    Ignore the thousands of entitled losers who rated this game zero in the first few hours after release and therefore didn't actually have time to play.

    I've finished the game and in my opinion I have to say this game is a masterpiece. I thought the first game was the best game ever, now I think it's this game.

    Not having read the spoilers before playing, I must say this is a story with some questionable character motivations.

    That said, I think ND must be commended for taking the risk and took the characters down a (dark) path that they knew would be polarising. Score actually a 7 because it’s not a perfect game and leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. However it doesn’t deserve a 4.5 so    Not having read the spoilers before playing, I must say this is a story with some questionable character motivations.

    This game was incredible. I was definitely hesitant at part and didn’t know if I would like the decisions they were making, but naughty dog has created something that is incredibly powerful and amazing.

    I'm just here to laugh at gamers. I haven't played the game but I've gotten all the entertainment I need out of their ridiculously bad takes.

    How dare they kill off a main character? How dare they have moral ambiguity? How dare woman not make pp hard?

    I sure am glad no game has ever made these mistakes before!

    I understand some of the hate this game is getting because it’s a very polarizing story. However, for me, it tested my capacity for understanding and empathy in ways that no other medium can. It sucks that not only is this the unpopular opinion, but people get chastised for their opinion of a video game. If you played the game and hated it, that’s fine. Personally though, I loved it.

    Good graphics, amazing characters, interesting music. There's a few things (like trying to play the guitar) that didn't necessarily help with the immersive experience, but the story was so amazing! I loved every minute of it.

    I think people came in with a preconceived notion about how the game was going to be and it was different than what they wantedit to be. I loved it and loved the ending.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An amazing meditation on life and loss and the things we do to protect our values and the people we care for. Also an awesome gameplay experience full of unique moments and some intensely beautiful craftsmanship.
    A fantastic game about the cycles of violence and how we attempt to free ourselves from resent and hate. Deeply emotional, tough to play in moments.

    Something to note is the unique way the game makes you question who exactly you want to be rooting for, between Abby, Ellie, or even Joel. Indeed, in my experience, I questioned how much of his actions were truly justifiable in the first game, how it affected the characters in this game, and if by the end of it if I truly had much empathy left for him.
    Even Abby, whom commits that shocking scene early on in the game, turned out to be a like-able, enjoyable character full of complex emotions and intriguing motivations.
    I have to say that I eventually came to despise Ellie just a little bit, which was no small feat on the developer's side.
    This is a game that is occasionally hard to swallow because of the situations it puts you in, wherein you feel positively unwilling to continue on with your acts, which is partially why I suspect so many people have negative feelings towards it. I say that if a game could actively make me root for someone I thought I wanted to kill off early on, it has truly achieved something special.
    There is this idea that a piece of media has to be comfortable to be a masterpiece, but I think this game has absolutely shattered that concept, becoming a true example of video game art.

    It's a game I don't think I could come back to for maybe a year or more, because it feels so finished and heavy, but I do suspect that I'll be eating my words in a week or two.    … Expand

    For me is a great idea to make you play as the "villain" and i know how mutch the community loved Joel as character, but if you pay attention to the construction of the plot you will understand why the game got this resolution.
    In conclusion you can have your opinion about the story but you really can't say this is a bad written plot with bad written characters    … Expand

    I never felt Joy, Relief and Sadness at the same time at the end of a game. I also never cried as much at the end of a game. It was truely beautiful.

All upgrade mechanics from previous title including graphics, bigger maps, weapon choice etc. Many people complain about the death of Joel, which is seem pretty rush but it's happen every time in this franchise. Character died unexpectedly everytime in this franchise which is make it feel more organic. Although many people say the ending were nothing, it shows great progress for Ellie character development. With every upgrade and good story line this game deserve a 10/10… Expand

    Realisticly 8/10. I rated it 10 just to equilibrate for the other troll scores.
    Great game overall. I recommended just play it because it depends a lot in how you get hook by the story (and of course you dont want to get spoiled) especialy if you liked the first game.

Los personajes están muy bien escritos, que hasta llegas a empatizar con ellos, incluso si algunos son del bando contrario.     No game has ever made me physically react like The Last of Us Part 2. There was multiple times where my girlfriend had to point out to me I was on the edge of my seat or mouth hanging open. The story was alright I'd give the game overall a 9/10 but I gave it a 10 to deviate from all the loser bashing the game that have never even played the first or just jumping on the bandwagon of hating it. I waited 7 years for this game, played it the day it came out... and the part 2 was NOT as good as the PART 1, I never believed it'd top the first one. THE FIRST GAME WAS TOO GOOD. THE ONLY THING THEY CAN TOP IS THE GAMEPLAY NOT THE STORY. You guys are just a bunch of morons. It makes me think how many Xbox fanboys just jumped on this game and rated it a 0. Even tho I was truly disappointed with Ellie's decision by not killing Abby, I think this game is a masterpiece and I noticed all the improvement by the very first scene of the game, the incredible human expressions, the animations, especially the one where you can pick up a rope, the gun upgrades animation, and a lot more, the animals, the combat, oh the combat, the enemies so realistic human esssence it's incredible, It even makes you feel bad by killing them, how the dog cries when you kill its owner, just everything in this game it's exactly what I've been waiting for 7 years. I love The Last Of Us, It's my favourite videogame and I've played the first game in every difficulty mode, and I waited with extra hype all of this years for this game, I had extra high expectations, I can say I love this game and it's worth every single year of wait and every single dollar I paid for it.     This game was absolutely amazing. I'm so upset I've finished it. I wanted it to last forever. It really gets down into the nitty gritty of human emotion and traumas in a way I'm not sure I've ever seen. Highly recommend if you enjoyed the first one.

    Last of us part 2 is complex, beautiful, massive and haunting. Part 2 had to live up to the best video game of all time in part 1 (in my opinion) and it did. Masterfully. It’s the most important video game i have ever played. Play it as soon as you can. Run, don't walk to this game.

    Amazing experience! The gameplay is on a new level, they kept the good old form and added some new mechanics. The animations are mindblowing, facial expressions never was more realistic than now. And the story... oh my god, this is the first game that made me cry. Absolutely the best game I've ever played. Thank you Naughty Dog!

    Incredible game with unparalleled gameplay, and an incredibly moving story and characters. Everything I was hoping for and so much more. The Collector's Edition came in impressive packaging, and the Ellie statue was as detailed and beautiful as it was heavy. I didn't expect that kind of quality for the price.

Story-wise, each game does a great job at drawing out different emotions, from fear, anger, hatred, disgust, and love. The first game will forever be the best game I have ever played, however, part II is a close second. It’s obvious that this game is divisive, for obvious reasons, however, this doesn’t make me hate the decisions made by developers and directors. It shows that every horrible action you do will catch up to you at some point, like it does for Joel. Getting Abby’s backstory put her actions in place. She was angry, sad, and wanted revenge for Joel killing her dad, who was wanting to do the right thing. Although his murder was brutal, it was necessary. I love Joel, even if he didn’t make the right choices, he showed remorse that if he had the chance to do it all over again, he would. He saved Ellie selfishly and killed very important people in the firefly community, which I disagreed with but I love Joel and if I was in his position I would probably do the same. As well as Abby. If my dad was killed for trying to save the world, I would seek revenge. This game left me confused, but after further reflection, I came to peace with it, just like the first game. If you are looking to play the game, keep an open mind and know that the developers didn’t create this story with the intent of pissing you off. Everything happens for a reason. Happy gaming.… Expand

I've never had a game take me on such an amazing journey before, you are thrown into anger wanting vengeance and then the next minute you are growing as a person yourself. Complete masterpiece.     Graphics

    There is a huge improvement upon the Naughty Dog Engine from Uncharted: The Lost Chapter. Much of the open world element from the latest Uncharted game is present here in this one. Parts of Seattle are huge environments with no set path. You must figure out where you are going and need to go for yourself.

    The attention to detail in the character models both in-game and in cut scenes is amazing. The shift from cut scene to gameplay is practically seamless. Textures and animations are fantastic. A lot of work has gone into the facial animations for the characters (even the infected) to the point where these people are no longer "voice actors" as their emotion is passed through the animations.

    Audio

    This game has full 7.1 support and the same fantastic audio tweaking we found in Uncharted 4 and The Lost Chapter. With lots of presets available and the ability to tweak the balance on each channel and even configure for distance. I personally have been playing this game with headphones.

    As with the graphical detail, audio has not been overlooked. The sound effects in game are hugely realistic. The fidelity uncompromising. There are enemies that use whistles to communicate and the directional audio engine works well with this feature, allowing you to often pinpoint the location of an enemy given by the direction the sound came in. This is not groundbreaking, but it's been masterfully put together.

    The soundtrack is fantastic as well. The same composer as the first game has returned to write some tracks for this game too. It has the same moody feel and undertones. In the more tense sections of the game the soundtrack puts you on the edge of your seat and sets the scene wonderfully.

    Accessibility

    This game was made to be played and enjoyed by everyone. The range of options available here is going to have something for everyone.     Ah, this bit. I don't want to include spoilers, so I wont.

    I read the leaked information about this game and the way it was presented was very slanted towards hate. I, personally, do not get easily led by creative writing in this way. I took the facts without the pathetic bias and formed my own opinion.

    This isn't to say that everyone who does not enjoy the story is incapable of forming their own opinions or that everyone will enjoy everything; they won't and don't. But the fact is a hell of a lot of the reviews on this page probably haven't played the game and are on the hate train. That's fine. Just, caveat emptor.

    I, for one, enjoyed the story thoroughly. We're introduced to a new set of characters in this game who are written well and played by their actors wonderfully. There are huge ups and downs with this game. One moment you'll feel warm and fuzzy the next you'll think "what the hell just happened?!".

    There are things that happen in the story that, depending on how much you actually understood from the first game (I.E. not attributing things to a certain character that were entirely in your own mind. Making out like one certain character was an infallible badass that no-one can touch) happen and you're powerless to prevent it.

    I went into this with an open mind and not a childish mentality and I ended up enjoying the game and story hugely.

    Overall

    Overall this game gets some entirely unnecessary hate from sections of the gaming community that are not nice. The hate doesn't come from a good place. It comes from a place of bigotry. Those who dislike the story and will dislike that last sentence because they feel attacked need to realise that that's where the bias in the leaks came from. The leaked information was heavily slanted and was heavily put in a position where it made you feel a certain way.

    If you can't recognise that, fine. If you transcended the hate and bias and you approached it like me and still didn't like aspects of the plot or story, then that's entirely respectable and a valid position to be in. You're also unlikely to be the sort of person saying this game is a 0/10 and will actually be giving your own objective review like me.

From the story to gameplay it’s absolutely a 10 out of 10 and I would recommend it to anyone that hasn’t played the game yet. One of my favorite things about the game was the guitar, it had a very symbolic meaning behind it and it was beautiful. In my honest opinion, you have to think quite hard to understand the entire storyline from beginning to end and the meaning behind the game to understand why what happened, happened.

    You might not understand why Abby wasn’t killed at the end so I’ll try to explain it the way I interpreted it.

    The game was advertised as a revenge story right? So you would think Abby should’ve died but she didn’t. Why? Because they got out of an endless cycle of revenge. How did they get out of the endless cycle of revenge? - An uncommon, socially unaccepted choice they made creates a family bond of love which gives them both a chance of redemption. Ellie has accepted JJ, a child who was not born yet by Dina who kissed Ellie when she knew she was pregnant and started a relationship. Ellie had to face the humiliation that she left Dina once to go on revenge (the part where Jesse and Ellie split up, I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about). Abby accepted Lev, a kid from a cult she hated and is most skilled at killing who saved her. Abby had to face the humiliation and regret of killing Joel cowardly to accept Lev. What did they have to pay? Ellie paid a part of herself, her two fingers were lost during the last battle and she couldn't play the guitar properly anymore. Her guitar holds her dearest memories of Joel, and Joel's song sounds broken without her two fingers, she lost a part of herself physically and symbolically. Abby paid her whole group of friends and trusted comrades. Now that is the true moral argument of the story: revenge will not lead to anything good but it's inevitable. Empathy and sympathy seems impossible to be established but at some point you will have to show some, do it for the ones you love, they're hurt if you're trapped in that cycle too. It felt like the consequences of chasing revenge at all costs was the lesson being taught to Ellie, not the player. I actually think that whole plot element is enhanced by the dramatic irony that the player can see a mile away the road she's on. The player is meant to learn empathy and perspective, through learning that Abby has understandable reasons for doing what she does as well, even if they aren't moral from an absolute perspective. Morally reprehensible or even downright monstrous actions can seem justified, depending on your perspective.    … Expand

The story, the characters, although being something that was already seen, surprised me and I fell in love with them. After waiting 6 years, the sequel came out. What to say, it’s not just the impressive graphics and the better gameplay, but the realism of the story who caught me. At first, I didn’t get why they wanted us to play as Abby too, but then I realized: there are no bad nor good people in a post apocalyptic world...just survivors who have different ideas on how to survive. Of course, some of them might have, how do I put it, questionable methods, but the final objective is always the same: surviving. A lot of people were triggered by Joel’s death; I was too. But you can’t just review a game basing your vote on a big, but still small, part of the story. About the presence of SJW contents, I was actually impressed: of course it wasn’t necessary, but why are there so many people that are against this? Can’t you just evolve from your primitive way of thinking like you lived in 1900? Story is not as good as the part 1. There are holes, it cannot be denied, but still... I loved to just "sniff walls" just to admire this attention to details. In my opinion, trying to play someone who just killed character from the previous game is something new, but they did it actually wrong.

    Yes, from our perspective Joel was a hero for us, but what did happen in the Salt Lake City, it turned him into antagonist even in me eyes. Even tho, that Ellie was for him like a daughter. In the other hand, mankind killed his real daughter, so maybe he didn't want to save mankind, because that would be mean the death of his second daughter. No one, except us, didn't know about this, so for Abby and the others he was just a monster.As a fan of part 1, in my opinion, killing Joel so fast was wrong. He should die later in the game. Ellie should pursuit to get revenge for killing Dina. "you think I'd let you do this on your own", should be Joel like in trailer. They should get trapped by Abby in the theatre like in original, and there Joel should die, by what he did to her dad. All the rest of the story should go as it is in the game, except ending. Abby should die, by Ellie's hand.
    I know what ND is trying to do with her. I'm almost sure, they want to make her a main character in part3, what is wrong.

    I almost didn't play the game because of all the drama, but I'm glad I did... Because it is definitely the best game I played so far. And in my opinion, even better than the first one.
    Don't get me wrong : it's not perfect, nothing is. But what I "experienced" shook me well a lot of times.

    All in all, in a cut-throat lawless world that Ellie, Joel and rest of the characters live in, there is no such thing as justice and predictability, TLOU 2 is meant to be a dark game with unpredictability. I hated Joel after the first game for his selfishness and last minute change of heart. Naturally everyone in TLOU universe would hate him and want him and his allies dead... Everyone wants to survive and everyone is a hero in their own story.

    The story is as unpredictable as it gets and the game-play arcs for each character is worth playing for. I have had enjoyable moments looking for all collectibles, safes, trading cards and notes left all around the environment in each chapter. It's interesting to tie all these artifacts together to piece up stories of all the bodies and infected people you encounter in the game... The developers really really put in a lot of effort into the game and it shows.... Please see the early gameplay trailers from 2017 and now (there is a youtube video out there showcasing that...) Plus, it also shows, like the current world we live in, nobody is perfect when making decisions. Everyone has some good moments and everyone has some bad moments. Plus, fate decides whether you live or you die...

    Keeping to that tone, this game is a masterpiece. I agree with the game creators to end the game on such a note as it leaves space for questions and thought. I found the story arc similar to Pulp fiction. Naughty Dog can now work on newer projects in peace regardless of spoilt meta fans and review bombers...

    The whole story can be encapsulated into a one liner - "An eye-for-an-eye leaves the whole world blind!" - befitting the title itself THE LAST OF US    … Expand

    Amazing. I don't get all the hate the game is getting. The story is a great, a narrative that focus on the characters and their emotions. Here is my 10 to better the score. People bashing it for the protagonist sexuality...damn, someone tell them it's 2020, take your pitchforks somewhere else.

    This game was a different experience altogether. The gameplay is amazing, the environment is beautiful and the story hits you right in the feels. The game is long by NaughtyDog standard but every passing minutes the gameplay gets intense and dark. The story slows down at towards the mid sections of the game but pace picks up back again soon.

    Now this a game. Gave me all the feels. I AM NOT THE HERO IN THIS GAME. A game about violence has no hero. Amazing story. Heres hoping for a cure (looking at u ps5) !!CHEERS!!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To begin with, i don't like this game, but i need to be fair. Naughty dog was able to exceed all my expectations. This game is one of the best games i've ever seen. The technical part of the game is very well done, I don’t know what to complain about. The design of the levels literally makes you stop and look around, wondering at the increasingly large, elaborate details of the environment. BUT in this game there is such an ambiguous thing as the plot (spoilers). The game begins with the murder of Joel. And after that we have a large plot about revenge and hate. We can play as lovely Ellie and as Abby (she is the murder). So we can see situation from two hands. To be honest I hated this game from the beginning to the end. But after i saw the end, I understand what creators wanted to say. I recommend all people to play this game… Expand

    Grafica perfetta, ai limiti delle capacità della ps4, gameplay stupendo ed una bella storia checchè se ne dica.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
