    This game is amazing its a piece of art create to admire the history, graphics and the music just from thinking of this game gives me goosebumps. Everyone needs to play this game is incredible.

    I didn't think it was possible to make a better sequel than the first, but somehow they found a way. Improved in almost every area. I hated the story at first but slowly welcomed it. This is a true masterpiece, cant wait to play it again.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. English is not my first language, so please give me the benefit of the doubt, especially when discussing faith- and LGBTQ-issues.

    Every once in a while a person is in a position where they are able to create a cultural artefact that’s a quantum leap above everything else in that artform. It takes a lot of talent, hard work and resources, along with help from other people, but they’re able to create something lasting that brings the culture in which they work forward in a big way. I think Neil Druckmann is in that position, and The last of us (part 1) is one of those quantum leaping artefacts. It tells a story that’s engaging and challenging and wraps it in gameplay that’s equally engaging and challenging and leaves you in that place where good art can’t take you but great art can: emotional uproar, not just satisfaction.

    I think The Last of Us Part II is a great game, easily one of the best I’ve played, and a worthy sequel that builds upon the things that made the first game amazing and that also doesn’t shy away from trying to say something about the extremes of the human experience while still portraying things that are too often seen as extremes as completely un-dramatic. It is however a game of two parts: story and gameplay (and of course in many other ways too), and to me those two parts are not equally as impressive this time around.

    While the ending in the first game leaves you with an open question, namely whether you too would sacrifice mankind and your daughter’s love to save her life, this sequel leaves you with a much more closed statement, namely that vengeance leads to the destruction of yourself and of that which is dear to you. That’s at the same time more hopeful than the ending of part 1, since at least the characters end up learning something, but also less satisfying since it is a story we have been told many times before, and it doesn’t pull the rug out from under you in the same way. I felt like someone had simultaneously punched me in my stomach and made all other games into childish toys after finishing the first game, and after this I just felt tired and drained and a little bit frustrated. Not because I think the thesis of the game isn’t a valid one, nor because I think I could have done it better myself, but mostly because it has at least three too many endings, and a couple of narrative beats towards the end that felt superfluous to me.

    The gameplay part I really liked! It felt awesome to be a badass, both as Ellie and as Abby, and I liked how they made me play differently. Especially I liked how playing as Abby hade me take bigger risks and go in and out of stealth more than when playing as Ellie, where I felt like i failed if anyone saw me. I look forward to starting ng+ and take what I’ve learned from that into a new playthrough and bring a little more confidence.

    I didn’t have that much trouble getting through any encounter (except for the damned rat-king...), but I felt like that was because I was playing well and making smart choices about which enemy to go for next and in what way, and not because the game was easy.
    I liked making the infected attack my human enemies, but was expecting that kind of mixed encounters to be more frequent.
    I’m a bit ambivalent about the open world section. It really stands out as a great place to explore, but I kind of forgot about it quickly after it was over and it feels a little strange to have that “bubble” in an otherwise linear game. Although I can see how it is important to have a little bit of light, almost frothy, adventuring before descending into hell.

    I do understand that not everyone wants to have “politics” polluting their gaming experience, and I think that’s a fair point. If I, as a left wing, atheistic swede, played a game that forced me to burn down an abortion clinic, I would question its motives and why the creator felt the need to put that in there. I might even feel a great deal of animosity toward the people involved in making the game. That said, I loved the diversity in this game and how it was just presented as a matter of fact. Prejudices exist in this world, but the story isn’t about them, and in many ways the world has just moved on from them.
    Abby’s physique made me think that she was trans, I’ll admit. That misconception was reinforced many times for instance by dialogue, and I’ll even admit that I thought the position she and Owen chose when they had sex was a hint... That’s me being prejudiced and I’ll own up to it and be grateful that this game showed me that I have those prejudices.

    To summarize my feelings about this game I would say that it’s on the cusp of being great art, but absolutely one of the greatest games I’ve played.

    It's a fantastic game, the story is clever, perhaps to many and to long cuts scenes but in general it's brilliantly made and told. The ratings of zero should all be ignored, imagine how poor a game needs to be to justify that score, so play it and see to realise the user scores are just mob rule, or this group think because its the 'thing' to do.

    I really enjoyed the game! It emotionally challenged me, great game play and top notch graphics. It would have been a 10 if there wasnt some story pacing issues.

    Amazing follow up to the original title, the story was great and multiple viewpoints added to the depth. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the final acts really hit hard. I understand some of the criticism but none of it deserves negative scores it has. It takes a bit of critical thinking and extrapolation on the players part but it is an amazing story and narrative.

    Incredible, from the start to the end. The story was amazing, the scenarios, music, characters, stages... Everything seemed perfect to me. What people should consider is that this game is about revenge, redemption and a little bit of forgiveness. You can't expect it to be the same story that the part 1 had.     1. Hay más evolución en el personaje de Abby porque es un personaje nuevo y necesitan darle una gran trascendencia para que pueda rivalizar con Ellie en la historia y crear un escenario interesante
    2. Ellie "no evoluciona" tanto como Abby por lo primero y porque sólo al final "entiende que debía dejar a un lado su venganza" o se siente satisfecha con casi matar a Abby.
    3. Ellie no es que no "aprende" de la venganza, lo hace justo antes de matar a Abby. Abby gana y Ellie pierde, para mí. No logra matarla y Abby se va con su venganza cumplida. Ellie debió matarla y cumplir su venganza. Ese era su destino, lamentablemente igual que lamentables todas las matanzas en el juego. Yo creo que busca la venganza y la consigue pero está tan destruida y cansada que no logra concretarla y se detiene antes de matar a Abby porque con la paliza y la pelea ya ha llenado su deseo de venganza. El casi matarla le ha logrado llenar esa necesidad de redimir la muerte de Joel y decide en el último minuto, movida también por la pesadumbre de semejantes masacres en las que ha estado involucrada hace sólo poco tiempo, soltarla. Ya no va a buscarla pero la ha casi obtenido. No creo que crea en que debe detener su venganza y yo tampoco creo en detener una venganza así. Cuando te matan a un padre es ir a buscar al culpable hasta matarle y eso es lo que ha hecho Ellie, lo ha cumplido hasta el último segundo y ha parado sólo ahí, en un instante límite, y eso es lo que marca el trofeo "Hice lo que tenía que hacer" aunque eso le desolara, ese era su destino.
    4. No es un gran juego. Es un buen juego, si quieren hasta un muy buen juego pero no un gran juego. Es muy amarillista, usa mucho la violencia, es terriblemente e innecesariamente cruel con niños, embarazadas, perros. Es un pasquín de juego. Un juego así no puede ser un gran juego. Ni siquiera es disfrutable, es muy desagradable, solamente glorificado por quienes alaban ese nivel de violencia y la guardan dentro. Para las personas con mundo emocional normal este juego no es ni siquiera disfrutable, es un empalague y un sentimiento de contrariado constante, es muy agrio, y muy poco de él es realmente disfrutable. Para mí, no es ni un muy buen juego, sino uno bueno. 7, 7.5, y si estiramos un 8. Yo me quedo con el 7. El querer florear las cosas o dorar la píldora con "esto es un elemento distinto a las demás historias con el que han arriesgado mucho y eso tiene mérito" no me suma para divertirme ni disfrutar la historia, pavo, se lo digo en general al que piense en darle vueltas al juego analizando las cosas que puedan o no tener mérito que haya hecho distintas y por eso quiera subirle la nota al 10, que dejen de estar metidos en guerras de consolas, joder. Es como el jazz de los méritos gráficos de detallitos en los escenarios fotorealistas, son pajas mentales sin importancia. Este juego es como un trabajo malo, pesado, muy pesado. 7.

    Algunos Youtubers que son muy negativos con el juego en este caso tiene razón en varias cosas y en otras discrepo como decir que la historia es una basofia, no lo es, es buena, pero no es una gran cosa que podamos decir: concuerdo con ellos en que la música es casi inexistente, anti melódica y ambienta, pero lo hace de una forma muy tangencial y muy poco satisfactoria, casi genérica. Los efectos de sonido son bastante violentos, nada agradables, muy amarillistas.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the perfect combination of an excellent Hollywood movie with a fat budget with fun and flowing gameplay. The phenomenal writing will touch every player and won't leave an eye dry of tears. Combat and exploration are challenging and lead the player to use creativity and improvisation. A real masterpiece and a must-have for every PS4 owner

    My longest game session was twelve hours straight. I even dreamed of the game, woke up in the morning with the thought of wanting to plunge into this world again immediately. I was so captivated by The Last of Us Part 2. I have never experienced this in a video game in this intensity before.

    En el apartado de sonido es muy bueno, creo que es recomendable jugarlo con cascos. Graficamente es lo mejor que he visto en ps4 después del red dead 2.

    One of the best games i have ever played. To be frank this is an experience not only a game. Played it for 4 days 8 hours a day. After finishing it i felt ... emotionally exhausted. I sat with the controller in my hand for 20 minutes just thinking to what i have been put through. NO GAME EVER made me feel like this. It is an emotionally difficult game. But i think this was the point.One of the best games i have ever played. To be frank this is an experience not only a game. Played it for 4 days 8 hours a day. After finishing it i felt ... emotionally exhausted. I sat with the controller in my hand for 20 minutes just thinking to what i have been put through. NO GAME EVER made me feel like this.     I loved the first game and I love the second. Everything from graphics through to story and gameplay is truly unique and amazing. This game doesn't deserve the hate it has gotten, Naughty dog have made another ground breaking game. The Last of Us part 2 isn't my new favourite game but it is definitely the best I have ever played.

People you love disappear, leaders and those you trust let you down, and even the best get trapped by their own idea of what they "have" to do. I'm no expert on video games, (I'm bad at them actually, however I do love them) but the story and characters here prove video games are an art form. No doubt.

    It's pretty simple - both TLOU games are undoubtedly some of the best games ever made. If you think the story was poor, or there was no payoff or whatever, then you didn't understand it. You completely missed the message. Play it again and pay attention this time.

    The story is excellent. It's clearly more mature than many people can handle. If you can't handle adult content, stay away. If you're not overly sensitive or a big baby, then you'll understand you're experiencing something special. This game is clearly in the conversation of the most beautiful and engaging games of all time, along with the prequel. Ignore all of the bad reviews... I'mThe story is excellent.     I hope that those jumping on the review bombing bandwagon can look back in time and realize that the best way to experience a game and form an opinion is on your terms, not by reading others reviews and opinions first.

    That said, this game isn't perfect, but it's not horrible either. The art and animation are beautiful, and the gameplay is fun. Sound is solid. Faults are in the    I hope that those jumping on the review bombing bandwagon can look back in time and realize that the best way to experience a game and form an opinion is on your terms, not by reading others reviews and opinions first.

    That said, this game isn't perfect, but it's not horrible either. The art and animation are beautiful, and the gameplay is fun. Sound is solid. Faults are in the storytelling and pacing.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a masterpiece. I don't understand such a low user rating. It's really a top notch triple A game. Outstanding graphics and controls. Seemless transitions from gameplay to cutscenes, great cinematics and gameplay. It's a nice long beefy story. When you're really enjoying a game, you don't want it to end. This game satisfies in that regard. We take things for granted at times as far as gameplay, controls, transitions, etc. I'm now playing Ghost of Tsushima which is a fun game but TLOU2 is just a more polished experience. I think some folks are just never satisfied. I like Ghost of Tsushima but I have no idea how it could be rated higher than this game. It's one of the best ever made in my opinion. Naughty Dog is the best developer out there right now.

    My only gripe is that they killed Joel. I see how it sets the arc for the story but they could have done it another way besides killing him. They could have made it so he was badly beaten and Ellie set out for revenge and then incorporated him late in the game somehow after he'd recovered. Just one idea. I did feel like they were force feeding LGBTQ representation down our throat by not only consistently reminding us that Ellie is a lesbian but putting a transgender character in the game as well. Just seemed like it was forced and meanwhile they kill off the male lead in the beginning of the game. I think every fan of this game wanted some more time to play as Joel and that was a failure. I didn't have a problem with Ellie taking the lead but give us some Joel too!    … Expand

A bold narrative choice to play the story of the killer of a beloved main character will unsettle a lot of fans, but I found this to be unique and gripping. The story forces you to question what is right and wrong when the world goes into violent, apocalyptic chaos. Gameplay is the same model as the first but with many quality of life improvements. I found myself engrossed in this world once again caring about characters old and new. Honestly this game delivered emotion much more effectively than most movies I've seen in recent years. If you enjoyed the first, i highly reccomend you give this sequel a shot. Interpret the impressively cinematic story for yourself, don't let negative reviews prevent you from experiencing this ride completely.… Expand

    I put a grade 9 because of again **** up ending with a LOT of QUESTIONS, and because a few moments with main story between characters. I`ve played first part meybe 4 or 5 times. But this game, I`ll never play twice, because I don`t want to kill myself emotionally. So, I highly recommend this game to play, to normal people. Neil told us that he write this like an end of the story, but I think, fans will not give him an opportunity to leave it like that. I will dream about 3 part, and this EXACTLY should be THE LAST ONE.

    I love ellie and I love the last of us part 2 however playing with abby is something that I do not like at all and the end of ellie seemed very sad to be the last of us that could be the last, but I stay with him time and moments spent with playing with ellie and it is an unforgettable experience.

    An absolute masterpiece. Fantastic story and rewarding gameplay. You probably won't enjoy the story if you only enjoy straightforward simple narrative with black and white characters (and there is nothing wrong with that) so if that's your cup of tea don't expect much from the story. Definitely pick this game up and give it a go. Worth the money and might even make you think.

    Every bit as good as the first, and then some. I like a company that wants to do a bold and controversial story and not just stand pat with a sequel. If you have an open mind, you'll love this game's story. Brutally beautiful and horrifyingly terrific as the first, and the game play is even better than the original. Bravo, Naughty Dog, bravo.

    The story is very good, the music is the best I have ever heared in a video game.It would have deserved a 10 if not for the political aspect which naughtydog implemented, a pitty imo. Im pretty sure the 0-5 reviews are just people who like to rant, even though they didnt play the actual game.

I'm usually the sort of person to play through a whole game as fast as possible, but THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR THAT - if you want to process the point of the plot that is. Ultimately, this is a story about the terrible cycle of revenge and how it affects yourself and the people around you. We as players all seem to have successfully taken on the anger and vengeful emotions that the story tries to evoke in us, but haven't embraced the message the game is trying to portray - that we need to let these go.

    Outside of the plot, the gameplay is actually markedly improved compared to the first one, there are a number of small changes and details that make the game very satisfying to play. The game also has a brilliant soundtrack. There are new types of enemies to fight, with some new and old mechanics mixed in and this gives the game a fresh sort of challenge to navigate. The exploration is much nicer in this than the original, just in my own opinion.

    This game series has always been about highlighting some of the awful parts of humanity, mixed with both moments of tranquility and despair and honestly I think this game does continue those themes beautifully - if frustratingly, at first. I honestly reckon you should take the time to give it a shot, and take it at a pace where you won't be judging everything you see at first glance.    … Expand

    I don't know why the user score is so low, I know that this game isn't a legend, it isn't as good as was the first part, but I think this is a good game. The story arc is keeping you involved, even through some unexpectable moments that many people don't like. Graphics and gameplay is on really high level. The thing I don't really like is too much LGBT+ propaganda and I'm not a homophob. II don't know why the user score is so low, I know that this game isn't a legend, it isn't as good as was the first part, but I think this is a good game.     I truly don’t think most players understood the point of playing as multiple characters or the various identities of them. I guess most people like running around and killing things quickly without appreciating the details or plot. I thought this game was brilliant.

    Just like the first game, it feels like you are playing a movie with your controller. So many of your emotions will be played on during the 20 to 35 hours of intense gameplay. Neil druckman was not kidding when he said this game is about the vicious horrible cycle of violence, there is no real bad guys in the game, no right or wrong. Just violence, hate and revenge, but pieced together in a way you understand and see why it is happening between the different groups of people. It forces you to see the differnt points of view, and even tho you might not like certain characters in the game for the things they’ve done or the choices they make, after time you’ll come to understand fully why each character does the things they do, even if their actions are HORRIBLE,

    Well worth the wait, just as good if not better than the original. It's a shame it's been review-bombed by edgy teens who wanted a mindless bloodbath but this game's storyline is an emotional gutpunch will stick with you for a long time if you're actually capable of feeling any emotion other than hatred.

    As a person who can't handle horror themed content but loves a good story I have decided to watch others play this game and the one before it.

    We fell in love with Joel and Ellie in the first installment. When Joel killed all these people and rescued Ellie from death I felt relief but also knew that Joel just erased humanity's one shot to find a cure. He killed many people, including Abby's dad whom was the only person who could try and make a cure.

    At the beginning of the second game Joel is killed by Abby in front of Ellie, and it immediately makes us hate her guts.
    Then at the second half of the game we get to play as her again, get to hear her stories, see her past, her attachments to her dad (again, Joel killed him) and her friends that we just killed as Ellie. I don't know about you guys - but by the end of the game I just hoped they would stop trying to kill each other. They hurt each other enough. Even though I feel like I can't forgive Abby for what she had done I also feel like I no longer has a desire to see Ellie kills her.

    So when Ellie finally let go, I was relieved.

    The story did it's job by making me see the other side and eventually get off the revenge horse they had put me on in the first place.
    Abby's revenge ruined her relationships and got her friends killed.
    Ellie's revenge got Jesse killed and almost Dina, and might have ruined her relationship with her.
    So now it's time to let go and focus on the things that truly matters.

    I gave it an 8 out of 10 because it was not executed, in my opinion, in a way that was compelling enough to make you super invested in both Ellie's and Abby's stories. It's only around when they actually get to confront each other that it got interesting and intense. But their journeys for the most part was not as such.    … Expand

    Some may be upset that Joel did not die proudly and also that Abby was not killed. But this is not the whole story and it has much more important messages. Life is not just about revenge, and we may lose the good things in life by taking revenge. Revenge can have many consequences for us, of which we are unaware and when we lose our loved ones, we realize our actions (Abby lost her group and Owen , Ellie lost Jessy, and Dina left Ellie)    … Expand

    I think some of the handling of Ellie's transition from the theatre original enounter with Abby, to her farm life, to the return to her hunt would have been better. It felt the weakest part story wise , her PTSD wasn't very explored and I think the Tommy scene was clumbsy as a triggeru. It also suprised me as Tommy seemed more motivated when he did than originally after Joel's death..
    I would have liked to see more on the relationship with with Dina as well to flesh out this part of the story.    … Expand

    Some parts were really hard to play. I do not recommend rushing the game. Try to take breaks in between chapters. This is a masterfully crafted game with a gripping story that centers around a revenge plot that branches out in the most unexpected ways. The story challenges the player, with just not outstanding gameplay, but also understanding of themes like grief, trauma and forgiveness.

Overall it’s a great game. Is it better than the original? Yes and no. The story is more elaborate and is pretty compelling. A few slow moments but overall it tells a dark and interesting story.     This game has made a terrible year so much better. The characters are phenomenal, I felt such strong emotions towards every one of them. Even you know who. The narrative grips you for the entirety of the game. I didn't want to put my controller down at all.

    It has the most unique story line ever in a 3rd person game. If they didn't make the story as it is , its just probably one those linear games with linear narrative ! This is a masterpiece!

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
