This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game today (06/26) and cried a lot, not because of the story but because I waited six years for it and remembered how happy I was when I saw the trailer at E3. Well the first thing that frustrated me was the level designs. In the world of The Last of Us Naughty Dog showed us that unforeseen events happen, after all the world is in pieces, buildings fall, few resources but as a player, I felt that they happened a lot to increase the gameplay time in TLOU 2, for me this was very clear and they didn't need to extend the game like that. I would prefer to see how Joel got so different from what was shown in TLOU 1. To summarize a little, I felt that I did not know the new Joel and did not know what made him let his guard down for strangers who were close to Jackson. I agree with his death and I believe that it really gave meaning to part two, after all, he killed and destroyed several groups on his journey with Ellie, but he was not even cautious with those people he met (Abby's group) and it broke my experience. Moving forward, I felt very tired with the gameplay of the game, in many ways the gameplay from the first to the second is improved, the crawling part is very interesting and matches well with the style of the game, the player sees each object being placed in Ellie or Abby's backpack and despite being a small detail, they make the game look real. However, I spent hours going through infected, scars, and WLF without feeling the reasons to do that mainly in Abbie's gameplay, the island part of the scars was a deplorable example of that, and the part that Ellie went after Abby. Honestly, I didn't want either of them to die, despite having to make a big effort to like Abby's plot since he was depicted without emotion by the scenes and art direction. I really loved the fact that Ellie and Abby had mirrored sufferings, that would be much more interesting if the deaths of the loved ones were portrayed with impact by the writers. The Last of Us Part II has an identity crisis, tiresome gameplay for the game itself to make the player go from side to side to have more hours of gameplay. However, the plot itself is extremely dense and interesting, but for me, the way the situations were put together was confusing, with no impact when they should have and badly developed characters emotionally. Greetings and Salutations everyone! It's everyone's favorite doctor who can write prescriptions and plays what the kids call video games and today i'm going to review one of the best games I ever had a chance to get my grubby mitts on-The Last of Us 2!

Greetings and Salutations everyone! It's everyone's favorite doctor who can write prescriptions and plays what the kids call video games and today i'm going to review one of the best games I ever had a chance to get my grubby mitts on-The Last of Us 2!

First off, I would not rate this game a 10, id probably give it a 9.6-9.7 so very close but not quite there. Anywho, I want to say this game starts off hot with a straight emotional gut punch that I definitely didn't expect. It gave me a dejected feeling like some of my all-time favorite TV shows and movies do. Was it something that I wanted to happen? Absolutely not, but by doing so I knew I was in for a hot-blooded, distinguished experience that has never struck such an emotional response during my 30 years of playing video games.

The other thing that made TLOU2 such a transcendent experience was its set pieces and whoa nelly where these amazing! While Telltale's season 1 of Walking Dead may rival TLOU2 in pulling on your heart strings, the set pieces in this game has no such rival....and its not even close. There were times while playing where my kisser fell to my gullet and I just pondered to myself, "Gollie, I will never forget that, that was awesome as PETE!" If there is perfection in a game, these set pieces were it, especially for us survival horror fans. Now I played my whole first playthrough on survivor so my experience may have been a bit different than other humans but there were moments where I would be running for my life, barely surviving and getting through by the skin of my taint with a pinch of luck thrown in there. What's is even more impressive is there are 6-7 of these experience. Most games can't produce one experience half as heart pounding in a trilogy of games so the fact that TLOU2 was able to do it and keep doing it throughout the game is mind-bogging and sensational.

Finally the last thing that made this game stand out above all other games was the fact that it could keep all the combat encounters unique. So many games eventually start to feel the same, after 5- 10-15 hours, even the really great ones, but TLOU2 always changed up elements to make the fights feel uncommon, I do wish they would have had more human vs human vs monster experiences. The few they had in the game were incredible because you never felt like you were safe plus you could turn monster(yes I know "monsters" have a real name that starts with a C but i'm to lazy to look it up) on your human enemies which was wildly satisfying!

TLOU2 also is a beautiful game, it's well written and acted and extremely detailed. Its also a very polished game on day 1 in 2020 considering the size of the game, I think I only had 1 glitch where I got stuck under a deck of a building. Also its load times are a 10/10, very little wait times between deaths on PsPro-take notes Star Wars Fallen Order. The story isn't quite as good as the first game and the ending wasn't very satisfying but overall this is one of the greatest games I ever played in my life! I love it!

Also I'd like to point out, this game seemed to receive over 150k zeros within the first 24 hours of the game being released and IMO those people rushed through the game and did not take in the gameplay or story and reflect on it so they could give it a subjective score. That is what had to happen because the only other thing that could have happened is all these people never even played the game and just gave it a 0 out of spite, fanboyism or bigotry and homophobia but i'm sure that is not the case because that would just be petty and insecure so I probably should not have even brought that up I apologize for even suggesting it. Bad Dr Lee!

Anywho, i'd suggest buying this game in a hot second, its not perfect but its like no game I ever played, fun as the dickens and way ahead of its time, or simply put...an all time classic!

We see Ellie going after Abby with a clear intention to kill her and avenge Joel.
Ellie is full of pain, guilt, anger, and a sense of terrible loss.

She goes for a killing spree without any second thoughts.
When she finally gets to face off with Abby she clearly is defeated but spared because of Lev’s intervention.

Ellie then tries to forget the whole story and let it go by moving in with Dina and JJ, hoping they will fill the void inside.
But she still suffers from panic attacks and keeps seeing Joel’s crushed face.

When Ellie goes after Abby for the second time and finally gets to her she witnesses how tortured and exhausted Abby and Lev are.
She tries to simply let them go, but sees Joel’s disfigured face again and decides to finish Abby off.

While strangling Abby she sees a flashback of alive Joel with a guitar and it stops her.
(She actually remembers that whole flashback we see at the end, where she says she will try to forgive Joel)

Ellie then says, “Just take him”, referring to Lev.
She realizes that Abby and Lev are like Joel and Ellie before and that the actual murder will not bring her peace, it will just leave another kid without a ‘parent figure’ and perpetuate the cycle of hate.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Doubtlessly the best game I wish never had been made.

The first installment in this series is one of my favourite games of all time and I've long lost count of how many times I've replayed it. Thus I was enraged when I suddenly had Joel beaten to death on my screen. Hell, he was like a father to me. An on screen father, but still. Anyhow, at that point I couldn't keep playing. My hands were shaking and I couldn't think straight. All I knew was that I hated the game and Naughty Dog. That I probably should brake the game disk in two and send fungal spores to Naughty Dog. But in the end I realized that I hated someone else even more. Abby. The b*tch who broke my heart.

So I decided that I might very well brake the game disk eventually and write a bad review. But not until I had my revenge on Abby and all of her loved ones.

For a few hours my hatred burned too hot for me to enjoy much of the game. Dina felt like a nuisance and all dialogue and interactions not directly related to my search for revenge felt pointless.

Then there came flashback. A memory of Ellie, Joel and some dinosaurs trying on hats. And that's when the grief truly hit me. A flood of tears dampened the fires of hatred and suddenly I could feel again. Not much, but enough to take in the world again.

A few hours later Dina turned out to be pregnant, and suddenly I felt a tiny bit of something for her too. Not that I liked her, really. But that I wanted to keep her safe. Protected. Just as Joel had kept "me" safe for the previous game.

Anyhow, from there on I really enjoyed the game. It made me realize how pointless hatred and revenge really is. Because in the end, you only give someone else reason to hate you as much as you hated that someone. And on it goes.

To sum things up this game was an emotional roller coaster. Terrible, dark and painful in ways I've never experienced in a game before. Or in any other media, in fact. So, yes, this is a great game. Even though I would have been happier if it never had been made.

I will not spoil anything here as the less you know the more you will enjoy it. What I will say is that the story is not afraid to take risks and is far better off for it.

But of course this isn't just about the story, it is about the gameplay and everything else in between, it is all top notch. It runs very smoothly, combat encounters are tense and memorable. The kills are brutal and you will often hear screams of agony and enemies calling out names, which adds to the realism and immersion.

It is also very violent, you can almost feel Ellies hatred when she kills people involved in a horrific incident early in the game, I love panning the camera around to Ellie when she is taking down an enemy from behind, you can clearly see the hatred etched on her face.

Some people may disagree with the direction the story takes and some of the actions taken by the lead characters, but I personally feel very pleased with how the story panned out.

Every single environment feels incredibly detailed, I was desperate to explore everything I possibly could, there are plenty of secrets to be found as well as quite a few Easter eggs. This game demands exploration and I genuinely felt saddened when I realise there was something that I missed.

I cannot recommend this game enough, you may have heard people complaining a lot about the story and yes it is divisive, but I think it is much better because of it.

I finished it 2 weeks ago and have not been able to stop thinking about it since.

    A must buy!!

It's likely due to the halo effect that most don't connect with the characters or their motives. The writers try a little too hard to force an agenda, yet there is an ugly side to humanity as well that we try to avoid and instinctively abhor. If we accept that what's shown in the game is possible of any of us, then the plot is easier to stomach.

The storytelling itself is acceptable. The writers do manage to help you bond with the characters. At the end I found myself sympathizing with both the protagonist Ellie and antagonist Abby, as well as their companions. If the game had a little more light, most would give it an 8. But the plot is dark. Really dark. The characters do redeem themselves at the end, but that is too little, too late.

Gameplay: Same as always. Not much difference compared to the first game. Combat is a little more fluid and exploration a little quicker, but basically the same. And by that I mean entertaining. It becomes repetitive, but the game isn't long enough to get you sick of it.

Graphics: Much improved over the first game. Textures, detail, design, are all a step above the originals. But that is to be expected. The previous game was a made for the PS3. Wouldn't say that it's amazing though. But there are some portions deserving of praise, such as the character facial expressions and how natural the character's movements are.

Voiceacting: Perfect, 10 out of 10. The plot might not be perfect, but the characters told the plot as best they could.

Overall, an acceptable plot, Good storytelling and fine everywhere else. 8 out of 10. If it were a little brighter, it'd have been a 10.

This is not a game for our snowflake generation, who likes to live in a fantasy of everything being happy and nice; expecting our heroes to do the right thing all the time.
Last of us 2 is a piece of art, and the goal of creating art is not to impress, but to express. Kuddos to Naughty dog for making the tough choices and showing us how flawed human beings really are.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, I finished The Last of Us Part II this morning and was left with emotions. I felt really sad for Ellie, ended up all alone, like Joel once was... I kinda agree with the ending, Ellie sparing Abby's life because Naughty Dog was going for an ending which didn't feature a useless nature of cyclic revenge and also if you think about it, Abby got what she deserved. Death wouldn't have been worth it for her. She learnt her lesson the hard way. Well I know we all would've loved it if she had killed Abby ofc lol but having this ending doesn't feel bad either. Ellie has always been a kind and strong character and they showed it. Like they say, "The best revenge is forgiveness" since that is a much harder thing to do. This sequel shows the reality of life, how the world has changed into this chaotic crap.. so a gesture of kindness can change certain things.
I always loved the message Naughty Dog portray with their games, like with Uncharted series and now this. Both Nathan and Ellie WANTED something but at the end, they got what they NEEDED. Inner Peace.
I was so happy to see the last scene of Joel and Ellie on the balcony, I kept thinking, Joel never got to talk to Ellie and she was being a **** to him but it all went away with that.
Moving on, the gameplay was so top notch, I never had this much fun playing a videogame. Naughty Dog has really hit it off with this game. Even the graphics. I recently got my platinum for Uncharted 4 and noticed so many little details that I missed on my first playthrough, it was such an amazing game and now with The Last of Us II--they have set up the bar even higher!

People review bombing no way beat the game real people like us are just now beating the game now and it took a solid 2-3 day and nights straight to do so, I feel like my heart's strings have never been pulled harder and people jumping at spoilers to make judgements have no clue. This game gave me heavy resident evil vibes in the best way that the first never truly pulled off. The boss fight with Abby was straight out of RE:Nemesis and maybe Im the outlier here in that by my time was over with Abby I DID empathize with her SO strongly and honestly at the final fight let her kill Ellie just to see if there was a cannon ending for that. I really was not expecting to like Abby and from the first day in Seattle with her it felt like a slog but something about her, maybe the voice acting, maybe the ultra hard shielding around her heart that she had so strongly that made her so Hateable for many, but Relatable to me. We all love Ellie because we saw her grow up, and I know it was intentional writing, but Ellie pissed me off more than once and it's because I was really close to a few girls who acted just like that. Abby showed multiple times a certain restraint and maturity that Ellie couldn't understand untill she literally lost the ability to play her favorite tune. It was tragic. I truly was surprised myself that by the end I wanted them both to win, though I knew they had already both losses, so, so long ago. It was a masterpiece. And many people may never know it, they will judge this game off many other things, and the gameplay itself is superb in stealth and A.I.

Once again I wonder or possibly doubt it's even possible for them to continue this story again, especially with Ellie. But I have absolute faith and excitement for anything that may come. At the deepest expense of my emotional reserves. The HBO show that supposedly is happening could potentially turn this into something even greater. But as it stands, this is another turning point in video game narrative, and the the risks may have been obvious, (especially living in a post Game of Thrones world) I think we can all agree that the execution was nearly flawless and The Last of Us 2 has stuck it's landing.

The game tries too hard (unsuccessfully) to make us sympathize with a character that we absolutely cannot forgive. I think Naughty dog can fix the problem with the story very easily. First, get rid of the 10 hours of TORTURE with Abby and give the players a choice to kill or not kill Abby. That's it. OR at least show Abby being conflicted about killing Joel (cuz he saved that **** and get rid of the torture if you want the player to sympathize with her.
    Detailed Review :
I would firstly say that the graphics on this game are the best in any game ever made period 10/10. The game-play is 90% the same as the first game so its great 9.5/10. The cinematography was amazing as well as the background score 9/10. When you play the game you will be amazed by the how detailed, realistic and phenomenal the world looks. The attention to detail is amazing! the grass moves realistically when you move on it, as does the water, each NPC has a name which their friends call them when you kill them and soooo much more. Naughty Dog has always delivered in these areas.
The biggest flaw in the game is the story. The game present you with a despicable character (Abby) who tortures and kills Joel main protagonist while another spits on his corps. This does what its supposed to do, this builds up extreme anger in you towards Abby. So for you the only purpose of the game is to take revenge. You travel a long and fun journey to get to Abby. But when you do get to her, the game Forces you to play as this uninteresting character for more than TEN HOURS! during these 10 hours your only thought is to get it over with so you can finally kill Abby. But THEN the game MAKES YOU fight the only likable character left (Ellie). After you've beaten your favorite character and her pregnant girlfriend half to death and killing another friend of hers. You Finally get to play as Ellie for a short while and see that she has a good life and then the game makes you play as Abby AGAIN! Abby gets caught by some psychos, you leave to kill her for good this time, you catch her, you almost kill her and then...U don't. Because, you only wanted to kill tens of innocents for Joel's death but not the one that killed him. U get back home to find out that Ellie's girlfriend is gone as well. End of story.

After taking the time to actually play the game properly 35 hrs! Storyline is very good and traumatic! Did drag a bit towards the end but the set pieces was stunning! the haven wow! And very emotional to see a character trying to move on with PTSD! Any review that was posted in 19 and 20th June had no way of completing a 30+ hour so should be ignored play the game it is a master piece!

The gameplay mechanics we're largely untouched, I was hoping for deeper upgrade trees, but the last of us is about story telling, which was done incredibly well. If you can make me hate a character in the beginning, but then flip things to where she feels like the protagonist by the end, that's excellent sorry telling. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve been searching for people who suggest other storylines after claiming that it was « bad writing ». Every single one I read worked. And it was a satisfying story. A comforting one.
Writers didn’t choose that path and that’s precisely what makes that game a **** masterpiece.

Pretty much everyone acknowledged the quality of the level design, animations, visceral gameplay, sound design, music, lights, particles, physics, good timing for hints, believability of characters gear, storytelling through environment, and incredible attention to details in general.

So what seemed to polarize people is that they feel forced to root for, or at least forgive Abby. One of the main angle of the series is that there is no hero. They pushed that idea further.
They didn’t just try to humanize Abby, they showed you behind the scene of factions and around what values and codes the organize and survive.
They constantly question you about the worth of revenge, but also personal vs collective motivation. And since every time you’d root for Ellie to bash the skull of anyone who hurts her, the game reminds you that you are no better than any of the characters. The story doesn’t try to satisfy you, the gameplay does. The story plays with your ethics and empath by constantly shifting the point of view.

To address another thing I've seen many ranting about is that at no point they force any sjw stuff down your throat. They live in a world where people have to survive extreme threats everyday so a girl might look like a slender teen boy or be jacked like a mma fighter who don’t give a **** about conservative/progressive view on norms and canons. The focus is on the characters motivations and not what they identify with.

Final point about the writing, every character has a unique presonality, gimmicks, an accent, all this incredibely well conveyed by the actors. If acting is reacting, this is to me the best example to date in a game.

So I genuinely don't understand the hate. This is good writing.

This games punches to your guts just after stabbing you in the same spot, and nails every detail of it.
    So again, it’s a **** masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything aside from the beginning of Abby Day 1 was sooo well done.
Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson give the performances of their lives. Everytime Troy Baker's Joel appears is an incredible moment of delight and this story teaches you to dwell with how far one goes and what terrible things one commits in the pursuit of injustice to those which are close to you. I am so incredibly happy that this game was able to handle this discussion expertly and maturely. By the end of the game, I ended up sobbing. Not because I wanted Ellie to kill Abby, or vice versa but because I had seen these characters experience so much suffering that you just wanted them to stop. 'When you're lost for the darkness, look for the light'. I am forever grateful that Ellie found the light at the very end, even if it cost her, her largest fear. Ending up alone. The production is insane, the sound design is insane, the music is beyond me. This is the best step that video games have taken to prove that this medium is the best out there, and we can tell stories which deeply impact us. If by the end, you think that Joel's death wasn't done right or that he deserved a better death, then I am sorry to say that you haven't really understood or Naughty Dog failed to communicate to you how unjust death, life and this world is. No one is ever ready for the death of a loved one. It's never right, and it always hurts. When you lose someone, you can surely lose yourself. Everything is so good. (Some of the pacing, while I could understand, didn't rub me the right way. Abby Day 1 intro in particular. I think that they could've had the truck ride lead them over to the camp to meet Isaac instead of taking the whole long detour since the player isn't going to be paying too much attention because of the shock value of realizing you're playing as Abby for 3 days)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Extremely controversial game. A lot of misandry and tons of feminism. Story, writing, direction and characters are garbage. On a technical level it's perfect, amazing graphics, gameplay, sound design, soundtrack and cinematography. One of the most hated, controversial, spiteful and sadistic characters ever does something horrific, unforgivable, inhuman and unacceptable in the beginning and it sets the tone for this miserable and bleak journey and destination you have to go through for many hours and grind through to get to the conclusion.

Sympathizing and empathizing with a vicious ruthless murderer is not really a concern of mine neither is playing as that person for the vast majority of the game (You play like 50% as Ellie, 49,9% as Abby and 0,1% as Joel a brief horseback riding no combat or anything). Joel is widely known by real gamers and fans as one of if not the most legendary and beloved characters to have ever existed in video game form yet he gets treated like crap here.

Ellie sides with a rude, ignorant and a jackass hostile bartender in a dance (who tells Dina that she is a lesbian in a very vulgar and an attacking way) over her father figure, protector and savior Joel. Side characters feels very much like filler, I didn't care for Jesse, Yara, Lev, Manny, Owen and Mel. Dina is helpful and probably the only character who isn't completely mentally unstable. Tommy is as reckless as ever and is a lot like Ellie in this title vengeful and hateful.

Some cameos were neat and some funny minor characters hop into the plot but don't serve a lot of purpose other than cannon fodder for the so called "hero protagonists". Ellie guilt trips and berates Joel a lot in this title for no reason other to give him past trauma and making him feel low about himself. You can tell who Naughty Dog wanted you to root for and think who's a monster even if it's completely untrue, false and a lie.

Odd romances, uncomfortable and an awkward sex scene that happens in a boat after Abby tried to attack and potentially kill Owen over an argument and a disagreement they had which turns into a heated lustful banging because Owen pulled Abby's braid. No nudity shown except for Abby's and Owen's nips.

Almost feels like forced sexual abuse (maybe rape) on Abby's part, completely takes advantage of Owen and she makes him at the same time cheat on his pregnant girlfriend secretly, discreetly and be disloyal to her without Mel ever knowing. Mel discovers nothing about it when the story is finished it's never talked about. That's something only a horrible and an unlikable, terrible and an egotistical person would do. It's weird.

Similar romance happens between Dina & Ellie early in the game except they are partially clothed private areas covered and Ellie forgets to be on watch and patrol for walkers and unwelcomed strangers (like Abby's group) because of it. The intimacy is very forgetful. The writing is very confusing and doesn't make sense a lot of the time.

Shock factor plays a big role unfortunately which is most of the time lazy writing considered especially when it's been overused to the point that media shouldn't be using it as much at this point. Almost every male gets treated badly in this and is either shot, brutally murdered or used as bait courtesy of Neil Druckmann. Combat is improved from previous game, upgrading is an unique addition to your arsenal and polishing your weapons.

Cinematography is fantastic almost to no cuts in either cinematics or gameplay itself. It's very fluent. Graphics look amazing and realistic, feels like watching a live action movie it's beautifully made. Gustavo is incredible on the banjo as usual and most of the sound design is very cool and often shocks you at how good it is.

For a sequel it's massively disappointing. They changed way too many things in the narrative and the fact that they have the audacity to take out by far the best character in the first 2 hours of playing is insulting and disgusting to the fans and the players who have anticipated this sequel for years. Naughty Dog shot themselves in the foot in the worst possible fashion and kind of ruined this franchise for a lot of folks. If there's a Part III coming up I'm not terribly interested mainly because of how they treated a beloved heroic character from its predecessor.

Neil Druckmann is a beta cuck who needs to look himself into the mirror and think "What have I done?" or this series is buried deep in the ground regardless of how great Abby and Ellie are doing. It feels nonsensical, disturbing and cruel to do this to a loyal fanbase and supporters of the company.

So many questionable things about this game and a mixed bag overall. Many positives and many negatives which leaves it in a mediocre dramatic completely over the top package. If they don't remake this game properly I'm not interested in continuing in a third part. They can't just pretend nothing happened here and ignore everything.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never expected storytelling to be so good in a game even after they killed off one of the most loved characters in such a brutal fashion and made you play as the killer only for the player to empathise and like the killer. Naughty dog has done such an amazing feat utilising every inch of power in the playstation to make a perfect ending to this console cycle. story aside, you can tell Naughty Dog poured their heart into every aspect of this game. The animations and attention to detail are on another level down from the individual actions when upgrading guns down to the blood realistically pouring from a wound after an intensely grim fight - the gore and violence are on a level of their own. Combat arguably outshines the narrative as the AI and additional features make such a brilliant difference that no fight is ever the same. The atmosphere is expertly done due to the soundtrack reflecting each scene perfectly as well as the voice acting from each character, Naughty Dog did intend to make the violence more real and make the player think about their actions and I believe they have done so very well, not only from story moments but, even just stealth killing supposed "bullet fodders" you can see the desperation both in Ellie and the enemies in their expressions again, it's these little details that flesh out every enemy that add to the game so well.
Back to the story, so while I was intitially seething that they killed off Joel so quickly and the fact that we play as Abby through the second half of the game, I grew from absolutely hating her and her crew to growing fond of them and actually liking her. Lev and Yara i guess, added a little to the story but, in my opinion it felt like a rehash of Joel and Ellie but even so, Naughty Dog conveyed their relationship quite well in a way that didn't rip off from J&E. I love the way the story tied up in the end and going back to my point where I reversed my opinion on Abby; it was to the point where I believed Ellie was the villain and that is why this game gets a 10 from me. Not only from the amazing graphic, animation, sound, gore etc but the fact that Naughty Dog reversed my opinion on a character that did the most heinous thing that could be done to a fan of the series through their storytelling. It's a game that has to be played and not judged solely on leaks and what others have said.

Although, if I'm being finicky and to make sure others do not see this as biased, the stuff that I didn't like or wasn't a fan of was the framerate drops which occurred a couple of times thankfully it did not take away from the experience, pacing was a bit over the place.

Actually I would argue, that most people who have played the first game, would call it a "feel good" game, despite the dark universe and the gruesome events the characters had to endure.
The Last of Us Part 2, has no feel-good moments, it goes darker then any game has gone before, and it keep hammering in the same points again and again. Hate generates Hate!

Personal I feel The last of us (1) is one of the best games and stories ever told. I fell the Last of Us part 2, could have been just as awesome a game, if not for the choice to force the story on to characters of the first game. And I hate the game for that.
They could easily fit the story on to new characters, as the initial reason for Hate, is so generic that it does not matter from where it springs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A gente é forçado a odiar a Abby logo no começo do jogo. E somos obrigados a refletir.

The Last of Us Part II é uma obra de arte.
E como uma boa obra de arte, faz a gente pensar. E nem todo mundo está disposto a isso em um vídeo game.

All of these things just serve as a device to appease a group of people for positive well timed marketing and have no actual place in a highly rated piece of art, which this is not.

Some "professional" reviewers have been saying ignore user reviews, but that's not helpful, and seems they are looking to assert their own perceived importance as "official" mouthpieces rather than be open to discussion.

Explore all the options, including “accessibility”. Try increased movement / aim sensitivity, and set camera distance + field of view to max. I was regularly adjusting brightness to see clearly in the (many) dark spaces. The flashlight does not treat your eyes kindly, and for such a long game, this can be painful. I understand this is the world, but I wish developers would be a little more considerate of players’ health.

Do not play this on Normal or Easy. I wasn't going to play twice, so chose Survivor: You can not "run and gun” – it will play more stealthily, with limited resources / ammo. It was not too challenging, although a few of the bosses did have me dying a few times. When I succeeded it was rewarding. Enemy AI is poor, especially later in the game. I often just made noise or killed one, hid, and drew them all towards me.

Those whining about political correctness / sexuality need to get over themselves. Some comments aimed at the other new main character are totally unacceptable. I enjoyed seeing the story from different perspectives, although it could have been streamlined without sacrificing the narrative. Some of the new characters were quite flat, and others interesting. One explicit scene on a boat I think could have been cut and was overly in your face; a subtle approach could have achieved the same effect. There are some sweet moments, although few and far between. The game is extremely violent, but I was actually expecting it to be worse. At the end I wasn't left feeling cheated but wish the gameplay had been pushed further.

You can break glass, climb ropes, swim, and lie flat, but it does not challenge any established systems. Why not let Ellie or the other character befriend a dog + direct its actions? More NPCs in the world who you can interact with? Mini games other than the guitar playing, like carving wood statues, drawing, fishing, playing darts? Yes, it's the story of you surviving in a world that has fallen apart, but there is definitely more scope for inventiveness. Levels look great but layout is simplistic.

Enemies are not very interesting. The infected could have taken more shapes / sizes. The only one I found frightening were the "stalkers" who hide and creep up on you. Bloaters and Shamblers look nearly the same, and a boss near the end of the game is just another larger version of other enemies. Human enemies are similarly passable. The much talked about name calling lent a more comic aspect than any sort of empathy for them or their dogs (who also don't feature often).

Visually the game is impressive, and art direction is generally excellent. There is some variation in environments (snow, beach, forest, city), although I would have liked to see more of this + a shorter game so you can better appreciate the time spent in each location. Characters and animals look very good, and detail on clothes and accessories is excellent. Concept art is interesting, as it shows how final characters differ from their original designs. I did encounter some glitches, but not too many.

The game is an "on rails" experience; you are guided through it exactly as the developers intended, with very little room for your own input. Your only real choices are whether to play on easier difficulties and gun everything down, or play on tougher difficulties and play stealthily. If you are not a closed-minded bigot, then there is something here to enjoy. The gameplay can feel lacking and linear, opportunities were missed to make it more fresh and varied, the story does drag on, and some non-playable characters are flat, but overall I am pleased I "experienced" this. I'm not sure if I played it or it played me, but it's an interesting experiment in the medium, and a fine way to end this generation of consoles.

Lots has been made of the ending, with many people offering simplistic views. In the final scene, look at the expression on the character's face. There is a moment of realisation. It was not "all for nothing". It's not good defeats evil, but the characters end up at peace with themselves, after suffering so much, and what could be more of a victory than that?

Extras = disappointing. Just concept art + character models. Not good enough. The models are nice, but the art isn’t exciting. Should be included: Ellie’s journals, viewable directly from the main menu after you complete the game. Behind the scenes / “making of” videos. And have the guitar playing parts unlockable too, with the ability to select the location in the game where Ellie finds them to practice in. Wouldn’t be difficult to do that and would be cool to have it accessible from the main menu.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is surely a technical top end of this generation. There are a lot of complains about the story, but I don't agree with that. There is so much more behind the story, I loved Abbys storyline. My only problem is that it is maybe 5 hours longer than it needs to be and chapters would serve the story better in another order. The story, plotting, its characters have a lot of objective flaws and is really bad. The irrational decision-making by the characters is comical, and the story not being logically consistent with its characters and their personalities from the first game is insulting to fans. Also, the characters are thoroughly unlikable. The ending is completely pointless and fails to provide a satisfying payoff for all the stuff that came before. On a personal note, I don't like how incredibly violent the game is and how evil and stupid the vast majority of the characters are, and how you're forced to actually take control and carry it all out without any kind of agency to make a more positive and hopeful future for yourself and the world's characters. Lastly, I don't know what kind of moral this game is trying to impart on the player and I don't know who needs to hear that message. It isn't profound like the writers think it is - it's the moral of a story that would come out of an episode of Sesame Street.

PS: I am a lesbian woman, so I am not a trans-phobic or gay bigot, and I am not a virgin. If you think this because you simply disagree with my opinion about this game, then grow the hell up.

They took a bold direction that mirrors a huge issue happening in America right now, hate, division, and a lack of empathy for the other side. Without experience, divisiveness is easy. There is no light without darkness though. Just because the writing goes in a different direction than expected, does not mean it isn't great. Some of the best dialogue in any video game ever can be found here. The writing and acting is incredibly nuanced. There is subtlety and depth that you can't find in other games to this level of professionalism. The themes are dark, but there are beautiful glimpses of hope, joy, and perseverance.

Even if for some reason you just can't stomach the story, there is no denying that the gameplay and the graphics are amazing. I have a fairly high end PC , and no game touches these graphics even on the relatively weak ps4 pro. RDR2 comes very close, but this has set the standard. There is a level of photo realism that blew me away. At 30fps I never noticed. Naughty Dog are wizards at optimization. Movement is weighted in realism, yet buttery smooth. Zero bugs on my playthrough.

The level design is top tier. The environments create an immersive experience that is hard to match without VR. Stealth creates tension, and when all hell breaks loose, the chaos of running through fixed yet open areas creates a uniqueness to everyone's playthrough. The survival element is visceral.

One of the greatest games of all time.

Anyone who is affected by the narrative choices that Naughty Dog made to the extent of labeling this game as "bad" is either immature or didn't play the game to the end. I will start off with the good aspects of The Last Of Us 2, the graphics look really nice overall. There are moments where a bit less detail was put into them (Like snow falling off trees) but as far as games go, the graphics are solid.
The reason i have given this game such a low score is as follows: (Warning Spoilers ahead)

I was devastated that Joel was killed off, i was not only upset in the badly scripted way in which he was killed but how early in the game it happened. It's like Joel's character was such a different person from the first game. Of course humans change, but they really REALLY changed his character. He went from someone who was cautious and savvy to someone who blindly follows into dangerous situations.

As the game played out i was happy to see a gay person was being given some love on screen. Its nice to see my people in games, but the more i played, the more it became clear this wasn't Story first, sexuality second, it was full-blown IN YOUR FACE GAYNESS, the type i smell a mile away, the type that has an agenda behind it. I felt sick how badly this will set us back in the real world.

I feel the game has a totally different team than the original classic game and i was correct. I feel the old team were booted out, in favour of a more inclusive team, (Not better.....not even as good, just inclusive) which in layman's terms means people given a job based on their pronouns rather than skills. It means that us gamers suffer in the long run as you find stories suffer for it, and 9 times out of 10 have an agenda behind it.

Do they think they are helping us gay people? because they most certainly are not. Have they seen the backlash on here, twitter and youtube? This game has single-handedly set gay people back years and made thousands of people homophobic as it seems big companies are playing favourites to gay people over just being fair. How stupid can they be? This is not how you win people around on our struggle.
The last of us 2 plays every card it can to upset anyone who isn't gay. I was so upset seeing gay people having sex in a way that just seemed bent on inflaming the gamers that paid so much money to play this political nonsense.

I looked deeper tonight and found out that lead dev Neil Druckmann made the work environment hostile so that many of his team left. I feel this was a tactic to replace an excellent team with people he feels fit his politics. I went on to see Neil talking kindly about a well known far-left activist and anti-men YouTuber who has made it her goal to make sure games are diluted down, where everyone is gender-neutral and plain looking. Where men are feminine and women are always empowered, especially gay people and people of colour.

I would not be so harsh on this if it wasn't for the fact that these far-left activists always infiltrate already establish games and force identity politics into them like a plague. They would not have the guts to make a game from scratch as no one would buy it, but with an established game the fans are guaranteed to purchase it by the millions no matter what.

Shame on Neil Druckmann for treating the fans this way.
Shame on Neil Druckmann for treating gay people are pawns in his agenda.
Shame on Neil Druckmann for trying to silence people speaking out about his political game.

and shame on everyone complicit in making this game, I am disgusted in you. You do not represent me as a gay person. You have an agenda and i want nothing to do with it.
Your game is a total mess, the story is weak and has ruined, totally ruined such a beautiful first game. But of course none of you would understand that as you didn't make it.
I rate this game 4 out of 10. Graphics and sound are nice. The story and gameplay are terrible.

Not 10/10, but not 0/10 either. TLOU1 to me was never that great masterpiece like others claimed it to be. So I have no fanboy or hater dog in this fight. The good is that the graphics and animations are cool. The overall gameplay nothing of major innovation. Even though ND had a seven year hiatus to think of and develop better stuff.

As this is a story driven game that wants to play on players emotions for the characters in the first game. The set up for Joel doesn't work, because Joel does some very un-Joel things and it breaks his character. As for Ellie she seems to have learnt nothing from the first game. So both Joel and Ellie don't develop as characters. They both regress and in a unconvincing way narratively.

The ending has all the build up and no pay off. Which makes me think oh no not a direct sequel to this? Or maybe another DLC cash grab later to wrap things up?

As for the new playable character Abby the way she dropped in the time line of the game really didn't help us the player get behind her in any way. As for the emotional manipulation with dogs seriously fts. I have been attacked and bit by a large dog to the point of hospitalization. So in my case I have more PDST than feels for attack dogs on Ellie case.

As like the first game more miss than hit gameplay, but with weaker characterisation and story this time around. The gameplay was never the hook or draw with this series. It was the story and characters, but this time they failed to deliver on the meat and potatoes story. Leaving us sipping on the gravy game play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How do you create a game which is visually excellent, has open world game play, crafting, riding on the coat tail legacy of a popular predecessor, with beloved characters, and turn it into a 4-5 out of 10 game; simple, give your audience the middle finger with an insultingly bad story line which seeks to subvert expectations for the sake of doing so, with no regard for enjoyment or satisfaction of your end user customer. The story takes a huge dump on the characters that were loved in the first game.

The previews of the game are misleading when compared to what was actually released, giving the impression that both main characters would feature prominently in the game only for one to be needlessly killed.

The only thing saving the game from a score under 4 is that the actual game play and visuals are pretty well done and high quality.

The ending is also a complete disappointment with perhaps the most unsatisfying end which I have seen in a long time. It makes me ask the question; what has happened to an industry that deliberately sets out to disappoint the player? They knew this would anger people and yet went the way they did anyway.

The story. Jesus Christ the story... To put it nicely it ruins the first game, just takes a huge poop on it and makes it irrelevant essentially. Rife with boring and unlikable characters. A dumb "woke" plot trying to force the message down your throat that murder is... Bad I guess? That revenge doesn't get you anywhere? An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind? You know, basic platitudes that you learn in kindergarten. Basically it throws the characters and the reasons you loved the first game in the garbage, all in the name of some social agenda. It's moronic and pandering. The only reason Naughty Dog games are great is because their characters and story, and they *really* dropped the ball here, to an *EMBARRASSING* extent. 7 years of work on this game for nothing, 7 years of hype and waiting for nothing. Save yourself the $60, there are a lot of games coming out this year that will 100% be worth the money.
