    I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Of Us Part II. There were moments when I was worried the story was going places that would have been disappointing or narratively weak. However every decision and story beat was well thought out and made perfect sense. My only 2 complaints were the cutscenes being less frequent than I would have liked, and the presence of WLF Whitney being less frequent than II thoroughly enjoyed The Last Of Us Part II.     A game that provokes such a divided response to me proves that it is a masterpiece. Flawed characters struggling through a world that has never felt more real while feeling and seeing the impact of senseless violence. This is more of an experience and less of a game than the first part.

    Horrible, just horrible. Had great expectations from Naughty dog after the first game 'The last of us', that game was beautiful while this one in an abomination. I request everyone to not waste their prescious money and time on this game. This one only deserves to be called Worst game of the year.

    Definitely a controversial story. May be difficult for some people to really take in. Incredible gameplay and graphics. Another win for ND. When the dust has settled, this game will go down as one of the best in history.

The gameplay and visuals are amazing as expected from naughty dog, but the story leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that it brings my experience down so much. They make you want to like a character then make that character do very unlikable things. It sounds harsh for poor writing to bring a score down this much but the in the case of the last of us 2, it does.… Expand

    Great but dating story. Very interesting story arc and yet again very beautiful and detailed environments and maps.

    Love the new collectables and the feeling of more freedom while playing the story.

    This game is fantastic, I just finished it and all I can say is wow. There are a few glitches and I wish the pacing could be ironed out. But regardless this game is among one of the best I’ve ever played. The story will invoke plenty of emotions and will sometimes get on your nerves.     This is the most challenging game from a narrative and emotional standpoint that has been released this entire generation of games. If you only play one game this year make it last of us 2. Honestly all of the negative reviews I’ve seen seem to think of Joel as a good person, he wasn’t.     Best and incredible game I have played in long time and troy baker role as jole is breathtaking and show every bit of emotions making Joel as a real living character.

    Apart from this the infected AI was just great and when played in hard level it is worth playing agin.

    The story line not captivating and sorely lacks what the first game had to capture the players. The characters are bland and boring with one main character getting killed without and build up.     This game was the perfect sequel to a beautiful and yet brutal original. This game made me feel every emotion with such conviction and power. I laughed. I felt felt genuine fear and dread. And felt longing. I felt pain, frustration, insecurity, hopelessness, desperation, sadness, the list continues. But when this game was most powerful was when it made me cry. Yes, you read that correctly.This game was the perfect sequel to a beautiful and yet brutal original. This game made me feel every emotion with such conviction and power. I laughed. I felt felt genuine fear and dread. And felt longing. I felt pain, frustration, insecurity, hopelessness, desperation, sadness, the list continues. But when this game was most powerful was when it made me cry. Yes, you read that correctly. And yes, I like watching John Wick partly due to the high body count in each show. In this game however, each death carries weight and slowly chips away at your humanity and sanity. I’ve never felt so emotionally drained and exhausted after an hour long session, not really wanting to pick the controller back up. But I did. I kept pressing forward because the story and emotions felt from the characters are so deep and feel so incredibly real. I could not stop playing. Many have argued about the gritty content and perhaps even an ending they weren’t expecting or wanting but look at the world in which this game takes place. It’s not a pleasant, happy or fair world. It’s a world ravaged by a horrific virus that has stripped humanity down to its most raw and dangerous form. Anyone who expects the game to sunshine and butterflies with everything nicely gift wrapped is playing the wrong game. It’s a horrible world filled with even more horrible people. More so horrible, and in many cases, scarier than the actual infected population. With all of that being said this was the single greatest game I have ever played in my life. Every tear that fell from my eye was so powerful and carried meaning. This game is better than 99% of Hollywood movies that have ever existed. This game will make you think, laugh, cower in fear, grit your teeth in anger, and leave you ugly crying in the shower if you think about it too hard the next day. But it is worth every emotion and then some. Game of the year? Nah, game of the century.… Expand

I was so emotionally taxed when they killed off a main character, well one of THE main characters from the first game and in such a brutal way. But retrospectively that is what I like about the game. It makes you truly appreciate the story and the relationships the characters build. You want to keep playing to know what happens. You get to understand and learn why Abby and Ellie are who they are and do what they do. The game offers such a robust and broad gaming style that I found it enjoyable getting to experience the Last Of Us universe outside the world of just Ellie and Joel. I will miss Joel, but have a bittersweet appreciation for what the storytellers were trying to do for Ellie.… Expand

    I have been waiting for 7 years to play this and i have to say that when i started TLOU II, my first impresion wasn't the best as a first look. But the game and history started to flow, and that didn,t stop until the end. In terms of grafics and desing maybe there are parts in which RDR 2 can compete, although in action and cinematics is outstanding, it really feels like a movie (in theI have been waiting for 7 years to play this and i have to say that when i started TLOU II, my first impresion wasn't the best as a first look. But the game and history started to flow, and that didn,t stop until the end. In terms of gameplay the mechanics evolve (there are some really nice adds and improvement), is not a revolution but as I say before it is as perfect as playing a movie. Now we are gonna talk about the history, without spoilers. As i was playing the game i was really enjoying the history, the scenes, etc. I expect something really diferent, but i think that this story is amazing. The important thing i expect that will be main point in TLOU II history apears in the game, but is not based in that, and that's because this history is more complex, it talks about really diferent things and is more brutal than the first. I think is like you are watching Netflix and this game is one or two seasons of a serie. Some many things happends, some of them maybe more important but it could be the best story i have ever played in a videogame. When i finished and i saw opinions like it is a terrible history i couldn't believe it. I think that ND didn't want to do a history for everybody, maybe this history isn't for you, but if you enter in the flow of TLOU II, it will be one of yout best videogames experiences.… Expand

Naughty Dog has outdone themselves with immersing the player into their games and making you feel for their characters. The stealth encounters are on a new level of immersion and this became the most paranoia-inducing game I owned. The story is depressing the whole way through, you feel the frustration in Ellie and you continue to constantly power on but at what cost? The game is brutal and killing an enemy made me feel a way I never had towards computer A.I. telling you that you cannot pity anyone in this dog-eat-dog world. You find yourself rooting for both Ellie and Abby as they've experienced the same pain and it is the most painful experience during the end fight against each other. Peace of mind is a fictitious concept in this story and no one feels content before the game finishes, I grip on to what little amount of hope Ellie has when she leaves her home. Naughty Dog has done an incredible job on leaving players (who appreciate the story) with so much to think about weeks after they've finished the game and that's what I think they wished to accomplish with this new title.… Expand

I avoided all the leaked spoilers, negative criticism on the game so I can experience it for myself and make up my own judgement. However, I am disappointed with ND here’s why. I played the game and completed it in 4 days straight (do not recommend it) it took me on an up & down journey (Mostly down) from beginning to end, lots of flashbacks, confusing story, misleading trailers to get the fans to buy the game, no character development, or clear message, pointless tasks, uncharacteristic choices, no real care or connection to any of the new characters introduced, more than half the game you play as Abby to try and get us to understand and sympathize, when no one really wanted that.
    I can understand where the director was trying to take the story but it was done poorly, even someone with an open mind could see this. The characters they said they hold close and dear to their hearts & would do right by the fans they completely ruined. One thing I cant deny is the graphics are incredible, and the accessibility of game play. If only they had put more work into the story than they did for the visuals. No matter how beautiful the visuals are, it was hard to enjoy this game. At end of it, I felt mentally and physically distraught, no real accomplishment or impact from the game like it had in the first one.    … Expand

From the start, the story is gripping and has a far more complex, engaging structure than its predecessor. I won't spoil anything, of course, but TLOU2 is a treat from the first to the last minute. Some reviews on here and elsewhere are hard on the game for its social justice, LGBTQ themes (again no spoilers from me). Such bad press is unwarranted and unfortunate considering the genuine quality on display by the team at Naughty Dog. I'm pretty sure that some gay/transgender people would survive the apocalypse, and the population left around to deal with the infected would harbour some of the prejudices and presuppositions our society faces today. The game does a good job of demonstrating how existing issues survive the outbreak. Anyways...story is top-notch, and the performance by Ashley Johnson as Ellie is even better than before. TLOU2 will go down as one hell of a final hurrah for the PS4. I do hope there's a Part 3 on PS5, if, however, they can find a story as compelling as Part 2. If not, then Part 2 will be the finale of a terrific, very memorable series.… Expand

    While I've never been a fan of the gameplay in the last of us games, the gameplay feels greatly improved and the story while a hard pill to swallow is great. This game is great, I honestly don't know where the hate toward this game comes from. While there are small problems with the game I still believe it is a fun and enjoyable experience.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me say that I didn't see any spoilers/leaks before my play through and did not watch any reviews on the game until i finished it. Now the gameplay in my opinion is very very smooth and only gets boring for me at the end of the game, when you get to play as Ellie again. My high points were fighting the rat king as abby, the car scene with Jesse and the Chase scene with Dina on the end of the first day. Now to the people out there that are hating on the game, half the people I hear complaining about it have not even played the game and just see how everyone is hating on it and watches one review and then says its a bad game. NO STOP IT, play the game, and then have your opinion. Now my honest thoughts on the game, I loved it, and thats enough. The ending wasnt unfullfilling, if you were expecting the story to go the way you wanted/expected thats just wrong to think that way. Just because Joel died doesn't make it a bad game, his death wasn't handled porely, he for the past 4 years has been trying to become a better person, so is everyone at tommy's place as shown through letters, also having us play as Abby was fine, we were so set on hating her for killing joel as we all had that connection with Joel but if we are able to keep an open mind we see how horrible his actions really were and that they did have to bit him in the back at some point. The story was all that it needed to be, and thats all that it was, a story. Now please be respected to your own opinion and don't let people steer your opinion to something its not. Just because I loved this game doesn't mean you have too, but just because alot of people hate it doesn't mean you do as well.… Expand

    Story is awful and awkward, do not want to throw spoilers but believe me, story doesn't make any sense regarding the characters we know from TLOU in the events that unfolds here, also new characters are just swallow except by the antagonist (villain?), Abby, but man, you won't like this character, not because she has such muscles or she is vile, nope, you won't like her because her story in TLOU 2 is just absurd as it unfolds, at beginning make some sense, but then it's just inconsistent, same goes for Ellie.
    Game at first glance is shocking but as it unwinds some things becomes obvious and other plains simple doesn't make any sense. Abby character is affected by a kind of what I call Kylo Ren syndrome, SW fans will get it.

    Gameplay mechanics and Art is 10.
    Story is barely a 3.
    Screwing TLOU saga in the second part (Who knows?), 0.
    I'm not averaging here, overall for me is 6. You must play it if you like TLOU but most probably you will get disappointed after the end and not wanting a third part, for me TLOU ended in the first game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 'The Last of Us Part II' has come a long way from its original game, however I was left with a distasteful ending and shallow story arc. The main theme of the story was the plain old theme that seeking revenge is bad. Many aspects of this theme were not fully flushed out and gapping plot holes missing. Furthermore, the structure of the story was just abysmal. It feels like this game was rushed and realised there were some aspects that made no sense, thus the developers added flashbacks to cover it up, adding to the confusion felt by gamers. While Neil Druckmann’s vision was for gamers to feel sorry for Abby. All I felt was hatred and anger as I only saw Abby as a cold murderer with no remorse. And any action or story to try show the better side of Abby did not budge my opinion about her. This failure was due to the chronological order of the story being a hot pile of mess. It would make more sense if theoretically I played as Abby in the first half of the game so I could see what type of character she is. But this still won’t prevent poor character development in Abby. This is scene where Abby is about to kill Dina when Ellie says she is pregnant. But this remark does not stop Abby to kill Dina and responds with “Good” with a psychopathic smile. In addition, the underdeveleopment of some new characters left much to be desired.

    I will give credit to the graphics and better level design in this game. Some sceneries such as Day 1 in Seattle lets you roam around the city at your own will and pace. However, as you progress in the game, the developers trap you in a linear level progression which was disappointing considering how far the game development has come. Gameplay is a hit or miss for some people, as a gamer who loved the original combat and shooting mechanics from the original game, I was somewhat disappointed in the range of motion you can complete. But after playing 18 hours of the game it felt like repetitive gory action of murdering everyone who stands in your way for revenge. There are small puzzles to change the dynamic of the game but, their impact was very minor. There are also nudity and sexual moments that didn’t have to be included. The finale is probably the most emotionless part of the movie. Logic and common sense is thrown out the window. By the end I did not care for any of the characters, the story did not evoke any emotion in me.

    This was a garbage fire, short and simple. It should not be even considered as a part 2 of the game. Take in mind they took 7 YEARS to develop this game and to refine it. At least the first game had an over arching theme was hope, and “finding something to fight for”. The deceitful tactics and misleading marketing made you think that you would play with Joel and Ellie for majority of the run time. But this was not true as I played the game. Honestly I would wait for this game to go on sale if you guys still want to play the game. If you really want to play it now, might as well just rent it from EB Games or something. Save your 70 quid on something else.    … Expand

    This was a great game. Took me roughly 30hours. The combat felt so good and the sound was amazing. As well as the levels environment and atmosphere is superb. However I find the first game personally more favourable. Despite it now being outdated. The plot for The Last Of Us Part II is good but a lot of downsides many people can relate to. I cannot help but keep comparing it to the first game. Once you get to the menu. Nothing. Just a boat resting on water. And during cutscenes it doesn’t have the same impact as when we watched Henry and Sams death or many other emotional scenes from the first game. Those moments is what stuck in people’s mind but this game didn’t give me that. I could just sit at the menu for the first game with the background music playing it was perfect. Some reason they didn’t go this far for the sequel. Disappointing. Would I play again? After platinuming the game on a second play through. I cannot see playing this game again.     I think all the hate is overblown and unwarranted. You may not be fond of the story and I understand. But from my play-through, the gameplay and combat was fantastic. i liked the story and they really didn't meant to be sympathetic to abby, they just wanted you to understand from another perspective, and I did. One of the best games of 2020 in my honest opinion.

    As a fan of the original, I am very much liking this one as well. Everything I loved about the first game is present here. These are some of the most beautiful, most detailed environments I’ve ever seen in a video game. The performance capture and writing is excellent, and the story swings between brutal lows and genuinely sweet highs.

Ellie went through hell and back to kill Abbey and doesn't go through with it at the end? Unlikely, based off of everything that transpired in the game. They may of had a vision and I respect that, but did not enjoy the last part of the game.

    I enjoyed this game, from the beautiful world to the intense and brutal fights. This game captures you completely and keeps you playing. Its one of the greats. Its a sad and gut punching story. And obviously not for anyone who worships Disney endings. But a great story at that.

    Stupid story line. Character build is poor at best. And the mechanics are not smooth, it's like a wanna be TR but not as believable. I gave a 1 because the graphics were pretty good. But very unsatisfied with the game as a whole.

    Vamos ser honestos, entre vocês que odeiam e amam este game, a história vacila em muitos momentos, falando de experiência própria, em muitos momentos eu não sabia se continuar a vingança seria algo bom ou ruim (claro que seria ruim), mas para ambos os lados (Abby e Ellie) fora tomadas razõess diferentes, como posso defender as razões de Abby ao matar Joel, mas condenar o desfecho de Ellie como " ela é a culpada por querer vingança".
    Erros no roteiro são comuns mas Joel se "entregar" a estranhos sua identidade fora muito esquisito par a engolir, a Redenção de Abby com certeza foi a melhor do jogo assim como a personagem também é a melhor, o que sentimos ao controla-la é o mais puro ódio até entremos suas semelhanças com o falecido Joel (dois personagens que foram cruéis por uma vida inteira até encontrarem uma razão para viver , e assim defende-la até o fim de suas vidas).
    Mas o Final é o que resume a confusão geral e a má construção da historia do game, imagine que vc acorda e bate o pé na quina da sua cama, você não respira, conta até três e sai andando, VOCE XINGA DEUS E O MUNDO PARA ALIVIAR SUA DOR, afinal o ódio faz parte vida assim como o amor, agora imagine-se no lugar da Ellie( personagem querida), e no lugar da quina da cama vc tem um mundo pós apocalíptico cruel e injusto cheio psicopatas , fanáticos e criaturas malditas, matam sua figura paterna de maneira brutal, quase assassinam seu "tio", quase matam o amor da sua vida, destroem sua vida, e no momento em que seu ódio está a flor da pele ainda lhe arrancam dois/três dedos da sua mão na dentada e tudo que você faz é "vá embora". É humanamente impossível o desfecho deste jogo, o perdão nesta realidade é falso e inexistente, e mesmo assim ele acontece com dizer saúde, após alguém espirrar.
    Enfim, o jogo é facilmente um 7/10, inovador e incrível de ser jogado, mas peça em parte de seu principal fator - história.

    The downside is that this is a narrative driven game, we aren't here for the gameplay or the graphics, we are here for the story.
    Joel dying was understandable, I honestly expected the cult to play more into Ellie's story judging by the pre-release material. Via that I expected Joel to give his life for Ellie. His death was grossly done, the revenge plot poorly handled. You spend far too much time playing as Abby. Looking into her past and a little of the life as a Wolf would have been fine, however, half the game was a bit much.
    Characterwise, Jessie and Dina were wasted slots. Jessie existed literally only as a means to get pregnant just so that Dina could have a child. Dina's relationship with Ellie was sad as well. Their first two amorous moments are under the influence of alcohol and weed. Not the best way to start a relationship. I feel like Dina would have had more impact if she was a steady girlfriend to Ellie instead of a fling.
    Her anger at Ellie leaving was honestly inconsiderate, Ellie is having PTSD, and struggling. Instead of allowing her closure, she tries to emotionally manipulate Ellie to stay, further hurting her. I was glad to see Dina gone, and not surprised by Jessie's death.
    Abby, **** Abby. If we were supposed to sympathize with her, they failed. Her section dragged, it only proved further that all she enjoyed was killing.
    Ellie's vengeance took a toll on her, she hurt each time she killed them. She looked sick. She wanted it to be over.
    Abby just killed and barring the two people she spared from the seraphites, just kept killing without remorse. Cultists, Her own people, and Ellie's group. She had no care in how many lives she took, no remorse. She **** her Ex despite him having a pregnant girlfriend. They were all awful. I wanted them all dead.
    Not killing Abby in the end, just was the icing on top. I feel like you should have had a choice. Kill Abby or don't. If you spare her, you get a better ending. A vengeance ending may leave the player personally satisfied, but perhaps give Ellie a worse ending, such as Dina leaving.

    Joel's death could have been more impactful. If it had happened mid game, we would have had more feelings for it, instead of just anger. Example, if we had the characterization that Joel and Tommy had to be cautious like they were in the first game, perhaps Abby and her group could have tried to earn their trust by helping them clear out the swarm of infected where Abby was found
    Speaking of, why was that not tied up. It was such a loose end and it bothers me personally.

Games, movies and entertainment allow suspension of disbelief, because the audience just wants to have a good time. It doesn't matter what the story is about - aliens, mutants, whatever. It is unfortunate, that the "powers that be", choose to sacrifice a franchise for their political motivations.

    A interactive misery simulator that holds up to the previous title, and then breaks through the barriers of current AAA games. Only to be review bombed by people that never experienced the full game. A testiment to the future of storytelling and what video games strive to be.

    I felt the story of the game as an insult to my intelligence. I also felt horrible while playing most of the game, just because of where the director decided to take this story.
    Gameplay-wise, it's excellent. The music and sound delivery is also incredible. I get that art is subjective so maybe this story isn’t for everyone BUT for me personally this game was incredible. Like most I HATED Abby for what she did but once you find out her reasoning it seemed justified. The game is dark and twisted and you have to know that going into it. There are some fair criticism to the game and some that are not fair at all. This game worked for me. The story. How it was told. The ending. The characters all set the bar high for me. If you’re a fan of the first one like I am play this one. You won’t regret it.… Expand

    As a video game is great, excellent graphics, gameplay and scenarios. But I can't separate it from its story, which is bad; and I think it messes up the half part of the game.

    Part II cements this franchise as one of the greatest in gaming through it's story alone and by enhancing pivitol events of it's successor. The rationships and intertwining stories among these characters is a rollercoaster of emotions unlike any other. The overall story is a devestating yet beautiful tale of loss that continues to haunt me weeks after completion. The gameplay is visceralPart II cements this franchise as one of the greatest in gaming through it's story alone and by enhancing pivitol events of it's successor.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
