    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I believe you have a different experience from playing rather watching walkthroughs. Cause playing as those characters, in those heartbreaking moments, it does have an impact on your perception. Even though there’s certain characters you would rather not play as. But makes you not necessarily empathize with that character but the situation she in and the people around.I really do like playing this game I know people didn’t like the fact that you play as one specific character but it those help see other characters around her and Ellie perception .You see two side of the coin both which is neither good or bad. It a interesting concept. And it’s a game that requires you really to look further into the point of the ending to eventually understand. Some people like games with clear answers, ending, And it’s alright if you do but you might not think it had great ending in that point. Also they wouldn’t give the effort to develop a character if they didn’t had the intention of re-using her or Ellie for future projects.But I think it’s genius ending for a dlc or potentially new game after this game. Also i should mention the mechanic of this game. It’s was so cool and amazing you get to play the guitar, growl on the floor and simply cause it was easy to manage for a ps4 imagine in ps5.The art concept is exceptional, beautiful. There are very amazing views and at one part you get to experience fear from failing hahaha.

    (my opinion but with some spoilers Part 2)
    However i would put Abby story first then lead up to Joel death. Many seem to over look the ending but it actually very well written. Because it come back to seeing to parallel between characters. A revenge story that ends up losing themselves on the way. It shows that not everyone manage to feel relief and at peace once looking for revenge. It shows that their consequences on making the “wrong choice” henceforth Dina left. Plus on the first sneak peak at the game Ellie was sing a song. In my opinion, in those lyrics, she mentions that “ I can’t walk on the path of the right because I’m wrong” which means how she can feel satisfied ir live on with her life if she knew what she will do isn’t gonna make her be better Knowing her killing Abby wasn’t gonna removed the pain and trauma. And of course it not the same story as the first game because it a different protagonist, with different values,interests and personality. Which make total sense why she did kill Abby. Joel would kill her with no hesitation. Ellie has and always had different opinions, value and morals as Joel.    … Expand

    Ive been playing for so long, linear games are my jam. The Witcher Wild Hunt, God of War 4 and The Last of Us Remastered were my best games but nothing of them compares to The Last of Us part 2. Graphics and details are on another level, my hobby consist of watching movies and series and the storytelling and voice acting on this game is without a doubt the best Ive experienced in my gamingIve been playing for so long, linear games are my jam. Understand the message that the human being is selfish, dirty and rotten, death is ugly and cruel, TLOU2 reports a post-apocalyptic world as real as possible, UNDERSTAND THE TWO SIDES OF CURRENCY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Playing Abby was purposely made to make you feel uncomfortable, Abby is not a demon, there are no heroes in the real world, Abby was selfish and lost everything, friends, Alice; -; she is not a demon, you see! The fights are demanding and feel extremely realistic, which is supported by the good sound backdrop. The cut scenes look more real than ever before in a game and the facial expressions of the characters appear incredibly realistic. The story is gripping andIn my opinion, The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece just like its predecessor. The graphics are the best I've ever seen.     El título es una exquisitez jugablemente, con un gameplay cuidado al extremo (excepto algunos errores puntuales de la IA), excelente diseño de niveles, que aprovecha como ningún otro la verticalidad de los diferentes escenarios, recompensando la exploración, con    Una obra maestra. Es uno de los mejores juegos de la generación, junto con Red Dead Redemption 2 y The Witcher 3.
    El título es una exquisitez jugablemente, con un gameplay cuidado al extremo (excepto algunos errores puntuales de la IA), excelente diseño de niveles, que aprovecha como ningún otro la verticalidad de los diferentes escenarios, recompensando la exploración, con coleccionables, recursos, notas y anotaciones. A lo largo de su historia se representan infinidad de escenarios muy diferentes entre sí, que le aporta frescura al juego a pesar de repetir bastante algunas situaciones, principalmente, zona con enemigos y uso de sigilo para limpiarla y avanzar. Así y todo, en ningún momento se me hizo repetitivo, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que se plantean también muchas situaciones novedosas, incluyendo escenas esriptadas que le aportan originalidad y ritmo al juego.
    El nivel gráfico es impresionante, al nivel de RDR2, con escenarios hermosamente detallados, el nivel de las animaciones es claramente de lo mejor que se haya visto jamás. Detalles en las expresiones faciales, o ver como nuestro personaje amartilla el arma al mantener el modo apuntado brevemente, son increíbles, pero también es ver la aglidad cuando van corriendo y se tira al piso, o cuando escala una soga o simplemente cuando rompe una ventana. También quiero destacar el nivel de inmersión, sobre todo en situaciones tensas que afrontamos principalmente en lugares cerrados y oscuros.
    En cuanto a la banda sonora, también es espectacular, el trabajo de Santaolalla se mantiene a un nivel altísimo durante todo el juego, un trabajo impecable.
    Por último voy a hablar sobre la historia, que quizás es el punto que más controversia ha generado. La historia del juego es adulta, es sombría y dura. Habrá gente a la que le gustará y gente a la que no, pero funciona, mantiene al jugador interesado hasta el final, es coherente y tiene un mensaje claro. Es admirable el riesgo que ha tomado Naughty Dog al elegir este camino, y lo hace de forma magistral, en el sentido de que recorremos el camino viviendo las dos caras de la moneda, y aunque no estemos de acuerdo con las desiciones que se van tomando, no es nuestra historia la que se cuenta, es la historia de sus protagonistas y en ese sentido nada se puede reclamar.
    Para concluir, solamente puedo decir que como juego, TLOU 2 es espectacular, una experiencia 100% recomendable para quien sea capaz de aceptar la historia que se cuenta, tal como se cuenta.

The level design keeps one from being stuck for too long, even with the puzzles in the game. Audio and Visuals are once again the best on the console. They truly allow the player to be immersed within the world of the game.

    This game is not for everyone. It depends on the players ability to separate their agency from the playable characters, as well as asks for the player to be open to empathy towards every character within the game. For some, the actions of certain characters will prevent that from being possible. While I thought the game had a bit of pacing issues within the second half of the game, it didn’t detract from my overall experience. I consider this game a masterpiece which lives up to and exceeds the first game.    … Expand

At the end of the day, opinions are opinions, so I try not to let anyone else’s dislike of the game get to me since no matter what I still have the personal enjoyment that I have felt playing this. I just hope the negative response doesn’t end up hurting the chances of a Part 3 lol. It really is a game, where if I had stopped playing in a moment when I'm VERY INTENDED to be feeling negative emotions - I would've missed out on the journey that the game is and would not have seen the big picture that ended up in me really digging it, to the point of also thinking about it for weeks.     People are straight out review bombing the game without reason. With one hour straight into the game you get hit by one of the most cruel deaths you can ever get. The game creates the feeling of hate towards Abby since hour one. As the game progresses you start to see how Ellie recklessly goes into a path of revenge, transitioning from the sweet innocent girl we were introduced in the game we all agree we love, TLOU. Ellie starts to become a savage and lose this humanity she was characterized of, but she doesn’t quite lose it, she is filled with regret, regret towards not being in good terms with Joel, regret of torturing someone else, killing someone who is pregnant, she is scared because she is actually alone. The moment Joel gets shot with that shotgun, Ellie loses absolutely everything. In game one after Ellie runs away, in a very emotional scene she transmits to Joel how she has lost everything and how the only person she has is him, and in fact it is true. Everyone who is trashing the game talks about the dysfunctional relationship between Ellie and Dina, and how it makes the story trash, this is on purpose, Ellie does not care about Dina, Jesse, Tommy, etc. All she cared for was Joel, and the game transmits that in a cruel yet beautiful way, the game makes you feel lost in anger next to Ellie.
    Then the gameplay, which we all must agree is way better than the first, since it is fast paced, scary, dark, gruesome and flexible. You literally can choose if you want to engage in a fight or just straight up skip it. The accessibility the graphics, everything gameplay wise is just gorgeous and distinct. Back to my point, when you start playing with Abby everyone wants to delete the application, and I get it, I did want that to. When I started to play with Abby I did not give a **** about her dad, I tried making her die multiple times to see if the game ended, etc. I was **** pissed. Ten hours after playing with Abby I was **** smiling, Abby portrays the female version of the story of Joel and Ellie, and how she moved on from revenge, she got what she wanted by killing Joel but at the same time she was as humane as it was possible in an apocalyptic world, Abby let Ellie and Tommy leave, her thing was with Joel and Joel only. The game shifts the character of evil to our loved character Ellie, she goes on a path of absurd and obscure torture just to hurt Abby. The game makes you hate yourself for putting yourself in the shoes of Abby, when Jesse dies and you fight with Ellie in the theater scene you don’t want them to fight, why? Because you don’t want to kill Ellie and that is obvious, at the end of the fight Ellie is **** trashed and Abby proves to be the bigger person by just leaving all of them there. I was scared when I saw the scene of the house, I said what the **** is this bull**** and when I see tommy I knew **** was going down, skipping all of this, you get to the big showdown, all cut up Ellie literally bleeding out, it all just feels empty, cruel, you tie down Abby and you blackmail her into fighting you by putting a knife to Lev’s throat which is the symbolic representation of Ellie in chapter one, the fight starts and man, the **** scenery, it looked like I was fighting in the octagon of hell, beating the **** out of each other, biting extremities, etc. While Ellie was drowning Abby while in tears I just didn’t want to keep pressing square, it felt wrong, Ellie was not Ellie anymore, and Abby ended up being any other character trying to survive and find justice by their own hands in the post apocalyptic world. As Ellie plays Days of you and me on the guitar with the missed strings my heart just broke, Ellie fulfilled her biggest fear we learn in game one while she talks with Sam, she was scared of ending up alone, and she was alone since hour one of the game, no one mattered except Joel, as we see the last flashback, we see how Ellie is not mad at Abby for killing her, she is mad with herself, for not forgiving Joel during his time alive, I hated this game, I hated myself and ended up hating Ellie, and that is what makes this game a masterpiece.

    (Btw, yes, **** SJW and the agenda, but somehow the game did not force it, kinda did not like how Lev was trans, but it does not damage at all the Beauty mixed with darkness The Last of Us is about).    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not a 10. But this game does not deserve the trash reviews it is getting. Half of these reviews make valid points but give scores that make no sense.

    Positives:
    -one of the most beautiful games on ps4
    -gorgeous environments and animations
    -the gore is great
    -fights are super fun and exhilarating -beautiful scenes and character moments throughout the game
    -very emotional game, some moments made me feel the same way i felt 1st watching the red wedding. I can say that only got and this game have ever affected me so much.

    Negatives :
    -the 1st game had a lot of sad moments and aspects however the beauty of joel and ellie's relationship made it all seem worth it. Last of us 2 is in need of some of these moments beacuse otherwise the game is just too sad and kinda broke me.
    -while some story moments aren't what i would've envisioned or liked to see for this game I can still respect them and make sense of them. Even if I dont like them doesn't make them wrong.

    Those that still hated abby at the end of the game really weren't paying attention. No one can say they didnt feel conflicted when playing as joel in the hospital during the 1st game. Playing as abby felt the same way. The entire time playing as her somehow made me somewhat care for all of the characters that were part of joel's death at the start of the game. By the end of it, i didnt want ellie to leave diana for revenge.

    Overall this game took over my life for a couple of days where i could only think about playing it. I dont know how such a game could ever be a 0/10 for anyone even with its faults    … Expand

    This is by far the best game this year. Yes, there are things I don't agree with. But that's almost any game you play. Stop crying. This is a beautiful but brutal game. Everything about it is top notch. Graphics, gameplay, story, and combat. I love the stealth aspect of it. If you can only buy one game this year, this should be it. If you have a weak stomach, you might wanna pass though.This is by far the best game this year. Yes, there are things I don't agree with. But that's almost any game you play. Stop crying.     Obejrzawszy napisy końcowe z jednej strony dziwi mnie niezmiernie reakcja "fanów z metacritic", a z drugiej,    "Nie wiem czy kiedykolwiek Ci wybaczę... Ale zamierzam spróbować."
    Nic tak dobrze nie streszcza fabuły nowego The Last of Us, jak to jedno zdanie z epilogu. I zupełnie nie gra tu roli, kto do kogo je wypowiedział - zabrzmiałoby równie dobrze w ustach wszystkich głównych postaci.
    Obejrzawszy napisy końcowe z jednej strony dziwi mnie niezmiernie reakcja "fanów z metacritic", a z drugiej, niestety nie dziwi wcale. Pozornie (i początkowo) może się wydawać, że Naughty Dog uderza tu w zupełnie inne tony niż w jedynce, że niczym młoda Ellie szarpie struny gitary bez wyczucia i wprawy, wrzucając w melodię zasłyszane ostatnio dźwięki. Tak jednak nie jest, zdecydowanie, a twierdzić mogą tak jedynie Ci, którzy zapomnieli już, jak gorzkie było w istocie zakończenie części pierwszej.
    O czym zatem jest Part II?
    O stracie i radzeniu sobie z nią, o niesprawiedliwości, przemocy, i uprzedzeniach, o ślepocie nienawiści i bezcelowości zemsty oraz o spokoju jaki daje wybaczenie. W wielu miejscach jest to opowieść gorzka, nieprzyjemna i trudna w odbiorze, można wręcz powiedzieć, że mało "growa". Niemniej nie jest to opowieść słaba, nie jest to najgorsza fabuła w historii gier, postacie nie są źle napisane, a zakończenie nie jest "żenujące", jak zdają się wykrzykiwać internetowi "hejterzy".
    Już moment pojawienia się tych podejrzanie niskich ocen, dosłownie kilka-kilkanaście godzin po premierze, dawał do myślenia, lecz teraz - po ukończeniu fabuły jestem jeszcze bardziej pewny tego, że 90% z nich to wylana na klawiaturę żółć ludzi, którzy nie lubią gdy ktoś ma inne poglądy niż oni sami, prezentując to co ich zdaniem gorsze, jako równe.     Dla scenarzystów The Last of Us II wszyscy są równi - wobec śmierci, miłości, czy nienawiści, nie ma znaczenia płeć, kolor skóry, to jak ważna dla fabuły jest postać - liczy się historia i jej przesłanie. Historia napisana w sposób przemyślany i chirurgiczny, tak by to co widzimy bolało, tak byśmy kwestionowali wybory postaci, czasami się z nimi nie zgadzając, tak, by trudno było ocenić postacie, ich motywację, czy działania po kilku godzinach gry - wszystko po to, by przesłanie wybrzmiało mocniej. I za tę odwagę należą się twórcom wielkie brawa.
    Być może problematyczna dla części fanów jest również sama konstrukcja fabuły? Wszak i przy okazji serialowego Wiedźmina skoki czasowe były dość powszechnie (niesłusznie moim zdaniem) krytykowane. Niemniej każdy utwór warto oceniać z perspektywy całości, dostrzegając, że pewne zabiegi stylistyczne są celowym działaniem twórcy, który poprzez kolejność prezentowania treści chce odpowiednio sterować naszymi emocjami, uzyskując - szczególnie w medium tak interaktywnym jak gry wideo - efekt znacznie lepszy, niż w przypadku pełnej liniowości historii.
    To, że pozwala się nam patrzeć na pewne wydarzenia innymi oczami, że motywacja działań postaci wyjaśniana jest często "post-factum" - to nie przypadkowe błędy scenariusza, a świadome zabiegi mające istotne znaczenie dla puenty tej opowieści.

    Before I state why I liked the game, I would like to implore that everyone play the game before making their own opinions based off of other reviews and leaks. As a gaming community, we should be striving to make better efforts to lift each other up, not tear each other down.

    In my own opinion, everything about this game was an experience. From the opening scene with Joel explaining his past decisions to Tommy to the last few moments of the game, it took me on a journey most would find very difficult to watch. This is a game about violence, revenge, anger and malice, and how all these things can take tremendous tolls on a life. We get to see something terrible happen to a character we adore, and how this act drives other characters we love to do terrible, inhumane things. this game was not created just to please anyone who can move a joystick and press buttons. Its goal is to take the gamer on a journey in which they are able to see things in a new perspective. For me, The Last of Us Part II is not only a wonderful game, but an experience that taught me many lessons that I will cherish forever.

Tanto Abby como Ellie son movidas por el odio y la venganza, y finalmente Ellie toma la decisión de no matarla porque no iba a llenar ese vacío que se suponía que le iba a dar el matar a Abby, de echo, perdió todo en el momento en el que salió de su casa dejando a Dina atrás.     I replayed the first game and the DLC before starting on this game so I could better appreciate the changes/upgrades and it was worth it! The environments and scenery is gorgeous, I love the enhancements and add-ons to the combat and sneaking mechanics. I decided not read any reviews and generally tried to stay offline until I completed the TLOUP2. And I can happily say with my rose tinted glasses off that this game is a masterpiece. Nothing wrong with it, and people providing negative attitudes towards the game with only the argument of “transgenders” & “lesbians” obviously can’t appreciate marvellous writing and game design and are not open to such a unique and perfectly built world. Most people who have complained about the game have really only said one thing “Naughty Dog is trying to force an agenda and ideology down our throat, all while attempting to make white men appear weak.” Those people are the type to think that there is a political stage to everything And must add their own views to all discussions. But if you look at the game AS A GAME, then it’s clear that the devs tried their hardest to provide the more appreciative side of the audience with an emotional masterpiece that leaves you in love with almost all the characters. The only Two problems i had with the game were, no1, Joel dying in such a shameful way (which i know had to happen in order to have a plot at all) and, no2, how extensively they tried to justify the ,bad guys’ decisions... i feel as though a simple extended cutscene would of been perfect, but alas, the devs can’t appeal to everyone and i get that Amazing game, included all the aspects of the first yet also taking a new approach, true nostalgia trip, 10/10.… Expand

El juego es triste, demasiado triste algunas veces y por esto parece que a tan hateado, pero la realidad es que todo lo que ocurre en el juego está justificado, la muerte de Joel era necesaria por todos sus errores y sus pecados (aunque me hubiera gustado que fuera un poco después), la implementación de poder jugar con Abby es bastante buena para poder entender sus razones y empatizar con ella, dándonos cuenta de que en este juego no hay bien ni mal, si no que todo depende del punto de vista. Sure Joel, the most beloved character in the original Last of Us, gets killed savagely in the first two hours, but that gives Ellie the motive to get revenge for his killers. Without this brutal death scene, there wouldn’t be a Last of Us Part II.

    Also, playing as Abby gives us the opportunity to play as both opposing forces to see their struggles and losses, see that Joel’s death had meaning, and potentially learn enough about the character to play her in a part 3.

    The graphics, gameplay, and story is very well crafted and I can’t wait to play it again. I really hope there’s a part 3 so we can see another master work done by Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    Naughty dog have not only created one of the finest gaming experiences of this console generation, but one of the most incredible stories ever told across any form of media. This is a truly bleak game, sprinkled with just enough humour and beauty so as to never become a chore. At no point in my playthrough have I ever been anything but absolutely enthralled. With each 'day' spent traversing the breathtaking imagining of post apocolyptic Seattle, gameplay builds through sequences of open world exploration; hunting for supplies to upgrade your ever growing arsenal of guns, ammo & tactical weaponry (the weapon upgrade animations are fantastic) before a genuinely best in class stealth experience takes over. Enemy AI is smart, coordinated and designed to constantly keep you moving and thinking. The game does an excellent job of keeping the pressure on. As with all story driven games I play on normal difficulty, and the challenge is worthy of plenty of deaths but never enough to break you're spirit. I did find that when restarting at a checkpoint, the game would reposition an enemy who was causing particular trouble which was helpful. All of this swells to cruscendo's of truly brutal and white knuckle action. Some of the things you are asked to do as a player will stay with you for a long time, and the truly staggering violence almost never comes off as tacky. (Although admittedly, one encounter in particular whilst on the hunt for a boat was a bit much...)

    The infected don't present as much of a challenge, but the use of lighting and sound design create an atmosphere that is genuinely terrifying. The main challenge that is presented with infected enemies is not how to kill them, but which ones to kill fist. As with the previous game, music is used to outstanding effect and is entwined within the story beautifully to bookend sequences. Ellie music shop acoustic rendition of a classic song a real emotional highlight to rival 'the giraffe moment' from the first game.

    Technically the game runs buttery smooth on my launch ps4, and although the issue of turbo fan kicks in I have experienced no performance issues whatsoever.

    You must experience this game, its as simple as that. The low user score is a sad reflection of todays society, and should be ignored by any rational consumer. Yet the review bombs act as almost the perfect metaphor for the last of us 2's overarching themes. People will go to extraordinary lengths to destroy their enemy, yet despite all of our percieved differences - everybody bleeds the same colour.    … Expand

    This game is just, wahouuu I don't have words. I am not annoying, I am surprised but I love the story line, the landscape, all the audiovisuel's part is incredible ! Congratulations to the developers, etc because this game is like gold and diamond : exceptional! Please test the first part and if you like characters and the story, play to the last pf us part 2 !

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have completed the game cover to cover and I can honestly say this is a masterpiece of the highest degree. I was lucky enough to dodge any spoilers before launch and every dark twist and turn throughout the story left me begging for more. The last of us part two keeps the core elements of the origional game and blows them to new extremes. Every morsel of this game is awe inspiring, from the story telling to the magnificent level design, there is little to nothing that I can complain about. My only criticism of the ENTIRE game is that the finale was deliberately left very open for potential sequels(which I would die for). Unlike the first title where the characters were in a place which just kept you guessing. Don't listen to the negative reviews which critique the fact that two of the main characters are lesbian. This aspect was already revealed in the first game and it is presented in a respectful and honestly amazing way which doesn't draw anything from the integrity of the story telling. I believe it really deepens the connection you feel towards these characters and it just creates more depth to them which is never a bad thing. Ellie is still the exact same character that you learn to know and love from the origional game, even more so infact. In the end, buy the game and play it for yourself. Have an open mind and watch the **** out stalkers. 10/10… Expand

    Thoroughly disappointed with the story. Gameplay and graphics are the best the PS4 has seen. However the line ‘This can’t be nothing’ is literally not true. Once you’ve finished it it literally has been for nothing! SAVE YOUR MONEY

    This game purposefully makes it hard to "look for the light in the darkness", which I'm not sure makes me feel love or disappointment in the end... but that is the point, which I deeply appreciate as part of its design.

    I really hate to see so many people bashing this game (many of whom did so before even having time to finish the game). As a huge fan of the TLoU, I was not disappointed. This was a fantastic sequel, which I had a hard time putting down.    … Expand

    Excellent game, I loved the story and its ending, amazing characters. Beautiful world filled with violence and mesmerizing graphics, views and soundtrack. Gameplay is incredible. I highly recommend it. Ignore the haters

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
