This game is heartbreaking and emotionally taxing on so many levels, and at times is even uncomfortable to play, but every single one of those moments exists to further the narrative, and the story would have suffered if any of those moments had been left on the cutting room floor.

So many of the critiques of the game that dwell on “plot holes” and decisions that are “inconsistent with X's character” ignore the fact that, y'know, people change, and years have passed since the end of the first game. These are not the same characters we knew.

The acting in this game is second to none, the music and sound design are great, the visuals are stunning, and, OMG, the rope physics. The amount of care and passion that went into this game is incredibly obvious, and really inspiring.

Don't pay attention to the vitriol—play the game and form your own opinions.

The story is absolute trash it is told in a convoluted way, the caracteres make the most stupid decisions ever, they totally destroyed everything they made in TLOU 1, forced inclusivity, the way they killed Joel was absolutely disgraceful; Abby was the worst charaxcter im the game and yet half the way is you playing as her, the ending sucked ass.
The only good partes are the graphics, music, sound design and that they improved the combat a bit, explorarion is good.

From misleading advertisements, to poorly written story telling being chopped up and thrown together in a way thats atrociously confusing.
The ONLY thing this game had going for them was the beautiful environments and thats why it will get a 1 instead of a zero

they absolutely destroyed Ellies character, made a sad attempt at trying to make the player feel bad and out of control of their actions when really it was insanely frustrating
Unnecessary censorship in Ellies relationship with Dina meanwhile Abby and Owen get a whole 5 second long sex scene

Plot holes out the ass, jumps and cuts with no explanation that just make no sense, I wouldnt recommend this game to anyone save your money and watch a playthrough

In Last of Earth 2, the characters from Part 1 are simply tools for story development, and they deny the relationship or everything of the characters from Part 1. In this case, it had to be released as an independent game, not the Last of Earth 2. Also, the way the story unfolds forces players to take only one path, and they said you are wrong. This was very insulting and offensive.

Apart from right and wrong, the agony and decisions Joel made for Ellie in Part 1 were respectable. Ignoring all of these parts and killing Joel in vain and manipulating Abby, the cause of it, makes me very angry.
Also, because this game ignored these parts(Character setting and world view), it seems that there is a logical error in the middle of the story and a contradiction in the new character. I don’t know what arts are trying to destroy the Last of us all. If there was respect for the previous work and respect for the fans, the story's outcome would have been unfolded in a different direction in the process, even if it did not change.
Unlike a movie or a book, users who play games are more actively engaged in the experience of immersing in the character and sharing emotions. Of course, developer may have some freedom in game production, but I don't know what part 2 is for. It feels like it's just to take advantage of fame for Part 1.

Good graphics and 10 year old gameplay can't carry this game when the plot is so infuriatingly bad. This game story is almost as bad as Game of Thrones season 8. That's the best way I can put it. Regret of playing it and the feeling of wasting time should never be this immense when playing a game whose predecessor was considered a masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first game was and still is a masterpiece. This second one, is GARBAGE. I was ok with the idea of Joel dying in this game and let Ellie be the protagonist. But, the way they did it, made me nauseous. First, killing in the most disgraceful way the most beloved character of the series and then forcing you to play as his murderer? It's INSANE.
If they wanted to get rid of Joel, they should at least show us some more of Abby, create some love for the character, make us simpathize with her cause and then get to this point in the story. There is nothing wrong in changing main characters. Take for example The Walking Dead Season 1. The death of Lee was shocking, but was a honorable death. A remarkable moment in the series just to pass the torch on to Clementine to make her own adventure.
Not only that, but they gave us the most horrible and disgusting sex scene I've ever seen in a video game or any other media. I had to turn my face away from the screen thinking the foul smell in that room. Anime boobs = CENSORED; Abby an Owen f***ing like two dudes in a prison cell = MASTERPIECE; WTF!
But they saved the best for last. When you finally thinks that the gameplay is going to be worth playing by killing Abby and get the so renowed "revenge", Ellie spares Abby. Not even a choice was given: to kill or not to kill Abby. Ellie ends with her "dad" dead, her friends dead, her girlfriend gone with their baby and two less fingers. And Abby? Abby is fine and dandy leaving with her friend into a new adventure where she can destroy more lives as she did with the characters of this franchise and its fans.

After falling in love with Joel and Ellie in the first game, Part 2 introduces us to the unlikable, ugly, and outright evil Abby, who tortures and kills Joel in the beginning of the game. Then the game forces you to play as this unrealistically buff woman as the second protagonist.

Perfect visuals and highly customizable difficulty and accessibility options of the game do not mitigate the horribly written story with no character development. Ellie and Joel act out of character, which makes this game feel like a stupid fan-fiction, created to convey woke political messages.

    Graphics: 10/10 (amazing graphics)

Gameplay: 5/10 (nothing innovative. not so different from the first game. forces you to play as Abby.)

    Story: 0/10

    New characters: 1/10

    Overall: 1/10

Do not spend 60$ on this crap. Rent it or wait for sale, if you're ready to endure the pain that is Abby.

As I play this game there are familiarity with the gameplay compared with the first one with extra function which is nice. The visual are top notch, kudos for game visual designers who put numerous hours (like a slave i bet) into building this game world. The sounds and ambiance are simply amazing.

But not all good games need visual. As a mainly single player gamer i enjoyed a great story telling. The story will drive you to play the game, explore the lore, gain interest on the every corner of the world and everything because of the story. However this game story is trash compared to the first. Petty revenge story? back and forth back and forth with nothing to gain. Just emptiness, I'm a husk of a man now after playing this. I guess the director have achieve his mission to get everybody attention, time and money but to what cost?

If Naughty Dog firstly make TLOU part 1.5 that can tell "other protagonist" story in depth so that we can love them maybe TLOU part 2 can be pass as well rounded story. But you hardly know the character with a just 10 hours of gameplay?? or actually less then that if you just count characters interaction. That's not enough time for character development and put us on their side.

One generation Ball; the people who killed the whole game were either bandits or robbers, cannibals, and people who wanted to rape Ellie.
When she arrived at the hospital, JOE, who had lost her daughter, got her daughter Ellie back. In the current situation; killing to save people.
Time to go back and take a look at the attitude of the first generation of fireflies in the hospital.
If Ellie is your daughter, you don’t even have to watch the last one. You even ask your daughter, "Are you really willing?" The fireflies refused to let you ask.
Just leave a sentence "if you dare to try to do something, shoot you", and then turned to open up Allie's brain.
In this case, when you are able to save your daughter, will you let your daughter die?
In the second generation - Director Bai Zuo's writing, JOE was shaped as a demon, and JOE was killed.
Abi~ She is Aili who kills for hate and then kills for hate,
    Forced to forgive~~
Abi who killed people for hate~ is forgivable~
For killing the ball~~ The sin deserves death~
The script is written by people, whether it is good or bad, it is operated by people. There is no irrational problem. We can only be forced to swallow the writers. The real problem is that the person who wrote the script creates a rational and no position 'S script?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The writers don't show nor tell the emotional development of the characters and instead place an impossible burden on the player to fill the gaps to make the story work.

The pacing is atrocious. Right at what the player is lead to believe is the climax, instead of paying off, the game takes a break and forces you to go through the story again from a different character's perspective for 10 hours, before finally it finally resumes telling the story.

TLOU2 touches the themes of grief, forgiveness, revenge and violence, but ultimately goes nowhere and/or fumbles the messaging and ends up contradicting itself.

The character arcs are very weak. Characters seem passive for most of the game, with things happening to them instead of them making choices. When they do make choices, how they change or why they made that choice isn't really expanded upon, leaving it to the imagination of the player.

All in all, a story where stuff happens but nothing really changes.

    Characters 4/10

The way Naughty Dog is handling the critic is by laughing and using slurs and pulling out the homophobic and transphobic card on you if you hate their game. Truly pathetic.

The thing that didn't sit well with me, was that after rescuing Abby, she kills Joel. After some time, you will play as Abby for a whole 10-12 hours. If you hated how she killed a beloved character, this early into the game and how it was executed, your experience playing as her, trying to sympathize with her pain will be atrocious. To me, I had a really bad time

The game's characters are easily forgettable. I was already heavily invested in Joel and Ellie, that none could even hope to match them. Jesse, Manny, Mel, Nora, Owen? Didn't give a second thought about any of them.

You've done better, ND. But taking the piss out on your customers and disregarding their critic because it doesn't suit your little world of happiness and sunshine? Get real.

If you're one that loves a good story, I recommend you avoid this game. They basically flushed the franchise down the drain and mock its community.

    Graphics / Lighting / Effects / Animation -> 9.5 out of 10.0
The graphics are beautiful. The landscape and the surroundings look astonishing. The lighting especially inside of buildings with direct light, indirect light and defuse light is one of the greatest I've ever seen in a video game up until today.
    Sound / Sound effects / Music / Voice Acting -> 9.5 out of 10.0
The sound and the sound effects are on top f.e. the sound of the rainfall is impressive or the sound of the wind howling through the tall grass. Yes, you can actually hear that. The music, the score is beautiful and emotional and adds perfect to the visuals.
The Voice Actors have given their best to make their characters come to live on screen.

    Game play / Mechanics / Controls / AI -> 6.5 out 10.0
The game play and the mechanics haven't changed a lot from the first part and they still feel like 2013 and a bit outdated in 2020. There a more possibilities for modifying the weapons and the abilities of the character you are controlling/playing. But that also means that the flaws of the first part have found there way into the TLuO2. The gun play still feels a little bit clunky and so the spare ammunition is sometimes wasted in a game where every bullet counts. Sometimes the camera positioning isn't quite right, so that suddenly a clicker instantly takes you out unseen and in a stealth section your character may act uncorresponding or in an unintended fashion, because some buttons are tied to different functions simultaniously. Apropos stealth; the enemy AI is sometimes shifting between good to dump like a rock. You can flank nearly every enemy even groups in in a circular motion, so you can kill everyone or everything off from the end of that chain.

Story / Storytelling and Pacing / Characters and Character development -> 1.0 out of 10.0
The problem with TLoU2 is the story and the way it is presented. TLoU1 was a story and character driven game. That was the reason the fans loved that game so much. We played 90 % of that game as Joel and 10 % of the main story as Ellie. Then there was the DLC, which focused more on Ellie and her "coming out" and her relationship to Riley. So the fans of the first game cannot all be homophobic as Neil **** now tries to imply upon the ongoing so called "Review Bombing", which by the way happens in both directions.

The new characters are not introduced in a believable way.
The known characters from TLoU1 act completely out of place -> the way Joel dies. Ellies reaction to being lied at by Joel about Salt Lake City.
The Story is not believable. -> Abby spares Ellie and Tommy on two, different accounts.

They way the story is presented is awful. All the flashbacks are destroying the pacing of the story and the game play as well. Sometimes through all these flashback you even don't know in which timeline you are right now, when you continue to play. These time lapses and flashbacks are also interfering with any character development or introduction in this game, so that every identification or understanding of any of these new characters and there motivation is nearly impossible or not believable. And unfortunately the very good voice acting cannot safe that.

There is no build up in this story to a real climatic moment, only shocking moments of violence, which are also presented in an awful way, so that it seams, you are watching a low budget action- or horror movie.
A movie with a completely unknown cast and the one actor you know has only a minute of screen time, just enough to push the sales, because you can put him in the trailers and in the marketing like Robert Englund's appearences in so many low-budget horror flics.

In addition some of these violent scenes and acts are forced upon the player. The player has no choice, because all this is scripted and even worse, some of this scenes are intended to manipulate the player in the way he sees and feels for these characters. That is a real cheap trick by the way.

The linear, scripted and time lapsed broken story and gameplay is in my opinion a complete failure and is outdated in 2020. Naughty Dog has proven that they are not able to deliver a game in which you as a player have the choice, what you want to expercience. They are only capable of forcing you to play what they want you to play in a linear, restricted fashion.

And I am absolutely sure, if Naughty Dog would have given the player the choice and freedom to play Abby or not, most of the players would have disagreed and skipped this possability, because of the way her character was introduced or “injected” here in this way.

Here is the real Final score -> only 5.0 out of 10.0

Last of Us, dependent on game story. Dont you know that ? and in this game story is garbage. Last of Us about only Joel and Ellie's story. That's why people liked this game so much. I waited this for seven years, You gave me horrible story with a final. WOW! Sorry but unfortunately the story of the game has never been satisfactory and it is full of disappointments. Fix it as soon as possible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't know when they thought it would be an innovative idea to play with your favorite character's psychopath to force you to empathize. It's literally IMPOSSIBLE.

Joel is the best TLOU character and the one who made the game successful. is the most human and her decision is the decision we would all have made. I'm sick of reading that Joel has "condemned the world." Oh God, who are you condemning? Those psychopaths who were going to experiment with Ellie to open their heads and lie about the cure? There was no cure!
In the game, through memories and Ellie's perspective they try to tell you that Joel was selfish and mean, which is a complete madness of the creatives. In addition to constantly seeing Ellie get angry with Joel without having the slightest meaning. You were going to be a monkey on an experiment table, there was no cure! What's the intention here? Because let me say no. I repeat: there was no cure. They make it clear to you in the files you find in the O.R. So I understand they're staining Joel's legacy, because whoever makes the difference, it's not Ellie, it's Joel

By far the idea of forcing the player to drive abby after what he did is crazy. You've reduced TLOU's legacy to Kill Bill+shock with Netflix kisses. The backbone of pandemic, the cure and the themes of desolation, mistrust, Ellie's impulsiveness against Joel's cold distrust has disappeared, as well as the cheap way to conspire against a character who already has a life and study made to make us believe that he would be killed in such a stupid situation: "Hello, my name is Joel" "because we kill you". Joel has killer instinct, before anyone goes after him smells like miles, he would never show up or trust to break into the house of such a group of strangers. And they don't know his face either, are they killing everyone named Joel? How many Joel will there be in the world of tlou? It's by far rocky, screenwriter's whim. There are a series of crazy situations going to smoke bulls in a lost house in the middle of nowhere and a blizzard in the venia and just after they show joel's murder. I don't know what the hell's happened to Neil these years, but I don't recognize the characters, this isn't a good job. It's their game, they did, that they do whatever they want with that story but the consumer is the one who pays and has every right to criticize him for what it is, because in the end there is no VENGANZA. Ellie initiates a hunt against 1000,567,890 and a million innocent people to find her father's torturer who is a psychopath, and in the end she regrets the stupid, unworthy message that "revenge gets nothing" He couldn't think of it before killing all those thousand people? And Ellie would really regret if Ellie in the original game didn't hesitate to blow anyone's head off. The Ellie I know would not have hesitated to murder Abby's PSYCHOpath who killed her father. So the idea at that point is not only wrong, it invalidates the whole game. Besides that by the way Joel is eliminated it seems to have some kind of hatred or prejudice against him, I don't understand that cruelty on the part of the studio and force the player to then handle his killer, because we're not going to empathize with her NEVER that way. . You guys are crazy, but you've been geniuses far surpassing the last season of Game of Thrones. This game will be remembered forever as TLOU's infamous legacy. Too bad, actually. It's psychologically unnecessary and cruel wear and tear.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game in my opinion has excellent story telling. I love this game. This story takes place after the events of the first game, 5 years later. Ellie and Joel have settled in Jackson, and live in a thriving community Ellie has found herself a love interest, Dina. While on patrol, Ellie and Dina run into Jesse, a new
guy. After hearing Joel and Tommy have not came back, Ellie goes to find them. We also play through the villains perspective, and shes looking for someone. After playing as her, you get saved by Joel and Tommy. I'll just get to the point. Abby, the villain, kills Joel. Ellie witnesses this while pinned down. This causes severe trauma to her, and she becomes depressed. Its sad, deep, and emotional. Now I think this makes sense. Joel is Ellies beloved friend, or father figure. And it causes her to take action and revenge. She hunts down every last one of them. You see her blinded by hate, her actions have consequences. She feels those consequences. You then see Abby's point of view. You see she has been with all the people you killed, has been friends with them. And you killed them all. Even her dog. Abby meets two scars, helps them, and becomes more of a normal person, a person with feeling's. We also learn Joel killed her dad, the doctor in part 1. That's why she kills him, she's blinded by her hate two, like Ellie. By the time Abby's story finishes, shes a human with emotions. She finds out what you did, and seeks revenge. You go to find Ellie, and you succeed. Abby kills jesse, and takes Tommy hostage. You are forced to fight Ellie, and it becomes a boss fight. You dont want to, but at this point you understand Abby. You beat the crap out of them and then, Abby spares them. You then flash forward, Ellie and Dina live a good life now. They have a kid, (Dina was pregnant with Jesse's kid). They live happily. But Ellie has PTSD from Joel's death. She can't stop remembering it, and she needs to finish it. She hunts Abby down one last time, and Abby gets kidnapped by Rattlers, a new group. So Ellie gets through and finds her, in santa barbara, tied to a pole on a beach. Shes weak, and you let her go. But Ellie wants to fight. Abby doesnt. Ellie threatens her by threatening to kill Lev, the kid. They brawl, epic and awesome brawl. And at the end, Ellies about to drown her, but doesn't do it. She remembers Joel. She CRIES, cries, and says to go. Letting Abby live with Lev. She comes back, Dina is gone. She left with the kid. Ellie tries to play the song Joel sang to her. But now missing two fingers. She cant play the guitar. She leaves it behind, and walks off.
Thats it, credits roll. The game tells a story of hate, revenge, and the consequences of that hate, and revenge. Abby killed joel because he ruined humanity's chance, and killed her father. But in th end Abby has it worse. Ellie killed everyone, and Abby is mad. Its understandable, because you see the journey she has. The ending shows Ellie coming to forgive Joel, and she can't bring herself to kill Abby. The cycle of revenge would just continue, and nothing would be solved. She knows joel is gone,
hes not coming back. Her not being able to play the guitar, and joels song, is her moving on past Joel. The Ellie we know is gone, and that would've worsened if she killed Abby. It makes you feel everything the game has made you do. And the question is, what would you do? What is the point when you know it went bring him back? Thats the brilliance of it. That's why I love The Last of Us Part 2.

The last of us part ll was a long awaited game for the past four years and I think the team at naughty dog did a great job on the first part of the game and I know they killed off our favourite character (Joel) And that they introduced a player that most fans hated me included but the parts with Abbie don’t make up the whole game and I agree Abbie’s parts were very bad and I was just trying to rush through it the most of the time and when I was finally done with Abbie and I had to go against Ellie I was heartbroken and scared that she was gonna die and that’s a great scenario because they put you in the shoes of the antagonist and not a lot games have the guts to do that and I think they want you to either feel bad or hate her and I am on the hate side And I agree she was not a great character and there was a not a very good character herself but the parts with Ellie were very good In my opinion and then the ending I was not a big fan of it because when Ellie and Abby fight Ellie loses her fingers and I find it very sad because the guitar was the last thing that connected her to Joel But all things aside I think the last of us part ll had so much more potential if they just never let us play as Abby the game would have been more fluent and wouldn’t feel chunky and unfinished because some part of that we didn’t make any sense (the sex scene) but I’m gonna give the game eight because I think they did a very good job on the beginning to middle and then near the end of the game it got very unsettling and confusing but the last of us part ll is a must play and that is my final word Expand

Still even after the bad story, unlikable characters, and political themes (that last seems to be getting into everything nowadays) I was going to give this a 3/10, however the producers of this game did a few things, some of which was illegal. They struck down and copyrighted multiple Youtubers not for showing leaked game play, footage, or images but for merely talking about it. Call people names and accusing them of being horrible things for merely disagreeing with you is already crossing the line but this? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us Part II: Great Standalone, bad Sequel

Sadly, nowadays it is a legitimation for publishing bad content, feminism, homosexuality or anything else to implement "politically correct" in a video game or film. Because if the storyline/the gameplay doesn't please the masses or individuals, you are automatically a racist, homophobic, sick human being. Which is indeed not true, because the broad mass of players agrees with these values and norms and have empathy for the characters. Nevertheless, the story is still badly written and even worse told and does not automatically become a "masterpiece" by incorporating such values. Here is a short list of the points which, in my opinion, makes the story bad:

    1. Joel and Tommy behave completely out of character by giving a random group their names and address. TLOUP2 even provides the proof for this itself, because as Ellie said: Joel and Tommy were aware that Joel has many enemies. (This is illogical in the normal world alone, but in a post-apocalyptic world? According to the motto: I go to any random group, tell them my name and address and then invite them to empty my fridge, although I know them for 3-4 minutes? Difficult but, ok.)
    2. The way Joel died is not worthy of a main character of this caliber. The death of Joel was a inevitable consequence for a second part, but the production was simply off.
    3. The fact that you MUST play the murderer of Joel for about 10 hours after watching Joel being brutally tortured and killed by him is insane. The order is crucial for me, because afterwards the game tries to force you into empathy to this character, which is not possible for me anymore. Perhaps when the order would be different, the empathy as well as the understanding would be much higher.
    4. Tommy behaves again out of character, which is ironic, because he behaves neither as in the 1st part nor as he was presented in the 2nd part. Because first Tommy goes off alone to protect Ellie and others, then wants to go back with them, after they teamed up in Seattle and he was told that Dina is pregnant. He barely gets away with his life (which I think is very unrealistic, considering the wounding he was inflicted with) to put pressure on Ellie one year later to finally hunt down the murderer now, and to put her own life at stake, even though he knows that she has a family now? It just doesn't fit his character.
    5. Ellie's departure at the end was not necessary. She takes off for another month-long "journey", leaving behind child and wife to hunt down the murderer of Joel. Any normal person who is filled with such hatred (especially in an apocalyptic scenario) and has two fingers bitten off during the "final" fight, would beat or kick the murderer with so much rage until you are exhausted or the adrenaline leaves the body again. The fact that Ellie lets the killer go is not logical. And yes, that's the "moral" of the story, but the fact that hate creates more hate and that you only experience loss and suffering with blind thoughts/actions of revenge is something that was performed 4-5 hours of playing time earlier and so I think the end is a pure time shift.

I don't care if a main character is male/female, gay/lesbian, black/white, African/Asian (to make that clear), as long as the core of the storyline is well worked out and you can identify with the protagonists or antagonists, which was very well done in the first part, but was mocked in the second. Positive about the game is the graphic appearance, as well as the open world parts. The gameplay hasn't improved much, but gives the impression that it is a bit outdated. As a very emotional person who comes for a great story I can not rate this game better than 1.

My conclusion from The Last of us Part II is, that no matter if you like the game or not (in my opinion it was a bad game), it doesn't matter anyway, because it's always easier to put others in a pigeonhole than to accept justified criticism/feedback. In the end all that counts is how much money the product has made, regardless of how high quality it is.

So as a linear, story driven game, it fails on the most important points...
It's a shame because the overall game mechanics are great, and there is a good attention to detail.

That many annoyed but putting ourselves in the place we realize that it was too realistic! What did we all expect? A death with epic music? Well ND made it clear that in this franchise things are not like that! So I congratulate him for that dared daring that made us all suffer equally, the game must be seen with great maturity to understand it and it is true ... It leaves you a clear message that revenge is never good and they put us at the feet of the two protagonists and we realize that they lost everything because of it. Engaging their loved ones and taking them to death when they did not deserve it. That is why ellie reflects and lets her live and that is where they show us the last scene of ellie and joel where she is also a part that broke me a lot because Joel affirms that if God had given him another chance to do so, he would have done the same, it is a sign of the love he has for ellie. It is where ellie reflects and leaves us the clear message of why he forgave her. It makes me very sad how ellie saw joel die when they no longer had any contact .. As ellie in the first installment confesses that her only fear is to be alone and in this installment it happens (although I still believe that she was heading to jackson for a second chance) Because I return to the same thing, she leaves us the message that revenge will never It is good and I have a lot of intrigue that it will be hers, hopefully soon they will show it to us ..

Do not read about this game. Play it. Didn't think it would be possible, but story, game-play, mechanics, and music have all truly outdone the first game. What a brilliantly heartbreaking journey this game is.

Amazing game. I loved the story even though it wasn't as good as the story of the first game. The gameplay, graphics and music were all amazing.

Amazing sequel! This is just what i needed. The game follows in the footsteps of the original, and keeps suprising me with excellent game design. I liked the story, and it was good because it isn’t predictable; like every other story based single player games. This game seems to split the fanbase, but i give it a solid 10/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing gameplay, awesome story. I understand where everyone’s frustration comes from but I loved the game. Playing as Abby in the second half made me realize that she wasn’t the enemy, she’s a good person who did a bad thing that could easily be justified. Ellie did much worse throughout the first half of the game. Naughty dog could have easily given another journey for Joel and Ellie that further built their relationship but I’m glad they didn’t. I specifically created this account JUST to rate this game!!! No, I am not a 'review-bomber' or Russian bot, contrary to what the gaming press or ND may tell you lol.

I've been a gamer for over half my life and The Last of Us 1 is one of my favorite games of all time. This game is such a radically different departure from what made that game great, and not in a good way.

For one, the narrative is SUPER disjointed. There are time jumps all over the place and we are introduced to many, many new characters that we are supposed to care about, but there is very little to no development whatsoever invested in building these characters up. It's almost as if they are only there to drive the story forward.

Neil and Gross, it seems, have deliberately shoe-horned their own ideologies into this, and it shows. Big time.

Let me say, I do not mind playing as a female character. I don't even mind that the character is homosexual. Fine. But there is a very clear motivation in this game's story (without getting too much into spoilers), to present and almost force, social justice issues. It's uncomfortable, unrealistic, and comes off as straight up silly considering this is supposed to be taking place in a future apocalypse!!!

The game's presentation is really its only redeeming quality. The graphics, sound, gameplay, music, and voice acting are all top notch. However, this is weighed down significantly by the weak narrative and extended gameplay sections that feel forced and bloated.

I honestly do not know how so many critics gave this a glowing 10 out of 10. To me, that is just mind boggling. Clearly, there is a bias and I believe it involves a combination of things- access media (companies wanting to be on good terms with Sony), and the political motivations shared by the overall gaming press that are highly skewed and misrepresentative of gamers as a whole

I never played anything like this game, I spent forty hours to get through the game ... After reading the news about the criticism of the players that came down, I was upset and stunned. Why? Emotional involvement, graphics, characters, plot ... I definitely recommend this product.

a truly beautiful game that blurs the lines between protagonist and antagonist. Don't listen to the haters. while i do believe that some people are disappointed in the game most of the bad reviews came once the fan review was enabled. Anyway yes it is a long game and can be a drag in some parts but you will easily lose yourself in the game. A worthy successor to a decade-defining game.

This game does have great visuals and great gameplay, but the main focus needs to be the story. The story just isn’t good and it tries too hard to make you feel sorry for people that you immediately don’t want to feel sorry for. Expand

I can't believe ND had done this. Game-play and graphics -wise the game is top notch, however the most important things about ND games, which are the story and characters, are completely butchered. They are trying to create a realistic gaming experience while at the same time manipulate the narrative so that the players might be on the side of a particular character (Abby). The thing is,I can't believe ND had done this. The thing is, in doing so, they are creating rather illogical and irresponsible character decisions. Not that it is not possible in real life. But it does not make for a compelling and intelligent story. Simply put, the characters are unlikable morons. Even Ellie and Joel are dumb in this game. So although the mechanics of the game is good, I feel no sense of enjoyment having to do stupid **** to get the story moving.Oh btw, they are trying so hard to be inclusive, it is embarrassing. This is a game surrounded by controversy. First there was the leaks, with everybody hating on it without even playing it. Then a article about Naughty Dog’s crunch time. After all that, there was the game itself with LGBTQ+ representation, graphic violence and its plot. While I don’t think this is a flawless game, I do think this is one of the best games out there. By Naughty Dog’s standards, this has the best animations and graphics I’ve ever since in a game, which helps to really immerse the player into that world and feel the emotions that the actors are conveying. The gameplay while not innovative, improves in every single part of it’s predecessor, always staying fresh with new weapons, and new upgrades for them and your character. The set pieces and the objectives of the story also keeps you on track. And since I mentioned it, let’s talk about the story.
It’s hard talking about it without going into spoilers but I’ll do my best. Ellie’s descent into pure obsession for revenge is a experience I’ll never forget. Emotional, stressful and tiring, I got so involved that I had to pause sometimes to breath and to assimilate what was happening. You will feel miserable, dirty and left alone in a unforgiving and chaotic world that doesn’t care about its characters. But this doesn’t mean its perfect. The structure the story follows can be messy, with flashbacks and flashbacks in flashbacks that gives a feeling of “dragged on” that in a roughly 30 hours campaign is not good. But you have to go through it all. You have to experience it from beginning to the end. Everything will make sense when the credits roll. All of the hatred the characters feels spills out from the screen and hits you, tears you apart. Like I said before, you will feel tired, stressed and overwhelmed. And that’s the point. This is not a game about love like the first one, which is easy emotion to connect with. This is downward spiral into hate. The gameplay matches that with its grotesque, brutal violence. You feel every hit, every gunshot, every explosion. Everything is intertwined.
Unfortunately, the game released in a time that hatred and stress is everywhere. BLM, Coronavirus, political crisis. And while the finale of The Last of Us Part 2 ends bleakly, it also ends with a positive message: hate and violence leads to nowhere. Yes, this is not a new message and seems like an obvious one. But remind yourself, we are in 2020 and people kill each other because of their skin color, because of their sex preference, because of their race...
This is a powerful game and one I’ll never forget. Be safe, take care and wash your hands.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
