Naugthy Dog doesn't surprise us with the graphical quality which is good but not amazing. The gameplay isn't surprising either, it's improved on some points but is amputated at the level of puzzles, for example. The surprise actually comes from the scenario which wants to show the stupidity to succumb to violence and thus to start a circle of violence. Unfortunately, as much as the basic idea can be good, it is badly executed... Between clichés, ridiculous characters and other jokes, I had troubles finishing this opus and besides, I should have stop before the end which is just laughable. Expand

Overall this game doesn't deserve the 1-5 scores that it gets as there are far more worse games out there that deserve that score and also $60 and somebody complains about the 20-30hr game time? But games having 3-5hrs and they charge you full price is "ok" lmao.

Do i recommend it? Of course, buy it on full price, wait for a sale or borrow a friend's copy then form your own opinion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. El juego es bueno, la historia no es mala pero todo encaja porque debe ser así. Se nota que hay un aleccionamiento en todo el argumento. Abby es muy buena porque así debe ser y si ha matado es por una guerra y en la guerra se vale todo. ¿O no?

It hurts to see the hate for this game, but after playing I can see why it’s expected. Many controversial things happen, none of which I have a problem with. This game in my opinion, is slightly below the first game. Which I would give a 10/10. The reason for this is simply because Joel provided a certain charm, which was missing in this one. The Last of Us 2 had top tier gameplay, with many emotional moments. I would continue to go in more depth, but I have far too little time to do so. My best advice, is do as Troy Baker stated and go in with an open mind.

I waited for this game for so long and was disappointed by it so fast.
The gameplay is too repetitive for such a long game. What NaughtyDog introduced as new gameplay mechanics for the main playable character looks ridiculous or is removed in the second part of this game.
Beloved characters from the first part are washed down the toilet. They are really dumb down to move the plot further

Graphics, animation, and music on the other hand are superb, the only good thing in this game.
This is a story-driven game with a really bad story. In the end, it was all for nothing.

First of all to get things out of the way Tommy had already said Joel's name to Abby since he is more innocent than Joel so, that is why Joel said his name, it's not bad writing, Abby already knew that he was Joel so it wouldn't make sense if Joel refused to say his name. People can't deal with a story where the main character doesn't get the revenge. I bet everyone who rated 0 when they started playing Abby's side though "I will kill her so I will not hear her side of the story" resulting in not liking her, so when Ellie didn't killed her they got really pissed of. I guess people can't have a different game, they like when everything is predictable

Visually it is the best looking game on the PS4. You can tell the amount of hard work and attention to detail that has gone into making this game look stunning. The lighting in particular is next gen and I truly believe will be a benchmark for other triple A titles to hit.
The soundtrack was noticeably absent for a lot of the game. When it was present it had the familiar feel of the first game, but it was hardly present. there were still some fantastic scenes that were made by the sound and music direction, but they are few and far between.
Voice acting was on point throughout the entire game. Cannot really fault it.
The Story! Oh dear lord this is where it gets very tricky. Thematically, it should work very well but it sadly falls flat. Many of the characters introduced in this game I just don't care about. They have somewhat fleshed out stories and history, but sometimes they just feel kind of unnecessary. This is also meant to be a story about revenge and how it can become all consuming, a message that the game constantly throws at you. The problem to this of course is that in game we have no choice but to try and enact our revenge. there is no 'Spare the life' option of any of the human enemies you fight. the only option there is, is to either continue playing the game, and have it try and make you feel bad for the decisions you are making, or stop playing the game altogether.
The game is also too long. A few times came natural stopping points for the game, a final showdown if you will, but trying to end the game there just gets you the 'game over' animations and throws you to the start of the encounter again. It just feels weird to play through it! I cant go into too many details without posting spoilers, but for a game that heavily relies on the story, this does fall quite short. I think it would have worked better as a 3quel or maybe a couple of separate games as parts of the story are disjointed. Either they had two many ideas and tried to cram them all in or the story was changed late in production as some of it just doesn't quite fit.
Overall the game is great to play and I couldn't put it down. But that seemed to be in spite of itself at times.

It's nearly 30 hours if you take the time to explore everything, but could have easily been cut down to 20, especially when you consider the last chapter was completely unnecessary and did more harm than good. The gameplay is fine, I enjoyed the survival and crafting mechanics especially at higher difficulties. Hardly any replay value but I might play a new game+ then stop at the halfway point. That said, I personally really loved this game! I did not read any reviews or the leaks or anything, so I went into it blind as can be, and it was shocking and brutal and I loved every second of it!
This game really made me think about who all these people are and what their reasons and motives are. If you want a game to blindly shoot and kill stuff, just play something else! There's a lot of story here and things that can be quite hard to stomach. It's definitely not an easy game to just play and have a good time with. It's a game that will haunt you forever, in the best ways.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely loved this game. Didn't read the reviews until I'd finished to avoid spoilers and I'm stunned at how half the internet seems to have it! The storytelling I thought was so clever and original. Initially when we went back a few days and relived the story as Abby I just couldn't wait to get back to the confrontation but seeing everything from Abby's perspective and seeing the hurt Ellie had caused really made me question whose side I was on.

Joel's death was gruesome and horrendous, but Abby was trying to find vengeance for her father in the same way we had come to understand Ellie was. I was glad at the end that Ellie spared her. It seems there's no good guys and bad guys in the post apocalyptic world, just different shades of loss.

Basically, I think I felt all the things the writers wanted me to feel and I wonder if maybe it was easier for me because I didn't play the first game (I just watched a recap on YouTube) so I wasn't quite as emotionally attached to Joel and Ellie as some other may have been.

Story aside, so much of the game was immersive and visually stunning. Escaping from the scar island under the burning debris was incredible, as was much of the dark immersive parts with infected coming at you from nowhere, and the intensity of the sniper scene where you feel angry when he kills Manny only for you to then discover it's Tommy.

It felt like a level of storytelling that wouldn't be possible in a film and for the first time in a very long time I was disappointed when the game ended and I wanted more.

I really don't understand all the negative reviews, this experience was completely epic.

It beats you in concussive jolts you don't wish to strike, the alternative choices you desperately want these people to make, and through the entirety of the journeys of 2 characters who are, in the end, 2 sides of the same coin. Both look into the darkness, but one is hoping to find the light of grace that was taken from her, and the other wishes to find it in the eternal shadows that would have given her existence meaning and sense. Both mock religious martyrs, but that is exactly what they become...except both are martyrs to a congregation of one in their own empty temples. The other characters, in fact, the whole word preaches to them, but they are like Trojan soldiers when Cassandra spoke. They hear, and ignore, the prophet's dire warnings of war without end, and victory at all cost...and cost it must...especially when all one hears from the plaintive, well-spoken advice of street wise prophets is babbles and baubles. Hence, why all logic is spoken from a theatre with a marquee bearing the name "Cassandra."

This isn't a game one "plays". You don't "control" these people. You're along for the ride with the same knowledge of an audience that watches a Greek tragedy. It's an immersive dive into a virtual experience of dramatic irony played out as an epic elegy and a dirge. It speaks with somber poetic prose and sings out a mournful lamentation in its soundtrack, dialogue, and the pulpy violent narrative that knit it all together into one experience. This game is like the bifurcated tale of the Greeks after the fall of Troy, 2 parts of one of humanity's grand armies searching for a home, or an idea of it, that no longer exists. One makes it to home's warm embrace. One is perpetually searching. They both ache for what the other has...but have no idea what to do with their own mad kingdoms when they are the last ones standing.

In the end...all the kingdoms fall when the furies rage on and on and on for revenge amidst the rubble. Eventually, all that rage and rubble is pulverized to dust...and blows away, carried on the wind of forgotten songs captured in music beaten mercilessly into stone for the ages, but left no mercy for the memory of how the songs were played and sung. The song fades into its own drowning wind, letting go of the nostalgia of what was, and leaving the hollow, hopeful ache of what might be. I have no idea how a goddamn video game made me think and feel so much, but the artistry of it all is not meant to be understood, but experienced.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is beautiful, probably the best looking game on stock PS4. The animation are sometimes a little off and there are a few bugs here and there but overall, it's way ahead of most of the games on this subject.

Music are almost non existent which is a shame since the first game had some nice ones.

Gameplay isn't bad but it's very simple, just an updated copy of the gameplay from the first game which was OK in 2013 but already not memorable. The reason people still liked the first game is that the gameplay wasn't that important, what was important in TLOU was the writing, the story, the characters. And this is where it gets ugly.

One character aside, the cast is dull. You couldn't even describe the characters otherwise than by saying "it's that guy wearing a hat" or "it's that Asian looking guy". The characters aren't badly written, they're not written at all. Oh, my bad, Ellie is written : they gave her tons of hobbies to fill the void in the writing but it simply doesn't work. You can't be a good guitar player, song writer, astronomy expert, comics nerd, good drawing artist, hand to hand combat expert, pro sniper and bow shooter all at the same time. It's ridiculous and it doesn't make her more real, that's just pure failed writing. Also, the way she talks with Dina make them sound like they actually lived in the "old world" which is even more shocking since the fact she was so clueless on the subject in the first game was so evident in he conversation with Joel.

All the good ideas from the first game in terms of rhythm and storytelling, like the short and almost entirely playable introduction are gone. Now you have to endure long and useless scenes where you can only walk ALL THE TIME and the game takes forever to really start. Most important events are badly timed, they happen too soon or too late so they have almost no impact on what you feel. The game completely lacks that feeling from the first one where you feel like you're there, in the game, living the same adventure the characters do. Instead of that, it's like you're watching people you don't care about act from far away. Plus some scenes are so bad, so outdated, they feel like a Seinfeld episode in term of directing.

And what about that stupid idea of forcing you to play with the antagonist for HALF THE GAME. Yes, everyone understood why, it's so obvious you can't misunderstand it, that's not the issue, the issue is that it's a stupid idea. That's not what the players were told, they were all thinking that this game would be TLOU but with Ellie as a main character which is not the case. They lied to the players, pure and simple. On top of that, you can also add that the game is long for absolutely no reason (the story is so simple and the gameplay so limited, you want the game to end after like 10 hours) which makes this part of the game even more boring.

Let's not forget "the message" the game is trying to push on you. It's so obvious, so awkward, so contradicting, cringe and illogical, it simply doesn't make any sense, the writer obviously wanted to do something deep but failed to grasp the gist of it resulting in a really stupid conclusion.

The Last of Us is one of my favorite game ever. When the second one was announced, I tried very hard not to get my hopes up because I knew making a sequel at least as good as the first one would be difficult. I avoided all spoilers and drama but even with all these precaution, I've never been so disappointed by a game. This is a unexplainable and unforgivable waste.

I gave it 1 because I acknowledge all the hard work the 3D artists, devs and such put in the game but I can't give it more because TLOU2 is abysmal compared to the first one.

It’s astonishing the story the game tells in a way the utilizes the medium in a way I don’t think would be effective in other mediums. The game’s use of perspective in telling the story is incredible and makes for some of the best story telling yet in gaming.

All this while having engaging and fun gameplay mechanics that keep you in the world in a captivating way. Well done.

If you want to play a stunning example of the pinnacle of technology and story telling in video games play this. Never felt so attached to the characters in a video game since the first one. Cant wait to play through again.! Great job naughty dog

Last of Us Part II is definitely a Masterpiece as it pushes the boundary of game animations & world design. The gameplay is similar to the first game but improved, so if you liked the gameplay of the first game then you will like the gameplay. Another huge improvement is in the world design, even though a linear game it never feels like it as you can take different routes to reach your destination. You can follow an optional path & find extra goodies as a prize for your exploration. This game rewards greatly for anyone who takes the time to explore the world and the world created by Naught Dog is absolutely outstanding. Most times I would just stand & stare at the details & beauty of this world. The only negative I have is with the story, I understand what they were trying to do but unfortunately the execution was badly delivered. Also the pacing could have been better. I have put into over 40+ hours into this game with finally getting the Platinum trophy. If you can go with an open mind & see for how everything else in this game is absolutely stunning then you should definitely get this game as a PS4 owner. I really enjoyed my play through with this game, it was something very different & made me think more than what a game should make me!

I've been a huge fan of TLOU and ever since Sarah died in the original game I've been hooked. I was quite skeptical in regards to a "part II" since I felt that there was no need for a sequel. There was also a lot of negative reviews here on metacritic that worried me greatly, but now that I've finished the game, there was no need to worry.

Graphics: Ranging from large beautiful landscape scenery to grim foggy forests and run down cities this has got to be some of the best work I've seen to date. Also the amazing facial animations are best in class. Without a doubt 10/10

Music/voice acting: The music is still amazing. Emotional and it enriches the mood/story. If there is one thing that rings in my mind when thinking about the original game it's the sad hopelessness that ringings out on a string instrument. You know which tune i'm thinking off. If you don't know, play the original and come back. The voice acting seem natural and all the actors are doing a great job much like the original. 10/10.

Gameplay: The game mechanics are very similar to the original and will feel very familiar if you played the first game. Controlling the characters is a little "clumsy" at times. There was a couple of fun new upgrades and weapons. Enemy AI is much better with regards to flanking and attacking you strategically, but its way too easy to lose detection. What bothered me most was the AI off teammates who sneak around to avoid detection, and in so doing, bumps into you and cause yourself to be detected. This game does not feel like the perfect 3rd person shooter experience, but neither is it designed to do so. Sneaking and strategic attacks are the main route and the main focus is the story. Gameplay 7-8/10.

Story: This is a very controversial topic. It will leave fans heartbroken (me included) and hence some of the negative reviews. It's without a doubt on of the darkest stories I've experienced in a game. ND does a great job of portraying the harsh post-apocalyptic world and the most gruesome sides of human nature. This is portrayed in many ways e.g. torture and murder. It shows Ellie's loss of humanity as she desperately seeks revenge even giving up on her life dream. They do a great job with controlling the tempo of this game. You have slow relaxed parts and you have action filled sequences, but you know that you're never safe and you've learned to never let your guard down so you're on edge through the whole game. 10/10.

Lastly, do not believe the immense negativism that is associated with this game. The negative critique is most likely written by people who have nothing to do with the game (e.g. anti-LGBT) or but*hurt people who can't come to the acceptance with the nature of this horrific post-apocalyptic world. If you played the first and enjoyed it, chances are high that you're going to like this one as well.

Although there is aWhen leaked and reviews came out I honestly ignored them until the game came out. Knowing the game will get bad reviews after a huge raid of ant-SJW YouTubers calling it a trash game due to the game having an ounce of sexual and gender ambiguous characters. I honestly didn't care because I usually focus on how well the characters are written NOT simply what they are. Although there is a massive share of reviewers who actually criticized that game and honestly respected their opinion on the game's fundamental issues both in a narrative and gameplay aspect.

Me entering the game a few months after release and not including the controversy hinder my experience. I would say this game is above average in a gameplay standard and narrative standard. This game has a better and revised combat system compared to the first, it felt like the game conveyed me to peruse a moment when I had to take out a group of enemies. I can continue going in stealthy or if I possessed an adequate number of materials I can go for a good gun fight. During my playthrough I always had the chance to go out guns and blazing, killing dogs and scouts of a place I needed to progress to. Alternatively, I chose to take the longer route because the stealth mechanics of the game were too good to pass on at a moment on fear and adrenaline due to the number of enemies.

I've said this before, in terms of the games narrative it is tolerably good, not great but it is good enough where it is above average. Playing as two leading characters is genuinely a worthy choice when it revives a game that focuses on revenge seeing both sides of the story taking place after TLOU I. Filling in on what we've lacked during these years as how our favorite father-daughter duo has been doing. However, as we go into the infamous character Abby, known for her masculine physique as well as other things I can't say because this is a non-spoiler review. However, what I can reveal about her head shaped muscles is that it really shapes her character and the theme of revenge. After a critically significant event from TLOU I, Abby sought revenge on the Joel and Ellie, joining what remains of the fireflies and constantly training and preparing until her time is to come. After Abby got revenge Ellie went on a revenge quest on her repeating the same story beats as Abby. Showing a parallel between the two and how they accept their own definition of the word "revenge". While both apparently lost during their quest for revenge we need to comprehend the difference of curving our expectations and doing good and doing it poorly. Narrowly because the story fell in somewhere you didn't expect and you didn't like is an unrelated matter compared to a lack of character and story development. Although where the game left off left me unsatisfied when it came to the result of both main characters I understood why it left off mainly because the ending definitely wants you to make you reflect on how these events occur and how the characters continue after. All analytics aside if you're not into the story the gameplay with undoubtedly carry the game for you.

I'm giving this game an 8/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A flawed masterpiece. It’s not the story I necessarily wanted but it is the story Naughty Dog wanted to tell and I respect that. Dark, overbearing and often bleak but at the same time one of the most memorable and thought-provoking experiences I have had in a game.

Naughty Dog chose to bet everything on succeeding in making the player switch elegance from Ellie to Abby. To have the entire premise of your game rely on this happening is both brave and deliberately divisive but for me it just about worked. Being forced to play as a character you hate or having your character do things that you desperately don’t want them to do is a bold departure from what we have come to expect in many modern games. Player ‘choice’ and player ‘freedom’ have become the de facto gold standard leading developers to deliberately mislead players with choices that are in fact meaningless or to insert superficial ‘alternative’ endings where only one was ever intended. Having the confidence to stand by their narrative choices, no matter how unpopular, should be celebrated and ultimately I feel it remains faithful to the ending of the original. To play a game where you don’t get your way and your expectations are deliberately ignored makes for an often-difficult experience but one I found engaging and worthwhile.

With all that said, this is not a perfect game. The story works hard to portray Abby’s narrative arc as overtly positive and this comes across as unnecessarily heavy handed. I strongly believe it was a mistake to leave the first confrontation in the theatre as a cliff hanger while you play through Abby’s story. Wondering why Abby didn’t kill Ellie would have been the driving force for her section. Instead I wanted to rush through and find out what actually happens, making Abby’s section feel overly long when it really didn’t need to. The game should have also done more with the journeys between Jackson, Seattle and Santa Barbara. The extended road-trip feel of the original turned what was otherwise a string of inconsequential and unconnected events into a coherent narrative. The Santa Barbara section was such a welcome and refreshing change that it made me lament the lack of variety and structure earlier in the game.

It goes without saying that the animations, locations, sound design, and overall artistic presentation of the game is peerless. This is the most beautifully realised world every made in a video game and will be the high-water mark for games going forward. The game play iterates on the original rather than revolutionising it and after seven years it still felt innovative and enjoyable. Systems have been tweaked and levels of complexity have been added which all come together to create an incredibly visceral experience. That said, there were things the original did better. Game resources are too abundant and Abby’s weapon set felt limited compared to Ellie’s, taking away some of the ‘just surviving’ feel that made the original so great. I also missed the varied environmental puzzles and although locations are refreshingly open to begin with, they become progressively more linear as the game progresses.

Taking everything into account I maintain this is a flawed masterpiece. It will drive discussion for years to come and was an unforgettable and thought-provoking experience that I feel deeply conflicted over. I don’t think it was the best story that could have been told but I do respect it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The spoilers are slight. I hate to see so many people rating this off of emotion alone. Same kind of reviews as for The Last Jedi. “They ruined Luke/Joel!” “It’s full of SJW garbage!” “Plot holes! Plot holes! PLOT HOLES!” on and on with oftentimes such limited explanation of the plot holes. I recently played both games for the first time and found this one to be about as good a sequel as I could’ve hoped for. The controls are slightly refreshed and made for a bit better of an experience, the visuals are gorgeous, with only a handful of bugs, and the dialogue is pretty well written. When it comes to the story, I found it ambitious and very admirable that we were given the chance to play as Abby, showing somebody who has lost everything and how they got there. I loved the idea of parallel stories with 3 Seattle days each, and I personally found the emotional connection to Abby come a lot easier than it should have. It’s a very, very dark and despondent experience, but as with the giraffes in the first game, there are the smallest glimmers of light. I can claim a few flawed character choices and a (personally) questionable, somewhat gratuitous but ultimately sadly satisfying fourth (?) act by taking a point off, but apart from that, I thought it was a very dynamic and emotionally heavy story that really deserved being told. I would suggest keeping an open mind when playing the game for the first time, and trying your best to give consideration to the environments you happen to find yourself in. It makes playing the game a lot more worthwhile. If you’re “anti-PC” or any variation on that, just don’t play it. Your hatred of the identities and behavior of certain characters will bleed into your opinion of the game. It’s abundantly clear to me that this community is far from ready to embrace certain things seen as “unfamiliar” to it. There is ONE trans female->male character, Abby seems by all accounts to be cisgendered, and there is a lesbian couple. These details play somewhat strong parts in the story, so maybe avoid it if you wouldn’t like to see it. I cannot speak on whether the representation was executed well enough, but it hardly bothered a heterosexual cisgendered white male. Stop review bombing on both sides and, like I said, just try to keep an open mind. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly don't understand why this game is getting so much hate. I think that the story is amazing and extremely engaging, although a little too long, and I don't understand why the death of Joel causes fans to hate this game. Though loved by the fans, not all the in-game NPCs have to love him. He is not a hero, he is an anti-hero at best. He killed so many people for his personal gain of keeping Ellie alive. Yes his death is incredibly tragic and depressing but it would not make sense to keep him alive no matter what.

Overall, the game is amazing. Story and Game play are both really good, especially the stealth in this game. The biggest let down of this game is the truly terrible editing. The problem is not what happens in the cut scenes, because the story told is really good, but the order in which it is shown to us, that is the real problem. The second half of playing as Abby is just terrible because we can't build a connection to her because we know how all of this is going to end.

There was a lot of potential which made the game shine in the first half and the ending but the second half sadly is just terribly paced. However, this does not mean the game itself is "a disgrace to the first one". It is a lot of potential badly executed for half the time.

One of the worst things in existence, i can't even call this a game, because is not a game, is an activism political piece/walking simulator full of weird and awkward interactions and sex scenes as well, since when is Sony Interactive Entertainment all of a sudden ok with those? while censoring other games for even less, this is disgusting, The story is non existent as well, the characters are bad, the gameplay is below average and of course the cherry on top, the killing of the main characters from the previous game for no reason was just awful! -100/10 Expand

Don't be fooled by all the positive reviews.Game journalists now a days have no standard whatsoever and rate every AAA game 10/10, as they fewer braincells than a chicken(sorry chickens).gameplay was the same with an added jump button and more puzzles than the previous one,Graphics OMG they are marvelous, fantastic.Seeing it on my 4k Tv ,playing on my ps4 pro never felt so awesome.Voice acting and music is awesome no complaints there. But a naughty dog game with idiotic.non sensical story with stupid characters taking stupid decisions , never ever thought of that.I don't like the newly introduced character at all,she is like living embodiment of all the stupidity there ever is(Don't want to include any spoilers ,so not going any deep into it).All in all they really ruined the game.i'll sell the game asap on gameloot.Bought the game from gameloot, they delivered it quite early.Anyway Hardcore fans of the first part like me skip this one,you wont like it.If you are new to the franchise and are just here to enjoy a quality game from sony, albeit with a nonsensical and a braindead story this game has your back.
    Thank you

I really wanted to like this game. Me and my friend who got it from day one played the game and finished the game; and we were left dissapointed.

What makes a great game for me are the story and game-play. While I feel the game-play is overall good its the story I have issues. I get what they were trying to go for; I really do. It could have worked if it were told differently but they took a risk and in my opinion they fell flat. I did not like how they handled some of the characters and their fates ( anybody who has the game knows witch characters I am talking about ).

Is this game a 0 out of 10? No. Is this game worth of the all the 10 ratings it has been getting? No.

The level of graphics and details, and minor details are unmatched in any other game. They are phenomenal. The gameplay is strong, slow as it should be. The sounds you hear and make you freeze on screen and hold your breath in RL. The feeling when you sneak up an enemy and are praying he doesnt turn around for hell to break loose.
The story unfolds also slow and is not something you would

The story unfolds also slow and is not something you would say you enjoyed, but rather experienced. Many will absolute like it, or absolute hate it. for example, If you're a fan of fast & furious story you wont like it. if you like Requiem for a Dream. It leaves you to think what you just experienced.

This game deserves the criticism it is getting however the way people are going about it is entirely wrong, review bombing a game because you didn't enjoy one part of the story is not okay. I really enjoyed the game for the fun, in depth, and engaging game-play. I really enjoyed the game for the fun, in depth, and engaging game-play. I was originally just playing the game for the story but after a few hours I got really bored by the preachy-ness of the story. Furthermore the story is one that I've seen so many times that I bored with seeing it. I really did enjoy the game for the thing that a game needs to be in order to be good, the game-play. Naughty Dog hasn't had a great track record with making fun game-play recently but this feels like they've been learning from the past 15 years. Although with misleading advertising, interviews and an iffy story I understand why people are rightfully upset with this game but it can't be ignored how solid and fun it is. I personally think that the talented staff a Naughty Dog were given an impossible task and made the best thing they could with that in mind. This game was always going to disappoint and the lead writer and director (Neil Druckman) shoving his sexual fantasies and political statements hurt this game in the long run. I'm actually not apposed to politics in games but when it's shoved down the gamer's throat like this game does rather than subtly like in Bioshock, Half Life, or Nintendo's games that's when I have to draw the line. Overall it's still a good game that I enjoyed so I might come back to it unlike Uncharted or God of War PS4 (I still enjoyed them I just don't feel the need to come back to anytime soon). Expand

The trailers made us think Joel would be more involved but they replace him with Jesse and killed Joel off 2 hours in. THEN NG thought it was a good idea to make us play as the woman who killed him. Mediocre just like the first one. No significant improvements in gameplay. Let's wait see if part 3 will improve anything, otherwise it's going to be a 3rd mod of uncharted.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Up to this point, id never think that killing the protagonist of a prequel right off in the beginning would be that badly received, assuming there have been a number of games with similar formula, which were successful. But when the storywriters are doing this just go bring up a vendetta story, presented in a very dull and filled with plotholes way, this bad reception comes as no surprise to almost everyone.

There are probably a million paths the storywriters could have gone here, so that it would please everyone, even by repeating the story of the first game, and it would have been far more worth time investing in playing this game, than now.

While the graphics are 9/10, everything else is absolute bonkers.

enemy variety 2/10 - barely added new enemies since game 1- they could have added more types of zombies with different abilities/approach to kill them

main characters 1/10 - post apolyptic scene with characters whose sole purpose is to hunt each-other down? First game the protagonists were survivors, which had their flaws, but you as player easily sympathized with them. This sequel here feels like cat and mouse game, where the surviving part is almost non existent.

storyline 1/10 - whoever wrote this, should not be hired by ANY game dev company.

It saddens me to write all this, as the first game was one of the most touching and mastetfully made I've had the pleasure to play.
But game is a true franchise destroyer - doubtful there will ever be TLOU 3.

This "Game" has nothing to do with the first one. It's just a Very bad Game, the storytelling is trash, the gameplay nothing new, crafting is from 2000, (graphics are good, that's why it's 1 not a 0) and the worst of all that you need to suffer through all this while playing a steroid pumped gorilla that's not even close to look like a women

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would like to speak about this game with all the details (spoilers alert maybe). I am a high fan of the first game and I was waiting for it for so many years. And finally this 19th arrive! The last of us II was on my hands. So freaking awesome!!!!
First minutes you finde Joel playing the guitar with those awesome grafics. Look at the their face and the moment when you are riding the horse at open field with this sunsent...
You control Joel and also Ellie and the feeling of them both feels very different, and awesome (Ellie feels son agile and fast).
But after 2 hours one new character appears, Abbie. And after control her, the first crash at my mind appear, Abbie and Joel found in the field, he help her in order to scape from a horde of zombies and she killed him!!!! Whatttt the **** Joel is died!!!
Ellie saw this and she want to revenge him and goes through Seattle to find Abbie. I would not like to reveal all the story but after the “first final”, you play some more time and you arrives to the final battle. This battle was completely out of sense (I enjoyed it but this was my point of view). After that thinking about pros and cons:
Pros: -Awesome graphics -Nice characters -Story until the end -Controls.

Cons: -I don’t like the final, for my makes no sense

Anyway it is a good second part of the first game and if you loved the firs go ahead to this.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
