    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really appreciate that Naughty Dog did not just go the safe way and make a game that will please all the fans. I understand that this alienated many but the result is a piece of software that will stay very unique for a long time. Even if I was shocked by many of the events in the story and did not like all of them, I have to give a lot of credits to the developer for making me feel that way. It's a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end credits roll.

    Gameplay and audiovisual design is of course stellar. The game feels very polished and offers a fair amount of challenge.

    I understand that not everyone is happy with how the game ended but at the same time, I think is unfair to rate it so low just because you did not like it.    … Expand

    I gave it a one instead of 0 because the art and atmosphere is great, but besides that the rest of the game is garbage. Acting is flat and, story is predictable and boring, controls feel sluggish, lots of poor audio and in general it is just a pretty picture with nothing new to offer.     A bigger problem than the game, or the divisive issues it tries to instill in us, is the media and critics and how they prop up content like this and straight up lie to our faces for their own selfish reasons. We can't forget that ultimately they work for us, the critics and the developers, they work for the people who buy their products. Do you think critics are buying these products? No, they get it for free and just shill their products so that we buy them.

    The truth is, if we really wanted to get our point across there is only one way. We have to ignore them and simply act as if they don't exist. Even hating the products and spreading outrage is enough for these cretins to continue doing things like this since outrage sells. Imagine if they release the game, no one complained, and at the same time no one bought it. That would really be the only way to stop these things from happening.

    Just a prediction, but I suspect we will see a part 3 that is even worse.    … Expand

    The gameplay is similar to the first one with a few tweaks for the better. The story is actually really good, the only problem with it is that it was spoiled so people knew the big spoiler without the context for it. I love this game. It is better than the first one.

    The characters from the last game are unrecognizable. The new characters are not likable on any level. That on itself could be excused if the plot was worthwile which it unfortunately is not. It's like the #1 priority was to write something unexpected. I am dismayed that this was made by the same studio that made TloU1 and the Uncharted series. 3 points for the graphics and servicable gameplay.

    I've beaten this game 3 times already, I don't get the hate. Enjoyed it more than the first game. The story is bold and the gameplay is much improved over the original.One of the best games of the year.

    Overall this is another fantastic game by naughty dog. I do agree that the second part is not nearly as good as the first, and some of the story elements feel very forced to fit a very obvious narrative.

    The writing isn't anywhere as good as the first game, and today's political environment is interjected into the game without much thought on how it could impact the tone of the game.     I'm not one to post reviews often but I'm compelled to add my opinion after playing through this game over the weekend hoping that things were exaggerated. I feel that a story driven narrative needs to have both relatable characters and compelling story to tell which both are lacking in this game.

    There is no doubt that the engine that was created is impressive and that the game is visually beautiful. That is what earned the 3 points of my review. If nothing else, this provides an even better reason not to preorder games and instead wait for a proper reveiw.

    If you want to know what the story is, I would watch a stream which at least provides you the option to fast forward through all those points where it is a test of your mental fortitude just to proceed..    … Expand

You kill off the character dynamic that made the first game so good for the sake of a revenge plot. Then, you let the person go? Huh? ???????????????? Are you dead in the brain?     This game delivers on graphics sound design and all other technical fronts, the actors also did a great job in delivering their assigned roles so props to them as well. Unfortunately, that is not enough to save this game from very low ratings. The story clearly was tailored around a certain political agenda and it is apparent that many of the positive user reviews are just bots.

    This game began by rubbing me up the wrong way, I'm sure many of you will have read reviews from former fans who felt slighted by the opening acts. But as this story unfolds and we delve deeper into the circumstances behind our protagonists actions, I can't help but applaud naughty dog for the direction they took this game in.

    Games like that move the industry forward despite the hate and bigot resistance. The tone is darker, the scenes are well directed, combat is intense. It's not "fun" to play but it keeps your interest till the end.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a tremendous achievement by Naughty Dog with the Last of Us Part II. Improving on the gameplay from Part I and amping up the cinematic elements has created one of the great swan songs of the generation.

    While not quite as good aa the first game, there are many elements to this game that eclipse the first game. Larger environments, more playstyle options, interesting lore, and the continued emphasis on environmental storytelling means players get their money's worth. The game would be a 7 or 8 alone based on those elements.

    The much maligned story isn't perfect, particularly with pacing. Naughty Dog would have been better suited re-arranging the days of Abby and Ellie to match up. Playing as Abby for the extended period of time was a nice touch, I just didn't like the placement in the game as much. We get to experience the life of someone who is really not so different from Ellie. In a different world, they may have even been friends. The interesting part of the story is that there truly isn't a "good guy" and "bad guy". Both characters are deeply flawed while also being very redeemable. Even up to the very end I was not sure who I wanted to live or die, and that's a testament to the writing and voice acting.

    One other minor issue that makes this game a 9 instead of a 10 is that the game is perhaps 5 to 6 hours too long. This game would have benefitted from a slightly shorter playthrough to make it a more toght experience, but it's nowhere near the level of egregious as a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 in which the entire island sequence could have been cut out and the story would have been unaffected. These minor critiques aside, I highly recommend playing through this game. Its engaging gameplay and story about how revenge and hatred can consume a person's life make for an enjoyable experience that should not be missed.    … Expand

    The first game challenges you in its last moments to ask yourself who is good and who is bad, so does this game, and reinforces that in this dark, cruel world they live in, no life is treated as more special than another.

    This game is bold, beautiful, and presents conflicts like never experienced before. If you can only look at this game through a shallow lens, you will hate it, but if you allow yourself to become immersed, you will find yourself experiencing a journey you would have never expected to be taken on.

    I think in some areas, this game does fall short. At times, the story is forced into directions that the player wouldn't necessarily want. I can tell how Neil Druckman was trying to subvert the audience's expectations and I commend him for that because him trying to do something different is so much better than him just providing us a cookie-cutter, bland narrative. I felt myself relating to certain characters introduced in Part 2 and I wish instead of continuing to introduce new characters, Naughty Dog would've instead focused on a select few characters that I actually cared about. The structure of the narrative could've been better, but I appreciate what Druckman and his team were trying to convey. After spending about a week after I completed the game to think about the narrative, I've been able to think about how Abby and Ellie are on two sides of the same coin. It is definitely better than people are giving it credit for. Do not believe the intense hate that most online reviewers are giving it.
    The gameplay in Part 2 is absolutely fantastic. The animation is seamless, the gunplay feels realistic and weighty, and the fighting is so brutal. Words do not give the game enough credit for the amount of work that went into this game. Just for the gameplay alone, I would recommend it wholeheartedly. To put it briefly, the game looks and feels perfect. The detailed environments are immersive and the character models are equally wonderful.

Its two stories which go way beyond the basic conflict driven by the ending of TLOU1. Its not about LGBTQ rights. Its not about whether you "like" the characters, or even about whether you feel uncomfortableI am taking a point off for the game play really not having evolved and Naughty-Dog's insistence on adhering to its usual formula.     Graphiquement on va pas épilogue ça se passe de mot faut y jouer.

    La bande son tjr parfaite, encore plus dans les moments de jeu bien tendu Gustavo était pas le seul sur la bo.

    Le sound design est affolant de maîtrise c est parfait.
    J'ai l'impression 30h en survivant difficile.

    Mais voilà le plus bouleversant reste l'histoire les personnages du grand art.

Graphically good but a game that has added pretty much nothing new to the original (gameplay) apart from an over convolution of sjw/pc story telling which basically destroys any story arc. The detraction from the story by woke politics throughout the game completely ruins any story telling and makes it unbelievable and unbearably bad...

    People who can't make a good story should have no business making a game that's heavily story oriented. Killing off your main character in a way that is without the least bit of honor and then making the player play the game as your main character's murderer is utter garbage.

The story beats justify themselves throughout the game and are not "JRPG level" complicated to wrap your head around. It's a narrative that pushes the player in directions video games are often reluctant to go but "bad writing" is a pretty flawed accusation paint it with. MC should dump any user scores posted within 10 hours of this games release if it gives any value at all to the player score.… Expand

    A game that brings all human feelings. Love, hate, affection, forgiveness. The Last of Us Part 2 is more than a game, it is a masterpiece. Very beautiful, fast paced combat and a story that makes you reflect on many aspects.

Not really understanding all the complaining about this one, outside of the review bombing day one from people that didn't even play it. Graphically, it's beautiful. One of the best looking games I've ever seen. The attention to detail is second to none. It's a very immersive experience. The gameplay is nearly perfect. It's similar to the first one and improves on it in every area. The characters are well written, and their motives make sense. Ellie's decisions can be frustrating, but she's a teenage girl that just had the most important person in her world taken away from her. What do you expect? Same thing with Abby. If she was the main character from the beginning, nobody would blame her for hunting down and killing Joel. He murdered her father and people in her group, and stopped the only chance the world had for a cure. And as far as the ending goes, it would've been pretty disappointing if Ellie did end up killing Abby. Do people not understand what character development is? She finally lets it go and moves on with her life. I loved the way it all came together. Hopefully there's a part 3 where Ellie goes off to find Dina. It looked like that might be where she was headed in the final shot. But overall, it's a great game. Definitely worth playing.… Expand

    When the leaks hit and the director started screaming at people on twitter that if they didn't regard his work was a masterpiece or they're bigots... that's when I decided I'll rent it first from Redbox. Meanwhile dank memes flowed on subforums, and Sony hired third party goons who sent out illegal DCMA takedowns against youtubers and redditors. That made the trolls even more determined expose The Last of Us 2 for what it was. They even used super harsh embargos on pre-release/view copies while sold-out media jurnos gave it 100%s for fear of being blacklisted by Sony.

    Sad to say but this game is beyond tainted. I'm done with anything Naughty Dog or Neil Druckmann related. I couldn't stomach The Last of Us 2 after the first hour in, and thanks to the garbage people involved with the project, I didn't want to give it a second chance. This has been an embarrassment for the entire industry. Nothing stunning and brave about rushing this out just in time for "everything is gay" month of June. The disgusting portrayal of this patchwork abortion doesn't do the original Last of Us any justice or its fans what so ever. I'll give it a 1 out of 10 for nice graphics, but they couldn't even get that right since they never hit 60fps. Two thumbs down.    … Expand

    I loved the first and now I loved this game just as much, if not more. It does something truly unique plot and story wise. Even if it's not what everyone wanted, it's at least something way more interesting than what I suspect people wanted plot and story wise.

    I thought I'd actually play and complete the game before posting a review. The gameplay is excellent (but linear). The story is probably the area that most divides people.     Just buy it, and enjoy it as a video game and nothing else.

This is a bit of a fallout of joel and ellie.. again.. sortve.. its complicated… a game that hops all over timelines all the way back to the day joel decides his 2nd chance at being a father outweighed a potential cure for humanity… theres fighting theres pain, theres regret.. theres loves, theres forgiveness, theres hopelessness.. every emotion you could imagine, the last of us part 2 smacks you with.. however its just not an enjoyable game to play through…
    Here youll have a chance to play as joel, but barely.. youll mostly play as ellie and a new character abby… both on a revenge mission…and of course with ellie branching out and you playing as a new character, last of us part 2 introduces a whole new cast of chracters.. and theyre all awful. Every last one of them… this is the most unlikable cast of characters In recent memory.. and in a game all about story.. characters are important.. I even ended up disliking ellie one of my favorite characters in video game history by the end of this game.. heck even within the games first few hours of about 20… shes become such an annoying hipster.. and while this aspect of her fades the darker the game gets… other aspects of her come out that just ruined that character for me… but to the actual gameplay… the last of us part 2 is some of the most fun stealth in a game ive ever played.. this feels much more like an assassins creed game and less like a resident evil like the last game… even the infected are easier to deal with.. in fact this game in general is more accessable and overall just easier for better or for worse… and the world here is filled with the most detail ive ever seen in a game, leterally every square foot of this game is filled with unimaginable detail, and load times here are near instantaneous after dying… it blew my mind numerous times.. however I feel like the passion put into world building and detail crafting was all for none, as the last of us part 2 quickly becomes repetitive bore.. you constantly juggle climb through buildings, crawl through grass, climb through buildings, crawl through grass with the occasional surprise like a museum or aquarium, but it just becomes so painful to play at times because of how bloated the last of up part 2 feels… it took me 3 weeks to get through this game, just because id lose interest so fast while playing… thankfully the final few hours of this games we get some fresh variety, but a game like this that does nothing new has no business being beyond 15 hours.. it just doesn’t..
    stealth, collect, craft.. you know.. you played the first game.. it’s all the same here just more fine tuned, but with such unmemorable levels.. they all blur together with only a couple of stand out moments.. and I just expect more from a naughty dog game…

    The Gameplay hasn't changed pretty much at all from the first one. Not the most robust controls in this era of gaming, but the thing about Naughty Dog games isn't ever the Gameplay. It's the stories they tell. It's still a little clunky, but nothing difficult to work with. If you hated the gameplay and don't want more of that then I'd recommend passing on it, but I recommend it to experience the story alone.

    This is not a perfect game by any means, but the story will make you ask questions and leave you thinking. In that Naughty Dog executed wonderfully. The story is completely divorced from reality, pandering to flavour of the month "woke" politics instead of progressing from the original. This game will be forgotten, unless you need an example of the fall of a once great game. I got a refund thank goodness, sorry to anyone who couldn't.

Story of the sequel makes the original become pointless and they force you to care for new, plain characters underdeveloped. Most of them I bet have seen the leaks and are basing their judgements over that. play the game and you'll see the brilliant story, gameplay and absolutely stunning graphics this game has to offer. 10/10 for me

The game has potential but screwed the pooch majorly by having everything happen at the wrong time. Why should I feel sympathetic to a dog I killed 12 hours ago? Or a character I murdered in roughly the same time? Why are you trying to make me like Abby when she murdered Joel in front of us, let the rage sizzle for 14 hours, and then try to convince us that she's relatable and likeable? This game would have been amazing if the story would have just panned out right, but honestly, the game just feels like it was mashed together in a hurry without the tinder care and planning of the first, and is just using the name of the first game to try and get it through.

    For all the people giving this game a 10/10 I have to ask, would you even care about this game if it wasn't a sequel to one of your favourite games? Does the story actually feel smooth and beautiful to you, or do you just want to love it because you don't want to tarnish your love for the series? I seriously thought about giving this game a 0/10 just to combat all the people who I really think aren't giving their honest opinion about that game in order to keep the idea that their favourite game's reputation wasn't tarnished, or who loved it just because it showed LGBTQ+ support, or think disliking the game automatically makes you seem like a bigot, but I'm going to give my honest opinion.

    Now for the positives, the graphics are beautiful, and this is one of the most accessible games of all time. I'm nearly convinced I could go blind and there would be some option that would allow me to play the game, but other than that I'm honestly disappointed. This was not an ideal followup to one of the best games of all time. If this was any other game, it would have just been an above-average popcorn game that people would have forgotten about in 2 years. It felt a bit like a home walkthrough, something may catch your attention here and there but uneventful for the most part. Getting away from the story is one thing but this story took zero effort. They could’ve made this game about revenge and still had it be good if they gave two sh!ts about the story writing. It’s as if they were secretly purchased by EA or Activision to capitalize on their last hurrah. It’s as if Ferrari decided to totally destroy their brand by putting out garbage of epic proportions, mind-blowing. It took 7 years for this?!?!     The worst part of it all is that, at the same time, this game brings us the very best representation of diversity in the history of the industry, and one to match the very best accounting for all forms of art. It's a feat for the history books, a gift for mankind. Also the boldness to write such a very deep story, bringing a game to a new level, honoring this form of art.

    But the fact that suspension of disbelief, the very most important fundament of this kind of art, is completly detroyed half-way into the game, transforms it into a simpleton arcady flick for half the time you will be playing it. In the end, its a game that's brilliant because of story and immersion, but that is rendered null half way into it, leaving you with the same feeling you would if you left the theater in the midlle of a movie you love.

Se você gosta de histórias felizes e fica irritadinho quando acontece "tragédias" em histórias, então passe longe desse jogo, porque como eu disse ele não foi feito para agradar e sim mexer com você.

    I'm not critical or anything, so I'll be very straightforward in my analysis. The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the best games I've played in recent times, the level of detail in the animations, facial expressions, graphics and history is impressive! The only game that comes close to / equals his level is Red Dead 2, they’ve worked really well here. The amount of detail sometimes borders on perfection, facial expressions and animations deserve to be highlighted here, I didn't believe it when I saw some things happening. About the story I will not comment much to not give spoilers, but one thing that does not make sense to me is the clueless criticism they are making, saying that the game is bad because of a detail in the story that did not please, it seems joke. The Last of Us Part 2 has a super heavy story involving revenge, it is much heavier than the first and is far from being a bad story, in fact it is great and the characters are also. His story was not made to please, it was made to be good and to mess with the player. You will feel anguish, anger, fear and a lot of emotions at the same time, it is inexplicable what they managed to make me feel while playing. If you like happy stories and get irritated when "tragedies" happen in stories, then stay away from this game, because as I said it was not meant to please but to mess with you.    … Expand

    Amazing gameplay and visuals, big step up from the original. Honestly incredible what Naughty Dog has been able to deliver on the PS4. Worth a play through for sure

Such a beautiful game with so many different areas/sceneries to visit along the way. The way it was written was amazing.. pacing the action with the story at different intervals and interweaving a beautifully tragic narrative. They didn't have any other choice than to go down this path. If they kept Joel & Ellie as protagonists going forward, the game would be like any other game... boring, repetitive and almost a carbon copy of the last 20 years worth of action gaming narrative. What naughty dog has done is create a wonderful epic that I thoroughly enjoyed. Both the gameplay and storytelling is to be commended. I'm in awe!… Expand

    This game is not a 5/10 game everybody knows that. The only reason I can imagine is that several people voted without playing it over. There are ups and downs during the story (not in quality but rather in frustration), but as a whole it is close to the prequel. It is a must for everybody it the first part. Doesn't even connect to Ellie at all futher in the game when you play her so what's the point. Empty and hollow story writing. Who the f*ck is Abby anyways and why do I care. Ellie didn't even finish her job in the end, just half *ss ew cringe revenge story plots where everything gets throw in the f*cking mud. Not even a good kind of revenge.

    The only good about this game and graphic and game play improvement.
    But you paid fake review scores to big company so you deserve a a big ZERO points from me.
    Naught Dog more like Naught Lies. What a waste of my f*cking time.

    After 30 hours, I finished the game. Wow, what a ride! I don't think there has ever been a game that asked so much of my emotions...It was truly intense.

    Pros: - Atmospheric and emotional story - Beautiful detailed world. Sets the benchmark for other games - The most brutal game I have ever played. Dealing damage makes you feel like you hate the other guy - Looting feels meaningful    After 30 hours, I finished the game. Wow, what a ride! I don't think there has ever been a game that asked so much of my emotions...It was truly intense.

    The biggest reason why i ended this game was gameplay - its the best 3 person shooter on the market right now, just pure joy to play this game. Animations, sounds, level designs, weapon impact and customization its 10 out of 10.

    Fantastic gem. This gane needs to be protected. I loved every minute of it. But not everything was peachy. Sometimes it felt too sad.

    This game managed to fool me big time. It brought me back in time when I was a kid and had much brighter gaming experience. For that trick alone I would give a 10. But there are also incredible graphics with a ton of details, atmospheric locations and disgusting ( in a good way) story.

Instead of playing as the main protagonist in the series, you were forced to play as a new character (Raiden) for the entire game.     Eu não era muito fã do primeiro The Last of Us em especial pela jogabilidade limitadíssima com o Joel. A jogabilidade melhorou bastante no segundo jogo. Em especial por causa da esquiva.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
