I've never been more disappointed in a game ever. I was a huge fan of the original and I think that's why I dislike this sequel so much. If you were a big fan of The Last of Us I strongly recommend to avoid playing part 2. This game will go down in history as the wrong way to make a sequel

My Rating might look like I am being very biased or generous, but that's not the case I can assure you. The criticism game is getting is well deserved, yes you saw it right, I have never seen a game doing this to a player before, it makes player angry and dissatisfied at points, which is not what games are made for. It's such a different (bad/good) experience, it's like the bulbs when they were invented they were cool but unreliable so people preferred traditional lamps, but they paved the way for the modern lights we see today, that analogy doesn't fit exactly but I hope you got the point. It's a change which comes in generations the game brings a change just like what its predecessor did to story telling in gaming. The story which is talk of the town is multilayered and is not just like a movie but instead as a player you feel it, even the conflicts of character's and player's mind are well predicted in the story, its almost like a overlap between the two, like a player is a different part of character's mind, which is why its painful to continue the game sometimes. It doesn't matter if you chose a bulb or a traditional lamp as your lighting source now at the end you can't stop the evolution. It happened now with the generation's favourite game franchise can be understandably painful for some, but good part is its now a part of the history of this art form. To ease some pain and to help you learn along the game- 'It's not about what you achieve or whats at the end, it's about the journey.'

The review is done after multiple playthrough.

Don't listen to people who wanted more of the same and cannot emotionally handle a more complex and ambitious game in terms of storytelling.

Even with the divisive story, the gameplay, the graphics and the mechanics of the game are OUTSTANDING. Easily my favourite game ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Phenomenal game. It was such an emotional experience. the graphics are the best out there, the voice acting is incredible, and the gameplay is always so fun and intense. The story is also incredible, and it is the only game I actually cried in. There has been some criticism of the story. The main reason is Joel's death. People are mad at the disrespectful way he was killed and how they don't like Abby and her friends. There are also more reasons for the hate of this game, but I am just listing the two reasons I think are the main ones. About the reactions of Abby and her accomplices: People think that when they play a game they have to agree with everything that happens in it. That is not the case, especially in this game. This game gives you the facts of a situation, and lets you decide how to feel. About Joel's death: I agree that his death was disrespectful, but I think that the disrespectfulness of the death is a good thing, it shows you how violent and serious the world of The Last of Us 2 is. It also fuels the fire of hatred against Abby. Overall, it makes you think about what the characters do and what they are, and changes you as a person. Expand

Definitely one of the best game I have ever experienced since a couple of years. The story is unbelievably well written and heart-wrenching. The gameplay is extremely satisfying and challenging. The graphics are the best I’ve seen on a PlayStation console. Every aspect of the game was perfected to the very best.

Starting with something I know everyone can agree on, the graphics and art design, LOU2 deserves more than a 3 or 4. We praise plenty of games that are entirely based around their art, even with shallow gameplay. Next, take the gameplay. I don't think anyone can argue that LOU2 gameplay isn't at least as good as the first game. And I think it's excellent. When a reviewer says they got bored finding supplies and ammo around the world or call the game easy due to problems with AI, I feel like they decided to play on a difficulty below their ability, and when someone plays as many games as they do, it tends to create skill. As a gamer with average skills, I've been challenged in a fair and meaningful way with the multitude of combat and crafting options. With those features alone, it seems like the game should be at least a 7 or 8. As for the characters and story, even if it seems like nonsense and has unexplained character actions, there are plenty of movies and games that ask us to suspend disbelief and "play along." I don't necessarily dislike all media that had stretches of logic. For Joel to be killed in the manner he was, it certainly provided a motive for revenge, but I'm wondering why players can't be flexible, even watching a tragic character death. Fine art should produce some kind of emotions and even take controvercial risks. I would rather have a game industry run by passionate risk takers than year-after-year Call of Duty factories. Expand

I thought the story was great, especially by video game standards where games like Nier Automata is considered having great writing... It is however definitely a bit indulgent in prioritizing story telling over everything else, like in having multiple extended playable flashbacks. And imo the game would have benefited from having some more cynical editors involved.

The highlight for me is the gameplay, with both the stealth and the action being really great (especially the action). Almost all the fights manage to feel incredibly intense. On paper the gameplay mechanics are very similar to the first game, however it feels entirely different to play and is so much more fun.

    I highly recommend this game.

Puntos a tomar: Graficas, Jugabilidad, Mapa, Historia.

    -Graficas

    Mi calificación:

    Jugabilidad: 10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game surpasses most movies and novels with an uncompromising vision for the story it must tell. Naughty dog has crafted more than a game and simply reducing it to nothing more would be asinine. The Last of Us 2 skirts the line of moral ambiguity in the name of artistic expression and for that there are people that won’t appreciate what it tries to convey, hence the overwhelming negative reviews. If you enjoyed the first game you must ask yourself why. Why did you enjoy a game set in a post apocalyptic world hellbent on making survival for humans so difficult? The first game tells Joel’s story and within minutes rips your heart out of your chest forcing you to feel the way Joel does. While progressing through the game you meet Ellie and both characters establish a Father Daughter relationship that gets tested numerous times only to become stronger at the end. Joel does some heinous things in the name of love. Ellie witnessed all of it and the player at the end is left with a moral dilemma as to whether it was okay for Joel to betray the trust of the only person he cares about. The Last of Us 2 takes us on a journey about what it means to love and at what cost we do things that may go against our moral fiber. Let’s get this out of the way... Joel isn’t a hero. Ellie isn’t a hero. There are no heroes in this game. No good versus bad only people doing what they feel they must to survive. Who are we (the player) to decide what is right and wrong? The game forces you into an uncomfortable perspective many people will push against. It will evoke anger, frustration, sadness, happiness, despair and hope through many of the cleverly placed cutscenes throughout that make up the game’s narration. It begs to be played more than once and will gladly provide you with perspective “IF” you as a player keep an open mind to accept it for what it is rather than what it isn’t. This is not a love letter to fans. It’s not a happy game and will likely leave you with a gaping void right through the middle of you after it’s finished. The graphics are some of the best we’ve seen this generation. The sound is nothing but high quality from the effects to the sound of gunfire in the distance. The story is set in an unsympathetic, cruel and dark world where morals come and go like the wind. People show kindness and warmth, but are susceptible to a change where they show an inner, uglier strength that has kept them alive this long.

I'd probably give the game a 7/10 based solely on the graphics, acting and music which are all absolutely phenomenal. Throw in some really enjoyable gameplay (which is similar to the first game, and still great) and you've got yourself a game that's extremely addictive. Now throw in a mesmerising story that invites you to partake in some hauntingly beautiful moments, and some grotesque and tragic ones. You'll be laughing and crying throughout the game.

If you haven't played it, I hope you do!

Not as great of a master piece like the first one was, but, still, very far from the piece of trash a lot of people are claiming it to be.
It is a very good game with astonishing graphics and an arguably perfect gameplay. But the overall narrative doesn't stand to it's predecessor.
Would give an 8.5/10 but in this case I'll prefer to round it 0.5 up instead of down.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A brilliant game, but marred by inconsistency and a disappointing plot. The gameplay, performance of the cast, musical score and graphics are all exceptional, however in spite of them it’s watered down by a plot-hole ridden story; characters we know little to nothing about, unnecessary scenes and rash decisions by said characters. Abby’s storyline (seeing the story and setting from the antagonist’s perspective) I found interesting, if a bit drawn out at points. The ending, particularly, is the biggest problem for me: Ellie choosing to let Abby live rather than killing her as she vowed to do. I understand the idea that they may have wanted to implement about breaking the cycle of violence, but it was poorly executed in my opinion, especially given Ellie’s murdering of countless people during the game. Regardless of these faults it was a very enjoyable game. Perhaps it all will be worth it for a third instalment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first installment naughty dog gave us into this universe was nearly perfect masterpiece of story telling and character development. It delivered a cinematic game in a way that gave you everything you wanted in a story in a way where sometimes what isn’t said is more important than what is. While part one gave players exactly everything we wanted TLOU2 did exactly the opposite. And while at first that statement seems very negative give me a second to explain. TLOU2 mastered the ability to continue an amazing and immersive story line while giving us everything I didn’t want and it did so beautifully, and tragically. At the end of part1 I didn’t want Ellie and Joel’s relationship to continue to unravel and be strained. But it did wonderfully. I love Joel and I didn’t want him to die in the first act, but he did tragically. I didn’t want to watch my favorite video game characters Ellie slowly lose her morality and spiral into the darkness, but every scene I was force to watch it as a slow motion train wreck. I hated Abby for killing Joel, I didn’t want to know her reasoning, but I had to in order to understand she’s the moral anchor. I didn’t want to play as Abby as we brutally beat up Ellie and everything in me just wanted the fight to end. But I needed to see it. I didn’t want Ellie to lose everything in the end, but in this world there isn’t happy endings. This world is dark and brutal and in the end.. that’s what it is.. just..the end. It can never be a fairy tail ending when the first part set the theme. People are monsters. So as the first part gave me everything I wanted. TLOU2 gave me everything I didn’t want, and did so beautifully and wonderfully. My favorite game... ever? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A game about love, loss, vengeance and finding humanity. i loved this game it shows that the world of last of us is a small world, i feel like it makes sense for Joel to die because the truth is he isn't a good person no one is in the world of last of us is, there are only survivors and when u survive in the world of last of us you survive at the cost of other people. many people are mad at the ending but its an amazing ending, because Ellie stepped up to be the better person even though Abby has done that a couple of time by letting Ellie live multiple times. People hate Abby's character but she is a conflicted character who is afraid of the idea of opening up. i feel Abby being Buff is a very smart decision from Naughty Dog's side as i feel like Ellie and Abby are two types of people, Ellie withered in sorrow and became a shell of her former self and Abby became stronger with one goal in her mind after her father's death and it was vengeance. Many people are angry over how Joel died and i think his death made sense as if it were for Joel from the first game sure he would have been able to see an ambush from a mile away but this Joel within those 5 years found his humanity started to trust people more. Life for Joel wasn't all about surviving its about making sure Ellie (his second shot at life) gets to feel welcomed, loved and cared, you cant do this without opening up. When you open up you start to trust people more and you are vulnerable. The ending in my opinion is magnificent, Ellie forgives Abby and lets her go, like a good person, its an "Eye for an eye" situation, Joel kills Abby's father and Abby takes vengeance by killing him the fight is settled. Ellie forgives Abby thus ending the cycle. People were mad over the fact that "Ellie only realized vengeance is bad after all the killing she did", i see where most people come from, but its one of those things when you embark on this journey the final prize always seems glorious and worthy of the risk and to make things worse the idea of it only becomes better and better as time goes on but when you get their it aint worth it. overall one of the best games i have ever played. It also showcase how hate is very much a strong emotion how much it propels people to get what they think is rightfully theirs. If you are mad at Joel going straight into an ambush you need to think about this its been 5 years since the first game, Joel isn't that guy anymore he knows what it feels like to care and be cared, when saw Abby he didn't see her as a threat he only saw her as girl who is around Ellie's age. See Joel was in a place where he was loved and loves someone Ellie, believe it or not sometimes its easier to be hated by everyone, than be loved because love does this weird thing where you feel welcomed and comfortable and being that Jackson area he was a respected part of that neighborhood, so when Joel saw Abby he could only think of this girl no older than Ellie, not the inevitable danger. The Last Of Us: Part 2- Reseña sin spoilers

    Tiempo jugado: Terminado

    Dificultad: Dificil

-Banda Sonora: Otro apartado en el que The Last Of Us: Part 2 destaca.

The Gameplay Mechanics were great, Visuals were amazing and the Soundtrack was nice. That's pretty much the only positives I have.

The Pacing is slow, Story is quite poor, some of the characters deaths were poorly done and some characters are poorly written.

This game could've been a lot better even with the same story by doing a couple of things differently.

Did not enjoy playing as Abby, As soon as the characters switched from Ellie to Abby after the Cinema scene, The game got extremely boring. I really didn't care about her story or her friends. I also didn't find her or her friends story sad either, Especially Mel. That's actually one of the reasons I made the score a 5/10. It would've been a 6/10 if we played less as Abby.

I would've loved to have traveled with Tommy more or maybe travelled with him instead of Dina. I think that would've made the game much better.

The ending I would say wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I still would've preferred to kill Abby. That's what we spent the whole game doing.

That's about it, 5/10 for me. Wasn't a bad game, Wasn't good. I was actually enjoyiing playing as Ellie right until we had to play as Abby. After that, I had to force myself through it until the end. By the end, I couldn't really care much about the game anymore which is one of the reasons I said The ending I would say wasn't bad but it wasn't good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visuals 10/10:
high quality textures, nice details (notes being wet after swimming), easter eggs (Gustavo Santaolalla (music producer) at the beginning of the game) and motion capture for characters make TLOU2 one of the most astounding games ever made even prettier than most AAA games for pc.

    Audio 10/10:
no matter what you get on the screen the audio is always appropriate and high quality.
Sounds like gunshots and voices can change depending on the enviroment.

    Gameplay 8/10:
Good visuals and audio make the game very immersive. Also mentionable are the good physics like blood behaviour. Guns feel allright but not topnotch. Melee fights feel good with many types of finishing moves, the dodge ability and the variety of weapons. The levels are linear and you often can see an upcoming fight only based on the amount of cover. Enemies are a big positive point: natural movement, behaviour (looking after a fallen companion), changing fight tactics and variety make enemies challenging and enjoyable. Crafting and skilling is well made motivading you to search every corner for loot.

    Story 4/10:
The only reason why this game gets a bad rating from me. As a storygame the story is the most important part and has way more impact on the end score than gameplay etc..
Its a story about revenge and forgiveness. After Joel gets tortured, killed by Abby in front of Ellie Ellie goes to Seattle for revenge with Dina, Tommy and Jesse. After slaughtering our way through hundrets of fungi, WLFs, dogs(!) and Abbyfriends as Ellie we are confronted with Abby instakilling Jesse. Now we get a 10 hours long flashback of Abby and her perspective having nothing to do with Ellie. ND tries to make Abby more likeable and understandable by showing her "nice" side. This attempt to show the other side of the coin fails badly. Abbys action of avenging her dead father (doctor we killed as Joel) by travelling thousand miles only to torture Joel who has saved her life from zombies minutes ago infront of a familiy member who beggs for merci is unsympathetic and tells the audience that Abby is an evil psychopath not able to forgive an act that happened 4 years ago. In the flashback we can see that Abby knows of the actions of the Fireflys to kill Ellie without her and Joels consent. By that she also knows that Joel only defended his daughter making her vengeance even more absurd and cruel. As Abby we also get to know Abbys collegues who confirm my opinion about the WLF being a bunch of scumbags. The WLF is at war Scars aka. an aggressive religious scumtribe. After Abbys story showing how she changes from a cruel killer to a nice person within 2 or 3 days we get back to the final fight playing as Abby. Now we can see that Tommy got shot in the eye by Abby after saving Ellie from a bullet. Now we fight against Ellie and win. As we are about to kill Ellie Dina attacks us with a knife. Luckily Lev is here to save the day by shooting Dina in her arm. As we are about to kill Dina Ellie tells Abby that Dina is pregnant. She responded with "good". The only thing that stopped her is Lev. The game tries to make us understand and forgive Abby for 10 hours straight but the only thing it achieves is confirming our prejudices about Abby being a cruel psychopath. After the fight we get a big time jump to Ellie being together with Dina and her child in a nice farmhouse. As it turns out Tommy is alive. He comes along showing Ellie where Abby currently is. After she refuses to avenge Joel Tommy gets mad and calls her a coward. Thats straight up **** Tommy was the guy who has gone out for revenge without Ellie because he worried about her. He even told his wife to lock Ellie in Jackson and now he suddenly doesnt care about her even though she has more to loose than ever before. Now Ellies ptsd comes back and she cant let go of Abby. She goes after her knowing she lost Dina and her child with that descision. After she meets Abby in a horrible condition prisoned by Rattlers she fights her. As she was about to kill her she thinks about Joel how she forgave him and realises that revenge wont make her happier so she lets go of Abby which is quite unrealistic considering she murdered hundrets of people only to get to Abby. Now she turns back home where nobody is left. She then tries to play her guitar but with only 3 fingers left she isnt able to (Abby bit them off). So she leaves her last memory of Joel behind.

A dark story where everybody looses because of revenge. Especially Ellie even though she spared Abbys life. Main problem is a lack of character developement, plot holes and the game trying so hard to make Abby likeable but achiving the opposite. Because of that the game feels very unsatisfying.
The idea of a revenge story where both sides of the coin are shown is good but executed poorly.
I could live with a sad story (even though its not my taste) as long it is greatly written.
Its a shame they didnt spend more time making a good TLOU2 story.

The majority of negative reviews are from pathetic fanboys forcing themselves to resent the latter part of the game due to hate and rage boners from the intro. Ignore their whining lmao.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
