I like this game. The graphics weren't really good, but the story is an amazing **** I play it for the second time to be able to judge everything from a different perspective and it is so difficult to play the game again. You have to kill nice people who ran into each other during the first game and it hurts .....

And what I can say is, The Last of Us 1 is a great game. Great. However, The Last of Us 2 is a game that is impossible to describe. It is a unique experience. Much better than 1 in every way. It is a brutal, credible game and brings us a reflection that I have never seen in any game, film or book. In short: this game is a masterpiece. It is the game that separates adults from children. It is a game that requires the player to have a more mature mindset. It is not a simple video game. The way the story was told is something unique. If you're reading this here and haven't played the game yet: play it, but be there and face it with an open mind and let yourself be allowed and be absolved by the narrative. I still can't get the game out of my head. It is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played in my life. And the ending is impressive, I cried like a boy and I was bad, very bad. Best of all, it opens up infinite possibilities for The Last of Us 3. It's not just a game, it's an experience. And this is a game about "Revenge", in this game there is no justice, just like the 1, everything is a matter of perspective. Expand

I would score the game 9/10, however I have completely different view on the game. I think the strongest point of TLOU2 is the story, and ability to understand two sides of conflict. On another hand I did not like the graphic and repetitive stealth killing. Wazzup!

As a long time Naughty Dog fan I’m still blown away. This could very well be the best game I’ve ever experienced and it’s undoubtedly the best PS4 game as of yet and this is coming from someone that’s played games since the 80’s and well over 100 PS4 games to completion including all other AAA games that is considered the best of the bunch. This is a story heavy game and it’s playing with completely different questions and emotions to what you’ve normally come to expect from a game. You may not like it since it dare to challenge pretty much everything we’ve come to learn and feel up to this point in the story but it’s very difficult to question the quality of the story telling independent if you agree with the direction or not. Me personally understand and respect the choices they made and the gambling they obviously did. It’s much darker than the original The Last of Us with a lot of violence and gore but it’s also very fitting based on the revenge theme of this game. It’s not there for the sake of being there but to further explain the darkest sides of humanity. It plays and feel like a Naughty Dog game and if anything I would say it’s an improvement over last installments. The AI is the best I’ve witnessed in a video game and it’s also an excellent stealth game even judging by Metal Gear Solid standards. It’s challenging (>=Moderate) without being frustrating and I never felt I was punished by the game or suffered failures due to anything but my own mistakes. The length of the game is longer than any of the other ND games and even though I prefer shorter and tighter games I never felt that it overstayed it’s visit. I’ve read a lot of debates about pushing feminist agendas but other than that I kept away from any spoilers or in detail reviews about the game, purely to have my own experience. I don’t agree with the critique related to politics and pushing agendas and if your whole world collapses if you witness anything HBTQ related, then I just feel sorry for you and the people around your black cloud. The graphics may very well be the best that is possible to achieve with current PS hardware and the sound design and music is a triumph as well. Everything that’s created is there to support the mood they want to achieve and according to me it hit all the right strings. If possible for you, then I recommend to use headphones while playing the game. This is a pure masterpiece and it got me to review my first ever game on Metacritic. 10/10 from Sweden. Expand

This could have easily been a 9/10 but the game overstays its welcome by the midpoint.
Also, when it could have ended in a good way it once again pushes our patience to make the ending worse.

Gameplay is the same as the original, nothing amazing but I honestly like it.
Graphics are mind blowing, so if you like your games to look pretty, you can't complain here.

It's as if they wanted to punish us for buying the game. The story wasn't that great, it's a discount Hideo Kojima story, even comparing this to the legendary H.K is a stretch. Other than the poor story the gameplay was flat and uninspired. I'd rather replay the last of us remastered. It's pretty dated. Expand

Now on this one, technically speaking, this game looks awesome, but TLOS was never about the graphic details and was always about the story. I understand that ND tried to portrait the neverending cycle of violence when someone pushes that violence on others (Joel and Ellie on many NPCs on the first game). But you (ND) have to understand that it was inevitable that I, as a gamer created bonds with these characters. You simply cannot get to kill Joel on TLOU2 with all that gore and get away with that. Also, it was totally unnecessary the push of a social agenda thru all of this. I'm deeply disappointed. Expand

It's a conflicting game, that forces the player into uncomfortable situations and brutal scenes. Let's start off by saying that this game looks incredible, with environments that almost look like real life and characters where you can see distinctive hair strains, which is insane! Even small touches, like grass blowing with the wind, or how the blood from enemies mixes with water puddles, elevates this game beyond its competition. Likewise, the artwork is magnificent, striking a balance of gruesome realism with bleek environments and horrifying infected, and beautiful landscapes of grass fields and oceans, much thanks to the astonishing lighting. If we're talking presentation, music has also improved immensely from the previous game, relaxing the player in somber moments and hitting harder in intense scenes. Gameplay has also improved, with bigger levels, more weapons, more choices. New mechanics include rope swinging, wall gaps and even a jump button (!). The previously mentioned bigger levels mixed with the new mechanics makes the gameplay more complex and fun, though it could've been improved even more to blow the player away. The game also throws in dogs, that can sniff your scent and forces the player to move around in new manner, though if you really like dogs, this might take a toll on you. We're the game starts to split one's appreciation of the game is in the story. The story takes some bold and adventurous turns, making the experience harrowing and frightening at some occasions. Right from the getko, the game let's you know that it will not be like the predecessor and takes some big risks. It asks morally ambiguous questions that can make the player divided about some choices they have to make. The ending leaves a lasting impression on the player, and the more you think about it, the deeper its meanings become. The actors too do an incredible job, with standouts being reprising actors Ashley Jonson as Ellie and Troy Baker as Joel, and also newcomer Laura Bailey stealing the show as Abby. The game also makes the characters perform questionable actions and make the player experience them. The game isn't as concerned about what the player wants to do, as it is about how the characters react and behave in those situations, which makes for more claustrophobic and uncomfortable moments that don't give the player any choice, which is in this game's advantage. Where the game faults is in its pacing. The game shifts time spans very often and sometimes it can feel like a mess. Certain scenarios or time jumps occur and you wonder why that didn't happen before/after. This isn't the case for some time cuts, but one storyline in particular has this issue. It makes the enjoyment and surprises less interesting in some places. At some points the game can feel drawn out and last way too long, most notable in the middle section after the intro. Some of the new characters also feel underdeveloped. Dina is interesting as a character, but you don't learn a whole lot about her dreams and aspirations. Same goes for Jesse, who is underused and could've had some better writing in his presence. The story isn't bad, it's actually really great sometimes, it just needed some more cooking in the oven. It's also sad too see the multiplayer not returning. As all assets and development moved over to singleplayer, the online playing field got scrapped. While I think it's more important to see development improve and focus on the singleplayer, it's still disappointing to not see multiplayer included. In conclusion, The Last of Us Part II is a conflicitng experience. A lot of improvements and tweeks have been added to make the experience better, especially in gameplay and artistry, but at the same time the story is a mixed bag, with some incredible bright spots and some other spots that fall flat, due to pacing issues. Still, this is a great game that I would recommend to most people, because the experience over all is still enjoyable and fun and the discussions that can come from people talking about this game will engage people maybe even more to this game. While not as good and engaging as the first game, it still provides a lot of fun and interesting choices that will make the player question what is going to happen next and their own morales. I commend Naughty Dog for trying something new and different, even though they didn't always stick the landing. Expand

When you playing abby, there is a boss fight where you fight ellie.
In that, when abby tries to kill dina, ellie says "she is not a part of this. Leave her. She's pregnant." Abby leaves dina and ellie without killing them, saying "i dont wanna ever see you again." Abby doesnt even kills tommy (who killed manny infront of her)
This shows that abby is trying to walk away. She realizes that what she did to joel wasn't right and more importantly her actions costed her friends' lives. *This is abby's moment of enlightenment*

In the end, when ellie tries to kill lev, abby says "leave him alone. He is not a part of this." And yet they fight. Ellie realizes that is not worth to kill her (realizing that abby did not kill her when she had the chance) and moreover ellie has a family now (dina and her baby JJ) and leaves abby without killing her..
*This is ellie's moment of enlightenment*

This is a perfect ending .. (at least for me)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Lat Of Us Part 2 is easily the most controversial game of the entire year, and has divided gamers, some people hate it, others love it for what it is. The Last Of Us 2 is not a terrible game or the worst game ever made like most people have been saying. It is definitely disappointing in some areas but it is not the worst game ever made. The rest of this review contains spoilers.

Con one: Joel's death. I think we can all agree that since the game was announced that we were excited to get see our iconic duo once again and see how their relationship has developed since the first game. And I think I speak for every fan of this series, that we were upset when Joel was killed at the two hour mark in one of the worst ways, getting his skull bashed in by a golf club. I think we wouldn't have minded if Joel died in this game if it were towards the end of the game and it was because he was protecting Ellie. His death felt cheap and had no impact, unlike Sarah's death from the first game.

Con Two: Playing as Abby. I don't know why Naughty dog thought it was a good idea to put in a section where you have to play as Abby, the woman who killed Joel, who in my opinion is one of the best written video game characters of all time. I didn't like her story line at all and playing as her just rubbed me the wrong way and it felt like her story line was just filler to make the game longer then it needed to be. I wanted to play the entire game through Ellie's eyes. Yes it explains why Abby went to kill Joel but I think we would've been fine if we saw her only three times. First at the beginning where we see her kill Joel, second time at the movie theater, and the final time for the final fight at the beach. It puts Ellie's revenge plot on hold and takes away from the overall plot.

Con three: The fireflies. Before Abby gets captured towards the end of the game, she ends up coming into contact with people who are rebuilding the fireflies. I don't like this because it takes away the emotional weight from the ending of the first game, Where Joel literally kills the remaining fireflies and their leader to save Ellie. Now they make that ending not matter now that the fireflies are back. so it makes the ending of the game feel pointless.

Con four: Ellie And Joel. This is the biggest problem I have with this game, Ellie is angry with Joel the entire game. Yes they later explain why but that doesn't excuse the fact the entire first game is now pointless. The whole first game was about the bond between them and how they basically become father and daughter. Now that doesn't matter now that Ellie hates Joel for the whole game.

A lot of cons right, makes the game sound terrible and the fans shouldn't play it. But that's not the cause. Lets talk pro's.

Pro One: Ellie's Motivation. Like i said earlier even though Joel's death was a weak, it makes sense story wise because it gives Ellie motivation to get revenge on the people who killed basically her father figure. And you believe that motivation since we all know how much Joel meant to Ellie.

Pro Two: The Characters. Even if you hate the story like most people do, the characters hold the game together. Everyone has their own character arcs including Ellie. Ellie goes on a quest for revenge and will do anything she has to find and kill Abby and kill anyone she has to get to her. She uses her anger as her main weapon. However when we reach the end of the game and Ellie is drowning Abby in the water, she realizes even if she kills Abby it won't bring Joel back. So even though some people hate that you don't kill Abby in the end, it makes sense for Ellie's arc and to show that the violence we use on others to make ourselves feel better, won't solve the pain and loss we witnessed or went through.

Pro Three: Graphics And Gameplay. The graphics in this game is beautiful and is one of the best looking PS4 game of all time in my opinion. Everything looks great from the foliage growing around us, to the amazing detail on the characters. The gameplay is smooth, every violent action you do as either Ellie or Abby was fun to do and amazing to watch. Small details from the blood from Ellie's victims squirting out onto her face whenever she would do major damage to their body, to hiding under cars and waiting for the right moment to strike at your enemies.

In conclusion this is not a terrible game, this is not the worst game ever made. It is definitely disappointing in some areas, but not enough to take away from your enjoyment of the game. This is a great game that I would not only recommend to the fans but to newcomers who just want to hop in and see what this game is all about. I suggest to play the game for yourself and develop your own opinion on it and not just go off what you've heard or read on the internet.

With overwhelmingly incredible animations, acting, level design, music and attention to detail, The Last of Us Part II has cemented itself as one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had in video games. While the story has proved divisive, I found its departure from my expectations to be a positive and not a negative.

The Last of Us Part II is a game unlike any other. It takes players through a visceral story of hate and the cycle of violence. Your feelings are going to be hurt, you will despise some moments and probably, at some point, even hate the game. But that's the objective.

In order to put you in Ellie's shoes, the game needs to make you feel every single emotion that is going through her head.

Nearly 25 years have passed since the begging of the Cordyceps infection, the world's changed. People die every day, those who are still alive have to live with the constant threat of the infected. Happiness is a luxury that simply cannot be afforded, at least not for long.

Due to a traumatic event, Ellie sets off on a journey for revenge on those who've wronged her. You're not meant to have fun, you're meant to witness the character's slow descent into an ever-darker abyss of tragedy. You will feel the weight of every single murder, every single call for help and, hopefully, in the end, understand that there are no heroes and villains in this story, there are simply different perspectives. The most important thing to understand is that every action leads to a series of consequences, and no matter how much you try, you can't escape them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game's a masterclass in just deserts as a concept.

    Just play it.

My main issues with the game is that you start over half way through it, and have to level up an entirely different character from nothing. It would've been easier if the game had cut between these two characters at different story points, but I understand why they didn't. For this reason, the game's pacing drags a bit but otherwise it's a perfect game. I'd have gived it a 9 in reality but until the metacritic score balances out I'll give it a 10.

You already know the game's graphics and gameplay are good so lets talk story. Here's my points that disagree with most of the concerns here. Spoilers below:

The game is incredibly self aware of the fact that it's a game. It knows you dislike Abby, and gives you more than one opportunity to watch her die a brutal, horrific death. It turns the death mechanic you try to avoid into a sick and twisted revenge mechanic. It's fitting that you face off against an incredibly terrifying and overpowered boss as Abby yet Tommy and Ellie are far more challenging opponents. You can survive your first encounter with the big boss but you won't survive your first encounter with Ellie.

People don't feel like the game has the same level of chemistry that made the first game magic--and are upset that they didn't 'like' Dina. The game doesn't want you to like Dina, in fact it goes out of it's way to make you only care about one thing: revenge for Joel. Dina is the only thing Ellie has and her life takes a backseat to killing every single one of Abby's friends with the goal of killing Abby. Even playing as Abby, watching her story--you still want Abby to die. That one good deed saving Lev doesn't matter if you don't get your just deserts.

The end of the game comes to a close with the most heroic thing you've ever done in either game--you free an entire colony of slaves to overtake their oppressors and you don't care at all. You're just there to kill Abby. Just deserts. You find her hanging from a crucifix starved and beaten after months as a slave. When she finally has her beaten and bruised beyond recognition, leaving her in worse shape than Ellie was left at the end of the first fight, she let's her go. She had to learn to forgive this woman, and she realizes in that moment she has put the fear of god in this woman. It's harrowing.

The comparisons of the game's story akin to The Last Jedi are way overblown. In The Last Jedi, the characters from the previous trilogy are left behind, barely respected and make decisions that are completely out of character. Luke Skywalker is turned into a joke. The Last of Us 2 respects it's characters and puts them in believable situations. You get plenty of time with the characters from the first game acting as you'd expect. There is a cause and effect for every decision they make, and the game makes sense.

It's hard to watch people who have legitimate criticisms of the game thrown in with antisemitic, homophobic and racist dialogue, even if you truly hated the story I'd find it hard to take seriously a review under 5 or 6.

Play the game, see it for yourself.

The writers weren't crap, they actually thought through the entire story, not just what they wanted to happen in this particular segment of it. What this type of writing did is force you into the perspective of someone you hate, to show you the pain of two characters who have had someone ripped away from them at the hand of the other. It shows what grief can do to you in a world that is out of your control, just like real life. Don't hate the game because a favorite character dies, love it for what it taught you, if you can get past that first heart aching moment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the perfect example, why you have to play a game by yourself. The Last Us Part II is a pretty spectacular Game with a lot of strengths and some flaws. Lets talk about the things I really like about TLOU Part II.

    Strength
    - Visuals and Realism
    - Sound
    - Gameplay
    - Lore

It looks/sounds and feels so good to play this. It was me an absolute honor. Thank you for the most beautiful and realistic game out there. The overall gameplay, on higher difficulty's is flawless, this mix of hiding, fighting, surprise attacks, silent kills, and gunaction feels so smooth and clean. From a gameplay perspective this is, for me, even better than Uncharted 4. But I'd say it is not as good as games like Sekiro, God of War or Dark Souls 3. But for a 3rd Person Shooter it is probably the best I've ever played. One big plus is also the way of telling a story through the world itself. It could be more divers, with a lot of Notes you find, but it always felt like this world is realistic and alive. and there is a lot happening that you didn't see.

Overall a fun, awesome looking Triple AAA title.

    Flaws

Well, it is a hard part for Neil Druckman and the people at naughty dog. I think the story is pretty solid and I was not annoyed by Abby. However, the review bombing comes from a perspective of people who didn't want to see any other story, than the story of Ellie and Joel. And this people are **** up, because as a fan of them you're pretty disappointed with this one. I love both of these characters and I have to say it hurts, but i still can appreciate what Naughty Dog tried here and I really liked the way they are trying to show how hard this world and the decisions can be. They really try to ask what is the right and wrong of the First Part. It was a hard question after Part I and it still is. Playing Abby for such a long time, surprised me first, but I was ok with it after the first 2 hours. The story shows us how Ellie looses herself, because she lost Joel. There are parts in this game, giving me Goosebumps, like the scene in the Natural History Museum.
But after the End this game couldn't touch me as the first part, because Ellie distanced herself so hard from me. And Abbys Story feels a bit forced and is basically Joel's Story of Part I. Which still is great performed and written. But I didn't liked both sides in here and that makes me feel a bit off.

This didn't change the fact I had a lot of fun with this one and Naughty Dog is still a outstanding game company.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us Part II doesn’t just tell you that violence is bad, but it shows you the ramifications of it by dealing with the emotional toll as well as the consequences on not just the main character involved, but their loved ones too. At the start of the game, Joel is brutally killed by Abby and we go with Ellie on a mission to avenge him by killing everybody involved. We see it all from Ellie’s POV, hardheartedly seeing Abby as the villain as she just killed the character that we know and love as we have an emotional connection to him after the first game. His death is supposed to make you feel anger. It’s not like you’re supposed to be joyed by it. His death scene left me feeling empty and disgusted, wanting revenge alongside Ellie. However, as the game goes on, we start to see the story from Abby’s POV. We learn that the doctor that you, the player, had to murder at the end of The Last of Us is actually the father of Abby. This is brilliant. Now we see one of the main themes of the story, consequences, and I was immediately on board. Joel is not a good person, at all. He murdered hundreds of Fireflies and took away the possible cure for humanity for his own personal reasons. This is incredibly selfish, even going to the lengths of lying to Ellie about the events as he knows that it isn’t what she would want. Technically, Joel is the villain. Joel had been through so much, so you may think it’s justified. But the point is, Joel isn’t the only person in the world of The Last of Us. Everybody he murders aren’t just mindless NPCs, they are people. People with their own problems who have gone through their own share of pain and loss, people with their own loved ones. Such as the doctor, who had Abby, whom he loved very much and Abby the same. So, understandably, she would feel incredible anger and feel the need for revenge, just the same as Ellie and the player after Joel’s death. There is now a cycle of revenge. Ellie goes on to kill Abby’s friends, and so Abby tries to kill Ellie and her friends. It’s not until Lev talks Abby out of it that the cycle seems to have been “broken”. Abby and Lev put it behind them, however, Ellie cannot and nor can Tommy, which means that the cycle is not broken. Ellie continues her hunt for revenge, thinking it’s still what she needs. Just as she’s about to murder Abby, she sees it’s completely useless. Here I’m going to talk about another core theme of the story: loss. As Ellie is about to kill Abby, she realises that Joel is gone. Completely gone, and killing Abby is not going to change that. She now has Lev, and if Ellie was to kill Abby, Lev would only lose Abby, leaving him in the same situation Ellie was in at the start of the game, which in turn means Ellie is becoming what she set out to kill. It’s no use. Revenge only causes more pain and loss. This cycle is so vicious and nobody wins, and Abby realised this once she found Lev, and found that revenge is a futile thing that does not achieve anything, especially not bringing back her dead friends. She managed to break the cycle herself, and in turn, she found a life worth living, alive with Lev. However, Ellie could not manage this, choosing to still seek revenge. Because of this, she faces the consequences. She loses all of her loved ones. She loses Dina, she loses Jesse and she loses her little boy, JJ. Tommy is the same too. Tommy couldn’t break the cycle, and he loses his wife, Maria. And guess what, Joel is still gone. All of that loss, yet Joel is still dead. It’s all been for nothing. Ellie is now completely alone, which is what she said she was scared of in the first game, all because of revenge. The way forward is not anger, rage or revenge, but acceptance and love.

You may think this treatment of Joel and Ellie is “disrespectful”, but I disagree. In the first game, you do a lot of bad things as these characters. Yeah, you go through a lot of pain, but so has everybody else, yet they still face the unfavourable consequences. It only makes sense that Joel and Ellie would too. In my opinion, this only helps to build the world of The Last of Us and show that just because Joel and Ellie are the main characters, they aren’t invincible, and the world doesn’t revolve around them. They just happen to be two people who live in the world amongst so many others, which for me, makes it so much more realistic. This is emphasised in the incredible detail in the gameplay of each enemy having names, with other enemies interacting with each other as you stalk them. It makes them feel so much more real and only increased my enjoyability. From a story like this, which is so dark and gritty, I don’t expect a happy ending. You’re not supposed to like Ellie by the end of this story, as she serves as the example of why the cycle of revenge is horrible. You’re not supposed to feel satisfied by it, you’re supposed to feel empty, hurt and sad. That is literally the point.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

For me gameplay was good playing as both characters was not the worse thing but i struggled to play for more than 2 hours at a time . narrative was disgusting and it ruined the entire game. Not worth your money guys and even when it get mayor discounts soon. It wont be worth tour time. Hopefully we can forget this garbage game was ever created and we can still love the last of us 1 masterpiece. Expand

To preface my opinion, I thankfully was not spoiled by any leaks before playing this game. I also didn't read any reviews beforehand, and the last thing I viewed showing anything within this game was the gameplay trailer from E3 2018. I went out of my way to avoid spoilers, even down to any new gameplay mechanics or features, so that I could play it with as clean a slate as possible.

I beat the game after a week of it being out, took a break from it, and am now starting another playthrough to go for the platinum. During my first playthrough, I went from thinking this might be one of the best games I've played in the last few years to being on the fence on the last half. The main reason for that is I felt like it could've been a tad shorter, I remember pushing through areas on the latter half just wanting to know what was going to happen. I loved the gameplay loop, and I felt like it expanded on the original in many ways gameplay-wise. But while I started playing the game using stealth and working to figure out the best approach to each encounter, I eventually began just blasting my way through each area to get to the next story beat near the end. This is probably the main reason why I'm not giving it higher than an 8. I felt like I couldn't wait for it to be done, not because I hated it, but just because I was ready for it to be over after about 20-25 hrs in (my playthrough lasted 29 hrs). I felt like I'd had my fill at the point, and had to hold myself back from googling "how far am i in last of us 2?".

I actually enjoyed the story very much, contrary to about half of all who seemed to play it. But even without seeing any spoilers, I definitely understood early on how many people probably wouldn't enjoy it. It takes chances with the story and characters that while some I didn't agree with at the time (and some I still don't) I was still enjoying the surprises and risks it was trying to take and appreciated it. Even though many people already know what happens without having even played it, I still don't want to take that experience away from anyone else so I won't get into details obviously. But I will say that the parts of the story and scenes that I enjoyed the most were when I felt like they were honoring the original and tying things together that I didn't expect. In many people's eyes, including partly in mine, it didn't succeed completely in this. But I was a fan of the original's entire story and especially the ending, and I felt like Part 2 mostly succeeded in continuing this saga (even though I wasn't completely onboard with some of the new characters and other things).

This is a game that I feel like many people will finish like I did, just wanting it to be over. Like I said, for me it was because I felt like it was a bit too long. Some people will hate having played it because of their disagreements with the story, and I've also heard people having trouble getting through it because of the excessive violence (which isn't is a spoiler to say that there is PLENTY of violence). But I find that the more I look back on the game, the more I'm appreciating it, despite the parts that I didn't enjoy 100%. I understand what they were trying to do, and it's close to what I originally thought about the original when I first played it: this is a series that doesn't demand to be enjoyed, but does demand to be experienced.

So I'm mostly writing this for anyone still considering whether to buy it or not, and if it's worth your time. I won't tell you whether you should enjoy it or not, I don't think anyone should do that. I'd say judging from the user review scores and general backlash, it's completely understandable to want to hold off. But if you have any inkling at all to play it, I wouldn't wait (only because you'd run the risk of being spoiled). So if you are interested at all, I'd buy it, play it, and try not to listen to extreme reviews on either end of the spectrum. Make up your own mind, but I will say that I feel like I got my money's worth, and enjoyed the experience overall.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't want to get too in depth so I'll list a few pros and cons then explain a little why I gave 6/10

    Pros
    - fantastic graphics - excellent music and sound design - better level design than 1
    - slightly better companion AI than 1 Cons - woeful enemy AI
    - Clunky outdated controls and animations - 6-10 hours too long - cheap storytelling, boring revenge plot, poorly fleshed out characters
    - feels like it could have been a PS3 game gameplay wise - tacky manipulation tactics made for you to feel empathy yet none of the characters warranted it. All in all I was hugely disappointed with the game, I finished it today and I'll be trading it in later on. The story is terrible, I honestly think one of the clickers could have come up with something better than this generic trope riddled monstrosity. I didn't care about Ellie OR Abby, just two bits of crap with different coloured glitter. The gameplay was mind numbingly dull, 10 minutes of gameplay followed by either an overly long cutscene, or an hour of going round and round a larger map finding crap to craft neccesary things with. Take away the wandering around all over picking up bits of scissors and the game itself would be around 7 hours I bet. The awful doom music everytime you got into a combat scenario got so annoying too, as did the silly noise whenever someone was close to spotting you (seriously it's relentless even when you're in cover) The combat mechanics were better than TLOU1 but not much, it felt very last gen, as did the gunplay which is Uncharted 1 levels of awful. It's not a bad game by any stretch, but neither is it the 10/10 masterpiece so many sycophantic pseudo-intellectual reviewers paint it as with their pompous waffles. It's a decent enough stealth game at times with a garbage story, awful writing, horrible characters and gameplay from the last gen. The only thing it really excels at is the graphics, sound design and voice acting. The rest of the game is simply mediocre truth be told. Would I recommend it? Only a deep sale, it's not worth more than £15, luckily I'll get most of my money back in trade - I feel for players that bought it digitally.

PS5. First lets talk about the negative reviews. Because this is what ruins future games.
As of now, the trophy for completing the game stands at 11.8 (very rare) meaning most "critics" have yet to actually complete the game. And some don¨t even know what the game is actually about.
Over at IMDB a user wrote "it was worse than the previous 3 games".... Others were mad you dont get to choose

    The game is gorgeous.
    Has great gameplay.
    And lots of playtime.
Resident Evil 3 remake has a 6.4 score. Thats for a game that added nothing new to the original and with an average playtime of 2-3 hours.

ND: Thanks for the game. Its wonderful. And I¨m sure there are plenty of people busy actually playing the game rather than making fake reviews. So we look forward to the next project.

Story is truly good and full of emotional moments, there are a few problems with the scenario, but it can be forgiven, gameplay is exciting, world is beautiful and has a lot of details. It is one of the best games on this console generations an the best PS4 exclusive in my opinion.

Incredible game, the atmosphere, pacing, characters and story were all fantastic. My only complaint is that parts dragged on a bit, so some combat felt a bit artificial, but otherwise the pacing was great and I really enjoyed all of the “downtime”. This is what gaming should strive for, immersive storytelling at its best, and still one of the best looking games period.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
