    Story breakdown (SPOILERS AHEAD)

    This game is an absolute masterpiece in exploring morality and the cost of vengeance. Ellie's journey to avenge Joel after his brutal death at the hands of Abby plays out like your typical revenge tale for the first 1/3 of the game, with her mowing down enemy after enemy, alongside a diverse cast of supporting characters. Right as the game reaches what is typically the climax in a revenge narrative, Naughty Dog throws you a curve ball and forces you to play the next 1/3 of the game as Joel's killer!

    At first, I was as upset as everyone else (I spent many minutes throwing Abby off cliffs and relished her death animations). However, from playing through her back story and watching her interactions with her friends and family, I worked through my initial indignation, and came to understand where Abby was coming from, and why she set out to kill Joel. Abby's portion of the game has multiple moments that are direct mirrors to Ellie's portion of the game, down to the love triangles including pregnant women. By forcing you to play as Abby, Naughty Dog is forcing you to empathize with her character and asking you why is it okay for Ellie to get revenge for her father figure but not okay for Abby to get revenge for her actual, biological father?

    The final 1/3 of the game is the most polarizing, as Ellie does act somewhat illogically in continuing to pursue her revenge, thereby abandoning her newfound family. This all comes to a head in a vicious final fight with Abby that left me physically uncomfortable. When the dust settles, Ellie is as broken as the player is by her actions. The ending feels anticlimactic and disappointing, but in selecting this finale, Naughty Dog is suggesting a John-Wickian revenge never ends as one would expect.    … Expand

    Wie auch der erste Teil, ein top Spiel mit atemberaubender Grafik und Atmosphäre! Ich freue mich auf viele weitere spielstunden und hoffentlich kommende dlcs, ich habe bisher noch keinen einzigen Bug gefunden außer hier und da mal einen kurzen Textur Fehler aufgrund einer versehentlich falschen Bewegung! PS: ich finde es abartig das hier manche aufgrund von politisch oder persönlichWie auch der erste Teil, ein top Spiel mit atemberaubender Grafik und Atmosphäre! Ich freue mich auf viele weitere spielstunden und hoffentlich kommende dlcs, ich habe bisher noch keinen einzigen Bug gefunden außer hier und da mal einen kurzen Textur Fehler aufgrund einer versehentlich falschen Bewegung!     Es uno de las mejores historias que nos puede entregar, excelente narración y fluidez con los personajes, destacando los ambientes, los personajes los odias y quieres a la vez, dando un poco de empatia, experimente al límite mis emociones, odio, tristeza y felicidad....     Genuinely one of the best games I have ever played. Riveting and intense. Graphics are amazing, violence is brutal, and the story grips you. My girlfriend is a bit of a gamer, and begs me to play it so she can watch.

    Part II contains an unexpected and heavy sequel story for The Last of Us. This can be a huge disappointment for players looking for a father-daughter relationship like in the first game. The script of this game is just about hate and revenge. But what's meant to be told in the script is well explained. This game goes beyond anything I've ever played to deliver a beautiful, BRUTAL, immensely emotional experience that grips you tightly and doesn't let you go until the credits start rolling. Being a HUGE TLOU fan, I knew that ND would deliver, and they did that...and so much more. Ashley's acting as Ellie is top-notch, and really grabs at your heartstrings, or makes you shiver in fear( whatever her mood at that moment)The story is truly amazing, and complex, and it makes you think...A person can be a Hero to someone- but be a Villain to someone else. I love that the game touched on that- especially with the addition of the trading cards to push that notion. I'm saddened to find out that a lot of TLOU fans aren't able to really look at the bigger meaning of the plot, or understand the immaculate storytelling this game has to offer. I thought they'd be more complex than that. Another 10/10 and GOTY in my book. Well done, ND, well done.… Expand

    The game is absolutely beautiful and the gameplay is actually fun and enjoyable but the story I could not get into it I felt no sympathy for the new characters and I felt like this was being forced on me.With a game so based on story the story not being good is not acceptable.

Following the leak, people of the Internet rose up to call out The last of us 2 for having a agenda. The introduction of Abby made those people lose their mind and the game was boycotted. (Fun fact: Abby is not trans like those people thought, she's just swole as hell and I love it!). Being a fan of the first game, I think it was only fair to give Naughty dog a chance and try out the game before judging. Not only was there no "agenda", the leak mislead people to think it was a way bigger deal than it is. Now the game is very similar to the first one, it plays almost the same and I don't think it is a revolution of gaming. As for the story, it is a pretty standard vengeance story. It even worried me while playing that it would be all it had to offer. I was wrong. I won't say too much as this game as it should be played the most blind possible.

    If this whole drama surrounding the leaks taught me anything, It's that you should make your own mind about games. Play it for yourself, or if you are reluctant, watch a play-through. I can say without hesitation that if the leaks didn't happen, this game would have the same user score as the critics. If you were a fan of the first one, the second opus is for you.    … Expand

The story was great, not as great as the original in my opinion but still great. Maybe because it was much more complicated, the original was much simpler compared to this sequel. No one actually "wins". This story is much darker. Also, the jump scares were a lot of fun and stressful at the same time. Some of the combat encounters were incredibly intense, especially if your playstyle is stealth. This game is one of the best games I have ever played and I'm 47. I've played games all my life and this one easily makes top 5, possibly top 3.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II was an incredibly sad journey. We must remember that we arent here to choose the story for Ellie and Joel but experience their story with them. Lots of people didnt like the choices made by the characters but it's not your story to tell. Just to experience. Phenomenal game with great story telling I highly recommend it.

BUT    All that I have written is purely my opinion.

    Well, let's get started. Many people are currently negative about several things: LGBT propaganda, Joel's death, and Abby's muscular girlfriend. Let's start in order.
    1. LGBT. Seriously, are you going to judge LGBT people now? My God, this is so low. It's 2020, damn it, when the peak of tolerance in the world should be raised at times. BUT ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Accuse the game of some kind of PROPAGANDA? This is very stupid. No one is telling you to become lesbian, gay, asexual, TRANS, or anything else. A story is being told, and this is one aspect. Attachment, emotions, feelings, Yes, there is such a range of emotions... And then they got hung up on it... A great society of people who can't even put aside those moments and delve into the very essence, the very plot and agenda.
    2. Joel and his death. It all, sooner or later, overtakes. How do people die? As the heroes? All die in different ways. Have you ever wondered how many people Ellie killed? In front of friends, family, and friends. And they all had similar emotions. Joel died as fate would have it. And this does not turn back, the game clearly and clearly shows us that sooner or later a person dies, no matter what: from old age or from a bullet in the forehead, or having been hit by a club on the head. This was a turning point for the plot and its further movement, a motive for revenge. Yes, there was no revenge, but we will talk about this later.
    3. And the most interesting, perhaps, muscular girl. Excuse me, what? Did you decide to blame her for her muscles? People, apparently, only the beautiful ladies and have seen. She makes mistakes, just like the rest of us. Just think how much she had to go through in the damn Apocalypse. No less than Ellie, one hundred percent.

    The ending... Oh, this is also a very controversial moment for all the people who shouted simply: WHY didn't SHE KILL HER?! SHE KILLED JOEL! BURN HER AT THE STAKE! Either people only watched the final and didn't pass the game, or they just weren't paying attention. Ellie saw Lev and Abby. As soon as the boy was put down, they started a fight, where Ellie almost won. But she remembered Joel. And just think... Ellie killed Abby. Escaped. And soon the lion wakes up, seeing Abby's corpse. What will he do? Revenge. And so the chain will continue. Ellie realized this at the very end. Why these liters of spilled blood, what good is it? Such were the thoughts that passed through her mind. She had destroyed her happiness, and she could have continued to live in peace, forgetting about it after a while.

    Finally, I want to say that the players ' assessments are not objective. From the word completely. And the critics have brains that understood everything and took it all in their stride. Stop this land, I'll get off.    … Expand

    Excellent game from start to end. Keep in mind this is a tale of vengeance and the theme is "hate" in stark contrast to the first games theme "love". Expect to be upset, but it truly is a great game.

    The game is amazing. Gives an appropriate view on revenge addiction, which Ellie is blinded by. A perfect ending to a story with incredible storytelling order that makes you question your empathy and moral choices that have been made in the first part.

    People are not able to get over little things rather than experiencing the Entire game And have a look at the bigger picture here what it all sums up to . A solid 10 for me!

    El juego es excelente
    Mecánicas fueron mejoradas, ve la comparación de abrir una caja fuerte entre el 1 y el 2.
    La música es extraordinaria, el elemento de tocar la guitarra y tener todos los acordes disponibles es brutal.
    Los gráficos son lo mejor que he visto en ps4 basta con ver la cara para saber el estado de humor por el que está pasando el personaje, los escenarios son brutales

    Quizás el único punto por el que no tiene un 10 se debe al polémico final.. no por la decisión que se toma sino porq quizás me falto que el final tuviese una repercusión más grande sobre el mundo que está planteado en TLOU, por ejemplo, en el primer juego cuando Joel toma esa decisión condena a la raza humana por salvar a Ellie. En el caso del segundo juego tienen un impacto muy fuerte en la vida de Ellie pero nada cambia en el mundo en el que se desarrolla.. ese era el punto que hubiese marcado un diez sin embargo no deja de ser un juego intensivo brutal real humano y que deja una mezcla de emociones fantástico.. juegazo    … Expand

    The graphics and gameplay are amazing, The story, huh, I didn't play first part of TLOU till few days before of the release of the second part, because i didn't have the chance and i'm also a PC player, I'll say the first is one of the best story-telling game i've ever played (and i played a lot of games in my 10 years old "career" of gaming) And the second, huh, i'll say they just wrappedThe graphics and gameplay are amazing, The story, huh, I didn't play first part of TLOU till few days before of the release of the second part, because i didn't have the chance and i'm also a PC player, I'll say the first is one of the best story-telling game i've ever played (and i played a lot of games in my 10 years old "career" of gaming) And the second, huh, i'll say they just wrapped it up just right.     I’m about halfway through so far, so I haven’t finished it yet. But this game is utterly brilliant. The settings, fears, anxieties, moods, etc. are blended together perfectly to create an extremely authentic and relevant experience. If you are a fan of cerebral apocalyptic horror, then I highly highly recommend this game. The characters are thoroughly entertaining and the graphics areI’m about halfway through so far, so I haven’t finished it yet. But this game is utterly brilliant. The settings, fears, anxieties, moods, etc. are blended together perfectly to create an extremely authentic and relevant experience. If you are a fan of cerebral apocalyptic horror, then I highly highly recommend this game. The characters are thoroughly entertaining and the graphics are sublime. I really don’t get the negativity. In my opinion, there’s absolutely no political agendas here. It’s a work of art, and it’s scary, thoughtful, sad, exciting, and just a great great game.… Expand

Cada juego debe ser una experiencia propia, muchos lo critican viendo como lo jugaba alguien mas y repitiendo los mismos comentarios de siempre, es un juego que logra enganchar, un juego diferente, no tendremos los finales felices que todos esperábamos. Estamos en un mundo en el que Joel le quito la oportunidad al mundo de volver a empezar y de sanarse, eso no lo hace un héroe, pero el tenia sus motivos, así como muchas personas tenían razones para matarlo. Estamos en un mundo demasiado dañado, en el que cada uno busca su propia manera de sobrevivir, nadie es el bueno ni el malo, solo hacen necesario para proteger a los suyos, y desde otro punto de vista siempre fuimos los malos.
    Este juego es una experiencia única, tiene escenas muy sentimentales, y una narración ambiental brutal, hace el uso de flash de una manera espectacular en el que nos muestra la evolución de los personajes, y como ese Joel que vimos invencible en la primera parte se fue ablandando y volviendo mas humano, al punto de no querer arriesgarse con Ellie porque no la quería perder, sin embargo tiene demasiada carga encima. Al final es el propio jugador que debe hacer sus propias reflexiones frente a la historia.

Es un juego muy bueno, sus gráficos son muy buenos, la jugabilidad es muy cómoda, sinceramente durante avanzas en la historia te das cuenta de tantos puntos muy específicos y hablando como una estudiante de psicología y a poco de salir, el adentrarte en la vida de cada personaje es muy muy interesante y muy bien desarrolladas. Tal vez a muchas personas no les agrada la idea de compartir o jugar la parte de lo que te hacen creer un "villano", pero te das cuenta que en realidad no hay "villanos" son personas que al final sufren pérdidas muy fuertes y que te enseñan que de alguna manera el buscar venganza y lograrlo (cómo lo hace Abby) no te da paz de ninguna forma, es más te aleja de las personas que siguen ahí y que te aman y sobre todo que estarán ahí para apoyarte y no dejarte sola o solo. Esa perspectiva que te dan tanto con Ellie y con Abby es simplemente fantástica, al principio me enoje mucho cuando Abby mato a Joel, pero después cuando comienza el viaje de Ellie con Dina, me di cuenta que en verdad no hay muertes dignas, Joel murió como una persona podría morir dentro de un apocalipsis donde engaño, mato, robo a personas que probablemente solo querían sobrevivir, claro que el también lo hizo por sobrevivir pero esos actos no fueron los correctos y al final sabíamos que un día Joel tendría un final así dado al odio que muchos personajes dentro del juego le tenían al personaje. Una de las cosas muy interesantes dentro del juego es que ocupan mucho la psicología del color con respecto al estado mental tanto de Ellie, cómo de Dina, Abby, y otros personajes, lo cual es muy importante porque todo esto se refleja dentro de los paisajes y escenarios donde están los personajes.… Expand

    I know this page is being review bombed but I still wanted to leave my thoughts on this game. The Last of Us part 2 is a masterclass in gameplay, world building, level design, animations and graphical fidelity on a PS4 from 2014, and of course story telling.

    The game is really a masterpiece once you finished it, you will only realize it once you FINISH it and FEEL the very end of the game. It made me realize that "Damn, every negative comments about this game is not true" when I finished it myself.

    Abby got what she deserves, there is no need for further bloodshed if you really are a good person.
    The fact that Ellie sees Joel in a flashback while she's killing Abby means that she CANNOT BRING JOEL BACK and that Ellie's had enough of deaths already, these bad user reviewers did not understand that part. I mean PETER PARKER in SPIDER-MAN 3 let Sandman go didn't he?
    What the **** all these people that they want to always kill almost everyone that's messed with them.
    Naughtydog simply tells you to be a real person in this game. Yes it is ****ed up for what happened to Joel but if Abby is the main protagonist on the first one, for sure you will be hunting Joel too, wouldn't you? All I can say is these negative user reviewers are just weak in the heart, they always want the protagonist to be invulnerable to deaths, well Ellie is the real protagonist since the first one.    … Expand

    I don't usually listen to the voices that say everything is terrible, and whine about how someone can ruin "Their" game when nothing that game companies create belong to them.

    And honestly I can understand why some people might be sour on this game. But it's not a zero, it's so far from a zero.     The last of us part 2 is about hate, just as Neil Druckman said, and for you to understand what this hate is all about you have to complete the game, put yourself in Ellie's shoes, how far would you go? There is no hero in this story. Congratulations to Naughty Dog for being able to express how mankind would survive the apocalypse in the most realistic way.

    Trauma has shaped certain decisions of characters in the game and the writers make it feel very realistic. This Naughty Dog project was very ambitious and they took a risk on telling the story that they did. This is not a game that contains the same kind of story as the first one. We get the characters that we love but we play a brand new story. Yes, we lose some characters that we love, some sooner than most fans would have wanted. However, this is a plot based on revenge. How is the game supposed to start without a motive for this kind of plot?

    The game stays true to the characters, the game has brilliant story telling that will keep you at the end of your seat and ensure that your controller is covered in sweat. The ending is controversial, that much is true. I was upset at first but after thinking of the characters involved and how their choices were influenced, the ending is justified.

    Play this game if you love plots and characters that drive the story of this world forward. Play this game if you want to experience something that will grip you and touch your emotions. Don't play this game if you want a copy and paste of the first game, you'll be very disappointed.     You don’t HAVE to love this game, but I did. The first was my favorite game ever but this makes it look like a demo. Everything is so much bigger and it’s a crazy fun adventure from start to finish. And, unlike a vast majority of the fan reviews here, I actually finished the game. Pretty amazing how people played a 30 hour game within the first day!

This game is not just about killing infected, but about how far you go to get revenge on something, and how you can understand your opponent's side. Without a doubt the best game I have ever played.

It really makes you feel like Abby is not such a **** by great character development. Amo como cuentan todo, estoy entendiendo todo desde el punto de Abby, y la verdad es muy entendible como nos quieren mostrar los dos lados de la historia. Lo que llevo a Joel a rescatar a Ellie pero sin pensar que esta hiriendo a miles de personas. Es muy justificable todo lo que sucedio en la historia ya que tiene un por qué.

    I know a lot of people don't really enjoy the game, personally I had a blast with it. I don't think it's amazing story wise but the gameplay was really fun imo! I'd say check it out for yourself if you're up for it.

I think the message on revenge that they were striving for was definitely met even if the outcome of it greatly saddens me. The gameplay was great, I spent quite a bit of time playing with the ropes lol and the hunts for the codes for the safes was fun and never got annoying. Although I must say I still hate Abby. The flashbacks with her did not creat the same level of empathy I had for the original characters and the only reason i found myself rooting for her at all was to save poor Lev. I do wish Ellie had a better ending, as i feel she ended up exactly as she feared... completely alone... But on another note, if she really really wanted to she could find a way to play guitar with her other hand. Artistic people have overcome greater disabilities to continue creating music. Just saying. Overall great game! Makes you feel and think and cry and I loved every second of it. Thank you Naughty Dog!… Expand
