    I can say I enjoyed my time with the game, I avoided every trailer and spoiler as much as possible. I can't say I'm a fan of the other characters you get to play as, but I genuinely enjoyed my experience as a whole. I truly believe, if it weren't for those leaks back in April, the reception would have been a lot more positive. I'm glad the game still sold really well, despite the backlash.

    Amazing end of era for PS4, all of us can be disappointed of story, but not always happens what you want, and Neil Druckman with Naughty Dog told us their story, waiting for PART III, Ellie's story needs to be continued and finished with honor.

    Great story, great game design. Everything was the best game.
    Abbey's human charm was wonderful and made us want to live in this world.
    Survive in this world where even Joel cannot survive.
    It felt that this world was changing more severely than the previous work.
    Thanks to Naughty and everyone for making this amazing game.

    Simply put - a Masterpiece.
    Don't listen to all the whiners - the story is very well written and breaks on purpose with expectations. It's almost like Game of Thrones in the early seasons.
    The graphics and especially the sound are stellar. The gameplay is similar to part one but more refined. The story arc got some pacing issues, there are some lengths in the game, breaking the    Simply put - a Masterpiece.

La historia de TLOU1 es relevante para el mundo, sin embargo en TLOU2 vemos una historia mas enfocada en una venganza donde vemos a los personajes desarrollarse con una trama más oscura que su predecesor.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nachdem ich mir auch zu genüge kritische Stimmen zu diesem Spiel angehört habe, bleibe ich bei meinem Urteil, dass dieses Spiel ein Meisterwerk ist.

    Ich verzichte darauf genauer auf die visuellen und auditiven Aspekte einzugehen, denn ich meine, dass selbst die größten Kritiker zugeben müssen, dass diese Punkte einfach atemberaubend umgesetzt worden sind.
    Ich muss aber auch nicht erwähnen, dass dadurch die Atmosphäre unglaublich immersiv ist und die Welt nicht unbedingt erzählen muss, um sich selbst zu erzählen.

    Vielmehr möchte ich hier auf die kontrovers diskutierte Story eingehen, welche meines Erachtens nach unglaublich gelungen ist und zu unrecht bei so vielen in Ungnade gefallen ist.
    Wobei man hier auch skeptisch sein sollte, dass noch am Erscheinungstag so viele Menschen negative Kommentare haben verfassen können, obwohl das zeitlich nicht möglich sein sollte und viele auch schlicht und ergreifend homophobe Gedanken haben, weswegen sie dieses Spiel negativ bewertet haben.
    Natürlich will ich hierbei NICHT alle über einen Kamm scheren nur, weil sie sich kritisch äußeren bzw. geäußert haben, denn Kunst muss nicht jedem gefallen und man kann anderer Meinung sein.

    Fangen wir doch mit Joels Tod an. Ja, es ist traurig aber ich finde es dennoch legitim, dass Joel unter diesen Umständen getötet worden ist. Wieso? Weil es es üblich ist für diese Stadt, dass man während der Patrouille fremde Menschen aufsammelt und das hat auch vier Jahre, ohne größere Zwischenfälle funktioniert (das kann man in den Patroullienbüchern nachlesen). Außerdem haben sich Joel und Tommy auf der Flucht vor einer Horde befunden und konnten sich gerade so retten, und als sie sich dann im Haus befunden haben, hat man dennoch merken können, dass sie eine gewisse Vorsicht haben wallten lassen, weil sie zum Beispiel nicht wollten, dass die fremde Gruppe die Sättel der Pferde abnimmt.
    Außerdem finde ich, dass wenn man Abby als Charakter eine Chance gibt, man feststellt, dass sie sich eben nicht stark von Ellie unterscheidet und das meine ich garnicht negativ.
    Vielmehr möchte man, dass sich die Beiden doch einfach Vertragen und diesem ewigen Trott der sinnlosen Gewalt entziehen, nachdem man beide Lebensgeschichten dieser Figuren kennengelernt hat. Und es ist einfach eine unglaubliche stärke dieses Spiels, dass es uns zwingt zu tun, was wir nicht wollen, indem wir aktiv gegen Ellie oder Abby kämpfen.
    Wir hassen es das zu tun, aber gerade dafür sollten wir das Spiel lieben, weil es solche eine Mitgenommenheit bei uns auslöst und wir unsere eigen moralischen Grauzonen anfangen zu hinterfragen. Gerade weil wir wissen wie viel Schmerz sich diese Figuren zugefügt haben und mit welcher Beiläufigkeit sie sich jeweils die liebsten Personen rauben. Wir wollen, dass es aufhört aber das tut es nicht, denn das spiel möchte ein Kommentar zur Gewalt sein, wie Neil Druckenmann selbst sagte.

    Aber um diese emotionale Achterbahn mitzufühlen zu können, muss man dem Spiel und besonders Abby eine Chance geben, denn es lohnt sich.
    Besonder, weil jeder Charakter gut geschrieben ist und auch wahnsinnig eindrucksvoll inszieniert worden ist, sodass man in jedem Gesichtausdruck lesen kann, was die Figur fühlt. In nur wenigen Spielen haben sich die Dialoge so echt und die Figuren so menschlich und nahbar angefühlt, dass man fast vergisst, dass dieses Figuren garnicht wirklich existieren.

    Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich nichts wirklich zu bemängeln habe von dem was erzählt wird. Die einzigen Dinge, die mir negativ aufgefallen sind, waren zum einem die Spielmechanik aber auch die Quick-Time-Events, aber man hat dennoch eine gewisse Verbesserung - zum Vorgänger -gespürt, besonders bei den Umgebungsrätseln.

    Zuletzt möchte ich noch das Ende ansprechen, dass das Spiel in seiner Bedeutung zusammenfasst und den Schlussstrich der Charakterentwicklung darstellt. Nachdem Ellie ein zweites Mal getrieben von Rache verfolgt und sich wieder bis zu Abby vormeuchelt, findet der finale Kampf zwischen Ellie und Abby statt, in diesem Kampf verliert Ellie nicht nur zwei ihrer Finger, sondern kurz bevor sie Abby tötet erkennt sie, dass sie vergeben und dem Trott der Gewalt entkommen muss, damit sie nicht völlig konsumiert wird von der Rache. Dies wird symbolisch durch die Rückblende vermittelt, in der Ellie Joel für seine Taten vergibt. Aber man sollte nicht erwarten, dass dieses Ende ein fröhliches ist. Es ist nämlich bitter-süß besonders als man am Ende zum Farmhaus von Ellie Dina ( Ellies Freundin) gelangt, wo sie ein verlassenes Haus antrifft und als sie sich dann hinsetzt und versucht das Einzige zu tun was ihr von Joel geblieben ist - das Gitarrenspielen - kann sie selbst das nur noch teilweise, weil sie getrieben von Rache ihre Finger verloren hat.

    Es ist ein schönes Spiel aber eben eins für erwachsene und eins, dass dem Spieler moralisch alles abverlangt und deshalb so spielenswert.    … Expand

Я прочувствовала персонажей, прочувствовала усталость от бесконечной мести. Я поняла, почему Элли не довела дело до конца. Большинство игроков называют сюжет тупым и нелогичным, а знаете почему эти самые игроки нифига не поняли? Потому что эти игроки- тупые мужики (а как мы знаем, мужчины не способны в эмпатию), для мужиков главное убийства и мясо, и они негодуют что Элли не убила Эбби. Люди, чувства- сама по себе вещь не логичная. Я прочувствовала этих персонажей, я несколько раз плакала и заявляю, что сюжет хорош, его поймут только эмпаты.… Expand

Many people are simplifying the narrative down to "revenge is bad," but really, what I think the game is asking is "is revenge worth it?" What do we truly gain from harming the person who harmed us? What catharsis is there in perpetuating the hate that caused you this deep rooted pain in the first place? Ellie as a character has never been driven by hate. Her arc in the first game was defined by hope, the hope that the pain and suffering we endure in life means something. The harsh reality that the sequel presents is that there is no reason for our suffering, and that life has no meaning beyond the meaning you make for yourself. In the final moments of the game, we see Ellie finally return to that empathy and hope that has always been in her heart, we see her finally let go of all the pain and anguish that Joel left her with. Abby most definitely added to that pain and anguish, but really her quest to kill Abby was intertwined with her inability to forgive Joel, her inability to escape the guilt of knowing so many died just so she could live, and not feeling worthy of such a thing.
    At this point I'm just rambling, but I urge each and every person who hates this game to give it another chance. Underneath the shock and horror of what this game puts you through is a truly beautiful story that examines the human condition in a way seldom seen in storytelling, let alone in video games. I love this game and I hope that with time, the gaming community sees the value in this story.    … Expand

This is the rightful heir to the first part. In fact, the gameplay cycle has not changed much. You also follow the plot through the cutscenes, look for resources to survive and defeat opponents inThis is the first game I bought on PS4 on release day. In fact, the gameplay cycle has not changed much. You also follow the plot through the cutscenes, look for resources to survive and defeat opponents in the location, and then move on to the plot. But the details have become more, graphics and animations are speechless. This time, Neil Drackmann decided to take a chance, and together with Halle Gross wrote a script that literally blew up the TLOU fan community. He gave us not a simple story with the main character and villain, whom he must defeat, but gave us a, complex story of revenge and the cycle of wildness, which we can consider from two sides. This story will not appeal to everyone, but those who can understand it, discard their positive feelings for the main characters and look at them from the side, this game will shock them. And I became one of these people. Everyone should definitely try this game, and even if you are not thrilled with the plot, the graphics and gameplay are unlikely to leave anyone indifferent.… Expand

    The gameplay mechanics are better, the graphics are better, the intensity is better, the animations are better, the atmosphere is better, the sound design is better, the level design is better, the a.i is better, the puzzles are better, the acting is better. The game is twice as long. The world isn't black and white, you get to see the entire game from both perspectives which given the evidence of... a lot of people can't seem to grasp that concept of. They think because a story doesn't go they're way and isn't ''happy'' it makes the whole thing terrible. Anybody can think of a story that the average tlou fan wants, that isn't a hard thing to do which would be another Joel and Ellie game much MUCH like the first, that would be so predictable and boring.. we already had that and this is the next step in evolution of Ellie's character.
    This is a game that took a massive risk! It doesn't pay off in every way ( about 2 times off the top of my head ) in terms of plot sure, but bravo for being one of the very few companies brave enough to do so! Tbh i don't think the average person is ready to take the harshness and brutality of this games universe which can at times be closer to the ugly reality than almost anything else in media. Too many people think that a sad or a story or a story that doesn't go their own way is a bad story that just is so wrong. i read comments about this game over the internet and it's pretty clear the way they describe the plot and characters that they A. haven't played it B. get the facts wrong C. I do not understand all the negativity that surrounds this game. I hear people complain about how the characters that we grew to love are treated, and you know what? First off it's a post apocalyptic world, people die, get over it. Also, at first I was a little mad about Joel's death, but as the game unfolded it made sense. Everyone **** about Abby, and at first I didn't like the idea of playing as her, but she also has a side to the story, and she is not the monster that everyone puts her out to be. Her side shows she has heart and care for others. Those others just happen not to be the characters we love from the first game. What this game really shows is that Ellie is no more evil than Abby is, and Joel was no more evil than Abby is too. I think Tess said it best in the first game. "We're **** people Joel, it's been that way for a long time."

    NOBODY in this world is a saint. Ellie and Joel are just as bad people as all of the WLF and Abby. This shows you that the world is dark, and it's meant to be. Once I warmed up to Abby as a character, I really did not mind her place in the story, and I think her motivation for killing Joel is well warranted. Did I want it to happen as a fan of the series? No. But I feel it was necessary to make a sequel worth anything. If you're a hater, take a second look. Put yourself into the shoes of every character, especially the ones you take control of. It's not a bad game. Matter of fact, it's fantastic. Cheesy moments from time to time, but not enough for me to go review bomb this game like everyone else is doing. Enjoy it, and realize at the end of the day, it's just a video game. Don't take it too seriously, and don't let it upset you like it has so many people.    … Expand

    Last night I just wrapped up The Last of Us 2 after my roughly 25 hour run. This game is difficult to stomach sometimes. It's really distressingly sad, it's unforgiving, and it forces you to think about things that you don't want to think about. But that's what makes it special.

    When I saw the trailers for the game, I imagined a simple and sweet revenge story. Ellie and Joel going across the county to kill someone who had killed someone they loved. That isn't what this game is, and it's a better game for not just being that. My simple fan-fiction version of the narrative is easy to stomach, it's black and white and it doesn't have any depth to it.

    The Last of Us 2 does the opposite. Instead of offering an easy to digest revenge fantasy, it forces you to see a bigger picture from different perspectives. It forces you, the player, to do things as characters in the game that are reprehensible, and with knowledge that we have but the characters don't, it can be incredibly hard to stomach. When the credits finally rolled on the ending of the game, I spent hours thinking about what had happened over the course of the story. I don't know if I've ever played a game that made me think as much as this did.

    Is it a happy, easy to digest narrative that everyone will enjoy? No, it's definitely not. But it's a deep, thought provoking tale about loss, anger, revenge and forgiveness. It's a story, like the first game, about characters making the wrong choices for love and not knowing if they can live with the consequences. Yes, I understand why so many people didn't enjoy this game. It forces you to live in the shoes of people who have been wronged, and to understand them.     Naughty Dog uses the game as a medium to create an unprecedentedly reflective way of portraying the actions and decisions of the characters. An experience which it only achieves because it forces the player to experience the story from different perspectives and to back the decisions and emotions of the two main characters, which makes the game extremely emotionally challenging for me.

    The message from this game is so strong, you can feel it at every corner, every scene, i´t is another level for games, a landmark for sure. Makes all the other games a joke. I´ve been feeling sad and depressed for three days now after I finished it. Don´t listen to the people hating the game, play it for yourself. No one should tell you what you supposed to like.

    So many 0-1/10. It is offending and anyone giving this title 0 or 1 is an idiot unable to handle the emotions as a grown up.. feel bad for the creators who put so much effort in this game. Maybe it does not deserve 10/10 as I rated it. But haven't enjoyed any game like this since God of War. Not even RDR with it's obsolete game mechanics and ok story.

I really appreciated the level design and environment as well as the additional enemies and also how they made bloaters into a bigger, scarier threat by putting the encounters in small spaces and also upping the strength and destructive power they have. The game is gritty, brutal and you can tell a lot of passion and work was put into the game. I like the fact that they don't take the marvel route of keeping all the hero's alive (or giving them a way to come back) and they told the story they want and frankly what feels like a natural progression of the first games story. The inclusivity was well done and seemed real. They also did a great job with their accessibility options.

    Frankly I think it's better than the first. It stands in it's own and ups the ante. Also I think they handled Joel's murder very well. And by utilizing flashbacks to the time between the first game and this game, it did a was able to continue to have him in the story and also flesh him out as a character while also showing his importance to Ellie.    … Expand

К этой части у меня к ноти догам вообще претензий нету и просто удивляешься как они все так классно делают.

    It’s similar to something like Game of Thrones, where G.R.R wasn’t afraid to set up cool and interesting characters just to kill them off abruptly in the same book. And while it totally sucked, it sucked because I liked the characters, not because I thought the writing was bad. It just reflects the reality of living in a harsh world. People die. People walk into the wrong place at the wrong time and die. People get cocky or let their guard down and die. People you love may have made bad decisions that come back to haunt them... and they die. That’s the world characters in The Last of Us live in.

    And onto the idea that they’re forcing diversity and making this game political... that’s total bs. The diversity that they show in the game probably simply reflects the diversity of the people that make the game. Not only that, but there’s no character that’s like LOOK AT ME! IM THE GAY ONE! Or IM THE BLACK ONE! They’re simply... people. Some of them happen to not be straight, happen to not be white, or identify as a different gender. Just like in real life. If you don’t like that, then maybe you need to travel a little bit and meet some more people.

    Also Abby is a woman and she could probably bench press a car. It’s also a reflection of her character that makes perfect sense in the context of her story. How the F is that political?!

    If you played and liked the first one, you’ll be emotionally invested to play this one. Simple as that.

    Gameplay-wise, everything is improved and expanded in the first one. The levels are physically bigger and give you plenty more choices on how you want to tackle an encounter. Exploration is also very deep with a lot of thought given to the story behind the environments. I can expect to find certain items in bathrooms, others in office spaces, etc. so if I’m running low on tape, I’m on the lookout for an office space, instead of opening every drawer in an abandoned building.

    As far as criticism goes, I do have some. I think the game goes on for a bit too long, and there are at least 3 spots I thought were the ending (and I was happy with it) and then it kept going for several more hours. I think at least one big section could be cut from the Ellie section and another from the Abby section and I’d be very happy with the length. That’s it.

    Also ND owes me an extra pair of pants because that infected boss literally scared the crap out of me.    … Expand

    The game caused a lot of emotions - hatred, tears, compassion, sadness. And pleased with excellent graphics and gameplay.

Most people criticize the game without substantiated arguments, for being inclusive (criticizing that Ellie is from the LGBT community in this game, when actually, since part 1 in the dlc Ellie shows her preferences and tbh I do not see anything wrong with the fact of having a wide variety of people with different characteristics, backgrounds or beliefs) or arguing that it is a bad story just because Joel does not have an epic death and is not a protagonist as in the first game (it is true that we would all have liked to have another story with Joel being a hero), but really that's the best of the game, it's a master piece with a real and raw story attached to what can happen in such a world as the one in the game, where anyone can die in any way, the game even give us other perspectives of several important events in the first game, also has an amazing quality of the graphics and scenarios, an amazing gameplay and as always take care of even the smallest detail and features, delving into the world where the game takes place, very good soundrack, in my opinion its a very good game… Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
