This game was beautifully crafted and had me on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the entire course of the story. Fueled with anger and hate at the beginning, then empathy and sadness in the middle, and finally peace at the end.

I loved each character -- even Abby who I had initially hated. The relationships between each main character was genuine and amazing. This experience was like no other.

I am very proud of Naughty Dog and the risks they took with this game. I hope they do not let the negative criticisms deter them from continuing to take similar risks in the future.

This game is a must play to anyone who loves an amazing story. Way to go Naughty Dog!

I know there are a ton of controversies about this game but they are mainly based on ridiculous personal preferences or lazy thinking. This game is a masterpiece. From the visuals, to the gameplay, and especially the story line, it keeps you more than 100% invested the entire time! Easily one of the top 5 games and stories every developed. You’d be insane not to play this game!

One of the best of the whole generation
The game has bugs as every good game has, the fact of murdering almost the most beloved character (Joel) is a little disgusting for me, preferred to kill another character, the character development is masterful, you get very fond of the characters, very well made here sony

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm giving this game a 10 because none of these haters want to give a proper rating. Let's get the easy parts away. This is the best looking game I've ever played and it's still on PS4. The music is a pure masterpiece, the voice acting, motion capture and facial expressions are so realistic. The combat is way better than the first game, we don't have Ellie from the first game literally running into the bad guys without being seen. And now, the story. People are still talking about it today because sometimes, the most controversial art is the most beautiful. The story left me speechless in tears, depressed for a whole month and no other game has ever done that to me.

First of all, we're gonna talk about Joel's death. While I can understand why some people think it doesn't make sense, that Joel was given way too easy to Abby, coincidences, etc. I don't think that really matters at all. The death scene was absolutely ruthless, I was shocked and angry. But I kinda asked myself: "Why was Abby so angry at Joel in the first place?" and I wanted to give her a chance. Also, they are living in an apocalypse where everyone does good and bad things in order to survive. Joel's death was the main part of the game.

Abby's part. People were quite angry they had to play as her. Naughty Dog never wanted you to feel sympathy for Abby or to like her character, they just wanted you to see her perspective and why all of this happened. This is the part where I realized the statement I made earlier that everyone does anything to survive and to keep their loved ones safe. No one is the antagonist in this story. In fact, Ellie and Abby are very similar to each other. I can find connection between Abby and Joel as well (caring about a loved one, Abby cares for Lev, Joel cares for Ellie). Abby wanted to risk her life and betray her group in order to save Lev, Joel made a selfish decision too by saving Ellie. We also realize that Marlene actually didn't want the surgery to happen. The doctor (Abby's father, who was killed by Joel) also didn't like it, but it was his only chance to try and develop a cure.

What I noticed is how everyone was happy with all the brutal stuff Ellie did, but I think they missed the point of the game. I think Naughty Dog wants to show you how much pain Ellie caused (pretty much killed all of Abby's friends). Even though Nora was quite an **** I was quite worried for Ellie when she was raging while killing her with that pipe. As well as killing Owen and Mel, who was actually pregnant. Ellie even decided to leave, but Abby found her. The fight scene against Ellie was brutal and quite uncomfortable. It's just like the Nora part. Naughty Dog makes you PLAY the decisions your character made even though those decisions are really bad. It's a cool touch in my opinion. The fact that I had to choke Ellie while spamming the square button really shattered me.

The ending. Finally, Ellie is seemingly in a good spot with Dina and her child. She is trying to live a normal life, but her PTSD is kicking in all the time. The only memory of Joel that pops in her head is Joel dying on the floor, beaten (notice how Abby used to have nightmares about her dad as well). Tommy comes in one day and tells her where Abby is currently at. Ellie refused to go but the next night she decides to leave. Dina was very disappointed and Ellie probably felt bad as well, but she couldn't take it anymore. She finally gets to Abby, who's also beaten. They get into a fight and then, one of the most controversial parts of the game comes in. Ellie lets Abby leave. A lot of people thought that the whole game was pointless because of that, but I disagree. Ellie learned a lesson. Ellie noticed how Abby was taking good care of Lev. While Ellie was choking Abby, she flashed to Joel, perfectly fine and healthy, for the first time. She remembered a conversation she had with Joel where she told him that she wants to try forgive him for what he's done. But in order to forgive Joel, she has to forgive Abby because they were all put in the same situation. Abby stopped having nightmares after she met Yara and Lev. She started caring about someone else and let her father rest as a good memory. There's so much more I can talk about this game, but I think that's all I wanna say right now. What a journey it has been.

The Last of Us Part II is quite the complicated game. First things first, the graphics look out of this world. The fact that it’s running on a PS4/PS4 Pro and it looks like a next gen game, is just amazing. Now, subjectively, this games story isn’t badly written, it’s just very badly paced and and feels like it isn’t in the correct order. Reasons being that in most story’s you have a rising climax. In this game there is a rising climax, and at the midpoint where the rising climax gets even bigger, in this game the rising climax drops down completely at the midpoint, and is like this for a good few hours, until it immediately rises back up again. It goes up and down a few time’s before the ending, making this game, from a subjective standpoint, bad. But, for some reason, for me that didn’t effect me. I was still engaged with this game, I still wanted to play it, I wanted to complete my goal as Ellie. I was utterly and completely hooked on this game. And, to this games credit, once I finished this game and the credits rolled.. I sat there, motionless. I didn’t feel sad, nor did I feel anger, happiness or anything of the sorts. I felt empty. I felt completely empty. And no other game I have played made me feel this. And, also this game is by far the most emotional i’ve been playing a game. I cried and sobbed A LOT, and if you loved the first game like me, chances are you’ll feel emotional all through out the story also. Another big issue this game faced was its pacing. It’s all over the place. Like I mentioned. At around the mid way point, instead of the action getting more and more, it dropped, and you became less gripped by the story. The first 10 or so hours of the game will have you gripped, and you won’t want to stop playing, but after that you dont feel as engaged as previously. I feel if the game was structured in a different way, it would have been much more fun to play, and have you gripped through out the whole story.

Moving away from story. The gameplay in this is absolutely phenomenal. Every encounter you play whether it be against humans or the infected, you always have this feeling of dread or fear while you hide (or go guns blazing, depending on your play style) around the tall grass or under the cars as you try to get a sneak attack on someone, or something. The gameplay is like the first game, but better. This game flows much better, the gun play feels better, stealth has been built up on, and like the previous game, it gives you the feeling that you are in an apocalypse with little ammo.

Of course, there is a moment that has divided the fan base. I won’t tell you what to believe, but all I will say is power through to the end, it way change your thoughts, or solidify your thoughts. If you’re a fan of this game, you’re either going to love it, or despise it. I happen to be the former, it’s a wonderful piece of art and one of my favourite games, as well as its predecessor. If this game wins GOTY 2020, I’d say that it’s well deserved. Well done naughty dog, you did it again.

Very good job. Really one of the best games I've ever played. If you're looking for a story about REAL humans — this is the best choice. There are no 100% good or 100% bad persons. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is unfortunate that the production team chose a path to such a mediocre story. They could have played an epic game, with Joel and Ellie in a more mature relationship, who knows until his death, but in a dignified way, like a warrior he was, and not with a simple coadjuvant. They could have written an intelligent, captivating script as in the first game, but they preferred to try to break the expectation, and the result was total rubbish. If the graphic design was not so beautiful, this game would be a total failure, honestly, I would like to get my money back. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a masterclass in storytelling, game design, animation, game systems and more than anything narrative. Unfortunately, it has been subject to negative criticism from people who are unable to handle the emotional stress it puts you through. Naughty Dog asks us the hard questions about our own personalities even as we put ourselves in the shoes of each character.
Joel dies guys, deal with it. I cried. But I didn't hate on the game because of that. It's amazing how you hate Abby in the beginning. When the turn happens in Seattle Day 3 and we are forced to play as Abby. I put the controller down and took a day off. I pushed myself to continue and that decision paid off. By the end of the game, I did not want to kill Abby when I fight with her as Ellie. I was rooting for Abby not to die. The same Abby that killed Joel. Now, that is the beauty of this medium we call video games. The agency and narrative possible does not allow a movie to achieve this level of involvement.
This is why I think this game should be in the hall of fame of video games.
A few other things I want to state is the amazing work the studio has done with every art in the game. Design, Mechanics, Animation. Everything perfected. The sound design and cinematography are top notch and better than most Hollywood blockbusters. Overall, an amazing experience that puts you through some dark and some very fun light moments.

I'm trying to understand why so many negative marks in the game. I swear I paid full attention to the story in search of "nonsense", but it is something expected in games. They delivered what they had to deliver. But there were some points I didn't like, like Ellie's relationship with Joel. She hid too much of a feeling that she had, which actually turned out to be obsessive. - ok but ifI'm trying to understand why so many negative marks in the game. I think there were several unnecessary moments and another highly risky one to get basic items.

Despite my criticism, I don't take all the positive side out of the game. Like the cut scenes that were sensational, the "heavy" moments, the attention to graphics, Sound Design, micro details. It is certainly one of the best games of all time, but it is not a perfect game, as neither is. So there are flaws that may be able to improve in the future.

I was so hyped for this game and I was ignoring all the bad reviews and all the talk about how this game was terrible.
Then I played it and just finished it. To be honest it is a masterpiece in its own unique niche way....
I just don't agree with the storytelling approach they took..

At the beginning naughty dog makes you angry that Joel died, and I accepted Joel's death.
And I pushed forward as hard as I could to see it through to get to Abby, to face her, and to ideally take revenge.
But then you made me play as Abby way too long... maybe there could have been an Abby Ellie back and forth... I just really thought we played as Abby way too long. And honestly, multiple times when Abby died by my mistakes during gameplay, I was like that's good, game over you can stay dead Abby.

Anyway, the game does end well... But the whole journey was not enjoyable to be honest because all I wanted to do was rush through abby as fast as possible and I really didn't take time to enjoy any of the gameplay with Abby...

    So yea...

I'll keep the game I won't sell it like everyone else probably will.
Honestly, I hope the Ellie and Abby story is over
I don't want to play as Ellie or Abby ever again

If we get to have a last of part 3 please please give us a different character and or something in the last of world that is completely different.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an absolute masterpiece.

Before anyone tries to invalidate me, I am a huge fan of TLOU 1, it has been part of my early adolescence and I'm still obsessed with the story and the characters, *especially* after this Part II.

A lot of the complaints about this game are about how it ruined Ellie and Joel's relationship, but face it, everything that happened was solid and possible. Ellie is a character that's got nobody, she lost her best friend, she lost the only adult that cared about her before Joel (Marlene), she didn't have parents, and then the only loving figure she had lied to her and took away the real true meaning to her life (still on part 1). If you expected Ellie to become a Disney princess or to still see the world and Joel the way she saw in the first game, you are making a fool of yourself.

People are also saying that they loved the first game and this part 2 ruined it etc etc, but people I am begging you to reconsider because you're missing the point. This game is about reality, it's about how life changes and people evolve, it shows the brutality and violence we have in ourselves and how this apocalyptic world intensifies it even more. The first game was also intense and cruel, we can't deny that, but this game really shows us the truth about our inner world, about how our love can make us do the most cruel things.

About Abby. If you played and you didn't connect with her it's ok I get it, nobody has to like every part of everything, but if you couldn't build empathy for her after seeing the humanity in her actions, the love she had for those around her and then seeing her best friends and father dying one by one, did you even play the game? TLOU II really slapped us right in the face and showed us how our actions have countless consequences in other people's lives and their love and need for justice are just as valid as ours. If you just don't care about Abby and her plot, I sincerely think you're just close-minded and (in this case at least) can't see the world beyond your own perspective and notice how other people's lives are just as important as yours.

About Joel. Joel is a great character, he is a father figure not just for Ellie, but I guess for everyone who connected with him, but he is not perfect and his actions were selfish. I'm not saying I can't understand because if it was up to me I would save Ellie too, but it was selfish and there's no denial. This may not had become the snowball it was if Joel had just told the truth, it's her life she deserves to know, and he didn't tell her until the situation got critic. Joel is great, but he is human, his death was human and his actions were human, there's no point in wanting Joel to die in a glorious way because this would've been fake. Joel created his own fate and died as everyone else in this universe: as a human. I personally love Joel and missed him this whole game, but he needs to be seen the way he is, and that's what this game is all about, Joel is not a hero nor a villain, he is just a person doing what it's best in his point of view, there's no point in glorifying his life or death because he just did what everybody else would do, care about his loved ones.

What this game did was brave. It destroyed the comfort zone and I'm so grateful that it has set such high parameters for storytelling and character development and it really did deliver an evolved and real story. It didn't have any fan service and I'm so thankful for this. For those who got the game, Naughty Dog really made us look to ourselves and see the real and brutal parts of our emotions, made us think about our relationships and how the best for us can mean hell for another person. I'm never gonna play a game like this in my whole life for sure, but I thank every day for what this game did for the gaming community. As a fan, I expected evolution, well developed characters, an interesting game, good combat, an incredible story, something that could really make this game unforgettable, and I received so much more.

This money was REALLY well spent.

(Ps.: For those who were bothered by TLOU having LGBTQ+ representation and stuff you judge as "leftists", please remove yourself from the TLOU community, it would mean the world)

Boring repetitive gameplay along with one of the worst stories I've ever seen. I've been gaming for 30 years now and it's a tragedy that gaming has sunk this low.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright have seeing all the massive negativity thrown this games way, especially on the DAY of the launch, I was expecting to a moderate level of story structure with character development and story arcs to be about the same if not worse. I was surprisingly wrong and not that shocked at the massive amount of negativity thrown toward this games direction. It's on par with the DMC: Devil May Cry game, when that came out a lot of people were just hating on the game and blasting it online. Now onto the giant elephant in the room with this game, Joel's death. That seemed to solidify a lot of peoples hatred for this from the get go which, again, I can understand why they were made but I don't understand why they couldn't look past their anger. This game is very much different in it's story telling then any game I can think of, it feels more a kin to an actual novel then your standard story in a game and that I think is fantastic. It shows Naughty Dog is willing to elevate and evolve the way we tell stories in games which is something that has to change. Many games now-a-days fall victim to the obvious flow and point system. For example, whens the last time you played a game when you were in your enemies shoes? When's the last time you played a game where you were running around and gunning down the people shooting at you then next minute you are seeing their actual day to day operations and camps that have men, women, and children just doing their best to survive a horrible situation. Now that's not to say all you get are sunshine and rainbows on the other end, you do see their darker sides, like the toture and suffering they were inflicting on the captured Seraphites. Or their real lack of compassion toward anyone that is not fully with them, that's an encompassing story. There's an author, Sherillyn Kenyon, who has done this exact thing with certain characters in her stories, not afraid of showing them at their lowest points and their highest. To me this game elevated from where the original took off and just kept reaching for higher aspirations.

If you REALLY feel the story was bad, that's fine. But if your only major complaint is that Joel is dead and you have to play as his murderer and understand her side of the story. Then your opinion doesn't matter because what Naughty Dog did here was great and it should be respected as such.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. *sigh where do i start?

Let me say my credentials so you don't think i'm a 'troll' or 'right wing bot'.

I played The Last of Us on PS3, then got it on PS4. It became a game i would return to again and again, i played the game 6 times. Multiplayer was very fun and i happily spent hundreds of hours in the mode. I was hyped, i followed every development that the game had, nearly bought the collectors edition, but settled on the deluxe edition. With all that out of the way, i have to describe my experience.

I stayed up late, i was in the discord of the subreddit, watching as the minutes ticked down. I was one of the first to enter the game. I was excited, I've only seen one spoiler and it was minor. I got into the game, and... i was blown away, the graphics and stuff. I remember Joel and Ellie's relationship being kinda rocky in the start. Then i was so so on the new characters, Then, i saw Joel's death. I was hoping it was going to happen later on in the game, as the marketing showed Joel alive in Seattle, so i thought maybe he was alive but brained damaged/coma. I had to stop there because it was a awful way to die, but it fits the universe. I picked back up in the morning, i wanted revenge, and i went out of my way to kill every WLF patrol in game play, i didn't feel any remorse over who Ellie killed, as she was acting in self defense. The flashbacks were amazing, between Joel and Ellie hit the right balance between good writing and character development. The only flashback that felt off because of little talking that happened was when Ellie goes back to salt lake hospital and learns what happens. We get 3 sentences and it's a shatter relationship. Then we get to the most meh of meh parts, Abby's entire section.

Oh boy, Abby has no goal. The Entire. God. Damn. Time. Her flashbacks were nice, i really liked Owen out of the new cast, Smart, resourceful and pragmatic. Mel was the worst of the new cast, it makes no sense for her to be out in combat, the first thing that happens is she and everyone of the new cast gets AMBUSHED and she's out here thinking everything will be fine. Anyway back to Abby. This leads back into my theory of Part 1, a theory that was put out by Joseph Anderson in his review of the game, that the fireflys have no idea what the **** they are doing. I thought Part 2 would spend more time fleshing out this theory that the fireflys were bad, by replacing it with anything to make me care more about the group. Instead you see that they really are scum, they rather they sacrifice the only known case of immunity so they can excuse there own sins. They don't have the best interest in helping anyone. It's just a reactionary group trying to gasp there way back into relevance. It's not like the fireflys would be able to make this cure, or that they would give it out freely. Joel's choice was selfish, but looking at the bigger picture, it's good the best choice for humanity.

I was really sad to learn that Part 2 doesn't try and disprove the theory i said above, as i think the writers want you to think that they are good, and Joel is bad bad man that 'doomed' humanity. So now we have Abby, a firefly member that would sacrifice herself to her cause, meanwhile, they don't even allow Ellie to have that choice. Anyway, when i was fighting Abby, i wanted her to die, i didn't want to hurt Ellie. The game forced me to win that encounter, because they knew if we played as Ellie, Abby would be dead. I think that alone is a failing of the games story, no matter what growth both characters went through.

We had a entire game to like Joel and Ellie. We were given no backstory except key snippets of Abby's life. The parts relating to Ellie and Joel. What did she do to join the WLF? What was she doing in her time in the WLF? All of these questions are never answer or hinted at. the best guess you could do is that Abby is 'the best Scar killer' so killing people daily. It just fells like there is a ghost game that would have bridged the cap between Part 1 and Part 2 that would follow Abby and Abby only and at the very end hint at her coming after Joel. Then we have buildup and we like for sure both characters, not because they have kids, but because we could feel bad for them. WLF kill all trespasser, you think Abby's never had to shoot a family? If you think about it, the WLF is a Hunter group, a group of people who freely kill people within there territory. Instead of for supply's, for ??? why do they kill trespassers again? Could you image if aside from Scar's, they accepted outsiders in, just like Jackson? Could you imagine seeing the same **** you saw in Jackson in the WLF? Then it would be a lot more questionable, but nope, they send kill squads around to kill anyone that isn't WLF.

Anyway, this review is getting long, i rated it a 3 because the game play graphics and sound are godlike. The story however, has serious flaw

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought this game is really really great. It is worth 10/10. Wonderful story, but I think, the story is not for everyone.

Here my explanation, the story is full of desolating things even the ending is not a happy ending, and this is why I said that this game is not for everyone. This game want to deliver another perspective of gaming, a different point of view of vengeance and of course this game want us to feel devastated, sad even until the end of the game. From the beginning how Joel was dead until the last conversation of Ellie and Joel in the very end of the game. It was so devastating. That's why I think many people didn't like about this game.

How the story made Ellie didn't kill Abby is one of good - weird things that the director wanted to share with us, I think because if Abby is dead, Lev will have a vengeance on Ellie and kill all Jackson people, and the killing never stop. And how the director bring that feeling is so wonderful.

I felt like this story really bring another hard feeling in gaming, another story that made us speechless and even cried after we finished it

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been a console gamer all my life. And when I play any game, my mom doesn't care what is on the TV. Then I played The Last of Us. Funny thing happened, my mom, after watching the intro (which was THE BEST INTRO EVER) stuck around the TV. And I noticed that everytime I play it, she sat down and watched. She was interested! For the first time ever! I was so happy that we connected on a video game even just once. It was special. When the credits rolled, She was asking is there a part 2? I said "maybe". The look on her face, I will never forget. Then TLOU2 was announced! Told my mom and she said "wow. I wanna see it!". My mom died 2019. So devastating.

Picked up TLOU2 on release day after avoiding all the spoilers. Bittersweet since I can't show her anymore. But I was looking forward to playing it. Revisiting my memory of my mom while playing. Maybe imagining she was still watching with me. She was excited for it after all.

Then the first hours of the game happened, doesn't make sense. Then the game ended with Ellie losing everything. . My mom loved these characeters. They were disrespected, and now half of the game I play as the person that destroyed the one video game my mom and I got connected to? I finished it and was glad my mom didn't see it. She would have been disappointed. Thanks Naughty Dog.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I created an account just to to rate this one game. This is my first and last rating for a game in a website because I don't usually do this ****
    The good:
The reason for three star for this so called masterpiece is 1) the game had absolutely **** gorgeous graphics in terms of attention to detail, scenery and also the gore 2) I really enjoyed the gameplay mechanics of the game even though after few hours into the game it gets **** boring. 3) This game made me appreciate and treasure the first game even more.
(This next part is for all those who played the first game and is looking forward to playing this sequel)
    THE BAD:
Whatever criticism I am gonna give this game is fully based on how **** of a storytelling the game had. I repeat I. Dont. Give. **** About. How. Characters. Look. Or. What. Gender. They. Are. I don't care about these type of things when I am playing a story driven game.
For all those who enjoyed the first game because the ending of the game left it up to you decide whether what Joel did was right or wrong. For those who thought what Joel did was right this game shows the biggest middle finger to all you people as the whole purpose of this sequel was to manipulate you into thinking you are a horrible person for supporting and relating to Joel. The game shows you not only how he got killed but also forces you to play as the killer for the second half of the game and tries to make sure you sympathize with her and makes you believe that Joel was a **** person and deserve to die but never expands on why he was **** person besides the fact he killed a person to save person whom he sees as a daughter. The killer, Abby is so poorly written that she is willing to go full on pyschopath on Joel because he killed her dad ( because he was trying to save Ellie but **** you for supporting that **** even though he saved Abby just minutes ago but proceeds to kill people from her own group just to save two kids who were in fact from the enemy faction just because they rescued her a few days earlier. Abby proceeds to kill a pregnant character but only stops because one of the kids tells her not to. The true psychopath in this game is Abby and the second game is made just to make sure you should sympathize with this pyschopath and if you don't you don't support women empowerment. This games makes you kill people for the sake of the story then tells you are a piece of **** for doing it. It tries to be complex and rich but ended up being stupid and manipulative towards a certain character. I am fine with Joel dying for the story but they could have done so much more. Like actually spend some time in the flashbacks and show us what type of **** person he was but no, they choose to flashbacks where he was trying to have a father and daughter bonding with Ellie. They went to the extreme extend to show you how good of person Joel was and then tells you that you are a piece of **** for agreeing with Joel when he tried to save someone he loves. The story would have been way better if they just revealed Joel's death at the end when Abby and Ellie meet in the theater. They could have started of showing Ellie was hunting for a person in Seattle because they killed somebody she loved because at this point we still be thinking it was Dina (personally Dina served no purpose whatsoever in the Seattle). At this we could have keep switching between Ellie and Abby as both them continued what they were doing with their lives in the three days in Seattle. We could have seen how Abby reacted with her friends and the next scene we will play as Ellie killing off those friends. And when they finally meet at the theater, it's only then we find out it was actually Joel who got killed and not Dina. This would have been a twist worth playing for. We could have cut off so much of unnecessary time and boring fetch quests and the game wouldn't have been this bloated and dragging. As person with **** internet connection, I play mostly single player games because for the sake of the story. The first game made me think for myself on what is right and what is wrong and what is the fine line in between. This sequel exist to manipulate and forces you to agree with what it thinks is right and wrong. The characters should work around the story but sadly this story made to suit, glorify and sympathize with only one character. The worst part of this game is the fact that I can't even remember whether Joel knew why he died. I don't remember Abby telling him that he killed her father. I don't even think Elie knows why Abby killed Joel. (Please do correct me if I am wrong on this) I am only writing this review because this game broke me mentally and I needed a place to talk about this cuz none of my group of people are heavily invested in videogames especially single player.

    ***some spoilers below***
Playing as Abby was extremely frustrating at first, but by the end I realized I actually cared about her character. This is a testament to the great story and character development in this game. I wanted Abby to die a horrible death at the beginning and by the end I found it difficult to fight her. That's how much my feelings had changed, which is rather amazing. This video game actually gave me a new perspective on not always painting the opposing side as the villain or "evil". This can be applied to relationships with people all the way to politics. There are things with the story that were tough to handle, but there were also great things done as well. I'm so glad I didn't listen to all these user reviews and actually played the game. There is a reason why the critic reviews for this game are so high and I agree with them. I give it 10's across the board for story, gameplay, graphics. The music is absolutely phenomenal.

    This game is a masterpiece.

The Last of Us: Part II gave me a completely new experience. I've never seen anything close to it, neither in games nor movies/books. It removes you from your comfort zone by showing you the "villain" side of the story, explaining that the so-called "hero" is not as heroic as you would imagine. I've read many bad reviews, but the complaints are what I love

I've read many bad reviews, but the complaints are what I love the most in this game: breaking down the traditional "hero" story.

There are plenty of movies/books doing the same, but TLOU (both Part I and II) creates a dichotomy between love/hate that I've never seen before.

You can dive into this game and see many small pieces that tell you this story. The way they've connected Joel/Ellie with music is absolutely magical!

With no further due, I can say that The Last of Us: Part II is the best game I've played in my whole life.

Yes it might have a few narrative flaws. but no game is perfect and if you actually pay some attention and realise what the characters are doing and how they are acting you'll understand that its not your story to tell its theirs, there are not as nearly as many plot holes as people say because they just dont pay attention to the game.. The things this game tries to show you like emotions forgiveness revenge hatred anger and many many more alongside with gameplay and graphics are amazing. Expand

Incredible game but understand the disappointment. I truly believe that if the spoilers hadn’t gotten leaked and that people wouldn’t have decided before playing that the game was bad that the game wouldn’t gotten that much negative reviews

This game (well, the story) is the most accurate example ever of a video game that is SUBJECTIVE.
People keep fighting about this game, like, 50% hate it, 50% love it.
Can we just all agree that it's okay to be on one side or the other?

However, once i finally sat down and played it a dew months after, i was absolutely amazed at how brilliant this intimate narrative of love and loss actually was. The game is not perfect, its bloated and paced inconsistently with some bits of dialogue that feel like they needed a pass over in the editing room, but none of this even comes close to diminishing the immensely powerful journey that deals with incredibly heavy themes. Its absolutely not a game for everyone, and in fact I can understand so many players finding it hard to enjoy or sit with. The closest i can book piece of fiction i could compare it to would the works of author cormac mccarthy, primarily the road or no country for old men. In terms of film, the nightingale. Its a beautiful piece of art that not only depicts the bare face of human depravity and barbarism, but it also shows the resilience to find hope in the despair integral of the human condition. By no means is this a game i recommend everyone try, but i can hardly think of a game as emotionally resonant as the last of us 2. Expand

Story of the The last of us part II was so strong and difficult to digest, and as Neil Druckmann said this game is about hate, the story had the best ending. The game environment was very natural and alive.

Геймплей особо не поменялся, но и не должен был. В таких играх жанра сурвайвал-хоррор должен быть медитативный геймплей. Сюжет просто гениален, который не каждый сможет понять, особенно концовку. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is freaking awesome, just finished it and I had to hold my tears, it starts as a revenge story and then becomes a redemption story a forgiveness story and how hard it is for the characters to let go, Joel’s death is pivotal in how the game develops, creates questions, who is Abby why did she killed him, how is Ellie gonna react why did Ellie and Joel not getting along now, does Ellie knows all the truth? And after the setup is complete and you are in a rampage killing scars and Wolfs you are presented with Abby story, which I compare with Raiden in MGS2 it forces you to look on the other side of the mirror, to get control of a character you hate and understand her motivations motivations is a great way to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, may say that her story is plain, I disagree, her story is an evolution of dogma and doctrine to free think and been able to make her own decisions and acceptance of someone who things oposite to you. Overall is a great experience and I believe that anyone without prejudices will enjoy this game Expand

Big fan of TLOU, will defend part 1 as the best ps4 game ever even the online was fun. TLOU2 visually was great but the story is what really drove me off the edge... unfortunately it didn't deliver and hopefully they can fix it down the line maybe. 2/10 and that hurts for me to rate this low but it is what it is.

And i'm not a bloody homophobe, bigot, 'mysogynist' or a transphobe. i just hate the **** dumpsterfire of a story. So dont hit me with those petty arguments. This story basically made Joel an idiot. He trusts Abby for no reason, and casually reveals his name. "oH, bUt jOeL liVEd in pEaCE fOr 5 yEarS." No. You completely brush aside the 25+ years of hardened surviving he went through. Read other reviews for the rest of the story. I'm just here to tell you why my review wasn't higher. for a story-based game, if the story is terrible, there isnt a reason to put the rating higher. If you like the game, it's your choice. Thank you, bye. Expand

The direction they went with this story completely ruined the franchise. Plus the demo they showed at a conference completely suggested the story would go differently. Gameplay is great and much like TLOU1.
    Graphics are incredible.
    Level design is nice.
    Music is good.
    AI could be better.

It's sad when a videogame has to sell its original idea to pander certain group of people in its attempt to be politically correct. The plot is a copy and paste of GOT and totally destroys everything bult during the first game.

At the beginning the story was great one of the most beautiful moments I ever experience there was Elie's birthday but after Joe died and the main character didn't complete what she proposes, complete the game feels more like we had to. no because we want to.
after the 3rd day end and we had to play as Abby we didn't want to support Joe's killer. we just want to know why Ellie had to lose against her. why Ellie saved her if she supposed to kill her. Is like someone said your favorite game is trash but you still playing because you love it and that can't be changed. However Part II, despite having slightly better graphics than the previous game sucked in every other aspect. It seemed as though they just wanted to push some kind of SJW story, while trying to also add some artistic value, but in the end it was just an atrocious attempt. Think of your worst B movie, then multiply that by 10. It really makes me wonder how the so called "critics who get paid' for a living to give honest reviews, gave this monstrosity a perfect 10. If you haven't purchased this game as yet, then I recommend that you do not waste your money buying it. I would recommend you borrow this from somebody first and confirm for yourself before deciding if you will enjoy this game. I am willing to bet that 9 times out of 10, you will agree with my user review. If you want play-ability and good story telling then I would recommend either getting Ghost of Tsushima . Please note that I am just a stranger who has been playing many games since the early 80s and has nothing to gain by being dishonest. I have never reviewed anything before but felt passionately about this specific one, as I could not sit back any longer and allow the makers of this game lie to everyone anymore. Please take what I have said above seriously to avoid disappointment. Sincerely, Not wasting any more time here. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
