    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a game that you only can criticise if you've completed the story. And that's what have gone wrong. How can people criticise the story when they didn't even know about the ending? Halfway through the game you play as Abby. I hated her as well. But playing as her and revealing that Joel killed her father was mind-blowing. The play style gives a perfect perspective of what Abby has gone through. Abby's father can die but Joel can't? Remember that they are both humans. And the impact of the story is absolutely soul crushing, and that is what a good story does, making an impact. The story is about perspective. Think about what would have happened if part 2 was the same style as the first one. It would be a repetitive mess. I feel bad for the developers seeing all the hate, while they did a fantastic job.

    Overall: This game is a well made sequel to one of the best games of all time. It's not a Disney movie for children

The author wants us to sympathyze the enemy, showing a "grey moral". But it just makes the game even more repulsive. Not to mention the lack of logic amid postapocallypse and senseless agenda. Wanted to throw away the game and completed it only out of respect to the characters. Very dissapointed. The first game made me buy PS4 and this sequel "turns me against" Sony.

    1. Joels death was painful to watch. You play as a character named Abby who is running away from a horde of zombies. You are then saved by the beloved characters, Joel and Tommy. They save you on multiple occasions and eventually you bring them back to your little hide out. Now the first issue I have here is continuity with character personalities (Characteristics/traits). Joel and Tommy are known to be survivors and it is clearly demonstrated in the first game. When I mean clearly, they literally show Joel being ruthless to a group of bandits that were pretending to be injured, knowing this, Joel goes straight through like a badass. However, this trait is no longer seen in the second game. He casually just walks into a room filled with people that are armed and unknown. He then introduces himself, eventually getting killed. You see Joel die in the most brutally and heart-wrenching way possible during the first act of the game (2 hours in). This is where people misunderstand the majority of why fans hate this. We are not upset that Joel died...its how he died. His death by the end of the game nearly meant nothing. His character is not the same character we grew to love. Nor was his death memorable or meaningful whatsoever. A lot of us understood the motive that was presented here for Ellie, and yes...it did make us angry and we too wanted revenge just like Ellie. But it was done in a way that was so lazy and poorly written.

    I have played through Part 1 and Part 2 multiple times. They are both excellent. Frame rate is buttery smooth on PS5 at 60fps. The game is kinda dark and heavy though with no lightening of the mood at any point. It's not for everyone.

    Um dos melhores jogos que eu já joguei. Tanto o The Last Of Us Parte 1 quanto o Parte 2. Esse game transmite sensações que pouquíssimos jogos conseguem passar, além de ter uma ótima gameplay com gráficos, ambientações e personagens muito realistas e com diversos detalhes.

    They ruined this series forever by killing off most important character of last of us, then forcing you to play as one of the ugliest, most disgusting video game characters ever (who killed Joel for most idiotic reasons ever), ending was even worse, because ellie lost her fingers and this mutant human (who killed joel) got to escape. Pathetic and absolutely pointless, disgusting video game.

    I waiting a long time to give this a try, I had already heard some spoilers but didn’t think the game could really be as bad as people were saying. Part 1 was my favorite game of all time. I absolutely loved the characters and everything about it. Part 2 destroyed everything I loved about the first game.     Naughty Dog's best game yet and one of my favourites on all time. Had me completely hooked from start to finish.

    The best stealth-action gameplay in the business. -Enemy AI is so good, they will coordinate searches, signal to each other, flank, set up vantage points, lose track of you, you really FEEL like you are being hunted and it is so immersive. The infected are now mixed in with    Naughty Dog's best game yet and one of my favourites on all time. Had me completely hooked from start to finish.

    -The combat is **** amazing. Every attack is so weighty and visceral, getting shot HURTS, killing enemies is so damn satisfying. No other game even comes close to the immersion of this games combat.

    The pacing is perfect. You go from exploring, to a stealth combat encounter, to a chase sequence, to a gunfight, to a story moment and nothing overstays its welcome.

    The story is pretty damn good too. The acting performances and dialogue are great as always for Naughty Dog. I really liked the revenge plot turned into humanizing the enemies story that they were going for. I liked that Joel died as a consequence of his actions at the end of the first game. The plot is all about consequences and I was into it.

    I'm disappointed so many people didn't like this one because I would love for Naughty Dog to keep putting out masterpieces like this.    … Expand

Besides this game being an awful story about revenge being awful for both sides and the death of a beloved character, what makes this game so hard to play through is the pacing of the story. The game tries to get you too care about characters who have no likable traits and having to play as a separate character that the majority don’t like and having to sit through boring cutscenes and flashbacks it feels almost as if I should get paid just to play this game. It was all over the place and just filled with boredom and suffering. Such a shame.… Expand

    I honestly cannot express my hatred towards this game enough. It' been almost 2 years since release and I'm still so furious about the waste of potential (and 25 hours) this game has.     I hated that Ellie's section    I honestly cannot express my hatred towards this game enough. It' been almost 2 years since release and I'm still so furious about the waste of potential (and 25 hours) this game has. I hated this game so much that it destroyed my love for the first game, which I would have regarded as one of the top games of all time.
    I don't know where to start. I hated it.
    I hated that Ellie's section of the game is reduced to about 11 hours, 5 of which are the damn tutorial so we barely get to explore ANY time with Ellie that's considered actual gameplay. Her dialogue with Dina felt flat and unimaginative, mostly just commenting on what they were doing in the moment.
    I did not mind that **** died, because i honestly expected it to happen from the first trailer, but it happened so soon into the game that it didn't invoke much reaction in me; it should've happened far, FAR into the story, many hours in, so that we the players had a new, fresh attachment to him. It would have hit so much harder.
    And then, right when the action is hitting hardest, right when we get to the climax- we switch to ABBY?! For ELEVEN HOURS?!
    WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
    It is too much to expect the player to care about a character we have barely met before, putting aside what Abby did. Why in the hell would a gamer ever want to spend eleven hours (at least!!!) playing as an unknown, hated character in an established franchise, when they KNEW everyone wanted to play as Ellie. Like???? WHY??????
    Just why??
    Abby is boring, grey, contributes absolutely NOTHING to the plot other than introducing us to characters Ellie has already killed, so why would we care about them? It's so incredibly long and boring. The one tiny good part was Lev, whose character I liked a lot, but it couldn't lift up what is horrific and boring and meaningless to the story. It's nonstop walking, shooting, trying to find some stupid supplies for a stupid character who dies stupidly two minutes after you saved her. So like, that's 3 hours WASTED trying to save her AND SHE DIES ANYWAY.
    The game completely rubs it in your face that Ellie's the bad guy. We get it, she's bad, but she obviously had remorse at some moments. How could they expect us to care about Abby, who certainly has no empathy whatsoever?? Did they expect us to care about her just because her dad died like 5 years ago? But she doesn't care about now, in present day, murdering a pregnant woman?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
    It's just so dumb??? What, the thousands upon thousands of relatives that Joel left behind after killing their loved ones are all gonna come and hunt him down? WHAT?
    Literally I can't express my hatred for Abby, and my hatred for ND forcing us to play as her for eleven damn hours.
    The plot is all over the place. The tension builds, and they let it die in a steaming pile of nothing. It builds again, then nothing. Then we get this horrific constant swap between Ellie and Abby for NO REASON. And the ending??? The whole damn game was for absolutely nothing??
    WHAT WAS THE POINT.
    I know Naughty Dog wanted to surprise us, but WHY? And why with this godawful semblance of plot?? All we wanted was a game where Ellie and Joel went adventuring. We wanted it to be emotional, yes.
    We did not want THIS.
    THIS IS NOT THE GAME WE WANTED
    Oh, and don't even get me started on Ellie finding out the truth about Joel's lie. I waited seven years to see her reaction to what Joel did to her, and it was crammed into a three minute cutscene? Are you kidding me???
    A better plot would have been Ellie and Joel adventuring etc, and Ellie find out DURING their/the player's adventure, leading to a massive confrontation between them, and THEN we witness ****'s death and Ellie's guilt at having hated him right before he died. Instead, we see it in snippets of stupid, lazy flashback cutscenes that happen so sporadically that we don't bother putting them together and it just cuts the tension down to nothing. They happen so randomly that we have absolutely no attachment to them. They should have happened WHILE THE ADVENTURE WAS ONGOING. Why should the player care about something that happened in 2 minutes three years before the game started??
    I hate this game so much, oh my Goddd. The ONLY good thing in this game is the acting performances, because they were great. But i detested the game so much that I can't even give it a point for that. My God. I'm still so let down 2 years later my Goddd.

    El juego solo tenía que hacer 1 cosa bien y lo arruino, solo tenía que darnos una clásica historia de venganza y redención pero no, nos entregaron una historia con la protagonista forzada a tomar un camino innecesario, sin eso la historia pudo haber funcionado mejor pero no era lo único negativo. The story is AMAZING, once you get over Joel dying and get into the actual story everything makes sense. You will feel awful when you beat the game, but I think that's the point.     This is one of the most dragged out games I've played. The characters are counter intuitive, the narration, story and screen play are all over the place. Game become reparative real quick. And things arent consistent. The story is riddled with plot holes.

    Visually it's spectacular, the gameplay it's quite good but nothing refreshing. The story is pure crap.

    -Gameplay literally lifted from a 2012 game -Poorly written, unlikable and unrecognizable "characters" (In the case of Ellie ESPECIALLY) -Some of the most cringe inducing pandering I've seen in my life    I finally got around it and played this mess, and Oh Boy, let me say that this is the one game that If I could, I would give a negative score.
    Without going into specifics, you have:

    -Gameplay literally lifted from a 2012 game
    -Poorly written, unlikable and unrecognizable "characters" (In the case of Ellie ESPECIALLY)
    -Some of the most cringe inducing pandering I've seen in my life
    -Generic "revenge bad" plot
    -One of the worst "partings" to a beloved character to date
    -THE grossest sex scene ever put in a video game to date

    Really, I take even an Issue with people that say to give it a shot and play this game because it looks "graphically impressive".

    You see, when you have a story driven game and the story is an absolute disaster, graphics don't really matter in my book, saying: "But it looks good though!" is a very shallow compliment for something that really doesn't benefit the overall experience in any way that I would consider substantive, especially if you realize how weak the other two components are.
    And sure, it's a great extra if the game looks nice, but it should never, EVER, be the focus you strive for (See the Order 1886).

    No wonder there was a massive exodus from Naughty Dog after this game was released, I can't think that in good faith a lot of people working there saw this and thought it was ok in any capacity.

    And you better leave your other IPs alone from now on, I shudder to think what a Neil Druckmann Jak & Daxter or Uncharted game post TLOU2 would look like.

    As for future entries, do whatever you want with this series, get aliens involved, IDFC, at this point my investment is dead and buried, I'll probably skip part 3 and watch the cutscenes on YouTube or something like that.    … Expand

    i like this game because its different from other games in the story .
    most other studios make games that dont have much risk but naughty dog made game that is beautiful and amazing in game play and story . they made this game while they knew it may not be satisfactory for the fans so this is commendable .

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The developers of The Last of Us said that part 1 was about love, and part 2 is about hate. They really nailed that. I can't think of a game in recent years that has made me feel more emotions than this game. My only real complaint is that while the second half does a good job of humanizing you've grown to hate for the first half of the game, it doesn't really inspire you to want to continue forward. You see all of the characters you've grown to care about and forcing you to brutally kill them off feels truly awful. There were several times where I felt like I'd be better off not finishing the game, and it doesn't make you feel much better at the end. As such I can't say I'd recommend the game to just anyone, but as a whole it was a pretty bold narrative all throughout. If you need happy endings to function normally, don't play this game.

    Also most of these 0 star reviewers can just be honest and say they hate the gays. The way the story plays out it doesn't matter even a little if Dina was a girlfriend or a boyfriend.

    There are more genuine reasons to hate this game than "my girl character kissed a girl and it broke my narrow perspective on life."

    The characters are nuanced and have personalities of their own. They're very much not vessels for the player to impose themselves onto. You will be forced to do things as a character that disgust you throughout the game, hopefully more than the character being gay.    … Expand

This game was literally the only game I threw away after playing through for a couple hours, I think this game definitely deserves the bad press it got 100%, the story is bland and focuses way too much on making the female characters strong and turning a smart and strong man dumb and weak, this is also excluding murdering him very early on, and the biggest issue with this is the fact that a lesbian bigot straight up tortured him and killed him in front of Ellie, who was practically his child and they cared for each other, but she also bit off two of Ellie’s fingers as well, and this **** gets to live after all of this, this isn’t even taking into account the other important characters they kill off and the game tries to hard to make you like the person you hate. Definitely not worth the money and the critic reviews in this game definitely aren’t deserving, and they certainly don’t have your interests in mind. I mean it has some big problems, but it has very good things too. Some parts as Ellie or Abby aren't good, but some other parts were very very good. Joel's death was a bit usless, and yes the Game is a bit to long, but it still have some very good Features and parts so I think it is a fair 7/10… Expand

    I'm a little late on my review but TLoU 2 is awesome. It's definitely up there with my top tier games right behind TLoU Part 1 remake. The story is great. The graphics are great especially for coming out on PS4 originally. It's definitely a game you should play. The characters are great too. I love it all.

    This was a let down. they chose to scrap their beloved charters in exchange for a new one that wasn’t interesting or likable at all. Neil thinks sex is a good way to get sympathy from a female lead and that isn’t true all you need is good writing a characters, something that Matthew knew a lot about.     This game is a misunderstood masterpiece. It tells an amazing story that most game devs aren't brave enough to tell. It's mechanics, graphics, presentation and other features are all significantly improved over the first game. This game is an easy 10/10. All you need to enjoy it is an open mind, a modicum of empathy and an IQ in the double or triple digits.

The combat, the stealth and the storytelling is beautiful when you're playing. But, in terms of story, I can understand why people got mad at this sequel. The way it tells you the deaths and how it affects the main characters was not the best option, and in my personal experience, I've waited for years to see the conflict between Joel and Ellie, but the way they kill Joel is so quickly that it confuses me. The flashbacks and the fact that you have to play with Abby doesn't help. But on the other hand, the revenge path of Ellie is enjoyable and the ending is good if you ask to me. So, the game is fun and it's a "good" ending for Ellie's story, but it could have been much better.… Expand

I can honestly say no game, book, movie, tv show, theatre or any entertainment medium has EVER pulled as much out of me than this game. TLOUP2 has made me feel it all, I laughed hard, cried hard, felt such joy and glee, felt pure anger, felt intrigued, pure fun & satisfaction, felt nostalgic, giddy, fear, pure terror, a lot of adrenaline, blew my mind with its lore and depth, puzzled me only to deliver a satisfying answer, it made me feel sick, impressed me, was unpredicatable, just felt so real and well realised. I've felt it all and am blown away at how deep and how much it pulls from you. It's genuinely exhaustng. I was literally SHAKING at one point in the game. No game/movie/show has ever triggered a physical response from me. It truly is something special, it says a lot about the person playing it. The characters and world are so three dimensional that you just accept them as real people. It's so well done. This is no doubt the ceiling to how well a game can execute on fiction and have every aspect works together to present itself the best as possible. Truly one of the greatest games or entertaintment products in all mediums ever. It may not be for everyone but at the very least if you loved the first you have to play this and experience such a masterpiece. The game asks a lot from you and I am happy it does. It doesn't hold your hand. It will challenge you to think about yourself as well as the game. It's truly a game of the generation and one that can be interpreted and analysed and replayed and only gets better with time, perspective and experience. Truly a game that is special and unlike anything I'll likely ever play. The team deserves all the awards. It's no wonder as of writing this it's the most awarded game in history. You'll be hard pressed to find a game that can pull such emotions out of the player. Truly something special and incredible.… Expand

    One of the most detailed and immersive games I've played. Combat is smooth and brutal, characters are realistic. I take only 1 point away for the story, i personally didn't like the pacing and certain descions for character, but the story is still thought out, realistic and emotional. Highly recommend.

    I think The Last of Us Part II is a good game. People tend to expect this game to be exactly the same as part I, but they are wrong, this is a game that teaches us, just like some movies or TV shows, that real monsters are human and not zombies or infected if you want to call them that.

The concept and moral behind the story is interesting but I feel the writer underestimated just how much people love Joel and Ellie. Killing Joel like that might be forgivable but forcing you to play as his killer and trying desperately to make you like her is just gross. I quit playing after watching she hulk pummel Ellie in the face. Thats MY Ellie! I seriously wanted Abbie to die in a fire.
