    Having just completed the game, there isn’t much more I can add. It’s just a bad sequel. Not only because of the many, many story issues, but the gameplay hasn’t really evolved from the first game. Obviously, a lot of effort was put in making this game accessible, inclusive and appealing to a broad audience.     There were some stand out moments and some intense gameplay, but they were few and far between and nothing better than the first game. Also, it was boring. I found myself looking at my phone during cutscenes, I never did this during the first game because I was engaged with the characters. I did not care about the characters in TLOU2. In fact, I did not like them, even characters from the first game I had grown attached to, I now disliked.

    Also, very concerning this game has received so many ‘masterpiece’ reviews when there is obviously a lot of issues that any critic would recognise, let alone professional game reviewers.

    I give this game a 5 because of the sheer technical achievement, which cannot be ignored.    … Expand

    Production qualities are unrivalled, from graphics, music, voice acting and tone. Just because things happen in the story that people don’t like, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good story. A more than worthy sequel that will leave its mark on you. I think people who don’t get it, lacks little emotional maturity,    Top marks from me.

I was indifferent about playing as the person that killed Joel, but as you go through the story and learn about Abby's background, you can't help but empathise with her and come to like her.

    My only gripe, and why I gave it one less than perfect, is a positive for most people; as a casual gamer, the length of the game was on the long side for me.    … Expand

    This game really moved me emotionally. I love the story and was able to empathize with all the main characters. The gameplay and graphics are amazing as well. But what amazed me the most is the attention to detail the developers have put into this game. I have finished this game two weeks ago and can't stop thinking about it.

Ellie is basically a serial killer, but cant kill Abbie (another psycho). So why Abby didn't kill her either? This game is just messed up...… Expand

    I really loved the direction they took the story. It was a totally unseen approach with some amazing writing. Truly on of the best in gaming stories. I might even say on par or even better than the first. The ending came together very well that it grabbed me and my friends on an emotional level.

También quiero aclarar que Ellie es capaz de llevar la historia por sí sola y la vuelve un personaje muy interesante en el género. Pero aquí viene su mayor problema: LA HISTORIA. Más allá de su gameplay el cual por eso le otorgo un 7/10 al titulo, pues al fin y al cabo es divertido y no decepciona en ese aspecto, la historia es lo que caracterizó la primera parte de TLOU y por la cual los jugadores tanto de PS4 como los de otras plataformas se enamoraron. Aquí nos dan una historia redundante y pretenciosa, donde el virus deja de ser relevante por ponernos en un drama y fan fiction juvenil llenos de tramas y motivaciones de los personajes que se sienten más allá de vacíos, confusos. La introducción de Abby, aunque fuerte, se desmorona rápidamente al frenar el ritmo del juego poniéndonos literalmente en sus zapatos y rellenar un tramo de la historia que en sí es bastante simple y alarga el juego artificialmente pues este termina siendo redundante y hasta cierto punto, aburrido. No decide por qué camino llevar a los protagonistas y mucho menos a Ellie, la cual deja en una conclusión insatisfactoria y que no comprende el legado que supuso el primer juego. Sin embargo tiene momentos intensos y se nota la bienintencionada enseñanza del guion pero que tristemente no lo logra. A pesar de eso es un titulo que es disfrutable pero no llena los grandes zapatos que dejaron aquel hombre de excepcional barba y su hija espiritual.… Expand

    Tries way to hard and ends up succeeding at nothing. If this was the first game in there series the franchise would of been doomed to a niche audience. You'd probably enjoy watching the movie "Cats" for 25 hours more than playing this game. If you still want to know the story I'd say wait till a YouTuber puts the whole gameplay up and watch it there. It'll be free and more manageable then. Enjoy.

Gameplay 10/10, it’s a shame there’s no multiplayer because the level design is so good. Story 9/10. Yes it was sad to see Joel go so early in the game but his story was done and over with. I was conflicted playing as Abby, I wanted that girl to DIE then I started to like her, then I began to like her more than Ellie. The flashbacks and time spent with Joel were such a great change of pace. The supporting characters while not amazing were all good to great. I like that the story was more mature and made you think. I was happy Ellie and Abby had a bitter sweet ending and were able to spare what little they had left. The people mad about the diversity and LGBTEtc in the game need to STFU.… Expand

    So after playing this I thought about it for a long time compared to other games. It really stuck with me. The message it sends is simple. But the way it does it is wild. There has never been storytelling like this in games. It forces your perspective. It makes you try and understand why people do what they do and what happens because of their actions.     The OMG, WTF moments continue and they're great! Just like The Walking Dead, there's some deaths that are shocking and sad, but that's the story and I personally liked it.

The game isn’t fun in any traditional sense due to the ethical, philosophical, and emotionally challenging story. That doesn’t mean the gameplay or mechanics are bad. Far from it. You simply can’t escape the story. Wiping out a herd of infected, a squad of WLF, or a group of Seraphites is in itself rewarding. Naughty Dog improved literally every aspect of the mechanics when it comes to combat, movement, stealth, and every other imaginable gameplay element. But all those improvements come at a cost for the characters and you often manage to do something fun and amazing then are immediately faced with the moral ramifications of your actions. I believe this is a game everyone should play and one that I sincerely hope challenges those players more when they put their controller down then while they have it in their hands.… Expand

    It´s definitely a masterpiece... Anyone not giving it a 10 or giving a bad review didn´t play the entire game. I get why some people might be upset with that special thing at the beginning but it totally doesnt ruin the game. Loved it. Haters gonna hate.

    Liked the game the first half, but than i played only for the cliffhanger, was bored and had no fun.

    Ok, I know a lot of people talked about how AWFUL the story is, but I liked it??? It’s not a “political” game, and the only problem I really had with it was the pacing, which felt kinda clunky and was a little too long. Gameplay and visuals are amazing, a really fun experience.

    Best story. Unlike the last of us 1 , the characters here had more depth. I know people are hating this , most of these haters are the ones who only like Happy endings. These people probably wanted Ellie and Joel ride into the sunset holding hands. But in reality it isn't possible. The story shows us how far Revenge can take a person.

The trailers lied to the players, giving an idea Joel would still be alive, shame on the game company for doing that. The game showed flashbacks which in a better light, telling the story of the first game in a total different way. The game has some strange things happening, like an eight month pregant going to battlefield and squeezing her belly on the floor. The game is sad and depressing which could work but releasing this type of game during an actual pandemic is really unfortunate and bad timing.

    I didn't care when/how Joel died and what happened with the story, it was the points above who made me dislike the game    … Expand

    The most fully realized piece of art in the medium-- beautiful/grotesque illustration of the genesis of conflict/moral dilemma. If you don't like the game, it's because you want a story in which a highly skilled man overcomes unbelievable odds by sheer force of will, i.e., every other video game that's ever been written.

    O jogo é simplesmente incrível seja em qualidade técnica quanto de narrativa, é bem ousada o que é algo extremante bom nos dias de hoje onde os jogos seguem padrões já bastante batidos. É um daqueles jogos que saem um a cada geração. Incrível.

    I really thing its a 9.3 but have to give a 10 due to the **** show. Game may be hard to swallow as a fan but if you look at the messages of this game, there is some appreciation. Gameplay is awesome due to th more open level design and smart ai when you play survivor.wish the game had a more stronger cast.

Honestly I can't believe the game is written by the same people. I'll admit the gameplay is cool and it's a gorgeous game but what made the first game so special THE AMAZING STORY is totally lacking in this game.     Masterpiece!!!! beautiful in everything ... graphics, history, music and fighting mode are carefully developed, it puts you in the place where you never thought you would be and makes you see things from another perspective. At first I hated X character but by finishing the story and playing a second time I came to love them

This is the first review I’m putting on a game because I feel that this game is getting too much love and too much hate at the same time, as someone who watches anime and movies everyday I feel that I have a pretty good view when it comes to character development and what would drive a character to do certain things. With the death of everyone’s, including myself, Joel the game feels like it was over and there was no point in continuing. I kept going out of respect for the creators at Naughty Dog and I’ve been getting platinum trophies for all my recent games. As the game went on I could only think about what the ending would bring because no matter what I always held a grudge against Abby, but I understood her reason for doing what she did, which Is what I would like to believe was the intended point, rather than loving the character after everything you just understand why she did it. The same Joel’s decision at the end of the first game. It wasn’t morally right but you understood why. Ellie has so much pent up anger, pain and confusion that it was easy to understand how she could slowly become a revenge driven maniac who kills everyone in her way. You may dislike her but it’s true to human nature. You get to watch as both characters develop into different people with Abby wanting to become a better person and wanting a life with Lev. Ellie has so much turmoil over wether or not she should’ve killed Abby but in the end she couldn’t bring herself down to that level any longer. The story and it’s development, while not the best, is still better than your average game, the gameplay is phenomenal much like the first game.     WOW, everything still looks the same. This game just comes down to character development , story and emotions. I just did not see it in this game, how i saw it on part one. If you want to take out a legend/lovable character in the game you do it by story telling. Its like pretending it to be a Metal Gear Game and solid snake is dead early in the game..     Story - It was terrible. Joel gets killed at the beginning by Abby. I'm not upset about that as that helped me connect with Ellie again and want revenge!! But as I was well on my way in doing so, the creators felt I might want to know Abby's side of the story. I have to say, I couldn't have cared less about that at all. I wanted to kill her because of what she did. By the time I was returned to playing Ellie, I wanted to break the game. I was disconnected from her. It didn't feel like the game I started playing when I first loaded it. Feelings aside, Abby's story was interesting but it should have been made into an optional DLC rather than an interruption in the game. The LGBTQ pandering didn't help the cause either as it made no logical sense to inject the story with it other than to cater to the "woke" leftist mob (had to get the political stuff off my chest).

    Overall, the creators did a terrible job with the story. The break from Ellie and Joel to the forced story of Abby was the wrong choice. I can't think of a worse thing to do than to interrupt the story of the characters everyone bought the game for to play a character no one knows and who I personally didn't like (in the main story). She should have been a DLC storyline.    … Expand

The game becomes a chore due to this. I did not enjoy playing this game. I finished the game for the sake of finishing it. I would never replay this game as I did with the first game. The story is awful. The art of story telling is so important to me as a gamer. The bond between the characters and the consumer/user is broken and flushed down the toilet. I doubt I will purchase another game made by naughty dog ever again.… Expand

    This is the best game I have ever played and that's saying a lot. I'm an avid gamer but The Last of Us II breaks the mold and pushes gaming into the future. With all of the hype I was prepared to be disappointed but, to my great and pleasant surprise, it was a better game than I ever could have hoped. Thank you, Naughty Dog, for leading the way and showing other game developers how it's done.

The writing is grippingly intricate and poignant; presenting a deep look into the lives, humanities and motivations of a diverse cast of characters struggling to survive and to do what they think is right. There were parts in this game especially that i felt was unnecessary. And killing off Joel at the beginning just left a sour taste. Best parts were the cut scenes of the past whem they show ellie with joel but it kinda took away from The story. At the end when we let abby go and we return to the farm house it was nice but i feel like it was just too ehh. But the last cut scene with joel was what hit the most and made me give this game anything above a 5.… Expand

    I've only finished the game a month after its release and I'm blown away. Since the end of the first game I always wondered which consequences awaited our beloved Joel and I honestly you've hated if he faced none, no matter how much he meant for gamers.
    The idea of making us play with the game's "antagonist" was brilliant. By the end of it I can say that Abby and her crew were my favourite part of the game. The writing and cast storytelling it's nothing but perfection. People like me who get to watch a lot of movies, read a lot of books and of course, play as many games as you can, we get to a point where a generic storytelling can ruin the whole experience. This game it's a step above, it's one of those that haters will look at in 10 years time and wish they weren't that stupid, same today we know about the hate The Empire Strikes Back faced on its release, and many other examples.
    The creators managed to create a 30+ memorable cast, locations and sequences. They all look simple and straightforward, complex but not complicated, the right mix to make something unforgettable.
    I haven't even mentioned the game itself, it's mechanics. It has the best "awareness indicator" I've seen to date. You can customise it to your liking. I personally had the game's main core on survivor but my allies on very light, which made them very helpful. I played the game the way I wanted.
    I have 2 complaints ; firstly, your character tends to get into areas where they don't know if there's an exit. And secondly, in some wide areas, enemies there are just over a fence fail the listen the gunshots from your current battle, that's all I have to complain about the game.    … Expand

    This game is a piece of art. It's sad to see so many small-minded people get angry for certain plot points or the fact that women play a large role in this game. Gender or sexuality is not important, but the fact that the game is awesome is all that matters. Great continuation of the first game, truly a masterpiece.

    This game is really amazing but is not fun to play. It is heartbraking and emotionally deep experience. You really get to feel what ellie feels. I am hoping for a part 3 where ellie will finally find peace hopefully.

Good mechanics, game-play, music and graphics which is why it got a one. But oh the story. No choices, railroaded into a path regardless of player desire. I understand wanting to show and teach with games but this wasn't that. This was not a lesson in anything other than hopelessness and getting trapped in a path and not being able to change from it. The so called lesson? That violence and revenge cost you everything in the end. True. No one has to play video games to know that. That humans suck? Yeah, I think we all know that at this point. I do not play games to experience the ugliness of life. Games for me are a place to explore and escape. Not to be beaten with the ugliness that already is. What is the point of playing a game that is no different that what is on the TV or out my front door? 2020 is hard enough as it is. Shame on you Naughty Dogs.… Expand

Graphics Look Next gen.Sound effects sounded true and brutal.Gustavo songs far and few.my favorite songs came from all of ellies guitar playing,the song that joel plays for her in the beginning of the game.ND has found a great way of using the swipe bar on the PS4 controller allowing you to play guitar.The combat the same as the first game and is frustrating at times.the melee system is kinda clunky,the shooting is very slow and inaccurate.If anything i feel the prone button came in way more useful then the jump and they should have hyped that up more because it was extremely useful and long overdue feature that was finally added.The dogs was a very bad choice in my opinion.Now the story.The first half playing as ellie was more or less fine.The joel death scene in particular should have been done a different way if he wanted to do that story.First off joel and tommy save abby and within 5min of gametime i think it was shes blowing his leg off and playing golf on his head.That specific part felt rushed, and not fleshed out.It was also out of character for tommy and joel to just reveal their base along with their names .The flashbacks in my eyes stole the show and really hit an emotional beat.My issue with this is they were far and few between.The first one in particular was sweet and a feel good sad moment for the player.So for ellies side of the game neil wanted to convey that she wants revenge for joel but it becomes pretty clear that is not the only thing that is bugging her.Throughout the flashbacks you find out that she is beyond upset with joel and finds out he lied about the hospital incident.So all the time your playing as ellie you slowly see her get worst and worst descending into darkness.They honestly could have just done ellies side up until she hunted down abby and exacted revenge. I felt the game did not need much of abbys side story at all.You could have just told her story via cutscenes throughout ellies trip to finding ellie.I did not enjoy playing as abby at all once i was forced too.As i got more into the cult part with lev i did take a tiny bit of interest but nothing huge.To me abbys section of the game felt almost like another game entirely.You find out that lucy(lev) was actually the trans player people were referring too.I dont think there was an agenda here.Lev becoming trans fit into the story of the seraphites not accepting him and hunting him down.So i dont feel that trans was forced into the game.i feel like ellies relationship felt true and honest,my only complaint is that ND chose to focus on fleshing out an unlikable character abby instead of a likeable character dina.I think the story would have been alot better exploring ellies and dinas relationship further as ellie slowly loses her mind to hate.Most of the charachters on abbys side i hated.Owen had good character ark and is the only one outside of yara and lev that i actually felt somewhat invested in.Now the ending parts of the game.You are forced to fight ellie as abby after she just killed jesse and what appeared to be a gunshot to tommys head.Trying to recreate that father/daughter relationship joel had just annoyed me and made me dislike abby more.no fault to laura bailey did a very good job and trying to make abby relatable and have empathy for.Then they show ellie back on the farm with dina.Tommy gives ellie all this info and wants her to finish abby.She doesnt think she can and tommy just starts hating on her because of it saying stuff way out of line.Whether its grief that he had or brain damage thats causing him to act like that it defintely does not feel true.the ending scene with abby and ellie fighting it out.The scene it self was well done.Sadly it ends with ellies 2 fingers getting bitten off and then letting abby just leave.This felt unsatisfied and pretty much made me question why this game was made even in the first place. If he was going to do that then he needed to spend more time emphasizing ellies departure into the darkness and how she just cant let the hate go instead of a side story about abby's fight with the seraphites.The ending scene when she arrives back to dina and the house is empty was pretty sad and did a good job emotionally but there was so much more room to emphasize with ellie they could have done to really bring a tear to your eye.I only got teary eyed during the final scene with joel and ellie talking about she just cant forgive him.This scene needed more because it was on the verge of being really emotional but its like the writers just decided to hold back.just an ok game and makes me sad that they chose to flesh out abby rather then focus on the true stars of the game joel and ellie.The game would have benefited more from flashbacks showing more of the anger she slowly kept getting towards joel finally leading up to an emotional ending scene where she finally tries to forgive him.Hell it would have been even better to have tommy give ellie a final letter from joel.     Best game to Playstation so far i've ever played in a long long time. Naughty Dog have really gotten this game in top shape for release. No bugs at all! Storyline, emotions, action, sneaky and scary gore moments. Triggers alot. Recommended!!
