um... why was this the only one? Druckmann said it had to be open world, and well I actually see that. Just looks like a weird hybrid, but you're on rails most of the time. Why is this being called genius? I really can't understand. I like the new additions of tall grass and small openings and the fluidity of all the action and moving around, that's sexy. Still, not even close to genius level building, p-lease.

    In conclusion: the game could have been great. If not a 10 (like The Last of Us could look now, compared to this) at least a good solid 9. That's probably what all of us gamers asked for, but got this indecisive, weird story where they forced us to empathise with the new character and try to make us hate the shell of an old beloved character. The idea ain't bad, but it's INSINCERE execution lacks honesty, truthfulness and mere story-telling ability.

    Throughout the course of this game you will feel different things that may be uncomfortable but stick with it, the new characters are wonderful additions and if you're invested in this universe you will feel a whole string of emotions towards various characters and as you understand the prespectives of both ellie and abby you begin to understand that they aren't all that different in some ways. As you begin to see why abby did what she did you slowly begin to sympathize with her and grow with her as the game progresses while also getting to know the people ellie hurts the game puts you in control of abby for the first fight between abby and ellie, this for me wasnt enjoyable but it was necessary for the storys progression, its necessary for you to understand that even though you want to side with ellie after what abby did you've grown to care about the people abby wants to avenge after ellie kills them and its painful to see abby grieve the way ellie does over joel. This is the point in the game were you realize that there is no good guys or bad guys, just survivors in a broken world and to get the full emotional pull of the second act you HAVE to understand this. Yet while I did grow to like abby I do believe that some of the best moments in the game are the flashbacks that host both a younger ellie and a kinder joel, they absolutely steal the show and while i morn the lose of joel gravely so and found it difficult at first to see things from abbys view i did enjoy story. Also abbys play time is just as long as ellies though I personally(as well as most people i would assume) think ellie steals the show. You feel the characters emotions just by seeing their expressions and listening to the music which is furthered even more by dialouge and actions of said characters. At first you will absolutely hate abby as the developers surely intend you to but once ellies three day period is over and you play those same three days over as abby she may very well start to grow on you. The gameplay is smooth and combat and stealth are so much more tense then ever before as the enemy AI will find ways to outsmart you or outgun you and that only increases as the difficulty increases. The graphics speak for themselves as remarkable breathtaking feats and while the story may not be for everyone I fully enjoyed my time with this game and am already making headway in a second playthrough. By the end the game makes you understand that ellie wasn't after abby purely for revenge as the final flahback reveals that ellie and joel were beginning the roads to forgiveness after ellie had found out about joels lie in an earlier cutscene but just a short time after they have this discussion he is taken from her by abby and ellie feels that abby stole her chance to forgive and heal what was broken, while also realizing what this quest for revenge has turned her into and upon realizing this ellie lets abby go instead of drowning her. this story requires you to take the story as it is instead of what you want it to be and doing so grounds the universe even further as each character is more than true to who they were and who they've become since the time we last seen them. This game does not have a happy ending as ellie loses 2 fingers in her final fight with ellie she can no longer play the guitar, realising that her quest for revenge has also taken the last thing left she had from joel(being his lessons on how to play the guitar) as well as losing her relationship with dina in favor of tracking abby down. You the player feel this overwhelming pain as the screen pans out after she's set down the guitar and left the house and all that's left is to watch her walk away with this feeling of understanding that she's lost pretty much everything because of the choices that were made. These emotions may not be what you're looking for in a game and thats okay but to those who do decide to play it the story is great even in all lose and sadness.

    If youre still skeptical I encourage you to look at reviews on both sides, get good and bad opinions and see if this is for you and maybe watch a playthrough if that doesn't prove enough, but please only listen to those who sound like they've actually played the game and be aware that there's definitely people here review bombing a product they haven't played. You may not be one who enjoys this work of art and thats ok but make the decision for yourself, don't let others tell you how to feel. To all incoming players be prepared for an emotionally challenging story that will push you to the edge and back. As I believe this story is closely on par with the emotional holdings of the first in almost every way.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start with the easy stuff... the Graphics. Literally I can't expect the PS4, a console from the old-world to able to handle such beautiful graphics. I played the game in a PS4 Pro and the game run smoothly. The grass, the sea and oh my god the facial expressions. I am not an expert on sound/music/soundfx so I won't vote for that... although A-ha's Take on Me was a beautiful addition to the game. Now the story... nah not yet let's talk about the GAMEPLAY. I see people complain about the AI... well I don't agree. Movements are unpredictable and if you play in stealth all the time you can actual feel the thrill and the horror while you pass enemies undetected. Alternatively, you can try your luck with your one pistol bullet and your two arrows. Enemies will attack you from the most unexpected angles, if someone is shooting at you from a close distance you won't be able to reach him, and the big guys require two headshots (??) oops... not very realistic but let's play the ‘it’s just a game’ card. Now the let’s discuss the story. I believe most people don't have Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005). The good guy, father figure Joel dies... well let’s face it he was a piece of sh1t for some others, doomed humanity and he was a killer. He was a survivor and naughty dog had the guts to remove his plot armour because sometimes you can't be too careful and sometimes you die. He did his worst, he tried his best, now it's time for him to rest. Whoever is reading this review I would like you to know that I loved the Joel character and if I was him I would probably followed the same road of decisions... doesn't mean I/he was right. But let's don't talk about Joel anymore as he is not the main character. Ellie - is this the little girl from the first last of us? Not really. Ellie doesn't want to be left alone, Ellie cares for her friends. When I was five, I liked carrots, today I f hate them. People change and as the French say revenge is a dish best served cold. It's a meaningless path that consumes the little left of humanity left in you. Abbie did the same thing when all her friends were killed - the reason they died wasn't because of Ellie it was for Abbie's need of revenge and damn, it costed. Both characters did terrible things, in the end, they’ve decided that revenge was meaningless… and it was too late. They lost everything. How can you hate a story like that? The simple answer is that you wanted a happy ending, ending with closure and a righteous main character that never makes mistakes. I can accept that but don’t call the story terrible. Say something like ‘Not quite my tempo’ – Whiplash (2014) Expand

    it is a horrible game and all my expectations are ruined
    It has a bad plot from the start to the end and no strong characters to play.
    They killed everything that I loved about the first part.

    Pros:
    - Great themes and message;
    - Fantastic animations and graphics;
    - Amazing performances from the voice actors;
    - An ending that makes you think;
    - Deep and emotional story...

    Cons:
    - ... but with an odd pacing;
    - It gets repetitive after the 10-hour mark;
    - Some new characters deserved more screen-time.

Great game but, i could have live without the part of going to rescue Lev to the island of the scars, it just made the game a bit tedious and a bit long, also the part of getting away of that island is a bit unchartedesque and it doesn't fit this game, as other parts along the game. In my opinion games should start to get shorter and not divage in secondary stories. But otherwise it's a pretty decent sequel Expand

    A brutal and evocative game about loss and survival. The graphics and sound are stunning, the A.I and combat in the gameplay have improved from the first game. However, the bold story direction and along with the new characters have caused the game to be very divisive. This is what happens when a company leaves history aside, to focus on moral lessons of a sexual orientation nature unrelated to the plot. Incoherent and disjointed. Get you to go from one place to another without believing the motives of the characters to finally give you a supposed vital moral that ruins and does not fit with all of the above

Expand

I guess part of the hate comes because people do not like those feelings, but I guess that is what happens in a post-apocalyptic world when you set on a quest for revenge. Try it out for yourself with an open mind. Last thing: 0 political agenda, I genuinely do not know where people got that from... Expand

    i would say ND really did incredible job for Part 2. The story very dark and i love how the storytelling twists the audience's feeling. The narration of the story really psychologically tortured to the main characters. i feel both ellie and abby's pain and glad how the game ended. gameplay, grafic and sound are one of the best i ever experienced so far. well done!!

    The first installment in this series is one of my favourite games of all time and I've long lost count of how many times I've replayed it. Thus I was enraged when I suddenly had Joel beaten to death on my screen. Hell, he was like a father to me. An on screen father, but still. Anyhow, at that point I couldn't keep playing. My hands were shaking and I couldn't think straight. All I knew was that I hated the game and Naughty Dog. That I probably should brake the game disk in two and send fungal spores to Naughty Dog. But in the end I realized that I hated someone else even more. Abby. The b*tch who broke my heart.

    So I decided that I might very well brake the game disk eventually and write a bad review. But not until I had my revenge on Abby and all of her loved ones.

    For a few hours my hatred burned too hot for me to enjoy much of the game. Dina felt like a nuisance and all dialogue and interactions not directly related to my search for revenge felt pointless.

    Then there came flashback. A memory of Ellie, Joel and some dinosaurs trying on hats. And that's when the grief truly hit me. A flood of tears dampened the fires of hatred and suddenly I could feel again. Not much, but enough to take in the world again.

    A few hours later Dina turned out to be pregnant, and suddenly I felt a tiny bit of something for her too. Not that I liked her, really. But that I wanted to keep her safe. Protected. Just as Joel had kept "me" safe for the previous game.

    Anyhow, from there on I really enjoyed the game. It made me realize how pointless hatred and revenge really is. Because in the end, you only give someone else reason to hate you as much as you hated that someone. And on it goes.

    To sum things up this game was an emotional roller coaster. Terrible, dark and painful in ways I've never experienced in a game before. Or in any other media, in fact. So, yes, this is a great game. Even though I would have been happier if it never had been made.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best review I can give of this game is that the graphics department carried hard, while the narrative department has never made me feel less guilty about torturing a woman to death than this game did. I would genuinely rather skin Abby alive MYSELF than let this game exist as it does. I would rather hear an actual, living human being cry out for the sweet release of death than play this game again from its start, and I would STILL make them experience true suffering rather than live out the excruciatingly childish, very immature morals this story forces upon the player. I would legitimately rather have a 2 hour long cutscene of Ellie cutting the flesh away from Abby's bones than anything this game actually delivered on, EVER. Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
