    Just finished the game. Why I can understand why some wouldn't like the story, rating it this low is lunacy. I for one was gripped the whole time. Had moments of tears, smiles, and nervous shaking(none more than that last night in Seattle.) Give the game a chance. It's quite the ride.

    Part II does something I’ve never seen in a game before in the best possible way. The combat is gripping, the environments and attention to detail is fantastic and the motion capture and acting is masterful. Plus I can’t remember any game where someone’s seamlessly taken their shirt off.

    Last of us part 2 is an amazing achievement in gaming history. Some of the set pieces/environments in this game are truly breathtaking. Gameplay is similar to first game but adds additional mechanics which enhances it. I personally enjoy story driven games and I can tell you this does not dissapoint, its a roller-coaster ride from beggining to end.     imagine not even playing the game and giving the game bad reviews. The story is supposed to be different from the first game. If it was the same then what would be the point? I'm just as mad as the next person from what happened, but keep an open mind and you'll see why this game is fantastic.

    Incredibly story with some of the most dynamic characters I've ever played. I have never felt such raw emotion from a video game. All the snowflakes looking for a remake of the first game will be disappointed

This sheds light on the painful story and the growth and the breaking of Ellie both mentally and physically to a point where you feel broken yourself. The game concludes with an incredible power to decide to finally stop that process of mental and physical warfare going on to finally let go and be free of everything Ellie has been holding onto. Ellie lost everything because of this and is completely broken but no longer has that burden that was weighing her down. Life isnt always perfect and it sure isnt a picnic in this zombie apocalypse mental amd physical story telling master piece.… Expand

    No game does it quite like The Last of Us. Part 2 felt like a throwback to the game I enjoyed so much in part 1 with all the updates that a new game a new story bring. I can say I enjoyed this more than any story-driven game to come out since The Last of Us part 1.

Level design is a huge part of the gameplay for this series and it is so fine-tuned it's near-perfect here, Naughty Dog crafts such a detailed world giving glimpses of the past survivor's lives just by traversing it. The layouts of each level play out is so much better than the original as the player has so many unique ways to approach each encounter. Next is the story. This story just like the original purposely makes you feel uncomfortable at some points but it dials it to the extreme this time. I saw a review that complained "By the end of the game I was so numb to violence nothing shocked me anymore" Naughtydog does this on purpose as they really want players to be immersed and feel how these characters emotionally feel. This game's narrative is heavily reliant on the realism and characters making personal yet realistic choices and IMO you lose a huge part of the story if you don't put yourself in their shoes by playing the game. Almost every negative review here is within the first day this game came out. My total gameplay time was 25.5 hours. 99% of these negative reviews are not even possible. Most of this hate is coming from people who don't have the full context of the story. There is a reason this game is much longer than the original and an hour worth of cutscenes alone won't tell the full story. I highly recommend playing the game yourself and not looking at the game through spoilers! I found it a great experience and I hope others will enjoy it as much as I did.… Expand

I loved every minute of looting and fighting my way through seattle and its aftermath. Naughty Dog never disappoints. The writing was excellent and i was so happy to continue the last of us story. I did not think that the original game needed a sequel per say but the feelings of emotion and confliction i had while playing this was amazing. I loved the new skill trees and weapon upgrade mechanics, the use of puzzles to unlock safes, the amazing visuals, the small details, and everything else this masterpiece had to offer. The devotion of the team making this game is very apparent and i am beyond satisfied with this addition. Thanks so much Neil and the Naughty Dog team!… Expand

I am disappointed with how ND killed off Joel, I don’t believe he or Tommy would have gone to a location with a bunch of unknown people... But that is what it is... with the years passing by Joel could have become easily trusting and quite honestly careless.....

    ND did a very good job overall with the firearms use-age and manipulations. However, currently the revolver is messed up.. when the trigger should be in double action it’s to the rear as if it’s a dead trigger or in single action... (imo with the wheelgun Ellie never should cock the hammer back on the revolver unless she’s making a 25 yard or so shot) Its unrealistic for her to always be cocking the hammer back if aiming down sights in a close quarters situation. Another complaint is weapon options.. In my opinion there should be more options as far as firearms in the game (handguns -1911 or browning Hi-power) or with rifles the Ruger Mini 14. It’s ridiculous that these weapons are in the game and you don’t have access to use them.    … Expand

Simply because I want to see the score raised as it is lowered by entitled gamers who have rated it poorly due to the leaks - or have played a few hours up until the death scene. First I want to start by saying that Joel was one of my favorite video game characters ever, and seeing him brutally killed made me as angry as everyone else. It also made me absolutely despise Abby. I was livid when I realized half way through the game that she had her own separate campaign of 12+ hours. But by no means do I think that this game is “trash” because of it. First. In a realistic sense, it’s an apocalyptic world. People die. All the time. It is unrealistic to think that main characters who are beloved will live forever. Second. As much as I loved Joel, Abby had every reason to want revenge. He murdered multiple fireflies to get Ellie out. Not to mention killed Abby’s dad when he easily could have wounded him. THEN. On Ellie and Tommy’s revenge kick, they murder all of Abby’s other friends who are decent people. Abby left Ellie alive TWICE. Because she isn’t a horrible person, and just had the need to avenge her father. That is why Ellie chooses not to kill Abby at the end (though I wanted to see it happen). It’s because she willingly makes the choice to move on. She realizes she is the villain. Not Abby.

    The game isn’t trying to push a political agenda. The game isn’t trying to make he viewers sympathize for Abby. The game is portraying a realistic visual of how actions have consequences. Joel made a decision to murder all the fireflies - this is what it cost him. Ellie made a decision to avenge Joel by murdering all of Abby’s friends - it cost her jesses life, her relationship with Dina, and more guilt. Her realization of this comes right before she kills Abby. She knows her death will only bring her more misery and guilt. So she willingly decides to forgive, same as she did with Joel in the flash back. It’s F’ing beautiful. That’s my rant. Big fan naughty dog. Forget the haters    … Expand

    As someone who saw the leaks, I went into this with sad scepticism, which turned into outright anger, I was adamant that there was no possible way I could feel good about the story by the end of it.     This is a masterpiece. The detail put into this game is mind blowing. Sure there’s parts of the story I felt dragged on a bit, but the pay off was well worth the wait.

    Huge fan of the first game and now in my second play through of its sequel. It's a more adult story that is crafted beautifully. One of the most beloved characters of this universe is now the playable character and it's searching for it's revenge, but this game doesn't show revenge as it was already showed in millions of other medias, like movies or video games itself. A inovação trazida pela Naughty Dog é gigantescas. Muitos precisam entender que a INOVAÇÂO é um novo divisor de águas... (Spoiler!!!) O jogo, trabalha a opção sexual dos personagens de forma genuína, assim como a construção de sua trama, não é um jogo para pessoas pequenas (e não me refiro a menores de 18, isto já esta em sua classificação e não tem o que discutir), é um jogo para adultos de mentes abertas ou que pelo menos estão dispostos a se permitirem experienciar um jogo (obra prima), onde o mesmo não se limita a criação de seus personagem "invencíveis" como em outros jogos, este jogo, não se baseia nisso. Em como um "herói" consegue ultrapassar gerações e gerações e continuar sendo "amado". Pelo contrário, ele mostra gente como a gente, pessoas lutando como você e eu poderíamos lutar em um mundo pós apocalíptico, histórias que beiram a perfeição de uma realidade caótica, onde heróis são coisas do passado e a luta pela sobrevivência, juntamente com sua gama complexa de objetivos comuns enraizados de medo, frustração, insegurança, vingança, esperança, amor etc. Sentimentos humanos, apenas humanos, cada qual lutando pelo que acredita, porem cegos para o caus comum que os rodeiam (muito real no mundo "normal" e triplamente aguçado em um apocalipse).     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very strange to see this game get review bombed so vehemently. There’s a clear lack of objectivity by tens of thousands of people leaving a review here, and clearly a fair few of those haven’t even touched the game.

    Spectacular graphics, refined gameplay and an emotionally driven story that makes this yet another fantastic addition to Naughty Dogs now growing list of classics.

    The two issues I have story-wise do relate to some of the decisions made. For me, what makes The Last of Us different from usual survival horror/apocalypse type games is that relationship between Joel and Ellie. The Last of Us IS that relationship more than the world itself and is at the very core of what makes the first game special. If you remove one of those elements then you risk falling back in to just another game, albeit a high level one.

    The second issue is the trope of revenge. While naturally you would expect the people closest to Joel to want redemption, the game prides itself on being grounded and it would be hard to accept that in real life, in such a horrendous world, you would leave the sanctity of Jackson to travel hundreds of miles in to an absolute fortress to try and find one person. It’s not a dealbreaker but it does take away from that grounded atmosphere it tries to create.

    That being said, I’m more than happy to be an observer of Druckmann’s story, given that he is the creator, much like I would he reading any novel. I admire the fact that they didn’t rest on their laurels and pay loads of fan service to the game, purely to please the (seemingly aggressive) dedicated fan base to this franchise. I want to play a linear story game to be told a story, not to cross off a checklist of things I wanted to see in the game. Generation defining game, not quite at the level of the first game, but the expectations for this sequel were so high that was always going to be a challenge.

    It’s a shame that there is an ever present immature streak among a lot of gamers that can’t be objective enough to form an opinion on this game without jumping on a bandwagon.    … Expand

The story may be controversial but that's why I liked it. It may not be what the "fans" wanted but its the story ND wanted to tell.     For anyone who wants the happy, magic, dancing with fairies and rainbow princesses storyline that most games give us, then perhaps a story that happens during an apocalypse isn't the game for you?
    I think I've made it clear that I think the story was brilliant, I'm not saying people that don't like it are wrong, everyones entitled to their own opinion. But saying the game has been written poorly is definitley out of order.

    But aside from that, the other aspects of the game are fantastic! The visuals blow my mind, there is one scene where the characters and backdrop actually look real. I just wonder how the PS5 will elevate this game once it's remastered! (Which it surely will be right?)
    The gameplay is much like the first, but improved. Everything feels more fluid and the way you can move around the obstacles and terrain, which goes hand in hand with the more open spaces we are given, especially compared to the first game, make it much more realistic. Even small touches like leaning over a ledge before dropping down makes the game feel real.
    I think, even if you disliked the story, everyone can agree that the gameplay is next level.

    If you're new to TLOU and are on the edge about buying it, I'd wait a little while for a sale maybe? But if, like me, you've waited 7 years for this game to come then you need to buy it NOW!
    If you love it or hate it, it's an experience none the less and what NaughtyDog has achieved with this game is unreal.

Not because of the brutality mostly because you can only understand what you see in this game if you have experience in life. You are also required to recognize foreshadowing and metphors to understand what the game tries to tell you. Also some other reviews say that their problem was the large amount of violence made them numb to it. Well that was one point that the game tried to do only they did not realized it. There are so many other heavy topics discussed such as redemption and forgiveness. TLOU 2 is a 25-30 hours soul torturing and it feels awsome. The game is not perfect there are few characters that are kind of one dimensional but I think we seen worse. The game looks stunning and the gameplay is much more enjoyable than the first one. I would describe this as more of an experiance rather than a game and I would strongly recommend it for those who are not judgemental and for those who can look past the thigs that are in front of them.… Expand

Beautiful and haunting environments and exquisite music combined with the amazing story that I have come to expect from Naughty Dog makes this experience both enthralling and heartbreaking. The Last of Us Part II is not all rainbows and flowers. It’s a different game that delivers a different experience than other games does. You will go through a roller coaster of emotions. Love, hate, regret, confusion, love again, pity, hate again emptiness and by the end, you might hate again or feel some kind of enlightenment... This game offers SO MUCH, like no other game I’ve ever played before. (hardcore gamer here). Give it a try. Shut it out all you might think you know about this game, don’t be afraid to dive in, you (probably) won’t regret. And, if you do, you still got a lot to think about it afterwards. The gameplay is very good, you can feel the power of the weapons, the force of your blows, then you have the graphics, excellent graphics, much better than TLoU 1. The story is fantastic, showing new characters, new points of view. Now let's talk about people who hate this game. We all love the first game in the series, this game is also a masterpiece. One of the problems that caused the large amount of negative reviews from users (not counting Joel's death) is that some of the people who played the game, not actually felt Abby's story. If in Abby`s storytelling you forget everything Ellie went through and focus on Abby, you will love the game. I love this game as it is, I wanted to teach us something besides revenge. "The hero of someone`s story... Can be the villain on someone else`s." I really recommend buying this game if you love adventure and action, you will have all that and more… Expand

Esse jogo se mostra vivo, você sente quando mata alguém, sente se tornar um vilão, até o ponto que você não sabe mais quem é o vilão. Um exemplo para a nova geração. Todos tem uma história, você encontra várias cartas de pessoas que estavam morrendo, esperando suprimentos, buscando suprimentos, estavam infectadas e todas morrem que nem merda. Porque com o Joel tinha que ser diferente? Morrer que nem merda nesse mundo é muito fácil, você vê isso nas cartas. Esse jogo é extremamente realista e isso é incrível. Ao contrário do nosso mundo, no mundo de The Last of Us tudo é uma distopia, você só entende jogando. Não adianta ver gameplay, você tem que sentir e viver isso. Minha nota é 10, me emocionei em vários momentos, o jogo é muito vivo e você se sente vivo quando joga essa OBRA DE ARTE. GOTY. Parabéns.… Expand

    Personally having played the game 2 times first time on moderate just for experiencing the game and digesting the game normally and the second time for **** and giggles and feel like a badass with the accessibility options turned on, and this is what I have to say. First the Gameplay, it was phenomenal with brutally and ruthlessness not seen since this side of Manhunt, now the graphics my man... my man... This game... This game is beautiful to hell and back, That's all I have to say. Now onto the reason why this is a 4, The story. Now to say this is story is OK would be kinda generous not to dive into it as I'm sure someone else can say it better than me, so the issues really revolve around the characters and the ending with Characters acting weirdly and a little too convenient for the plot such as my main men Joel and Tommy being a little too generous with people they just met, Being forced to play as the killer, strangely graphic sex scenes from a company that censors anime **** trying to make me feel sympathy for the killer and having it fall flat on its face, killing a main character for shock value. The ending not having you go through with getting revenge on the main man's Joel's killer.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can only say that the story and overall plot is one that will not be shown in any other game previous, or after the release of this game.
    The game lets you play as two characters, Ellie and Abby who both have their own reasons to fight their battles. Through their adventures, two parts of the same story is shown, and honestly making the player play as the character who gives so much sadness to Ellie (who we expect to be playing as through the majority of the game) might not be a cup of tea for everyone. But seeing it through to the end, it actually makes what happened throughout the plot very believable and I ended up being able to sympathize with both characters and their sides of the story.
    The ending was very realistic, Ellie had gone through too much trouble, to just let go and live her life, and it was hard for me to imagine her having a Happily ever after life after the last scene. This was honestly a story that could only possibly be told through a game, where the player can closely understand how the character feels, by controlling them. To me this was a game that I'll probably never forget, and strongly recommend to players that enjoy story driven games.    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
