    I believe this is easily the best PlayStation exclusive game ever made. Possibly the greatest game of all. I’ve played nearly everything the industry has to offer and this story is the most POWERFUL thing I have ever experienced in a game. If you play the first part straight before, it’s truly emotional. The graphics are amazing. The landscape looks SO GOOD in 4K. You could pour dozens ofI believe this is easily the best PlayStation exclusive game ever made. Possibly the greatest game of all. I’ve played nearly everything the industry has to offer and this story is the most POWERFUL thing I have ever experienced in a game. If you play the first part straight before, it’s truly emotional. The graphics are amazing. The landscape looks SO GOOD in 4K. You could pour dozens of hours in photo mode alone. The fight sequences are smooth and some of the most brutal outside of mortal kombat. Anyone who has played the first game MUST pick this up. There’s a lot of bad press on this one, people are mad the story didn’t go the way “they wanted”.     Apesar de que cuenta con fallas en la historia me párese un guion que cumple con su objetivo hacernos reflexionar sobre nuestras acciones como seres humanos la historia de Abby es buena pero bastante larga me hubiera gustado jugar mas con Ellie es una de las fallas que consideró cuenta el juego

    I thoroughly enjoyed TLOU part 2. The presentation, gameplay, and story were all top class. I truly hope the Devs are not put off by the butt hurt gang, who can't handle a storyline that challenges their sensibilities, and deliver a 3rd installment.

    This game doesn’t deserve the amount of review bombing that it gets from both sides, it’s not a 0/10 and it’s not a 10/10, the game is very entertaining and fun to play, it blends open world levels with more traditional levels very well, the graphics are beautiful and the world naughty dog built is also beautiful.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is incredible. I've never had a game that manages to change my emotions and feelings about characters as it progresses. Originally, I hated Abby and wanted nothing more than to get revenge. But as you progress, you come to realise she is very similar to Joel. You come to care about her, so that when you get to that bit in the cinema, your emotions are all over the place. The game was visually stunning, great audio track and good action sequences. But for me, the real experience was in the progression of the characters and the realisation that there are no good people in this post apocalyptic world. A remarkable achievement in a game. I'm astounded at the poor reviews on here. I think people are missing the whole point of the game, which is a real shame, because I think it's a masterpiece.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is one of the most endearing and thoughtful games I ever experienced. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me feel terrible inside.

    1. Gamplay:

    The gameplay is a step up from the first game, stealth, weapons and looting feel more natural. The difficulty is nicely adjustable, I like to challenge myself, but also don't want a game to feel like a chore. In certain sections however I got frustated with the looting / crafting system, since I had everything fully stocked and couldn't pick up more which didn't satisfied my inner horder and also got me frustated when I actually DID use my ammo / crafted items and after such instances missing them for about three stages after. Moving in the game either by foot aka prone, crouched, upright or even sprinting, felt great and often times created exciting momentum when in combat situation.
    PLUS! The swimming / diving sections didn't make me want to scratch out my eyes or throw the controller away, so that's an improvement.

    The vehicle mechanic sometimes felt lackluster other times exponantially good. The boot section in Seatle Day 3 with Ellie felt tedious at times, the exploration on horseback Day 1 however incredible.

    2. Level Design:

    Overall the level design was well structured and the different set piece impressed me. Manueviring through Seatle either as Ellie or Abby never got boring, although from time to time I caught myself thinking: "OK, where's the hole in the upper wall I have to climb to progress this section?"

    The levels ranged from small, one way streets to open fields, full of potential gameplay / gameplay style options. I have to admit, at one point I even got lost on bigger stages and ran around aimlessly until I finally looked up or the game's assistent actually told me where to go.

    3. The game's look:

    The Last of Us Part II is gorgeous to look at. It definitely looks pretty at it's worst and stunning at it's best. From beautiful fields to gritty dungeon like buildings in Seatle. My only complain would be that I kind of got tired of Seatle's look after Day I Ellie until Abby's Day II. Everything was just masses bleak, gray buildings overgrown with green grass. However in terms of storytelling it does makes sense. I wish we could've played more different set piece than Seatle and then like 4 hours of Santa Barbara. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning parts in Jackson as Ellie and Dina on Patrol and also the farm around the end of the game in term of enviromental design and change of setting.

    And now onto the big, controversial point.

    4. The story:

    I loved it and I am still processing everything that happened even after weeks of finishing the game.
    Let me tell you, I knew that Joel was going to die and I accepted it. Truth be told, I was never a fan of Joel as a character per sé. I loved him in Part I not because of his personality alone but because of his interactions and his care for Ellie. Although, I have to admit, I loved Ellie from the her first appearance and in my opinion Ellie always had been the protagonist of the games since the start, Joel, even though I played as him in Part I, felt more like a side character next to Ellie. Her story, her experience in the TLOU universe was the point of view I cared about.

    And oh boy, Ellie's journey in Part II broke my heart over and over again, leaving me a crying mess at the end of the game. I felt like Joel seeing "my baby girl" being torn apart by her actions and her grief made me suffer and hate everything that happened to her. I empathized with her, a fictional character, to understand how she could just go on and on even though she was clearly hurting herself and everyone around her the whole time. At the end of the game I got the feeling Ellie after Joel's death sought revenge on Abby only to punish herself for not forgiving herself and Joel for their own actions.

    Abby as a stark contrast I actually didn't like that much from the beginning until the end. I didn't care much about her friends, her life or her struggles, however I cared about the people she wanted to protect. She changed over the course of the game and in the end I wanted her to succeed in her plans of finding the fireflies not for her sake, but for her companion's - Lev.

    I like that the bait and switch from Ellie to Abby after being confronted by her in the theater on Day 3. I actually looked forward to see her experience losing her friends one after the other I got to kill as Ellie.

    At the end of the game I didn't want either of those women to die. Just rest and be happy again for god's sake.

    The only thing about I really disliked was the last chapter in Santa Barbara. It felt tagged on and rushed and I didn't get enough info on a new section "The rattlers" to satisfy my need for world building.

    Overall I recommend this game and advice to empathize with it's characters struggles and inner thoughts    … Expand

In the least spoiler way I can say - there is a period in the middle of the game where I legitimately wanted to stop playing because I didn’t want to play as the character I was in control of. However, a couple hours later, I became really invested in the story and new perspective. Visually the game is stunning. Gameplay is incredibly solid, though it is quite violent at times. I’m not a squeamish person, and I still found myself cringing at times. Overall, this game is truly an emotional experience that makes you THINK. So many diehard fans out there are saying that the studio has ruined their favorite characters, and I just really don’t buy that. Just because the story didn’t go the way you expected/hoped based on your dreams of a sequel doesn’t mean it isn’t a perfectly crafted story with fully realized and developed character motivations. Play this game. Sit with this game. Experience this game. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you away.… Expand

Intense to say the least.I think, put simply, the polarisation that the story created reflects the IQ gap within the gaming community. If you can't separate your illogical emotional biases from the fictional characters and, as a result, think the plot is "bad", you're low IQ.     the game is really good i enjoyed every part of it every yes there are some parts in the story that makes you a Little sad but every aspect of the game is amazing the story is solid and the graphics are so realistic and the gameplay is so excellent so in conclusion i recommend the game so mush i give it 10 out of 10 this game is a MASTERPIECE

    The graphics and the story are wonderful, I would say that TLOU 2 is better than TLOU 1, and it's all the truth. The life is not always happy, like this game, don't hope to find in this a game with flowers and Mickey Mouse dancing in a rainbow. TLOU 2 takes risks and it is a game that will be remember through the years.

    The gameplay was decent.
    The story was an absolute joke that made me with I had never bothered with this piece of trash. My girlfriend and I played through the first one together and loved it. But by the end of this game we were both in awe of how mind numbingly boring it was. This was 20+ hours of garbage drama.

    If your going to kill the main protagonist and force your player to play the villain might as well change the name of your game then calling it a part 2. Also this could have been stomached better if the player was given the choice to kill Abby in the end rather then forcing the story on them. The game feels like the first one but with a few new mechanics that, indeed, took the game to a new level but not too far from de previous one. Nevertheless, that the only good part of the game, The Last of Us 2 is a direct betrayal to the fans of this saga, killing the main protagonist in the first hours of gameplay. A protagonist regarded as one of the most beloved ones in the gaming community. I’m speechless with the narrative, they just don’t want people to play it, they manage somehow to make Ellie such a weak woman that she couldn’t even kill Joel’s murderer, she’s far better than that.… Expand

The game is good in my opinion since it handles different mechanics and varied game modes, in relation to the story it seems to me that Joel's death was a justified reason, soon after in the story they show us the climax that is when Abby reaches the theater where Ellie hides and shoots Jesse, it seems to me that they did it wrong, since we started with the story of Abby, the emotion of the moment was taken from us, not like the last of us 1 who in his climax kept us with that constant emotion.
    but the rest of the story is good and has a justified ending that left more than one shocked.
    I end this by saying that this game from the beginning said it would be dark, and this was reflected from start to finish.    … Expand

I always say that you should experience something for yourself in order to cast judgement, and this game is a perfect example. I think that this game has so much love and dedication behind it and you can really see that when you enter this new world. It’s dark, it’s gritty, and absolutely beautiful at the same time. I love that it’s based in Seattle as it provides a haunting atmosphere that makes you wary of your surroundings while providing beautiful scenery at every which way. The combat in this game is very rewarding since you can choose between a stealthier gameplay or a more action packed gun-ho experience (provided that you have found enough ammo of course). The human A.I (in my experience ) is more difficult to stealthily attack but the runners, clickers and bloaters are susceptible to alerting other enemies in their proximity, which may incentivize the player to use more strategic tactics. In this game it is very rewarding to utilize all of the options that the game offers. There’s no correct way to play a scene since you can encounter it a bunch of different ways by utilizing your surroundings and different weapons. For me this is what made the game so much more difficult and enjoyable at the same time. The story is very unique in the way that it’s presented. You will have catastrophic events that happen to a character, and you may feel anger, guilt, sadness whatever you experience. Then you will be motivated to take revenge. You will feel the same visceral hatred that other characters feel. However, the controversial part (which I enjoyed quite frankly) is that you will be challenged in this regard. It’s difficult to create a game that makes you feel sympathetic to a “bad” character that will appease everybody. In my experience though I had these really volatile feelings but then I started to feel slightly conflicted because I saw parallels between the protagonists and antagonists. I enjoy that the developers created a story where the villain isn’t one-dimensional, and that you can relate to them even if it’s just slightly. By the end of the game, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted, and when it came down to it I didn’t want to continue this journey that started off with this feeling of pure disgust and hatred. It didn’t seem right, morally speaking. This was definitely the most controversial part of the game of course because some people hated it and some people loved it. Of course this is where I reiterate that you should experience it yourself before casting judgement. Your unbiased opinion is much more valuable to developers than simply parroting what other people are saying. Of course I enjoyed this game, it was fantastic and I love the work that was put into it. There’s some parts of the game that could be improved. Some of the AI for the clickers were not consistent in certain areas as I could be moving slowly towards them and somehow they would detect me instantly. Meanwhile in another area I would do the same thing and take out a whole bunch without being spotted. This may be user error though. I only had trouble a couple of times trying to find my way through the map, but luckily I could use the L3 “hint” button to indicate where I was supposed to go. If you need additional help finding where you need to go then there’s additional options in the menu. Lastly, I just wanted to say that I loved the chemistry between Ellie and Joel in the first game, but that’s not what you will get here. This is a completely different story. It deals with the connection between the two characters, but not in the same way. I find that apocalyptic games that deal with a father-like figure and a child are very heartwarming as the relationship poses a contrast between the barbaric, cruel world to the endearing connection of the two characters. If you played TellTale’s TWD, you see this as well between Lee and Clementine. But this is not one of those games. It’s about love but it’s also about seeking revenge and how far someone is willing to go. How much you’re willing to sacrifice. I find that the music really tells the whole story really. I won’t go into specifics, but you will hear a song throughout the game that illustrates what I said previously in the last paragraph. This is a dark story that deals with a bunch of characters that have the same goal. It’s not black and white. For me, it obviously worked. I like the way the story went, I enjoyed the way it was presented, and I want to see more. I can see the story going in many directions, and although Neil Druckman hasn’t officially stated whether or not there will be a third installment, I would love to see what happens to all of the characters.

    Was overall an amazing game. Yea the first one is on its own level but, don't see the point in all the hate. Was a great story great game. Ending was ok (wanted to kill Abby). Thats why an 9 but hands down one of the best games I have played.

I had true hatred for abby after killing joel but after playing her story for 10 hours I grew to like her a little. She had a motive to kill joel because he killed abby's father which was the surgeon who was supposed to cut the cure out of ellie's head. I hate that joel is dead, he is my favorite from the first game.     It was just as good as the first, certainly not an easy story to deal with, but just so incredibly well done. While I will certainly miss the character who was brutally killed, I think this one really sets up a powerful future game that will end this story as a trilogy.

    They said part 1 was about love and this one was about hate, but I think the real feeling in the end is that it is a study of empathy and forgiveness in a sort of backwards way.

    I have a feeling part 3 is going to focus on sacrifice.

    Anyway congratulations  to #naughtydog you made another masterpiece. The Last of Us 1 & 2 not only lived up to the hype for me but are definitely some of the best games I have ever played. I think their only real rival being the early Mass Effect games.    … Expand

    Easily the best graphics and animations today. Gameplay is fun, engaging and thrilling. The mechanics are very similar to the first game - quick menu, backpack inventory and crafting, upgrade benches, scavenging, but all is improved in a good way and is amazing to look at. Combat is challenging with extraordinary AI. Soundtrack and sound design are amazing. I feel the story overall is darker than the first one.

    There are some disappointments, I understand where the backlash comes from. I didn't like Abby all that much either and would welcome more space for Jesse and definitely Joel. I think Abby's part could have been made into a DLC and the main game could have been just Ellie.
    But man, did I enjoy Ellie's journey. It`s been a long time since I've felt so attached to the main character. Smiling, crying, yelling in horror as I witnessed all she's gone through. Flashbacks to the past were sweet and heartbreaking.

    Ellie is now a changed person, the trauma changed her and we can see her falling into an abyss of self destruction. It's dark and depressing. Despite everything she did and went through, she has doubts and regrets and feels way more human than Abby. I understand Abby's position, but her coldness combined with flashbacks that try to show her more humane part felt disconnected. Abby's crew is fine, despite what everyone is saying, but not particularly interesting. Although I still think the mission with pregnant Mel was stupid.

    The game is trying to convey a message that is difficult to accept and get over. I personally think it could have been done differently, but that's an opinion and I understand what the developers wanted to accomplish and they did it masterfully. This game is not for everyone, it's dark and mentally challenging. I understand why the fans are disappointed. I'm a big fan of the first game and even though I could see Part II done differently I rate games based on how they make me feel and engaged. The emotions were there in full power and that's why I rate it this high. Few games can do that.    … Expand

I dont care they killed of joel but they spent the rest of the game trying to get me to sympathize with abby who i didnt care for i barely know her i didnt want to know her and i felt they wanted to portray ellie as the bad guy. Also the main quest of the game is trying to get revenge on abby for killing joel but it doesnt even let you do that which makes the entire game pointless. I flat out hated the game after the ending. That being said, I tried to keep an open mind. When I got to the Abby part of the game I began her journey being like "This is okay, but whatever." By the end of her journey, however, I felt like they had fleshed out a character that I could feel and sympathize with and I found her section actually really interesting. Ending the game on Ellie is incredible, however, and the final scenes of the game are some of the most moving. If you have not played it the whole way through or kinda gave up on Abby, give it a fair shot and play to the end. At least to see how you feel.… Expand

Beautiful, poignant, and heartbreaking, this is a video game that takes us deep into the trenches of human violence and its costs—but in a way that doesn’t feel pretentious. 10/10.

    It is a strong story that touches feelings that are very deep and difficult to deal with. Its history is dense and makes you finish the thrilling game exhausted. It's such a good story, if not better than the first game, but, unlike the first, this story makes you anguished and sad.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
